Maher is just looking for attention and a way to seem relevant again. What more exactly would he like to see Obarfbag do? my daughter fainted after giving blood at college she hit her head/mouth lost a few front teeth and had to spend a day in the hospital! Not a fond memory

On flag day I would ask Dave and Clayton which color describes them best? White or Red? Because this is the meaining of the colors of our flag. White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice.

Who is more pure and innocent, and who is hardy and has valour?

Leave those guys alone. It is their decision to give blood or not. No one should ever be shamed or forced into giving blood. It is not a character flaw to get queasy at the sight of blood. Giving blood is voluntary. Those who don’t volunteer, DON’T GIVE!!!

Alisyn, The American people need the help of you and Fox news. Many Americans, even those that made the mistake of voting for Obama are disgusted with his performance so far. Many relalize that his promises are not possible and the ones he is forging on to do are way to expensive and make no sense at all.
The problem is that only the minority is being heard. As always they carry the loudest voice. We need Fox to organize the majority of those that feel Obama needs to change his policy of Goverment running everything and either step down or take a more middle of the road approach to running this country.
On July 4th this once proud strong and great nation will celebrate its independance. This year that Celebration will be watered down with this new Presidents inadiquicys.
Maybe Fox can organize a re-independance day on July 5th across the country. Demanding changes from the Presidents polocies. Maybe a prtotest on gas or no retail shopping, something that gets our message across.

Just wanted to shed a little more light on your blood donor story — people should donate regularly, not just on special designated days. Let’s get that message out there! The need for blood is ongoing. Also, Dave and Clayton are reinforcing the myths and fears that people have – that’s why only 10% of people donate! Please don’t focus on their fears – highlight how one donaton can actually help save 3 lives.

Independence Day cannot be watered down. Its about history.

Sadly.. my older brother passed away this week..But God has a way of making things even !! He blessed my niece with twins yesterday !! (Temporarily named “Pink” and “Blue” !! I’m sure that will change today !!)

I guess that makes me a “Great” Uncle !!

So…sadness has turned into happiness in a mere blink of an eye !!

As I looked down the line, in both directions, men were dropping like flies. But that did not disqualify them from service. Don’t be afraid to give blood. It will most likely save someone’s life.

Welcome back Tommy. I am sorry for your loss and happy for the blessed event.

I recently became a first time Grandfather myself.

Nobody wants to give blood until someone that love needs it, then they holler. Happens all the time. We have regularly scheduled blood drives at our church and only one person has fainted-afterward because he decided not to eat the “fattening cookies”. We’ve given hundreds (if not thousands) of pints in the last few years. Last December a parishioner’s friend’s daughter had a traumatic birth and she and the baby would have died had we not stored the type blood that they needed. The mother and baby survived and now thrive because of the 30 minute gift of blood and the family is eternally grateful.

I don’t like needles and sometimes my blood pressure rises and makes me a little anxious, but I weigh the risks (low) and the benefits (life-giving for others) so I just relax and look forward to the yummy cookies and juice at the end.

I don’t really think they will release the pictures because they are so dangerous, and would do no good at all, for either party or their agenda. I do think Nancy P prob knows that, so she can please her base, all the while being secure that indeed, the pictures will not be released. This has been used all along by both sides, prob, to make a statement, realizing all along nothing was really going to happen.
Awwww…I appreciate the fear of needles boys, but as has been said, of course, each prob will give blood. We do wonder which one will do so this morning on t.v. ~~smiling~~ You usually get a cookie after wards guys, if that entices one to volunteer b/4 the other? And we do LOVE cookies, for sure.

I can’t believe I actually agree with Bill Mahe on something. Everyday President Obama is on TV around noon…unusally introducuing another Czar……and then we get a does of AH ah ah Press Guy ah Gibbs ah….ah…oh and Dear Bill I could really us less of you on TV ..Whising you had Obama’s time too? I was told that the networks were getting sick of Obama’s tv time because they lose money on commerical tiime and what have you…not an expert on how that works… Really I could use less of Bill Mahre but he not on every network like Obama….

Guess you recovered from the wedding….. I’m glad I only had 2 daughters…. Weddings are DONE…..One is still married and one divorced…Glad to hear your dad is with it. My mom sleeps all the time. I wake her to feed, give medicine and change diaper. She is barely able to move. Thank God for hospice. They have been wonderful by giving me a healthcare girl 5 days a week ,2 hrs each day to wash her. A nurse comes once a week. Social worker comes every other week to see how I am doing.

All of you should give blood. I’m only 26 and I have given 5 gallons. Stop the wussing around.

The wedding was beautiful, and I did survive it all. The kids did a great job with it all…a lot of fun, very relaxed reception, complete w/karioke…lots of laughing and celebration. Have any of you tried to email a Congressman/woman and been told they won’t accept your email because you don’t live in their district? I can understand them not responding to those outside their district, but they should have to listen to all of us. Their decisions affect the entire nation, not just their little corner of it. I realize some do accept emails from anywhere, but they all should do that. I know this was off topic, but I am totally fed up with the spending of my tax money for the destruction of the free market system.

I am not sure that he should be fired. I prob don’t care actually, whether they fire him or not. They all could pause to apologize however. And I mean, apologize sincerely, for the very poor judgment used. So far, that hasn’t happened, has it. Palin is right. There is something very wrong with a 62 year-old man leering about an 14 or 18 year old girl’s sexuality that he so charmingly referenced as “knocked up”. This is off topic, but I have been spending so much time back and forth to hospital to see my son, that I am way behind. I just wanted to say that if the “Washington club” are so concerned with global warming and energy conservation that they want to tax farmers for methane emissions (read f__t tax) I guess we can not go back to horse and buggy days because they might emit methane, and we cannot drive cars because of emissions and energy use, we will all have to drive pedal cars, and if for some reason our legs are not capable of pedaling the car we will have to pedal with our arms. I can’t wait to see Ospendeveryoneelsesmoney and his lady riding around Washington in a pedal car. Also with the amount of “hot air” in Washington, I guess the use of furnaces, etc. to heat buildings (including the White house) is totally unnecessary.

As for the one who was being so nasty on yesterday’s blog, she is only showing her own ignorance. If she has a degree from any college, I wonder how she got hers. Her comments about Sarah Palin and her family are totally rude, inconsiderate, and uncalled for. It is way past time to quit bashing Bush, McCain, and other leading Republicans and Conservatives and blaming them for all the ills of the country. The congress was controlled by the Dems and if they could not control what was happening they are just as much if not more to blame than anyone.

Gini, it was probably some teenager sitting in his mother’s basement. Personally, I couldn’t care less about political differences and arguements in this case. Imposters are cowards and should NEVER be tolerated no matter what. I had something like that suggested, an application to be a member, but seeing as it is a News Network they would never do that because every liberal would claim they were being denied free speech here, even if they didn’t try and post.

And unless I mis-read the security and use parts of wordpress you can’t actually ban anyone from any site unless you make it a private site or make all comments moderated. And that would require a full time person to handle the load.

Gini, I do not require a salary, but maybe a helicopter. I know a really really good helicopter pilot. He will get us all to where ever we need to be, and fast. Nearly 800,000 calls were received by a federal hot line this week from people confused about the nationwide move on Friday to drop analog TV signals and broadcast only in digital.

The Federal Communications Commission said that about 317,450 calls went into the help line, 1-888-CALL-FCC, on Friday alone, the day analog signals were cut off. Another 102,000 came in Saturday by 6 p.m. Eastern time.

The total is still below the 600,000 to 3 million callers that the FCC expected in early March would call on transition day.

NASA is repairing a leaky hydrogen gas line on Endeavour’s fuel tank in hopes of launching the shuttle on its space station construction mission Wednesday, four days after the first try was called off.

But another NASA mission, involving a pair of science spacecraft bound for the moon, is scheduled to blast off Wednesday. Top space agency officials will decide Monday whether to bump the moon mission to make way for Endeavour.

Mission management team chairman LeRoy Cain said it’s likely Endeavour will go first — if the repair effort goes well, no other shuttle problems crop up and the weather cooperates.

Gini, I did send CBS the first email. In part I told them I did not watch Letterman now or when he was on NBC. I also told them that I was going to notify his sponsors and tell them I would not support their companies as long as they advertised on David Letterman.

Sharynn…as the idea of the contract worker is what corp America has been moving towards for a long time now, actually, one wonders what’s up with all of it, for sure. Many states are “right to work” states where unions can come in and force unionization upon employees and employers. That may be one reason so many companies and colleges use contract workers to avoid being over-taken by unions. I am not sure but I know there is an effort to make Michigan a right to work state that has been going on for awhile. It would drive prices even higher than they are now as many employee union contracts in our state have been patterned after the UAW which as we all now know has driven up the prices on many services.

Gini, I am a retired licensed social worker and child abuse investigator.
I have investigated many many child rape cases and many abuse allegations, shaken babies with their brains scrambled and also investigated with law enforcement abuse by family members that led to death. I will not watch Law and Order Special Victims Unit or what ever it is call. I have spent my years of waking up with cold sweats and had my share of night mares about the children that was on my case load.
I don’t like kid jokes either. But when a comedian makes them, all you can do is make them hit home. No pain no gain.

In regards to Nancy Pelosi trying to get the pictures released to the public, I have a theory… It appears that this is just another attempt by the “higher-ups” in this administration to tear down all aspects of the Bush admin. and make everything that happened during his years in office look bad to the public eye. Yesterday I sent an email to CBS, I wll keep playing with it and try to get the Late show.

I find that most sites or companies that don’t really want to hear from you have their “contact us” or “comments” link at the bottom in small print like the disclaimer on the bottom of a commercial. I guess they figure if its not easy to find, most people either give up or get distracted by something else on the site. Too bad for them that I’m pretty persistent.

Concerning a solution designed to minimize imposters, wordpress has a little icon thingie in which a user can make personal. i.e. personal pic or unique symbol. If that option would be available in public forums as well it would make it a tad more difficult to imitate others. Just a thought.

Liz, I agree with you, in my mind it is highly unlikely it was simply a “passerby” that has posted in my name dozens of times over the last few months. It just doesn’t make common sense that someone that doesn’t have an emotional connection would be so interested in me, (and in recent incidents you,) that they would take the time and or thought to be so rude. It seems to me it is much more likely it is someone whom is indimadated by our thoughts and discussion and would like to see us leave this site. But because of the nature of blogging we will never know for sure and I won’t or don’t accuse any person, it’s just not that important. It was nice to know a few of the regulars don’t support the distasteful behavour and offered support. That says a lot about an individuals’ character. Having said that, I take all of this with a grain of salt and realize it is an unfortunate part of modern day society and a risk we take if we participate in a public forum. Blogging isn’t brain surgery, and it barely qualifies as “real life” so I don’t concern myself with the occurances.

Ok Cecil, found another one. At CBS.com you can choose the show at the upper left corner. I chose the late show. On the late show page there is a link for “show info”. In the drop down under show info there is a link for contact the late show. It gives an email address that I guess gets you to a late show department. If you already found this one, then I’m out of suggestions. These are the only ones I found. Good luck and if you find something new, please let me know!

I agree Lori. I can pretty much guess who it might be. There are a couple of regular posters that really want our opinions taken elsewhere. Well I say TOO BAD. I’m just trying to dispell some untrue “truths” that are posted here daily by people who don’t bother to do proper research and don’t know WTH they are talking about.

Back to the health and retirement thing. Employers learned that giving health benefits was a fairly inexpensive perk to give to employees back about 30 years ago. A family of 4 could have a wonderful package that cost the employer about $100.00 or less a month and there were tax advantages with that, too. So, of course when more people had coverage they started going to the doc more. Makes sense. Well, as time went by, the costs of health insurance started to rise as more people were living longer and having more expensive health needs. Before anyone knew it, people were over using the health system because for many employees it is free. Now a family of four can still get wonderful insurance- say Blue Cross- but that policy will cost at least $1500.00 a month for an employer to provide it. The only retirement system I am familiar with is that of teachers. They are collecting longer and Michigan keeps increasing the amount the local districts have to contribute compared to the old days when the state paid nearly 100% under an old funding scheme.

Is he going to take from those who have “rich” policies for free and make those who have the best insurance through their work and give it to people like me who pay for their own for crap policies?!

Don’t get me wrong. We definitely need health care reform, and much of the actual health care reform being discussed is good. I just do not believe the federal government should require everyone to have insurance, nor do I think the government should decide which small businesses are able to provide care and which will not be required to do so. Now, before someone jumps on that; it is what the president just said he believed should happen. The so called public option involves too many government bean counters deciding which procedures are best.

Hi Betty and Carolyn…nicely said Carolyn, and that is an accurate acct of it all, as I have watched the progression of health insurance in the work place. My great fear, or one, as stated earlier, is being at the bottom of the food chain, because my yrs would dictate that I am not of worth, being over 30 and seasoned, ya know? Of course, there are those citizens who cannot extrapolate that out, due to lack of info or historical events, but it scares the bejeebees out of me!!! YIKES! lol
Meanwhile, I am overwhelmed with my new appt as Cookie Czar, and have a whole new appreciation for the task at hand! lol whew! lol One cannot have too many staffers, I must think!!!
