NASA is repairing a leaky hydrogen gas line on Endeavour’s fuel tank in hopes of possibly launching the space shuttle on Wednesday.
The leak forced mission managers to call off a launch attempt Saturday.
The repair work began Sunday and should be completed in time for Endeavour to lift off Wednesday on the space station construction mission. But that’s the same day a pair of science spacecraft are scheduled to blast off for the moon.
You had lots of gifts for dads, but none for grandfathers. Since my daughter’s father decided he wanted no more contact with her, she has celebrated fathers day by honoring the only male figure in her life, her grandfather. She commented this morning, that there were no gifts for grandfathers mentioned. How about including a few for those who celebrate Father’s Day in a less traditional way? I did enjoy seeing Dave in the “new dad’s toolbelt.” You never know what you might see on the Fox morning show! I love it!
Showers and unseasonable cold winds didn’t stop thousands of “American Idol” hopefuls from turning out Sunday for the show’s Season Nine kickoff auditions at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Some showed up around 3 a.m. Sunday to grab their place in a line that eventually grew the length of the stadium and into the parking lot.
Contestants wore high heels, cowboy hats, and sported umbrellas declaring that they were the next big thing. But to move on in the competition, hopefuls had to convince the first round screeners that they were worthy of a call back.
The kickoff auditions attracted around 7,000 contestants from all over the East Coast, including New England, New York and as far south as North Carolina.
Rebeccah Beushausen wove a tale for two months about being an unmarried mother who chose to carry her child who is now terminally ill to term rather than have an abortion because of her deep Christian faith.
She posted her story on a blog that got nearly a million hits until one of her followers exposed the lie last week. Now the suburban Chicago woman is apologizing for the hoax.
Beushausen posted a lengthy apology on her blog Sunday, saying she had lost pregnancies in the past.
More than 50 years ago, a mother left her stroller outside a Long Island bakery and returned minutes later to find her 2-year-son had vanished.
Police and residents searched ditches and homes for the blond toddler. Investigators chased down leads around the country. But the sensational case soon went cold. No one knew what happened to little Stephen Damman.
Now a Michigan man has come forward to say he is the boy, and federal officials are awaiting DNA test results to determine if he’s right.
The revelation stunned Long Island residents old enough to remember the futile search, and it renewed hope among Damman’s relatives, including Stephen’s 78-year-old father.
New images suggest Mars had a sizable lake on its surface billions of years ago, further evidence that the planet had a watery past.
Images snapped by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter reveal a 30-mile-long canyon where researchers believe water once flowed and apparent beach remnants surrounding a basin.
Like the house across the street gone missing and the one at the corner stripped of its front door, the weathered brown bungalow at 1430 Jane Ave. bided its time, edging nearer to a meeting with a wrecking crew.
But in a city with more than 1,000 abandoned homes slated for demolition, it would have to wait its turn. Until, at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 8, the little house jumped the line.
When firefighters arrived seven minutes later, the front of 1430 Jane was already swollen with flames — the latest in a long, sad string of fires destroying scores of homes this half-empty city no longer has any use for.
Does anyone know remember the name of the book from Friday’s show about Father’s wisdom? I went to Barnes and Noble and googled it but couldn’t find anything… I thought it was “father knows best” by Kara Williams but that is wrong…. Please help!
With more subscribers than ever flocking to its DVD-by-mail service, Netflix Inc. is one of the few companies to prosper during the worst U.S. recession in 70 years. Yet Netflix CEO Reed Hastings still has something to worry about: an even cheaper DVD rental service run by one of his former lieutenants.
Once just an incongruous experiment amid the burgers and fries at McDonald’s restaurants, Redbox has emerged as the largest operator of DVD-rental kiosks, with more than 15,400 vending machines set up to dispense $1-per-day discs in supermarkets and discount stores.
The District of Columbia Fire Department has raised the death toll to nine in Monday’s collision of two Metrorail trains.
A release on the department’s Web site says rescue workers located three more bodies in the wreckage late Monday night. All three were declared dead at the scene.
One Metro transit train smashed into the rear of another at the height of the Monday evening rush hour. The trailing train jackknifed violently into the air and fell atop the first.
I was really shocked when a “Fox and Friends” commentator criticised the ABC news program that featured the President in a town hall meeting regarding health care questions the public may have about his plan and then stated to his guest “You watched it so I didn’t have to”. It’s one thing to criticise, which everyone has the right to do, but you can’t criticise a news program when you are so biased that you won’t even watch it.

Search crews in the mid-Atlantic have retrieved the bodies of the chief pilot of Flight 447 and a flight attendant, Air France said Thursday.
The two are among 50 bodies pulled out of the ocean in the international search for remains of the 228 victims and wreckage of the May 31 crash.
Air France, in a statement on its Web site, said the pilot and male flight attendant have been identified but did not release their names. A pilots’ union named the flight captain as Frenchman Marc Dubois.
Earlier this week the international police agency Interpol said 11 of the 50 bodies retrieved had been identified: eight Brazilians, one with joint Brazilian-German citizenship, one Brazilian-Swiss and a Briton.
LaGuardia Airport is the smallest of the three major airports in the New York area, with just two main runways. Planes often sit in long lines on the tarmac, waiting their turn to take off.
So why would Southwest Airlines, a carrier that boasts about its on-time prowess, want to go there? In many ways, because it has to.
Southwest prospered by offering low fares to leisure travelers whose only other affordable option was a car trip. It flew primarily to America’s secondary airports where costs are low and productivity is high because incoming planes can land, drop off passengers, take on the next group and get back in the air quickly.

I found it. The book is called The Takeaway by Pat Williams
