Alisyn in the Greenroom

Saturday Morning

New details this morning about the horrible massacre at Ft. Hood.  What element of the story has struck you most?

What would you do if your child were forced to get a Swine Flu vaccine at school without your permission?  That happened at one school.  We’ll tell you what parents are doing.

Alisyn,

Good morning. It is good to be able to watch the program again after having worked 7 days per week since June. While I have always carried insurance, what is this country coming to – 5 years in jail for failure to buy insurance? If you have not had the notion the federal government is sticking its nose where it does not belong – you probably got the notion now?

Good morning from Flyover.

There have been enough incidents now in the military involving Muslims in uniform, that we should take a close look at banning them from MILITARY service. Obummer can have them in his Civilian Security Force if he wishes.

By the way. I am not rushing to conclusions when I state that I believe that this was JIHAD, inspired by radical Islamic teaching.

It is what it is….. a Act of Terrorism.

Good Morning to Everyone!! :D

If my child were forced to have a Swine Flu vaccine against my permission, I would sue the pants off off the school!!!

Here are my picks….Giants over SD
Pittsburgh over Denver
Baltimore over Cincinnati
Philly over Dallas

P.S. I adopted a dog from the Humane Society yesterday!! A Siberian husky! I named him Frost and he’s SUCH a smart boy!! :)

Comment by Ed Reining

I agree with the gentleman that calls this Islamic Terrorism. We have known since 2001 that sleeper cells and individuals would try to pull off mass shootings. Is he tied with Alqueda (sp) or any Mosque who knows, he was sympathetic to the enemy.

We had Japanese fighting Japanese, Korean’s fighting Korean’s, and German’s fighting Germans throughout our histors. If you want to go back to the civil war family members were fighting family members. If a person living in the US and received his entire education through the military and does not want to fight other Islamist he should have left the country before accepting his ROTC scholarship.

I was disturbed to see that Fox News would put the name of the establishment that the firearms used in the Fort Hood massacre were purchased from. This is unnecessary information and a unnecessary pubilcity for the establishment. If it was a legal purchase than the retail store does not need to be brought into the news because it did nothing wrong.

Good Morning Everyone :)
Ft Hood killings were an act of Islamic Terroism..
I agree with OLIN Keep muslims out of our forces….
Political correctness has gone TOO far…
Our soldiers got killed and OBUMMA didn’t have the decency to go to FT Hood…. but he sure had time to go to NJ to help that crook Corzine…
The speech Obuma made after the shootings left me speechless…..

Comment by Liz K

The PC hypocritical media coverage of the Ft Hood tragedy is appalling. Diane Sawyer actually said something to the effect of “if only his name had been Smith.” This is just a guess, but I imagine if a Christian had killed a group of Muslims, the media wouldn’t be so quick to say it wasn’t related to religion.

Comment by capmotion

Yeah, that school attorney Worona is correct: he is not a criminal lawyer. You intentionally stab someone with a needle, that is battery if the person does not want to be stabbed, regardless of your intent or good motivations! If I see a mole on your face and I think you would be more attractive without it, you think I can walk up and rip it off without your permission and not be prosecuted for battery? Uh…, NO!

I work at a health care facility that has imported many Muslims for residency programs. Many of these people come here for an education but bring with them their anti American attitudes. They do not like working with women and many despise having to examine women patients. A group of Muslim physicians complained about our Christmas decorations and activities and so now “Christmas” is banned from the facility. I would never discriminate against someone because of nationality or religion but many resent people coming into our country and taking advantage of our prosperity but despising who we are and trying to change our traditions. Political correctness has reached an all time level of foolishness in this country. The fact is that there are many Islamic radicals in this country and it is dangerous to turn a blind eye to it in order to avoid appearing “politically incorrect.” The Muslim religion does advocate violence against people who do not agree with their religion. I realize not all Muslim’s subscribe to this but there are those who do. We have a group in our region who live in a rural area in what could be described as a commune. They do not integrate with society at all but communicate with their religious leader who is regarded as a prophet of god. This fellow does not live in this country. They do of course take advantage of this country’s tax exempt status though they will not let their children be exposed to our “corrupt” society. Why are they here?

Have the authorities investigating the Fort Hood killings mentioned that MAJ Hasan seems to have targeted women? That would be in line with a disproportionate anger he may have had towards women. He had been looking for a wife (unsuccessfully), and due to his Muslim faith may have been angry about women serving in the military. If this is the case – it’s ironic he was taken down by a female police officer.

Hi Merle PC is not what it was ,,,now its PC= PUT CEARLY!

Comment by capmotion

Frank C, that is a good point, which I used to make all the time, because there really is nothing that is truly, all American anymore…, except possibly some Nissan and Toyota brands! But we are a people of symbols, even if the substance does not fully support the symbols, and buying a, say, Land Rover, specifically identified as British [although not really], instead of a Tahoo or Jeep or something like that says much about the person, even if the vehicle’s components, when closely examined, might reveal something about the item other than expected.

Comment by Me

Merle try to put a space in the word somewhere it helps sometimes

Comment by Frank C

Wasnt Congressman Clyburn caught saying…”a lot of what Congress does is not covered by the Constitution”

Comment by chas

Social Security isn’t covered by the Constitution either.

chas

Comment by capmotion

chas, I think it is always necessary for constitutional purists to bay at the moon about tyranny and usurpation, even if there are antecedent usurpations and tyrannies on which the subsequent steps are based, because otherwise scoundrels will come to believe their perfidies are being ratified by their victims, and I will not ratify outrages against me, even if I am the only one to speak the truth.

There is no such thing as radical Muslims. What makes Muslims is their belief in the Koran. The Koran tells them to kill the infidel (which are unbelievers) There is no radical in that – it’s pure belief in their Muslim religion.

chas, to show how building blocks of non-oppression can invite oppressive steps, note an argument by an established constitutional scholar about why the congress’s affirmative command in the proposed national health care is okay with him: “The important point here is that jury duty, like draft registration, serves as a precedent for the imposition by the federal government of an affirmative duty on citizens.” He says because the military draft and compelled jury duty are lawful legal commands, this one is! Huh??? Uh, the Constitution expressly contemplates jury trials and military establishments, so those mandates are “necessary and proper” to carrying out those express powers; health care is nowhere provided nor contemplated in the national constitition, so there is nothing “necessary and proper” to carrying out that nothing! But that does not deter purposeful “scholars” from advocating tyranny. That sort of argument is embarassing to us true constitutional scholars!

Notice when these Islamic/Muslim ‘incidents happen” we are not to rush to judgement and you hear from the Islamic/Muslim communites that these incidents to not speak for the majority of the Islamic/Muslim communites and that they ‘Cringe” when these incidents happen.What have they ever done or could do when these incidentshappen.NOTHING-What could they do? They could STAND UP AND TAKE THEIR RELIGION BACK-CLEAN UP THEIR MOSQUES-It is widely preceived that these MOSQUES -most of them-Harbour extreme fundamentalists-and are using that religion for pure H A T E -when we do not feel good about ourselves we go to church,synagoues for peace,prayers or turn to our preists,pastors,rabbis for guidance and help.Also anyone can come to our houses of worship-we are not allowed into a Mosque. If these Decent people really care-they would take back their MOSQUES so that they to can use it as what is was meant to be, a peacefull place for prayer.So until they can do that-they can keep cringing- p.s.-Barack “Hussein” Obama definitly should have been at FT.HOOD. remember during campaign we were not allowed to use his middle name-when he became president he put the Hussein back in.

What the heck does Merle’s name have to do with any of today’s topics? I’m sure that she, or he, for that matter, had no more to do with the choice of name than color of skin. No one’s playing with you today, so you have to pick a fight by bullying someone who said nothing to you or about you?

If you’ve ever bothered to read any of her posts, you’d know that she’s a good kid taking care of an ill parent. Good job of making an ass out of yourself yet again.

Comment by Liz

Conservathink.com is not my cup of tea, so no thanks! Thousands showed up at the rally today and not very many GOP Blue Hair Tea Baggers! I think they were scared to show up. I don’t believe any of those polls – most Americans want nationalized health care – and there were lots of used-to-be Republicans there!

Get with the program people – you are going to have a great healthcare system. The Republicans I talked with today said they can’t support the GOP anymore because they simply have nothing to offer.

Comment by chas

Obooboo has now heard from members of the AMA and they don’t like the Government taking over health care.

The President can cry all he wants over the “profits” of the health care industry but IRS reveals that health care insurance companies make only an 8% profit on a general basis. That puts them around number 35 of top earners in this Country.

This isn’t about coverage for uninsured, or better coverage or lower cost, it’s about power and control.

remember what Bill Clinton said; “When they tell you it isn’t about the money, it’s about the money”. Possibly the only truth he ever spoke in Office.

have a great evening all.

chas

Comment by Liz

There’s no doubt this will pass in the House and if the Senate stalls it, they know their seats are in serious jeopardy. I hope it’s worth it to them! The AMA totally endorses the bill, so chuckie is passing misinformation again – post a link chuckie!!! Their profits are tremendous – just look at the balance sheets of United Healthcare, Prudential, etc. – they all posted record profits this quarter. It’s not about power and control, it’s about WE THE PEOPLE, not WE THE CORPORATIONS. Remember what the founding fathers said about financial institutions running the country chuckie!

Comment by Liz

“I urge members of Congress to rise to this moment. Answer the call of history, and vote yes for health insurance reform for America,” he said.

Participants also said Obama had referred to this week’s shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, in which 13 people were killed. His remarks put in perspective that the hardships soldiers endure for the country are “what sacrifice really is,” as opposed to “casting a vote that might lose an election for you,” said Rep. Robert Andrews, D-N.J.

Democrats hold a 258-177 majority in the House, meaning they could afford 40 defections and still be certain of having an absolute majority of 218.

At least 20 Democrats announced opposition in advance, but it appeared that a compromise brokered Friday night on the volatile issue of abortion had finally secured the votes needed to pass the legislation.

Conservathink.com is not my cup of tea, so no thanks!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can certainly understand why you might say that. After all it does have the word “think” in the link.
And – everyone I have talked to today is talking about health care. They are mad as hell and they are not going to forget this day and it will definitely come back to haunt the Dumbocrats in 2010.
When you are in over your head you resort to name calling and finger pointing. Leave these people alone. They have as much right to post here as you do!! Maybe you should take a sabbatical and brush up on your people skills. That would certainly be a refreshing thing for people like me that come here to learn from the people that have something to say and the facts to back it up.
I know I don’t know as much as I should about the politics of today but at least I sit here and keep my mouth shut!
And before you advise me of my people skills – this post has been a long time in the making – a very long time.
Now with that having been said – I feel much better now!
The rally in Royal Oak, Michigan was put on by left wing fringer whacko group Organizing for America, formerly known as Obama for America. It is a community organizing group steeped in leftist socialistic dogma. They even have a logo that matches Obama’s logo. Now we know who Liz works for.
Good evening, first off this health care reform is nothing but power and control for the DimWits. I hope that most of them get a clue and realize that their butts are going to be out if they vote this bill into law. It is a senseless big spending and power grab bill. It is a job killer and a budget killer for our economy.
Comment by Mary
Hi Carolyn, I just read your post and it wouldn’t surprise me that she does.
Also isn’t it funny how the anointed one goes to Camp David for a weekend instead of going to Fort Hood. However President and Mrs. Bush went to Fort Hood. That in itself speaks volumes to me.
Comment by Mary
Oh gee, the anointed one is going to wait until Tuesday to visit Fort Hood. What a joke both of them are.
Comment by carolynro
Hi Mary. Nice to see you. Yes, it is indicative of what a jerk Obama is that he could not bring himself to go to Fort Hood. You saw that George Bush went there to console the families.
Comment by carolynro
Obama is a cold hearted snake and each day he makes even his fans a bit uncomfortable that he is so selfish and so self-involved.
Comment by chas
I knew Lizzie couldn’t do it.
Liberals are oh so predictable.
Mary, the GOP is counting on you dimwits to keep them alive – unfortunately there aren’t that many of you left. Good luck in 2010 – you’re going to need it!
I urge all of you to watch CSPAN right now – the debates are going on. Of course the Dems. are sounding highly intelligent and the GOP sounds typical – spewing their “fuzzy” math and proving that they’ve been “bought” by lobbyists. Go watch and learn!
Comment by Liz
It wouldn’t matter what Obama did about Ft. Hood Carolynro – you right wingnuts would disparage him anyway, and he knows that! LMAO!
Comment by Liz
Not passing affordable healthcare will cause more job losses and a depressed economy! That’s a fact! You should be happy that from now on you won’t have to depend on a job you may not like because you need healthcare and you have a “pre-existing” condition. The GOP’s bill wants a “study” about “pre-existing” conditions. They didn’t address that at all. Also, go back and watch Fox & Friends this morning. They had a lawyer on who explained why tort reform may cause more harm than good. I couldn’t believe I was watching FOX. Maybe the really are trying to be more “balanced”. We’ll see!
HarleyDee, you sound like Sterling! Are you one of her “many” family members – or maybe you are HER! LOL
There are more and more of independants that have realized that they made a mistake with the 2008 elections. They are calling it Voters Remorse. There is a movement in America that has decided that we do NOT want government taking over anything in our lives.
Physicians assistants have always been used in hospice care. Physicians are too busy for that. PA’s are very good – and sometimes better than physicians….absolutely nothing wrong with that!
I’m still reading the WSJ article – thanks Chuckie!
Comment by Liz
Where are they Mary? I didn’t meet any today! Most of the “former” Republicans I met today are “mad as hell” that the party has gone “nuts”!
Comment by chas
Once again, numbers seldom lie. When you examine the numbers you can see who is really out of touch and it certainly indicates the loony left wing fringe nuts that can’t accept reality.
Because the numbers are what they are:
Obama disapproval now @ 44%
Congress disapproval now @ 66.7%
Wrong direction for Country @ 56%
Chas, read the article with the WSJ. Very eye opening as to what the dimwits want to accomplish. I have listened to Betsy McCaughney before and she has read the 1990 pages of the bill as well as the previous bill that went equally with all the amendments. It is surprising, that this will be forced down our throats, and costs us trillions and trillions and the dimwits won’t blink an eye for taking our money from us through higher taxes, and taking away from medicare. It states directly in that bill that we will be forced into the government run health care, and Nazi Pelosi and the anointed one keeps saying it won’t, that we will be able to keep our health insurance that we have now. Talking out both sides of their mouths for the power and control.
Comment by Mary
and Chas hasn’t his approval rating dropped faster than any President to date? I read that somewhere. Of course those on the left will say that polls don’t matter, huh? Polls only matter when they are high.
Comment by Liz
If you’re not listening to CSPAN right now, you are missing out on a lot! Listen to the “substance” of the discussions. Very telling!
Mary Mary Quite Contrary – you will be paying a lot LESS and get a lot MORE! LISTEN!!! The GOP is offering nothing but more of the same – higher premiums, less care, more profits for Corporations. I don’t think that’s what you really want!
Comment by Liz
If you make more than a quarter of a million then yes, you will be paying higher taxes. LARGE companies will be paying higher taxes, not small business – the backbone of America! Listen and try to comprehend. That’s where you are going wrong!
Comment by Liz
Obama’s approval rating doesn’t mean much at the moment – and the White House is not paying much attention to the polls. This time next year his approval rating will be thru the roof. Watch and learn!
Comment by Liz
If you think it’s very important to keep track of Obama’s approval rating, use this one because it averages all the polls – which can be slanted one way or the other. His overall rating doesn’t change much from week to week.
Chuckie – I don’t like this kind of reckless spending – and neither does your friend Capmotion!
Obama campaigned saying that he’d fund the Iraq and Afghanistan wars from the defense budget, but Adm. Michael Mullen , the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said last week that the Afghan war — which some administration officials privately concede could cost $700 billion to $1 trillion — might require a supplemental funding bill next year. Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said the White House hasn’t asked for cost estimates for any of the options it’s considering.
Because of these pressures, it’s become “highly likely that the administration would send more troops,” said Paul Pillar , the director of Strategic Studies at Georgetown University . “Then it is a matter of degree,” particularly given the struggling U.S. economy.
For all the debate and deliberation, however, the proposed new deployments still may not answer the fundamental question about Afghanistan , Pillar said: Would a Taliban -controlled Afghanistan pose a threat to the United States ?
Comment by Liz
If we pulled out, we wouldn’t have to raise taxes on anyone for the healthcare bill – and everyone would be happy!
Comment by chas
I must point out, once again, that someone has said they weren’t going to talk to me if I didn’t address them.
I can only assume that like Obooboo’s promise to be for public campaign funding before he was against it, liberals are incapable of keeping their word. Or like the Speaker’s pledge to make the health care available for the public to read 72 hours before the vote.
I am simply reporting the News and polls, Obooboo’s rating is from RCP as well as the wretched numbers for the Congress and the direction of the Country. Only La La Land people on the banks of the river in Egypt ignore such numbers.
Comment by Liz
Congress ALWAYS has poor approval ratings….and I’m sure it always will. Sorry, chuckie, I’m just asking you to post proof when I think you are posting misinformation – which happens a lot, so I guess I can’t stop talking to you. You post stuff from out of the blue with nothing to back it up, and that’s kinda irritating, but it’s the right-wing fringe way I guess! And if I’ve told you once, I’ve told you 1,000 times I’m NOT liberal. I am somewhat progressive and somewhat conservative, but definitely NOT ultra-conservative like all the reps in Washington now. I want them all OUT, and replaced with “normal” conservatives.
Are you learning to do math that’s not fuzzy yet?
EBay Inc. has settled a legal skirmish with the founders of Skype that threatened to complicate eBay’s plans to sell most of the Internet phone service to a group of investors for $2 billion.
The online marketplace operator said Friday the settlement gives Skype ownership of critical software that had been licensed from Joltid Ltd., which is a company founded by Skype co-founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis. The settlement effectively ends Zennstrom and Friis’ litigation against the investor group and eBay.
When eBay announced the sale in September — after exploring plans to spin out Skype through a public stock offering — it said the investor group would buy 65 percent of Skype for $1.9 billion in cash and $125 milion to be paid later. EBay was to own the remaining 35 percent.
I see some Dems out of work after 2010.
I’d like to see 534 members of Congress out of work in the next few years. It might remind them of who is actually in charge, and it isn’t them.
Hoyer, you are an idiot, you should read the Constitution and listen to the American’s, the majority of who, think this is an intrusion on the peoples individual’s rights.
The sad thing is that even when these idiots who ignore the people they are suppose to represent toss them out of Office, they will still receive a retirement package that we, the over taxed, will pay for.
Stand by, America will not stand by for tyranny, at least I hope that we have not become euroweenies yet.
I believe the Senate will stall and balk. As they should since this is in no way shape or form Constitutional.
Ida grew into a hurricane for a second time as it roared over the Caribbean on a path that could take it between Mexico’s resort-studded Yucatan Peninsula and Cuba before heading for the southern United States.
Tour operators and fishermen along Mexico’s Caribbean coast, including Cancun, pulled their boats out of the water Saturday in anticipation of rains and winds from Ida’s outer bands. But the hurricane appeared unlikely to make direct hits on either Mexico or Cuba, with its forecast track passing over the Yucatan Channel that separates the countries on Sunday.
Cancun’s beaches were empty on Saturday as rain began pelting down, but tourists walked the streets under umbrellas or improvised rain ponchos. Most appeared unconcerned.
As I worry about my ex-coworkers losing their jobs and not affording health care, I’m appreciative the lobbyists and their money could not stop the House bill on health care.
What strikes me most about the the Ft. Hood story is how those who knew Maj. Malik were very much aware of his “anti-American propaganda.” Why in, of all places, a military installation, was he not investigated? Why was he allowed to stay in a position in the US military if he was so anti-American and emotionally unstable to boot?
I understand that we don’t want to be predjudiced toward peaceful Muslims living here, but it’s dangerous to ignore potential threats just because we don’t want to step on political toes.
Peggy,
Very well said and I concur.
Kevin,
You should worry more about how much more it is going to cost them and their kids down the road since history already provides you an example of what happens when Government meddles with private enterprise.
Read up on what happen to medical cost in the late 60’s when LBJ and his “Great Society” implemented medicade and medicare.
Three days of heavy rains in El Salvador touched off floods and slides that have killed at least 91 people, the government said Sunday.
Dozens are still missing, and about 7,000 are in shelters, Interior Minister Humberto Centeno told a news conference.
Authorities had to use helicopters to reach some of the most severely affected townships, Centeno added.
In the capital of San Salvador, authorities reported 61 dead including a family of four — two adults and two children — who were killed when a mudslide buried their home Sunday morning, Red Cross spokesman Carlos Lopez Mendoza reported.
What was officer Kim Munley doing on a army base?
Comment by Pau Gasol
A key U.S. senator said Sunday he would begin an investigation into whether the Army missed signs that the man accused of opening fire at Fort Hood had embraced an increasingly extremist view of Islamic ideology.
Sen. Joe Lieberman’s call for the investigation came as word surfaced that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan apparently attended the same Virginia mosque as two Sept. 11 hijackers in 2001, at a time when a radical imam preached there. Whether Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, associated with the hijackers is something the FBI will probably look into, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
Classmates participating in a 2007-2008 master’s program at a military college complained repeatedly to superiors about what they considered Hasan’s anti-American views. Dr. Val Finnell said Hasan gave a presentation at the Uniformed Services University that justified suicide bombing and told classmates that Islamic law trumped the U.S. Constitution.
A stench around the home of a suspected serial killer returned stronger than ever Wednesday as police searched the house next door for more bodies and carried out bags of evidence.
Four plainclothes officers carried bags of evidence from the house next door to Anthony Sowell’s early Wednesday afternoon, but police did not indicate what had been removed. The red-painted house next to Sowell’s appeared to be abandoned but in good shape, aside from a broken porch railing.
The 50-year-old Sowell has been charged with five counts of aggravated murder. He was indicted Monday on one count of attempted murder, two counts of rape, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of felonious assault in an alleged attack Sept. 22 that led to the search of his home.
