I am looking forward to seeing you this morning. I think Capt. Phillips and the Navy SEALS deserve the credit for success. However, I do think Obama did the right thing by giving the okay; otherwise, this event had the potential of reminiscing Jimmy Carter’s handling of the US Hostages in Iran, which I am sure crossed Obama’s mind.

I believe Captain Phillips deserves the most credit for the happy ending to the pirate saga. He exhibited extreme personal courage in going with the pirates and getting them into a position (off the ship) where it would be easier for the Navy to deal with them. All, however, deserve credit for this one. Captain Phillips trusted in his government and that government didn’t let him down.

I think the Seals deserve most of the Credit. It was the only choice the President really had but as far as I am concerned it shouldn’t have been necessary for him to make the choice. The Navy’s job is to protect the open seas for us and our allies. It’s the first thing a new guy learns in the Navy.

Brown is just nuts. PC gone wild. It’s no wonder race never gets the proper attention because idiots like these still want to relive the past.

Changing the names of holidays because people think it is offensive to others is pretty silly. I am a Native American woman who is not offended by the mention of Columbus Day, and for others to decide on their own that it may be offensive to me is ignorant.

Hooray for the Navy Seals! I am glad the government got out of the way and let them do their job so this story could have the happy ending it did. The Captain was also a hero saving his crew!

The handshake with Chavez disgusted me, particularly when at about the same time it was happening, the White House was trying to pretend the President was “unaware” of the thousands and thousands of us who WERE PAYING for the trip who are outraged at the wasteful spending and overreaching of government and were protesting at the tea parties. The Seals show government at its finest, the handshake and the nonbow bow show government at its worst, and the tea parties show We the People intend to stand up as our founders intended and organize to protest and vote to stop it!

Oh great, there is going to be an RV segment? I would love to see that. We are thinking of getting one to use as both a mobile office for our business and to travel in as we work toward retirement. We will sell our main business location then because of the economy and use this as a double duty office-we wanted to expand our present business location and build a little strip center on it, but are afraid to expand in this economy.

Good Morning from Flyover. Captain Phillips deserves hero status for placing himself in danger to save his crew. The SEALS always deserve credit because they put themselves in danger on every mission. Even Obummer deserves some credit on this one because he could have looked like Janet Reno if things , pardon the expression, went South.

I had it happened last saturday, when on work travel, from my work computer, and then again this morning, from my home computer.

We definitely should not be protesting higher taxes, because that simply is not true. Didn’t you hear the idiot “reporter” from CNN that we should be happy with our $400.00? Does she not realize where it came from and who will have to pay it back? It’s the spending stupid!!!

I agree with Dennis Miller when he said he did not mind chipping in to help the helpless. He did mind being forced to chip in th help the clueless.

Gagafalo is a prime example of what is wrong with the secular progressive segment of our society. She makes a liberal look like a sunday school teacher. She has gone from hating George Bush to hating anything American.

Regarding Setexting. A misdemeanor with COMMUNITY SERVICE. Alot of parents likely think its kids being kids…so what…we all did stupid things! Too many parents are more concerned with the popularity of their child then the interaction and discipline of right and wrong. I see 7th and 8th graders hoping in and out of cars with their HS boyfriends and parents i think its great. I briefly saw the homecoming reunion between the capt and his family. I always feel a bit creepy peeking in on what seems to me to be such a private intimate moments for the family. I put myself in that situation and I would be mortified if the world looked in on me in that situation. Needless to say we were all thrilled this situation turned out so positively. All winners….. all to be apllauded.

The Brown University/ Columbus controversy seems to me to be something that can be addressed in the class room. I think they (native American’s) would be better to put their energies and monies towards improving education of early native American history (at all age levels) instead of focusing on a sir name of an individual whom landed on our shores. Most of “holidays” are based on stories that aren’t necessarily a true reflection of history. Let the name be and improve education.

I was not offended by the Burger King ad but if it didn’t sell many kids meals pull it! I think all of us talking about the ad will gain more attention then any ad they could possibly run.

Re your segment on “sexting” – clearly there needs to be something in place to replace the lack of parental oversight many teens are taking advantage of, but the solution is certainly does not rest with charging these teens and even pre-teens with sex-crimes.

When you allow cameras in the hands of hormonal children, you will produce childish results — but these are not sex offenders. Shame on the prosecutors for having no common sense.

I do NOT think the President deserves credit for this rescue. I think he only commented and claimed involvement when it was successful. Had it gone the other way, they wanted room to shift the blame. I think this is a cynical bunch who does nothing that isn’t politically motivated and I think they despise the military.

I was in NYC last weekend and had tickets for Gov Mike Huckabee’s show–what a great experience. Saw the inside workings of the studio–and Gov Huckabee came out into the Plaza after the show and personally chatted with everyone, posed for pictures to be taken. His guest was Kathy Ireland and we were able to chat with her, too. Great experience (save the drive from the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott to Fox Studios! LOL)

Chocolate Cobbler:
1 stick of butter melted
1 cup self rising flour
1 cup of sugar
2/3 cup of milk
Pour into a baking dish (9 X 13) mix 1 cup of sugar and top 4 tablespoons of cocoa in a small bowl. Sprinkle this mixture on top of first layer. next pour 2 cups of water on top of cocoa and sugar. Bake at 350 for 50 mins. Eat by itself or top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream…

Ohhhh please …. Why give credit to Obama for any part of thr hostage rescue…..It’s his job to give the order and FINALLY he did something right…..but then went right back to his old failing, selling out America ways in Mexico and with Chavez.

The actions taken by the Navy and the orders given by President Obama were EXACTLY what we should have and did do. Pirates are terrorists and the US does NOT negotiate.
My brother has been an US Marine for 20 years and served in Iraq. One American life is no different than 100 American lives. As a US citizen it is our responsibility to take an event such as Captian Phillips and handle it EXACTLY as was done by the SEALS and the US President. I am proud to say I crossed party lines and voted for President Obama. No regrets here and if anyone still thinks he doesn’t know how to handle a threat… think again. I’m proud of our Navy, our SEALS and of our President. Hopefully the rest of the world will stop “giving in,” and start following our lead in ending these types of situations.

I think that a lot of people should be given credit for the captain’s rescue from the crew, the captain, the navy seals and the president. More action like this needs to be taken to stop these pirates. I feel that this is getting totally out of control and it seems like so many countries are just willing to pay the ransom and hope that it just goes away.

I don’t agree with Garofalo’s comments (for the most part) but you guys criticizing Olbermann for not stopping or questioning her is a bit hypocritical. Pretty much daily Fox brings out super conservative guests to comment on stories (Ann Coulter, Cal Thomas to name a few) and never are they stopped or questioned or criticized for their comments. At least Olbermann isn’t claiming to be fair and balanced.

I have seen this garofalo interview several times–and it just floors me every time. where in the world is she coming from???

President Obama speaks about the economy at Georgetown University’s Gaston Hall in Washington. The school covered up religious symbols bearing the name of Jesus during Obama’s remarks at the behest of the White House. Shame on Georgetown for allowing anyone to come into own their house and dictate that they suppress symbols of their own faith. This is frightening reminicense of communism.

The authority was already SOP and the Incident Commander at the scene had all the authority he needed under our rules of engagement. Also, I understand he shouldn’t have come out to give operational details on the rescue effort, but he completely dismissed the question at the press conference saying “we’re talking about housing now” not even wishing the Captain well, ask for our prayers. He COULD and SHOULD have said something like we are doing everything in our power..he said NOTHING..

also, here is a good article on how the deal went down from one of the most reputable military blogs on the Internet.

the commander on scene already had the authority to deal with an imminent death situation in his standing rules of engagement. It means that when this situation was escalated to national command authority i.e. Obama those rules were suspended and Obama implemented new ones specific to this incident. Then he had to restore the authority the captain already had to use deadly force to save a hostage from execution. There is considerable talk that the initial new ROE that Obama instituted did not allow a rescue so as to allow the negotiations to proceed, and then a second set of ROE was instituted after the Navy could not respond to Captain Phillip’s escape attempt. That is unconfirmed but fits the facts as they happened.

If a child is too young to legally consent to a sexual act, then who, in their right mind, would deem that they should be legally accountable for the act? Yet that is exactly what is happening, time, and time, and time again: not just in Vermont, but in several states.

It is abject madness to prosecute kids for doing the very things that the law has deemed they are too young to consent to and be accountable for. How can you, on one hand, say that children are too young to consent to an act; then, on the other hand, hold them legally accountable for an act? MADNESS!!!

The spirit that drives such prosecutions is the same spirit that drove witch hunters and mobs. It is heartless, illogical, and vicious.

Vermont’s proposed law (legalizing sexting) protects children from being exploited by careerist prosecutors who lack any semblance of prosecutorial discretion and seem wont to “notch” their “hard on crime” gun at the expense of the very children the laws were designed to protect.

Kudos to Vermont for reigning in these idiot prosecutors and judges ; I would that more states would follow suit.

A poll showing that the majority of Americans think they should pay less in taxes? Shocking. Of course we don’t like being taxed, but we don’t want to pay separately for services that the government provides either. I’m all for consumption tax–as long as it’s ridiculous, non-essential luxury items that are taxed the most.

I have a 2 year old that watches the show alot and I sat and watched a few episodes with her and was suprised at some of the subtle sexual type references. Even though the Burger King ad is geared towards adults, kids will still be exposed to it while watching TV, especially if they like Spongebob. It’s not something I would want my kids seeing since it has sexual innuendo. We do need to be careful with what our kids watch. What goes in, will come out. If advertisements are going to target adults, they shouldn’t use children’s characters, symbols, etc that would catch the eyes of the children.

The President did not contribute anything extraordinary to the mission. The actions of the Navy SEALS in any other case would have been a standing order related to any wartime situation. I was really offended by the Burger King/Sponge Bob ad. I am a mother of two teenagers and, I think there are enough ads out there using sex to sale! This ad is for kids meals, and as parents we don’t need to be targeted by sexuality, we have nagging kids that are not afraid to tell us what they want. If I am not mistaken at the end of the ad Sir-mix-a lot is on saying “booty is booty” and that really upset me! If that isn’t what he said please let me know. A child may not be able to understand what he means by that but my teenagers are!

I have three children, and two still watch Spongebob. I laughed out loud, he is Spongebob SQUARE Pants after all. Plus I loved the music, great job on the dancing this am. A father of some teenage children had the family rule that they could not attend PG-13 or R rated movies. His three teens wanted to see a particular popular movie that was playing at local theaters. It was rated PG-13.

The teens made a list of pros and cons about the movie to use to convince their dad that they should be allowed to see it. The con’s were that it contained ONLY 3 swear words, the ONLY violence was a building exploding (and you see that on TV all the time they said), and you actually did not “see” the couple in the movie having sex – it was just implied sex, off camera. The pros were that it was a popular movie – a block buster. Everyone was seeing it. If the teens saw the movie then they would not feel left out when their friends discussed it. The movie contained a good story and plot. It had some great adventure and suspense in it. There were some fantastic special effects in this movie. The movie’s stars were some of the most talented actors in Hollywood. It probably would be nominated for several awards.
Many of the members of their Christian church had even seen the movie and said it wasn’t “very bad”. Therefore, since there were more pros than cons the teens said they were asking their father to reconsider his position on just this ONE movie and let them have permission to go see it.
The father looked at the list and thought for a few minutes. He said he could tell his children had spent some time and thought on this request. He asked if he could have a day to think about it before making his decision. The teens were thrilled thinking; “Now we’ve got him! Our argument is too good! Dad can’t turn us down!” So, they happily agreed to let him have a day to think about their request.
The next evening the father called in his three teenagers, who were smiling smugly, into the living room. There on the coffee table he had a plate of brownies. The teens were puzzled. The father told his children he had thought about their request and had decided that if they would eat a brownie then he would let them go to the movie. But just like the movie, the brownies had pros and cons.
The pros were that they were made with the finest chocolate and other good ingredients. They had the added special effect of yummy walnuts in them. The brownies were moist and fresh with wonderful chocolate frosting on top. He had made these fantastic brownies using an award-winning recipe. And best of all, the brownies had been made lovingly by the hand of their own father.
The brownies only had one con. The father had included a little bit of a special ingredient. The brownies also contained just a little bit of dog poop. But he had mixed the dough well – they probably would not even be able to taste the dog poop and he had baked it at 350 degrees so any bacteria or germs from the dog poop had probably been destroyed.
Therefore, if any of his children could stand to eat the brownies which included just a “little bit of crap” and not be effected by it, then he knew they would also be able to see the movie with “just a little bit of smut” and not be effected.
Of course, none of the teens would eat the brownies and the smug smiles had left their faces. Only Dad was smiling smugly as they left the room.
Now when his teenagers ask permission to do something he is opposed to the father just asks, “Would you like me to whip up a batch of my special brownies?”

I’m a long-time fan of Fox’s early morning shows, both during the week and on weekends. However, I was surprised and thoroughly disappointed about your coverage of the Burger King commercial. Allyson and crew seemed to support it and even said how much they liked it. This is shocking, coming from a network that purports to uphold family values. The ad is trash. It is sexually suggestive and is the kind of message we don’t need to be showing our kids. Don’t tell me it was “aimed at adults” either. Kids watch TV at all hours. Shame on you, Fox, for supporting it.

The school covered up religious symbols bearing the name of Jesus during Obama’s remarks at the behest of the White House. My BW taught me a lesson the first year we were married. With friends coming over to visit one evening, without my knowledge, the BW painted the following message on the underside of the toilet seat, in fingernail polish. “It’s So Nice To Have A Man Around The House”!!! After much giggling and hee-haws, I was finally let in on the joke.

Susan…I know you are gone now, but one prefers to not use the public restrooms at all, for a lot of reasons. hum? I couldn’t care less, actually, who was before me in “the stall”, as long as the facility is clean, or appears to be clean anyway. Of course, this restroom was immaculate, because the office I was in on Friday, is top drawer. lol

Olin!!! That is BRILLIANT, I say! May have to do the same here at the house. I am surrounded by MEN, and find the toilet up, lately, a lot. Could the “man” of the house, be having an age related moment??? After all, with four boys, and the boy I’m married to, I thought they all had it straight about the toilet seat, after all. Mom prefers to not be sitting in the water, after all??? OH MY GOODNESS!!! An alarming event, in the middle of the nite, when one isn’t quite awake, hum????? lol ~~laughing~~ oh my my my!!!

My girlfriend and I were heading for Okla, by air, to see my sis. The steward on the plane, ask politely, “…”ma’am”, would you “ladies” like a drink?” We looked at each other, and started giggling hysterically. YES! In that case, as we have moved fr “miss” and “girl” to “ma’am” and “ladies”, I think we need one for each hand, thanks!!!

I would agree, and of course, disapprove of laws made, that cannot be enforced, as many of “these” are. It does make those who propose these “laws” look very very very busy, and relevant, a must, if they wish to continue to hold their post, hum? We would all prefer to protect our children from ridiculous behavior, which might not serve them well in the future. It seems to me that this is in the hands of parents, and not the government, however, I agree. Before you say it, not every parent is blind and incompetent to what is going on with their teens. There will always be a portion of, however, that don’t give a flip, and to those there is no cure, of course. As a society, we should object, of course, but the government needs to keep their big boot out of the home front, in my humble opinion. Their interference often causes more havoc than any attempt to solve problems. lol

There is no need to apologize, for no offense was taken. I have been called way worse and were I so thin skinned I wouldn’t have any recourse but to avoid blogging entirely.

Airline booking fees charged by Travelocity, Orbitz and Expedia are on vacation through May. That’s giving travelers who had avoided those sites a reason to reconsider.

The fees generally run around $7 per transaction — just enough to send many travelers to airline Web sites. But in April, first Expedia (the biggest online travel agent) and then Travelocity and Orbitz suspended airline booking fees on tickets bought through May 31. Priceline.com had already dropped airline booking fees almost two years earlier.

That eliminates the big advantage held by airline Web sites, said Forrester Research travel analyst Henry H. Harteveldt.
