Good morning. It is wonderful to see you this morning. We are having some friends over tomorrow evening……good food, good friends….can’t beat that. The rest of the holiday weekend will be spent just relaxing.

We will especially pray for this wonderful country and all of those brave military people who have in the past and continue to make our freedom possible.

Ali, shame on you for not giving us a heads up that you would be on today. Saturday some neighbors are just going to get together for a cookout and watch a parade in your little town of Whispering Pines (near Pinehurst) NC

Great to see Coach Coughlin in Iraq with the General. It shows that the NFL players and coaches care for the troops and was a POSITIVE story about sports figures.

Very chilly today, in Ohio…of course, I will hug my dad…the old soldier is definitely one of my major hero’s. lol :) :) I will be celebrating the privilege of having him here w/his children and grand children. :) We are a lucky group for sure!! :)

We usually have a slow cooked BBQ of some sort, but with the current heat wave, I don’t think I want to be around a “pit” all day. It may be deli sandwiches this time.

Let’s see…. my husband, 3 step-daughters and myself are all going home from a week of work out on the road. Can’t wait to be out of a little motel room and back in our own space! Plan to spend the 4th cooking out, possible hot air balloon rides-weather permitting and watching fireworks! Then on Sunday…. my 3 daughters return home from their summer break!!! Can hardly wait to have all 6 of our girls at home!!!!!

Most importantly…. we are going to give thanks for the men & women of our military for all that they do wot keep our country safe and FREE!

Exactly…one wonders if himself can remember what all is being presented. I doubt it!!! He’s not informed at all, would seem, and just in chg of shouting fr the rooftops, every day, about his wonderous election, and all the GOOD things the population can expect. Whoa! I was getting my hair cut yesterday and we were talking about how none of the people who are ruining the country have ever worked like my stylist or my husband or millions of other small business service sector people, have never experienced the stress of wondering who or if anyone will walk through the door or ring our phones or if we will make enough money each month to pay for the rock bottom necessities, let alone health insurance or for a new roof when the old one wears out. And don’t forget about those of us who work for small businesses who are constantly under the treat of being laid off or having hours cut. I wish my liberal democrat senators and representatives would tag along with my husband for a day and then come to my office ands see how much paper work it takes just to run a small company and then look at the sales figures before they vote for one more thing!!!!

By the time we get finished paying for all the ‘Pass Through Taxes” that will be added to the cost of just about everything, we will be lucky to have any net to pay income tax on. Oh, that’s right. We will no longer be able to deduct any of those costs. We will have to buy less in order to have enough to pay income tax.

By the way, when I lived in Ohio, I found out that a “Buckeye” was a worthless nut.

Well, I don’t know about the rest of the country but there is not alot of money left here to pay for anything else. Michigan has another $920 million budget deficit for 2009 after cutting $1 billion. Hellooooo nothing is coming in on the revenue side because people are laid off or are not spending. I normally work, but this year I am taking a vacation day! I am going to the Big Butler Fair in Butler PA with my family! There is a Big Rig truck show, drag racing and truck pulls, lots of good greasy fair food, animals, rides and,of course, FIREWORKS!! It’s gonna be a great !!!! Friday nite it’s a crew of my cousins for picnicing purposes, then to Modern Woodman Ballpark on the mighty Mississippi for their fireworks show. Saturday it’s the party in Bettendorf, IA (that has been going for MANY YEARS) with the husband’s family in from out of town to party with family and friends all day and watch the fireworks at dusk. Then we’ll likely dash to the ballpark for the fireworks they have after the game again! Wish you and your friends could be among our friends! Have a happy one, and God Bless America, on her birthday and everyday. Bless our troops, too, of course. And last, but certainly not least, NEVER FORGET 9/11.

We will be BBQing at our house, then moving to the neighbors pool to cool off, and when the sun goes down, another neighbor will set up his fireworks, and the show will begin as we all gather around the community pond. After the fireworks are done, a bon fire will be lit, and marshmallows will be toasted. Just like when we were kids. Sometimes the simple life means more than anything you can buy. Sheriff’s deputies searched Friday for a serial killer blamed for four deaths over the past six days as terrified residents wondered who might be next.

Investigators have not figured out how the victims are linked or if they knew the man who shot them. So far, all they have is a sketch of a suspect and a possible getaway vehicle, said Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton.

I think Sarah Palin is making a brilliant move. First, she defeats all the bogus ethics complaints. Then she shoves it. Since she IS ethical, she puts the state first and takes herself out of the picture so they can’t file any more harrassing complaints against her that waste everybody’s time and money. Several PC makers were including controversial Internet-filtering software with computers shipped in China on Thursday despite a government decision to postpone its plan to make such a step mandatory.

Beijing’s decision this week to delay the requirement that the filtering software — known as Green Dam — be pre-installed or supplied on disk with all computers sold in China averted a possible trade clash with the United States and Europe. But the move by some makers to include the software anyway could re-ignite complaints by Chinese Web users.

Also Thursday, a government newspaper said regulators will revive the plan to make Green Dam mandatory at some point, a move that would disappoint opponents who hoped the government would drop the effort.

and that’s why we need liberals! (I am not a liberal, but you all think I am, so be it) I’m INDEPENDENT and I know we need both conservatives and liberals.

As for Sarah, she is not strong enough to survive the political waters. She has not been attacked half as bad as our president, but I think she knows she couldn’t take it if she was in his shoes, so she’s getting out while she can. I’m just surprised she didn’t serve out her term as Governor. I guess we can read all about it in her book.

Three women donned scuba masks and jumped into the waters off Oahu’s North Shore, floating inside a submerged cage as about a dozen sharks glided toward bloody fish scraps tossed into the water by a tour company.

Tourist Kim Duniec said the experience of coming eye-to-eye with sharks was exhilarating. “Their eyes were scary, but they were still graceful, absolutely beautiful,” the Beaver Dam, Wis., woman said.

Shark tours like this have become a popular visitor attraction in Hawaii, but a movement is gaining momentum to shut them down.

I just watched the segment on the swim club incident in Philadelphia. I have been a lifeguard for 30 years and it sounds like the swim club was not prepared to have this program at the club. They only had 4 lifeguards on staff when the children arrived which is definitely a safety issue. It sounds like because of the “last minute” arrangements of this program led to not being able to staff the pool properly. They would need at least another 6 more lifeguards to staff the pool program with the extra 65 children at the pool. The club probably realized it was a safety issue and was not able to accomodate this program. Ms. Wright said that they had 8 staff members there with the children, but that is irrelevant. Number one, how many of the 8 staff memebers were lifeguard, first-aid and CPR certified ? Number two they are not on the payroll at the facility which is a liability issue.

When a pool manager is given the schedule for the summer at a pool, they hire enough lifeguards to staff it properly with the programs on the schedule. Adding a program with 65 children is very difficult to do at the last minute because of staffing issues which then become serious safety issues. Maybe the staff members who work at the camp should become lifeguard, first-aid and CPR certified to prevent situations like this in the future.

The swim club should have thought about the magnitude of 65 children in the pool with only 4 lifeguards on staff for the day before they said “yes”.
