Friday’s Show and Weekend Sneak Peek

Hi Everyone,

I know so many of you inquired about where to find all the fun political paraphenalia from today’s show.   I was partial to the Donkey and Elephant salt & pepper shakers.  (btw, the cookies were delicious but may i suggest a milk chaser).   You can find a link (and great discounts) for all the stuff at: http://www.storeadore.com/sdev/press/blog/2008/10/10/shoppings-political-pulse/

We have a great show lined up for tomorrow.  Of course we’ll be talking about the economy but we’re not just going to repeat the doom and gloom outlook you hear elsewhere.  We have Pam Krueger, an expert on stocks and mortgages, to answer your email questions about how to proceed in this climate.  Feel free to start sending your questions here to the blog.  We’ll also show you our segment with Cesar Milan, the famed Dog Whisperer.  We intended to have him teach our producer Jennifer how to get her pit bull Sam to drop a ball (he tends to lock on permanently) but we got sooooo much more than we bargained for.  Wait til you see how Sam shocked us all with his bad behavior.  Little did we know how much he needed Cesar Milan’s intervention.  The video is disturbing (but has a happy ending)!

hi aly,
a question for pam:
it appears that folks that have walked the straight and narrow-lived within their means, paid their bills, kept an excellent fico score and invested prudently have taken it in the shorts for the folks
that haven’t-am I mad or just wrong?

Does anyone know what happened to Suzanne Sena? It seems like for the last couple of weeks during the overnight and evening news updates, they have replaced her with Lauren Sivan.

Can Pam explain in layman’s language what the stock market numbers really mean. I know it reflects sort of an average of all stocks out there but don’t really understand how the numbers are derived from trading. If stocks are being sold, I’m assuming that someone is buying them? Or not? Even though the ’stock market’ is plummeting, the way I understand it, it doesn’t actually reflect individual stocks or mutual funds. How does the over all market ‘crash’ affect all of us–or doesn’t it really affect everyone?

For Cesar–how do you train a dog that won’t take a treat? She also doesn’t respond reliably to being spoken to sternly or even to petting. I found her along the side of the road 4 years ago as a teeny tiny puppy. She’s pretty neurotic, she hides if you raise your voice, if she thinks you’re upset, but not at her, she’ll try to climb in your lap (all 32 lbs of her), if you move too fast to pet her, she still shies away sometimes, depsite the fact that most of our friends are dog-lovers she won’t approach anyone but my husband and I. Despite all that, she’s really a great dog: extremely loyal to me especially, and very well behaved generally but completely untrainable and there’s a few habits I like to ‘fix’.

Cesar – My sons jack russell is so loveable but so misbehaved. No one wants to be around her because she jumps on you, barks constantly when company comes, and when she feels she is being ignored she seems to intentionally tear up my granddaughters things. She is not aggressive or violent, mostly destructive. Suggestions?

Hey Ms. Alisyn,

Sure was a pleasant surprise to find you on my morning news this morning. Guessing that tech problems prevented a blog for the day. Be that as it may, I am most certainly looking forward to the weekend with you and the rest of the crew.

As always, my best to you and yours.

Exercise the ill patient instead of injecting artificial stimulants.

America’s newest bureaucracy, the TSA, in its forbearance of unfunded security mandates, has become an unwitting continuance of the damage inflicted on 911. In its defense, much has been studied, understood and identified to bring the very needed solutions. The quagmire of funding is squarely blocking the bringing forth of those solutions to end the lingering ailments commercial aviation and, by extension, the disillusioned economy.

Release the appropriated funding to deploy the solutions. Taking shoes off and sorrowful wallowing in seemingly endless victimization continues to serve the mission of the enemies who attacked to damage the American economy and way of life. We desperately need the streamlining of security processes already identified to enable the clicky-heeled salesmen to be out moving their products and the restoration of tourism. The legions of employees in all the related industries and functions will flourish again to buy houses, automobiles and such to revitalize those stalled industries in sequence.

Unstick the quagmire with functional funding instead of questionable experimentation of backing shortfalls. Let’s get back to being Americans.

I think the reason why people are so frustrated with John McCain taking the high road and not wanting to share ALL the dirt on Obama is the lack of reporting on mainstream media. I am a FOX NEWS junkie and have been for years. However in discussing politics with friends and family I am shocked to find out that they have NO knowledge of Obama’s associations with ACORN, Ayers, Rezco, his college years and affiliations.

As far as ACORN goes. I think it is a noble thought to register people to vote. Nevertheless, I think it is the responsibility of EVERY American to take the responsibility and the time to register. The day I turned 18, I went to city hall to register to vote. In college I took responsibility to file for an absentee ballot. EVERY time I changed addresses I took the responsibility to register. To me voting is a responsibility I take very seriously much precious American blood has been shed for me to have this honor of having a voice in our democracy. Every time I have moved as an adult to the list of things to be transferred such as cable and electricity I have chosen to change my voter registration. It is a responsibility of citizens as a way to celebrate our freedom!

Dear Alysin, I am writing to express my shock at your poorly conducted interview with the Acorn official on Saturday. You let him take control of the interview and therefore you were disrespectful to the opponent who was outtalked, out of turn, and whistled so that we couldn’t hear his comments. You really need to get lessons on how to not get too involved in trying to please assertive, aggressive men. That was a poor performance and I am so surprised that you seemed to want so much to please that Acorn slime. I am an independent voter and was totally turned off by his behavior and, secondly, by yours.
You need to apologize to the other man and give him time to tell us what he was trying to say. You cannot lose control of an interview like that. It is not professional.
Sincerely,
Emma Carvin

Alisyn,
What were you thinking?? When I calm down I will remain extremely disappointed in your handling of the interview with John Fund and the acorn representative Scott. That was certainly NOT fair and balanced! I was embarrassed at the treatment of John Fund, a reputable contributor to the wall street journal and author of a book on stolen elections. I wanted to hear his side!!! You did NOTHING about Scott’s continuous interruptions and John’s continuous HINTS that he would like to respectfully speak.

Hi, Allison,
I am fox news fan since 9/11/01, as was my husband, until he died on June 5th.

I desperately want John McCain (and Sarah Palin) to put Rev. Wright, Acorn, and the Faracon(?) message Bill O’Reilly showed last night as ISSUES of Obama’s pattern of Radical Associations over his lifetime. Some body better wake up and smell the rotton fish. I would swear I heard Faracon call Obama the “Messiah”…….”and the Messiah is speaking”……is what I heard.

Folks should think about the prophecies of the “end times”……ie….a smoothed-tongued devil who pulls the wool over everyone (those with eyes but cannot see), the one-world religion (radical Islam), the so-called religious leader of the one-world religion (Wright?), the beast (Faracon), the one-world currency (the URO), and….(those who have ears but cannot hear)….all those who are backing Obama, but don’t seem to see and hear all these things. Supported by Hamas, Faracon, Wright, Avery….etc.

We can’t stop God’s Plan….but we can PRAY for those who will not see or hear. That’s about all we can do at this point…Pray, and share God’s message.

Where’s Lauren? Couldn’t she do some kind of special on this? Share this with Sean. He’s not afraid to say what needs to be said. I’m not trying to be the voice of doom because I’m not afraid of the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord. My family and I are covered than God, but so many aren’t.

Good morning,
I am from “main street” and have a very big silver lining. The price of oil going down, in my opinion and in my life, is the greatest silver lining. The price of oil rising soooo high was the biggest problem in my neck of the woods. I live in New England and was wondering how my family, my friends, and I could afford to heat our homes this winter!! The gas prices stopped me from buying other things or going anywhere to spend my money. My daughter did lose her home but it was the cost of the gas/oil prices contributing to her losing it. (She did sell it the day before the foreclosure sale was to take place and did get $3000 instead of the $35,000 equity she had. All of that money went to Countrywide for fees. Countrywide should be investigated too.)

you showed a clip of a lady expressing her fear of obama and mccain’s response.

john mccain does not appear to be aware of obama’s background. the lady was right.

obama is part arab, his father was a kenyan and was part arab, this is a fact.

obama is quite proud of his history and also his relatives is kenya as he should be.

obama has a cousin in kenya named odinga who is his cousin.

obama traveled to kenya to help his cousin and also endorse his cousin in an election.

odinga lost that election but started riots in which christians were locked in a church and

burned or hacked to death.

odinga signed a pact with muslims to bring sharia law to kenya

obama was well aware of and supported his cousin and his positions (even advising him)

After being a witness to ACORN employees trying to register persons who were not citizens, I voiced my concerns to the State Board of Elections in Raleigh, NC….and received a prompt reply from this office.

They told me they were meeting with ACORN that very day and these concerns were voiced in no uncertain terms. They did acknowledge that $8 per hour employees are working on a “QUOTA” basis.

I urge you to contact your State Board of Elections to define your concerns.

Dear Ali,

I too was very, very angry with that oily car salesmen from Acorn. (Tsik, Tsik, Tsik) When was the last time you’ve heard such a sound eminate from human being? However, I took your lack of jumping in to stop his behavior as very clever. Yes, you could have controlled him….but, you let his behavior speak volumes. How much more we hate that organization as a result of his slimmy tactics. You gave him all the rope needed to hang himself in the eyes of all of us.

How hard it must have been for you to control shuting that guy up! Brava to you Ali! As you can see, we all loath him now.

I heard that congress (Democrats) want to send out another check ,,, wasn’t it the Democrats the who wanted the first check to be 1200 rather then 2400,, In my opinion there should be no more checks they screwed up by not giving 2400 first time ,,,, it’s like giving a homeless person 1.00,,, what can he do with it ,, now give him 100.00 he can eat or get shoes etc. Also remember that jar of coins you’ve saving on your night stand, don’t cash them in , your going to need them if Obama gets elected,,, by the way I’m democrat, and with all the polls taken (i know hundreds of people) and none have every been asked how they were voting ,by phone or in person

Huckabee stated this on his show over the weekend. Every day for the past two weeks, some one or some company is selling off a large volume of shares making the stock market (dow) be in the negative at the end of the day. This may be causing a domino effect with other countries. Who has this much clout??? Check out the volume at the end of the day in the dow chart. Run your cursur over the chart to see how many shares are trading at the end of the day.

I didn’t see your interview of the ACORN person, but I am familiar with their policies. I am retired Navy, and I have a comment about the covereage of the polical scene. Everybody seems to put a lot of emphasis on John McCains’ support of George Bushes’ policies, but nobody discloses Obamas’ support for the same policies. John has mentioned a couple of times in the past how Obama has voted with him on many issues, but the information seems to be pushed under the covers. Why doesn’t somebody address this fact to put the record straight??
Also, I used to live in the Chicago area, and I know the Daley machine policies of crooked politics, which are in place in the Obama campaign. I may know much more about his policies he is using than you can, or are afraid to air. If you would like to know mor3e please contact me a rwt43@aol.com. thank you!!

Obama: Trustworthy, Naive, or Liar?

Which word in the Subject fits him? It appears that his message of hope, change, “trust me”, the new Camelot, etc., is working with many people.

If he is trustworthy, he might be a good President (I doubt it). People like to talk about the Kennedys as if they were saviors of the world and even Johnson was cheered for his social plans. Did their programs really work? The Democrats were in charge of Congress for a long time and I don’t think that things were better then. We trusted them then, and it wasn’t quite as successful as some want us to believe.

His pattern of “fibbing” is evident on news video and could be seen by anyone if people will just take the time to examine the visual evidence and the auditory or written records. However, those like him and his supporters obviously believe that the end justifies the mean. I am prejudice by learning, but not a racist even though my criticism would be branded that.

I doubt that Marx, Lenin, Tito, Castro, and even Chavez looked at themselves as bad or as liars at first. They thought a socialist utopia or more reasonably — a socialist state was good for them and their people. After they got in power, that changed drastically. Since their “intentions” for their people were good, their excesses and comfort were justifiable to them. Sadly, the people found out too late.

Capitalism has its problems as illustrated by greedy CEO’s, investors, and, yes, greedy Union Execs. In the USA. we have other benefits and freedoms that sometimes counterbalance those things that seem to be unfair to or against us. None of the economic theories are perfect, but the USA and its form of capitalism has given us freedom, hope, and adaptability.

Obama say he really does not want the support of Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba, and other Socialist countries, but he has it anyway and appears to be ready to build on that. Even though so-called progressives said there was never a Cold War, Reagan and others helped bring down the walls of the old system by outspending them and other means. Is it possible that Putin, the other Socialist leaders of the world, and even the radical Muslims might be using similar means to put us where they want us?

If the polls are correct and Obama is elected, I hope that he is as trustworthy as he is “cool”. If he is a liar that will be evident rather quickly and maybe the American people will replace the “Liberal Triangle” of Palosey, Reed, and Obama. If he is naive, people with bad intentions for the USA will probably outmaneuver him because they may not have gone to an Ivy League school, but are fairly intelligent. Sadly, such a gullible person in history has turned out to be a “dupe” and a detriment to the people they were supposed to serve.

He may think that he was born in a manger, but he ain’t quite that high. I am afraid of him and I think that we all should be.

Obamas Tax Plan explaines by Buying Beer For Fox and F

“For the Obama fans

——————————————————————————–

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill
for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our
taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the
bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one
day, the owner threw them a curve. ‘Since you are all such good
customers, he said, ‘I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer
by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our
taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink
for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How
could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his
‘fair share?’ They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if
they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and
the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the
bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by
roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts
each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before And the first four
continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men
began to compare their savings.

‘I only got a dollar out of the $20′, declared the sixth man.
He pointed to the tenth man,’ but he got $10!’

‘Yeah, that’s right’, exclaimed the fifth man. ‘I only saved a
dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!’
‘That’s true!!’ shouted the seventh man. ‘Why should he get $10
back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!’

‘Wait a minute,’ yelled the first four men in unison. ‘We
didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!’

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the
nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay
the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough
money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors,
is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get
the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them
for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact,
they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat
friendlier.”
