Sunday Morning
A lot to get to today. What do you think of the so-called “safe haven” law in Nebraska that allows parents to drop their children off at a hospital, basically disowning them, no questions asked? We’ll talk to two mothers who did just that.
And President-elect Obama has suggested that there will be a Republican in his cabinet. Who do you think he will choose and for which post?
For something a little lighter, who’s is your all-time favorite Bond Girl? Clayton has a moment with Craig. Daniel Craig.
And remember to tune in at 8:50 (est) to see Terrell Owens share his secret to 6-pack abs with me. He shows me how to do his favorite exercises in the gym. My muscles will never be the same.

Chuck Hagel even though hes really not with the party. McCain and Obama have a meeting set for Mon in Chicago maybe McCain. National Security Advisor maybe. It would be nice to see McCain get a job in the White House.
Goodmorning all, Hope your weekend was kind to you. If not just think we start all over tomorrow, Its like being Catholic lol.
Good morning Ms. Alisyn.
This is why you have to be careful of the laws you pass. Knee jerk laws tend to allow loopholes and some schmuck is going to take advantage of it.
And what kind of parent drops off a 16 – 17 year old kid anyway?
IF P-E Obama puts a Republican in his administration it will no doubt be some RINO that should be in the Dem party anyway. Thus far the only change I see is a change back to Clinton people.
Favorite Bond girl? That would be Halle Berry, after you of course.
Good luck today with the games Ms. Alisyn. I’d like to see you make a strong move towards the #1 spot.
chas
Good Morning Alisyn,
The NE law is good, but there ought to be a limit. I mean, to drop off a 17 year old is a bit much.
I agree with Dover-Hagel, maybe sec of defense? What about Arlen Specter? Is the Penn governor dem or republican? If Specter would go, would a dem be selected to replace him, giving the senate a definite commie majority?
I would rather see dropped off safely than have parents who don’t want them neglect and/or abuse them. If those kind of parents have an easy and more or less anonymous way of unloading their “burden”, maybe it would be better for the kids?
Alisyn, you are not on yet here in Missouri, but your actual image is always better than anything i can conjure in my imagination (and believe me, I conjure plenty)-hurry up!!!!
The heck with TO’s abs-will we get to see yours?
As soon as they look just like T.O.’s
Why are they removing the kids who WANT to recite the pledge from the classroom? That is exactly backwards.
They should be taking the kids who do not want to pay respect to their Country and make them go out of the room.
chas
Great point. Mind if I repeat it for on-air use?
It is better to do drop the children off, than to read about them as a domestic violence statistic. Maybe some of their parents have such deep problems they can not handle them anymore. I think that is a more responsible way to handle the problem than some parents kicking their kids out in the street which so many parents have done. You read it all the time that parents cannot cope and the kid is thrown out so the 17 year old is in better hands with the state rather than the streets.
I don’t have a problem with the Pledge of Allegiance, but, if a school decided to take it out, i would be alright with that too. A lot of those things should be left to the home environment. Just make sure my kids can read, write, etc., please.
As for the pledge of allegiance issue, I think the kids should say it in the classroom and those whose parents don’t want them to participate should step outside the room. It eats up too much time to find those who want TO participate and then take them to other parts of the school. That’s ridiculous. Why should the patriotic children be isolated?
My kids say the Pledge of Allegiance every day along with the Pledge to the Texas Flag. I teach my kids how to say “one nation under God” without the pause…. “one nation (pause) under God.” Because there’s no comma there and that does change the meaning a bit. Here’s the Texas Flag Pledge………Honor the Texas flag, I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.
The pledge is my 5 yr tylers favorite he made me buy him a poster sized copy for his room. from what I understand they still say it in the classroom in bordentown nj
Morning Alisyn,
Once again the main problem in America is we cater to the minority. I am sorry but the Pledge of Allegience is a tool that reaffirms our citizenship. I am so tired of each minority preaching diversity. They need to start preaching UNITY. We are the UNITED STATES not the Diverse States of America.
Regarding reciting the Pledge of Allegiance – Though we don’t have any kids in school, my feeling is – if you have a problem doing this or with your kids doing this, then seriously – WHAT are you doing in this country??? Show some patriotism, appreciation, and some flippin respect, for crying out loud! Is that too much to ask?
About the Pledge of Allegience, I have one 6th grade student who simply stands there, unnoticed, while we say the pledge. He doesn’t make a big deal about it. We also have a moment of silence before the pledge. Our principal leads the whole school, grades 4-6, in both of these over the PA every morning!
Uhh Ohhh, what are the chances of this law progressing to the point where children will be able to “drop off” their parents?
Have we all forgotten, Do we remember or is it we dont care? We are a Nation built under God at the time, Now it is not political correct to say it. If my childrens school did this, I would pull them out and home school them. This is one house that remains and allways will be built under God.
RE: VT school Pledge of Allegiance plan
IF you wish to be an American citizen, say the full pledge. IF you wish to rewrite history and redefine laws, social policy, cultural customs and all other elements of a society or community to be self-serving – then find a new “allegiance”. The land of the free is becoming the land of the me.
We have a safe haven law that was designed to help keep young teens from tossing newborns in the dumpster. I’ve never heard of it being used in any other way.
Our nine year old son’s school still has the Pledge. It’s done over the loudspeaker. All of the kids first say it in English, and then in Spanish! Strange?
Hi Alisyn, I home-school my 10 year old daughter – we meet with a group of homeschoolers each Tuesday for study/support.. Before the day begins, we have our Pledge of Allegiance as well as a prayer. We hold our classes in a church.
My two older daughters attend a public highschool here in South Carolina and they still have the pledge of allegiance. One morning after taking them to school, a military man (don’t remember which branch)stopped dead in his tracks and saluted as it was read. We were both outside and it was audible via the speaker system in and out of the school. Thought you’d like to know! Love the show.
Thanks Susan. That’s an evocative image.
Hi Aliyson,
I am a school teacher in Maine, and I would be extremely upset if my school district made the decision to take the pledge out of the classroom! Isn’t it our freedom to show our support to our country, without people making a spectacle of us? If you don’t want to say it… I don’t care, but sit and be quiet!
Re: Pledge of Allegiance – At Age 5
Hey Alisyn:
The God part was not the issue. I was just trying to understand whether or not there were “witches” in the pledge of allegiance. That’s what the other kids insisted. … ” for which it stands …’
I didn’t know whether or not there was such a thing as “witched stands”.
Hey, we’re talking milk and cookies and a nap in the afternoon. Salerno butter cookies! What did we little kids know back in the 1950s?
Mark
Los Angeles
.
I teach in middle school and we say the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, led by someone from the office over the intercom. We have done this for years, after the students are invited to join in a moment of silent reflection.
Question for Alisyn: Is Fox going to check into the background of Obama’s Senior Advisor, Valerie Jarrett? Born in Iran and lives in Chicago and has all the ties to those of Obamas’, Rezko, etc. I would like to see the Dems get rid of Pelosi and vote Hillary in as Speaker of the House. I don’t think McCain will take any position because he and Obama don’t agree on much of anything. Don’t think Colin Powell will, he has an illness. I think we would have a better chance of picking the BCS champs than who Obama will pick. Thanks
Regarding the Pledge of Allegience: Id be outraged that my child needs to LEAVE the classroom to hide out and say the Allegience. Take out the other students who do not want to take part in a national tradition. Of course, the God believers will be on the losing end.
So, Have the kids step out into the hallway with a flag PRESENTATION and ceremony at the end of the hallway. No need to be removed from thearea of their class. This will reduce the feelings of being ostracized, banished or bullied for their belief!
I live in Vermont. there is a race of people here who I suspect are actually from another planet as they are surely not American. This place exists somewhere between the eithersphere and leninism. As most of them walk around with this dazed look on their collective faces, I suspect kool-aid sales are brisk here. Would someone please put something in the water to fix it ? PLEASE.
Its funny how people now days only call to GOD in thier time of need and at thier final hour. Do people think that GOD is never in time of need?
When I taught (not long ago, by the way), we said the Pledge every morning. Some students did not recite it for religious reasons. Those students had the option of remaining seated or standing quietly. They always simply stood quietly. It was never a problem. It removed any stigma from either saying or not saying it because the other students didn’t know who was reciting and who wasn’t. Students don’t like to be removed from the room for much of anything. It should never be made harder to show patriotism toward one’s country.
We recently moved to TN and my children DO say the pledge. The school is 1st through 8th grade and they say it over the PA system. They also have a moment of silence there after! My children (5 – college down to pre-k) have always had the pledge in their classroom.
We move around quite a bit with my husband’s job and when they went to one school in GA, they even said grace before meals.
Gotta love the south!
All four of my children are fortunate to go to a school where they proudly say the pledge of allegiance ,the pledge to the Christian flag and the pledge to the Bible . To bad we cant get the government to pass a voucher program.
If you could only go by Obama’s short past, then probably not.
If Obama wants a moral compass in the White House, then none better then Joe Lieberman.
Favorite Bond Girl: Jane Seymour followed by Denise Richards.

Good morning Alisyn,
The Nebraska drop off law that was obviously designed to protect the infant children born to Mother’s who aren’t either responsible enough or intelligent enough to understand their options available to them when they find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy. My question is did Nebraska have an unusual number of those Mothers? Is there enough education available to these Mothers so that dropping off a baby at a hospital is even necessary? The fact that it wasn’t necessarily infants that have been dropped off and instead have been older children mostly approaching or in their teenage years tells us that we have some desperate parents out there that love their children enough to go to this extraordinary length. I think parenting classes should be included in the sentencing of juveniles that have broken the law in some way. Not that it is the parents fault of the children’s sin.
Republicans in the Obama administration. Hagel is the obvious, although apart from the war he is VERY conservative, and I don’t know that he and Obama agree on much other than the war. How about Lieberman? haha (he is a republican isn’t he? )
I don’t have a fav bond girl.
Barack WILL NOT establish a Team Of Rivals.
In the event he selects Republican Senators, they will come from States where the Democratic Governors will appoint Democrat Senators to replace them — thus getting to 60 Senators.
That’s the real goal.
Hillary wants her campaign debt paid off, not a job in BO’s cabinet.

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?
Gooooodmornin’, Babycakes! Someone else already stole my thunder in that the people who are removed from a classroom are the ones who deviate from the norm- AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO PLEDGE? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The ones who want to abstain should be led out of the classroom and by doing so be made to feel abnormal, or offensive- which seems to be what the State of Vermont wants its pledgeworthy children to feel! The times, they are a changin’!
Back at ya Sweetcheeks.
Good Mornin! About the Pledge issue. Why dont they try this: remove the kids from the classroom that DONT want to Pledge so the others can stay. Just a thought. I bet the people against the Pledge wouldnt like that one bit! ROLL TIDE!!!
Re: The Pledge
Our kids say the Pledge and the Lord’s Prayer. Oh, but we homeschool, so that probably doesn’t count.
And that is how it should be handled Ms. Liz.
Just stand, be quiet and show respect.
chas
Correct me if Im wrong, but if Hilary is offered, and accepts Sec. of State, wouldn’t that leave her Senate seat open to be fill by the choice of Gov. Bloomburg?
Favorite Bond Girl, Ali-syn! She already has the Bond girl name and she has a license to thrill!
There surely is no smarter and sexier actress that has been in a Bond movie. Plus Ali-syn has really hunted down killers. Jumped off of a Navy ship. Flown in a blimp. Stood in the ‘Globe of Death’. She has the power to enslave millions of men with just a smile, a raised eyebrow or a glimpse of her gorgeous legs. Not to mention her deadly wit.
I submit Ali-syn, is a real life Bond girl! (Now where do I submit my resume to be Bond?)
I thank you Malone. Mike Malone. Now go get your new eyeglass prescription.
I forgot to mention about the Pledge that many of our Kindergarten students did think that the last words of the Pledge were, “Have a nice day,” because that’s what the principal always says when we finish!
The Obama questionnaire will eliminate a lot of people, how could Hillary possibly pass this one. If she does what does that say about the questionnaire?
Obama’s choice of a liberal Republican Senator would be a very dangerous strategic move against the right. Republicans cannot afford to lose a member to an Obama adimistration due to the fillibuster. Our numbers are too close to afford the loss of just one. I know they are aware of this on the Hill and I only hope if one is chosen, he or she will have the fortitude to decline.
My daughter-in-law recently sent me a video of my 3 yr old grandson saying the pledge, I was one proud nana. And he was proud of himself for learning it.
First off, I want to say the pledge belongs in the classroom, especially if the majority wish it so. When did this country start worrying about insulting one person at the cost of insulting the majority. If I remember properly, isn’t free speach guaranteed in the constitution; not freedom from having your feelings hurt? Secondly, as someone that actually lives in VT, I want to apollogize to the rest of America. Really, we’re not all flaky and some of us (the VERY silent minority) are actually conservative. We’re fighting the fight but it’s an up-hill battle. Common fellow conservatives, how about moving this way and helping us out. Lastly, if I were a kid and you told me I can get out of class for this, count me in!!!!
BO will not establish a team od rivals,
The best Bond Girl was Ursula Andress. Can’t beat the beach scene.
Ursula Andress, perfect figure, water scene that Halle Berry copied a classic and the accent was perfect. All the others that followed had a hard time measuring up.
Good Morning Alisyn

I think that ANYONE who has a problem with their children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, because it contains “under GOD”, should consider taking their children to another country, that doesn’t believe in GOD. There are plenty of them in this world, and I’ll even help them pack their things! I and many other patriotic citizens, have served this country, to protect the rights of these people, so that they may have the freedom they enjoy. My brothers in arms have risked our lives to protect what the flag represents, so if you don’t want to pay respect to it, and what it stands for, “GET THE HELL OUT OF MY COUNTRY”!
I notice that the female four star is wearing a COMBAT parachute badge. She must have an interesting background.
Matt,
I believe that Bloomberg is only the Mayor. The Governor would either replace or a special election would be held, depending on the State laws.
chas
I have been a kindergarten teacher for twenty nine years, and a day has never begun in my classroom without reciting the “Pledge of Allegiance” to the flag of the United States of America”. The children stand up straight and tall, with their right hand over their heart, and we show respect for our flag and our country. If a child is from a religious faith which does not acknowledge the fact that our flag stands for “one nation under God”, he or she may be excused from the group or stand quietly.
I see the following ‘Rap’ublicans as potential top picks for the Obama cabinet. #1, as I have been touting for weeks now is 50 Cent as Secretary of the Treasury. #2, I’d go with Grand Master Flash as Secretary of Defense, #3 Snoop Dog would be a fine choice for Director of Homeland Security, and #4 Dr. Dre is the only clear choice for Surgeon General.
With picks like these, Americans can count on secure borders and economic reform.
I grew up saying the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer every morning before class began. I am proud of my country and proud to salute our flag and pledge allegiance to it and my country. My feeling is that if you are not willing to pledge allegiance to our country (as the pledge is written) then you do not deserve to be a citizen here, please leave. Oh, and if anyone thinks our kids don’t pray in school, just listen to the whispers berfore a big test.
Alisyn, you might want to tell Dave that Sec of the Navy is NOT a cabinet position. The Sec of Navy answers to the Sec of Defense, which is a cabinet position.
I vote for Ursula Andress. She set the standard for all to come.
This past Thursday, November 13th, in Wake Forest, NC, we had a PTA performance called “Celebrate America” performed by the kidergarten classes at the school. We all stood and proudly said the Pledge of Allegiance. There is no such question about our country or “Under God” here. I think the school system making their students leave the classroom the declare their support for our nation is disgraceful!

“Are you smarter than a 5th grader?”
Dover: I was 5 years old in kindergarten. At that age, children believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.
As to your didactic pronouncements about God, you might reflect on your own religious education and moral compass before you start in firing sarcastic comments at complete strangers.
Mark
Rather see the child dropped off than to be physically and verbally abused hour after hour, day after day. The language and names that adults call their own children is outrageous. Infancy and toddler ages are difficult for many and Id like to see parents able to place their child…and NEVER get them back.
I don’t know, Alisyn, but that picture of Britt Eckland looks like you in the greenroom working the microwave. Seriously, it does.
Have you been drinking?
You can bet all you own on the fact that IF o picks a republican he will do so from a state with a dem gov. ie ,either “senator” from Maine as both are rep in name only.
Rick our country (government) doesn’t believe in God, some people who live in our country believe in God.
Just stand quietly is the answer, whats the big deal? To me its just like when I attend Temple with friends, I don’t participate in some of the service but I do stand quietly and am respectful or when I am in other countries and they play their national athemn.
I would not pledge my allegiance to a state or state flag though as they do in TX public schools.
There is a ignorant teacher in FL that was having his students say under Obama, Im not joking. He has since been suspended.
Soon we will be just likje the dam French, oh yea Obama loves them, and wants us to learn there language.
It is really sad one moment Clayton is speaking about how far women have come in this world, the next he is treating women like sex ojects when speaking about the the Bond girls. Have we really come that far?
This is America we are able to fail, Failure just sets you up for your next success. Im tired of this stupid Gov bailing everyone out.
Holly Berry…….she was a very hot Bond Girl……..with attitude ….
Perhaps Obama will ask a Republican Senator from a state with a Democrat as Gov. This would most likely result in a Dem being appointed by the Gov to fill out the term and help move the Senate to the magic 60 votes to close a filibuster.
But I am sure such political power moves would never come into consideration, right?
Sooner or later we have to stop printing money, theres nothing to back it up.
MALONE you got that sooooo right. People think he wants to be partisn, and we know how honest he is.

Hmmm, if auto companies fail….you are also effected, if you have a warranty still on your car.
Traveling on Christmas day sounds like a nice plan. We tried that once … were stuck in the Atlanta airport for 5 1/2 hours because a flight attendant didn’t show up. We were told over a hundred of them had called in “sick” apparently, a Christmas flu.
A republican from a state with a democrat as a governor or holds special elections would never accept a position in an Obama administration. They would be thrown out of the party!
This is how the pledge has changed over the years..
1892
“I pledge allegiance

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all.”
1923 to 1924
“I pledge allegiance

1924 to 1954
“I pledge allegiance

Thanks Wayne, I thought that was the case : that under God was added to the “pledge” recently and not how it was originally written but was too lazy to look it up. I think that is the same with our money too? Isn’t it?
Alisyn, you need THIS minivan!
I have a Dodge Grand Caravan, and I absolutely LOVE it. The feature I love best is the fact that you can open AND CLOSE both the sliding side doors and the rear hatch at the touch of a button on the key fob (or inside the cabin). Anyone with small children, such as yourself, should find this feature extremely convenient. (The other models, such as the Chrysler Town and Country, also offer this feature.)
Mine is 5 years old, but still gets good gas mileage. I’m sure the newer ones get even better mileage.
Good luck with your quest to find a vehicle!

Obama is looking for a Republican sacrifice to toss into the Democrats. Sort of like meat into the shark tank. He will pick someone that has voted or sided more with the Dems than the Republican party. One individual doesnt make it bipartisan. I still believe that Obama is still a Puppet. Its the individuals around him that have the knowledge.
Re. Obama Cabinet
Obama may look to appoint a Republican Senator from a state with a Democrat Governor. In that way, the Democrat will appoint the replacement.
He might find a Republican who is up for reelction in 2010 and who is afraid of defeat.

I think Obama may be pressured to nominate Republican Senators whose state is likely to elect a Democrat as replacement. We’re only looking at 2 or 3 seats under fillibuster.
Forcing the 5 year olds to make a decision of whether or not to do the pledge is insane. My 5 year old has a hard time deciding what snack he wants. How is he supposed to understand the reason to say the pledge? Oh, wait, that’s what parents are for. Where are the parents in this decision?
And why are you showing scantily clad past Bond girls, while we’re getting ready for church? Fox and Friends lead us not into temptation!

I think parents abandoning a child in Nebraska as old as 16 or 17 is deplorable. Imagine the kind of scarring that would do to a kid.
It was done during a upsweep in religious feeling around the time of the Civil War if memory serves so I suspect that Lincoln signed the OK for it.

Wonder why Spitzer gets slammed all over the place..
Can anyone say… “Marilyn Monroe”?
I have a question.
Alisyn and ladies of the blog, who is the best (and sexiest) Bond?
Alisyn, thank you for dressing in your red leather skirt today !
A good choice since your talking about the Bond movie today, this way you will still look more attractive than any clips showing the Bond Bimbos.
Picking McCain would only serve to highlight P-E Obama’s inexperience in foreign affairs and military affairs.
I don’t think he’s that foolish. That’s why he took Biden as VP.
chas
Thanks for the reminder, Chas, that during times of crisis, most people in this country have turned to God for guidance. I pray that our new President will do the same.
If he picks Clinton hes got Governor David Paterson (D-NY to replace the seat, so its a dem either way.
I just can’t see McCain in an Obama administration because the only place McCain has extraordinary expertise and knowledge is in defense, and that is the only place where he and Obama vastly disagree.
I think one of the bloggers on here is correct, I can see Romney before I can see Mccain.
Looking for a new “mini-van”? Please check out the new, edgy Ford Flex. It offers comfort, leading technology (sync), and cutting edge styling and good gas mileage. Please take the time to be an educated consumer by checking out this great vehicle, you won’t regret it.
Biden doesnt know the first thing about military affairs, and he got all the questions wrong on forien affairs and the VP and Senate.
I pledge alligiance to Alisyns skirt, which is red and sexy and keen. And to her figure whenever she stands, one babe, irresistable, with Liberty and Justice for all.
Bullcrap, McCain could be Advisor for National Security,
I think one of Bill’s boys will get the nod before Romney would. Mitt is still young enough to make another run at the WH. No way he’d put that in danger by being in Obama’s administration.

ANS doesnt make any plans for milatary actions
That has me intrigued now Chas. I will have to look into that more. Thank you.
I see where you are a study of the constitution and how it relates to the republican party. What is your opinion as it pertains to our founding fathers wanting a separation of church and state, have you written an article on that subject anywhere?
Dover, I didn’t say he knew anything about it, I said that is why he was picked. There is a difference.
chas
so much for the status quo, this is the third comming of the Clinton Admin
I’m sure Hillary’s acceptance of Sec of State is condtional upon Biden keeping his nose OUT of foreign affairs. Like she needs help from the Gaffe Master.
That doesnt make sence chas, or maybe its me im not getting it. It wouldnt be the first time
The Constitution doesn’t exactly provide for separation of church and state; it prohibits the state from establishing religion. There is a vast difference that, in my opinion, has been misinterpreted by the courts in recent years.
Doesn’t it seem odd that Obama is picking Clinton’s associations? He obviously doesn’t have any associations that would be good for his cabinet, you know, like Rev. Wright, Resko, Wm Ayers, and let’s not forget his vast family ties with people in Kenya that is in the government.
It is becoming increasingly obvious that Obama has bit off more than he can chew. If he has to resort to people in the Clinton administration, I think we are in trouble.
Actually I haven’t. But I can tell you where that concern came from.
There is no actual separation clause in the Constitution. This came from a private letter of Jefferson, one line from a 4 page letter, if memory serves, and it focused on the pulpit making sermons about elections.
All the Constitution says is the Government can’t make one belief the Nations faith.
Much of that came because of the control the Anglican Church had over the Government in Va. The State was forcing individuals to pay taxes that went to support the church, even if you did not attend that church.
That’s the short version anyway. It makes for very interesting reading.
chas
Paige06 your not kidding, Ive been yelling that for a long time, your soooooooooo rite.
I was just asking Liz because it seems to me all of these “under God” phrases were not written in the times of the founding fathers, and only added at a later time. Every time they come under question I wish I could use a time machine and go back to ask our founding fathers their opinions! hahah
Morning Alisyn,
Its been a great week, seeing you fill in for Gretchen now our weekend fix of your beauty is great! Personally I love your quick wit when busting on Dave and Clayton.
As far as the Pledge goes why do we always cater to those who are against American tradition.
Lets all hope they can get those wildfires under control.
Could someone tell Spitzer crall back under his rock, he embarrased us up here in Albany and even his family worse.
Sure is cold, glad to see you broke your leather skirt out Alisyn!

Alisyn…there is only one James Bond….Sean Connery…and the best Bond girl was Ursala UNDRESS!
Justaworker, wouldn’t we all like to ask their opinions. What an interesting conversation that would be!
Dover, I believe you get it. Biden doesn’t know anything about it, but he was presented as an expert on it. The press never challenged the notion.
Ms. Liz, actually the Constitution prevents the Federal Government from establishing a national faith, it says nothing about a state doing so. In fact until into the WWII era MD was a officially Catholic State. Although MD was the first state to proclaim the freedom of religion act, prior to the Revolution.

Hi Alisyn,
If Chuck Hagel is considered a Republican it will surprise conservatives and rile us up even more.
How about Secretary of “Back Stabbing”??
Paul Boettcher–Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
That sounds like a good winter project to explore.
Time for Mass. See everyone next week.
Thank you Alisyn for allowing us this forum to discuss current events.
Unfortunately I missed the “safe haven” law in Nebraska segment. Did these parents drop off these children because they couldn’t handle them or because they just didn’t want them?
morning Chas, Liz, Paige!
You can get a pretty good idea of what they thought but it sure does take a lot of reading. I’ve been doing it for almost 30 years and can’t get past the war of 1812.
Right now I’m working of a 22 set of books that contain the writings of Thomas Jefferson, both personal and professional.
chas
Morning Jimmy
Yeah, Paige. I think he has to resort to choosing old Clinton staffers because he’s too new, untested and inexperienced. It is odd that the ‘change everyone was looking for’ is looking more and more like an adminstration from 12 years ago, isn’t it? I suppose we should be at least a bit relieved he recognizes that this country can’t afford a cabinet as wet behind the ears as himself, the Pres-Elect.
Looking for a mini-van? Check out the Ford Flex or Edge. You will like them better than a typical mini-van that is boring.
Good point, Chas. I had forgotten that. I suspect that the founding fathers would have for the most part been appalled by the way the federal government has over-reached, especially in recent decades, i.e. schools.

Great point. Mind if I repeat it for on-air use?
Please do Ms. Alisyn. You may use anything anytime I write.

That is a noble passion Chas. It reminds me of people who have a passion for bible study and enjoy espousing their opinions on “what they were thinking” ! hahaha It always an interesting conversation with just as many opinions as people present. Now I am really gone
good morning,
when i was in school(many moons ago), every morning we stood with our hand over our hearts and said the pledge of allegiance, and followed that up with singing My Country Tis of Thee. the kids that had religious, or whatever beliefs that didn’t participate still stood there quietly. my feeling is if ya don’t like it or disagree, don’t let the door hit ya on the way out. all it is is showing a little respect to the flag and country. even though obama would probably never appoint him, i think mccain would be an excellent choice for sec. of defense. i don’t know how i feel on the nebraska dump your kids off law, i have three kids and couldn’t even imagine dumping them off, especially when they are a teen-ager. bond girls, i like them all. they all have there uniqueness. have a great day all. steve
I think that is a pretty safe bet Ms. Liz.
What I find strange is all the Lincoln/Obama comparison with the cabinet positions.
I think people forget how close to a tyrant Lincoln was. He is overpraised when he actually did things that would have gotten him impeached in Jefferson’s time.
He did away with Habeas Corpus, Attacked States for wanting to leave the Union, (which there is nothing in the Constitution preventing them from doing so), and the list goes on.
chas
Wow! kinda hard to compare the Orwell bank to AIG I would think..
If you have to answer a questionnaire with all those ??? about personal things in an “O” regime, I guess we won’t be seeing a certain former president who took some “liberties” with the Oval office? Or, because he didn’t “pay” for it, is that a “personal” matter we the people don’t need to “concern ourselves” with?? Will the questionnaire ask any ??? about past affiliations and questionable ethics of friends? Would the president elect himself be able to answer this form honestly?
Here are the top five Bond girls…
5. Jane Seymour in “Live and Let Die”
4. Britt Ekland in “The Man With the Golden Gun”
3. Barbara Bach in “The Spy Who Loved Me”
2. Carole Bouquet in “For Your Eyes Only”
1. Maryam Dabo in “The Living Daylights”
My husband made a great comment about the Obama questionnaire regarding the question about anyone in the family accepting money from a foreign country. His comment was, maybe the answer Obama is looking for is “yes” …..something to think about?
Could be Liz since it seems he accepted some his self.
chas
I find it funny, Obama needs to fill out his own questionaire. He wouldn’t get hired, would he? All you have to do it read his two books.
I used to tend bar in Ohio. We used to have a similar law where the bartender (at his discretion)
could serve the parents of a minor child and then it would be up to the parent to give it to the youngster.
The law was pretty much unknown and we didn’t have a lot of people try to push it.
I don’t know if the law is still on the books or not but if I had to guess,,,,,,,,, I’d say probably.
Ali,
As for a Republican in the Cabinet, anyone would be better than the Clinton Retreads.
As for the T.O. piece, now we know what our Ali was like as a giddy high school sweetheart! Looked like you had a lot of fun with the piece. How long did it take to dry up your drool from the floor.

Re: “Will the questionnaire ask any ??? about past affiliations and questionable ethics of friends? Would the president elect himself be able to answer this form honestly?”
Had McCain won, these same questions could apply…
Chas,
thanks for the referral yesterday to the T.O. piece in the video archive.
The fires in California are just awful! Losing their homes, I can’t even imagine what they are going through. With the economy the way it is, these people will really be hurting. Please pray for them.
Wow those abs……. lord have mercy…….. It almost is enough to make a Dallas fan! ALMOST! LOL LOL
Good morning all
The Nebraska Law is typical legislative incompetence. Since a good deal of the legislators have legal backgrounds you would think they could work through an unintended consequence analysis. Screw ups like this result in not thinking through and/or anticipating how this law is going to work.
Morning All, I support saying the pledge everyday, and to those who don’t want to stand quietly no one will ever notice….That’s what wrong with our country, the young peolpe are being taught by the liberal left who are a group of wimps!!! Hope to see you again tomorrow Alisyn….
My pleasure Frank. The honor is in the service, as the Vulcans say.
chas
It doesn’t matter who O chooses for his cabinet. “The fish stinks from the head” is a saying that will surely apply.
I think Mr “O” president elect should but Gov. Palin on his cabinet and the US DOE Secretary!
I would be pleased with the choice of Hagel. That would get him out of the Senate, and then a real Republican could replace him.
Return policy on a teenager? Sounds too good to be true. I survived my two teenagers and now–deep down—I’m very attached to them. My third teen has reaffirmed what I learned with the first two–getting a grounds keeper, maid, a part time cook, mechanic, and a tv remote control is equally as uncertain and much more expensive. By the time the teen reaches that age they can work longer and harder if properly trained. I shudder to think how a two year old would vacuum my rug.
My advice is to hang on to them with a little love.
That was a very TOUCHING segment with Terrell Owens.
when does the campaining start
is it going to be another 2 year season again?
People who have abandoned their children in Nebraska are mainly single parents, who because they are single, cannot get the help their children need. This is a desperate plea for help. The religious people of this good state just kick their kids out, change the locks and leave them to walk the streets and seek shelter where ever they can find it. There are many sides to this issue and I pray that a bright light is shown on all sides of this situation. It involves underage drinking, yes even in the parents’ home, in front of police who have been called to intervene when teenagers, under the influence, engage in rude, angry outbursts against their parents. They are not arrested, just talked to as they would a friend, thus the parent really has no reinforcement of their rules. There is the belief that single parents bring this on themselves and thus, get what they deserve. Not too many people I know ask to become a single parent, it is usually because one or the other or both parents refuse to accept responsibility for raising a child which for the most part extends past their teenage years.
Hi All,
I taught my daughters the Pledge when they were 3 years old. I am now teaching my 2 year old grandson to say the pledge. For those in class who don’t want to say it, stand quietly and say nothing. As for Eric DiBartolo, I think what he did was great. By the way, he is married but has no children. He has a dog and a wife. The reason Eric was offered the 25,000 raise is because he saved the town lots of money. And I know this because I live in Yorktown where Eric is the Highway saupervisor.
Let’s take a vote – How about getting everybody out of the Congress permanently and replacing them with ordinary folks that have common sense and know how to balance a budget? Let’s start at the top with the President Elect and work our way down, you know the trickle down effect.
A Republican for Obama’s cabinet, how about Elizabeth Dole?
She lost her senate seat so she is available. She has experience as a cabinet sec., having served as Sec of Transportation and Sec of Labor. She is a moderate, so it would not be a huge stretch.
Also as a former Senator she would cruise thru the confirmation hearings.
I think some of these teens should drop their parents off ..
what stae is hagel out of?
Nebraska, Dover
Nwbraska parents you are interviewing are self-centered idiots. They had these children and as such are responsible. If they were not so self-consumed they would have been better parents. It is NO ACT OF LOVE, it is an act of self-centered me, me, me attitude. I say SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on these breeders who should have been neutered.
Funny enough, Hegel is out of Nebraska.
chas
These people who dump their kids off in NE should be dumped off into a mental institution themselves. To take a troubled teen they have have decided is too much trouble for them, and dump them on the state is reprehensible.
Weak, selfish and lazy parents like these can call it an “act of love” all they want, but they know the truth.
I raised 2 very difficult teenagers and never thought it was anyone’s responsibility but my own to take care of them.
Save Haven has provided a place where parents can take their children. It has to be obvious that if a parent drops their child off, that something is NOT right! I would MUCH rather this happen no matter what the age of the child then for the parent to “break” and the child ends up dead.
My heart goes out to Connie who spoke on your show. She has some great points. This country is putting “red tape” before the health and welfare of our kids!
We just did the Ms. Paige. The same ole same ole was pretty much put back in place.
chas
Pledge of Allegiance:
I think they have it Backwards….Why not ask who does NOT want to recite the Pledge and have THEM go to the gym, so the rest can recite the Pledge in the classroom.
I would expect quite a different result.

In response to Mare,
Yes there ARE some lazy parents out there. But some do not have the strength you have and have a lower breaking point.
Each case should be judged individually.
The point is that help is not being given when it is needed. And there is nothing wrong with people helping people. The strong are suppose to help the weak. That is what being “humane” is all about.
Same thing I asked earlier Mr. Long. Glad to know I’m not alone in that thinking.
chas
Hagel is a Republican? He’s a sell-out – just ask anyone in Nebraska. Also, this country doesn’t have adequate help for our troubled teens — just look at who’s been dropped off here in Omaha!

Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Hillary, Frank, Dodd, Schumer, Waxman, Kerry, Gore—-what a group; man do I safe and secure and comfortable about my future in America. Are we nuts in this country or what.
the country never told u to have children. why is it americans think the govt. owes them everything. as parents take responsibility for your actions. as parents you created this problem, stop running from them and accept and do your part as a parent.
Hi…I am a longtime viewer of Fox and Friends Sunday Morning and would like to know what was wrong with the kids that were given up by their parents…I am a parent and a grandparent and cant think of anything thatwould make me give up my children…Again…What was wrong with the kids…Please respond to my email…Jeff B
What are the conditions surrounding the children that are “dropped off”? Is it drug use or physical abnormalities? Please clarify this.
Let Obama take Hagel, then Governor David Heineman (R-NE would appoint a good conseritive
well, I guess I missed the pledge part. I take it someone is raising a fuss? why?
As a Jehovah’s Witness, I have no problem with anyone saying the pledge. We don’t say it since we have already pledged our loyalty to God and His Son. We simply sit or stand quietly as it is repeated.
We fully realize that many believe that their loyalty can support both “God and country”. We remain neutral.
Chas, I am thinking term limits, so Congress can’t make a career out of being “for the people” because they are clearly NOT for us. We elect a new President every four years, right? Thank God we can elect new representatives and senators in just two, and another new President in four.
Hagel has one of the most conservative voting records in the senate.
Urine into Drinking water is not a new idea.
Your septic system is your neighbors drinking water.
Think of like this your septic system liquids leach into the ground water which is filtered through rocks and stones and then becomes your neighbors drinking water.
I believe Denver, CO has a public water system design that’s similar.
Save Haven – needs an age limit.

I am a first and second grade teacher in Vt. I have been teaching for 13 years and have begun each and everyday in my classroom with the pledge. Over the years I have had students who have chosen not to recite the pledge. Although I ask everyone to stand I have never made any child feel singled out for not reciting it. My students do not notice who is and who isn’t saying it on a given day. I love this country and I love teaching and I believe saying the pledge together unites us.
Wow, the Dr. really pointed out the ignorance of the system. That is exactly what these Mothers are up against. Let’s blame the parents and the home environment “first” then let’s look at the system. Way to go Doc. I wish the Moms all the luck and hopefully soon the support will be available for these kids. H. Palazzo
Back in the day when I was in elementary school children that were of the Jehovah’s Witness belief had to leave the room when we sang certain songs or said the pledge. I always felt bad for those children, it didn’t seem right to me. As an adult my heart still sinks to think any child would be “sent away” because their beliefs were different from the majority’s or authority’s.
Hagel is not considered a Republican in Nebraska. The reason he did not run again, is that he knew he would lose. Also, the reason he did not endorse McCain or Obama, is that he wanted to make sure he could plug in to which ever candidate won. For the most part, he is no longer appreciated in Nebraska. We have a term we use for those who want a free ride…
I know what you meant Ms. Paige, I was making a joke.
But do you truly expect these lifetime politicians vote to make them unemployed? I think not and it won’t ever no matter how much we scream for it. Even the GOP, remember the Contract with America? One of the items was a voluntary term limits. It was followed by a few for a couple of years but soon was ignored.
chas
I have to laugh; Spitzer is bound from being “hired” due to seeing a “call girl” yet No ONE seems to remember that Clinton bonked an INTERN in the Oval Office????????
Geeze people!
Bonked? I’d never heard that he hit her over the head.
Good morning Alisyn, I see Im not the first to vote YOU a Bond girl! Your smart, you work out now, so I bet you would have no problem keeping up with Mr. Bond! You get my vote, and Im so glad to be talking about this, instead of the Election! So glad all that is over.
Best James Bond: Sean Connery! with Pierce Bronson second.
ok…one more time….Sean Connery is the only Bond….and Ursala UNDRESS is ther top Bond girl!!!
Welcome the troops home….
I didn’t vote for BO but the one promise I hope he keeps is bringing our troops home.
Thanks in advance,
Beware Barney bites Dem’s
Alisyn – We love you dearly, but please, enough of the Obama dog stories! We’re sure Barney doesn’t care either!
Your guest psy does not know what he is talking about. We have a mentally ill teenager that is under a psychiatrist’s care and a cognitive behavioral therapist’s care. He has been institutionalized. He is on all kinds of meds.
Know what advice we have been given b/c we cannot afford the $5500/MONTH schools that specialize in helping kids with mental illness???? (investigate the costs of therapeutic boarding schools)
Give up custody to the state and they will cover the cost!!
When you have drs telling you to give up custody b/c they know that the services you need DO NOT EXIST for the average family, it is hard not to lose hope that you will be able to provide for your child.
Our other option is to have him arrested, put under a parole officer’s supervision and see if we can get a court ordered enrollment. (every family’s dream for their child)
You need a different guest.
Karen,
Thank you so much for your personal story. THat sheds important light on this desperate situation.
Ms. Jo-Anne,
A sensible approach and one that should be policy in all schools for all ages.
chas
Alisyn,
I just watched your bit on the safe haven law in Nebraska and the two mothers that were interviewed. I am appalled that you let them off. There was no explanation about what so called crisis these mothers experienced with their 13 and 9 year old daughters. What is wrong with our society and cultural that women can feel completely justified in giving up on their children. Their idea and sense of reality is distorted. When is it ever good to relinquish your rights as a parent? What has happened to someone when they feel like “the system” can provide what a child needs? I understand that Mental Health issues are real and prevalent but doesn’t anyone realize that abandonment by your parent is far more detrimental than any medical or mental condition. Pray for our country and for these families who feel justified for abandoning their children.
Are we really going to let parents who are stressed out and feeling at the end of their rope leave their children. Why is everyone expecting the government to meet their needs? This is an example of the entitlement mentality.
I am disappointed that your “fair and balanced” reporting didn’t probe these women more thoroughly. We all wanted to know what in the world they were thinking! You cannot explain any situation that would justify abandoning your child. I would rather see mothers pleading for help than for them to smugly sit in front of the camera and explain why they will not apologize for abandoning their child. Shame on you for sympathizing with their actions. When someone sympathizes with actions like these they are participating in the problem. This is the problem with politics, with the decline in our culture and even the economic struggles we are facing not to mention the slanted media. When will we stop trying to hurt people’s feelings and stand up for what is right? Come on, we a re talking about abandoning a child.
I think they both mentioned that their children had mental health issues that they as parents weren’t equipped to deal with. Though they tried for years to get help, they said insurance and doctors denied them. As they said, until you’ve walked in their shoes, you probably can’t imagine the desperation.
Mary Vinzant – Good for Nebraska! There’s a state in the union that actually thinks before they keep re-electing people to congress/senate, unlike the Pelosi state, Reid state, Frank state, Dodd state, etc. No wonder our congress/senate sits on the A$$ most of the time…..I’m moving to Nebraska!!
The law that our Nebraska Legislatures passed in Nebraska regarding the Safe Haven Law, says a lot about the intelligence & common sense of our Legislators. We as Nebraskans are embarrassed.
This little girl and her t-shirts is the story that gets to me the most. These are the type of people who voted for Obama. The same people who want to silence conservative voices with the Fairness Doctrine. This type of thinking is what made an Obama election so scary for so many Americans. We have a president -elect who already has his own newspaper, The NY Times, his own news media outlets, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, AP, Reuters, etc. Like Joe the plumber said…sounds like socialism to me.
Good morning all. Alisyn, don’t worry about the spam!! Unless it changed since the 60s-70s, it’s ok. As we were growing up in Minnesota, sometimes having bread and gravy for our dinner,we had spam sandwiches. Fry up a slice and add a slice of tomato on bread. Maybe we’ll all be eating it again!!! Have to admit, my kids never ate it, because I think in 25 years of marriage and kids I’ve only probably bought Spam once!! Have a great day……stay warm everyone!! K
Spam, etc. have long shelf lives. People could be stocking up rather than looking to save money.
i only like spam if it is fried
Take the Spam and heat it. Then place a slice of Mozzarella cheese on it. Coner it with a nice jar of Ragu’. Place in the oven until hot.
You’d never know it was spam.
chas
I prefer eating food that you don’t have to disguise
Oh, except the law in Nebraska regarding dropping your kids off is ridiculous. But I’m glad that Nebraska wouldn’t re-elect Hagel back to Washington. The Pelosi state (California), Frank state (New York) Dodd state (not sure – some stupid new england state), etc., keep electing the same old has beens that do absolutely NOTHING to better our country, in fact, they are destroying it.
No wonder congress/senate sits on their A$$ and do nothing. They also are the ones that got us into this economic mess we’re in. They sit around and do nothing.
SPAM is not generally meant to be eaten right out of the can cold.
If you prepare it correctly, or use it as an ingredient in a dish it can be good.
Perhaps a professional cook or a rep from Hormel should be invited to the show next weekend to give SPAM a ‘fair and balanced’ review after the drubbing it took this morning from Dave, Clayton and Tracy.
“It can be good” is not a ringing endorsement.
Check out Spam sales in Hawaii. They actually have warehouses full of Spam as it actually a favorite in the islands. Many restaurants even have it on the menu.
How many times did the word “system”get used in this report?? I don’t think that the system should have the control of raising the childern, the parents need to be free to raise, including dicipline,( not abuse) their children to whatever degree is needed.
Oh if only our adults were as wise as Catherine, the 14 year old! Kudos to her for having the guts to show what people are really like.
RE:
After reading Katherine Lee’s comment, I would like to share that we have several other children that are not mentally ill.
Until you have a child that abuses you, scares siblings, punches holes in walls, kicks holes in doors, has no control over their behavior, you don’t know how desperate it can be to want to help your child but need to protect your other children.
I love Fox News but you guys are sounding so snobby about the Spam. I agree that, from the can, it is rather unappealing but if you pan fry it until it is crisp it is much better. Also, Hawaii cooks with Spam in all kinds of ways. There it is considered a big part of their diets – even in restaurants – so this makes you guys look rather judgmental.
We’re entitled to have food preferences without being called snobs. Is peanut butter high class? It’s a favorite.
Steve Ducey interviewed the 8th grader last Friday. His interview flowed, the little girl was able to present her experiement and point perfectly. This interview with the 8th grader? Sorry, but could have been better.
Your recollection is a tad off Colorado. I remember the interview well, since I was the person interviewing the 8th grader with Steve.
SPAM…..what a bunch of snobs you folks are. It’s actually quite tasty. I’ll fry up a can a couple of times of year….it tastes like a mildly spicy sausage that way. By the way….it’s not done because of the economy….I’m a 6 figure engineer joyously buying stock as all the sushi eating suit and tie set are taking a bath.
You’re eating Spam voluntarily?
WEll, and there we have it, the gospel according to Katherine Lee, a compassionate Christian no doubt.
Hi Alysin,
This is the only way I knew how to contact your Saturday show. We were just watching the segment about Spam and Velvetta, etc. The two young jerks that you are on with should have to go through lean times as a lot of us did growing up. Talk about an elitist attitude!!!! I am 70 years old and their attitude offended me and I am sure it offended a lot of other people. I know for myself I was darn glad to have Spam when I was young. Fox ought to send these kids to some sort of potty traing school, or better than that take them off the air.
Alysin, you shoudn’t lower yourself to associate with these kind of jerks.
Thanks for letting me vent.
Feel free to vent your spam (I mean spleen) Gary. But we’ve all been broke too. Our solution? Pizza.
Come on folks
ya’ll are food snobs…Spam is good. Fry it up…as a matter of fact, I had it for dinner last night with mash potatos and salad.
I grew up eating spam. One of my favorite dishes is macaroni, mixed with tomato paste/sauce and diced spam.
I don’t eat a lot of Spam but I always keep a can around when I get the craving.
Love the show. Alisyn, I think you are great, even if you don’t like Spam.
Thanks for overlooking my Spam revulsion!
Anne, just to clarify. I doubt that the children were “sent” out. Non-participation is something that is requested by the parents. It is the parents who decide whether or not the children remain. By saying they were sent, you seemed to think it was a school decision.
Ali,
You should try Spam….It is great comfort food….
You would be the #1 Bond Girl…..
We had spam on my Mom’s card club night. it was the only thing dad knew how to cook! I have to admit I didn’t look forward to card club night! LOL
I don’t blame you.
In my school back in the day Liz, they were sent out. One of the families who had children that were sent out were our next door neighbors and it upset the family greatly but back in the day there was no recourse for these parents. Thankfully, I think that has changed in recent years for the most part, but I fear not in all corners of the country.
LOL…..not only do I enjoy SPAM….I fry it up while wearing blue jeans…..you’re probably against those too!!!
I’d rather eat blue jeans.
I think that law will be changed and pretty soon in NE. Ridiculous. Those women raised those kids. Personal accountability! It should not even have to be mentioned when it comes to your own flesh and blood. About a republican in the cabinet? Where do I begin? There are plenty of RINO’s for Obama to choose from.I just wonder if he will try to enlist a potential rival for 2012. If he does, they better not go.
:
Does your cohort on your left understand that Spam , Macaroni and Cheese
were not UNCOMMON in years past? It was used and may still be put into MRE’s
for our soldiers.?….some folks can only afford items such as Spam. He , the guy
on the left of you with the BROW, is awfully arrogant and condesending….where
is he from? the KING’S CASTLE. When he comes on, I usually mute the TV ugh.
I have watched you since you were in Dallas.
If you are interested I have a 1000 and one ways for Spam and mac and cheese….
and I can afford tenderloin…so there.

Alisyn,
I was watching the show this morning about families in crisis. I have a 20yr old daughter who is in her fifth rehab right now. I know what these mothers are talking about. Maybe if I had the courage to do what they did my daughter wouldn’t be in her fifth rehab right now. I had good health coverage and I started taking her for help at 10. To make a very long and ugly story short. She was institutionalized more than once and she would play the game and be released with medication. This went on and on. If the child doesn’t want help or think they need it they don’t take anything away from the treatment. All the medication in the world isn’t going to help. They have to recognize the problem and use what the psycologists tell them to get better. She didn’t take her medications like she was suppose to. I could monitor it when she was younger to a point but I found out she would not really take it. When she got older I didn’t feel that I should have to stand there and watch her take her meds. The meds had there own side affects also. Suicide etc. The meds were all trial and error.
No one knows how hard it is to have a defiant self destructive child. I tried everything available to me. What these women did probably went against every motherly instinct. I know I have lived it. What they describe and what I describe is probably about 10 times worse then anything you can imagine. If I didn’t have a child like this I would think it was the parents fault. I lived it, I did everything I could. It also has effected other family members. I also have a wonderful son who is 22 and a loving and supportive husband. They are also suffering effects caused by her behavior. Our only option was to make her leave our home before our whole family fell apart. I am in therapy now to help me detach and deal with “abandoning” my daughter which my therapist says I have not. I was enabling her to abuse herself and therefore ruin her life.
She found using illegal drugs to self medicate helped her. It got even uglier.
So maybe if I had dropped her off at one of those hospitals like those mothers did in Nebraska she wouldn’t be homeless and in her fifty rehab now.
Good morning, I watched the interview with the two mothers who dropped off their chrildren at this Safehaven ,As i listened to them (noticed they were in a law office) tell their side of why, None of them would give you a honest answer when you asked what was the problem with them,
However when that one mother stated Doctors and instutions, that tells me they were special needs kids, they say how dare you , I say how dare them!!!
Im a parent of a special needs child, and it has not been easy for me as well, my wife as also been in and out of hospitals, but i could never do that for my child, Dont tell me about no Help, there are many groups with plenty of info,
and support,
I love the show and couldn’t live without it but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I’ve got to admit,,,,,,,,,,,, that was a terrible attitude against spam.
The boys should learn that not everyone in the country went to college, got a really nice job and could afford Iranian caviar (oops, just thought I’d throw that one in). You get the point. Some people were forced into Spam and other foods. Shouldn’t be so judgemental on the air.
You should be ashamed for knocking spam, their are meney food’s that stink and are gross, raw fish ‘ liver, caver, beer just to name a few. My mouther in law fed her children spam and If you were at her house you would have eating it and though it good. her husband was a carpenter , who went to work every day, they never took help from any one. but to live in their means. food’s like spam and baloney were often served. I have never sent any thing to someone like you before BUT what you did this morning was uncalled for. because their are people all over this country feeding spam to their kid’s and if t house kid’s saw your show they will have a hard time getting their kid’s to eat. and for what A grope of three over paid fools turn up their nose at a wholesome food . Thank you for letting me vent my anger but what you did this morning was just DUMD.
Shame on you elitist New Yorkers for ripping on Spam the way you did. I grew up with it–always have a can in the cupboard for a meal if we run out of everything else. Stir fry it with peppers and onions over rice or pasta, e.g. Once in a while as a special treat: grilled sandwiches made with Spam and Velveeta. yum jb
A few thoughts…
Number 1: I think you, Alyson, would make an excellent Bond Girl; you’re the only reason I watch the show…
Number 2: I think your whole Spam thing was really insensitive. In Hawaii, it’s a delicacy! Maybe some viewers wouldn’t want their Spam and eggs compared to dog food. Some food for thought (pun intended).
Number 3: That was a killer story about the little girl with the two t-shirts. Just goes to show ya…
Number 4: I think that the Pledge should be said, and if they don’t want to hear it–or let their kids hear or say it–go to Canada or something…God bless America! (And did anybody ask the kids?)
Number 5: Did I mention the only reason I watch is because Alyson is so HOT? Your Husband is a lucky man, my dear. Also, yours is the only opinion worth listening to, usually.
Thanks to all for an entertaining Sunday morning!

Does anyone have the courage to bring up the idea of chastisement? Are those who enjoy their “anything goes lifestyle” being given a sneak peek at Hell?
Things that make you go “Hmmmm.”
God bless you all.
Alisyn, I was impressed your workout with Terrell Owens. However, when the interview was over and you gave him a “Fox” jacket, I was bothered. Do you know how many of us cannot afford one of those yet you gave a “millionaire” another jacket. He has more clothes than Macy’s, why does he need another jacket. I work in the cold every day and would love to have one of those, Large, sent to me if you are in the giving mood.
Enjoy watching you every time you are on, matter of fact, you and Gretchen are the only reasons I watch Fox and Friends in the mornings, there is nothing false about you two. Good luck with your career and I look forward to you asking for my mailing address to send me one of those red Fox jackets.
Keep up the GREAT WORK.
John
I grew up on Spam. Nice recipe Jim.
I think spam makes a pretty good sandwich at times. What is a spam? Does it walk, fly or swim?
Alisyn, did I miss the websites you were going to link to help feed your family for less? Love ya!
Alysin,
We love spam, and it makes a lovely little “ham” when dressed up with a lovely bit of sweet sauce over the top of, and scored w/cherries on top. Just lovely really, and good too. Adds a little elegance to the meal, I think, and very pleasing to the eye, a necessity when setting a nice table, for sure. lol
We can be a funny lot. Markets are in the tank. Stocks taking daily nosedives. Inexperienced guy about to take control of the White House. Congress tossing our money around like Fanny Mae.
Problems all over the globe and here we are trying to argue about Spam….lol
It’s like most other things in life. You either like or you don’t. There is no right or wrong about it. Bottom line is, hungry enough, everyone would eat it.
Enjoy the weekend everyone.

When the end comes it would be a good idea to have a bunch of spam in your bunker along with your ammo and bottled water.
Any time people can seriously vote for someone like Al Franken, the end has to be near!
When the people can elect someone like P-E Obama with no experience and not even be concerned that no vetting takes place by the media, we may be even closer than you think joe.

Gini-
Talk about putting lipstick on a pig! LOL
Would like information on the coupon/grocery programs you spoke about this am?
I would like to comment on your segment on Spam!!!This morning we watched Fox and Friends, which we do most mornings. I was so excited that they were going to have a segment about Spam, Velveeta and Jell-O. To my horror and surprise they trashed those products and denigrated everyone who uses them. They actually said, “YEW it smells like dog food”. I was so ashamed of them. How arrogant!!!!.
Again we see the arrogance of the northeast media. Do they have any idea of how regular folks in this country live. We have eaten Spam and Velveeta our whole lives. There is nothing better than fried eggs, spam and potato’s for breakfast, or for dinner. They have had nothing in their life’s that they have had to struggle to survive, as people did during the depression thru the seventies. They have lived in a sheltered bubble their whole lives. .
There is nothing shameful about eating Spam, Velveeta or Jell-O. It maybe that the news anchors need to visit middle America, to learn what life in America is really like, and not life according to the east coast and west coast arrogant media. It is high time that news outlets find people with some life experiences to put on the air.
As a member of a board of directors for a non-profit agency that serves mentally ill children and their families, I thought your doctor commentator painted a rosier picture of “other options” than taking advantage of Newbraska’s Safe Haven. State funded mental health programs are often the first to have their budgets cut when economic times are tough. Our agency has already had one cut and has been told to expect another. “Respite” care”? We have it but the state doesn’t believe it deserves priority funding although local agencies tell us that it’s one of the best programs we offer. Foster care? It takes considerable time to recruit and train foster parents and find a good match between client and family. We also need appropriate referrals for placement –some of the kids we are asked to accept need a much higher level of care than we can offer. One in four children are diagnosed with a mental illness and the number is rising.
I completely understand these parents frustration and despair. We were sitting in an emergency room at 2 a.m. trying to convince our insurance company to admit our son for a 24 hour evaluation to a psychiatric unit which they denied. It turned out to be the begining of a 2 year journey to restore him and our family to a better life. We were lucky that he eventually got the level of help that he did. This was 12 years ago and we would not be able to get now what we did then. At one point, we considered the possibilty that we might have to give the state custody in order to be certain he got the help he needed. We did not have to take that route in the end. Comments were made about dropping off 16 and 17 year olds and I understand that too. Once they turn 18 they are considered adults and your power to get help for them through a state agency is gone nor could you force them to be admitted to a psychiatric unit.
This is a crisis for all of us, not just those families.

We’re entitled to have food preferences without being called snobs. Is peanut butter high
Again I say how arrogant of you!!!!!
I recently observed a different focus of the negativity than the Obama/McCain girl that was on this morning.
When looking at the election through the eyes of a child (I’m talking 10 and 11 years old here), I was appalled at the response of the students at our local middle school (500 students).
Our students have been learning about political parties, running mates, and the electoral college. Our social studies teachers led discussions and spoke positively about both candidates.
In our mock election, Barak Obama won. It was quite interesting that he won by a margin that was very close to his margin of victory in the national election. We have about 500 students in our 5th and 6th grade school.
I am saddened by the response of our McCain supporting students to the Obama supporting students. I had a number of students come to me because they were frightened by the statements that were made about Obama. They were hurt by the names they personally were called.
They were anxious and frightened by the number of times they heard, “assasinate Obama”.
These are 10 and 11 year old students! Parents, no matter who you supported in this election, you owe it to your children to be respectful of each candidate. Think about what you are saying around your children.
Yes, stand up for what you believe, but at the same time, TEACH ABOUT TOLERANCE.
Was listening to your interview with those two women who gave up their kids to that Safe-Haven
law, When you asked them what their kids problems were! None of them gave you a direct answer!
when they talked about Doctors and Instutions, That tells me they were special needs ,
They said how dare people judge them, If their kids were special needs, HOW DARE THEM, AS A parent of a Special needs child I know what the stress and expense is added, my wife has had off and on medical problems as well , im working class, Technician in New car Delership, dont tell me of not
having any help, By the way they stated where they lived had no support, Thats bull, Im walking in their shoes, but im not giving up on my son, (seven years old, severly Autistic)
You can call or go online and find nearest community support,
Lynda,
Beautifully explained, and absolutely true! Good to hear the “other side” after the naive approach taken this morning. I did post a comment that would agree with yours, but I don’t see it yet. Probably lost in cyber space? My whimsical comment on spam, however, posted right now! Go figure…lol
Colts safety Bob Sanders, last season’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year, was inactive for Sunday’s game against Houston.
Sanders missed Wednesday’s practice, taking a regular rest day, then participated in Thursday’s workouts. But after hurting his knee, Sanders sat out again Friday. The Colts have neither disclosed which knee Sanders injured nor how extensive the injury may be.
Earlier this season, Sanders missed five games with knee and ankle injuries before returning for the Colts’ last two games, victories over New England and Pittsburgh.
Hi Barbara Mohr,
Alisyn is not allowed to have food preferences? Aly doesn’t care for spam, and nor do i. It’s just a fact of life, for crying out loud. I also hate liver to death (I wouldn’t eat it for anything) But that doesn’t mean i’m heartless..But in your world, i suppose that WOULD make me heartless.
Please get your priorities straight! And understand that we all live on the same planet w/different tastes. If you like spam so much then all the power to you..But you shouldn’t go pushing it on others, is all i’m trying to say.

p.s. fyi, peanut butter probably has a lot more nutritional value in it than spam ever had, anyway!
During my grade school back in the 70s, we recited the Pledge of Allegiance every morning. I recall one classmate who refused to stand and recite it along with us, and we began giving this guy a little grief about it. The teacher, with her stern voice and pointing finger, very clearly told all of us which way was up and that the “liberty” part of that pledge meant that his right to not recite the pledge along with us was the whole point of why we should feel so strongly about our love of country. Her point was well taken, at least as far as I was concerned.
Instead of doing silly things like separating various factions of students, perhaps the school should consider using the opportunity to teach.
An aside to the above: The boy who refused to recite the Pledge was a black kid who didn’t believe that everyone held the same level of freedom in America. Four years later he was my high school locker partner and one of my best friends. He died in 1983 as a United States Marine in Beirut, Lebanon and will forever remain in my heart as a great American hero.

ObaMao will have a wild ride for two years. Then we will impeach him.
That “impeachment” remark isn’t funny, Ron. I don’t have to agree with his policies in order to wish my president and my nation success.
August,
I have posted two responses to you…but, the 14th floor, apparently doesn’t like it? ~~smiling~~ lol Maybe they will both post later? lol
Hey Ali –
LOVED the segment with you and Terrell Owens — even if the Cowboys destroyed my beloved Redskins last night!
Ali—we’re still waiting for the websites mentioned to feed our families for less. Do you have them ready to post? Thanks!!
Fox News Channel’s special, “Capital Crashers,” was the most-watched two hours on cable news this past weekend. Hosted by Neil Cavuto live from the White House Lawn, the program covered the financial summit of world leaders in Washington and featured an interview with former Prime Minister of Spain, Jose Maria Aznar. The program averaged 1,500,000 Total Viewers during the 10amET hour and 1,380,000 during the 11amET hour.
My father always told me that Spam won World War II. Even though I don’t personally like the taste of it, you certainly have to respect it. I’m sure they were thrilled to have it in those hard times. Knowing what it did for our soldiers, sailors and Marines, I’ll never knock it.
”WAKE UP AMERICA” THE PIDE PIPER IS LEADING US DOWN THE LANE TO SOCALISM. OBAMA THE EMPLOYER AND DEMO’S HAVE US RUNNING SCARED
AND WILL BE ABLE TO SELL US ANYTHING. JUST LOOK INTO THE EYES OF HIS
SUPPORTERS ”AH MI AMOR”
BY NOT SMITTEN EDDIE LEMMON
I hpoe Obama picks the best people that he wants and not worry about some phoney diversity with Republicians. I didn’t vote for him but for those who did and people like me, (a lesser educated bluecollar) deserve who he is and not more “style over substance”.
what happen with share the wealth OPRAH? cutting back are you now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alisyn,
Regarding the automakers “BAILOUT”,no one in the media has given a comparison ratio of management employees to hourly employees for the “big 3″ versus the Japanese,Korean, and European automakers. We already know the “big 3″ executives’ salaries and benefits are way out of reason in comparison to the foreign companies. I would submit that the “big 3″ are way too “top heavy” with white collar employees in relation to their “blue collar” employees”. This is another reason for their failed business strategy. The media needs to stop blaming their failure on the wages of the UAW workers who produce the products that make the companies money. White collar employees produce absolutely nothing that makes money for their companies! As is evidenced by their exorbitant compensation packages, they are “sucking the profits and life” out of their companies. To answer your question,no I am not an autoworker.
What is this nonsense that you guys are cutting back on spending – did you get a cut in pay or are you going to get laid off next month? The folks that can afford it should be spending as much or more than they did last year to help the economy, not cutting back. Oprah should be spending twice as much as she did last year. I have a job and hope to keep it and I plan to spend as much as I did last year. Cutting back by the people that can afford not to is exactly the kind of psychology that will drive us into a depression instead of a recession. Shame on you all!
