I believe the character strategy is effective, but maybe too early timed. When the stock market rebounds this week, a lot of the Economy discussion may calm down. This election is going to be close down to the wire and in the last week before, what will be the message?

Most already know about Sen. Obama’s fast and loose connections, it isn’t going to change anyone’s mind to re-hash them. Sen. Obama hasn’t said a single word on how he intends to do anything except raise taxes, and Sen. McCain isn’t that much ahead in that department.

The McCain Campaign needs to go on the attack, stay on him constantly, not let up. I suspect the McCain campaign telegraphed the new tactics ahead of time to force the Obama Campaign to react. Now that they know Obama will attack McCain using Keating and the S&L scandal the Campaign can prepare a defense to all his potential attacks. If the McCain Campaign is willing to take it to this level their opposition research better be well prepared with a few surprises for the Obama Campaign.

As for Character it trumps economy and National defense for without Character we can never be sure that either man will not put self advancement and their interest ahead of ours.

I appreciate McCain wanting to make the elections more fair … but the otherside is not following the rules of fairness. Yes, its time to take off the gloves and start hitting Obama hard and talking about his past and present affiliations. Character is very important. You are friends with and hang out with like minded people. Look at Chavez – does he hang out with leaders from those countries that are friends of the US? No, and neither does Obama.

Just one more thing on the campaigns and what’s going on. Reality check, the most the Government can do is trim the fringe on the rug. In other words the most the Government can do is keep out of the way and let the free market get back on track.

First the Repulicans are going to have to unleash Sarah Palin if we have any chance of winning as well as Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Rudy, etc… out on the campaign. We need all the help we can get out there. O’Bama is every where!! My thought on this, is if one doesn’t have good character, they don’t have anything- specifically the trust, loyalty, and respect from others. Therefore, McCain’s attack on Obama’s character is MORE important than his attack on Obama’s plan for the economy… the character of our future President is what will be present in every aspect and issue of the next 4 years- not just in the decisions made about the economy. If one of the candidate’s has some SERIOUS character flaws… it is more important that those are brought to the surface for the voting public to make an informed decision in November that will effect ALL issues in the next four years.

Character is probably one of the most important aspect of a good executive. That forms the basis for trust. At present we seem to have very little trust in those we have elected to lead this country. It is very important to understand the backgrounds of the individual candidates. As for Obama’s relationship with Ayers, why did he remain on the Board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge? Why did this charity allow William Ayers to be on the Board? Also, should we question the validity of Factcheck.org which is another Annenberg entity?

I think McCain/Palin should focus on character but not minimize the economic issue. Obama’s character is so flawed, therefore how can we trust what he proposes to do in regards to the economy? Judging by Obama’s friends and associates, we can no longer trust him to keep our country safe from a domestic terrorist – the one who wishes he had done more. We can’t trust Obama to keep our country safe from foreign terrorists – the ones he said he would meet with without conditions. Should trust anything Obama proposes? Change for change sake is not necessarily a good thing!!

The truth hits hard.Simply stated, Obama has too many questionable associations in his not so distant past.Over $100,000. in contributions from ACORN, a sweetheart deal related to buying his home, etc. We must not become hypnotized by the Obamtites. Obama is still referring to “Katrina” and “Katrina like” in his stump speeches. There are over 300 still missing in the Gulf Coast area of Texas three weeks after Ike and there is no mention of that. Maybe since HE cares so much about community, he could send the proceeds from one of his concerts or fundraisers to help those that are in such dire need.

During these economic hard times the worst possible thing that could happen is for America to have a tax & spend congress with a tax & spend president. The Great Depression will soon look like the good old days in comparison to what will happen.

On the upside, all the left-wing media types will be taxed to death and will continue to watch their financial portfolios turn into paper suitable for lining the bottom of bird cages.

Everybody (both parties) want to use the $10 billion dollars a month from the War in Iraq to fund their pet projects or tax cuts. What they fail to realize is that a major portion of that amount is fixed in terms of salaries for soldiers, housing and health care for service families, equipment maitenance and upgrade, personnel services, etc. The actual savings realized by withdrawing and ending the war today, and scaling back our standing forces dramatically (God forbid) are nowhere near $10 billion/month.

Re the VP debate, one of the ways I thought Sarah Sixpack, er, Palin (love the nick, btw, kudos to ya Ali! resonated with me was that she was very down to earth. She admitted, not in so many words but in her attitude, that she didn’t have the credentials to go toe-to-toe with Biden on foreign policy. Well, how many people in could debate a guy who’s chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for what, 15 years or whatever, and not look like an idiot? She had the grace to admit his expertise and avoid looking like an idiot.

A lot of people have criticized her for her saying “you betcha” and stuff like that. Well, I’m from rural Ohio originally, I like hockey and knows a dump and check team from a puck-possession one, and she’s one of us as far as I’m concerned. The big problem in the way Obama and Biden are tarring McCain as being the third term of George Bush, and that is not playing well in rural Ohio right now, hence the somewhat surprising gap in favor of Obama.

When Sarah Sixpack was asked what she would do if John McCain dropped dead and she took over as President, I would have liked a truly honest answer. She gave the party line answer. I suspect that in her heart she had something else to say. I for one would like to know what it was.

Regarding the economy vs. character argument, I would like to see McCain go after Obama’s assocations with people like Ayers. That’s just as important as how he’s going to right the economy in my opinion.

Character “is” about the economy. I am not sure Obama has been truthful about his economic plan. This is the same Jeremiah Wright whose sermons saying “G-Dam America!” have been caught on videotape and posted on the Internet, forcing Obama belatedly to renounce their 20-year friendship.

If NBC News really were interested in digging into Obama’s past, it would want to investigate his ties to Khalid Al-Mansour, the former mentor of the Black Panther Party, who later became a Black Muslim nationalist and top advisor to Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

Harlem political icon Percy Sutton says Al-Mansour has been raising money for Obama and asked Sutton in 1988 to write a letter to help Obama get into Harvard Law School.

Finally, You might want to find some of Obama’s classmates from Columbia University, where he transferred in 1981 after two uneventful years at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

Fox News tracked down 400 people who had been at Columbia at the same time as Obama, and not one had any recollection of him. Isn’t that curious.

Americans know an awful lot about John McCain. For the past 26 years, he has been a public person. And scores of witnesses have come forward to tell us about his youth, especially his five and a half years as a POW in North Vietnam.

He was instrumental in working as an attorney for ACORN which pressured lending institutions into making risky loans to people who couldn’t affort it.
He has also received the second highest (and he has only been there three years!) campaign contributions from Fannie, who is a major cause of our crisis!

With Obama and McCain both casting votes for this 850 billion dollar bailout, where does Obama get his 800 billion in new spending? He is still on the trail promising the American people that 95% of us will receive a tax cut. Come on America, don’t fall for promises made on the trail, knowing this will never happen. True change has already been proven with McCain. He has spent countless hours gathering up his base because he votes his mind. Obama has not. He doesn’t have to. He votes strictly on party lines. 97% on party lines. If you want real reform to take place in Washington, this is a no brainer, McCain and Palin bring that change.

If these “undecided” voters are basing their decisions on how a gotcha interview or even a debate is perceived this late in the game, they are definitely not a group of people that follow the facts closely. Maybe the more emotional aspects of an election will appeal to these strange people that must have been living in a cave for the past two years.

Any portion of the community that would re-elect Marion Barry don’t care about past or current connections. I have seen over and over that some communities only care about what they can get from our government and not what is good for our country, no matter what laws the candidate may have broken or what friends they may have. It is sad in my mind that a certain part of our country is that way. I would like to think that no prejudice would come into this election, but come on, 98% of blacks voting for a black candidate just has to be prejudiced to me. What makes the black community think that a black man is going to be good for them???? Can U answer me that….

The Character must be brought to light and be front and center. But the economy should still be addressed and points made where Obama’s plan will not work and will be disaster.

But I have a question. It’s always told when the Clinton’s are campaigning for Obama….Does McCain have others campaigning for him? and if so who and where are they campaigning?

He should do both handling economy issues and unleashing his troups to spread the truth about Obama true presona. Theres enough truth to be told about Obama that he could even through in some when he talks after O did have a hand in our economic troubles he was part of the greedy grind club.

If Obama raises taxes on those that make above $250,000 which are our small businesses where do you think the majority of our jobs will go? Either overseas or you will force them to stop hiring which will stifle our economy further. In 1992 we had this question of the economy vs character. There were questions about Bill Clinton’s character but his campaign stuck with “It is the economy, stupid!”. Clinton won!

When people are seeing a higher grocery bill every week, gas prices are a roller coaster (Still shortages in the SE) the market is going down down down, banks going under and the gov’t spends trillions of dollars to bail out banks and mortgage companies, Ignoring the economy is a good idea!

Let Palin and others go on the attack. Let McCain and Romney talk the economy. Tell why Obama’s plan raises more taxes than he claims. Tell how it will hurt the economy. Convince people that McCain understands the squeeze people are having and he isn’t just paying lip service. Talking about cutting taxes on the rich is not going to help when people are mad as hell for the gov’t bailing out the rich bankers on wall street.
So far I have been unimpressed by McCain’s campaign advisers.

What really irritates me the most with Obama is that no one seems to care about his character. There’s so much out there on Obamas shady connections with criminals and other unsavory characters, that it just amazes me that this guy is actually a candidate for president! Not only should Mccain be shouting all of this from the rooftops, he should be questioning the character of a political party that would support someone like this. But- he also must address the economy, and how much Obamas plan is going to increase taxes, regardless of how much they try and say they won’t. That is a lie! He needs to really get intense, and show some enthusiasm. Also, both Mccain and Palin need to point out on the campaign trail how many errors Biden had in the presidential debate. Obama’s character is definitely on the table!!

(1) Obama worked and trained ACORN employees (who have been accused of voter fraud and other shady practices),

(2) Obama was appointed by Ayers to be on the Board of a far, far, left wing organization (why do you think Ayers asked him to be president of the Board? They were obviously “friends” having the same common goal: indoctrinate students) Then, Ayers conducted a fund raiser in his home for Obama to kick-off his presidential campaign (Does just an acquaintance do that for someone??) Ayers is a terrorist! So is his wife!

(3) He made shady mortgage deals with Rezko who is now indicted for mortgage fraud. Rezko also contributed and held fundraisers for Obama’s presidential campaign.

(3) Obama constantly lies. He promises the world to everyone, knowing full well that he can’t and won’t deliver to anyone! He will raise our taxes, cram more gov’t. down our throats, promote a socialistic economic plan. He calls it being “neighborly.” I call it “socialism.” He’s very deceitful! He prays on America’s strength of wanting to help our fellow neighbor, yet promoting his very far left wing (socialist) agenda. Which by the way will destroy our economy!!!

(4) He will also appoint very, very liberal judges who will legislate from the bench and believe me, our freedoms will be at risk. These judges will be confirmed because of a congress with no backbone.

This is in response to the Acorn issue. Some people don’t know that Obama was the attorney for Acorn & he trained the employees to be very aggressive with banks & loan institutions to get lower income families homes that they couldn’t afford. I feel he’s part of the housing crisis. If Obama won’t have taught these employees to threatened the institutions, this might not have been so much of a problem. Many don’t know that Obama & the Democratic party are pretty much in charge of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac & ignored the signs. So, as far as I’m concerned the Democratic party was the majority of the lending crisis we now have to bailout. If the bailout doesn’t help & could make matters worse, guess what, the Democrates will blame this on the Bush administration & the Republicians eventhough the Democrates where the majority in passing the bill!

McCain / Palin should put on fighting gloves. This man – OBAMA – needs to have his character

The McCain/Palin campaign needs to begin with much more aggressive attack on the democratic ticket. Never has less been more with the Democrats . . . they have put forth a candidate with the least amount of creditentials for president than ever in their history. Another issue. I have received E-mails stating that Biden will claim either sickness or family issues so they can replace him with Clinton. What a way to really insure stealing the election! I’m outraged if this happens. I believe that Obama will do any dirty deed to win this election besides voter fraud by his cronies!

By the way, the Federal Laws regarding Small Business are at SBA.gov read pages 10-32 which states how many employees Small Businesses have to be called a Small Business (500-1000)! She was the Chairwomen of the Board for Superior Bank. According to the show she was very aggressive about pursuing subprime mortgages and that it led to the banks demise. This cost the account holders 10 million dollars in loss of their savings. It was indicated that her and Obama go back aways and she has brought a lot of wealthy donors to his camp. Why don’t we hear more about this association or investigate it further from the media?

Asking Dennis Kuchinch for commentary about elections is like asking OJ Simpson for relationship advise. You also showed him without his foil hat. Remember what he did to Cleveland!

In the segment between Clayton and Rep. Kuchinich the congressman says that the treasury secretary was part of the problem that messed up our economy, but he failed to mention all of the ways that Congress was responsible as well.

Then when the topic turned to home ownership he said that the government will be an avenue for people to hang onto their homes by way of the Federal government holding the paper. Well that’s a relief we will now have nationalized home mortgages and he has his way nationalized medical coverage.

Just what we need, the folks that have bankrupted Social Security will now run the mortgage market. All in all what the congressman is saying is that we need bigger government, so who will pay for these programs?

These are nothing more than ways to get votes at re-election time by making the people dependant on government. Just another reason why I say that term limits MUST be imposed on congress, if it’s good enough for the President it’s good enough for all of them as well.

Maybe the dress codes are to screen those homeless people Acorn is picking up off the street, and regarding McCain’s message, he should also be talking about Energy, Energy, Energy. Listen to Kusinich? You’ve got to be kidding… I watched him on CSPAN during the debate and he came off as a raving, luniatic. Everything was the administrations fault. Franks and Waters did nothing wrong according to him. He refuses to acknowledge the fact that 17 time Bush sent proposals to Congress that Fannie and Freddie to be regulated and it was blocked in Committee. He was spewing forth the party-line so much it made if very evident that the House of Representives is totally ineffective.

The problem is that the attitudes in Washington have spread throughtout the country. I really believe that not since the two decades prior to the Civil War has the entire country been so divided between the people where even friends and family can no longer even discuss politics. It’s become so bad that now a candidate can’t even say that he might agree anything his opponent might say without getting attacked by his political supporters. Apparently the concept of Bi-partisnship for the good of the country is no longer possible for a lot of people. Discussion it essential in a Democracy. Compromise is an essential in a Democracy. For my thoughts on what Dennis Kucinich said regarding the voting issue, I think he needs to wake up and pay attention to what is going on in his state. It is my understanding each state has legal issues which each resident must follow before they can vote in any city district, state, or federal election within the particular state they are living in.

Hypothetical: Mary moves to another state she must register and be living there for so long before she can vote legally within that district.

I think the McCain campaign should really start focusing on the culpability of the Democratic Party’s responsibility of the economic breakdown. Every Democrat that comes on always tries to link McCain and Bush and that all the fault lies within the Bush Administration. Not that the fault goes both ways, McCain needs to really drive home his effort for reform along with other Republicans over the past few years went unheeded. I think his campaign really needs to drive that into the American people. Obama’s ties to these left wing radicals is dangerous and scary, but everyone is affected by the economy right now, and they need to show that the Democrats really dropped the ball. One of the reasons that I questioned Obama from the get go was all his associations with the radicals. Then I kept hearing about how Muslims around the world are “cheering” for Obama to win the Presidency. Plus Chevez, Castro, Putin and other communist countries that are hoping he makes it into office. How scary is this? That in itself totally changed my mind about him. I know that we are going through some tough times economically but terrorism to me is still at the top of my list.

I think McCain should attack Democrats in Congress for the state of the economy tying Obama to the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac downfall. This economic firestorm is the headline, not Obama’s past. Obama’s past is a look into our future if he is elected. The economy is tied closer to what people are dealing with now. Fear of job loss, putting food on the table and meeting financial obligations. The FDIC is backing the CITI Group take over of Wachovia instead of the Wells-Fargo deal?
The Wells Fargo deal is for 7 times more money.
The Wells Fargo deal is for the whole Wachovia bank, not breaking it up as the CITI deal does.
The Wells Fargo deal would lay off probably less than a 1/4 of the Wachovia employees than the CITI deal.
The Wells Fargo deal does not require the FDIC to take on any debt as part of the deal. CITI deal has the FDIC taking on part of Wachovia’s bad debt.

Everything about the Wells Fargo deals is better and doesn’t cost the gov’t anything. So the FDIC is opposed to it and backing the deal that would cost more jobs and leave the gov’t paying billions of the Wachovia debt.
And the FDIC are part of the people we are trusting with the trillions of dollars the gov’t is suing to bail out the economy? Yeah, I feel better about them making the decisions.

I find it interesting that the younger generation finds Obama to be a better candidate for president, but when they explain why…..its always a superficial explaination like we need a change.

I think that this generation and alot of the society has gotten wrapped up in the “American Idol” way of thinking. Alot of the people nowadays want to VOTE on the person that will be “more interesting to watch” down the road…….and not the person that will protect American fundamentals which made this country strong.

Why dont you all talk with every day Americans who know the real deal. Point the current rescue plan is not going to help anything, but give money to politicians and their friends who have money in properties, none to us who need it.
1) if they really wanted to help americans with keeping their homes how come they dont lower the housing interest rates and make it law that 50% of payment or less goes to interest and minimum 50% goes to principle.
Force Banks to loan to those who can make their payments, to prevent the loans these finance companies to make loans to people who are friends of politicians, and those who are living well above their means so they can look rich from making these loans,
make it law that all lenders explain in writing the difference between fixed and varible loans and the outcome of both.
Make it law that if a lender does loan to a person under verible rate the lender must make sure the person can afford the payment in the amount double of that at the current rate of the loan at the time it is made and if the lender loans anyways the lender has no recoarse in help from the goverment.
One of the problems with the goverment buying these forclosed properties is these are properties that was bought way above the value of the home and thus are upside down and therefore when resold will sold at market value thus creating a loss that we tax payer will pay for.
These lenders who have these forclosed homes need to put them up for auction and accept their loss
No CEO’s should recieve any money if they run the company into the ground, in fact they should be jailed or sued
Taxes- Obama keeps saying that he is only going to raise taxes on the rich, smarten up when he does the rich is just going to add that money to their products and we are going to pay that bill.
Taxes- If they really want to help average americans- go to the flat tax and stop all these deductions that these companies take to lower their income to pay a lower tax. No matter the size of the company the bigger they get the more they write off, cars, house, fuel, food, everything.

Regarding the conversation this morning about voter troubles in Ohio. The question was raised about the appropriateness of homeless people, who might not even be Ohio residents, voting in Ohio. The answer was the in a federal election not having a home should not disqualify voters. This answer works if that federal election was determined by popular vote count. But it is not. It is determined by electoral college votes from each state, which I believe would make residency of the state a qualification to vote there.

I am a military spouse that currently lives on an Army base (Fort Bragg, NC). I am still a legal Ohio res. and very proud of that. I recently had to send in a request for an absentT ballet to vote in the election. I had to fill out my Social and my Ohio drivers lisc. ALONG WITH A BUNCH OF OTHER INFO. I don’t understand how the hay people can regester and vote in the same day and that that is OK. Last election I vol. for the Replublician party and we had so much junk to deal with concering Kerry and his crazies that came to our great state……. in away this unfair back pocket stuff isn’t to suprising. And NO I am not voting in NC. Once a Buckeye always a Buckeye. Besides when he retires we are going back home to Ohio any ways.

I believe Obama’s connection to people of questionable character should be brought to light in this campaign. The problem is that he seems to be like the “Teflon Don” – nothing sticks to him. If this was ANYONE ELSE, there would be big headlines and lots of coverage. It’s almost like people are afraid of him. I hope the McCain campaign can bring this information forward along with Obama’s connection to ACORN and the public will pay attention.

The reason Obama’s past (current?) associations are relevant is because he has no track record for us to determine if his actions will be in synch with his words. Without that, we need to understand his core principles.

I think it may not work as well as they hope it will. I personally do not like it when candidates talk about the other candidates. Any truth to this? (Please remove if there is none as I do not want to spread internet rumors, but with Hillary “filling in” for Biden I thought maybe so):

This is the most recent unconfirmed report/rumor I
have received about Biden stepping down from the ticket, and the first I’ve
circulated. It’s crystal clear that Biden is a liability to the Democratic
ticket, and Hillary would bring scorned radical feminists back into the Democratic fold. (I’d wager that Hillary & Co. would n to vote for an Obama/Biden ticket, allowing McCain to win so Hillary can run on her own in 2012.)

The question would then be, if Hillary becomes the Democratic VP nominee, and Obama/Clinton win, does Obama suspect her plan to run against him in the 2012 Democratic primary?

Let me share some info with you that I have gotten from excellent sources
within the DNC:

On or about October 5th, Biden will excuse himself from the ticket, citing
health problems, and he will be replaced by Hillary. This is timed to occur
after the VP debate on 10/2.
There have been talks all weekend about how to proceed with this
info. Generally, the feeling is that we should all go ahead and get it out
there to as many blog sites and personal email lists as is possible. I have
already seen a few short blurbs about this – the “health problem” cited
in those articles was an aneurysm. Probably many of you have heard the same
rumblings.
However, at this point, with this inside info from the DNC, it looks like this Obama strategy will be a go. Therefore, it seems that the best strategy is to get out in front of this Obama
maneuver, spell it out in detail, and thereby expose it for the grand manipulation that it is.

So, let’s start mixing this one up and cut the Obamites off at the pass – send this info out to as many people as you can – post it on websites and blogs – etc etc

Does that not worry anyone that this senator is back by Chicago? Obama is linked to the Governor of who is under indictment by his own party!

So, does “Character Count?”

Why do we never hear about the connection of Obama to Bill Ayers in the Annenberg Challenge? Obama has never clearly explained that relationship. Nor, have they (Annenberg Challenge) opened their records that could give us an better look into that relationship. What do they have to hide? Why not open and put all the “smears” to rest. Could it perhaps be because their is a relationship between Obama and Ayers they are trying to hide.

Connecting Senator Obama with his own comments goes farther to character than his associates. We’ve seen his associates, but true character is what a person says “off the cuff.” Comments such as American soldiers “bombing villages and killing civilians” in Afganistan, “clinging to their religion and guns” , etc.
I would like to see more media coverage to force Mr. Obama to explain such comments to the American voters.

This is crazy- The NYT and WaPo have whitewashed the Ayers connections- IF you want FAIR and balanced- you should get Stanley Kurtz on to tell THE REST OF THE AYERS STORY.

The passage of the economic rescue plan is a disgrace.

We reached this point due to leading congressional members of both parties blocking the efforts of the Whitehouse and other congressional members to place tougher oversight measures on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac since 2003.

This mess began with a politically motivated policy of the Clinton Administration to provide mortgages to low income households, a lending risk that no conventional banker would take. Then throw in overly high fuel costs inflating the prices of all consumer goods and disaster soon followed.

Many leading financial professionals have stated the rescue plan was unnecessary, but I truly feel that many Congressional members needed this plan because without it they would have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

I refused to rely upon the news media to accurately report the details of this bill, in less than five minutes I had the entire 451 page bill downloaded from the Internet. To my astonishment I discovered that the plan was attached to the funding of a new mental health facility and a comprehensive energy package that would never be debated in Congress.

The passage of this bill is an indictment against the American people. Congress is to blame for the majority of our government ills yet the people continue to re-elect the same candidates to office.

The time has come for the voters to act on Election Day and clean house. Then demand that the new Congress implement term limits on both houses of Congress, I say each member of Congress may serve no more than two terms and each term lasts no more than three years.

The Ayers connection attack is fine – but they need to have more foocus on Ayres/Obama’s recent association – like fundraisers by Ayers – the terrorist?
McCain needs more focus on the Fannie and Freddie connection – fact that in such a short time Obama has received more – needs to be put into perspective. Ad needs to AIR same day as debate.
Connect everyone, Rains, Johnson, Rezko – and do it over and over – make the ads – different and with more punch every time.
Also be detailed on Obama’s tax plan – clearly show that the “rich” pay the larget amout of tax and that there are a great % of people that do not pay any tax. These things need to be detailed by the McCain camp..
Staying above the “frey” for Obama – shows he thinks if he ignores the connections – they will go away – make sure they do not go away. His elite attitude shows through . Obama ignored Rev Wright and Fleager – until finally he had to put them “under the bus”. Keep pounding the FACTS…

Mcain should be stressing Obama’s connection with the heads of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. Ayers and Resko are important, but the campain contributions Obama received from Fannie and Freddy should be of even greater concern. You should also say something about the “UN-Fairness Doctrine” and what judges Obama would appoint to the federal courts. Mcain lost the election when he voted for the bailout. Too bad Sara isn’t on top of the ticket! The Fed worried about credit drying up if the bailout didn’t pass. Wouldn’t that be awful? Imagine, no loans for vusinesses or people who can’t or don’t intend to repay them!! I guess the uneducated and over-educated folks who are voting for Obama will be getting what they deserve! I just hope we survive it like we survived Jimmy Carter.

I actually wanted to shed some light on Barack Obama’s much-obscured past, you might start with a portrait of Frank Marshall Davis, the man Obama calls his “mentor” while he was growing up in Hawaii.

Obama cleverly uses only Davis’ first name when writing about him in his autobiography, “Dreams of My Father.” Is that because he knew full well that Davis was a top operative of the American Communist Party, who spent most of his time in Hawaii taking photographs of the U.S. naval station there and spotting young recruits?

To find out the truth about Davis, you could talk to Cliff Kincaid and Herb Romerstein of Accuracy in Media, who have done tremendous research on Frank Marshall Davis. (Here’s betting that the media wouldn’t dream of interviewing either of them).

They also could run a portrait of William Ayers, the former SDS Weatherman who beat a murder rap after spending close to a decade running from the police. Ayers went on to sponsor Obama on the board of the Annenberg Challenge and launched Obama’s political career at his Chicago home in 1995.

And why not profile the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the racist black nationalist pastor in Chicago who Obama says “brought me to Jesus,” and whose sermons Obama proudly asserts he listened to “every Sunday” for more than 20 years?

This is the same Jeremiah Wright whose sermons saying “G-Dam America!” have been caught on videotape and posted on the Internet, forcing Obama belatedly to renounce their 20-year friendship.

If NBC News really were interested in digging into Obama’s past, it would want to investigate his ties to Khalid Al-Mansour, the former mentor of the Black Panther Party, who later became a Black Muslim nationalist and top advisor to Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

Harlem political icon Percy Sutton says Al-Mansour has been raising money for Obama and asked Sutton in 1988 to write a letter to help Obama get into Harvard Law School.

Finally, You might want to find some of Obama’s classmates from Columbia University, where he transferred in 1981 after two uneventful years at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

Fox News tracked down 400 people who had been at Columbia at the same time as Obama, and not one had any recollection of him. Isn’t that curious.

Americans know an awful lot about John McCain. For the past 26 years, he has been a public person. And scores of witnesses have come forward to tell us about his youth, especially his five and a half years as a POW in North Vietnam.

But America knows almost nothing about Barack Obama — and let’s not forget, he is running for president, too.

Pardon me for running late, I’m watching a delayed DVR. Anyway, Tucker Bounds does not get it. Obama will kill McCain on this argument. It’s juvenile and unimportant when compared to the economy and Obama’s ties to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I hope the McCain camp gets a clue pretty darn quick because right now their strategy is blowing it.

I don’t think it’s an either/or situation re: whether to focus on economy vs character. Obama’s association with Ayers and Wright and Rezko and A.C.O.R.N. show a patter of behavior, not just a series of coincidences. That pattern shows a lack of judgement when it shows his tendency to associate with people and organizations that have anti-American and/or socialist beliefs. That lack of judgement should make people question what he’s REALLY going to do if he’s elected.

OBTW…Sen Obama may have been 8 yrs old, in 1968, when Ayers helped bomb US targets but he was an adult with an agenda when he welcomed Ayers’ support of the kickoff of his political career in 1995.

I believe that its not just an issue of “Ayers” or the “Economy” but its about covering all important aspects of the critical weaknesses of your opponent that are valid concerns of the American People.
I could just see Obama palling around with Akmadinajad to try to convince to stop his nuclear program.

If the American public does not take into consideration the character of the business associates of the man applying for the job as President of the United States they are sadly mistaken. To downplay who Barack Obama hangs out with is very dangerous at best. You are who you hang with and the American people who pay no attention to these “seemingly innocent” associations are blinded from the truth.

There are a lot of us that have been aware of Obama’s shady connections and have been waiting for SOMEONE to start the conversation. (Thanks, Sarah!) It isn’t just Bill Ayers, it’s Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, his association with ACORN (which he has denied but there are newspaper articles online from that time period that say otherwise so it appears he is lying).

I am concerned about his Socialist/Marxist background. Too many of his “mentors” were either members of the Communist Party or were on the fringes. Obama does not ever really answer many questions about his past relations and is more inclined to refer to questions about them as distractions. He doesn’t want to get involved in a discussion – too many chickens may come home to roost if there is too much inspection.

(I can send links that raise a LOT of questions and give a lot of generally unknown answers about his formative years)

I believe that all the Polls are more suspect this time than ever before. Polls can easily be skewed by the question asked, the areas called and even the voice of the person asking the question.

For some reason Americans seem to have a built in guilty conscious. An example is that if a person criticizes any action by Israel, he or she is an anti-semite. If a man criticizes a female politican he’s a sexist. And if anyone criticizes a black candidate they are a racist. This fact alone can skew a poll. Contrary to a lot of people who keep trying to shove us back into past, most Americans are truly trying to no longer judge by race, religion or sex but by the character and actions of people.

How many of those responding to Polls are giving the response out of that sense of guilt and will they carry it into the voting booth. Unfortunatly, some people have made their choice only on the basis of race and sex already and won’t even look into the backgrounds, policies or character of the candidates.

Good Morning: I agree with tying questionalbe associations to Obama–who you run with is generally where your morals are. However, I believe the best attack would be the economic issue and tying Obama, Pelosi, Frank, & Company (and the Dems in general) to this mess clear back to Roosevelt and government’s bailout during the depression in the late 20s, and how they continued to loosen credit and ultimately brought this mess upon the taxpayer. How are voters supposed to evaluate a political candidate that has absolutely no history of leadership? The only way it can be done is based upon associations and judgment. We can conclude this because of the glowing letter to Obama written by his son, L. David Alinsky, after the DNC convention in August. The letter was published in The Boston Globe on August 31, 2008. The title of the letter is “Son sees father’s handiwork in convention”… Look it up folks.

I just was watching Kevin Farley telling about his brother, Chris. Yesterday there was a movie called Black Sheep and Tommy Boy on cable. Black Sheep was about voter fraud…………how funny considering there seems to be that going on in Ohio.

I think the character strategy is sound and should be expanded, in fact, to include Obama’s socialism, revenue distribution approach to running America. What makes America strong is the ability for people to get ahead by working hard. If the hard-working people have to “donate” more of their money to pay the government to inefficiently and uneffectively run more programs, then what will be the incentive for people to work hard???? Obama’s views about the government solving all our problems is not the right solution. McCain needs to hit harder on government reform, business NOT as usual, and Obama’s character and far-left liberal views.

Despite 9/11 and Katrina this country’s economy did very well during Bush’s two terms in office. He and Bill Clinton saw what was happening with Freddie and Fannie. Bush and McCain tried to do something about it, but it was met with resistance by the Democrats that were profiting from their association with those agencies. The black caucus even played the race card and claimed the calls for oversight were just a political lynching.

People need to take a hard look at just what happened and quit trying to pin it all on a Republican president.

This has influenced his wife…after all, she has NOT been proud to be a american ……Until her husband started running for president…now she is proud…

Apparently Obama is a man who has dastardly, American hating associations, is the second highest profiting receipient of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, has a ground breaking history as a “community organizier” leading struggling inner city citizens to ACORN which is responsible for unresponsible facillitation of aquiring mortgages for people who weren’t/aren’t qualified largely contributing to a most recent National economic crisis who now says it was a noble cause to want to provide every American with the American dream of homeownership..as if this was a charitably driven organization when in fact these people and our economy were misled deliberately for PROFIT, considers only “white” people typical, has a 96% liberal voting record, says small town Americans are wonderful when he’s in PA but believes really they are gun clinging and God fearing because they are bitter and frustrated to his rich friends in San Francisco, attended -with his small children that encompassed their entire lives- a militant church led by a militant wanna be pastor for 20 years then ditches him because he had no idea Wright was what he was exposed to be but in reality simply realized he’s going to lose votes, fully supported his own wife stating only because Obama in the has gotten this far in the campaign she is poud of this country for the first time in her life, says he will only sing to the National Anthem if the song were “I’d like to teach the world to sing”, refused to wear a flag on his lapel until he showed up for the DNC… proves to me Obama is so void of character, so void of anything the American President should be it is almost unimaginable anyone could possible find the ability to even consider him for the office!

Add all the things that either has already been exposed or hanging in the balance and you will find a BIG ZERO!

If what we already know isn’t enough for him to be disqualified from this race and the Senate then I don’t know what is.

Character matters, it is just that simple. All of Obama’s associations with the radicals have proven that the Chicago “machine” did their job to try and get a radical into the highest office in the land. I am so glad Fox is finally bringing more of this up.

There are needs in many community’s for Election Judges, Poll watchers and the like. Most party’s are looking for people who are willing to become available for elected positions. Getting involved and putting your money where you mouth is, is what is important. Blogging is great, but attendance at rally’s, small town America involvement is what is also vital to making a difference. Showing up at political breakfast’s, phone banking, walking in neighborhoods and the like is critical at getting out the message to people who are missing the boat. Get involved even though your life is stressed and busy. Take time to make CHANGE. Change starts in your neighborhoods, churches, service groups. For way to long people have been saying to never mix politics and religion as that is taboo to discuss. If our founding fathers thought this way, I ask all of you to consider, would we have the United States of America today? Our founding fathers heatedly debated, and heavily paid a price for their thoughts and desires of a better way for people to live. Remember the Boston Tea Party? It is time to throw out the current elected officials, change it up and vote out every single current politician. They have been there for way to long. If we desire change, then let’s get a bunch of new faces, thoughts and really let these elected officials know, the WE, the PEOPLE have spoken before it is to late. The elected officals are paid by WE the People via our tax dollars. The elected offical is suppose to be OUR VOICE. The majority is not being listened to as far as I can tell, few wanted this bailout package, yet it was passed because the people really don’t know what is best for us? When 300 economist say this is not the solution and yet 700 billion tax dollars are imposed so quickly? What about the issue of drilling? What about high gas prices? What happened to that talk? The power of the Obama campaign to silence the media is almost as frightening as the story itself. The Obama supporters immediately invoke “Swift Boat”, or “racial” or something equal to shutting up anyone who wants to report the facts. Silencing those that would tell us the information Bill Ayers, who was before my time seems wrong. Barney Frank meant nothing to me until a week ago. Knowing that he represents Obama’s party is worrisome. If “change we can believe in” is his slogan, tell me what this change idea might be rooted in. That’s going to come from those he associates with or empathizes with. For years I’ve been hearing that character is formed within the first 5 years and therefore paramount to how children will view things when they grow up. Should I scrap that now that its Obama we’re talking about? In fact, I shouldn’t worry about what he thought in his teens or early college days either? For that matter, should I accept that what he said 2 months ago about sitting down with Iran’s president without pre-conditions wasn’t what he meant, just because he later realized that didn’t go over well? Ahhh…but does he truly believe he’s right? And if he were to be elected would he insist that he was right, and go forward with the idea after all?

Right now I can’t shake the idea that Obama has alot of input from Move On, and George S. I can’t help imagining a shadow government behind Obama’s rise and presidency. I can’t help it. I see my state allowing this early voting at the insistance of the Democrats and now watch how they are committing voter fraud to get their man elected, and I have a terrible doom and gloom feeling that the Change we’re heading toward is one that Vladamir Putin is probably cheering on with great enthusiasm.

Well I am bleary eyed from “actually” reading Obama’s health care plan. I am pleased that I did because I found out some interesting facts and I won’t spill the beans here, but I have sent the information to those who will fact check it so as not to raise any alarms before the truth is determined. I am not an insider and I don’t claim to be working for either campaign, as a matter of fact I have not made up my mind; I honestly do not want my fingerprints on anything that sends this country over the cliff. I am still p..Ooops upset with McCain for caving and giving in to his party leaders’ demands and actually voting for the bailout. He would have clinched this election if he had stuck to his guns and said “let the bums burn” and said NO to the pork that was added and get a “clean” bill signed like was originally promised. Speaking of that I also started to read the over 450 page, 700 section plans and have you seen what is in this? I have watched a guy’s show with the initials GB and he is actually naming names of who is getting what and those in their states should write them, call them, email them and tell them just how ticked you are and frankly any who can be voted out this year should be! How about this one? For corporations operating in America Somoa $33 million for…wait…she was holding the line on earmarks…you are correct NANCY PELOSI’s family!!!!! Rum producers $192 million don’t know who got that, but I can guess How about this one Film and TV producers $10 million and the prize goes to ding, ding, ding Schiff & Sherman of the great state of Califorkinyoureye. Months ago they said to everyone who had a problem paying their mortgage; CALL your bank and renegotiate you mortgage; banks do not want to manage properties. It costs them way too much money to manage, and then sell; they would rather lose a little on interest and extend the payments then to lose the entire balance due. Where was Congress on that idea several long months ago?

Comment about poor paying taxes-POOR DO NOT PAY TAXES as many of them draw welfare & welfare payments are not taxed or work at day labor jobs that are also not taxed. The lower middle class-after tax breaks get back every dime that they pay in taxes. If you make 20,000. a year & have one child you do not pay taxes, if they took out withholding from your paycheck (assuming you have one) then it is refunded to you when you file your taxes.

Agree with Palin…Obama doesn’t see America the way the majority see America…Obama is a citizen of America (or the world), but isn’t an American. Voters are either not listening to “fair & balanced” news or don’t care that character matters as he “buys” their votes. Economy is important, but so is character. Two tax codes (which would be no more confusing than current) & each party pay to their own tax base to be spent on what each party considers important, not to mention since Dems would have Hollywood they couldn’t holler about being stuck with all the poor. The Dems can then spend all they want to socialize this country & become one with the world, the Rep side can deal with keeping America free & with a free economy system. Dems can invite everyone they want to set down with “their” govt & Rep can cont to not choose to interact with our enemies. Dems can go green, Rep can drill baby drill. Of course the Dems get to take most of Congress on their side (hmm Nancy, Dodd, Frank, etc all the good honest folks) & Rep get to elect new ones. Of course the Dems will get all the illegal aliens since for the most part Rep don’t support illegal immigration-remember the Rep side is Constitutional based which means that majority rules. Then each side gets its own Supreme Court. Guess the Dems can cut Homeland Security since Dems always surrender anyway, but that is okay Rep will be glad to have the Homeland Security. Of course since Obama hates guns (don’t even start he has supported gun bans) Dems don’t get to keep them, so Rep get all the guns. Dems can worry continually about pleasing Europe & being European while Rep can remain American & who cares if Europe especially the cowardly French like us.

In case anyone is too ignorant to know this is sarcastic. Does anyone remember the last President elected from Illinois? How did that election divide this county? I believe this one will divide the country even more due to Obama’s extreme beliefs-& of course at this point his handlers will jump in & holler unfair, racist, etc. That is not true-it is critical who he has associated with. He can deny Rev Wright all he wants-but fact is he not only attended his church he exposed his children to this man-so is he a terribly bad ignorant parent or what? Explain that away. The Bible that Obama claims to believe in states that the man is responsible for the religious education of family. He denies listening to his preacher for 20 yrs-so is he saying that no one in his family listened? So why were they going to church? Less than 2 yrs in the Senate (time on campaign trail does not count) & he takes 3rd on list of fannie/freddie contributors. At least he is expert on election stealing as evidenced by his very close working ties with ACORN-who has been convicted of VOTER FRAUD. Does no one recognize the serious ramifications of Obama stealing this election?

Well, we got in this economic mess because of a lack of character! So I think it makes perfect sense to focus on CHARACTER!! We need a person who stands on principles, not someone who just enjoys popularity!! Character is far more important. If you have good character the rest will follow.

How can one not point out that one’s opponent is a far-left man who could not obtain a top secret security clearance due to his past associations and the mysteries of his Columbia University years. The background check would not qualify him! Yet he wants to be President of the United States. This is a bizarre situation.

And the “I was 8 years old when Ayers bombed the Pentagon” excuse doesn’t fly. What if McCain had been given his start in politics by Adolph Hitler? Would the excuse “I was only 8 years old when Hitler was gassing the Jews” suffice?

Would that the news media had given some thought to that statement.

As far as William Ayers, I think anyone with a computer can research this and make their own judgement. We are not a nation of lemmings, we do think for ourselves and if there is evidence out there we can find it. But that being said, the fact that Obama GOT HIS feet wet in the political arena with the aid of William Ayers, makes one wonder just what his intentions were when he decided to go the political route. I remember back in 68 the thought was to fight the establishment, then it changed to join the establishment and fight from within. That seems to be the focus of Obama if you actually follow his path all the way back to his college days and see what groups he was and still is affiliated with.

Someone who sits for 20 years in Reverend Wright’s church and only disavows him after the political winds shifted isn’t a man of character, he is a man of convenience. People may laugh off the idea that you can tell alot about a person by who he is associated with, but truthfully people do tend to hang around others who think like they do. So if Obama has friends and associates with radical views, I think it is fair to say so does he. he said and I myself have tried to get this point across many times, in 2006 January on Meet The Press and I quote

“This is what you told the Chicago Tribune last month: “Have you ruled out running for another office before your term is up?” Obama answer: “It’s not something I anticipate doing.” But when we talked back in November of ‘04 after your election I said, “There’s been enormous speculation about your political future MR. I saw Burton on Fox today saying that associations should not be an issue. However, the Obama camp has consistently tried to associate McCain with Bush. Obama had a 20 year relationship with a pastor who often makes anti-American comments…I think the American people need to be informed before voting on the highest office.

More and more people are beginning to see through the smoke screen that you Liberals are putting up and most of the people have seen the obvious bias of your friends at the “Mainstream News Media”, their ratings speak well of that fact.

In the environmental world I have battled your friends here for 12 years and I have them figured out to a tee, in fact all of the environmentalists act the same way. This is why I’ve scored many victories against them even though they own our state legislature. Yet once the common everyday members of these environmental groups realize what their organizations are truly up to their rosters will get much smaller. To date with all of their members combined these groups only represent 4% of our state’s population.

My husband and I cannot believe the naivety of people believing that a man with the name of Barak Hussein Obama could be the best candidate for our American President. In fact, please mention that more, his middle name. He is not only the most liberal thinking candidate, but his ideas for the ecomony and healthcare, sound like a state of socialism to us. There has been so much on the internet about him, (i.e. his mother was an atheist, his father a muslim; he doesn’t want to salute the flag; his associations with that preacher and others, etc., etc.,) We are not speaking against him, we are merely repeating what has already been proved by others. The Bible says people’s hearing will be dulled in times like these, and their conscience will be seared by a hot iron. I believe we are living in these last day times. We need a strong leader, or leaders, ones who seek God and His Wisdom, and truly want to make the right kind of changes for all Americans in this country. The majority of Americans, I believe feel this way. We would like to see Senator McCain and Governor Palin come out forcefully and just tell the truth about what they actually believe they can accomplish in Washington and it won’t hurt for them to be sure the public does know the truth about Obama without slinging mud of course. Let me begin by saying we so enjoy the show every morning! The crew is awesome!

As for Sarah Palin highlighting significant points regarding Obama’s relationships from his past, I believe this is crucial. Who a person associates with speaks volumes about a person. Bad character corrupts good character! I don’t trust Obama and have a sense that he has a hidden agenda. He is a smooth talker. I don’t understand why the media does not examine the key issues about him, his past and his empty promises in more detail.

McCain and Palin balance each other very well. While he has tremendous experience, he is also a man who comes from a generation where people worked hard and have a solid foundation of strong values. Palin too stands firm on her value system, and she has a keen sense of the direction she would like to take the country in. While I agree she does not have the strong foreign policy experience, she is strong in so many other areas. She is a great role model for young girls today.

McCain needs to come out strong for the next 30 days and attack the weak points of Obama. The truth about Obama and his plans (or lack thereof) needs to be revealed.We need McCain and Palin in the office!

Democrats always have ‘The Media’ on their side and they will butcher their opponents while Republicans remain ‘civilized’. It’s about time we have a legitimate politician in the person of Sarah Palin that can say the truth about the present Democratic ticket of Obama/Biden. Lets not forget, these two are LAWYERS and IF any sensible person believes what they say, God bless them. I cannot vote for Obama because he is insincere, dishonest and has a long history of being associated with ‘bad people’ —that is not the kind of President we need. Obama will promise the gullible populace everything in order to get into office. Responsible Americans that work and contribute to our Treasury Dept. need to WAKE-UP and get off their couch and vote responsibly; as we speak able-bodied people who do not work are voting for the democratic ticket, some are being picked up by ACORN staff and taken to the polls in Ohio. REMEMBER, if Obama/Biden win, they will raise taxes on ‘the rich making > $250K — that means: 1] most businesses will have to lay-off employees to make-up for increased taxes, 2] some businesses will disappear, 3] prices at the stores/restaurants for example will GO-UP, 4] unemployment will be very high, 5] yes, major business will OUTSOURCE work to foreign countries (remember NAFTA that Clinton passed and the sucking-sound Ross Perot warned us about). I’m afraid the issue of character in both politics and journalism has all but died in our country. Certain Politicians are given passes despite violating their professional ethics, certain journalists continue to violate the fundimentals of their profession based on the Journalist’s Creed written by Walter Williams founder of the Missouri School of Journalism.

It appears since the attitude “What goes on in one’s private life should not be a factor in one’s professional life”, I’m referring to former President Clinton’s sexual encounter with a female in the Oval Office, people are more focused on a mans politics rather than his ethics.

I would have to say the issue of the economy is more effective based on my opinion above.

I know this was not your show but can you help? Who was the absolutely vile woman contributor on Sunday morning who described Sara Palin’s baby as an “it” and was disgusted by the fact that she “brings it on stage and parades it around with her”?
That kind of mindset is beyond reprehensible and should have been challenged immediately. Further, I believe I heard the host of the show say that Ms. Palin is obviously not a “deep thinker.” There was nothing fair and balanced about that segment. I believe the host was a reporter and not supposed to be an advocate for any particular candidate.

The Secret Service as well as other agencies have investigated thouroughly his background and found that the only way Barack Obama can gain security clearance is if he becomes Commander and Cheif. Why does the Obama camp want to leave the character issue? It’s because his character is so flawed and his choices and judgement so bad.

When we do get back to the issues, let’s point out the Democrat’s culpability and Obama’s culpability in getting us in the financial mess we’re in. Yes, Republicans share some blame for not fighting the problem strongly enough, but Dems not only created the problem, they fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie and defended them as not needing reform and continued pushing sub prime, no down payment loans for people who couldn’t pay them back.

Bush warned Congress 17 times. Alan Greenspan warned Congress at least once. McCain cosponsored reform legislation and spoke for the reform from the Senate floor.

The Dems blocked the vote. The committee vote went down party lines, Republicans for reform, Dems against it.

As someone who has had to apply for national security clearances, I can assure you if I had had the same relationship with Bill Ayers, I would never have been granted a security clearance. Should Obama be treated differently.

How about this question for the debate…Mr Obama, when your daughters begin dating how would you feel about them dating a young man that was in the past involved with a gang? Would past behavior and associations make a difference? Why is it different for a presidential campaign?

Yes Obama’s past should be out front. We have never, ever been told the full truth about his friendship with Ayers or other connections he has both with Acorn and Fanny and Freddie.

Judgment and character should be a huge issue! How many politicians have we seen who have been unfaithful to their spouses? If their spouses cannot trust them why should we believe that they have good judgment and integrity? We have lots of congresspeople with 20 years of experience but has it helped us? How about judgment. If you cannot show integrity to the person you are married to then where do you draw the line? If they can’t trust you why should I? No matter what you say how do I know that you mean it. Are commitments made to be broken? Issues are really important but I need to know that you can commit and not just say what you know we want to hear.

Good judgment and character are qualities you can depend on. Experience counts for little without the other qualities. One other issue. I live in Illinois. How come it is not an issue that Obama voted present 120 times in the state legislature? Was he afraid he would offend someone and be held accountable later?

McCain is a womanizer, has bad temper, uses foul language in public and the Senate, called his wife a deplorable name in front of people is an adulterer, has many advisors that are directly linked to Freddie & Fannie, involved in the Keating 5 and his wife that admited drug addiction and stole from her charity.

I think McCain should learn from Hillary. She tried to get people to take a look at him and they accused her of personal attacks, booed her in a debate etc. Let Hannity and others bring up the relatioships. Let the RNC audit the donation trail etc. but use your limited time in the spotlight to take the high road and offer solutions.

McCain has a long record of supporting the free market economic principles of capitalism, NOT socialistic bailouts. Obama attacks McCain for his record of de-regulation and allowing the free market to police itself via natural consequences. McCain blew it by voting for the bailout. He needs to let the American people (the fundamentals of our economy) know that he didn’t like it, realizes that we don’t like it and didn’t want it and that he will do everything that he can to return us to the principles of free market economics when he takes the White House. He needs to explain that he is not in the White House right now and that he wanted to work with the current cabinet and the bulk of the representatives to try to do something. He needs to recall Ronald Reagan’s words about the scariest words in America ….from gov’t, “I’m from the federal government and I’m here to help.”
He needs to reassert his belief in US, the people of the U.S. and his confidence that just like the greatest generation brought us through a depression and two world wars with Victory Gardens, rationing and bonds, this generation will suck it up and work with him to make the hard decsions and to reclaim our economy for its greatest strength, the American worker and the American small business man.

IF he does that he will get my vote. I didn’t want to vote for a Republican this year because I dislike Bush intensely and resented the Republican abandonment of Reagan principles. I sure don’t want to vote for a Socialist, Duplicious, Opportunist who may be the greatest sleeper cell leader of all time. With the collaspe of the finance system, the entire dynamics of the campaign changed. The McCain campaign has failed to grasp the opportunity. McCain needs to spell out a detailed economic recovery and growth plan. This is an opportunity for McCain to show that he adapts to changing situations. Obama has stuck with his original plan (increasing taxes and spending) which is inappropriate now that the economic picture has changed. McCain points out whats wrong with Obama’s plan, but offers little but criticism. I believe a comprehensive plan would go a long way to giving some optimism to Wall Street and he has the opportunity to show he will have a positive impact. Obama is a cautious politician and will not change his proposals, because he is winning at this point in time. Unless, McCain can put together a daring, far reaching proposal that gains the attention of financiers and the people, he has no chance to turn around the vote in his favor. America and the world is still looking for a true and inspiring leader – the door is still open, but closing rapidly.

Liz I agree First of all when I hears that Tom the moderator chose the questions. I knew then the fix was in. I too would have watch something else if not waiting for the things I wanted to hear. One of the points I know that scares me Obama’s answer on Pakistan. His policy on what he would do in regard to going and getting the head of the terrorist in Pakistan is a big mistake. I saw the new president of the country asked that question who may not be the greatest ali said that The United States had not attack without permission. That’s all we have to do get another country against us with nuclear power against us. All I can say if I was worried before the debate did nothing to help with it. Did anyone else notice that John and Cindy McCain did not hang around long after the debate? Obama and his wife stayed after for a long while to shake hands, sign autographs, and take pics. John was nowhere to be seen which leaves me to believe that there was something wrong with him and that he was a bit more stiff looking than usual. We all know that he has severe athritis due to past war injuries but he seemed to look worse than usual during the debate. This to me was confirmed when he and Cindy disappeared so quickly afterwards.

I would have to agree with all. And good morning to all. Dull is an understatement. I had determined not to watch, but did. Yawn…when Brokaw announced HE would be picking the questions. Hummm…thought the town hall event was supposed to be a spontaneous event, driven by the participants in the “town hall meeting”, not a contrived event, “driven by the moderator”. So, the jr senator fr Illinois continues to “drive the train”, would seem, and the McCain campaign continues to let him.
ACORN continues to complicate the voting process with false documents from non existent people, so I think we can look forward to chaos, and we can with confidence, blame obaba and his minions for their support of these entities.
I am not discouraged, however. One way or the other we are going to have a new president in November, and whoever it is, has a tough fight in front of him. One way or the other, the congress is going to have to “fix” the problems we face, and as always, our representatives hold all the cards. After it is all said and done, we must continue the good fight in that venue, by letting our representatives know exactly how we feel about their bad behavior, insisting they amend that bad behavior, and take care of the very important business of government, for which they have been elected. As we listen, think and discern, and try to sort out the events of the day, this MUST remain a critical responsibility of every citizen.

Senator McCain appeared shaky, faltering, and even more pale than normal, however, his beliefs did not falter. Senator Obama seemed like the younger man he is, dynamic, charming even. Problem is those prince charmings are usually great big toads! I hope that the American people have not become so obsessed with “Personalties” (movie, television, etc.) that they be blind sided. What was Obama talking about with the Health Insurance comment? I really couldn’t follow him unless he was saying that McCain wants to change it so the insurance companies don’t have to follow state guidelines for selling health insurance in each state? I work for a major Health Insurance company and right now we have to meet the guidelines in each state to sell in that state…this is his comment from the transcript last night:

John McCain is no more a Republican then Ron Paul (a Republican) pretending to be a Libertarian. No more then Cynthia McKinney (a left wing loon) Democratic pretending to be a green party member. The debate went pretty good between the two until John McCain slipped up and made one of the biggest blunders ever. John stated that he wanted to use three hundred billion additional dollars from the middle class for the Government to directly buy home mortgages. The Republicans, especially Sarah Palin have been sprouting out that government should get out of the private sector, and that government should be small. Many Republicans said passing the bailout bill was a form of socialism Hugo Chavez of Venezuela subscribes to, and what I heard last night from John McCain was Hypocrisy. Here you have a Republican going against the very core of his party’s beliefs “a maverick”, and the Republican base is so mesmerized by Sarah Palin’s charm that they cannot see they are voting for a man who is not really a Republican. The Maverick is so desperate to win the Presidency that he is willing to plunge American deeper into a socialist type of environment by adding three hundred billion dollars more, and taking the country deeper into debt. Where is he going to get this money? America you must remember that if the Republicans win Sarah Palin will not be President, but John “Hugo Chavez” McCain will.

George Bush and John Mccain are truly more of the same. I want the troops out of Iraq and we need to beef up troops in Afghanistan. I am not a republican, but what happen to the fundamental belief of little govenment? Why are we spending more than we are taking in from taxes? When do we start paying our national debt off? People are bickering on here about who is left and who is right? The important questions are the 3 previous questions. Someone said it earlier when they said that the president proposes a budget, but the Congress have to pass the bill 1st. The next president is limited in the things they are able to do. I am voting on the next president based on supreme court justices, federal judges, and a sense of hope for that segment of the population that wants a new direction for the country. The maverick is good, but he is not the future. Obama is the future and he is going to lead this country into a better future and a better way of life for all of us.

Can someone answer the 3 important questions?

Can you please not ask Bill Burton to the show anymore? He disses Fox, disses your viewers, and tries to skirt every relevant question you ask of him by talking louder and ignoring your attempts to interrupt. He is boorish and Obama’s campaign needs to employ someone far less abrasive. I will either mute the TV the next time I see him on your channel, or turn to another network.

I don’t understand the left’s criticism of McCain’s reference to Obama’s past associations. Why was it okay when Hillary did it?! And why do they consider it negative?! It would only be negative if those associations did, in fact, reflect badly on his charactoer and judgment. I believe that whenever someone seeks the most powerful position in the world, his or her life should be an ‘open book’.

Obama’s team is crying about McCain using “negative” ads. Why is the media not stepping up to the plate and reminding people that it has been Obama going negative with jabs about McCain being “old”. Obama also approved the ads making fun of McCain’s crippled arms and fingers, and saying he can’t even e-mail by himself.
Now that is being negative and rude! Asking a Presidential candidate to be honest about the friends he hangs out with and does business with is not being negative, it’s being responsible!

The devastation that hit Ohio, with the F1 tornadic winds, is finally almost cleaned up. The debris from that storm, is still evident, but the city is busy getting it all picked up. As my sister drove up from Tex, she commented on the emergency vehicles she passed heading down to Tx. We lost power for three days, and the radio immediately reported, the governor was calling these vehicles back to Ohio, to deal with our own catastrophe. I did accuse her of bringing the storm with her!!! But, we managed just fine, with candle lite at dinner. She did see the children a lot, as they were all over at the house, eating and showering, as we are all gas, so the only thing we lost was the power to “light the night”. I brought the solar lights in, to illuminate the bathrooms, and hallway upstairs, as well as the stairs themselves, so everyone could maneuver the night safely. I also invested in the battery operated tea lights, which throw a very nice glow in the dark, and safe, as well as pretty to look at. They look so real, my hubby tried to light one when he got up for work!! I now have a battery operated tea lite, with a black tip!!! Just thought I would send an update on the “storm that hit Columbus, Ohio, on September 14th, 2008″. The city’s response team was wonderful, and other than “Dennis”, who called the radio station the evening of the storm, and thought the mayor should come and personally see to his lose of power, the citizens responded with good humor and responsibility to their neighbors and the needs of, in the true American spirit for which we are known, both as a nation, and individually. ACORN needs to get the heck out of our great state, and do their dirty business in Chicago, maybe, where they are “known and protected” by the powers that be, and stop whining about their inability to “register voters” without cheating!!!

The Dem’s always talk down the economy when running against a Republican in the white house. In 2000 the economy was “the worst since the great depression.” It wasn’t. In fact, the economy recovered nicely after 9-11, and didn’t start going down until the Dem’s came into control of Congress in 2006. Check out the stock market graphs. They started to fall in November 2006.

Why should anyone on Wall Street today hold on to stocks into 2009 when Obama is pledged to raise the capital gains tax to 35%? Could it be that the better Obama looks in the polls the worse the markets get because they’re afraid of his socialist principles? I know that I’m scared to death of him!

Everyone needs to read Barack Obama’s Economic Aganda. He is not telling the truth. Most of the tax credits are for incomes under 75,000. This is what McCain needs to be telling the American people. McCain has a “Gas Tax Holiday” which removes the 18.4 cent federal tax on gas from Memorial Day to Labor Day, top tax rate of 35%, Maintain 15% tax on dividend and capital gains, corp tax from 35% to 25%, family tax credit for insurance 5000 individual 2500 (no income max), he wants to build 45 new nuclear plants. Oh Coldhearted…dumb?? Perhaps a little lazy, but certainly not dumb, I don’t think. Each to their own, perhaps? And your issues might not be mine? Lady…your comments were interesting, I guess, however, who cares really. John McCain is not the one that brought up the military constantly, as I remember. It is part of his resume, and certainly broadens his horizons, however, like most soldiers, is not something he dwells on. My sons could have also gone to one of the military academy’s, and their grandfather probably had enough stroke to “see to things”. Due to that “stroke”, my father certainly made sure my brother didn’t go to VN, as a foot soldier! He went alright, as a pilot! Geezzz!!! And, like John McCain, is/was a hero, like his father before him, who fought in the war to end wars….hummm, guess we goofed! We are still waring all over the world, would seem. So, yes, the further up the food chain you are, the better circumstances you might find yourself in, and so it goes…..I suspect John McCain would have been a “hero”, like my brother, despite these circumstances, not because of them. And Sarah…shall we just dig a deep hole, and just throw her in??? Here’s a lady who has steered her life quite nicely it would seem. Nice husband, nice kids, good job, hard worker, nice mom and dad, would seem….I bet Alaska wishes it had suceeded, with this mess the economy is in now!!! Along with Texas, who has never thought it was really a part of the USA!!! ~~laughing~~ and that is a fact! and anyone who has lived in Texas, is well aware of that…yep, for sure. So, now I am not twenty five anymore, thank goodness!! Whew! That was a ride for sure….interesting and fun, but makes me really tired to think about it. ~~smile~~ I suggest that citizens look at the platform of the parties, and the men and woman that run those parties, and make a decision about whether they want to be a Socialist country or they wish to remain a Representative Republic, free to keep our money to spend as we wish, engaging in the capitalist principles that have made us strong. Now, that is something to think about, as we watch and listen to what each candidate is promising, realizing that these promises are probably not going to be kept, as is usually the case. Here I am, a registered Dem…voting Republican yet one more time, as I am definitely NOT a Socialist, and my beautiful party has been stolen away from me…like so many, the party has left me, and I am voting for sure..for ~~((the other party))~~ hoping grandma doesn’t jump right out of her grave, and haunt me!!!! And so it goes, and will again, in four years. We only have a few more days, and we will have a new president, and then we will find out just what that man is made of! Yes, we sure will……

Perhaps someone needs to define attack, regarding the campaigns and the ads attached. An attack would be to say something not nice or untrue about a personal matter, perhaps. An ad that addresses the person, factually/truthfully and “with dignity”, is not an attack ad. IF one wishes to be the prez, would seem their life choices, friends, voting record, “criminal” record” of associates, etc, should be “fair game”, and the candidate should be able to answer any questions like this, and indeed, should be expecting to answer these questions, if he wishes to have the support of the people. Remember to keep smiling, cause they are, and the day after the election, “they” will go right back to their lives….and they will be smiling, cause they do know they live to fight another day! Regardless, it is important to remember this is really about the representatives we send to Washington, as much as it is the person we elect as prez. Honestly Kid, I have seen Harvard grads not succeed, and beauty queens be very successful, so I don’t think that is a very good analogy, perhaps. Both are worthy endeavors, I think. One is usually not stupid if they have managed to reach the stature of Senator or Governor? So, let us not be “mean” and “nonfactual”. If you don’t like a candidate, you simply must say why…..having money is requisite, by the way, if one wishes to play with the “big boys”, generally speaking. I’m not the first to say this, but I agree:

McCain-Palin NEED to attack Obama on the shady dealings, both with his associates through his life, and financial ties to groups. Point out, to his face, the completely different and changing explanations of the Ayers connection, oh what’s the point in listing them again, there are so many issues about Obama that need to be brought up, we don’t know enough about the man that can be verified in any way… anyway.. they need to fire for effect, and stop the scattered light artillery trying to flush out their enemy. He’s already in the open, take him out.

However, they ALSO need to win on the economy, and they CAN do both. It wasn’t the republicans that got us into this mess, as the democrats keep trying to claim. Their accusations of ‘deregulation by the republicans’ being the problem is completely false, and should be pointed out. Don’t let them skate and claim innocence in a situation where both parties are at fault, and largely not the party which seems to be taking the brunt (all?) of the blame, for some reason.

I realise McCain doesn’t want to open the door in the wrong way and let Obama get in a ‘how can you reach across the isle when you’re accusing everyone of things?’ line that will stick, but really. Tell the truth about the situation, state facts that can’t be denied. No need to lob accusations, just provide the data and let the chips fall.

There has been controversy this weekend over comments made by people on the Mccain campaign trail, accusing Mccain and Palin of inciting hatred. What a joke! This coming from the democrats who have for eight years called our sitting president a terrorist and Hitler, and made movies and published books on how to assassinate the president. Where was the outrage over these actions? The fact that Obama has, in fact, been directly involved with all of these shady characters, I guess just doesn’t matter. Since when has the truth ever been an issue with liberals. So I guess the Republicans incite hatred for talking the truth, and the liberals once again get a pass on all of the hatred they push. The hypocrisy of the left just blows my mind

When the price of gas was soaring to new heights, who said she would “nationalize” the oil industry? Sheila Jackson Lee, Democrat. That’s who. And believe me, that came from her heart-she meant it. But that’s not the American way to correct a serious problem. That’s the socialist way!

Who said she would “confiscate” the obscene profits of Exon? Demo Hillary Clinton, that’s who. And she, too, meant it. Again, that’s not the American way. Isn’t that what the socialist Chavez did when he took control? We can find democratic methods of bring Exon back in line, perhaps by boycotting their stations.

Who said to Bill O’reilly on national tv. that he will take from the wealthy and give their money to the poor? Barack Obama, that’s who! And he seriously means it. Everyone who’s poor thinks that’s a great idea, but is it really? Is that the way we do business in America or is that pure Marxism?

Every business earning over $250,000 is considered wealthy and they will be hit with a tax increase.
And will Obama appoint Hillary to judge which companies are making excessive profits? Today, Exon. Tomorrow, Walmart, Google, Coke and Pepsi, all drug companies, and on and on. Where will it end. If Obama’s entitlement programs exceed revenue will the wealthy figure fall to $100,000? Wake up, Americans, we are on the road to Socialism if these people control the White House and Congress.

I clearly remember the adulation of the American people for Fidel Castro. I, too, fell for his Messianic speech. He was going to rescue Cuba and make life better for the people there. Look what happened. It is truly a shame that our young college students don’t have the benefit of experience and history. Maybe they could distinguish between HOPE and FALSE PROMISES!

This is about Boos for Palin at Hockey game in Philadelphia. Our bridge director (and longtime Obama organizer) was bragging last night about how easy it was to organize hundreds of Flyers ticket holders, complete with signs, etc., to get to the game strictly to boo Sarah Palin. He said just a few key strokes brought hundreds to the stadium to do this. He was chuckling about “What were they thinking – after all, they booed Santa Clause here, and it’s not McCain country.” I must admit, it was pretty clever of him, and stupid of the McCain people. I should know, being a conservative woman, totally surrounded by liberals. I even sleep with the enemy. My husband is a trial lawyer who at one time had dinner AT John Edwards home, and presented him with a sizable check when running for VP.

You know, it isn’t just Joe the plumber that gets hits by Obama’s plans.

My wife and I are retired high school teachers on state pensions (which limit the soc.sec. we can get).

Each of us taught 38+ years, sometimes for very limited pay.

We now teach part-time at the local college, AND between the pensions and the PT …

WE MAKE MORE THAN $250 000 per year!!!!!!!!!

But, you know, teachers and teachers’ unions are blind to the consequences of the plans laid by the Dem’s.

I Think senator Mccains new strategy will be Great. He needs to put more emphasis on Obama’s plans to turn our country into a socialistic society. If obama wins the Presidency this will surely happen. There will be no way to stop it ESPECIALLY if we allow the government to buy up all our public stocks and close the free market.

Is it not funny that Obama’s party of big goverment would go after his license. A plumbers licenses is just big goverments way of taxing and controling a working persons abilities.
