Sarah Palin’s speech

Did you watch last night?  What did you think?  What were the highlights of Palin’s speech — were there any particular catch phrases you found particularly catchy?  (I, of course, nodded off moments before she came on after I’d even stuck matchsticks in my eyelids to attempt to stay up past 9:30pm — Doh!)  So, I need your help in bringing me up to speed on it.

9:20am UPDATE — Hi again, I’m off to go sailing with Sir Richard Branson.  No, it’s not a social event — I’m covering the story that he’s trying to break the world record for sailing across the Atlantic.  And, no, I’m not going on the whole trip.  How would I be back for tomorrow’s tease?  Yes, I’ll take pictures!

Good morning Ms. Alisyn,

Like you I was in bed before the speech, but I did catch snipets of it this morning before leaving for work.

Though I think a little less Obama bashing would have been better, after the hits she has been taking for the past week, it was totally understandable.

What I heard said much about her ability to stand tall and be counted. She is not going to go curl up in a corner and cry and mis-treatment and she is not going to play nice with the press when she isn’t given her due. She is going to be a force as VP that the press isn’t going to like I believe.

That said, she is commfy in her own skin and will care less.

I think you very well may be looking at the first woman president of the US. Give her 4 or better 8 years as VP and she’ll win in a sweep.

Off topic: JimTN, sends his regards. His present training assignment vastly limits his internet time, but he wanted me to say Hi to you. ;)

Have a great day.

The speech was wonderful. She came across as very natural. By the way, the hockey mom joke has been around for over 20 years. Every hockey mom knows that joke.

PALIN for President ‘12
It’s not what she said or how she said it, It’s what she’s already done. Clean House!!!

Fantastic speech can we flip the ticket and let her be President. She made the Democrats and its MSM supporters extremely nervous last night. CNN and MSNBC were forced to actually admit Sarah Palin gave a great speech. Obama people…gave the same old tired talking points in defense of their candidate I have heard them so many times. My brain automatically tunes them out. McCain is Bush…Bush is McCain their interchangeable, complained the Republicans have nothing to offer but personal attacks.

Thank God for a strong, conservative, articulate and intelligent woman. A new political star that will probably eclipse Obama in the next election cycle was born last night. Now watch CNN, MSNBC and the Mainstream Media double their effort to destroy her reputation. I bet the local government will have to put up tents in her home town to accommodate all the network people doing opposition research on Palin. I had intended to sit out this election other than voting but I just gave my annual donation to the Republican party something I said I would not do this year. Great Speech, one to be remembered.

Good Morning Alisyn.

she did a wonderful job of the entire speech, she kept you in your seat listening. And best part to show her family is just like any other family and has ups and downs her 8 yr old licked her hand and was fixing the babys hair with her spit. cute as could be!!!

Alisyn,

I really didn’t know much about Sarah Palin before last night, and I gotta tell you, I was very impressed. Before last night, I didn’t think I could vote for John McCain, but this morning I’m seriously thinking of giving the McCain-Palin ticket a second look based on her speech.

For example, she is a great communicator. She offered solutions to our nation’s ills, not just more rhetoric. I especially liked that she was able to give examples from her time as Alaska’s governor to prove that she is ready to lead should she be called to do so. The fact that she gave back the governor’s jet and private chef is proof that she can be trusted with our tax dollars.

She also isn’t afraid to call Barack Obama out on his ridiculous “change” mantra, and to call it what it isn’t – effective in solving our nations problems.

I also liked the fact that seems to be a genuine person, and someone who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and not consult opinion polls or gather focus groups to mold her opinion of what is right and wrong.

I know that the speech was written for her, but I hope that it accurately reflects who she is a governor and who she’ll be as VP. I’ll be watching with anticipation.

Sarah Pallin was PHENOMENAL. She was smart, funny, articulate. I was so impressed by her. The speech was absolutley filled with content and delivered so professionally. There were so many quips that were perfect; for example: “And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.”
As a hockey mom myself, I loved “the difference between a hockey mom and a pit-bull? Lipstick.” I rolled on the floor laughing.
Sarah Pallin ROCKS! I am in awe.

LOVE HER!!!! Her speach moved me to tears. It was like listening to a friend talk. I felt like she has all of our interest at heart. I have no doubt she will fight for all Americans. As for her daughter she doesnt need to address her it is what it is ,she owes America no explanation ,and no insight into her situation. It does not in anyway diminish her resume of acomplishments. I too had a daughter who was pregnant at 17 . It was trying but you get through it and in in the end my grandson is such a blessing . Isnt it funny the dems have nothing more then that to go after her with they must be feeling helpless ! YOU GO Sarah we are all so proud of you!

I thought she did wonderful. She didnt get nasty about all the negative publicity about her family , she confronted it by saying her family had its ups and downs as all familys do.Vice President Palin handled herself as a natural person, no glitz and glamor etc. BUT the best part was her little girl holding the baby and decided to fix babies hair by licking her hand and then put it in babys hair to slick it down lol cute!!!!

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Sounds like that was quite a moment.

Alisyn,
It was GREAT. Her facial expressions, the tongue coming out just before she delievered the punch line, her eyes, all showed a person in complete control. She hammered her attackers. I was completely impressed that she was so comfortable under the watchful eyes of all those wanting her to fail. This Woman is the real deal. I think she’ll do just fine in any debates with Biden, even making the Old Professional Demo, look uncomfortable. She will win the fight, and come out the winner.

Comment by John

She’s topnotch. The best thing to happen in politics for 50 years. I’m sure the community organizer’s campaign manager will say “more of the same”. Don’t they have anything new to say? Do they think the American people are really that stupid? They’re going to get their butts kicked in November!

Comment by David Helgran

Sarah Palin was outstanding. I watched the speech on youtube this morning and couldn’t have been more impressed. She brought a personable and family value based attitude with a level of enthusiasm that is seldom seen in Republican politicians. I can say that not just myself, but every Marine I work with, would be extraordinarily proud of a McCain/Palin Presidency.

There are few times in ones life that an individual with character and passion come to the forefront to run for President or Vice President of the United States. Sarah Palin’s genuine style and strong abilities to address the issues and concerns of everyday people is quite refreshing. I watched the democratic convention and was amazed at the show but the content was lacking so it was quite a thrill to see the speeches hit home at Obama’s record of virtually nothing. Sarah Palin would make a great President if anything ever happened to John McCain and I for one American would not be concerned one bit. Her skills and delivery will make things happen for America.

Comment by Carolyn Brownell

What I am asking is…Why has NOBODY ever said anything about Nancy Pelosi having 5 children? Isn’t she in the chain of command and stands to (maybe) become the President, should the President and the Vice President become unable to serve? Why so many double standards here?

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Again, this is a comparison that doesn’t quite fit. Nancy Pelosi didn’t run for office until the youngest of her five children was a senior in high school. She’s was in a different stage of parenting than Sarah Palin. Maybe we should just stop asking whether mothers can also have demanding careers. We have lots of examples of women who manage to balance it somehow.

Alisyn,
In a word….AMAZING!! I was so nervous for her, but she knocked it right out of the park.. I don’t think she could have done any better! On another note, Rudy’s speech was equally great.

After the first night of the convention I was worried that it was not going to have enough energy or excitement. Well after last night my worries were dispelled. The crowd was on fire!!

Have a great day Ali.

for someone who works in Qatar (on the other side of the world), it was a breath of fresh air. i am solid conservative but i loved seeing a woman with such strength and conviction in what she believes. Governor Pailn did exactly what she had to do. She let the public get to know her, she talked about John McCain and she took on the Democrats. she did all this with grace, charm and without anger.
A quote that seems to have been missed was “…. and often with great challenges comes great joy.” She was sincere and believeable. She walks the walk.

Comment by Randy in Richmond

Sarah Palin’s speech did exactly what needed to be done–light a fire under or in people to get them excited about John McCain and his run for the Presidency. It was broad in scope but specific about what’s wrong with the other candidate. In personality she compliments John McCain perfectly and I can tell from the internet blogs the Dems. are scared to death. Time will tell.

Can I go off subject? I know you have to toe the company line but O’Reilly has really ticked off many of his viewers. He has obviously been courting Obama for months for an interview that most people will not watch. Yea, I know it’s a journalistic thing and I understand that, but to give in to Obama, most likely leave and go meet him, and do the interview on the night of the other candidate’s acceptance speech, is quite frankly, stupid. I visit lots of blogs, Gretawire included and believe me, people are ticked off. And I don’t mean just a few people–I mean hundreds and hundreds. We aren’t dumb out here. We know Obama is using this to deflect from McCain and he isn’t going to get in a position where someone like O’Reilly will have a “gotcha” moment. I will not watch O’Reilly tonight. As I said above, time will tell. I know you will be loyal, but out of curiosity is there any sense of this at your level? I realize you are in NY and not Minn.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

I feel strongly that anytime O’Reilly has an opportunity to question a previously unavailable presidential candidate, he should take it.

Good Morning Alysin,

She did good last night, I’ll admit, but can she handle the real problems of America? I believe she could handle the energy crisis, but what about foriegn policy, national security, th eeconomy? I guess we’ll have to see how she handles herself in the debates against Joe Biden. Joe’s been around a while and has experience with all of those issues.

I hope……for the sake of this nation…..that we’re not going to elect the next President of the United States based on that individuals choice for Vice President. Let’s keep our focus on Obama vs. McCain!

I still think you should have come to Minnesota!!! You’re welcome anytime!

Comment by Gary Lee

Good Morning Alisyn,
My name is Gary and I am from Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. I thought Sarah Palin did an excellent job on her speech. I thought even though she took some shots at the Democrats, they were nothing compared to what she has been receiving in the news lately. If they want to put her down for being a mother, why not put down all the mothers in the military who leave home for unknown amounts of time? If they are going to put down Sarah Palin for being a mother then I think, in all fairness, they should put down all working mothers. Someone in the national news media needs to bring this point up and see how the feminist groups like it. Where are they? Why haven’t they come to the defense of Sarah Palin? Thank You for doing a good job broadcasting the news like it should be, Fair and Balanced, keep up the good work. Have a good day, Gary Lee.

Comment by Deanna Smith

I watched every minute of Palin’s speech and those leading up to her speech. She did an outstanding job with the speech. Critics have said it was written for her and she did a great job with the teleprompter – Obama has a speech writer too. Palin delivered the speech with confidence! The best line for me was, and I’m paraphrasing: some people use change to build a career but McCain uses his career for making changes. WOW~

Comment by james fuzzell

Sarah Palin’s speech was super, but it was ‘pale-in’ comparison to Rudy G.’s speech. He hit homer after homer in my opinion and really cut Obama off at the knees. I’m concerned here though. Palin is gonna really struggle against Biden in the debates, just watch. Not that she will lack in style, substance, or content, but the shear force of his beligerant personality is going to really overshadow anything she has to say. It will take a strong, unbiased moderator and network to prevent this and keep the playing field/response times even.

Comment by chas

Now I’m more impressed since I’ve watched the entire speech.

Is there any way we can find out the authors of it? I’d like to know how much of Sarah was actually in it.

Ali,
I just heard Biden speak on Fox and Friends, attacking Palin’s speech. He again mentioned a time line for Iraq. WILL SOME ASK THE DEMOCRATES WHAT THEIR TIME LINE IS FOR BOSNIA? Clinton and General Clark sent troops into Bosnia, and no one has asked for a time line to bring them home. They are still there!

No problem with Sarah when you are true to yourself and family but O’Reilly is an NBC “DOOFUS’ for having an Obama interview same nite as McCain’s acceptance speech.MCCain let him have the WHOLE nite even with a congratulatory remark.

Gov Palin shined last night. Her speech made me wish I was from Alaska and hope that she is our next VP. I believe John McCain made the right choice when he selected Gov Palinfor his VP. I am looking forward to seeing her debate Joe Biden. The best way to describe the speech last night, I will use an “Emeril-ism”…BAM-another notch!

Comment by Dawn

I think Sarah Palin did an awesome job. For those of you who question her experience in the foreign affairs have you paid attention to the candidate for President on the Democratic ticket he doesn’t have any experience in any area.

Comment by Helen from MASSACHUSETTS

Well Good Morning Alisyn,

I saw the entire speech ~ I say she definitely hit a homerun!! She showed that she has the experience as a mom, PTA member, mayor and governor. She worked her way up. Unlike Obama who has been lifted by others into the spot he is in. I loved her comparison of her REAL LIFE experience to Obama’s “community organizer skills.” My first concern as a mother is the safety of our country. She showed us last night that she IS strong and gave me the impression that she will not cower to the liberal media or those who are out to bring down the USA. She addressed the need to deal with the “terrorist states” unlike Obama who wants to meet with their leaders without preconditions. Next comes the economy and oil. She has a multi-faceted approach to energy and I think that in itself will help to turn the economy around by created jobs and lessen our dependence of foreign oil. The pundents are saying that she didn’t address healthcare, retirement programs, yada yada yada.. What they don’t seem to understand was that this speech last night was not for the pundents~ this was to introduce her self to the Republican convention and the PEOPLE of the country. The other points will be addressed later when she gets to debate Joe Biden. I think she did a fine job. I am going to make my first contribution ever to a political party!

By the way, the children appear well adjusted to me. I have 4 of my own and know what it takes to raise a family. We all have ups and downs. The best highlight of the children was when the camera panned to the youngest daughter holding the new baby lovingly and licked her hand and patted down his hair. Priceless! Sarah has all the qualities that I would look for in any friend or leader. I think she is caring, yet tough and unrelenting when it comes to standing up for her values. Ethics means a lot to me. I believe that we have lost a lot of our values and ethics in America and it has affected so many facets of American life. She will bring integrity to the White House!

If you get a chance watch her and Rudy Guiliani’s speeches in their entirety. I’m still waiting for Obama to tell us what he HAS done and what he will do and HOW he will do it.

I think the more we see of her the more the polls will go up in John McCain’s favor.

Have a lovely day!
Helen

Good Morning Alisyn,
I think Palins speech was Spectacular, she took the liberal media on,
and Obama on his experience as a community organizer, and the executive experience she has as mayor and a Governor, she talked about small town mayors, I like the way she said, being a mayor is its almost the same as a community organizer I guess, other then we actually make dicisions, and as Governor she made final decisions in runnig the state of Alaska,
shes a breath of fresh air, she down to earth, and in touch with reality,
and the American people can relate too,
and I think she will be a great Vice President.

Comment by Paul Tewksbury

She nailed it! Sarah Palin rose to the occasion, made herself right at home, and delivered a great speech. She is right were she belongs and the nation has long needed someone like her. Many have made her children an issue. I am wondering how much time JFK’s children spent in the Whitehouse. Picutures of JFK’s children in the Oval Office have gone down in history.

Comment by Mark H.

What a great choice. She is going to force the Democrats to actually show who they are. Anti gun, pro abortion, bias for liberalism and not equal rights and opportunity, and they can’t keep harping on her experience without bringing B.H. Obama’s lack thereof to the forefront as well.

Plus, if McCain wins, she will have the upper hand on Hillary in 2012 for first women president. They all have to be having night fits with this pick, as evidence by the MSM bashing-when do they generally care this much about VP?

The only problem is her continuing to overshadow McCain. Hmm, maybe that isn’t so bad either?

Great to see you during the week again. Nice color this morning. Can you stand a little farther back from the camera, though? I always like to see what shoes you are wearing (ahem).

Sarah was great and beautiful and forceful and strong.

But PLEASE, PLEASE–stop with the comparisons of sexism against Hillary Clinton. HRC had 15 years of free passes and being built up by the media before being thrown overboard for the next “big thing” Barack Obama. Gov. Palin didn’t even get 15 minutes.

If she had aborted her baby, or her daughter had, they would be pinning a medal on her!

BIG kudos to Gretchen for pointing out to Howard Wolfson that Obama can defend Gov. Palin’s family’s privacy while HIS media goes on the attack. Well done…Gretchen. I don’t think I’ve seen Brian and Steve so excited either! Great job guys!

Comment by Danielle

I was unimpressed. I’m still left wondering (Obama attacks aside) specfically what makes her qualified for VP and to be Commander in Chief if needed? Will someone, anyone, answer specificaly (I know all about Obama) I now need to know what makes her qualified. That question was still left unanswered. What is her stance on education, the economy, foreign policy, abortion, sex education in schools. These issues mean more to me than whether someone can give a good speech (Obama included). I have seen Obama for 19 months, he has plead his case. I’ve seen her for one week, and instead of pleading her case she attacks Obama. Someone, anyone tell me why I should vote for this ticket – concrete, valid reasons. I am a mother also, but I don’t believe I am qualified to be Vice President only because I am a mother.

Comment by Ray

I had not intended to vote this year because I just didn’t think either party had anyone I felt I could believe in or trust…………until last night. Mrs. Palins speech convinced me to vote and vote for she and John McCain. She came across as down to earth, modest and knowledgeable. I felt like she could be the woman next door. If John McCain doesn’t deliver a great speech tonight I’ll still vote for their ticket. Many people I know feel the same way. Previous to Mrs. Palins speech, friends were not voting or on the fence (the lesser of two evils) but they haave now been swayed by Mrs. Palin. By the way, all news and talk shows are wasting their time having the political “pundits” give their opinion on this election. They continue to “think” that they speak for the general public and I can assure you that they do not!

Alysin,

What a class act Sarah P is! The speech was great and I just couldn’t stop smiling. The whole convention has been classy though, so no surprise. My very very favorite were the shots of the youngest daughter. Everything aside, she was so animated and seemed to be having such a good time. That little one doesn’t have a shy bone in her body, apparently!!! Great speech, nice family, grounded in her views and life. Hummm….looks like the republican’s and John McCain have chosen a winner for sure. I am one pleased citizen, and look forward to November, when I get the opportunity to say as much. :)

Comment by Deb Essling

I was very impressed by Sarah Palin’s speech last night; wow does she have some skills! I was one of the doubting when McCain introduced her as his running mate, but now his choice makes complete sense. What she can bring to the energy debate is huge.

I watched Brian interview Joe Biden, and I almost had to turn it off – I was getting so tired of Biden’s whiny cadence! I thought Brian did very well, and must have rattled Biden’s cage a bit, because I was left very unimpressed. After the interview, I thought to myself – what are the liberals saying? So I turned to NBC (sorry! rarely do that) and within a few minutes he was interviewed there as well. He wasn’t as whiny, but definitely defensive and alusive. At one point he refused to answer a question. A few minutes later, during a panel interview, the newsperson stated that Biden was “off his game”. No kidding! Congrats, Brian!

Good morning Sal,

I actually watched C-spn last nite, as I wanted to see the whole of it, and all the speeches preceding Sarah P. Bill O, is on several times here…once in the prime time slot, and then again at the end of, so I am in no danger of not seeing the interview with the jr senator fr Illinois…and, of course, if one gets up early enough, on again yet one more time before the morning shows start. I switched over when Hannity and Colmes came on…I just couldn’t do Colmes last nite. He makes me want to throw shoes and things at the t.v.!!!! Susan E, should be hired in his place, I say yet one more time. She is a class act too. Her comments have been right on, and though I disagree with her politics, I enjoy her comments. :)

I thought the speech was great. Now the radical left will start nailing her again.

I do have a concern though, Why does FOX News do a interview with Obama right before the McCain speech tonight. I know that FOX is excitied about getting Obama and I think it is great. It just looks like it is on Obama’s terms. Obama is using the media to attack Palin and now this?

Two comments…

First, there is only one state that shares all of its borders with other countries and no other states. It seems that, as Governor of Alaska, she does indeed have foreign policy experience.

Second, we have community organizers in my small town. Be it here, her town in Alaska, or Chicago, community organizers do one thing. They take the pulse of the community and then go to the city council or Mayor to get something done. No original thought involved, just listen to the polls.

Comment by Jrock

While watching the Palin speach, my wife made an insightful comment regarding the Palin family. We saw the yougest daughter holding the baby, stroking his hair (it was funny watching her licking her hand to wet it so that she could smooth his hair), kissing his forehead. My wife said ” She learned this from her mother”. That was a great observation. The innocence of the youngest daughter showing affection toward her little brother that her mother had shown her. This was not contrived for the cameras. It was learned by example.

Palin just pulled the rabbit out of the hat, and that rabbit is the White House ! McCain/Palin is now ‘the’ dynamic duo !!

O’Reilly is having Obama on the same night as John McCain’s acceptance speech ? Wouldn’t be surprised if it was the Obama camp’s suggestion and I say great, go for it. Once and for all, America will see the substance behind McCain, and the hot air behind Obama.

John McCain is his own man. We have experienced the most tumultuous 8 year presidency that I can remember,,,,,and the McCain administration will put us back on the right track.

Palin was great! I know Fox wants to defend Sarah by being fair, but please tell Steve Ducee to stop dogging Biden’s family. It is just not necessary. Although the left needs to hear it, it does not need to come from Fox. The left has assured a victory for McCain/Palin ticket by being exactly who they are; pompous, self interested, abusers of the publics trust.

Sarah Palin has a steel spine. She showed that last night. I work at a hospital where many of the female physicians are the breadwinners. The husbands stay at home with the children. Obviously, Sarah’s husband, Todd has been doing this and has done a great job. Lots of men excel at being Mr. Mom’s and why this is an issue, beats me! The children can get just as much from a loving Father being at home as with a loving Mother. She has been in the political arena long enough to see whether it works for her family and it obviously does. The media needs to get over it. She demonstrated more class, poise, know-how, and extreme courage last night and her political trail in Alaska proves she is more than qualified.

I can’t believe my ears.
How is her 17 year old daughter being pregnant not an ISSUE!

SHE CAN’T EVEN RUN HER HOUSEHOLD SUCCESFULL!
SHE CAN’T EVEN CONTROL HER OWN CHILD!
SHE CAN’T EVEN GET HER OWN CHILD TO RESPECT HER!

She is suppose to be the next VP of the USA?

I DON’T THINK SO!

John McCain is about 90 years old, he is a pale as a sheet,(which denotes a low white blood cell count which is endemic of illness) and he has already had quite a few battles with skin cancer.

It is not out of the question that she could have to run the country, IS’NT RUNNING YOUR HOUSHOLD A PRE REQ?

I can’ wait to cast my vote for Obama on November 4th, 2008.

In November, I was going to vote reluctantly for John McCain. There’s no way under the earth that I could abide Obama in the presidency. However, that’s all changed now, and I’m definitely and proudly going to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket. Sarah Palin is the real deal. Hopefully, her genuine demeanor, brains, beauty and experience will convince the other “reluctant voters” to get out there and elect President McCain and Vice President Palin.

loved that she reminded us what America is all about!!!

The majority of people are not the Hollywood hipsters we see. The majority are not celebrities….. what makes America great is the every day people that love values, love America and love ethics that do not change based on culture!!!!! that is what mccain & palin stand for!!!

I could go on and on and on!! She has gotten me so fired up for our country and I actually believe SHE COULD bring change just like she has every where else she has been. I believe in her and I believe that she means what she says. I can’t say the same for Obama.

At least she can control her own behavior & has high morals.

She exudes integrity & conviction right to the core!!! She means what she says and says what she means!

The fact that you and other democrats have to take blows at her parenting skills or children proves how strong of a pick she is! You are grabbing for anything!

I think John McCain really knew what he was getting when he chose Sarah Palin. She ROCKED that convention last night. As a single Grandmother raising a special needs Grandson from 17 months old to currently 11 yrs. old, I say….the difference between a special needs child’s advocate and a pitbull….lipstick!!! I felt like Sarah was speaking directly to me. That was the most UNBORING 40 minute speech I have ever heard! Sarah IS the right woman for the job, and I believe we witnessed the future first female President of the United States last night! Hilary Clinton cannot hold a candle to Sarah Palin!!!

Comment by Todd Zukowski

I’ll start this by saying I have mostly voted Democratic in the past. This election is one where I don’t know where to stand. I was leaning twords Obama at first, but he just doesn’t have the experience or “instinct” to run this country. Then I was leaning twords McCain, but I can honestly say I can’t remember seeing one commercial on tv that tells me what McCain is about, it’s always about what Barrack is not. Then there was Palin’s speech. That was the most unprofessional speech I have ever heard. I seemed like it was straight out of that movie where a comedian ran for president. Steve said it best this morning, she is normal. That’s what scares people. I don’t agree. She is normal, that’s why she is not ready to be second in command. I don’t want a normal person running, I want someone who stands out. I would run if people wanted normal. Her speech seemed like it would have been a skit done by Tina Fey on SNL. I have never been more offended to think that people would actually consider backing this person. She made people clap by making fun of other people and putting them down. This is not waht we need, we need a leader that can talk about who they are and what they are about. And being a member of the IRA, maybe she and Chaney should go hunting someday and see who shoots who by accident. This woman is a trainwreck waiting to happen. Not that Biden is any more ready, but at least their campaign is about telling people what they stand for, not what the other doesn’t stand for.

In baseball vernacular… Romney, Huckabee, and Giuliani loaded the bases, and Sarah Palin hit the ball out of the park! A Grand Slam!

She left no doubt at all that she will help make America great again, and if necessary, could lead this country on a moments notice. Proven Executive leadership experience, credentials, character, and integrity. Wow.

Comment by Marilyn Johnson

Sarah speaks for the millions of Americans who live quietly in their homes, but now is the time for us to speak out and support what true Americans really want-true Americans to lead our country, not the liberals, who only represent a small amount but have such a large voice. Sarah is honest and true-blue, a much needed presence that I am so extremely happy about. I am about to get involved in politics because of Sarah. You go, Sarah!!!

I thought Govenor Palin’s speech was great. I also liked Giuliani’s speech. I don’t remember ever laughing so hard during political speeches, but I guess when you talk about Obama there is a lot to laugh about.
After the speeches I flipped back and forth between Fox and CNN just to see if the comments were different. I found it funny that every democratic commentator said that she proved she can read from a teleprompter. They all minimized the speech because it was written for her.
Do any of these democratic commentators ever listen to what they say. EVERY candidate has people writing speeches, including their wonderboy Obama.
The only reason Obama is where he is today is that HE can read a prepared speech from a teleprompter. Everything he says at his appearances is prepared in advance. Has only heard him answer questions on the fly? He doesn’t sound nearly as good, he is always fumbling for words.
I disagree with a lot of the commentators that said she did well because the expectations were low for her. The expectations and pressure placed on her for this speech were very high. She passed with flying colors. She came across as a natural speaker.
Another funny criticism from the democratic commentators and the Obama campaign is that she did not talk about their plans. I don’t recall much coming out of the democratic convention either other than they think McCain is Bush. The commentators didn’t have a problem saying during the DNC that it is not the time to go into all the details, that would come later in the debates and appearances. Why should it be different at the RNC? Palin did touch on issues, I guess they were not listening.

I watched the entire speech and Sarah was TERRIFIC! By the way Alisyn the Hockey Mom joke was Sarah Pailn’s response to one of John McCain’s aides when they told Sarah the media would be tough on her. Bill Kristol told this on Fox news yesterday or the day before. So the joke wasn’t in her prepared statements or planned as you seem to think. GO SARAH!!

Hey Jessica – ever raised a female teen?? You would like to think there is control but it is non-existent. You hope and pray that they make good choices when they are not within your 4 walls, but it doesn’t always happen. And it’s not always someone’s fault. Life happens and you learn to make the best of a tough situation. So how long do you feel Sarah Palin has to pay for her 17 y.o being pregnant? Step away from her personal life and focus on her credentials as a political figure. Lots of teens get pregnant and it is heartbreaking to the family but you don’t point fingers and expect the family to take a hit. A real family pulls together and puts one foot in front of the other and goes on.

I’m so sorry you missed it Alisyn! It was so refreshing, strong, and thrilling. I watched it with my seventeen year old daughter and her girlfriend. One of us teared up with pride over watching a woman who shared our values finally being in the Big Show! My daughter changed her name on msn to a quote from her speech. ” I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organizer,” except that you have actual responsibilities. ” Her girlfriend stood up and cheered. It was a great night and I hope you get a chance to watch it in it’s entirety.

I think this should be re-posted until Election Day:
Top Ten Things Barrack Obama can ask Sarah Palin when he meets her the
first time.
10- How do you load a gun?
9 – Is hunting scary?
8 – How do you get the bait on that hook thingy?
7 – What’s it like having a spouse that isn’t angry all the time.
6 – You were Mayor, then Governor, what’s a budget?
5 – I’ve never delegated. Do you have a canned speech for that?
4 – What does “meeting a payroll” mean?
3 – Why do you have so many kids; haven’t you ever heard of an abortion?
2 – What’s it like actually being an executive?
1 – Yeah, but do the Germans like you?

I don’t usually get excited about any politicians, but Mrs Palin is the real thing and more like us (the working folks). I have seen both of her speeches and they were great and right to the point. Our country needs a breath of fresh air right now and I belive that she is it. The media may think that they are hurting her campaign but I believe that the normal folks will turn this back against them in the end. God Bless McCain/Palin and God Bless America.

By the way, ask Richard Branson about his ridiculous “Council of Elders” idea. He actually is
gathering together a group of senior statesmen who want to be in charge of the entire planet. It is the
most seriously anti-American policy ever proposed in the history of the free world.
Don’t let his impish charm and smooth lines fool you! Sincerely, JFH-Yorktown, Virginia

I am so proud to be an American!
I was so impressed with Sarah Palin. I can so relate to her and her family. One never knows what life is going to hand them. I have been a working woman all my married life. Recently, my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. He is only 44 years old.
With this life changing disease, my life and how I approached it has changed dramatically. I have been working 2 jobs to support our family.
I understand that time is a difficult thing to manage, but when necessary, it can be accomplished.
When people say she has not time with her family and neglects her children, I say have you ever been in her shoes? How do you know?
This year I have really realized that some of what’s been going on has made me a stronger and better person. I enjoy working, and know this is what my life is now. I don’t neglect my children or my disabled husband.
In fact, I was speaking to him last night and talking about how Sarah has inspired me.
So, I say “Be careful judging her, it may come back to haunt you”!
Thanks,
Jennifer

Good morning from Montana! I agree, Sarah Palin hit a grand slam last night with her speech. I have to admit, I haven’t seen this much enthusiam from American’s about a candidate in years! She’s just what this country needs and wants – a hockey mom who knows how to multi-task, “clean house”, stay withing the household budget and put on hot meal on the table at the end of the day – even if it might be moose stew!

Laura from Canada – if either of the Palin’s would have had an abortion – we wouldn’t know a thing about it. That’s what is so hypocritical about the liberals. How many public women have stood up and admitted they’ve had an abortion? They WOULDN’T dare because of the backlash so its much easier to point fingers and judge those who don’t when they are faced with an unplanned pregnancy.

Not only did I love watching the Palin children with the baby, but also Cindy McCain when she held the baby. Her body language said it all – she LOVES children! You can’t fake that. Cindy McCain will make a GREAT first lady!

Jessica – what in the world does being a pregnant teenage daughter have to do with not respecting her mother? I’d say she had tons of respect for her mother and father because she faced upto to her pregnancy instead of running off to a clinic to have the “problem taken care of” with her parents being none the wiser. Show me a parent who has total control of a teenager ANYWHERE??? You obviously aren’t the parent of a teenager or perhaps even a child. As a mom, all we can do is the best that we can do by teaching values, morals and right and wrong to a child. And when a child does something “wrong”, teaching them that there is accountability for actions. However, most loving and caring parents will be alongside their child offering their support and guidance each step of the way.

Gov. Palin’s speech was absolutely fantastic!! This is exactly what the Republician Party has been needing for the last 4-years. i really respect how Gov. Palin has handled all the media spectacle over the past 5 days. She hasn’t played the victum role like the media was hoping for. She is strong willed, confident, intelligant women who is truly doing politics for the right reason, and that is to SERVE THE PEOPLE. The media and the left-wing nuts will continue to HATE her not because she is a women, but because of what she respresents as a public servant to the American Public. Fox News Great Job, keep being the only Fair and Balance Network on TV.

Hi Alisyn – First of all, want you to know that I love everyone on Fox News but most especially, you. I love your very open & warm personality & humor and you are beautiful (I’m not gay, just an admirer).

As to your questions regarding Sarah Palin, I am very pleased with her. She is smart, astute, fair, direct & I believe honest. I loved her speach last night. I sat there and cried because of the truths she was speaking and getting back at those who have so viciously attacked her. And she did it with a smile!! It was wonderful!! I also believe she is very qualified to be a Vice Presidential candidate with McCain. I think they compliment each other very well & are a VERY STRONG TICKET FOR POSITIVE CHANGE IN OUR COUNTRY!!

As for her pregnant daughter, it just shows that she and her family are human and capable of making mistakes. It is out in the open now and has nothing to do with her qualifications as Vice President!

Thank you & Fox News for your fair & balanced reporting. I watch your station a good portion of each day. I am one of your best fans!! I LOVE YOU!!

Hooray for the McCain/Palin ticket. Lets re-energize this election. I am from the Midwest and live in a mostly Democratic area. They would vote for a goat on the democratic ticket before voting for a republican.

I’m hoping that McCain/Palin can get a few cross-overs this November.

There should be a short test you have to pass before voting, so everyone would have to actually have some knowledge about who they are voting for.

Go McCain/Palin!

As a 60 year old conservative grandfather I have seen and heard plenty of policiticians and their promises, in both parties. I picked up on Sarah months ago in back page new articles and thought she was the real deal. Backing Romney I was tossing McCains solicitations to the side. I still have some issues with John but with adding “Palin Power” to the ticket I am juiced and put my money in the campaign pot.

Sarah has also invigorated my female family members and freinds with her class and composure.
I dare say not a family in this country can’t identify with hers in some way. The so called national media has shown its true colors and shallow regard for an outstanding woman. I suspect they are upset that such a class act broke the glass ceiling before Hillary got closer. Shame on all of them.

Boys and girls, finally someone who actually cut a budget, gave the taxpayers their surplus money back, sold the jet on ebay, nixed the infamous bridge to nowhere, exposed party corruption, had a baby, raises the family, was in a union, a PTA member, sends a son to war, understands the energy issues and drives herself to work! God I pray she continues.

When she gets to Washington and goes on the hunt (as she can also do) for those that work against the citizens interest, the lipstick on their color will be the pit bull on their ass!!

Hi there, this is my first time on your blog, I love watching your show. I have to say that I had to stay up to watch Sarah’s speech. She was GREAT and she is more than qualified to run this country, especially if being qualified is what Obama cliams to be.

The two things that I don’t understand and make me mad: 1st: Whey after she was done did everyone emphasize that her speech was written for her. We all know that everyone’s are. Obama didn’t write his and neither did Biden.

The 2nd thing is why is everyone comparing her to Obama, why are they not comparing McCain to Obama and Palin to Biden. I can’t wait til the debate – she is going to smoke Biden!!!

Soccer moms love Palin too!!!!!

As a 60 year old conservative father of six and grandfather of 10, I have seen plenty of politicians and their promises over the years. As a Romney backer I was tossing aside McCain’s solicitations. Now that Sarah is on ticket I have focused and paid into the campaign kitty. By picking Sarah, John has shown his maverick brilliance with an outstanding woman. “Palin Power” is not just a nice sound bite – she is the real deal.

I followed Sarah months ago and thought she was an up and coming leader (not politician). Sarah has invigorated me and female family members and friends. The so called national media has shown its contempt and utter disrespect for someone of her stature. I believe they are jealous that she broke the glass ceiling before Hillary could get there first. Shame on them; they will go away gradually as their credibility erodes. The best they could say was that someone else wrote the speech (Clue: everyone has their speech written). AND THIS JUST IN: her teleprompter failed, she did most from memory!!

I believe most families in this country can identify with hers and the issues they face. If nothing else, she is an example of taking responsibility and doing the right thing within her family, within the party and within her state as governor. Talk about an example of empowerment by a female.

Boys and girls, finally a leader that actually cuts spending, sends tax surplus back to the taxpayers, sells the jet on eBay (love that), is a union member, raises her family, was a member of the PTA, wears a skirt comfortably, sends a son to war, gives birth, partners with her husband and drives herself to work. She has set the bar higher alright – for men.

When she gets to Washington and goes hunting for those who work against the interest of US citizens, the lipstick on their collars will be a reminder that the pit bull is on their ass!! Like you women all say “you go girl”

Sarah Palin gave a phemomenal speech last night!!!

I was wondering though…. have been many complaints about cable interruptions during the RNC?

Many families in our small town in Florida lost their connection just as Guilliani was about to speak.

Fortunately, we got it back just as Palin was about to speak. My parents in North Carolina lost it at

the same time (it didn’t go back on as soon as ours did). Very strange….there were no storms or

digging going on. Any ideas??

How can anybody (Jessica) say Sarah can’t be VP because of her daughter? Trust me, being a mother of 3 teens, they don’t always do what they are suppose to no matter what you have installed in them!! Her daughter’s actions in no way reflect her mother and all of her children should be left out of this. That is all you have against her and it is a pathetic cheap shot!!

Voting for Obama is handing over to the enemies on a silver platter!!

Comment by jasontromm

It was a great speech. Palin can be a real attack dog when she gets going. Sarah’s going to be a pitbull with lipstick for the rest of this campaign. She’ll make the Democrats sorry they attacked her family like they did over the past few days.

Best line was the one about storing the Greek columns in a warehouse somewhere.

Comment by Gini

Good afternoon Chas,

I suspect the speech was pure Sarah P, don’t you think? She may have had help, however, she would be the one who, in the end, would approve or disapprove, the final script? I, of course, do not have a clue, but suspect the woman who fired the chef at the governor’s mansion, and drives herself to work, probably is capable of “writing” her own speech? Apparently she is also capable of making the speech whether the tele prompter is on or off, which is a genuine relief, and lends one to believe, that she believes what she is saying. Just an observation, of course, as we all get to know her. lol

I thought Sarah Palin was FANTASTIC she said everything she needed to say and got her point across that she’ willing and able to be Vice President. As a now ex-marine mom I could totally relate to her saying that every night she’ll go to bed and say a pray for our troops. The now famous line from the Jerry Maguire movie comes to mind YOU HAD ME AT HELLO sums it up. Lastly I feel that all Americans should be offended by the left media thinking that we the people are not capable of making up our own minds about who we want for President. We are not stupid and don’t need your bias influence. Sarah Palin this is coming from Texas YOU HOOKED EM

I think Palin is a breath of fresh air. One question about the polls. How come all the weekly gallop poles (1000 people) have Obama in the lead, and AOL has been doing weekly polls nationwide that every week for months has shown that McCain is leading by over 60% nationnwide. How come no one makes any comments about this. There are over 500,000 people every week participating in a new weekly poll for the Presidency and the gallop polls show Obama ahead of McCain. Is the media tainting the polls to make people believe he is ahead, when he clearly is NOT.

Amazing! She is what the Republican Party needs, along with Bobby Jindal, to bring the party back to its roots so I can return to the party. Sarah is Margaret Thatcher, Rosie the Riveter, and Florence Nightingale all rolled into one. I yelled “Hell yeah!” more times than I can remember. I had no doubt that she would exceed my expectations…..and they were very high. I just wonder what’s been giong on in the Clinton houshold these past days, especially last night.

I am one of those suburban voters the media had been talking about and I hadn’t made up my mind about this election until just this moment. Quite frankly, I found both presidential candidates unable to capture my support over the past year. Obama has absolutely no credentials for this job and McCain seemed like a bit of a loose cannon. However, Governor Palin has won this independent voter over and then some. At last, a smart, articulate and hard charging woman has come along – one who has found how to strike a balance between career and family. She appeared to be the genuine article with a take no prisoners approach to cleaning up Washington and the anti-corruption record to back it up. Obama says the country is broken and he can fix it but he never gives any real information on how. The usual democratic approach of throwing money at our problems hasn’t worked in the last 60 years so why would it work now? I don’t think the country is broken — Washington is broken. Unfortunately, Obama’s extreme liberalism would only further divide the country and would cause the congress and senate to be hopelessly gridlocked again. At least McCain and Palin have a good chance at being able to compromise and work across the aisle to get Washington out of its perpetual state of political impotency. The fact is that most hard line Republicans are going to vote for McCain and democrats are going to vote Obama. It’s the 10 to 15 percent of us who don’t vote party but vote for the best person that is going to decide this election. Palin is showing well with us and we are the ones who will end up deciding this election.

My Paleo-Conservative roots extend to Barry Goldwater. I have been this excited in only three Presidential races; Goldwater, Reagan and now McCain-Palin. She was dynamic last night. My wife, a Reaganite was, until last evening, luke warm about the election process although a McCain supporter. Last night she and I were laughing teary-eyed simultaneously. If there were a way to vote for the McCain-Palin ticket more than once, we would. What a team—What a hero—What a woman.

I Love Sarah Palin, especially as a working mom. I feel that she has faced the same issues that I have faced. I feel that I cold go out and have a cup of coffee with her and talk with her. That is the one thing that I feel I could never do with Sens’ Obama and Biden. With Sarah Palin I think a person could not only talk about politics but also about kids, football or trade recipes. She is a real person that has the same shared difficulties. I also have childern that are a challenge and really like her. I also am tired of the condencing attitude that we as a people do not know how to live our lives and must have the government to show us the correct way to live. PS forgive the spelling.

Loved the speech. Sarah Palin is bringing more fire to the Republican Party then I ever expected to see this year. These are the traits that I have most admired in George W. Bush. Go McCain/Palin!

I was particular impressed by her discussions of small towns, “it’s where our food is grown, our soldiers come from etc.” and her drill here and drill now attitude. I operate a small family farm with my father in north central Pa and times have always been tough here, but even more so lately with increases in fuel costs, which affects farms and remote areas even more so. Recently though, a large discovery of natural gas has been made in the Marcellus shale which runs through our community. In just a few short months the exploration and drilling here have significantly impacted the local economy. Just through gas lease monies alone pouring into the local economy, local land owners have paid off debt, traded in their old rust buckets, made necessary repairs on their homes, and taken down “for sale” signs in the front yard. With the energy companies, US companies, now hard at work, they have employed literally hundreds of people. From excavation to clerical services, there are hundreds of different job descriptions. Anyone willing to work can. I believe, and have seen first hand, huge benefits of home grown energy sources. I believe that small spikes in local and regional economies all across the US is the answer to our economic worries and our energy independence, and it begins with small towns like Wellsboro Pa. McCain picked a great VP.

I made a point of staying up just to watch Sarah Palin. I wanted to hear firsthand what she had to say and to see just how interesting she might be. Boy was I rewarded with an outstanding performance. She was absolutely flawless and I loved her from then on. I think Senator Biden is in for a run for the money. Everyone I spoke to at work today were just absolutely blown away by her speech and performance. I must say though, Sarah Palin is not the reason I’m voting Republican. I am looking at who will ultimately be running the country and I much prefer someone that I know will be able to stare down the bullies in the schoolyard. I think McCain made an excellent choice in his running mate and I hope to see them win in November!

Sarah Palin rocked! She is the perfect pick anyone could make for VP. It’s a shame you missed the speech.

To your viewers I would like to comment that the media coverage of Sarah Palin was abhorrent. I was not germane news reporting, it bordered on slander and destruction of her family and her.

Because of my disgust with print media and televised news (and entertainment), I am asking and recommending that all who read this to boycott all print media e.g., newspapers, magazines, and journals. To change media bias, everyone should boycott the following televised programs: CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC. Should enough Americans boycott these mediums for a month, these media giants will begin reporting the news and not telling us what to think, how to vote, and who to hate. Join me in boycotting the news and entertainment media from September 7 through October 7, 2008.

Should you decide to join me in this endeavor, this would mean that you should not buy any print media or watch any news programs on the above mentioned broadcasting stations or any of their affiliates. I hope your viewer decide to join me in this boycott.

Thank you very much for your support. Let us force the media to perform their jobs with factual information and not personal, bias, hyperbole.

This is for Danielle – you say you still don’t know what Sarah P. stands for. It is very obvious that she is Pro-Life, if she wasn’t she would have had an abortion knowing that the baby (Trigg) was a down syndrome baby, she wants to cut absurd spending in government (that’s obivous – she got rid of her state’s jet – you go girl), she also has to be on the side of teacher’s – her mom was one, she got rid of a ridiculous bridge to nowhere bill, she got a new oil pipline going!!!! All of these things are positives and proves she has experience! How could you have heard all she has done and still not know where she stands. All Obama has voted on he did as a “present” what is that all about?

Comment by Andrew

Is Fox News owned by republicans or do they just pay all the bills. It is so biased it is sick. Why would a journalist debate a political analyst. I wish that Fox would stop trying to push its own adgenda on the American public.

If Biden was not the Vice President pick for Obama who would he vote for? I don’t think Obama!!

Ya,

It was excellent! Speech was similar to you it was perfection. I like how she stood and said to the bias media “I’m not here to seek thier approval, I m going to Washington to seek yours! This line to me said wonders.

Sarah Palin is a super star. No question. That was the best speech and best delivery by anyone, let alone a woman, I have ever heard. And John McCain is the absolute right man for the lead job. This ticket WILL win. We are energized and we are ready to get the rest of the population energized and hopeful too.

My question to Sara Palin: If the only difference between an hockey mom and a pit bull is lipstick, who wears the lipstick? Just kidding. Actually, I think she’s great with or without lipstick.

As a former special education teacher and one who grew up with a disabled sister, I’m glad to have an advocate and friend in the White House.

Hi Alisyn,

I have a problem with the conspiracy theorist on your blog about the media and thier overall intent. I find it hard to believe that the media is controlled by Obama and his people and the same goes for the McCain camp. Even though I believe that different media outlets have opinions I still believe that they are upheld to tell the truth and bring any relevant issues to the forefront. To say that liberal media outlets are doing Obama’s work is just silly. As in saying that conservative media outlets are doing McCain’s work. When the comments made by Rev. Wright were brought to light it was not one media outlet who felt they had the obligation to NOT report it. These allegations should be taken personally by anyone in the media as basic truth reporting fundementals is usually championed by all and not the puppet like party pushing agenda they have demoralized your jobs to be.

As for the Palin speech, I thought it was good. She had good delivery, humor, and came off as genuine. I didnt like that fact that she choose to participate in the same partisan behavior that has plagued this country for too long. The only way we will get anything done in this country is by respecting, communicating, and coming up with solutions for every american.

As a woman in a small rural community in Wisconsin I consider my self moderate. I am appalled by the hate and fear that Sarah Palin uses to attack everyday Americans. I am a mother of three, and an Army veteran, a strong catholic and she does not support the values I hold dear. . What about women issues of equal pay for equal work, health care for our children, a living wage. Woman are losing jobs under this Republican administration and they will lose jobs with Mc Cain. In Alaska she raised taxes, promoted pork barrel politics and hired lobbyists, does not sound like the reform I would like. I would like an administration that actually believes in science and the human rights of all. I truly pray our country does not continue on this path of division and fear, we deserve better and we can do better.

WHAT’S UP, HOLLYWOOD?

In one breath, you guys decry violence, echo anti-gun rhetoric, and threaten to leave America if Democrat pals lose elections. In the next, you’re hawkin’ new releases…with plots involving guns, violence, murder and mayhem. (Doh…can you say ‘hypocrite’?)

Examples of “Hollywood Hypocrisy”:

Alan Alda earned millions on M.A.S.H;
Ben Affleck topped the charts in Pearl Harbor;
Reba McIntyre offered reduced ticket prices in exchange for handguns…then starred in Annie Get Your Gun.
Julia Roberts set aside guns and violence “beliefs” for Pelican Brief AND Michael Collins;
Tim Robbins, War of the Worlds…
Susan Serandan, Thelma and Louise…
Alec Baldwin, Path to War…

The list goes on and on, but you get the drift.

So, Actors, do you BELIEVE what you say when supporting anti-violence, anti-gun Democrats? If so, how can you, in good conscience, accept roles that involve those things!

Your participation in such productions is full-color proof that your convictions are as opaque as your principles, which should never be based on the millions you’ll bank…or how high your star might rise when those movies hit the big screen.

Either you mean what you say, or you don’t, so ‘fess up, why don’t you! That way, even when fans disagree with your politics, we can at least respect that you DO know what ‘honor’ means.

Will I watch your movies, even as you talk outta both sides of your mouths? Maybe. But MY conscience won’t allow me to waste my hard-earned money in theaters or rental stores. I’ll wait ‘til they’re free on TV, to ensure I’ll have no part in funding your hypocrisy.

And that, my Hollywood friends, you CAN take to the bank.

Never have I been so excited and so proud to be a female republican. I don’t care if Sarah Palin is female, male, black or white, when she was introduced as VP and gave her exceptance speech, my husband and I were so WOWed. She may have not had many years in office, but look what she has accomplished in that short amount of time. She didn’t accomplish these things because she thought “one day I want to be a VP so I need to have something to show for it”. She had a heart to serve and saw a need to be met. We listened to her speech 3 times because she had so much experience in so many areas that this country is in need of. She truely hit on all cylinders. Democrats are asking where we would be if McCain dies and is she ready to be President. She probably isn’t yet, but she would have a wealth of advisors to fall back on. One the other side, who would train Obama to be president if Biden dies? We would be in a worse position. As far as being mayor and then governor of a small state she got more votes in her election than Biden did in his NATIONAL elections total.
Brilliant choice of VP Sincerely, Alice GA.

I have a suggestion. We are now in the middle of hurricane season and Hannah is on the way. I think when it gets to the letter “S” we should call it hurricane Sarah. She will be a category 5 and will be tearing through Washington DC and this country with tremendous strength and force. She is a force to be reconed. She will be bringing floods to all parts of this great nation. Floods of hope to the people and floods of distruction to politics as usual. Only thing different is, she will leave this land in better shape than it was before she came.

Why does FOX claim it is “America’s Election HQ”? They should declare it “Republican’s HQ”.

They are so biased that they have forgotten what is Journalism? Their goal is just to bash democrats and praise republicans. Believe me, I am not on either side. I hope they raise the valid points for both side candidates and let people choose rather than use their positions to mock democratic candidates. How can one favor republicans after 8 years of disastrous bush administration?

And how come all the comments in this section, favor “Sarah palin”? Soulds like guy who filters emails, doing excellent job. I doubt if my comments will get published.

Hi Alisyn!
I really missed seeing you at the convention…To be honest you are my favorite TV personality and I would love to see you have your own show. You seem so honest and intuitively seem to ‘get’ people and don’t crumble under pressure. You seem to get ramped up when necessary to make your points which so far I always agree with and you handle difficult guests with aplomb. I think you would absolutely love Sarah Palin and I would love for you to meet her. She IS the genuine article. I know this because I have known the Palins and Sarah personally for about 12 years. I have been a doctor in Sarah’s hometown for 21 years, our boys played hockey together for years, in fact we were hockey mom’s together. Sarah however was not just a hockey mom, She was the Team Mom and she was fantastic!! I used to marvel at how she was able to organize up to 21 hockey players, at least 2-3 coaches, 64 plus parents, 2-3 refs and deal with the same from members of the opposing teams and keep everryone happy. I have never seen Sarah without a smile on her face or without one of her kids wrapped round her legs. In our little town we have to travel at least every weekend for our kids to play competitive teams at least 6hours north to Fairbanks in the ice, snow, wind and bitter cold, and 4-5 hours south to the Kenai peninsula. In addition we frequently traveled to tournaments out of state which were anywhere from Canada to California to Minnesota. Sarah would make all the arrangements from reserving rooms at the hotels for us all, organizing team breakfast, lunch and dinners, team get togethers etc. I marveled at how she was able to coral #21-12 year old boys and keep them entertained and out of trouble. I can tell you that our teams were always the most well behaved and congenial to other teams and parents etc. To my knowledge we never had any incidence where any of our hocker players got into trouble, vandalized a room or were disrepectful to each other, ref’s or host or visiting teams. Mostly due to Sarah’s vigilance and the example she and her family set. To answer some of her critics who don’t think she can or has juggled her professional and home duties well I can tell you her children are some of the most well behaved respectful children I’ve ever met. I don’t think Sarah has ever missed any of her children’s activities and her three little girls made just about every trip and game Track had and were his biggest fans. I’ve seen the Palin family work, compete and play together. Sarah is a hands on Mom and even with all of her responsibilities her children were either attentively at her side pitching in and helping or within eyesight. They are incredibly beautiful respectful children with a strong sense of community spirit and cooperativeness. They are not selfish and they are extremely kind and compassionate. They are fun loving and love deeply. They have earned the freedoms that you have to start giving to children as they begin to enter adulthood. She has taught them well and loved them deeply, she has kept them safe and made sure their education was top notch. If you have ever been in the wilds of Alaska or on a fishing boat or watched “Te Deadliest Catch” then you know what a perilous life commercial fisherman live. Most of the family owned commercial fishing businesses are entirely run by the family. Much like farm life only on a boat in high and perilous seas. These kids are hard workers and have been taught the value of self sufficiency as well as the need to give back to the community they live in. Their mother has taught them well. The Palin’s and Heath’s have a large loving extended family who pull together and take care of each other in good times and bad. I don’t know many families who are able to take care of each other and others so well without ever expecting a thanks. To criticize Sarah for her daughter’s pregnany blows me away. To her critics all I can say is, have you never been so in love that you may have had one careless moment that changes your life forever? If you have never known love like that then I am sorry for you. My observation is that the Palins live and love life and the people and community in their life deeply and we in this community return the same support to them. I am proud of their incredible bravery at not hiding the truth or sending Bristol away. Bristol, in my opinion has to be one of the bravest girls on earth. How many 17 year old girls whose own hopes, dreams and aspirations have suddenly been pulled out from under her by one big ‘oops’ could proudly stand tall by the mother who has stood tall by her side all these years on a national stage with images shown around the world with such dignity?? I don’t think I could have done that at that age and I don’t know anyone (unless they live under a rock) who hasn’t had a moment of weakness. The difference is the Palin’s did not try to hide or discount the truth, it is what it is and we all respect them for loving and supporting and being proud of each other. Bristol had many choices, she chose to do what is right for her and her baby and the babies father. Her life changed in an instant and she went from a happy go lucky high schooler just about to enter her senior year which should be the best year of her life to instant adulthood and she has handled it like a pro. Just as we all have to respect each others personal decisions we must respect hers and at least give this brave, beautiful, compassionate girl credit for all of this. I’m sorry this is so wordy but I love these people and we Alaskans are proud of Sarah and her family. Years from now people won’t remember so much the trials and tribulations the Palin’s are going through right now, but what they will remember is the dignity, pride and intelligence with which they hancled their situation. I hope this helps those of you from afar who can’t quite fathom Sarah as VP or President. Long ago, before even Sarah ran for govenor people were trying to get her to run. For years I’ve seen banners around the state saying “Sarah for Govenor” etc. She was literally coaxed into running by the citizens of this state and did so unselfishly. (In fact most of us in a selfish way hope she’s not the VP because we will miss her cool headed intelligent and yes pleasant leadership.) Therefore I guess if we’re going to play blame game for every little one of life’s mistakes and misfortunes that happens to the Palin’s then the citizens and residents of Alaska who will be enjoying the biggest permanent fund check in history and an energy rebate to boot would have to share this blame too. Thanks for listening, and please be safe on Branson’s boat… WEAR YOUR LIFE VEST!!!
Sincerely,
Dr.Natalie Beyeler

WOW! I knew a little about Gov. Palin prior to her speech but I was a little concerned about how she would do given the barrage of media attacks over the days preceding the speech. She was fantastic. She was strong, articulate, and brilliant. Look out biased left wing media types and Washington…this is a woman who will not falter in the eye of a storm. If you review that tape of the women in the convention audience you will see the real hope in this campaign. I saw, in those faces, hope for their daughters, their sisters and in some way for themselves. We are very close to having, not just any woman in the White House, but a woman that will make all of us proud. After hearing more about Cindy McCain it is obvious that John McCain knows how to pick quality women!

I have been offended by media comments that “Sarah Palin needs to be at home taking care of her children.” The comments about her ability to take care of her son with Downs Syndrome was especially upsetting. I am a mother of three children with disabilities. My chiildren have a horrible disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Furthermore, my son recently lost his battle with this disease. My point is that I was able to take care of my children while attending college for my degree. I am a school teacher who is presently working on her doctorate. I tell my story for this reason, when the media attempts to defame someone’s character, as they have Sarah Palin’s, they run the risk of offending many American women who have children and a career, or have children with disabilities and have a career. One may also consider the branches that extend to the families of such women and their children, such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and in-laws. It is possible to reach a number in the 100s for each family who felt offended. This could mean a enormous loss of votes to Obama come election. Just a thought I wanted to relay to other bloggers.

to comment by jeff, thank you, mine probably won’t get published either. mccain is only thinking of getting elected, not our country, she is not at all qualified for the job. her accomplishments are greatly exagerated, her speech not written by her, and seems she’s done a few shady things which i’m sure we’ll never find out about in time for the election. i really hope people see through this trick to divert attention away from the real issues. Red Herring Palin. i’m really disapointed in people who grit their teeth and accept her just so they have the excuse they need to vote republican again. our country is really in a big mess. this is not a time to play games, very dangerous move on mccains part, i do not respect him anymore and i am big enough to admit it and change parties.

Sarah and Todd will have ALL the help they need with the Children. As a working mother of SIX, I take great offense to anyone who questions her ability to serve our country just because she has a family.

Here is another question to ask….When Bill and Hillary were in the white house, who took care of Chelsea? Don’t you think that one of Chelsea’s best friends was a secret service agent??? Let’s get Chelsea on and ask her how her growing up in the White House affected her?

In addition, Sarah Palin, WHILE HAVING FOUR CHILDREN and GIVING BIRTH TO ANOTHER governed one of the largest states in our Country! People act as though she was a stay at home mom until 2 weeks ago. Please……this smart, classy woman is EXACTLY what our country needs!

Sarah Palin: 25 Reasons To Vote Against Her

1) Sarah Palin abuses power Bush/Rove style. She is being investigated for firing Department of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire her sister’s ex-husband, a state trooper.

2) Sarah Palin is a creationist. She does not support real science and the separation of church and state.

3) Sarah Palin is, by McCain’s own standards, terribly inexperienced. She has had a mere two terms on a city council and two years as a governor.

4) Sarah Palin is in bed with Big Oil. She has and will continue to act in the interests of big corporations rather than the American people or our environment. Palin rejects clean renewable energy as an alternative to oil.

5) Sarah Palin strongly supports the destruction of the environment in her very own state. Sarah Palin is a strong supporter of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), a vital wilderness area. It is home to hundreds of thousands of caribou who use the refuge as a calving ground, more than one million migratory birds, and countless other wildlife. It’s the most important onshore denning habitat for female polar bears. Sarah Palin is also a supporter of drilling in Bristol Bay and other offshore sites despite the risks to sensitive marine wildlife in the area, including the endangered polar bear and Beluga whale.

6) Sarah Palin is a danger to endangered species. She actually sued the federal government for listing polar bears as endangered; she didn’t want their status to get in the way of profits for the oil companies. She also approved paying bounties for killing wolves/bears (including mothers & cubs) and used taxpayer dollars on helicopters to use for sniping them.

7) Sarah Palin does not support a woman’s right to choose. She is vehemently anti-abortion, even for cases of rape.

8) Sarah Palin does not support same-sex marriage rights. She explicitly states that she believes marriage is to be only between one man and one woman.

9) Sarah Palin does not support personal liberty. She opposed extensions of gambling in Alaska, and has shown no opposition to the war on drugs.

10) Sarah Palin supports wasteful government spending. She opposed closing the state-owned Matanuska Maid Dairy which was unprofitable though it has just received $600k in government funding.

11)Sarah Palin supports fur trappers and is a big supporter of killing animals for fur.

12)Sarah Palin is weak when it comes to gun-control. She is a lifetime member of the NRA and a gun nut.

13)Sarah Palin was a member of the secessionist Alaskan Independence party which favored independence from the United States.

14)Sarah Palin is naive to environmental issues. She doesn’t believe man-made decisions/creations have had anything to do with global warming or climate-change. Sarah Palin questioned whether man-made fossil fuel emissions are responsible for global warming, defying worldwide scientific consensus. And her drill-drill-drill approach to energy issues will do nothing to ease the causes of global warming, promote the use of clean, renewable energy sources, or break our addiction to foreign oil.

15)Sarah Palin talks about God’s role in U.S. military action overseas and believes that it’s His plan for us to be there. She also believes it’s God’s will to build a $30 billion dollar natural gas line in Alaska.

16)Although she has a child with Down Syndrome, Sarah Palin slashed funding for special needs kids 60% in one year.

17)A car wash that Palin and her husband ran was shut down last year due to failing to comply with state regulations.

18)Palin was for ‘the bridge to nowhere’ before she was against it. She lied about this in her VP acceptance speech.

19)She has belonged to an extremist church for most of her life whose pastor said in 2004 that anyone who criticizes George W. Bush will be sent to hell.

20)Sarah Palin didn’t get a passport until 2007. An actual GOP talking point is that she has ‘foreign policy experience’ because Alaska is the state closest to Russia.

21)Sarah Palin wants to censor/ban library books that she deems inappropriate.

22)Sarah Palin opposes the listing of the Cook Inlet beluga whales, citing the listing as a threat to oil and gas development, despite their genetic uniqueness and the fact that their numbers have decreased from 1,300 in the 1980s to about 350 today.

23)Sarah Palin authorized the use of tax payer dollars to pay for her defense lawyer while under federal/state investigation.

24)Sarah Palin actively campaigned against a state ballot measure this summer aimed at protecting Alaska’s Bristol Bay. The mining industry seeks to develop a gold and copper mine in the area that would pollute the Bay’s headwaters and threaten the spawning grounds for the largest remaining wild salmon run. The initiative would have prevented large-scale mining operations from dumping waste materials into salmon watersheds.

25)Sarah Palin is against teaching sex education in the classroom.

QUESTION, Are those silly disruptive war protesters at the convention, you know, the ones who are so mad that our boys are getting killed in Iraq, the same ones who want the right to kill their own sons and daughters in their very own wombs? These people are so hypocritical and irrational its sad. If Sara was a pro choice athiest they would be bowing down and worshipping her right now. I saw Obama the morning after Saras speech , he looked pale and was sort of stuttering as if he had just come to after being knocked out in the ring. I think he knows its over.

Good Morning. I was just watching the story about Sarah Palins interview and couldn’t help but notice the unconvincing manner that Julie Roginsky tried to dissmiss the Palin Factor.

Then she said something that was appaling to me. She said that “Women will see what she stands for and no woman can support that..(paraphrased)”.

How dare she think she can speak for all women, that to me shows fear about the outcome of this election. Trying to marginalize Sarah will be a death blow the the democratic party.
