Alisyn in the Greenroom

Up Early Sunday

Rise and shine Everyone — we’re on an hour early this morning.  North Korea did just what the international community had hoped they  wouldn’t:  they launched a test missile last night.  Now what?  What can the U.S. do?

We have more reaction to President Obama’s first NATO meeting.  Sean Hannity will be here to tell us what he thought when he heard the President use the word “arrogant” to describe the U.S.  What are your thoughts?  How did the president do on the international stage?

Wanna work from home?  Here are the websites we talked about on the air:

LiveOps.com, AlpineAccess.com, SupportSpace.com, Tutor.com, TeamDoubleClick.com, Guru.com, oDesk.com, Elance.com

What do you make of the two-nosed bunny?  Name suggestions anyone?  you can send them (or buy the bunny) through purrfectpetsmilford.com

We have much more!  We’ll fire up the blog as news unfolds…

A very pleasant good morning and hello to you, Ali –

I am the early bird this morning and definitely enjoy Sean Hannity – double treat already with you on an hour early plus Sean. I guess we taxpayers paid top dollar for the Obummer and wife plus 500 aides’ vacation – aren’t we a generous lot of people, though Mr. Prez doesn’t speak highly of us financing his vacation, not very gracious of him. C ‘mon Sean, tell it like it is!

Good morning Alisyn and All. I woke up early and saw F&F on already. Alisyn you look great as always. I remember during the election Joe Biden told us that Obummer would be tested. He said you wouldn’t understand our response and to stick with us no matter what the poills showed. Is this the test he was refferring to? John

Comment by c.a. Marks

Good morning to you too! I’m glad to see you all on an hour early even if it is for the dreadful news of the N. Korean rocket launch.

Oh and I look forward to seeing Sean Hannity too. Ask him about what Mike Huckabee said about Obama apparently believing the Reverend Wright and hating America. Gov. Huckabee said it somewhere on your show recently.

Comment by c.a. Marks

OH, and people seem to forget that Obama has absolutely no experience with being a leader. Not that I am excusing him at all for what he does/says but I’m just not surprised is all.

Comment by c.a. Marks

In Obama’s speech – condemning the rocket launch – why didn’t we shoot it down then?!

Comment by John

Obummer talks big and smart but will he back up his tough talk? We will see.

Comment by Ed Reining

Darn Ali, doesnt North Korea understand the reprocussions when they make you lose an extra hours sleep? Oh well their is the restful chair in the gym.

Anyone wanting to sign the petition against Obama getting an Honorary Degree can go to Notredamescandal.com and sign. I also sent a letter to the White House and asked him to withdraw.

Good morning Ms. Alisyn,

Starting without us? You should have called or something. ;)

Not at all surprised that NK has defied us again. All you have to look at the past 50 years and you’d see that everything we have entreaty for has been ignored us once they got what we promised them.

It’s happened over and over again.

Morning Betty, C A, Ed and John.

The President called upon the UN for sanctions against N K for the launch. I hate to break this to you Mr. President but sanctions are ineffective against dictatorships. They don’t work because sanctions mostly hurt the people and since dictators could care less about the people there is no pressure against the dictators.

No matter what you do, the dictator is always just fine. If you think I’m wrong, look at how effective sanctions have been against Iran.

Comment by Bret Simmons

Hey Alison. Up early and just caught the segment on home business scams. Your guests list MLM as a scam. Not more than a minute later, your show ran a commercial for the second largest (behind AVON) MLM, Amway. The fact is MLM is NOT a scam, it is a legal and highly effective way of marketing products word-of-mouth. I would agree with your guests that some companies do things you people should be cautious about, but there are a number of legitimate companies with high integrity that present serious income opportunities for those that want to build a business part time from home.

Thanks,

Bret

Colleen,

I fear it’s too late to stop the embarrassment. I shudder every time Oblabber goes overseas and makes a speech.

What a shame that the world believes that he speaks for all Americans.

He does NOT speak for me !!!

Comment by Dave Besana

Good morning Alisyn and the rest of all of you here…

I must say as an American, I am very disappointed in the president. His coaching, speeches, his ‘arrogance,’ lack of respect for the presidency and other world leaders were disgusting can you imaging touching the Queen, every one knows not to do that, who the heck does he think he is, ahh a legend in his own mind…yeah that’s it. Some how we must keep him away from cameras and microphones and have him stay in the oval room where no one can hear or see him and where he has no influence on any current events or spending. We have 4 more years of this?? Help! While President Bush has contributed to this and must own some of what’s happened, but now, now we move in to socialism? I’m more concerned about my daughter and police officer, son-in-law and their future…

Comment by Gini

Good morning Colleen,
Before he embarrasses the citizens? I think you are right, but I’m afraid he already has done just that…for sure. :(

Comment by Me

He does not talk for ME either!!!

Comment by Colleen

Gary, I wish we could have someone behind him one of those rating charts that show the reaction of the American public to show just how we feel when he opens his mouth, really need it when talks without a prompter! He just figured out that other country’s have the brains to build a bomb–GeeWiz!

Comment by Gini

Good morning Gary,
Someone forgot to turn the puter off last nite, so my usual wait for it to “think” was dramatically shortened. I’m very glad you got here, unscathed! lol :)

Colleen,
I’ll stop complaining abt the possibility of a bit of “snow showers mixed w/rain”, then!!! You are in for a “snow storm” would seem, and that is yuk!
At least our “cowboy prez” struck a bit of fear in the hearts of those that would do us harm. This prez’s biggest threat is that he might talk them to death? with or w/o the prompter!!! :) :) :) oh my my my…

Comment by Colleen

Okay I know that violence begets violence–however now the N.K. has launch the missile why doesn’t the rest of the world summit say okay goofy guy we just pointed all of missile @ you & sit back & see just how fast this guy shuts his down!

Good Morning Alisyn and everyone on the blog this morning.

Well, I see Obummer is campaigning in Prague. His teleprompter I see is working very well this morning and he is dictating that something must be done to stop North Korea. Just words.

Like I said yesterday, the “one” is doing very well over there and he should just stay.

I think you react in much more intelligent way, when you are not surprised or shocked….

Comment by Colleen

Gini, your to funny!!!! For I’m sure he really could talk someone to death! Hey We should send Obummer–Blaba over there & do just just that! One problem though they might not let his teleprompter in! And that would really drive him over the edge of reason!

Good morning Alisyn, and everyone here at the greenroom blog! It is far too late to worry about the president embarassing us. He’s done that so many times since Jan 20, I’ve lost count. But then to go overseas and say we’re arrogant? From the most arrogant man to hold that office yet? That’s the icing on the cake so far, but I fear he will be busy baking more cakes to ice in the next 1385 days and 16 hours and 45 minutes. (thanks to the dog for those numbers!)

Hillary like Pelosi does not have a clue about guns in Mexico from America. Much less anything else she’s is out of touch with. Mexico has all our guns and we have all their illegal’s, that’s only 50% percent correct. Clayton, we need to give Mexico more aid now??? Come on Dude! Isn’t America already giving them enough support, heck most of their Olympic and Special Athletes are already here and getting free economic aid aren’t they??? I agree…Bush at least seemed much more genuine, down to earth. Obama’s lil blunder regarding bowling was an unfortunate comparison…but he at least seemed human…mistakes and all. When he talks or I should say reads the prompter…well that’s just it, he needs to learn to speak off the cuff..more…he will make mistakes..but the more he does, the better he will be.

I don’t care about Obama’s gaffes. It’s his neverending lies that trouble me. And his agenda for our country scares the hell out of me. And the number of Americans who feel the same as I are growing rapidly.

Comment by Gini

It would seem that our sometimes clumsy former prez, did at least know he was the PRESIDENT of the USA, and not campaigning to be RULER of the world? He did say at the beginning, if you want good prose, Laura needs to do the speaking, hum? He was definitely completely “transparent”, said what he thought, and if he wasn’t going to “tell”, he said so straight up! There was a good deal of comfort in the idea that he was a patriot, hum? lol For those that may be confused.

Hi Alisyn,
Korea launches their missle and Obama can make a great tough speech about it but the only action will be at the anti American U.N. where China will veto anything meaningful and we will show our weakness.
Geraldo can continue to gush about how great the first family looks overseas while Obama apologizes for past American actions and plays fast & loose with our sovereignty as a great nation which many fought and died for.
What a shame!

Comment by Lissa in Australia

I am watching from australia and I cant believe that americans havent woken up to how to deal with Nth Korea… the answer is so simple people… focus on China! they are backing the nth koreans so stop buying everything with a “made in china” sticker on it and watch them put a stop to nth korea testing missiles. China will not watch its economy crash just to help them. Hit them where it hurts america.. their wallets! Give the power of the all mighty dollar a go and you find that fixes the problem. In fact I cant believe you all havent done it by now… china is only powerful because 90% of the world contains things that are “made in china”.. crazy..

Good for Obama for saying the truth about America. We are an arrogant nation, and, guess what? Europe is an arrogant continent. The conservatives in America and the liberals in Europe, apparently even some of the conservatives there, are often self-righteous and condescending toward each other’s respective nations. Also, it is highly disingenuous of conservatives to imply that saying what President Obama did about America within America’s borders would have been any more acceptable to them; barely, if at all. And recognizing our own imperfections does not mean no one recognizes the good we’ve done.

The truth, hear me the truth, is that many conservatives don’t want criticism balanced with compliments, they want nothing but compliments, not just overseas, but in country as well.

Some conservatives are willing to admit our country is not perfect, but woe be onto the “anti-American” who dares to specify how.

Hannity reiterates his oft’repeated “How much has America done [for Europe]” garbage, and then goes on with one of his scripted rants. Good Grief!

But for the assistance of the Marquis de Lafayette during our Revolution, we would still be a colony of Great Britain, with Prince Charles residing in the White House as Governor General for his mum. But they never throw that into our face; it is only we, especially Hannity, who keep over and over yakking about how much they owe us, illustrating the Ugly Americanism which has diminished us in the eyes of other countries for decades.

Wayne, you used the word rehashing, obviously you have listened to Hannity. That is great, it all bears repeating what he does say. I wish more Americans would listen…………..

I have heard people call into his radio show, and tell Hannity that they now have buyer’s remorse for voting for the “one”. He is not for the hope and change that so many thought he would bring to this great country. The only hope and change that I have seen so far his the hope that he got into the White House and the change is: change of address from Chicago to DC. He is all for one……….himself.

Thanks for having us on your show this morning Alisyn! Busy day for you, what with the missile shoot, Obama’s reaction and all, but we appreciate the opportunity to talk about how to avoid work-at-home scams and our new book Undress For Success: The Naked Truth About Making Money At Home.

Working at home, as an employee, freelancer, or business owners offers people a way to escape the rat race, earn extra income, or replace their lost employment. Currently five million American’s call home their primary place of work. Another 50 million hold jobs that could be done at home.

There are legitimate home-based jobs with all-virtual employers, Fortune 500 companies, and small to medium-size businesses in a wide variety of professions. In addition, there are tons of opportunities to earn a full time income as a freelancer or home business owner. The list of work-at-home companies you post will give folks here a direct line to real jobs.

Fut don’t forget—for every legitimate work at home listing on the web, there are 20 or more that are scams. The FBI and FCC tries to police it but new scams are born everyday. Many unscrupulous marketers are using the down economy to lure unsuspecting job seekers into their nets.

Chas: “We do have much in the way of bragging rights.”
=======================================
The question is not whether one has “bragging rights”; the question is whether one is a braggart, a quality which undermines the rights. I don’t recall Albert Schweitzer, Mother Teresa, or our dear Ali ever “bragging” about their talents and contributions, yet they all would have the “right” to do so. But exercising that sort of “right” undermines the essence which gave rise to the right.

Mary,

Travelling overseas, I can tell you:

President Bush and his administration were viewed as arrogant. For this country to change/regain its reputation, President Obama offered a conciliatory message at the G-20. President Obama followed the arrogance comment up with how Europe had to accept responsibility and make changes too.

I find hope in that we’re not trying to pick a fight with everyone.

Talk might be cheap, but war is expensive.

Visitor,
War is an evil and ugly event, and we do not go easily, as a nation. We are generally pulled into any conflict, screaming and kicking the whole way. To diminish our noble efforts, in an evil world, is just not nice, do you think? Of course the world doesn’t like us, and they aren’t going to like us…we need to guard our sovereignty with out shame, and walk tall…if the world thinks that is “arrogant”, oh well, and so be it! Just who have they called, every time they have a hang nail? Good ol’ mean and arrogant, US of A, that’s who. So why are you so confused about our proud, albeit checkered fr time to time, history? We have been nothing if not diligent, in our efforts to make the “playing field” even, for our citizens, as well as the citizens of the world. lol hum? :)

Comment by Becky751

I ask you all; Where is Normandy? France. Our American president was in France as he called us arrogant and said that we as Americans don’t understand the contributions that Europe has made. How much American blood is deep in that soil? Our American soldiers jumped off boats into the water and tried to make it onto that beach and were like target practice….I don’t appreciate my president talking America and Americans down – adding insult to injury by speaking like that in the very country where we lost so many of our brave young men!!!!

Good, I’m glad that I misunderstood you; too many here, and elsewhere, rationalize our illegal invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan [like Cheney and Bush and Rumsfeld early on did] on the pretense that they were responsible for various terroristic acts, and continue that rationalization by bringing in the earlier world trade center thing and the Cole thing, and I thought that was where you were going, or had gone.

I agree re packs of dogs, and I would hunt them down wherever and exterminate them…, but I would not pretend such invites invasions and occupations of people not involved.

Comment by Gini

inthemiddleman…I don’t think we went to war w/Iraq over 9/11. We “invaded” Afghanistan, over 9/11, as I recall. Iraq was named as a “conspirator” for harboring “terrorists”, with full knowledge of their intent. We did not go to “war” over that, however, if I recall correctly. We went back into Iraq, because they broke the peace agreement they made w/”the world”, when we went over to help Kuwait. Now, you could argue that we shouldn’t have helped Kuwait, when Iraq invaded them, but you must recognize the lack of cooperation fr Iraq, when the “war” was held at a “cease fire”, if they would comply. They {Iraq} in “his arrogance” of it all, told the world to “shove it”, and then hid in a hole, now didn’t he? Sure…hum? lol

All should read Thomas Sowell’s cogent encapsulization of what we have become and where we are:

One of Dr. Sowell’s most perceptive points, a message as applicable to our pundits as to their politicians, is:

“Perhaps the scariest aspect of our times is how many people think in talking points, rather than in terms of real world consequences.”

Comment by Olin L

I really don’t know how to accomplish it, but I have an idea. Make an amendment to the Constitution that says “Congress may borrow no money unless each member that approves the borrowing signs on as a responsible party, thus relieving the American people the burden of repayment”.

About the Congressional ass-kissers in Cuba. If kissing up to the Castros was such a good idea, why didn’t Jimmy Carter or Bill clinton do it? Since when do congressmen and congresswomen have the authority to make any concessions to foreign governments?

Comment by lane bradford

Marc Shannon says he trusts the two-week-old sandbag dike behind his south Fargo house, but that didn’t stop him from asking a passing survey crew for some help as he prepared for a second crest of the swollen Red River.

Shannon wanted to know how high waters would have to creep to flood the first floor of his house. After surviving a record-setting crest at the end of March, he and other weary Fargo residents were hoping their sandbags can handle another round.

Comment by chas

2 problems with that Olin. 1. to borrow on the credit of the US is a enumerated power of Congress under the Constitution and 2 One Congress cannot bid another. In other words the debt would be passed on to the next Congress then they would have to sign.

Can’t do that.

Cap could go into greater detail I’m sure.

About the pirates. We can still hang them, can’t we? Or do we merely give them a pat on the butt and tell them to go and sin no more? That should put a stop to that nonsense.

For Obummer to say that this is not a Christian nation indicates, to me, that he is no Christian.

Comment by capmotion

Regarding chas’s comments in response to Olin, the fact that a power of Congress is contained in Art 1, section 8, does not mean it cannot be changed/conditioned by amendment. But I do fully agree with the second part of his comment. But to Olin, the answer is not further enactments, but instead to heed the current ones. Things are utterly out of control because we have not elected people who understand that the national government was intended to be a limited government, and limited to the powers granted it and enumerated; the national government has no “inherent” power – it has only what it was expressly given. The problem is how to get that across, both to voters and to the people voted in, and then to enforce it. But additional constitutional enactments to address problems which are spawned from failure to enforce the current ones makes no sense and would be utterly ineffective – and the one Olin proposes would not get past the Art. V minefield anyway.

Some interesting, and disturbing, quotes to mull over before the weekend.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened. I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.” Norman Thomas, six time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America, 1944.

“I once said ‘We will bury you’ and I got in trouble. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel, your working class will bury you.” Nikita Kruschev

“Economics is a subject that does not greatly respect one’s wishes.” Nikita Kruschev

“The press is our chief ideological weapon.” Nikita Kruschev

Was he a prophet of our downfall?

Comment by DogOnCrack

Olin, here are some more.

Education is a weapon whose effects depend on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed. – Stalin

America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within. – Stalin

We can’t expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism. – Khrushchev

Beginning July 6, the airline will offer one direct, nonstop flight, Monday through Saturday, to Mexico City that will continue on to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. AeroMexico will use 50-seat regional jets for the two-hour flight to Mexico City.

During a news conference Tuesday, Mayor Ray Nagin said the flight will be a boost to both tourism and business and provide for easier travel for regional residents who have family ties with Mexico and Honduras.

Why is Marcus Littrell and the murder of his puppy/therapy dog not being covered? This needs to be heard. Those men involved do not deserve a place on this earth!

Right You all are my Fellow American-Christian Patriots, GOD BLESS AMERICA,
Darth O’pressUS doesn’t know the first thing about Christianity in this country because he never really denounced Islam in the first place. Not even when he married Michelle & started going to Jeremiah Wright’s racist Church. Remember he said he started attending this church with Michelle and the kids he never said he was; saved, born again, or became a Christian at JW’s church. Islam it was his sacred birth right first, he cannot denounce it and live…

What does; Nero, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin, Khrushchev, Castro, and Chavez all have in common with our current President Commander and Chief B.H. Obama? They all have had or have very similar; Political rhetoric, Governmental propaganda, Socialistic doctrine, charismatic dogma, ulterior ideals, relative values, situational morals, and temporal ethics…

Hence, Obama is facilitating the necessary change in American constitutional politics, and culture of ushering us in to be aligned with the Socialist structure of Europe and its ultimate “Illuminist goals” of a One World; Government, Court system, monetary system and so on… Hence, comes the New World Order and its forerunner heralding the arrival on scene of the “United New World Messiah”, a.k.a. the Anti-Christ. Simply conspiracy or stark reality only time shall reveal? Check out “oak grove” on u-tube and decide for yourself if you dare…

A tornado struck a small Arkansas town on Thursday night, killing three people, injuring at least 24 and seriously damaging about 100 homes, emergency officials said.

Mena, near the Oklahoma state line, suffered a direct hit that destroyed at least 10 businesses, including city hall and two churches, Polk County emergency coordinator James Reeves said.

This is a fabulous video and even though a bit long (6 minutes) it is WELL worth watching and passing on. Somehow those of us with conservative principals absolutely have got to get more “radical” or we’re going to lose our country. I hope the link works. If not, just copy and paste into your browser.

Rove will command Bush to say it never happened, so that’s what Bush would say. Nothing new there.

Today, on a major cable network, viewers learned that “normal” people are finding jobs in about about 5 months. But, the announcer added, “seniors can take up to 10 months!” Yesterday, I received an email from an educational service abroad that said: “If you are over 55, it will be quite difficult for you to find a school (for me to teach English as a second language) but we can try.” The picture of me is current and I do teach reading part-time to 6th and 7th graders, and I have an extensive international background. So I realized that there must be something abnormal about us seniors and created this blog to find out why we have lost our value when we hit at least 55. It is time we are allowed to continue to contribute to society. Like most of you, I am tech savvy, alert, and outgoing with a quick mind. But I learn from the media I must hide the strength of my resume because “it will give away my age.” Hide your assets? Young people and old alike enjoy working with me so where do elephants go to die? We need to change our society’s (and others) views on why experience becomes a handicap. If experience and success are not the measure of value, what is?

I agree. Justice Stevens is 89 and no one thinks he is slowing down [and he isn't, even if you disagree with his jurisprudence], and Holmes was over 90 before he did; it was only because of the social security system and ages given there that we developed this thought that people over [some age] are dottering. I’ve known [and daily see] people in their 30s who are aged and demented, and people over 80 who are sharp and insightful, and we need to desist from this knee-jerk ageism and focus on substance.

It must really bug those who are so much more intelligent that the anti-american goons enjoy freedom of speech, too. And it’s always amusing to me that those who disagree are always less intelligent.

Most of us are broad minded enough to admit there are two sides to every question- our own side, and the side that no intelligent,informed,sane,self-respecting person could possibly hold. (author unknown)

Congrats once again to you madam!
