Alisyn in the Greenroom

Saturday Morning

What on Earth (ok, above Earth) were those two Northwest pilots doing for the hour and 18 minutes that flight controllers couldn’t get ahold of them?  One of the pilots is speaking out this morning.  We’ll  show you?

Let’s talk housework.  Does doing housework pay dividends in the bedroom?  And if you agree with this new survey of 7000 married couples, what”s the link between household chores and marital relations???

Why things need to change….

America’s top 1% own more than 90% of America’s wealth

The average worker’s income has declined in three decades while CEO compensation exploded over ten times

The Fed is now the ‘fourth branch of government’ operating autonomously, secretly printing money at will

401(k)s have lost 26.7% of their value in the past decade

Oil and energy costs will skyrocket

Foreign nations and sovereign funds have started dumping dollars, signaling the end of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency

Comment by Salvatore

Good Morning Carolyn,
Chas, flip a coin on Jets or Oakland…thats about it on that game.

Comment by Liz K

Good morning everyone.

Comment by Me

Morning Liz you go girl LOL rock the chalk jayhawks lol

Comment by Merle, NY

Good Morning Everyone :)
I think the pilots fell asleep… why else wouldn’t they respond for such a long time…

Hubby helps with housework except for cooking, using the dishwasher and doing laundry… (he burned the food and my good pans…..used the wrong detergent in the dishwasher and too much detergent in the washing machine) So these chores are off limit for him…. As for his helping pays him more dividends in the bedroom??? Nah,,, he works nights I sleep alone…. he sleeps days and I am busy with my mom and grandsons….

Comment by Liz K

I’m not sure I want to know what the pilots were doing, but I would like to know why the flight attendant didn’t try to contact them sooner.
I’ll let you know about the housework thing after WE clean the junk out of the basement today!

Comment by AJ

Alisyn…what can I say. I’d do your chores any time. ;)

You all have a wonderful day, Go Steelers!!!!

Comment by lori

Sal I was wishig I had your e-mail address lst week. We had 8 extra tickets to the game and neither my family nor my in-laws could make it (plus most of them our browns fans and no sense in wasting tickets on them… yuckie!!!!!..LOL) and I wanted to know if you wanted them…’

If Chas or (Sterling) would be so gracious as to give you my e-mail you can write me in case that ever happens again, I’ll know how to reach ya.

Everyone have a wonderful day. Have to get busy on that basement with Hubby! Who knows where it might lead…..the possibilities seem endless……….fussing over what to throw away……how are we getting this out of here anyway? You expect me to lift that? ….total exhaustion….ahhhh yes, a lovely day of working together….

Comment by Jimmy

Comment by Me

remember the warning lables I gave ya’s

Comment by Salvatore

Lori, Pittsburgh has to stop their running game and force them to pass,
and if troy is 100% we will have a few picks, its up to the defense.

Comment by Colleen

Sal if your right we will be sure to have a few good things to say tomorrow! ;) LOL

Comment by Salvatore

Have a great day Eileen.

Comment by lori

mmm I know sal… that new kid ziggy looked ok… but no aaron. Tomlin says he is still in the “oven” and isn’t quite ready yet! LOl I agree he needs help to stop the run and then that leaves single coverage…. kinda scary.. fingers crossed….

btw the tickets are given to us and we just pass them on if we cant use them..they are 4 and 4 both sets are great seats one set is better though in the private box area.. ;-)

Comment by Salvatore

I hear Colleen…lol

Comment by Salvatore

Lori, we have to stop the run, and force the passing game, and our defense has to come through,
if they play like they did in cincy, its over, Brett will pick us apart,
and thanks for thinking of me about the tickets.

Comment by lori

sal…..we aren’t thinking about the cincy game.. those two games are never to be spoken of again! LOL

take care.. all… here we go Steelers…

Comment by Liz

Well, ME – everything I post is 100% true – just way over your heads. It’s unfortunate that so many people don’t really get it, and that’s why it happened.

Have a wonderful day everyone :)

Sal~~~~I don’t think I get the game here :( So can you please root for me a little ;) Ya know friends & all.

Comment by Liz

Hey Jimmy, you must be a lonely professor – not very many are on right-wing fringe! Is that why you don’t cheer for your team?

Comment by Me

BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

Comment by Liz

As a matter of fact, the right-wing fringe is not welcome in the NFL either – i.e. Limbaugh! LMAO!

I’m surprised anyone here is into football – must be a “evil” liberal game!

Comment by Salvatore

Colleen, the game is on Fox, you should get it, if not I will keep you posted on twitter.

Comment by chas

Hey lori,

Hummmmm, we would be at odds over the Steelers game..lol But I’m not picking winners this year. Just keeping stats and suggesting games for the pool. Thanks for the picks.

I’d be willing to help in the exchange of e-mails for you and Sal. You’d have to write me though because I lost a lot of addresses when I got this new lap top.

Voting closes in 30 minutes, ’cause I have things to do.

chas

Comment by Jimmy

I am an excellent professor, Liz….my students like me because I present all sides in class…and create thinking and discussion…..my personal opinions are only expressed in here. Unlike my liberal colleagues….I don’t force my personal ideas onto my students….I, unlike your teachers……try to get my students to examine the facts they can support…and think for themselves…..that is the mark of an excellent professor! But, I also expect them to learn the lessons history has taught us.
A tactic you might use in your unsubstanciated rantings here!
Hoot! Hoot!

Comment by Jimmy

And…football is a GAME ! a diversion…..not a politcal party, not a religion…..and not just for liberals….most liberals are too busy out demonstrating somewhere to enjoy the game!
Hoot! Hoot!
bbl all….when the air clears….or the lizard sleeps tonight! Hoot! Hoot!

Comment by Me

I’m not gonna get T’s picks in time today bummer

Comment by Liz

NO, you got that backwards Jimmy – Tea parties are attended mostly by right-wing fringers and FOX news!

Comment by chas

Sorry Eileen, I just sent the results in.

chas

Comment by John

Vikings, Bengals , Saints and Jets Ali will stay one

Comment by chas

John,

As I said to Eileen I just sent in the votes. You might have broken the tie between the Vikes and Steelers game.

chas

Comment by chas

OK, my job here is done. Thanks to all for your input.

Have a great day and hope to see you all tomorrow.

Comment by Sterling

Well that really stinks. When I checked the blog this morning, there wasn’t a new one. So when I check in again, and the voting is closed. We usually have until around noon to get our picks in. Bummer.

Comment by Colleen

Thanks Sal. I have been looking, darn cable won’t show any info on the games.

Chas,

Yes Sal, I got your votes. You only get counted once here. We don’t allow ACORN to get involved.

chas
Your a Funny Guy!

Comment by Jimmy

Liz…I don’t teach “spelling”…my secretary does that! Hoot! Hoot!

Comment by chas

Sorry Sterling. I have deadlines to meet.

I try and hold on until the last minute but there are others who have jobs to do that require time, like the graphics. So the votes have to go in on time or they get short sheeted.

chas

Comment by Jimmy

and no one here believes you have ever had a class….or are working on a “paper”….we doubt that you are even a full time student….at least not at a real university Hoot! Hoot!

Comment by Salvatore

Colleen I think its National televised game you should get it on Fox,
Morning Sterling.

Comment by Sterling

Hey Sal. How are you today? It’s chilly, chilly here today. Y

Comment by Jimmy

also…the ability to “spell” correctly is not a measure of your level of intelligence or your IQ….as evidenced by a great many of your posts here…..LOL

Comment by Jimmy

so take a day off from your spewing and liberal agenda….maybe even you could enjoy a few good ball games…..if you can follow what’s going on….LOL

Comment by Jimmy

bbl….time for lunch…..then some football!!! Hoot! Hoot!

Comment by Salvatore

Its all good Sterling, last few days have been nice, but its chilly here today.

Comment by Sterling

Those two pilots need to be suspended or fired. I can’t imagine anything that they were doing, that was okay, that would explain them missing their mark by 150 miles. And if there was, why wouldn’t they immediately say what it was? Very fishy.

The State of Joblessness

The tragedy of Jennifer Granholm’s Michigan.
State lawmakers will soon face large budget deficits again, perhaps as much as $100 billion across the U.S. Here’s some free budget-balancing advice: Steer clear of the Michigan model. The Wolverine state is once again set to run out of money, and it is once again poised to raise taxes even as jobs and businesses disappear.

Comment by carolynro

AS MICHIGAN GOES, SO GOES THE NATION!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by carolynro

Correction: Democrat controlled Michigan House of Representatives passed the tax on docs. Senate is controlled by republicans so we have to wait and see

Comment by Liz

Well, I guess that’s what we get for electing a Canadian-turned-American. Can’t wait to get rid of her. Politics in Canada are quite different. I judge everyone individually (because I’m independent) – and I think Granholm bit off more than she could chew as governor. She’s quite smart, but not a leader. She was a very good attorney general, however. I certainly don’t dislike her at all and I think that as a person she’s super, and she means well. She tried and failed.

See, I don’t dislike anyone – and that’s the difference between most of you and me.

Comment by Liz

Does anyone know if Ann Coulter is really a woman? Just wondering – she’s more hormonal than most women. Is she hiding a secret? I haven’t seen her much because I choose not to watch her spew her lies, filth, and character assassinations, but when she attacked Mike Huckabee, one of the few members of the GOP that I actually like and agree the most with – was just wondering if any of you think she represents GOP women. She seems to think she’s an expert on things she’s had no experience with (children, single mothers, liberals, etc.)

Comment by chas

For someone who often spouts the view of the “inclusive party” there sure seems to be little room for any ideas but their own.

But what do I know compared to someone who judges people by today’s standards that lived over 200 years ago.

chas

Comment by Liz

You didn’t answer my question! Is Ann Coulter someone you admire and agree with? Do you condone the people in the GOP like her who attack others? Do you think it’s a good way to win people over to your point of view?

I agree with Huckabee about taxes, term limits and lots of other things. And he’s a very good person to boot. I think he would be ineffective though because corporations run the GOP and the country -for now. Huckabee and Ron Paul are the only conservatives who have it right and I don’t think they could be bought. What do you think? Or, are you on the side of the h-a-t-e mongers and partisans?

Comment by Liz

Well, chas – if you were in my class I’d have to fail you. My students are required to participate in discussions. It’s how they learn to communicate effectively – something you apparently never learned to do. I will say you are great at posting google eyes though.

Have a wonderful evening! :) (I only post smiley faces)

Hawaii regulators have approved a Honolulu startup company’s plan to build the nation’s first tuna farm in waters off the Big Island.

Hawaii Oceanic Technology aims to create an environmentally friendly open ocean farm for bigeye tuna, a favorite source for sushi and sashimi that’s overfished in the wild. The project would also be the world’s first commercial bigeye farm.

The state Board of Land and Natural Resources voted 4-to-1 to give Hawaii Oceanic permission to install three large underwater cages for the tuna.

Unlike many tuna farms around the world which capture immature tuna and fatten them until they’re ready for harvest, Hawaii Oceanic expects to artificially hatch bigeye at a University of Hawaii lab in Hilo.

Transit system workers in Philadelphia voted to authorize a union strike Sunday, less than a week before the Phillies play their first home game of the World Series, but a transit spokesman said he hopes a deal can be concluded before then.

Willie Brown, president of the Transport Workers Union Local 234, said the 4,700 workers voted overwhelmingly to allow him to call a strike if negotiations with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority fail. Talks are slated to resume Monday.

Brown said he hoped a walkout would not affect the series, but he said workers have been without a contract since March and have not had a raise since December.
