Saturday Morning Questions

Morning Everyone — Remember to send in your mortgage, banking and savings questions to our Wall Street expert Pam Krueger.  She’ll answer them on the air.

Also, this morning we have a representative from Acorn on to defend their seemingly dubious voter registration practices.  What do you want to hear from him?

I’ve just had a second to read a few of your comments about our Acorn debate and OOOoooo boy, you’re fired up.  I’ll read the comments when i can and respond after the show.  But until then, here was my initial thinking and motivation with the interview:  we talk to John Fund often, we all know the reports of voter fraud at the hands of ACORN, so let’s hear from an actual ACORN representative and how he defends these actions, we’ve never had an ACORN spokesperson on F&F Weekend and I actually wanted to hear what he had to say.  As far as him interrupting, I did chastise him several times about not doing so but as a general rule we would not cut a guest’s mic for bad manners.

noon update — OK, I’ve had a chance to read more of your comments and it seems as though the consensus is you wanted to hear more from John Fund.  Having had John on almost everyday for the past month, we thought you would want to hear from an actual ACORN rep to attempt to answer some of the questions.  But your wish is our command: we will book John separately from ACORN so that you can hear him uninterrupted.

Sorry I can’t respond to more of your posts — I’m off to Rebecca Gomez’s wedding!  Photos to follow tomorrow.

Ask him about the 800 thousand dollar donation that went to an affiliated group of ACORN from the Obama campaign. That Obama now claims was a “Clerical Mistake.” Imagine that an 800 thousand dollar mistake to the only group presently under Federal investigation for committing voter fraud in all the swing states. Just how stupid does the Obama Campaign and ACORN think the American public is? This is very important since the Democrats tried to fund this organization from the 700 Billion dollar bailout. Want to bet that the Obama campaign will not ask for the 800 thousand back.

Comment by Jimmy C

Could you please ask him why Senator Barack Obama is now claiming , he has never had anything to do with Acorn. Where I come from thats called throwing you under the bus. How many times has Obama had to do that now?

Comment by Jimmy C

Pogger, I think thats the million dollar question, oops excuse me I mean the 800.000 question.

Comment by Jimmy C

Mrs Krueger
I have about 75.000 in my 403 plan, people are telling me to cash out and take the hit, because if I dont I stand to loose it all. Im 45 if that matters, so I wont be retiring for awhile.

A political motivated investigation. No sanctions or criminal charges tells me they did not have a case. Democrats will stoop to anything

This comment by Jenny last nite says it all. Ill bet you all MSN (MLSD) is all over this. But no Acorn news, imagine that.

Alisyn, tell the Dude on your right that the Red Sox won’t make the World Series. If they were to represent the AL, that would mean they and the Phillies would have red in their uniforms. Tampa Bay will win cause they have blue in their uniforms. This will make the AL blue and the NL red (Phillies). This will match the Red vs. Blue of the Presidential Election.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

I see you pick your teams with the same depth of sports knowledge as I.

This may be off topic today but why do I keep hearing reporters call President Bush “Mr. Bush.” Do they have so little respect for the Office of the President of the greatest nation on earth? It doesn’t matter if you like, dislike, agree or disagree with President Bush’s policies or the way he runs this country but people need to show complete respect for the Office.

Comment by Jimmy C

The ignorant person on Alisyns right you sound like you work for CNN, Why dont you talk about the issues instead of she abused her power, why dont you tell them it was a democrat who did the investagation and said it will be a october surprise, and why dont you say anything about the wife of the guy, this all pertains to it, Instead of bashing her.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

All our guests have made those points. Let’s try not to be insulting.

Questionfor Pam :

I want to rent my townhome to a family member so I can purchase a bigger home with a big yard for my newborn son that I will stay in for many years. Since forclosures have driven down home prices is now the time to buy with say an FHA loan, and use my town home as an investment property?

Comment by Jimmy C

Alisyn why dont you put on your Obama shirt, nothing Biased here ,right

Comment by Brandi

Hi Alisyn- Wanted to let you know it is Dave’s birthday today-tell him his family says Happy Birthday!

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Hey Brandi! I wish I’d seen your post while we were on the air (we got too busy!) so that i could have given him your shout out. We did manage to give him our own lame birthday wishes.

Comment by Colleen

I have a 30 year fixed at 5.6 percent. I have paid into this loan for 4 1/2 years. Countrywide continues to contact me to refinance into a FHA government backed loan. Is this a good idea? I have excellent credit and have never been late on any payments

Comment by james fuzzell

Barak + Ayers = Obombya?? This from a decoder wheel in my box of cereal this morning. JK, I feel for McCain though and it would have been the same for any Republican candidate going up against Obama. He’s danged if he does, and danged if he doesn’t.

Comment by Jimmy C

Asked him why Obama denies any doing with Acorn now, and what about the 800.000 the he gave them, and all the money he funneled to Acorn thru ear-marks?

Comment by Evelyn

Why on earth did you allow your guests to get away with statements that indict only white people for letting race “matter” to them when deciding who do vote for. I work with
African Americans who freely admit that they do not care about the issues and that they will vote for Obama because he is black. You didn’t say that they only polled white voters, so why would you allow them to villify white voters without asking if they believed black voters could have stated that yes, race does matter to them.

Comment by judy

How do we know that the people making outrageous comments at McCain rallies are actually supporters and not Obama operatives trying to make McCain look bad?

Comment by James McCormick

Quite disappointed in coverage re troopergate. Your lead was misleading. Legislature did not approve report. They are not in session. Commission released report only. Investigation was made by one man, whose wife worked for the removed commissioner. Report contradicts itself; exceeded stated mission. Opinions were prevalent while facts were missing supporting those opinions. States she violated ethics yet the law cited has nothing to do with the type of ethics violation she is accused of. Head of commission and most of commission are vocal opponents of Palin. No supporters on the committee. Decidedly one-sided makeup.

Comment by coloradobuff

Why do we give 500 million dollars a year to Acorn to push banks into loaning people who can’t afford it mortgages, to register fraudulent (liberlal) voters and then also have to use taxpayer money to investigate and prosecute Acorn on the other side of crimes. This is absolutely ridiculous!! If people really want to vote, they need to own the responsibility of registering and voting. I would rather spend money on efforts to get people to voting and registration locations rather than registration drives. If an elderly or handicapped person calls up and says they need assistance getting there, we should use all the money we otherwise would have spent on getting them to the polls. The people own some responsibility for exercising their right to vote if they take it seriously!!

Comment by Rosalie Bryan

I am a staunch Republican supporter but I think John McCain is either an idiot, senile, or he doesn’t really want to be President. He has exasperated me so much that I have decided to vote for Ron Paul.

Comment by Richard Hall

Sorry ya’ll, too early to “think” accurately? :) Barrack Hussein Obama IS Arabic..his FATHER IS from Sub-Sahara Africa(NOT BLACK) …Mom is from Kansas…makes him at least HALF Arabic…it’s Muslim there is a debate over, not his NATIONALITY…go for another cup, please.

Comment by Rich in Fla

Good Morning.

Is it possible your producers could book early guests who are a tad more mellow than Marc Lamont Hill? This man talks so fast, the captions have a hard time catching up. I know this because I put him on mute. It’s a terrible shock to the system to listen to this guy so early.

OK I’d even settle for Lannny Davis at 7 am. Right now I’m crossing my fingers Bob Beckel is out on a lake somewhere fishing.

Comment by EricL

Sarah Palin was investigated by a bipartisan group which means they are not favored Democratic or Republican, learn to get your facts straight Jimmy C.

Comment by Karen

Regarding McCain finally stepping up to debunk the myths that his campaign was instigating the past two weeks is far overdue. But kudos for the effort, however small. The fact that his campaign had decided to take this route is horrifically dishonorable. McCain, Palin and even Mrs. McCain has been inciting hate and racism at all of there rallies.

Comment by Garrett Smith

Alyson,

I have been watching the show weekdays & weekends for 4 years now. I noticed that you quit doing the news on weekday mornings and you’re only on the air on weekends or when Gretchen is gone. Out of curiosity what do you and the other weekend anchors do during the week?

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Hi Garrett, we often do taped pieces for the weekend show during the week, as well as fill-in on other shows and prep for the weekend. Oh, and take care of the kids.

Comment by John

I may not agree with John McCain and I will not vote for him BUT he did regain respect that he and his campaign has lost along the way by his handling of irate followers/hecklers. If he continues to take the high road, we may have a tight race…

Comment by sheldon gracias

When my wife and i bought our house we bought only what we felt we needed to to grow in including future kids and also made sure we were comfortable in making the payments.
Senator mcains plan calls for rewarding the homeowners who bought more than they could afford.
Why should my mortgage not be refinanced at the present value of my loan

I FEEL BETRAYED AND CHEATED

Comment by Lanna

Ask him how much ACORN pays him.

Comment by Tanya in PA

The Campaign is dealing with the challenges that most private sector businesses have been dealing with for a few years.
In prior days, most people learned about things, products and services from a friend, family member or a brick and mortar location.

With the rise of the internet, and the last mile of broadband extended, the old way of grassroots campaigning is competing with new egrassroots campaigning. A report recently released from Digit, shows that most people get their information about a candidate, NOT from the candidates website or the Party website, but from what they get from a search engine or a news type website. What ever has the most traffic is what they find.

So I think that the McCain Campaign is playing catch up.

Many of us out here are doing all we can to close that gap, by providing content, etc.

Comment by Charles Shepherd

When are we going to start using “common sense” in this Country? We are giving money to Companies who can’t manage it. Why not give every America, who paid taxes in 2007, a $100,000 rebate check. Then have the Companies owed money on mortgages send in a government request and if the person who owes the money has a rebate coming back send that $100,000 to that Company. Those of use the pay our bills would then in turn use our $100,000 to stimulate all Markets. We would pay bills, invest back in the stock market, buy retail goods from “Main Street” businesses, etc. This would put money back in the pockets of these “Belly-up” Companies and stimulate buying. Then the Companies who hold mortgages can either give people decent interest rates to re-cope the additional mortgage owed, or just foreclose on them.

This would cost the Taxpayers a lot less and put money back into all aspects of our Capitalistic Society.

Acorn Jerk:
This guy is lying through his teeth–what can we expect when we hear this jerk blaming everyone but the idiots who do this FALSE registration. Interesting as slick as this guy seems to be, HE HAD TO BE ONE OF THOSE THAT OBAMA TRAINED! ACORN IS A FRAUD AND HAS RESPONSIBLITY IN THE CRASH WE ARE GOING THRU–THEY WENT TO THE BANKS AND USED FORCE TO GET PEOPLE LOANS WHO HAD NO WAY OF PAYING FOR THOSE LOANS–THEY STAKED OUT BANK OFFICIALS HOMES–THIS BOILS DOWN TO BLACKMAIL!

LIES, LIES, LIES AND MORE LIES–SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY THING THE DEMOCRATS ARE CAPABLE OF DOING! OBAMA IS THE BEST AND HE TRAINED ACORN WELL AS WE ARE SEEING!

God help us!

Comment by coloradobuff

Ask him why Acorn sought out felons convicted of identity theft to work on their registration drives!!

Comment by Tamara

As you reported on the responses John McCain gave during recent campaign stops, I could only image what the news reporting would be if he did not try to calm the fears of voters. The tsunami of fear-baiting, hate-mongering, inciting racial issues would dominate the news. I do not think he had a choice.

Comment by coloradobuff

Rosalie, I understand your frustration, but realize this: a vote for Ron Paul is essentially a vote for Obama.

Comment by Shawn

Allison,

I beleive John McCain’s comments about Obama are simply a matter of him putting his integrity above the politics of the campaign. We talk about change in Washington and how we want our politicians to be straight shooters and McCain is demonstrating to this country that he already has those qualities.

Because of his public and truthful statements about Obama yesterday, I trust John McCain even more today than I did yesterday and beleive even more today that he’s the right man to lead this country.

Comment by Anita

Alisyn, that guy from ACORN was plain and simple RUDE. You needed to shut down his mike and switch over to the other guest to let him talk! He is like a parent whose kid has bit everyone in his kindergarten class–instead of taking responsibility for his kid, he’s saying that the classroom is too small so that the kids are close enough to bite each other!

Comment by Patsy

Alisyn, how can you say that the hateful things that have been said at McCain/Palin rallies are “internet rumors?” THERE IS VIDEO! “Off with his head! Tratior! Treason! Kill him!” It is sickening that anyone would defend this, ignore it, or pass it off as rumors. McCain and Palin have went too far and now have to calm the storm that follows when politics incite hatred. -Inexcusable and McCain/Palin should come out and go a step further by apologizing for igniting these acts. We are a nation of one!

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

That outburst was not the part I was referring to as internet rumors. And Clayton did make the point of how inappropriate that kind of language is.

Comment by Debra Montgomery

I am proud that John McCain did the right thing by taking the hard road when it came to defending Obama. He did not hesitate to give his opinion in a room where he was greatly outnumbered. The first thing that came to my mind,” was this woman planted to stir the pot and cast a bad light on McCain if he would have taken the bait and bashed Obama?” I feel like it says a lot about his integrity and I am proud to say I am voting for McCain/Palin.

Comment by Paul

Saw the interview and your guest appears questionable to me…it’s and ACORN snow job.

As for your earlier question during the show about what McCain needs to do for the balance of the campaign:

1) Attack Obama
2) Go further beyond the face of the attack and EXPLAIN WHY his position is significant/important to the American people.

Obama is doing this eliquently…McCains plans make sense and he needs to articulate them…

Thanks

Comment by Lorraine Keavany

If you’re not going to let John Fund speak to expose ACORN for what they truly are then please don’t bring him on as a guest. The idiot from ACORN spoke like true liar that he is. You show a video of the woman explaining how she was asked to register multiple times and then you let Scott filibuster the discussion. It’s a useless interview.

Comment by Mary MacKenzie

For heavens sake Alyson, control your guests! John fund was constantly interrupted and shouted down by the Acorn rep. You just allowed him to continue to spout his talking points. John
Fund never had a chance. As a fair moderator, and I know you are, you blew this one! If this kind of “debate” is representative of what we can expect if Obama wins, we are all in trouble.

Comment by Alice

OMFG< Tell him to shut the hell up because John didn’t say what needs to be said , why don’t you get it fox they the Acorn/Obama team knows the weak anchors on fox.
They know when to send these obots to talk to you(fox) why don’t they send them to Hannity or Oreilly or Greta ?
Those are the best to get crap out of these A_holes…

Please do everyone a favor and don’t interview anyone that is a professional liar you are not equip with Hannity’s power.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Alice,
Such language at this hour?

Comment by Nancy

Allison, You lost total control over the interview with the crackpot from Acorn. He wouldn’t let Funt talk and kept interrupting with his jargon. I had to change the channel. Disgusting!

Comment by SheriS

Ali:

I think we just saw the Democrat in you take over and John Fund was able to say virtually nothing! Thanks for revealing your true colors, and I just was reminded why I don’t watch F & F Weekend–TOTAL WATSTE!

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

SheriS,
While i appreciate your opinion, i think it stretches the truth to say we don’t allow John Fund to say anything. We’ve had him on literally nine consecutive days to tell us about instances of voter fraud involving Acorn. This was the first time we’ve had an Acorn rep on. Apparently that’s one too many times for you. So much for looking for answers, right?

Comment by Diana

McCain CONFLICTED? Clearly he’s forgotten the Socialism aspect of an Obama Nation.

Comment by SheriS

Sorry, I meant WASTE!

Comment by Tanya in PA

What McCain is trying to fix, but is not explaining it very well is that the mortgages that need to be bought and redone, are not necessarily a reward to those that took them. Most of those houses were APPRAISED FOR WAY MORE THAN THEY WERE WORTH.

This collusion between the realtors, appraisers, mortgage brokers, etc. has resulted in a balloon that has burst.

McCain wants to have the home reappraised, and refinanced in a mortgage that reflects the true home value and a non-predatory mortgage.

Comment by Dianne Metcalf

Look at AOL Straw Poll. They have McCain WINNING at 57%!

Comment by coloradobuff

Patsy: enough already. Remember the spanish speaking ad that Obama put out for hispanics linking McCain to parody comments by Limbaugh? You disagree with those hateful filled ads? This is politics - not a tea party for crying out loud!

Comment by judy

I still believe that the most outrageous screamers at McCain rallies are actually Obama supporters.

Comment by Todd

What a joke of an interview regarding Acorn and voter registration fraud. Have you ever moderated a two-sided debate/interview before? You gave the representative from Acorn all the time to talk and allowed him to talk over your other guest John. When guests are rude and act in that way, you must put him or her in their place and allow the other side to have their fair time to talk. That was the most frustrating interview I have heard in a long time.

Comment by C. A. Riggs

I’m sorry Alisyn, I couldn’t stand it anymore when you let Scott from ACORN take over and never let John talk. He obviously had the facts that we never heard. What kind of interview is that? Go back to the weather!!

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Weather? It seems stormy where you are.

Comment by Jeff J

Every 4 years all you hear from Democrats is how the Republicans have stolen another election. You would think the Dems would want people to prove they have the right to vote, instead they insist that showing a photo ID shouldn’t be required. By the way you are a terrible interviewer. You should bop that ACORN guy on top of his head and tell him to shut up and let others speak.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

I try not to use physical violence against our guests.

Comment by Will

His Walmart analogy is a canard.

If Walmart employees engaged in a pattern of stealing from customers or the government to the benefit of Walmart, we would blame Walmart.

You let him run all over you and not let Fund make his points.

Comment by SusieM

Omg that ACORN guy, is he nuts or what, what a condescending jerk, does he think we’re stupid. Come on John Fund, get him!

Comment by EricL

That old lady who thought that Obama was an Arab shows the mentality of the McCain/Palin supporters.

Comment by Elsie Jordan

Good job Alisyn interviewing Acorn! (HA-HA)
You really let Acorn shine.
Maybe you should stick to the news, you obviously can’t handle an interview.

Is it true, if Obama applied for the the FBI he would not be able to pass their background check and meet the stadards set for FBI hiring? I’m thinking this may be true due to his affiliation with some people, etc…. If true, WOW, would’n ty be hired for the FBI or to be a person to protect the President but, some want him to be President????

Sleazy little worm, makes my skin crawl and the main reason many Americans get the willies every time they mention ACORN and their ties to the Democratic Party. Remember people that man represents a group undermining you right to vote and who Pelosi and Reid tried to give millions of your taxpayer dollars in the 700 billion dollar bailout.

Who Obama, helped train, defended in a Lawsuit and has an 800 thousand dollar clerical error donation. Imagine how powerful this group will be in future elections with Obama and the Democrats having a Veto proof Congress and Senate.

Comment by Don Nutting

Grrr! John didn’t get his first point in let alone his final point. Shut Scot up and don’t let him phillibuster! It is obvious to me that this election is rigged and it is over. Obama has stolen the election. I just wonder if he stole the Primaries as well. Democracy is finished in this country. All hail King Barry the First. As for Scot, I hope the peasants string him up in the first revolt.

Comment by Jeff

Why do we see the need to keep asking these questions? There is less than ONE month away from the elections and nothing has stuck to Obama yet…Honestly, without the media promoting and protecting Obama, he would not be where he is today…McCain decides now to take the gloves off, but he’s not swinging hard enough to make a dent…Sad times for America…

Comment by Nikki from Texas

It’s pretty obvious the Acorn Nut is hiding the worm in his shell while saying there isn’t a worm.

Get a life PATSY, McCain cant control everthinh hat comes out of their mouth, At Obama Ralleys jerks say McCain is going to crock soon, Palin is a barbie doll for america, Its not Obamas fault either. So give it a rest PATSY.

Comment by Ginger Chad

You have given us a very weak segment———- take control or go back to “fluff” anchoring ———- he made a monkey out of you and “we” learned nothing from the other side!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Pam

Well Allie, you certainly let the ACORN guy go on and on and on and on and on and on. John Fund didn’t get but, maybe, a couple of sentences out. You should have cut the ACORN guy’s mic so John could have made his comments. You were terrible!!!!

Comment by Sheri S

I just watched the interview. The ACORN rep badgered and interrupted and “filusbustered” (which was the correct term) through the whole interview. This is what people do when they don’t want to answer questions and they have something to hide. When the smoke clears, ACORN is still what it is —crooked.

Comment by David Sunico

I just watched that pathetic interview you just did on air. So why would you let the clown from Acorn interrupt, without allowing your other guest finish his point. You fail in basic juournalism. That was so pathetic how you just let the ACORN fraud cut off the counterpoint, and you did nothing to shut him up and let your other guest speak. Maybe you should just stick with the Home Depot segment of the show. Real news interviewing is not your specialty. Why wouldn’t you even bring up the point that they promote fraud by paying the people for each signature they get. Maybe you and Gretchen should get together, and create a show called the Two Worst Women in News Reporting.

Comment by SusieM

Send Oreilly after Mr ACORN ;)

Comment by Susan Miller

The interview you had with the head of Acorn was the most pathetic controlled interview I’ve seen. You let Scott talk and talk and never let John have his say. You need to go back to News Interviews 101.

Comment by Lewis Haselwood

A profound disparagement of John Fund and your “fair and balanced” viewers to permit Acorm to sermonize, monopolize, and interrupt John Fund. For shame. More is expected of this program. Perhaps it’s time for a more assertive moderator.

Comment by Dan

You just conducted the WORST interview in the history of Fox News! You allowed the guy from ACORN to get in all his points, continually interrupt John Fund and let him make a mockery of what is actuallyt taking place. You need work on your skills!

Comment by dean

Your interview this with the ACORN representative was a disastor!!!! The ACORN representative totalling controlled the interview and you!!!! You never gave the curteousy of extending time to the opposing view!!!

I am so so disappointed in you!!

Comment by Mary

Aly,

That Acorn rep. is trying to manipulate us into believing his rhetoric. I’m sure Acorn has a “policy,” but they certainly aren’t enforcing it.

I would like to know if Acorn officials reviewed all 1.5 million registrations before being submitted to the respective election commission. If so, how can they have overlooked all the duplicates and false names the election commissions have found.

This man is trying to blame individual Acorn employees which would be okay if it wasn’t happening in every state fraud has been found.

Comment by Bob

I usually like Alysyn’s interview style, but today was pathetically bad…a new low. She let the Acorn apologist
