Sunday Morning

The House Health Care Reform bill narrowly passed late last night.  We’ll tell you the shenanigans that went on behind the scenes.   What do you think will happen to this bill now that it must be reconciled with the Senate version?

I child in Illinois was expelled from school for poking another child’s knee with a pencil.  Is a pencil a weapon?  Do zero tolerance policies help or hurt?

Every member of Congress who voted in favor of this bill will be fearing for their job in 2010. They will get booted out in favor of representatives who honor their Constitutional oath. Let’s hope the Senate has more sense. Not holding my breath, though.

All the games in the world behind the scenes used to pass this house bill will not be worth the devastation to small business and the health industry if it ever becomes law. The cost will be staggering and those who think they wanted this will be left with a political victory but not much else.

Obama is an IDIOT why didn’t he tie the New Home Buyer Rebates to Solar Installs. $10,000 system can run most homes.

Over 8,000 Ford F150 Trucks were sold in the cash for clunkers AND THEY GET 10 – 15MPG

Our Government is out of control and they are IDIOTS….

Right now the average health care plan with 2k to 5k deductibles and 10 Million Max Payouts costs $5000 a year.

Under ObamaCare that price will go to $8,000 a year for an individual and if your company drops you ….YOU HAVE TO BUY IT ON YOUR OWN.

YOU WAIT
If this ObamaCare Plan goes into effect EVERY EMPLOYER other then the Elite will drop their plans and we (average workers making 30 to 50k a year) will be forced to pay $8k for a plan or go to jail.

Hockey Guy: You cannot force people to “go green” with the use of solar panels in places like I live where sunshine is in short supply all winter!! There are skeletons of solar systems dotting the landscape here that were installed in the Carter years when the “energy” crisis was first trotted out. I agree with all else you said. We are doomed to increasing the number of people living in poverty if some big thing doesn’t happen to reverse all of this spending.

This health care reform has me in a panic. How can anyone in Congress vote on something, they have no idea how it will turn out? The bottom line is job losses and unemployment, and I can see that coming. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon, oh wait they will be out of a job too! Under government control. Let us pray that this get stopped in the Senate. Most of Congress will be out of a job in 2010 and 2012.

I am a very devoted Fox & Friends watcher, Days & Weekends! I also am one of the people who enjoy watching CSPAN. Yesterday, when Tom Price Rep-GA, and several other Republicans were asking for Parlimentry Procedure from Mr Dingle (who obviously ws not trying to be accomodating) as well as they were objecting, it was because the rules clearly stated that they (each D-Rep) could enter their statement of unanimous consent without embelishment! However, The Gentlelady from New York continued to allow each Rep enter their statement with embelishment and Mr. Dingle did not until the very end charge her with time used! He said when it was the Minority’s turn they would be given the same respect however everytime the Repub – Rep approached the podium, the Gentlemen from Texas was charged with time for each statement! Would you not feel like you had to continue to object to get a fair chance? Fair & Balanced! Right?! Maybe the House needs to follow suit with Fox! It was a clear show yesterday and if the Democrats think that Nancy Pelosi put that Abortion Bill Amendment in and comprimised, they are dreaming! It will be jerked out in the middle of the night so fast their head will spin! She is so two-sided! We as Americans all need to pray at church this Sunday morning that the Senate will not pass this or the Cap -n- Trade. There is too much at stake! Let the Dems celebrate now ……. Zero Tolerance is a cop out for the enforcers. They do not have to analyze the situation and make an appropriate decision. The extreme punishment used against innocent children is abusive and creates long term damage in the child. When we talk about Safe Schools, zero tolerance makes it more unsafe. Soon they will have zero tolerance for sharpened pencils and ban all writing instruments.

Thousands of citizens traveled to Washington D. C. last week for the purpose of appealing to Congress that “We, the People” do NOT what this health care bill passed because it tromps upon freedoms guaranteed to us by the Constitution.

We watched C-SPAN last night……..
N.Y. Rep. Louise Slaughter said “Thousands of protests showed up to threaten us into not voting in favor of this bill. If they expected us to run for cover or vote against this bill they are going to be disappointed. Hearing those extreme views only made most of us more confident that we are doing the right thing here today by approving this bill.”

IT IS APPALLING THAT MS. SLAUGHTER accuses these Patriotic Americans of threatening Congress when they are rightfully exercising their right according to the First Amendment. She is third on the list of members of Congress to boot in 2010, following Pelosi and Reid.

ZERO TOLERANCE FOR:
Passing unconstitutional legislation
Passing legislation containing ANY “pork” whatsoever
Passing legislation to which the majority of their constituents are opposed
Passing legislation which increases our national debt by $1 or more

One problem: Congress would be vacant for awhile…

I agree, Landra…..but it’s just that they want to find one rule to apply to everyone. It’s not like they are dealing with individuals…..just somebody else’s brat. The militant jerks that make up school boards want their name on the list of board members….but don’t want to spend time there. They would rather raise good socialist brats that will follow orders and obey the collective.

In my opinion…it wasn’t so hard to be a teacher when I was growing up….but my teachers weren’t burdened with raising me as well. But that was when we believed in God and respected our parents and all that other stuff in the Ten Commandments. Glad we got rid of God in our schools and most homes, huh?

My Representative did not vote for this, but all of you who have one who did should vote everyone of them OUT. Senators too. It’s madness. I own a business with a payroll right on the line between the extr tax of 2% and 8%. Will I be adding any employees? Nope. Giving raises? Guess again. Raising prices 2%-8% to cover my increased cost? Yep. HOW STUPID ARE THESE PEOPLE. This bill is a killer for small businesses. So, guess what happens when many of us close, offshore, our employees don’t have money? Tax revenue FALLS. And the government is paying for a new entitlement, and has even LESS revenue. Hello.

Not only that, watch for the doctors to bail and start opening up clinics in Mexico. Less doctors, More people. Ratiioning, and yes, DEATH PANELS.

I would like to add another aspect for our proposed “zero tolerance” policy for members of Congress:

ZERO TOLERANCE for voting on ANY bill which a member has not thoroughly and completely personally read and reviewed.

I suggest that each voting member must FIRST pass a “quiz” on the bill to prove that he or she has actually read it. Quiz failure leads directly to expulsion (never to return) from Congress. I suspect this would GREATLY INCREASE the likelihood that Congressmen and women would actually read bills prior to voting on them.

If he believed in his people, which he works for, and if he believed this Bill is the right thing for our country then why not standup at the begining of the vote. How does a lawmaker make a law if he or she hasn’t read it or doesn’t understand it? Congress is the legislative branch of our government. If they don’t write, read, or understand the laws they’re voting on, then why are they still employed? If, while ignoring all of the aforementioned, they vote to pass bills that their constituents are vehemently opposed to, why are they still employed? This usurpation compromises the integrity of our Constitution, and of the great citizens of this nation. 2010 can’t come fast enough. They are all on notice. Starting now.

About the cat declawing… In the past, apartments I lived in required cats to be declawed. Now as a homeowner, I was able to make the choice on my own when I adopted two cats as kittens. I chose not to declaw, but instead started trimming their claws when they were still kittens, to get them used to it. I now simply trim their claws once a week, and they are no sharper than a dogs nails.

When I was a Senior in high school in 1998, we had the zero tolerance garbage. A fight broke out between two mexican gangs on campus. A weapon was used. It was the dreaded #2 pencil. My friends and I looked to each other and said “Does this mean we don’t have to take the TAAS (standardized test back in the day) next semester? Since, ya know… pencils are dangerous weapons and all…”

Unfortunately for us, the school board didn’t think our argument was very valid.

BTW, my uncle still has a piece of lead under his skin from an accident involving a pencil in school, and that was over 50 years ago.

Don’t fret about the healthcare votes. Even if it makes it through the senate, the socialized program will not start until 2013. If the 2010 elections go the way they look like they are going, possibly even changing the majority, it will be as simple as bringing up a vote to repeal the bill. same goes for the congressional cycle in 2012. (not to mention that the new president in 2012 can shut it down as well) :o )

Declawing is not a simple surgery. If it was done to people it would be like cutting off the first knuckle of every finger. An alternative is deep digital flexor tendonectomy. which limits the ability to extend the claw.

I have had cats longer than I have had children. The boys grew up with cats and were never scratched by them because I taught them from the beginning how to treat animals. I have never declawed a cat and never will.

Declawing cats is like cutting off your finger at the joint it isn’t just uncomfortable or painful to have it done. It affects their balance. It removes their only way of self defense and often causes behavioral problems causing the cat to end up abandoned. They don’t normally scratch kids unless they are provoked, so teach your kids respect for the cat. They can be trained to use scratching posts and I have never had one destroy my furniture. They also have nail guards that can be put on the nails. It is illegal in many European countries and most the vets there wouldn’t do it anyway as it is considered cruel. Do some research on it.

Regarding the cats. PLEASE do not encourage declawing for ANY reason. It is not just painful when it happens. It is AMPUTATION. It creates pain forever. Check out the Dr. Fox vet website (google, not sure of exact site off top of my head) and he will explain it better than I can.

If you have kids, here is a solution: do NOT get a cat. OR get a cat from a shelter who has already been declawed OR tell your kids to leave the cat alone and they won’t get scratched. The cats are hurt far more than any child receiving probably a well deserved wack.

OK–re the cat issue–> First of all to the guy that is not Peter (can’t remeber his name–so sorry!) toughen up for goodness sakes. A cat scratch is no big deal is you clean it and out a bandaid on it! Also, you can teach a cat not to scratch furniture, so there is a fallacy in your logic about having cats. Second, as long as you make sure to take the cat to get his (or her) nails cut (short of course) on a regular basis then the cat can’t scratch people. As far as the worry about “having kids”–I grew up with cats in our house and the cats weren’t declawed. Instead, and I know this may be a novel idea but I am going to say it anyway, my parents watched us when we were with the cat(s) and made sure to teach me and my sister how to treat the cat to avoid getting scratched. Ya know, don’t pull their tails, throw em across the room, carry them around under our arm like a purse…we were told “if you do that, you will get hurt.” Guess what, when I didn’t LISTEN and got scratched, I obvisouly deserved it and I learned my lesson. A cat will only scratch you to defend themselves so how about we teach people how to treat animals like cats right and then we can get rid of the barbaric declawing procedure. It is painful for them–watch a surgery of it and I guarantee you that you will want the procedure banned. Lastly, having a declawed cat can be dangerous if the cat ever got outside accidently–he/she would not be able to defend itself. So, I said ban it, FOREVER!!

chas, most playground fights were/are mutual combat testosterone splashing and fall within the consensual area; now, if one kid was wrongfully attacked on the playground, against his will, that should be punished. Then too, general playgrounds and schools are different, because children have a statutory, and sometimes [as in California] a constitutional right to be protected on school grounds.

carolynro, I too had to decide what to do about discipline on school grounds, being a school board member, and discipline committee member later as a parent, and I agree that there needs to be more proportionality than there is now, and most zero tolerance matters need to be modified, but poking one with a sharpened pencil can have horrible and permanent downsides if the aim is wrong [or right!] that something akin to zero tolerance is appropriate, especially if the skin is broken.

Wow… Have I crossed over the ‘PC Threshold’ without even knowing it! I have three lovely cats and, apparently, stupidly and foolishly had them declawed. OMG! All three were to be exclusively inside cats and were ‘Rescues’ from the local cat anesthesizing factory (East Valley Animal Shelter), so I though I was doing good be obtaining cats that had absolutely NO chance of living for another day.
Nevertheless, I had NO IDEA ‘how’ the kindly Vet performed the surgery; I had no idea it involved the removal of a nuckle or that the cat needed the claws to exercise his little skeletal bone sequence — Who knew? Certainly not me. There was NO informational pamphlet at the Vet’s apprising cat owners of the procedure and its downsides. Why? Who knows.

Now it turns out that I’m a “bad guy” and I apologise to my sweet cats, two of whom are looking at me as I write this piece (maybe they’re trying to figure-out ‘how’ to defingernail me — God only knows what goes on in their little cat brains?)

But seriously, I love my cats and I guess I’d never declaw another… but these three are all over ten years old (one’s almost seventeen) and they’ve had happy lives…

I have worked in a veterinary hospital for 14 years. I would rather see a cat declawed and have a safe and happy home for 15-20 years; then kicked outside to live because he destroys property and hurts my children. I just declawed my 6 month old cat a week ago. It was painful for him but he is fine now and he is happily playing with the dog today

That is utterly atrocious. Some should not have a cat. Indeed, I wouldn’t want one, but that is a different issue.

My husband and I have adopted 15 stray cats over the last 25 years. All have been declawed and lived long and happy lives in our homes. Just last week, a neighbor brought us a new kitten found under her porch, a kitten that would be sure to die in the winter or live a short and painful life on the streets. We adopted her and are now introducing her to the other 2 cats in our home. She will be declawed when she is spayed. I am a responsible pet owner who also cares for wildlife (feeding feral cats, squirrels, opossum and birds in our yard). I would fight such a law if introduced in my state.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal declared a state of emergency Sunday as the Gulf Coast braced for the arrival of Hurricane Ida, which was making its way across the Gulf of Mexico as a Category 2 storm.

42% Support Health Care Reform After Release of Pelosi’s Version

Monday, November 02, 2009

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced the House version of health care reform legislation last week, but most voters are still opposed to the effort.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down from 45% a week ago but unchanged from two weeks ago.

Fifty-four percent (54%) now oppose the legislative effort, up three points since last week.

Seventy-three percent (73%) of liberals support the plan, but just 18% of conservatives agree.

Only 23% of all voters Strongly Support the plan while nearly twice as man (44%) are Strongly Opposed.

Rasmussen is the most slanted to the right poll out there. FOX is doing a good job of keeping the misinformation flowing, but in the end it won’t matter and most people will be happy with the result. Ten years out they will see the benefits. It’s not fair to let Americans die every day because they can’t afford a healthcare policy, and I don’t care if you guys think life is not fair. America can do better by its own citizens.

Sure, I feel bad for the women of the middle east, but we wouldn’t be there if they didn’t have something we need right now – oil! We have to become less dependent on their oil and find alternative forms of energy.

Then, the president talked tough, saying, “We’ll just have to deal with those people,” language familiar to anyone who knows the vagaries of Chicago politics.

The main beneficiaries would be some 30 million people who have no coverage at work or have to buy it on their own. The are several major differences between the bills.

_The House would require employers to provide coverage; the Senate does not.

_The House would pay for the coverage expansion by raising taxes on upper-income earners; the Senate uses a variety of taxes and fees, including a levy on high-cost insurance plans.

_The House plan costs about $1.2 trillion over 10 years; the Senate version is under $900 billion.

By defusing the abortion issue — at least for now — the House may have helped the long-term prospects for the bill. Catholic bishops also eager to expand society’s safety net may yet endorse the final legislation.

Lieberman appeared on “Fox News Sunday,” while Graham was CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Well, I don’t think they will want it back by the time the healthcare debates are all over – and they will know who did their homework and who didn’t. Eventually they are going to realize that the GOP has got nuthin for them but more of the same. With no reform, prices will keep rising and more and more people will be without insurance in 10 years, and more people will die because of it…but the insurance companies will reap the rewards, not the PEOPLE. Small businesses would NOT be required to provide insurance – only LARGE companies. I’m not sure what the definition of LARGE would be, but I’m sure it’s a lot larger than yours. I’m thinking a large corporation, like IBM, the car companies, etc. Your employees could get their insurance through the public option. If you wanted to help them, you would be eligible for subsidies.

Yes, I know most politicians are worth a lot – the “perks” that go with lobbys over the years. The longer they are there, the more they are worth. Why do you think they never retire?

1. Creates a government-run plan, or “public option,” to offer insurance coverage to compete with private sector insurance companies.

3. Requires nearly everyone to obtain health insurance coverage starting in 2013.

Speaking from the Rose Garden about 14 hours after the late Saturday vote, Obama urged senators to be like runners on a relay team and “take the baton and bring this effort to the finish line on behalf of the American people.”

The problem is that the Senate won’t run with it. The government health insurance plan included in the House bill is unacceptable to a few Democratic moderates who hold the balance of power in the Senate.

If a government plan is part of the deal, “as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote,” said Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Connecticut independent whose vote Democrats need to overcome GOP filibusters.

“The House bill is dead on arrival in the Senate,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said dismissively.

Democrats did not line up to challenge him. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has yet to schedule floor debate and hinted last week that senators may not be able to finish health care this year.

But, I look at the Native tribes that opened casinos where billions of dollars are made and where tribal members are not necessarily doing much better than in days before the billions became available to them. It will take generations, as with welfare recipients, to change the underlying “cultural” obstacles to fostering people with the self-reliance that this country was founded on. Having money does not always improve lives of those who have not learned self reliance and personal responsibility.

The Obama administration has admitted it is much easier just to throw entitlements and extensopns of benefits than create jobs. So, this is the plan. Just keep encouraging business to lay off people because there is more money to be made on welfare than to be employed because NO ONE IS HIRING! Oh, unless you count the limited months of work provided in grants that expire when the money is gone.

Michigan has lost over 600,000 jobs and is likely to lose another 300, 000 in 2010. How’s that Stimulus money workin for ya? The major part of the this year’s bribe is being spent to keep state employees on the payroll which just forestalls the inevitable lay offs til next year. As an employer, I am painfully aware of the dwindling tax revenues that we send in each month. As the government extends unemployment benefits, employers will have an additional tax hit to make up for all the money going to unemployment. Most of us already pay over 10% of our gross payroll contributions to the UIA and will be assessed an additional fee to refill the coffers to pay back the federal dollars borrowed by the state to pay the unemployment benefits. The penalty for us would pay for one additional employee. But, instead we will have to pay the tax hit.

You could use that info. to help your customers get money to fund projects – and you could do the work! Use your brain! Learn how the economy works. You should learn to not try to tell what they should do. Do you have any idea how the grants work? Tons of paper work and tricks. Do you not think that our professional organizations have not researched all of this and revealed how to do it? There are so many restrictions that it is not cost effective for the customers to pay for the “green” grants. One of my suppliers already had a customer try to get the “green” windows that qualify and they suck. They are so thick and so dark that they decided to forego the “grant”. People don’t want this crap. The certified “green house” that one of our local builders built three years ago is still on the market because it costs too much for what you get in square footage.

The grant money is recycled tax dollars and is not stimulative or sustainable. New jobs created by the private sector are the only stimulative jobs that exist. You would not understand that because you exist on recycled money. All government projects come to an end. My employees have been with us for YEARS. Not 5 weeks or 5 months like most of the so-called stimulus jobs.

Yes, how did we get to this stage in our lives? Certainly not by believing every liberal lie ever uttered like you do.

What job have you ever created? Hmmmmm? Tell us how it is done.

With all that FREE money floating around, just for the taking, why should we beat ourselves up by working? But good luck getting your plumbing fixed when there are no plumbers, etc. Or your car fixed when there are no mechanics. Get used to walking!! Buses won’t run, planes won’t fly, trains won’t run. Food won’t be grown. Oops!! Probably the only WORKING people will be the politicians and lawyers, and we will have no need for either one.

Carolyn, I can only assume that the troll was talking about the money being spent by the bums but it’s a moot point when one considers the downsides mentioned by both you and I that detail how it’s actually an economic disaster. The excessive taxation required to pay for entitlements prevents businesses from expanding and creating new jobs as well as giving current employees higher wages and better benefits. It also diminishes their capacity to create better and more affordable products and services. In other words, THE RICH MAN SIGNS THE POOR MAN’S PAYCHECK!!! What incentive does he have to do so if the government is stealing half of his money? Why would he even bother hiring more workers?

It is utterly impossible for someone who has never employed people or suffered the business tax system to be an authority on “economics” as they relate to job creation. Believing in policies written by people who have never made a payroll, run a business, engaged with the taxation authorities is the same thing as that same person believing that can lecture others on brain surgery after watch Grey’s Anatomy. You can’t recite what others have told you and know what it is like to have hands-on experience.

Dog: that audio of the people lined up at Cobo Hall did not reveal the fraud that was perpetrated against those folks by their “neighbors”. Some one figured out how to duplicate the application and sold them to the idiots in line who stood there for hours and then found out that they’d been “had”. Some smart welfare crook jacked them by selling 6500 applications and made a fortune off their stupidity.

If this is true, Michigan, which has the highest unemployment in the nation, a distinction shared only with Nevada, should be rolling in the good times. The food stamps and unemployment benefits and grants are not making Michigan prosperous. Grant money and food stamps and unemployment and welfare benefits spent is the same thing as believing you are paying off credit card by transferring the debt to a different credit card. The problem still exists, we just feel better thinking we are helping folks.

This health care bill won’t survive the Senate–at least I hope it doesn’t. The senators, if they have any brains at all, will gaze upon those elections in New Jersey and Virginia and say, “NO WAY!” I don’t care what anyone says. When two states, both of which went Dumbocratic in the ‘08 election, both went Republican and one (New Jersey) is a liberal (Dumbocratic) state, it MEANS SOMETHING. Liz heard the SPIN by Axelrod and others that was spun on MSNBC and other liberal propaganda sites, and now she repeats them. The truth is simply too distasteful for poor Liz to swallow. If the United States of America wants to remain the most powerful country in the world economically (except for China, of course) they need to kick Obungle and his liberal, socialist, Dumbocrats out of office.
Now that Obungle has been placating the terrorists, they have repaid his generosity and dumbness by slaughtering 13 of our soldiers in Texas. Now, I see he’s spinning this tragedy, telling us not to jump to conclusions. And of course most of us are not. But it’s time that he acknowledged that although not all Muslims are terrorists (Believe me, the liberals have reminded us of that fact ad nauseum) many of them ARE. The insurance companies just got 37 million new customers – they should be very happy. The public option is not as big as it should be and poses no threat to them. If the GOP senators don’t accept this bill, they’re crazy. Their biggest contributors just got a LOT richer with the passing of this House bill. Dummys.

Why are you talking to me about Muslims? I have not commented on that at all. It’s too early to know what happened there. I don’t think the military should accept Muslims because it’s a wild card – hard to ask them to fight Muslims. I also think we should be careful with the Muslim population of this country, and not let it get out of hand – although the US policy is to accept refugees from countries we “invade” – like we shouldn’t do!

Are you telling me that it’s unfair to demand that American Muslims fight against foreign Muslims who are killing American citizens? Hi JAB: As I navigate around my community I hear no cheers for Obama where last year at this time all we heard was: “Obama will save us!”. All I hear are the shop owners who are desperate as business is so bad- especially tourism related and retail business. I just returned from the hair salon and a woman who bitterly supported Obama against criticism several of us leveled against him sat in silence while the rest of us compared notes on the economy and the state of our businesses. She said not one word in defense as she had just 4 months ago. People who actually have companies and cannot pay their bills because no one is walking through their doors are a more accurate barometer of what is going on than is MSNBC or CNN. We are the backbone of the country and as our revenue dwindles so does the ability of anyone with on ounce of economic savvy to say that anything Ospendourfutureintooblivion has been of a long-term stimulative nature. Government is capable only of re-arranging the deck chairs while the ship continues to sink. I saw a poll today that said that 58% of Americans think the next president is likely to be a republican. Only 28% say it will be a democrat. The ACORN inspired democrats of the 08 election stayed home from the polls last week by the droves. That tells me that only the weak minded do not see what is going on.

LiZ-Obama and the VA-In February fresh out of the presidency box-Obama tried to cut the VA HEALTH CARE BENEFITS-Obama and gang(Pelosi et al) tried to cut and have the veterans pay for their health care-(remember that people) the VA slammed them-fought back hard-the issue was dropped fast and the VA also won new and betther benefits for their veterans including better education-where their education and housing is paid for as they go along without waiting for payment-The administration does not fool with them any longer that is why they did not delay their budget.THE VA became stronger than ever – GOD BLESS THEM

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance[...]

Eleven of the most prominent veterans organizations have been lobbying Congress to oppose the idea. In the letter sent last week to the president, the groups warned that the idea “is wholly unacceptable and a total abrogation of our government’s moral and legal responsibility to the men and women who have sacrificed so much.”

So much for overhauling the VA and improving health care for our wounded warriors.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 30% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -10 (see trends).

Poll of LIKELY voters where others used registered voters in their polls which makes other polls less accurate.

Real Clear Politics poll averages all the polls which shows that an average of 55.8 of those polled believe the country is on the wrong track and that Obama has a just a +8 rating and Congress has a -42.0 job approval. This is why Obama is allowing congress to do his dirty work…he thinks people are dumb enough to not connect the congress with him. BTW…congressional democrats have just 8/10th of one percent (.8) better approval over republicans.

Liz – you bestow much honor on me when you suggest that I am Sterling. I’m sorry to disappoint you but not everyone that decides to chime in is Sterling. Unfortunately for you there are other people that read this blog that do not agree with you. I do not wish to quarrel with you since it would be futile to do so. You should really work on your people skills. I admit you do have a lot to contend with here due to the fact you are out-numbered and you are in way over your head. These people are serious about what they post and you are so flippant and disrespectful. Maybe you should have concentrated on the issues before you helped to elect the celebrity in chief. You surely would fare better here if you had done your homework in advance. I can understand how frustated you appear to be and how hard it is to scramble and come up with substantial information to support your celebrity in chief. Especially since there is so little out there for you to pull from. One word that does come to mind when reading your posts – rattled.

yes the Military should of done something about Hasan, but it is what it is..a terrorist attack on our soil…and we need to look into this terrorist and who he is connected with,

Thanks to an intrepid blogger with the tag Trapdoc posting a letter to Mark Steyn, the search for the Wikipedia Libelist responsible for damaging posts to the Rush Limbaugh account apparently has been narrowed to the IP address of a New York City law firm:
“The quotes were added by a user with the IP address of 69.64.213.146. This address has been used mostly to make changes to the article about Rush, but also Karl Rove, Sean Hannity,.. James Dobson and Sara Palin from 2005 until earlier this year.
“While others have noted this in various forums, no one seems to have made the connection that this IP address is used as a gateway by the law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP (see here, for example) that all users from that IP address come from the pbwt.com domain.)”

Generic Congressional Ballot
Republicans Jump to Six-Point Lead on Generic Ballot
Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Republican candidates have stretched their lead over Democrats to six points in the Generic Congressional Ballot.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 43% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 37% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent. Republicans have held the lead for over four months now.

Voters not affiliated with either party continue to heavily favor Republicans, 43% to 20%.

Health care for veterans has been more difficult and expensive because soldiers and marines that used to die in theater are now saved by advanced technology. More soldiers with severe wounds live now and require extensive recovery periods than they did during Viet Nam, Korea, and the World Wars. Thus the increased cost and a system unable to keep up with the demand. Hmmmm, kind of how our private system is headed if Obamacare passes.

Wikipedia can be hacked and was hacked by a person who’s IP address was linked to someone who decided it was cool to destroy the reputations of conservatives as did the man who is the President of the Players Association who decided to use his influence to destroy Rush’s opportunity to participate in a private enterprise by attributing fabricated racial statements to Rush. He is an Obama acolyte and at the very least worked in the Obama transition team in Eric Holder’s office.

If you are proud of this type of behavior on behalf of destroying racial relations and the reputations of innocent private citizens by agents of the Obama administration, then no wonder you are right at home with Organizing for America and the Obama administration.

You call people who hold opinions you don’t share NEGATIVE. Well if telling the truth about Obama is negative, then so be it. I am proud to be for truth and the protection of freedoms and the rights of private citizens and I am against the criminal enterprises of a bunch of power hungry socialists.

The Gallup survey, conducted Nov. 5-8, found that 48 percent of respondents said they would vote for a Republican candidate for Congress, while 44 percent said they would back a Democrat.

Independent voters were decidedly stronger in their preference for a Republican candidate, choosing the GOP by a 22 percent margin — 52 to 30 percent — according to the survey.

Oh wait, I guess Gallup is a right wing based poll.

There’s no question that the Republicans’ bill is cheaper because it does so little to help the uninsured. According to the Congressional Budget Office, it would provide $61 billion over 10 years to expand coverage, compared with more than $1 trillion in the Democrats’ bill.

That paltry effort, the budget office estimates, would extend coverage to a few million people who would otherwise be uninsured in 2019, leaving 52 million citizens and legal residents below Medicare age without coverage or about 17 percent of that population, right where it is today. This is a dismaying abdication of responsibility.

The Republican bill is an amalgam of market-oriented and state-based reforms that conservatives have long proposed, including enhancement of tax-sheltered accounts to help pay premiums and allowing people to buy insurance in other states that might permit skimpier benefits than their home state.

It has some good provisions, such as prohibiting insurers from imposing annual or lifetime caps on what they will pay and automatic enrollment of workers in employer-sponsored group coverage. But it would not prevent insurers from denying coverage or charging higher premiums based on pre-existing conditions.

The proper term is spinning Sterling. They don’t “skew” polls, they just make chit up and pass it off as truth.

The historical fact is that this Country always corrects it’s self over time, for the most part. There is not now nor will there ever be a permanent majority, nor will there be a 3rd party that is viable. The rules are stacked against it.

Democrats will get kicked out for over spending, just as the GOP was over the last 2 elections. Anyone that thinks otherwise simply doesn’t know what they are talking about or has ever really read any History.

I like the Black Caucus school of economics. You print money and put it into the system. That money runs around and eventually gets back to the government to send around again. What they don’t take into account is the money that winds up in foreign hands for oil, clothing and all the cheap Chinese chit at Walmart. Only a small percentage is recirculated. The balance has to be new money from the printing presses.

In return for relieving the debt—and thereby reducing the likelihood that the lending countries might invade and slice up the newly united states, the central government assumed responsibility not only for debts but also for the common interests of all of the states.

How did I make a fool out of myself? Of course taxes are a huge part of the gov’t’s income, but they also make money from investments – which at one time was a lot more – and they cut taxes because of their good investments. But then they decided to ruin the economy. Too bad.

That’s disgusting and sick! Most people in this country do NOT think like you. No one gets welfare checks anymore. They might get food stamps and rent subsidies if they can’t work for some reason, but the welfare system has been changed quite a bit. The economy is not the best at the moment, in case you haven’t noticed. I think our top priority should be our citizens and their healthcare, not terrorists who pose no threat to us. I just watched an interview with Scozzafarva (the GOP candidate in NY23 who quit for the conservative candidate who lost) LOL She says the GOP is purging itself of independent thinkers and problem solvers. They want “puppets” they can control and this is going to lead them right into obscurity. She thinks the party will die. She’s so much smarter than Hoffman – HUGE difference in speaking ability. A group of doctors overseeing Nidal Malik Hasan’s medical training discussed concerns about his overly zealous religious views and strange behavior months before the Army major was accused of a shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, that left 13 dead and 29 wounded.

Doctors and staff overseeing Hasan’s training viewed him at times as belligerent, defensive and argumentative in his frequent discussions of his Muslim faith, a military official familiar with several group discussions about Hasan said. The official was not authorized to speak publicly about the meetings and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The concerns about Hasan’s performance and religious views were shared with other military officials considering his assignment after he finished his medical training, and the consensus was to send the 39-year-old psychiatrist to Fort Hood, the official said.

Fox News’ Sean Hannity responded to Jon Stewart Wednesday evening after the Daily Show host called out the network for using old footage from a larger September 12, 2009 “Tea Party’ protest to illustrate a much smaller health care rally on Capitol Hill last week.

Speaking directly to the camera, Hannity said that it pained him to admit it, but Stewart was correct.

“And although it pains me to say this, Jon Stewart, Comedy Central, he was right. Now on his program last night, he mentioned that we had played some inccorect video on this program last week while talking about the Republican health care rally on Capitol Hill. He was correct, we screwed up. we aired some video of a rally in september along with a video from the actual event. It was an inadverdent mistake, but a mistake none the less. I remember also that the platform upon which he ran last year included pacifying his anti-war followers by saying he would get us out of these wars. The 1,990-page bill is breathtaking in its bone-headed audacity. The notion that a small group of politicians can know enough to design something so complex and so personal is astounding. That they were advised by “experts” means nothing since no one is expert enough to do that. There are too many tradeoffs faced by unique individuals with infinitely varying needs.

Taking the results of our actions to those who helped attack us, which resulted in freeing women from the shackles of the Taliban, a reasonable person would assume the burden of providing the security of that continuing freedom, would seem to be a given. Hmm, I did say reasonable person didn’t I? In any event, it must be in our best interest to be certain, or as certain as we can be, that it does not repeat, which most certainly will happen if we pull out before the job is done.

I have seen too many friends off to war and the results of war to wish to see another. That said, I will not allow others to intend harm to our way of life to do so with impunity. That, in my book, is a traitor or a liberal, which is generally close to the same thing.

One of the provisions to pay for this Bill is to tax the Cadillac Health Plans that already exist.

I’m very well, Kevin, thank you for asking. Glad to hear of your good new! I read about your friend. That’s great! My brother has been unemployed since April. Keep you fingers crossed for him, he’s had multiple interviews with two companies, and it sounds as if he’ll land one, if not both, and then have a choice. Times are tough for everyone. He’s an accountant with a bachelors and has had no bites for months. His severance ran out months ago. He’s been living on his retirement savings.

In a new blog post for the Daily Beast as Ann Coulter and HBO host Bill Maher are kicking off a week-long debate tour today in New York, McCain calls President Obama “the hippest politician around” and says being a Republican is “about as edgy as Donny Osmond.”

And she blasts Coulter for helping to “perpetuate negative stereotypes” about Republican women. “I straight up don’t understand this woman or her popularity,” says McCain. “I find her offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time.”

She concedes that Coulter seems to be followed by a “cult that cannot be denied,” and was a popular headliner at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference, but adds that “when your competition is a teenager who has a dream about the Republican Party and Stephen Baldwin, it’s not really saying that much.”

It’s not Coulter’s politics, says McCain – it’s her personality. “Maybe her popularity stems from the fact that watching her is sometimes like watching a train wreck,” she says.

Good job…they tend to tick me off pretty quickly with all their negativism – learned from Hannity and Beck I guess! I try not to watch too much of them, but I can imagine the effect they have on people who watch daily.

I could replace the word “liberal” in there with the word “conservative” and that would represent my point of view – and the views of the mainstream – and more closely represent the TRUTH! Liberals (progressives) are responsible for most, if not all, of the progress in this country for the past 100 years. I truly believe that without them our society would be much more repressive. There are some bad ones, sure, but every group has some bad in it. Wake up and stop letting someone else form your opinion!

Merle, there is NO WAY that the USA will EVER be Socialist, so you don’t have to worry about that. It’s a scare tactic used by the GOP to intimidate people who don’t know any better. They are targeting seniors (who tend to vote the most), and dissing minorities because they tend to not vote much…and I know this will backfire on them.

Remember, most educated people are PROGRESSIVE! It wasn’t always that way, but it is NOW. Read as much as you can, and don’t limit your news sources. News networks used to “fact check” everything, but now that’s rarely done, so there’s a lot out there that is not believable – especially on FOX! They tend to be the worst offenders, but other cable news networks are also guilty.

Notice on this blog that most people just repeat FOX talking points – not many original thoughts here – and NO explanations about how their opinions were formed, which is critical. No one can explain their own political views, they just “agree” with the pundits, like you do.

I’m trying to be nice – even to someone who has called me terrible names because I don’t agree with them. I’m explaining myself. My opinions have changed almost completely in the past 18 months because I took the time to do research and educate myself. I am confident that I have chosen the “right” side! I find that “pundits” who use negativity to get their point across usually get negative responses from the majority. Negative people will agree with them.

The Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people in a shooting spree at Fort Hood made or accepted wire transfers with Pakistan, a country wracked by Muslim extremist violence, a Republican congressman said Friday.

Texas Rep. Michael McCaul, the ranking GOP member of the House Homeland Security Intelligence Subcommittee, said people outside the intelligence community with direct knowledge of the transfers also told him Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan also had communications with Pakistan.

McCaul said he does not know the direction of the transfers and communications, only that they passed between Hasan and Pakistan. He said the lack of additional information is why Congress should launch an investigation.
