Good morning Ms Alisyn,

Happy Halloween. Boo…lol

There wasn’t much money for real costumes when I was growing up so I was always the cowboy, hobo and such.

Hope the kids have fun tonight, it’s really all about them today. ;)

Comment by Lanna

Good morning, Alisyn and everyone.

Favorite costume — I wore my security guard uniform and dressed my kid as a money bag using green sweats, a clear plastic trash bag and lots of play money.

Karl Rove’s favorite costume is probably a white board!

Hi Lori it has been a while since I seen you ,,,, last was when your daughter was in a car accident , how is she?? I’ve been keeping you & your family on my prayer list and am hoping everything is fine now for you all.

Comment by capmotion

I am not certain I am all that distressed about the treatment of the noisy brat on the plane. I am quite beside myself when there is a crying kid on a plane. My kids never did that, because I would not tolerate it, and I should not be victimized by other parents’ lack of control of their kids. Nor is it any acceptable defense that “all kids do that” or “it’s natural,” etc., because, no, all kids don’t, if properly raised, and it would be “natural” for humans to defecate on the street, but the fact that is it natural is not a defense for some cretin doing so – it’s one of the incidents of civilization that we rein in what is “natural.” And bratty kids need to be reined in, or, if in a close envireoinment like plane, train, etc., they need to be evicted.

Dr. Ghoul has some good points, but one of the reasons there is, in some places, a shortage of primary care physicians is due to the efforts of the profession to limit entry into the field. The AMA has, for a long time, pressed for limitations on medical school populations to artificially limit the supply to increase the demand so their members can make more money. I think the real free market should control medical services, and attendance in medical school, and that as many school slots as can be filled with competent people should be made available, and much of the problem would be solved. Here, as with everywhere, government should get out of the way. But so should the AMA.

Comment by Mary

Good Morning Alisyn and Happy Halloween to all.

Just listening to the young Doctor and I know of one such upcoming doctor enrolled at Penn State. Deans list, and if this bill passes he will NOT become a doctor. He has made up his mind because it will put the doctors under the control of the government. Smart young kid but sad to think because I think we need all the doctors and nurses we can get, but not if the bill passes.

Morning Eileen, Lori, Chas, Bruce,
Yes I did Eileen…. some tough games, hope we do as good as last week,
Lori that last play got me off the couch, and when he kept going, I knew we won the game,
I knew Brett would help us out….lol

LOL Sal!!!!! Me tooooo… I was jumping up and down!!!!!! So much so I felt like I fought a war the next morning.. LOL !!! I kept thinking … what the heck did I do yesterday that made me this sore???? LOL LOL Finally figured it out! Sad but true!

Troy made a big difference don’t you think? We are just a different defense when he is in the game.

Comment by Me

when you said Meleen it got me thinkin of an oriental girl,,,,,, so then I wondered

If you spin an oriental man in a circle three times, does he become disoriented?

Comment by Salvatore

I know Chas, just messing with you buddy.

Comment by Mary

Ok, wordpress ate my post. What I was trying to post is: Republicans have been trying to offer a different plan, however they were shut out, locked out and locks changed on committee meetings doors, and were not allowed access to offer ANY ideas.

The dems want complete control over our lives, period.

Comment by BruceWV

Comment by chas

Your defense was good. That’s why Brett had to throw the ball 51 times. AP did nadda.

chas

Comment by Salvatore

Lori… Troy being in the game…just makes everyone play better.

Comment by lori

Hmmmm… I think it was a catchable ball….. but I have to say Farve looked to have happy feet all day. If it weren’t for the stands that ball would have sailed into the Monongahela River!

Comment by Me

OK that was last weeks game!

Comment by lori

I don’t read the stats, but Chas tells me he played a better game. I don’t usually watch them so I am not familar with them at all, but they didn’t seem to be all that.

Comment by chas

In any case, it was a good game. But Favre isn’t supposed to have to toss the ball that much. Not bad though he was 66% completion, which isn’t bad for an old man….lol

chas

Comment by BruceWV

Gotta go hang a couple doors, so keep up the good fight.

Good morning everyone. Nice to see so many wonderful people here.
I suppose my most fun costume was when my husband and I went to a party dressed as little kids. He had little short pants and pulled a toy. Everyone thought it was wonderful since he was the big, tough football coach.

Comment by chas

The problem becomes then how do you stop them both? Which is why the games was so close because you end up giving Favre too much time to throw.

Favre had his 2 minute drill going, that one pass saved the game for you.

chas

I cheated once in a college science class. The question required math. I did the problem, but then saw the answer the guy in front of me had which was different from mine. He was one of those who always got every answer right, so of course I changed my answer. Yep, you guessed it….I had been right; he was wrong. I learned my lesson and didn’t cheat again!

As a former governor, Huck brings real world perspective to this Health Care problem.

Comment by carolynro

Hiho Sal!

I agree about Huck.

Lori: My husband grew up literally on the MSU campus. I, however was raised on Wolverine.

Comment by carolynro

This health “reform” is like taking your car in for an oil change and being told by the mechanic that the engine has to be pulled and the valves all re-ground and the transmission has to torn apart to make sure the oil change works.

Comment by lori

LMAO Carolyn really???? You have a mixed marriage??? I say my husband and I do too, he is a republican !

Comment by carolynro

Well, I grew up near MSU so it wasn’t so much of a stretch!

Republican I can handle….sort of… lol but if he were a Browns fan that would have been a deal breaker.. Right sal???? ;-)

Comment by capmotion

Institutionalization of stool-pigeonry is very dangerous and indistinguishable from the practices in Nazi Germany, where everyone was expected to become an informant on everyone, thereby pressing people closer to evil government and farther from each other. I cannot abide a tattle-tale, especially one who wants to sidle up to “the Man” to gain favor.

Comment by carolynro

Cap: My husband, when I give him the run down of the news of the day, frequently says: “Can you say 1984?” During the rise of the Nazis, children were encouraged to report their own parents for acts of sedition against the Reich.

Comment by Salvatore

I hear you Lori…lol

But, Frank…the rules are all different now. Activities by this president are not subject to the same scorn as were activities of GWB.

My local doctor’s practice (12 primary care doctors) got 35% of their flu vaccine. They cancelled a second Saturday Flu Vaccination Clinic. They ordered 9,000 doses and got 3150. Who allocates the number of doses a practice gets? IS the answer the GOVERNMENT?

Comment by Retro

The scariest costume to go as this year would be to glue 1990 pages of gobbledeygook to yourself and go as the health care bill!

Comment by carolynro

It is hard to believe that as we all watch and observe how just about everything that the government tries to “manage” turns into a disaster.

Hello Fox and Friends My husband and I watch your show every single day. Today is very special as it is our 22nd wedding anniversary. One year before we were married we went to a holloween fair. My then boyfriend put my wedding ring into a carmel apple. When I bite into it I thought it was a razor blade so I threw it to the ground and I started to cry. He ran after it telling me what it was a 2 carrot diamond. One year latter on oct 31st we were married. that was 22 years ago today. He is still the love of my life and my very best friend. We have had two wonderful children who are now all grown up. We also have our first grandson who is now 18mo old.

Look at that poll on trusting and re-electing members of congress! Wow!

“..A sizable majority of Americans (64 percent) say the country would be better off by throwing “most” members of Congress out, a jump of 19 percentage points from two years ago…”

Comment by Frank C

Ms Ali, looked like a kid in the candy story in the cutaway before the commercial…

Comment by Retro

That’s a great slogan, Renea Lopez!

My husband and I went to a costume party once as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Daisy and each won a massage from the resort where we were as a prize! When my husband came out of his, he said “They rubbed smelly stuff on me. I think it was turpentine.” I told him no, it was eucalpyptus oil. He said ” Well, am I gonna blow up when I light my cigar?” He is so funny!

As a kid I think I mostly had a sheet with holes cut for eyes as a costume, or my sister and I wore our ballet costumes. Mother had sewed those for hours and they were gorgeous. We attended dance class in the back of a gas station, LOL!

The lady should have asked her baby doc if she could give the little one some benadryl when we would fly our ped doc always said it was a good idea and it would calm the children down. Her child was most likely freaken out over all of the noise a plane makes and his ears presure

Well Kevin, I don’t know about Roy. I never told you, but Roy and I are old friends. We attended college together. We both were in the same field. We both are conservative thinkers. We even worked out together for a while at the Huntington YMCA. However, I hail from the southern part of the state. He lives in Huntington. He was the one who first turned me on to this blog a few months ago. So, I was taken aback when he announced that he was leaving the blog. I don’t have his telephone number or his email address. I only hope he scans this blog from time to time. I’d like to see him return. I have always enjoyed his insights. He is a lot more low key than I am, however. I don’t think he expected me to get right down the the mud and muck and fight along with all the others here who are ripping each other apart. Anyway, Roy. Old Buddy. If you’re out there…WE LOVE YA. COME ON BACK. KEVIN AND I WILL BE GOOD. Plus, the crazy whitepowerforfox person has left us.

BruceWV, you MUST be a real American. Only REAL Americans live in West Virginia. What part of the state do you hail from?

Hannity referred to Robert Gibbs, Obama’s Press Secretary as “Propaganda Minister” last night. And you say FOX is NOT a point of view??? Yeah, that’s “fair and balanced” – like Hannity’s mind – chaos!

Blogger, you haven’t been here long enough to know Roy? What are your other aliases?

Comment by chas

 Everyone is someone else. You need serious work.

Comment by olinl

It would benefit some people to study the difference between news and commentary.

Sean Hannity COMMENTS on news items, while bashing the administration.

Chris Matthews COMMENTS on news items, while fawning over Obummer.

Tammy Bruce COMMENTS on news items, while pointing out her differences with the administration.

Robert Gibbs is a fat guy that can’t sing or dance very well.

Jon Stewart makes fun of news items.

Neither should be confused with factual news.

Comment by olinl

I guess “Fair and Balanced” is a moving target according to your personal values!!!

Comment by Liz

LMAO! Jon Stewart is 10X more factual than anything on FOX!!!

They can comment, but they can’t deny that they are pushing a “point of view” and being overly critical of a successful administration! They have to dig for “obscure” news and blow it up all out of proportion. They have hired the best “dirt” diggers in the industry – I’ll give them that!!!

Comment by chas

Olin,

Comedy Central is much more fair and balanced than any other news program in the Country. I’m surprised you didn’t know that.

In fact everyone in La La Land finds it their best source of News.

according to Liz….the right ring exploits children in ads and commercials….seems I remember LBJ’s famous ad with he little girl and the flower, as a nuclear bomb goes off….when he ran against Goldwater….but….what do I know?….just the facts, mam…..just the facts! Hoot! Hoot!

Comment by Kevin

Just another Blogger,

Roy will check in some time if not from time-to-time. Old friends don’t leave us—even if only in our minds. They do make a statement. They impact us.

Through your words, Roy sounds like a wonderful gentleman. He obviously left an impact on you.

So Roy, come back and leave an impact on the rest of us.

Comment by Frank C

Olin, the other day I heard Chris Matthews ask trhe President when was he going to start taking responsibility for things (economic recovery, war) since “you have been in office long enough.”

Comment by olinl

It is about time, Frank. But taking responsibility for mistakes, does not explain the thinking that brought about the mistakes in the first place. Do something good for the country and the economy and he can blame Bush all he wants to.

Comment by olinl

I’ll stop being critical when this administration becomes successful as defined by reducing spending, lowering taxes and giving up on take over.

Comment by Liz

chuckie, you are so ignorant – and quite possibly illiterate – it’s sad! Stewart has a serious segment on his show every night – and he talks to more conservatives than liberals! Watch it sometime – much more informative than FOX. And guess what – he actually lets his guests speak! Have you ever seen a guest on Hannity or O’Reilly allowed to finish their sentence? I haven’t! LMAO!

I say you are illiterate because you obviously don’t read the links I supply with proof to back up EVERYTHING I say here!

Comment by Liz

There’s absolutely no take-over in the works – where ever did you get that idea? Is that right-wingnut talk again? The spending will be reduced greatly from what the GOP wants to spend to keep the status quo. I don’t understand why you guys can’t get it – but I guess with no way to figure things out, you just can’t!

Comment by olinl

Comment by Liz

Oh Jimmy – do you actually remember LBJ? Sorry, that was WAAAAAYYYYYY before my time – and everything about society has changed since then. I don’t think it’s fair to relate what’s going on today with 50 years ago! That was 2 generations ago.

Oh, I see olinl – you’d rather spend 2.5 trillion than a measly 800 billion! Makes perfect sense in your little nonsensical world in the back of the turnip truck!

Comment by olinl

The “Daisy Ad” came out one year before the Great Society. Gee, just look!! Ain’t we GREAT?

Comment by carolynro

Hi Dog,, Olin. What most folks don’t understand is that many of the so-called stimulus jobs were and are temporary. And very pricey. I guess it all depends on how you feel about spending money as a stop gap measure.

Comment by carolynro

Next year, someone will have to come up with the money again to keep the teachers and administrators this year’s allocation paid for to get them through the ‘09-’10 school year. It will be interesting to watch how all of the entities go through the pain of cutting once they realize the money was a one time budget hole plug-ger.

I only see one ignorant and foolish person here, but she doesn’t read my post so it is pointless to address any of her nonsense.

As an American I am not so shocked that Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize without any accomplishments to his name, but that America gave him the White House based on the same credentials.” – - Newt Gingrich

Loved the Seinfeld bit and the “after the show show”!

Well, that ad was close to 50 years ago – give or take a few – and you have to remember that at that time the Democrats were considered the “conservative” party. They were the “moral” party until the GOP solicited donations from the Christian Coalition – for whom they’ve done nothing! Have they tried to revoke Roe v. Wade? Ever? NOOOOOOOOOO! And they never will.

It was a whole different world – not remotely comparable to what’s going on today. You people really are living in the past. It’s almost beyond my comprehension that people think like you do. You are rare indeed.

Spooky!

Newt Gingrich could only hope to have HALF the respect that Obama has. He’s jealous! LMAO! What an analogy – and totally ridiculous. See how the GOP tries to mess with your minds! Obama has tons more accomplishments than Newt – yet you people still call him the “community organizer” because that’s what they want you to call him. Insane in the membrane!

Well, I’m off to a spook-a-thon. I thought about going as Ann Coulter, but changed my mind because I don’t want to annoy and scare anyone! LOLOLOLOL

A man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of setting a small fire at the temporary home for the remains of thousands of World Trade Center victims, police said.

Police announced the arrest nearly 12 hours after the fire, which was set following a break-in. Charges against the 26-year-old were pending, police said.

The smoldering flames in a section of the facility’s chapel on Manhattan’s East Side were quickly extinguished.

Firefighters got a call at about 9 a.m. to respond to Memorial Park, a weatherproof tent on Manhattan’s East Side where the city is storing the remains of 9/11 victims who have yet to be identified.

Hope was fading but a search for survivors was set to continue into a third day Sunday for nine people who went missing when a U.S. Coast Guard plane collided with a Marine Corps helicopter over the Pacific Ocean.

Rear Adm. Joseph Castillo said at a news conference Saturday evening that there was still a chance of finding survivors among the seven military personnel aboard the Coast Guard C-130 and the two in the Marine Corps AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter because all had access to heat-retaining drysuits and were in excellent physical shape.

A Pentagon official said Friday that the crash likely killed all aboard. But Castillo said Saturday the search was ongoing, and Coast Guard officials were still classifying it as a rescue mission.

I think the victory of a Conservative Party candidate could be exactly what the country is looking for……

Northern Nevadans enjoying the long Nevada Day weekend can hit the links or hit the slopes, thanks to cold overnight temperatures that made for good snowmaking conditions in the Sierra.

Mount Rose-Ski Tahoe southwest of Reno opened one lift and one run on Friday, and will be open during the three-day weekend. A spokesman says operators will evaluate conditions before deciding whether to open again next weekend.

Boreal Mountain Resort on Donner Summit west of Reno re-opened on Friday and plans to remain open for the season.

In the valleys of western Nevada, cold temperatures earlier in the week were replaced by high pressure and sunshine, making for mild conditions and perfect fall weather for Nevada Day celebrations in Carson City, or other outdoor activities.

We have all tried so hard to educate the uneducatable. I am determined, though, to keep my promise that I will continue being as nice as possible. Anyway, did any of you see the interview of Rush Limbaugh by Chris Wallace on Fox? Honestly, I wish Barrack Hussein Obumma had NEARLY the common sense that Limbaugh has. I wish Barrack Hussein Obungle had HALF the patriotic fervor that Limbaugh has. I wish Limbaugh were President and Bill O’Reilly were Vice President. Or vice versa. O’Reilly would be a GREAT president. He would not be a WIMP like the current WHITE HOUSE squatter is. We need a president with guts, common sense, and some pride in being American.

Do you know why liberals don’t like Ann Coulter? She SAYS what liberals need to be told in the WAY that they need to hear it. Liberals are hurting our country to the extent that they DO NOT DESERVE politeness from the people who know better. They are ARROGANT. If you don’t believe it, just look at what Pelosi and Reid are doing. They are trying to FORCE the public option through by trickery. They believe they can do anything they want to do. Well, I have a feeling that the American people are going to communicate a very forceful message to them at this election day. Prepare to LAUGH at the liberals as they try to explain why so many of their group are FORMER elected officials.

The great thing about Gingrich is the fact that he was Speaker of the House for YEARS and the country survived. How many of you have the same confidence in Barrack Hussein Obumma? I am sincerely concerned that he is going to BANKRUPT our country. How many of you believe you’ll be able to pay off your $343,000 of the country’s debt before you die? I’m afraid I won’t. You see, even if we all pay OUR $343,000, who will pay off the share owed by the liberal welfare recipients? They don’t pay taxes. Who will pay off the share owed by the very young, the disabled, etc. They don’t pay taxes either. I guess that’s why they liberals want to ABORT all the very young. That way, they can reduce their own tax burden.
Incidentally, since I have promised to at least attempt being nice, I’m going to read Ann Coulter’s “How to Talk to a Liberal” (assuming anyone would want to). Maybe she can give me some advice about how to handle this quite challenging undertaking.

At present, al Qaeda consists of a few hundred people running around in Pakistan, seeking to avoid detection and helping the Taliban when possible. It also has a disjointed network of fellow travelers around the globe who communicate over the Internet. Over the last decade, the group has almost completely discredited itself in the Muslim world due to the fallout from the 9/11 attacks and subsequent counterproductive terrorism, much of it directed against Muslims. No convincing evidence has been offered publicly to show that al Qaeda Central has put together a single full operation anywhere in the world since 9/11. And, outside of war zones, the violence perpetrated by al Qaeda affiliates, wannabes, and lookalikes combined has resulted in the deaths of some 200 to 300 people per year, and may be declining. That is 200 to 300 too many, of course, but it scarcely suggests that “the safety of people around the world is at stake,” as Obama dramatically puts it.

In addition, al Qaeda has yet to establish a significant presence in the United States. In 2002, U.S. intelligence reports asserted that the number of trained al Qaeda operatives in the United States was between 2,000 and 5,000, and FBI Director Robert Mueller assured a Senate committee that al Qaeda had “developed a support infrastructure” in the country and achieved both “the ability and the intent to inflict significant casualties in the U.S. with little warning.” However, after years of well funded sleuthing, the FBI and other investigative agencies have been unable to uncover a single true al Qaeda sleeper cell or operative within the country. Mueller’s rallying cry has now been reduced to a comparatively bland formulation: “We believe al Qaeda is still seeking to infiltrate operatives into the U.S. from overseas.”

Even that may not be true. Since 9/11, some two million foreigners have been admitted to the United States legally and many others, of course, have entered illegally. Even if border security has been so effective that 90 percent of al Qaeda’s operatives have been turned away or deterred from entering the United States, some should have made it in — and some of those, it seems reasonable to suggest, would have been picked up by law enforcement by now. The lack of attacks inside the United States combined with the inability of the FBI to find any potential attackers suggests that the terrorists are either not trying very hard or are far less clever and capable than usually depicted.

Best Buy Co. is trying to nudge consumers away from its stores’ DVD aisles by making it easier for them to rent and buy movies over high-speed Internet connections.

The largest U.S. retailer of consumer electronics is setting up its digital delivery service in partnership with CinemaNow, which has deals with the major movie studios.

The software making it possible to shop CinemaNow’s video library will be included on all the Web-connected devices sold in Best Buy’s more than 1,000 U.S. stores. That means consumers who buy flat-panel TVs, Blu-ray players, personal computers and mobile phones from Best Buy would be able to get downloads of videos the same day they are released on DVDs.
