In Case You Missed It…Blago on the Blog
by Alisyn Camerota
Earlier this morning on FOX & Friends, I had an exclusive interview with impeached Governor Rod Blagojevich…take a look!
done

Way to Ali, Blago definitly has a canned message thats makes it hard to get anything out of him, but your interview was extremely good. Thank goodness you didnt have to go out and beat on window to get him to talk to you.
Ed
Yes, it was nice to have him in the newsroom, rather than on a roof. Thanks for watching!
good interview Alisyn!
I saw his interview on cbs this morning..
He has obviously rehearsed this quite a bit.. Maybe it was in his ipod while he jogged yea?
Way to make him stutter
is their an email to reach you clayton and brian? other than the blog..
Do we really know any more now than we did before the interview? Most interviews of this type are basically time fillers, and the only thing we see is maybe a little body language if the subject is nervous or uncomfortable. Try to give us news that is important to the general public.
Blago’s problems have little or no affect on what is happening in Washington. Until there is a trial, we will know little more than we know now. If he is coerced into pleading guilty then none of the evidence will become public record, and the rest of the gang will go free.
At least that is the way it works in Louisiana. You can bet that if someone “IMPORTANT” is about to go down, someone of lesser stature (sacrificial lamb) will jump under the bus to protect them. The only thing we don’t know is if Blago is the lamb.
That is all part of the political process. CYA!!!
Alison:
Your interview this morning was a class act… the questions were smooth and to the point. I believe you did rattle and shake his concentration/& obviously rehearsed comments!
Ali,
Loved the interview this morning. I especially when he said you should have gone easier on him.
This proves that you are a true journalist with good instincts. You were well prepared and very professional in the interview.
You could tell that you hit him with a few questions he really did not want to answer..e.g. “Is there a deal on the table.”
Wish you luck in getting more interviews of this type.
People should realize BLOGO blew off Geraldo, who had to do his in the street, but he came to you.
Great job.
Frank
Excellent job, Alisyn
I’ve watched quite a few interviews with this guy yesterday, and no one questioned his baloney talking points or even tried to. Maybe Barbara W. did a little….but that’s it. What a professional interview! By far…..let me say that again….by far the best interview! I sent a link of the video to a friend….she will send it on…..Thank you!
Hi Alisyn
That was a great interview…. although he kept saying the same thing over and over.
One thing people dont understand about Illinois politics is we enjoy sending our governors and their aids to prison…
Also…loved the dress you wore today… where did you get it… my wife would look hot in it as well
Good get Alisyn! I hope he comes back to you when he can discuss [as much as he would] the tapes and his version and interpretation of the conversations. You did a good job of trying to get a few more details out of him but he is well schooled on what to and what not to say by his PR manager, he must be listening to someone if not his attorney!
Alisyn, I’ve got to hand it to you for your great interview with Governor “Lie”avich. I don’t think I have ever seen a person squirm so much. He was very uncomfortable with the double edged questions and follow up questions you threw at him. From the first question, it seemed as if he was saying to himself, “What was I thinking when I took this interview?”
Can I leave you with a poem I wrote several years ago about politicians?
The Rat
A rat is just an animal with a nose for finding food,
A politician is a rat with a lying attitude;
A rat will often find a hole, a place he’ll call his house,
A politician has no home, in fact he’s just a louse;
If any one can screw things up I know just who it’d be,
I’m sure it’d be the phony guy that wants to speak for me;
“Send me!”, he says, “I’m the one, and I’ll not let you down”,
Of course the fool we voted for is still the same old clown;
With grinning teeth and outstretched hand, he’ll take your money yes,
He’ll lie and steal and cheat his friends and never ever fess,
He’ll tell you what you want to hear and if that’s not enough,
He’ll feed you all that verbal stool and top it off with fluff,
In other words we’ve got a guy that said he’d go to bat,
Next time I vote, I’ll vote him out, and then I’ll choose the rat.
hi ali
excellent interview as always you ask the right questions but dont badger the person you are interviewing i am very confused by him i have been watching a lot of his interviews and he never changes his story he is either well prepared or he is telling the truth its been a while since he has been indicted but nothing else has been done in my humble opinion there is a reason for that he might have a lot of information on a lot of people and they dont know how to deal with him they might be giving him enough rope hoping he will hang himself but the more i listen to him the more i think there might be some truth in the things he is saying
thanks ali job well done and you looked lovely
pat from new port richey, fla
Hi Alisyn,
Enjoyed the replay as much as seeing it the first time around on air this morning. Great job.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sat. & Sun.
Paul–Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Great Job on your interview with Blago! I do agree however that if your going to be brought forth by any justice all the cards should be on the table. Blago should be able to air his private conversations in their entirety and we should be able to hear them in full if we are going to have a fair and balanced opinion on the situation. I have learned that bits and pieces of information can lead to very unbalanced truths. What do you think about that yourself Alisyn?
It’s quieter than usual in the South Bend, Ind., suburb of Mishawaka, and it doesn’t look like that will change any time soon.
The plant located there that assembles the HUMMER H2 sports-utility vehicle for General Motors was idled on Monday for what was originally expected to be five weeks, but staff members say they have been told that it will be closed for at least an additional 15 weeks beyond that.
Responding to rumors that the assembly line has been permanently dismantled, Craig MacNab, a spokesperson for AM General, the company that operates the facility for General Motors, says the plant is intact and ready to restart production when and if they get the word from GM.
That was a great idea to post the interview for those of us who were not able to watch it live. You did a nice job. I hope you can give us some behind the scenes details on your Saturday show now that would be interesting.
I keep reading that the standards of impeachment and conviction in the Illinois capitol are much different from a criminal trial but I haven’t heard any discussion or read anything that tells me what the difference is in detail. It would be good if you could have some experts on to explain the difference. It seems to me that there might be enough evidence to bring impeachment charges against him and possibly convict him in the senate but unless there is a lot more evidence not yet heard I doubt there is enough there there to convict him in a real court of law. Even though he is a very unpopular politician at this point.
Good morning Alisyn, Thank you for making your interview available! You did a fantastic job– professional poised and polished. Excellent.
I see your blog has attracted some new extremely insightful intelligent bloggers. WHAT A GREAT ADDITION, I pray they stay and ignore the rude ones who seem to be intimidated or not very happy the attention isn’t on them and constantly stir up trouble. I really enjoy reading the polite exchanges and discussions. I have learned a lot reading your blog and have a fun time interacting with you. I only wish I could I could be a part of the action every weekend! haha Thank you for allowing this forum to continue when you are off air, for those of us who have to miss it live.
Alisen,
God forbid that Blago’s intent would turn into another Budd Dwyer incident with all his tactics with the press and the victomization media push. I would hope not!
Exclusive???????????? Are you kidding me? He has been on almost every show possible. How can you call it an exclusive?
Missed this interview but saw yesterday’s–my question/speculation is this: are the dems just letting him (Blog) be the fall guy here, quickly impeaching him, as he should be impeached; but he’s the perfect one to let fall because of what we know/hear of him- we all are disgusted by his political dealings–but, should we be hearing ALL of the tapes, are there other people involved the dems don’t want revealed, delved into and they keep us all, the conservation press especially, all focused on this Blogojivick?? We are only hearing a couple of the tapes–are there other things we might should hear, other people who might could be implicated in shadyIllinois dealings that we should know about? Should we be digging deeper rather than just letting the dems expose only Blog?
I think there is more to this story then just Gov Blagojevich,
and I would like to know who else is on this taped conversations,
when this go’s to court, can then Blago call the witnesses he wants?
Good morning Sal,
I think we are all anxiously waiting for the other shoe to drop, but we may never really get to know. Alysin was great tho, with her interview, wasn’t she. re: Blago…
For the blogger who was curious about the “rules of impeachment”, I think you could ask or go to capmotion’s site, or Chas’s site, and they would and could answer your question.
Good Morning Gini,
yes Alisyn did a great job, and will ask Chas or Capmotion,
how about all this snow, its coming down fast.
Sal
The only website I see for Capmotion is the law firm, is there another one I am not aware of? Please pass it along they seem very informed. Thank you in advance.
Mike S: I do not believe there is an additional site for capmotion. We asked him that the other day and he said no. He has been very kind in answering questions here.
Thank you Claudia
Sal,
If not that, at least I could make a huge pot of broccoli cheese soup and some beer bread. Now, that does sound good. Slide on over for dinner folks…it makes a lot!!!!!
We are at a level 2, in Franklin County. All city workers were delayed until 11a, so hubby didn’t have to dash out at the crack of dawn. I work part time, so I called and said I would not be in at all today. It continues to snow…actually a mixture. Earlier it was huge white flakes. Looked like a picture, actually. Lovely, unless one needed to go out!!! Now it is a mixture of sleet and snow/rain? who knows! What a mess. Thank you Texas, for your gift of bad weather!!! ~~laughing~~ All schools and many business’s are closed, due to weather. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, for sure!!!!! The pipes are wrapped now, so no more broken pipes. Dad is recovering nicely, and snug and warm, in the hospital still…prob won’t make it there today either, but hopefully hubby will manage to stop on his way home. Does this mean I must do a bit of cleaning, since I stayed home? WHAT??? AND YIKES!!!
I think Alisyn’s burning desire to interview Blagojevich stems from her years at AMW conducting interviews with hardcore criminals. Not that Blago is necessarily hardcore, I’m just saying. It was a terrific interview. The best of him I’ve witnessed yet.
Congratulations Alisyn for landing the interview, and kudos for conducting it so well. And also, a big thanks for uploading it to your blog.
Sal,
~~laughing now~~ lost two to cyber space, but, yes the snow is coming down fast. It’s a mess! I called off work tho, so I am looking out the window, not driving around in it! lol
I cannot figure out when to watch Fox when I can see Alyson. It seems you are rarely on at 6 AM or weekends. Please tell me when I can see you on Fox. You are fun, smart, witty, and so natural.
Your interview with Blago was the best of the morning or evening shows.
This guy has some CHUTZPAH !
Saying to you ” you are being mean to me” … Is he kidding? He hasn’t heard the tape? How come we all have heard part of the recordings? What a liar!
Alisyn, I think you were GREAT, and I am not just saying that because I like you… girl, you are some journalist.
Looking forward to seeing you in Fox and Friend on the weekend.
Kate,
Alysin is on F&F, on the weekends, but sometimes is on during the week, for a special event. She is wonderful, isn’t she? lol
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ first Super Bowl practice in Tampa was like every other Wednesday workout all season. Wide receiver Hines Ward was on the sidelines.
Ward, wearing a small black brace on his injured right knee, did running and cutting on a side field as the Steelers practiced at the University of South Florida for Sunday night’s game against Arizona.
Even if Ward had been healthy, it’s almost certain he wouldn’t have practiced. The 32-year-old Ward was held out of all Wednesday practices by coach Mike Tomlin to keep him from wearing down during the long season.
Great interview Alysin!! I think it should be investigated as to why they are so eager to string him up. I sense an undercurrent here…….
NASA wants the public to determine where in the universe it will next aim the powerful Hubble Space Telescope.
The space agency is encouraging Internet surfers to log onto the Hubble Web site and vote for one of a six astronomical objects for the renowned telescope to examine for the first time.
The options, none of which the Hubble telescope has not previously photographed, include four distant galaxies (two of which are colliding), two planetary nebulas and one star-forming dust cloud.
Winter tests the patience of many iPhone users.
After all, Apple Inc.’s device, like other gadgets with touch-screen technology, will work only with the touch of an uncovered finger. So if you’re wearing gloves, you have a dilemma: Bare your hands to use your beloved devices, or let calls, texts and e-mails go unanswered while you’re braving the elements?
A company called 4sight Products Inc. has a solution: $40 gloves that have electrically conductive gold-colored material on the tip of the index finger and thumb. Apple must think it’s a good idea as well — it has filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for gloves that would essentially do the same thing. (Apple didn’t return a call seeking comment.)
While I enjoy listening to the Judge, he has apparently made up his mind without benefit of the years of problems we in Illinois have had with Blago. Rod has spent state funds illegally, sidestepped legislative regulatory requirements, and violated statutes regarding hiring, contracts, promotions, and a host of legal safeguards. You don’t get a 7% approval rating without cause. One of the final straws was the closing of nearly all our state parks and recreation areas, including Lincoln sites on Lincolns’s 200th birthday, in addition to his shakedown efforts…which are a violation of ethics AND law.
Perhaps a bit more investigation is in order.
Had he taken a different path, Ken Whisenhunt might’ve built twin-span bridges or eight-lane freeways or metropolitan airports by now.
He wound up going in another direction, and oversaw a much more improbable project: The construction of a winning NFL team in Arizona.
Sad sacks for so long, the Cardinals — a nomadic franchise that drifted from Chicago to St. Louis to the desert — will try for their first Super Bowl championship Sunday. An old-line power stands in their way, a Pittsburgh Steelers outfit aiming at its record sixth title.
