Sarah Palin Problem?

Morning Everyone — I’m here doing the news updates today and tomorrow.   Let’s talk about Sarah Palin.  What do you think of the fact that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant?  Does this disclosure have any place in politics?  Does it say anything about the strength or weaknesses of Palin’s policy positions (Palin supports abstinence-only education).  How do you think Palin will address this in her speech at the RNC tonight?

Good morning Ms. Alisyn,

This would be a non-issue if Gov. Palin was a Dem. This would be a non-issue if Gov. Palin was a man. This should be a non-issue period!

Let’s talk about real things, important things, like plans of Obama to raise Gov. spending and not my taxes, (good luck), let’s talk about how the economy is going to be helped by NOT increasing the supply of oil with off0shore drilling, (again, good luck).

And let’s talk about the actual procedure Obama and McCain have to get things moving, not just some laundry list of populist ideas.

It isn’t Christmas, let’s stop with the list and lay out the plans.

You have a great day Ms. Alisyn.

Hi All: How come no one including Fox has asked the question…. Is Nancy Pelosi qualified to do her job? She has 5 children. E.D. Hill is a successful media woman and has 5 children. I thought the left was all about strong women being in power? Or maybe it is only liberal women who should succed.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Nancy Pelosi’s children are adults, so the comparison doesn’t quite apply. Now E.D. is just an incredible multi-tasker!

How will Senator Obama’s children get the attention they need from him if he wins the election? He has said repeatedly how important a father’s role in the lives of children is. Maybe we should right now make a law that you can not run for public office with underage children.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

You’ve got a good point Debbie. Why don’t we ever worry about men working with young children?

I am not surprised at the attacks from the left wing Democrates. This woman is totally amazing, yet the Obama Bunch is doing all they can to trash her. She is facing heart break at home, yet she and her family are doing the right thing. My vote is for her. Go get’em Sarah!

It is a disgrace to the American people how the media is treating a 17 yr old girl. It is past being indiffernt to her mental welfare an the welfare of her unborn child. Seems awful funny that the Clinton’s an the Carters an all other Politicians can call an out of bounds for their children an the media respect it . But now this girl is food for fodder to the Press in American. Shame on all of You.

I am sure that Sarah Palin would not have wished this for her daughter. What parent wants their child to start out with such a hard job (parenting) at such a young age? It is how they are choosing to handle the situation as a family that matters!
Also …the US front page story about Sarah Palin…I wonder what it would say to US magazine if the majority of their readers (women) boycotted the treatment of the Republican VP nominee? Why would we stand for this?

Comment by Ryan

First of all, it is unfortunate for Palin’s daughter. I think we have each known individuals in our lives who have been in the same situation, and put yourself in her daughter’s shoes once, right now, she probably doesn’t need this type of attention and hype.

For the child’s sake, this does not have a place in politics. Pick up the pace and move on. Even supporters of the Democratic party see this as a bump in the road that can be forgotten.

Palin should address this topic this evening in her speech.
I would assume she still stands as is on her policy positions, not flip-flopping, and an honest acknowledgement from her should be acceptable.

Great job this morning Alisyn!

Comment by LAT

How can the Democrats say they’re the party tha champions women’s rights? The position that a woman with a large family, special needs children, or a pregnant daughter should not be considered for promotion is ridiculus. Then again, they say they champion age equality and also say McCain is not qualified based on age.

Comment by Helen Hardy

I am appalled by the media bias to Gov. Sarah Palin. What kind of person would use a Down’s baby and a seventeen year old girl’s mistake to try to gain votes? Barack Obama’s weak comment to leave people’s family out of it was not good enough for some of us.
The media is absolutely sexist, and I hope women in this country remember all of this when they vote in November. I know that I will.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

What would you rather Obama have said?

Comment by Priscilla

Good morning! When the other major media outlets sat on the story regarding John Edwards escapades for eight months because the source was the “Enquirer”; where do they get off thinking they should run with a story when the information comes from blogs? Do they really think we can not see thru their bias?

Comment by Debra

I think it is time to truly discuss how the party of strong family values really feel about teenage pregnancy. Palin’s policy is about abstence, no sex education, no birth controll. Well, abstence does not work, not even in Palin’s own family. Maybe birth controll could have prevented this “unwanted Pregnancy” and I am sure Miss Palin could say that she did not know that sex makes babies. Maybe sex education could have prevented this situation in the first place. This is a policy issue for the country it goes beyond the personal. Although everything is different when it hit your family.

I am outraged by the liberal media and all the unfortunate misled people who have been speaking harshly concerning Sarah Palin. I am impressed with Governor Palin. The only thing Barack Obama has EVER said that I agree with is… Families are off limits in the campaign. I believe Rudy Giuliani had it right when he said Palin had more experience than the other side put together. She had more experience her first day in office… The second day she had twice as much. Fred Thompson had it right when he called Obama “the history making nominee”… “History making because he is the least experienced, most liberal nominee” in our history. Pair him up with the “history making” congress… History making because they are the least accomplished, most unpopular congress in our history. So here’s the deal… The way I see it… The more they talk about Sarah Palin… The less they talk about Barack Obama. Maybe we should actually thank the media…. People are learning more about the character and integrity of Sarah Palin through the comments of the liberals than we Conservatives could have ever hoped for. Thanks, liberals.

Comment by Denyse Mitchell

As a mother of two young boys, one just born in March, I am outraged that anyone is questioning Governor Palin’s choice to run because she has five children!! I agree with previous posters…it would not be an issue if she was a democrat or a man. The liberal media has taken things too far already with their attacks on this woman and her children. Yes, her daughter is pregnant. I’m sure it’s not what any mother would choose for her 17 year old girl, but what’s done is done, and I think the fact that they are supporting their daughter with love and sound advice speaks a lot to their devotion to their children. For those that would criticize her for any of these things: SHAME ON YOU!

Comment by Larry of Coastal Georgia

I usually send in one reply, but these attacks by the left wing liberal trash mags and news networks have caused me to write another. The slant is totally for the Demos, and totally against a woman for Vice President. How two faced are these liberals. She has children, so what? She has a child who made a mistake. So do many of us. My Cable Internet page used the word “Troopergate” in Alaska. Next they will try to tie her to the Clintons or Kennedys. How horrible.

Hello Alisyn,

Long time since we’ve chatted. I miss my Alysin!!!

I’m not sure how she’ll handle her daughters pregnancy. I thnik it would be best if she didn’t even mention it, but I’m sure it will come out at some point. I find it hard to believe that they use her time as mayor of a city of 9,000 people as “executive experience”. If you know me, I’m a big pro-ponent of women moving ahead in the the workplace or in politics or whatever the case may be, but a person needs a certain amount of time and experience to take on a position which could possibly make them the leader of the free world. Sarah Palin just isn’t that person in my opinion. Not yet anyway.

Anyway, it’s good to see you again Alysin. you look gorgeous as ever. How come you didn’t come to Minnesota? We could’ve had lunch!!!

Pat

The way the media is covering this is disgraceful. I can’t even begin to imagine what this is doing to this 17 year old girl; it has to be traumatic. The key issue though is that candidates children, Democrats or Republican, should be off-limits. We certainly didn’t hear anything about Chelsea during all her years as a child in the White house.

Let’s also remember the positive side of this story. This young lady has chosen life over the murder of her child knowing the consequences would be difficult. She should be congratulated for accepting this responsibility. I just hope the father will be totally supporting and accept his responsibility to her and their child.

Comment by Ernie

How absurd. I am not a religious zeal, but I believe the Bible says that those who have not sinned should cast the first stone!
I would like to see the pristine life of the reporters placed on the front page, how many of them have family members who made mistakes?
It’s always easy to cast stones at others when you and your families lives are not affected. I wish for once the press would consider the consequences before running stories about children of candidates. Chelsea was off limits, but the Bush girls were hounded.
A little bit of civility goes a long way!

Comment by Tammy

Palin can handle the situation. Her daughter has all she needs to make this work, family. Many women work and raise a family this is how we women do it. It just goes to show you these men are afraid of her. She stands on her beliefs and does not flip-flop. Children do not show our strenght or our weaknesses how we handle the situation shows what we are and what we have to offer. I think Sarah will mop the floor with Biden. If you are disappointed in Bristol you should should google Bidens Son and Daughter. They are adults.

Comment by Rod in Korea

If Palin becomes the V.P. then possible the Pres if something happens to McCain, will we complain when leaders from other countries criticize her? Will we then complain that there is a double standard and ask them to apologize?

Comment by Beverly E

John Edwards is the perfect example of gender discrimination. Very little was said about his leaving his children and gravely ill wife to hit the campaign trail.

Comment by jackie acre

It is terrible the way they are treating Sarah and family. Everyone has had a family that has been pregant prior to marriage. Only some people don’t want to admit it. Somewhere in the past this has happened in all families. I feel it is because they are afraid how well she is going to do. The dems are running scared because she is a strong women. By the way did anyone see Obama’s Grandmother at the convention or at any other time. He always speaks of her influence on him, but we never see her. She is kept out of sight. Thanks for listening, Love you guys at fox. I think Shep has really gone liberal though. You could never tell before. Jackie

Comment by Maribeth

I was that 17 year old girl, in love and pregnant. I married the baby’s father, raised my daughter and today she is doing important cancer research!!! I would never go back and change things. She is a miracle, no matter when she was conceived!

Comment by Rod in Korea

The media keeps up the talk about Palin, if it so horrible why don’t you just stop talking? You keep the debate going even if you think you are speaking out about how unfair it is.

Comment by Janice Kay

Good Morning,

First I would like to say that children should be off limits especially when being used for political gain. The additional coverage if anything reinforces the fact that John McCain threw the left wing media a curve ball.

I believe that any negative situation can be refocused to a positive and our family was able to use this situation to draw a positive. I have a seventeen year old son who came home from school and the first thing out of his mouth was “Did you hear about the republican VP’s daughter, she is pregnant and she is 17. Thank God I am not having sex it could be me. Mom you always have told me it could happen to anyone who is having relationship you were right.” I only hope other families with teenage children are having this discussion.

Here in Pennsylvania the female black bears are fierce defenders of their young; either when a threat is perceived or genuine. I can only imagine how the native grizzly and polar bears in Alaska react to attacks on their young. Probably devour their enemies in one sitting! Note to Palin: you go girl!

Comment by Kelli

These attacks have NO place in politics!!! This would not even be an issue if Palin was a man. How sad that our media is attacking her in this way. She is breaking that glass ceiling but shows that it doesn’t come easy….Obama is a black man and he didn’t have to overcome the hurdles Palin is as a woman. Again, this is so sad….and my heart goes out to her family and to her. My support is McCain/Palin 08. May God bless them and lift them up…may God be with that family. I too am pregnant with twins and at 30 years old am a bit overwhelmed…..I can only imagine the feelings a 17 year old is having. I hope the media will leave her alone and let her focus on this time in her life as she will never get it back! She is a beautiful girl…..and deserves to have this time as a private moment between her and her family and Levi.

Comment by Matthew Clark

I personally think that Sara Palins family life is just that. By attacking her and her family just shows people how there are two standards in the media. Barack doesn’t have to answer any questions about cocaine, his associations in the past, or his lack of experience. I am a conservative guy from the midwest and more excited about the election with Sara Palin as VP. I wish and hope the best for her and her family. The woman may not back her because they are jealous. It reminds me of high school. Any time a female was getting ahead they all ganged up on her and tore her down. I guess i thought woman got over that but it sure shows that some woman never grow up, to bad. Thanks for the great coverage last night and all the time.

Comment by Robert Harris

I consider myself to be an educated man. But words fail me in expressing the contempt and disgust I feel towards CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC and the left-wing, agenda-oriented print media. The anti Republican bias is so bad that is beyond belief. The attacks on Gov. Palin are sexist and demeaning. The comments about her daughter are disgusting. The attacks on her daughter are particularly ironic since a large section of the Democratic base are unwed, minority mothers. Where is the fairness? I will never vote for any Democrat again in my lifetime and I will never watch the news of any network or read any print media that participates in such hateful, biased attacks. Thank God we have Fox news to give some balance to the political coverage.

God bless Sarah Palin and her family, John McCain and the U.S.

Comment by Lyall

She would have raised her daughter the way she wanted, which I would say would be a proper, well mannered way. Sarah can’t be blamed for her daughters mistakes. She had no control over this. I would effect her campaign if she decided to throw her daughter out because of this though!

Comment by Kelley

What struck me about Sarah Palin initially is how calm and confident she appeared during her speech after she was revealed to be McCain’s pick for VP. I was totally enamored with her and what she brings to McCain. I have the utmost respect for John McCain’s service to this country and his dogged determination to bring federal spending under control. However, I was luke-warm about this election until Palin’s arrival.
Here’s a woman who has come a long way on her own, not on the politically-successful coattail of her husband. I personally believe that is what has the “feminists” in such a tizzy. Could it be that by watching these children grow (esp Trig) that feminists are reminded of the decisions they have made in their past? I have never had an abortion, but I can only guess that one of the many reasons that a woman would find it “necessary” is that a baby would interfere with her career.
Sarah Palin has chosen to have her children and SERVE the people, to make change in government to do the same, which brings me back to her demeanor in her first speech. A person who serves others would not be nervous but eager. She has proven herself in her own state, just ask the people of Alaska what they think. I am a conservative and I want a team that will go to Washington and CLEAN HOUSE NO MATTER THE PARTY AFFLIATION!!!
The unrelenting coverage of Bristol’s pregnancy is disgusting. I chose life at the age of 17 also. My son is now 24 years old with a bright future ahead of him. I too, married my high school sweetheart and we are still going strong.
In life “it’s not how hard you hit but how hard you get hit and keep moving forward” GO SARAH

Good Morning Alisyn,
First thing is, I am impressed with Governor Sarah Palin,
if this is not a double standard I dont know what is , I see the media is attacking Governor Palin, and her family and Palins executive experience,
Obama said shes a mayor of a small town, remember that small town America comment, things dont change do they, Obama a man with NO experience what so ever to be President, and the left doesnt know what to do, because Governor Sarsh Palin is a talanted Politician a legitmate candidate,
so they attack her family, in which will backfire on them, her daughter is doing the right thing in having the baby, and marry the father of the baby,
and they attack, the liberal media, MSM is disguisting,
I would not trust anything they say, Sarah Palin is a spectacular woman, and everybody I talked to, loves her,
McCain/Palin ticket, will be the winning ticket, you can take that to the bank.

Quit whining! This is all politics; a month after the election is over, regardless of who wins, all of the political rants will be forgotten. I hope you people are smarter than the posts that you leave. Take the blinders off of your eyes and see what this is really about and not what the media wants you to see.

You should vote for whoever you think will do the best job, forget how experienced, how sincere, how much money can be raised, how many people can be inspired, and spin the media puts on it and vote for what you believe.

There are those who will speak to McCain’s experience and time served in the military; there will be just as many who will tell you that Obama’s ability to inspire millions around the country are a reason to get your vote.

NO ONE KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN, WE DON’T KNOW WHO MAKE THE BEST PRESIDENT OR VICE PRESIDENT, WE JUST DON’T KNOW.

Comment by Dana

I truly believe this country as well as the media should leave Sarah Palin and her family completely out of the picture. Every mother has their “beliefs/rules” for their family, especially daughters. You, as a parent, give your children advice on abstinence, using condoms, taking birth control, etc. but no matter what we values we hope to instill in our daughters or sons for that matter, does not mean that they will listen fully to what we are telling them. Children nowadays let what their parents tell them go through one ear and out the other. So you cannot fault Sarah Palin for what her daughter has done in becoming pregnant. She apparently is a good mother and has done the best job in giving the advice any parent would give to their child; however, it is up the child whether or not they hinder to that advice. As Fox News reporters, Senator Obama and others have stated, THE CHILDREN/FAMILY SHOULD BE OFF LIMITS!!! And Sarah Palin should not be judged for what actions her daughter has taken as it is truly up to the daughter which direction she has chosen in life to take. May God bless Sarah Palin and her family during this most difficult time in judgement. The bible tells us not to judge one another and I think we should all, including the media, hinder to that advice given by the almighty one. Thank you.

Morning Ali,

Fantastic seeing you this morning. For those who think taking care of a family disqualifies someone from having a career should talk with E.D. Hill (8 I think), Gretchen and the lovely Miss Ali. There are many successful women who can do both. It is called multi-tasking and time management!

I don’t understand why everyone keeps talking about Gov. Palin’s baby not being her’s, that it’s her 17 yr. old daughter’s. Are people so stupid to think this? Gov. Palin’s baby is four months old and her daughter is five months pregnant! Hello! Also, Gov. Palin must be a really great choice for McCain otherwise the Dems would find some “real dirt” on her. I can’t wait for this election to be over. I’m so sick of the mudslinging. Obama says that family is off limits. He’s the one who started this with the Cindy McCain ad. He needs to quit talking out of both sides of his mouth!

I have been watching the news about Sarah Palin, and I’m very excited about her. We americans talk a good talk about how well we treat our women, comaparing to the Middle East. What I see, is the Far left beheading her (they might as well) We sit smuggly in our homes and watch this woman being shredded to pieces by the far left, there should be a huge outcry from all feminist out there. Where are they? Why are we sitting back and allowing this to happen?? Shame, Shame.

I think McCain could easily divert any negative press away from Palin by using a clever sports analogy to begin his speech, thus showing the lighter side of the Grand Ole Party.
I’m thinking something like this, “My friends, tonight I ask you…..are you reADY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!! A SUNDAY, MONDAY, AND SOME THURSDAY NIGHTS PARTY!”

Hi Alisynn.

As far as I am concerned this is a non issue. I am interested in what she has accomplished and not what her daughter or other children have been involved in. I am so angry about the smear campaign against Governor Palin and wonder if this is the way political campaigns should go now. Not only do we check the backgrounds of our elected officials but we should also check the backgrounds of their children. A good place to start would be Senator Edwards. Is Reille Hunter’s baby his? Should he be allowed to return to the senate if ths is his baby?
I am making the point that if we take the moral high ground then no official will ever be elected because unfortunately we are human, we and our children make mistakes.

I truly am sorry for what Sarah Palin’s l7 year old daugher is going through because of this smear by the democrats and women everywhere should be screaming. I know I am.

“THEY” forgot to mention that Bristol and her boyfriend had plans to get married before she found out she was pregnant. It is disgusting how thw media is acting – including US magazine. Their actions tell me one thing – They are all afraid because she has caused such a great feeling in the hearts of alot of Americans. I cannot wait to see her speech tonight. She will overcome!!

Sexist, immaterial and I wonder how many of the people pointing fingers at Sarah have little family secrets of their own they would not want made public. I personally do not know anyone who can stand up to this level of scrutiny. I do not want Sarah Palin’s daughter used as a example for other teenagers..however ripping a seventeen year old to pieces for political and personal gain is over the top even for CNN (Time Warner publications), MSNBC, NBC and the New York Times. Interesting to watch…sort of like a pack of wolves…waiting for the leader to draw blood so that the rest can rush in and tear their victim to pieces.

I do not include Fox News or any Fox News reporter in that description Alisyn. One thing all of us understand about you Alisyn you are always fair and balanced in your approach to a story.

Good Morning Alisyn

Can’t miss a day to say hi to Alisyn.
I’m glad Brian put the situation with Palins brother in law in clear and simple terms.
Although I do kinda believe that abstinance only education is a little archaic, with stds and all, but what happened to Palins daughter happens all over the country every day. Get off their back.
The Dems and pro-choicers would have actively pursued this girl to give all the info on abortions that they could. What they don’t tell you is, since 2003, over 5,000,000 American babies have been aborted, most simply as a form of birth control. No matter how you put it, honest to god christians don’t murder babies. Palin doesn’t believe in abortion for rape victims or incest victims. OK…that’s harsh. Definately. But Obama believes it’s OK to kill a baby in the 8th month, 9th month….
Which party applauds infanticide?
McCain/Palin 2008

I think that Sarah Palin will do great! Her daughter’s pregnancy has no place in the media, it happened and the daughter and her family are dealing with it.
What really is amazing is the story that I just read in the WAshington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/02/AR2008090202730.html?hpid=topnews about the deal with Fox News executives and Obama, now the coverage of the Dem conventions makes sense! I am absolutely disgusted that Bill O’Reilly will air an interview with Obama the same night MCCain is announced! As if the reverse would ever happen on and of the “liberal media stations” So what does that make Fox now?

Comment by Teresa

I had worried that racism would rear it’s ugly head in this country with the nomination of Barack Obama for president. I feel proud of our country’s attitude toward that, despite the fact that I don’t agree with Obama’s politics. However… after the abominable sexist treatment of Hillary Clinton by her own party and the news media, I was surprised to see that sexism may have been the real flaw in our country’s attitudes. Sarah Palin and her familiy’s treatment has reaffirmed this fear. Sexism is alive and well under the stars and stripes. I hope that all people, who are appalled and outraged by this, will rise up and show their support for women with their votes. All I can say is “Get Sarah some kevlar and You GO Girl!”

Comment by Phyllis DeFrange

Everyone knows someone that this has happened to. How they handle it is the real issue and it seems the Palin family is handling it with grace. I am so excited about her nomination, I think I may run for mayor of our small town in Oklahoma.

Comment by Cheryl in VA

The women in this country should be screaming. I know I am. Not only is the left trying to smear Governor Palin but they have decided to take her l7 year old daughter down with her. If this is the way we have decided to go in politics then I think all children of elected officials should be checked as well. Also, we need to check the officials’ background to see if they have children by other women and if the female officials have ever had a terminated pregnancy. John Edward would be a good start. Do you see where I am going with this?

Good Morning Alisyn,

The media coverage of Sarah Palin’s daughter is disgusting. This media coverage is typical of the liberal left and what WE need to stand up against it!

The teen made a mistake-don’t we all- but she is doing the right thing and her family is there to support her. This is a human being we are talking about. They are grasping at straws and because they view Sarah as a threat they are going after her daughter to try to beat her down. What the left doesn’t realize is that this barrage against her daughter will actually make Sarah Palin stronger. Moms protect their children and she can protect OUR children by making good decisions for America when she gets into office as a VP.

I am not voting for Palin simply because she is a woman. Sarah Palin has worked hard to get where she is as governor and has a lot of the same ideals as me and a lot of other moms across the country. I think you’ll see a lot of feminist liberals say that they are not for her, but when they get in the voting booth their desire to see a woman in office will cause THEM to vote for Sarah- they won’t admit it in public though.

Her daughter does not matter. Why should it matter. Many Americans have childern have who have children when they are teenagers. She is a working mother that symbolizes what Americans are. The media is so slanted from the Liberal looking glass. Nancy Pelosi has 5 childern. My wife and I are working hard and loving our careers. I am on the road 6 months out of the year and at certain times of the year she has to work 18 hour days for 2 weeks at a time. Are we bad parents? Are we not loving? Now some in the media want her to take a DNA test to prove her son is her’s not her daughters. WOW. I read articals from the AP today mostly stating the negative about her. I have yet to read articals about Obama’s negatives or Biden’s. So if you dont do your research you do not know. You just get what is on the main stream media or papers. Ridiculous, appalling and down right discusting.

Comment by Rebecca Smith

I think it is preety funny that they are questioning the parenthood of Mrs. Palin’s baby who is 4 months old – and her daughter is 5 months pregnant. Can these people not count? I have not heard of anyone getting pregnant while being pregnant. She would have had to have gotten pregnant while she was in her 9th month! What idiots.

Comment by Randi

Hi Alisyn, Always great to see you. I don’t think her daughter should be involved in this at all, however we all know that people will say bad things about Palin’s parenting & compare it to her V.P. If Obama’s kids were teens and pregnant would we be talking bad about them? Yes, I think so. You can teach & lecture kids until your literally blue in the face & they will still do what they want, or what they think they want, and try to get away with things. I raised two daughters & it was hard. I had my first at 19yrs. old. Should I have waited? Of course, but wouldn’t change it. I’m just worried teens will think “oh the v.p.’s daughter did it & got away with it, so can I”. Hopefully teens that have gone through this(like Bristol) can go out & educate other teens. Also, not all media is being nasty about this, Most channels I had on were agreeing that her daughter should be kept out of it. Palin needs one heck of a speech tonight, not because of her daughter, because she was a surprise & media, and most of us, don’t appreciate surprises. Thanks, and have a good day Alisyn.

As a stay at home dad, I have enormous respect for Sarah Palin. The fact that she has been able to accomplish what she has while raising a huge family ( not to mention the fact that shes a woman and apparently has higher standards to meet than a man) says alot about her character and fortitude. I have a new found respect for mothers and the obstacles they face every day. Sarah Palin has and will accopmlish more than most men would even dream of. (and she’s hot!) The fact that she did not remove herself from consideration for VP because of her family should be looked at as a good thing. She is not just telling her daughter but is showing her what a determined woman with a family can do. Not held back by her family but stronger because of it!

Greetings:

I think even more so this issue shows us that no matter who you are you deal with real life issues. I am glad the Gov is going to love her child through this time.

This should not affect someone’s vote. This is note a voting issue to me.

As far as her having children and working: Do you realize how many men and women defend our country and leave thier kids a year at a time to do so. I don’t hear people crying for that cause – because they want to be protected… Please, this is not an issue unless there is NO parent home to care for them.

Also, this rediculous rumor going around saying her son is really her daughters. Come on – you can’t be 5 months preg. and have a 4 month old. HELLO not possible!

Anyway, I am excited about Sen MacCain and will be voting for him no matter what.

As I recall, one of the most famous photographs of the JFK collection was of the President at his desk with young John playing under it. The curtain has been pulled back and the wizard has been exposed, it is the fraudulent media shouting lies, pulling the strings, blowing the smoke.

Comment by Pat Cook

I feel that it’s not the mistakes your children make that questions your parenting skills, but how the children take responsibility for those mistakes. The most important thing a parent should remember when raising teenagers is not to expect their children won’t sometimes make bad choices, but convey to their children that while you will always love and support them, you expect them to have the character, and bravery to take resposibilty for their actions.
I think Governor Palin has demonstrsted that.

Great to see you this morning, Ali.

You look Mah-velous today!!!

As far as Sarah Palin’s children go, the question should not even be brought up.

This is proof once again of the bias that the media has not only against conservatives, but women in power.

There is no place for this kind of cheap, double-standard, unwarranted attacks on Sarah Palin and her family. How low will the far left go? If Obama is serious about distancing himself from it, then why did he not condemn The Daily Coast? The answer has more to do with him satisfying his base, which is clearly the leftwing hyperpartisans in his party.

Sarah Palin is a self-made woman, with a proven record of Executive governing experience. Further, she presides over and has cleaned up corruption in the 40 billion dollar energy industry in Alaska. Proof positive that she lends an expertise of great importance to the American people right now. She is the genuine article, and I can certainly relate to her on many levels.

As far as the Palin families problem, it is No Ones business!! The child is not the first to have a baby at 17 and I will bet she is not going to be the last. I think the people that are yelling the most should worry more about the issues of our country, they are a whole lot more important, the Palin’s will work this out. “OBAMA has said Kid’s are off limits ” I guess he can not control his people, so what make us think he is ready to lead a country. I just heard on the news that someone is calling for a test to see that Sarah’s 4 month old is hers what are these people thinking, this is not a school yard fight this is the most important job get to the true issues.

Thanks

This is not about the media! This is about a 17 year old that made a mistake and got caught. There is no difference in this young lady having sex and getting caught (now she’s having a baby) than having sex and being on the pill and not having a baby it is all wrong if you are not married. It is only the Grace of God that it is noy you and I that our 14, 15 or 17 year old daughters have came home and told us the same thing. There is more to this than safe sex there has to be NO sex before marriage that is the only way! And it takes alot to keep a child boy or girl to commit from doing that before marriage they have to know deep in their hearts that it is WRONG!!!

One more point from today’s show with Brian, Gretchen, and Steve…. Gretchen! You scored some points bigtime by standing up to Lanny Davis. I understand and appreciate the need to show both sides, and Bob Beckel is palatable, but Lanny Davis is the most politically driven spin-doctor out there. It is torture to listen to him drone on, but you hammered him on the double standard being applied against Sarah Palin today.

Great job Gretchen!

hi aly,
sarah’s speech tonite will make or break the election-it has to be monumental-she must have several catch phrases that can ignite, motivate and move the populous to action-
how many parents have daughters that have become pregnant w/o being married? millions-so
it may not be as detrimental as once thought-we will have to see if her handlers turn this into a positive-
this time last year, if one would have said that hillary would be bumped by a freshman senator,it would have seemed unbelievable-if jimmy carter was paraded on stage at the dnc as a model of an effective administration-anything is possible-true in life-especially true in politics-

I am a PRO-CHOICE Republican woman and a former county legislator – I admire Sarah Palin and take my hat off to her and her husband for stepping into this arena. My kids were 11 and 7 when I first took office and my husband was instrumental in making it possible to balance all of the demands.
She will have a unique opportunity to bring attention to the needs of families with down’s syndrome – when I was growing up many of these remarkable kids were hidden away and institutionalized. I had a friend whose brother had down’s. I knew her for several years before I even knew she had a brother. When I finally met him during a brief home visit, he was wonderful and fun – yet they hid him in the house and only a handful of people knew he was there. Now these kids and their families are reaching their full potential.
Sarah, Todd and their daughter can show families how they deal with a teenage pregnancy. Their “choice” is to support their daughter and her child. Not that long ago these young mothers were hidden away or forced to have abortions. They had abortions because they had no “choice”. I believe this still happens today in some cases. This may help other families dealing with this issue. This is true “choice” when all options- even supporting your pregnant daughter – are available. As a pro-life family, they can be an inspiration to others.
The only politician I agreed on for every vote they took is ME! Honestly, I would change some of those votes if I knew then what I know now. I found a man I agreed more than half the time and I married him! When I find a politician I can agree with most of the time – they get my vote!
Sarah Palin talks the talk and walks the walk. You go girl!

I do not believe Mrs. Pailin’s children should be part of any negitive campaign publicity. I think that anytime you have kids doing great things they should be patted on the back and told “Well Done” but in this case the fact that her 17 year old daughter is preganant should not have been made public knowledge in my opinion.

That said, I hope Sarah Pailin takes it by the horns and smacks the press in the face with the fact that she and her family along with the young man’s family have talked, and the kids have arrived at a decision that will affect their lives forever. It may not be a bad decision. It is one my wife and I made 40 years ago this coming March. We have two children and six grandchildren ……….all the loves of our lives. My wife and I beat the odds now that we approach our 40th wedding anniversary. She was 17 turning 18 and I turned 19 on Saturday with our wedding the following Friday. We both worked at being good parents with my wife at home and me working full time as I attened and graduated from college.

Life is not always easy but starting a family in this manner is not the worst thing that can happen to some folks. Kids and family may be the most important parts of that ENTIRE families choices in life.

Gov. Pailin not only talk’s the talk, and walks the walk but she can “ride the hide” so to speak as the Bull Riders at the Rodeo’s say. She seems to stand for what is right and fair and for life, not only of the baby her daughter is bringing into the world but for all of the people that want to run their own lives.

I think her as a choice is one of the best choices John McCain has made in this election. I think both McCain and Pailin need to really crack down on the Oboma failure to ever contribute something meaningful during his career that could be considered something good for the public and not just the Black Public.

I was watching Fox & Friends this morning when a democratic “contributor” mentioned that the families of the candidates should be off limits and in the SAME BREATH, he said that women were the ones throwing the stones the most! Unbelievable, he was saying out of one side of his mouth that it was wrong. Then out of the other side making more about it and making SURE that people in the back of their minds are thinking that even women are against this woman running. AND that women believe that she is not good as a candidate because her kid got pregnant. Who cares? The best parent in the world can’t stop their child from doing things they might regret, they can only love them through their mistake … lets stop trying to take the focus off the stupid things we have been talking about and put it on the ability the candidates have to do their jobs.

CNN is inaccurate when they implied last night that Sarah Palin has bad judgement because of the pregnancy of her daughter. The pregnancy was a result of her teenage daughter’s judgement, not Governor Palin’s. On the other hand, I listened to Michelle Obama twice last week in CNN interviews say that her husband had not seen any reason to get married- that he did not think marriage was really needed in a relationship. This is poor judgement, and it is judgement of the Presidential candidate himself, not of a seventeen year old teenageer who will have absolutely no impact on leading our country.

By the way, I will stop flipping between CNN and FOX after last night. CNN crticized every aspect of the Republican Convention (including the entertainment), rudely cutoff every contributor who was not a staunch Democrat (if they gave them the opportunity even speak at all), and continually displayed through their delivery the anger and bitterness that is characteristic of the party they support. It was immature and poor journalism. Thank you for being fair, FOX News.

I really don’t have anything to add (that hasn’t already been expressed here). I do, however, have a question. I wonder if Michelle Obama is proud of her country for a second time because of all the drivel that is emanating from her political party and the pathetic attempts to trash a legitimate candidate and her family.

God bless Sarah Palin, her family and the United State of America.

The whole thing sickens me – I wonder what we would see if all politicians, past and current, were lined up, side by side on stage with their unmarried sons and daughters. I wonder how many of them, if exposed, would be revealed to have had premarital sex, pregnancies and abortions. Then I wonder how many of them had the guts to not kill the baby, and the fortitude to stand up in front of God and the U.S.A. and the world and its rabid reporters and carry that pregnancy through. I wonder how many chose death and how many chose life.

Sarah Palin will not let this smarmy gossipy slimey crap of the far vicious left deter her from her mission. I cannot WAIT to hear her next speech! She is in our prayers.

While I do not approve of Sen Mccain’s choice of a running mate, I mean come on, who is she???? That is no reason to bring her daughter or anything about her family. There isn’t a president yet that hasn’t had skeletons in his closet, let’s look at the track record of one of our earlier Presidents. By the way, if it matters, I am a Republican and my vote is going elsewhere. As far as my opinion counts, I don’t like the fact that the Rep canidate picks a VP just to win over Hilary’s delegates and votes.

As a 42 year old women I can multitask far better than any man I know. I can have many things going at once, my husband with the masters degree can only do one thing at a time. I often said, if you want to get something done give it to a 30-40 something Mom of at least 2 kids, and she will complete the task to perfection.

Sarah Palen is awesome, and has my vote. I pray for her family! It is hard enough being a 17 yr old girl. It is a nightmare being 17 and unexpectly pregnant. But it must be hell on earth for her being 17, pregnant, and having a Mother runnig for VP. with what the mean media leftist is saying! It is sad that educated, smart adults have to drag a poor young teenage women through the mud the way they have been the last 3 days! These media meanys tried to bury the Edwards story, and lets not forget the famous blue dress in the Oval office. The peoples house!

Let those who live in glass houss cast the first stone!!

Thank you for being fair and balanced fox news! The US covers of Sarah Palin and the Obamas are another example of the hatred in the media toward the right. Please keep showing this, it is a great example!

You know, I was watching CBS this morning and I heard the reporter asking if Ms. Palin would be capable of handling the duties of VP with a Downs Syndrome child. If she were a Dem, she’d be hailed as being brave and competent, this would be a non-issue as well.

Comment by Carlton Hansen

Isn’t it amazing how all of the media has gone after Sarah Palin and her daughter and left Joe Biden alone? I feel for that 17 year old girl who should not be the center of media attention. I heard Mort Kondracke make a disgusting statement on Special Report two nights ago about the daughter and abstinence and was called on the carpet by Bill Krystol (good for Bill). Biden gets a pass because he is liberal, Palin gets crucified because she is a conservative.

I am sure Bristol has suffered terribly because of her choice and feels badly about disappointing her parents and the media only exacerbates her pain. She does not need more pain heaped on her and she needs to be left alone.

I watched Gretchen Carlson get fired and angry this morning, but where was the anger yesterday? Fox is the only news channel I watch, but sadly they have milked this story as well. It is time for the media to quit spurring this horse and dismount. Enough is enough, including Fox.

I think that it is something that needs to be disclosed because Republicans for years have held the morality meter. Remember she was billed as someone that could balance it all (family and work). I beelive she probably feels that she failed her daughter, but it is not her burden to bare. Now is it a campaign issue? no. I like Obama’s comment in regards to his mother being 18 years old when he was born.

I would also like to say that I think it would most definitely be on the table if it were a democractic party issue or a fathers daughter because of the morality aspect- I also think that is should still not be an issue.

One other thing – how did her daughters pregnancy and decision to keep the baby become her mothers decision for her to keep and have the baby. I think as a mother you support decisions of your children and love them regardless of the decisions they make and be there for them (given her daughters age).

I am pro-life, but I also think it is my decision to decide not the courts

I think that the Republican campaign is staying away from the morality issue this time because of John McCains past and with the issues going on in the Palin household (husbands DUI). In the past it has been said that it goes to character, but I think we are learning that there is so much more to a persons character .

I also would like for those in politics to not confuse liberal media with the Democratic campaign. They are not the same – no more than FoxNews and the Republican campaign are the same.

BTW Obama has done good for ALL black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. and most importantly he has done for people that are disadvantaged Check your facts before you start throwing accusations. What has McCain done for all people not just the wealthy! Remember he coted against increasing benefits to disabled vets, he has voted against the balance of wages for women, and lets not forget he voted for an un called for war.

Question to the masses – what will it mean for the US to win the war in Iraq? When we know that it is not on terror. When it will not bring the country wealth (although that was the intention). It will not bring us respect in the world. Just what exactly will it bring?

What is Sarah supposed to do?? Kick her daugter out?? No matter how you raise your kids they sometimes do the wrong thing. And the fact the lib media is using her daughter to destroy Sarah is disgusting. The lib media has no ethics, professionally of personally. They are guilty of Journalistic Malpractice. What they are doing to Sarah is going to blow up in their faces like a thermonuclear blast. Sarah is a very tough individual. She can take any punch these week kneed libs throw at her. She was asked last week if she had any concerns about the media coming after her. Her reply was “Do you know what the difference is between a pit bull and a hockey mom? Lipstick”. Sarah’s going to make them look like a bunch of fools.

Just listening to all these liberals taking shots at Governor Palin’s family, I am beginning to reconsider my view on my Pro Life stance. Is it possible to invoke pro-choice on a retro active basis?

Comment by Mary

Governor Palin’s children should be a non-issue, or we’ll have to ask whether any parent of even one minor child should be working at any job that will sometimes take precedence over time with the child. Of course I don’t know how anyone will be able to financially support a child under these restrictions, but the discussions of this matter are rapidly moving away from soap-opera to science fiction anyway.

The Dems themselves have one of the best examples of being able to parent very young children while connected to the White House: Anyone else remember the charming photos of Caroline and John-John Kennedy playing in the Oval Office while their father worked at his desk and Jackie was no where in sight? Must have been his turn to watch the kids! (Otherwise it was blatant exploitation of the children for political photo ops and I don’t think that was ever suggested even by his opponents.)

As for the nastiest of the nastiness: The medical and statistical liklihood of a teenage girl giving birth to a child with Down syndrome is so low that it’s off the charts. Someone needs to point that out to the fact-challenged liberals.

Keep up the good reportage — my votes are for Fox News and McCain/Palin.

Comment by Lynn

The thing about pregnancy is that it’s self-disclosing.

I think the more scurrilous attacks (coughcoughdailykoscoughcough) are appalling and have no place anywhere anytime in civilized society.

Given Mrs. Palin’s very public views on sex ed and her very public religiosity (which she mixes with her politics every chance she gets), and given that her name on the Republican ticket constitutes blatant pandering to the religious right, I think it’s fair to point out the underlying hypocrisey here.

Also, Mrs. Palin knew about this and went forward anyway out of personal ambition. In retrospect, standing her obviously preggers underage daughter up there on the stage with her own infant draped across the poor girl’s tummy to hide the fact until they could figure out how to spin the story to their best advantage seems beyond repulsive and grasping on the part of Mrs. Palin.

I was on the fence before this — not really an Obama supporter, not really a McCain supporter — yet more inclined to vote for McCain. Now there’s no way in hell I’ll vote for him, especially given his age — there are pretty good odds she just might become president one day should he win (which he pretty much assured he won’t with this VP pick). I’ll vote Libertarian for certain now.

Re Palin’s daughter discussions. The entire situation should have no place in the news media. I wish they would drop it! I’ve already sent an email to Campbell Brown/CNN this morning expressing my sincere disappointment in her recent comments. She has lowered her reputation as far as I’m concerned.

As an American Im sickened by this trash politics. The double standards in this country are out of control. barrack Obama and his wife and family are off limits but Sarah and her family are allowable targets? It is an embarrassment that this country and the left wing media show the world and our children this kind of trash journalism is ok. As a woman Im APPALLED to target a 17 year old? it could happen to anyone of us as parents and its hard enough to deal with moving the family on . AGAIN Im APPALLED at this smear campaign. If this is the way to get voters by smearing and destroying them then the American Political system is a crying shame.

Tired of the personal “blah-blah’blah” in the political arena. Lets all just talk about the universal problems in our country. What are the candidates going to do about Russia? About taxes? About the middle east? How are they going to keep our economy booming? Where do they stand on asparagus?

The pregnancy of Gov. Palin’s daughter has no business being in the news. It is a disgrace that it is even being discussed. The mainstream media is clearly showing a bias against her and against women in general. Why aren’t they asking Obama how he is going to parent his children and bash him for putting his children through the scrutiny of a national election. I guess since they minimize the skeletons in his closet it is okay for his kids.
They bring up about Palin’s husband having a DUI 22 years ago. Her husband is not even the candidate. Lets not forget that the democratic presidential candidate is the one who used ILLEGAL drugs.
The media has brought up about Palin being involved with an Independence party in Alaska. Do we have to mention again about Obama’s reverend and his friend the terrorist.
Obama & “his” media have said that she has no experience. She has more than he does. He claims that his experience running his campaign gives him executive experience. Is he on drugs again? You can’t claim the experience running for office qualifies you to hold that office!!!! His only “experience has been a few years in the Senate. When is he there, he has been campaigning for president for almost 2 years. What has he done in the Senate other than vote “present”. Take a stand on something Obama.
Palin has been a mayor and a governor. She has executive experience. She has experience being commander of the Alaskan National Guard.
Obama should stop taking about her not having experience. She is the VP nominee not the Presidential nominee.
By the way, I am a registered democrat. I will be voting for McCain/Palin.

I don’t think Sarah’s daughters predicament has anything to do with this election. I would like to see the firestorm had this been a Democratic female black candidate. Why is Obamas “crack” usuage not coming up but a 22 year old DUI making the news? Every family has problems and what this is really all showing is that she is just like the rest of us. Sarah was a great choice, a real go getter and running a State takes far more intelligence and experience than sitting around analyzing which bills to pass that will benefit his buddies and pushing a button to vote on them.

As for the “US Weekly” piece; it is so biased, malicious, and unfair – Conservative consumers CAN do something about this…

If all the conservatives who are as disgusted as I am about this:

(A) complain to thier stores about this issue and ask them to pull it from the shelves! and..

(B) write to the advertisers and ask them to pull thier advertising from this issue (and maybe future issues), it might have an impact!

If enough people act on this, and make our disgust known, then I think that would send a loud message…

I know I will be contacting our local grocery stores today….

I cannot wait to watch Sarah Palin tonight at the RNC!! I believe she has what it takes to be a great VP. I loved Peter Doocy’s report – Mom’s can do it all!! She obviously is a loving mom and has a great supportive husband and famly. Her children and their personal lives should be off limits. I would take Pailin over Obama any day!! She obviously knows how to make decisions and get things done. I heard someone say that Obama has more experience because he has run a great campaign – has he really run this campaign? Or does he have campaign managers and staffers run it every step of the way. As an aside, shame on Mr. Dukakis for his “vicious truth” comments this morning.

Wow Fox! You guys seem to think that discussing Palin’s public service, family, relationships, statements, views, and beliefs are unfair? All these things have been front page stories the Obamas and Clintons have been dealing with for the last 11 months. As a matter of fact this is the way the media in this country does business this is american politics at its finest. Where was all the outrage for biased media attention then? But I guess, since you have been part of the problem and it was your party agenda and affiliations benefiting it was not an issue then. Palin like Obama will just have to be a big girl and weather it just like Obama has done. And just a quick note for you I am a conservative at heart but follow an independent thinking that doesn’t look at party affiliations as I think both parties fall short on values, morale, and common sense to get my country back on track.

Hi everyone, Sarah Palin’s daughter being pregnant has no business in politics, the left wingers are truley awful… I have loved Peter Doocy clips, it very scarey that some of the people he has interviewed can vote!!! I too am really disgusted that O’Reily will have obama on this week smooth move by obama coming on in the middle of RNC, dumb move by O’Reily!!!!

GO PALIN AND GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOX NEWS YOU GUYS ARE DOING AN AWESOME JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teenagers! You do your best to raise them. In the end they do what they want to do. I had a daughter who was the most pleasant obedient child. Then all of a sudden then became the most rebellious obnoxious kid ever (I have 3) she was the worst adolescent. All 3 raised the same, all have different personalities, one was the strongest willed and rebelled. She has since “outgrown” that stage in her life and is happily married to a wonderful young man and both are serving as ministers. It is a shame that the media has made such a big issue of this. Taking the focus away from the real issues. Even Senator Obama said the politicians children are off limits. I just want ot say to the left winged liberal media get over it, and focus on what is important. I am looking forward to hearing Gov. Palin tonight.

Comment by troberts

I agree with Cyrus. Think the McCain camp is fuelling all of this talk about Gov. Palin. Give it a rest. That includes the people here at Fox. You people keep going on and on about this. How sexist it is, how the left is dong this or that. Give it a rest. Trying to appeal to women and getting their votes just won’t work this time.

I seem to remember it was not too long ago when our “then-current” President informed the press that his daughter, Chelsea was”off limits” to them … and the press honored that “request” (and apparently continues to do so to this day.) But then, he was a Democrat! That must be the difference.

Alisyn,

This really shouldn’t be an issue, but the mainstream media can’t help but jump all over this issue. What an opportunity for them to try to give Obama a boost! Why are they not reporting on Biden’s brothers and son’s legal issues?
Although I believe disclosure does have a place in politics, most family matters are not necessary for the public to know. This is one of those issues.
I think this should play to Palin’s abstinence policy because this shows how twisted our society has become. I’m 19 and a student at ASU, believe me, I know these things.
I think Palin will address this issue briefly tonight, but it will not be enough for the left.

Comment by Chris

I am enthused that there is the potential for a female vice president, but I don’t think people are focusing on the appropriate issues (being a woman is not why women should vote for her). Overall Sarah Palin lacks the experience we need, and I would not at all be comfortable with her running our country, in fact I would be terrified. I would rather have BUSH continue his reign! She can’t even manage her family, which is why her teenage daughter is pregnant. People can argue that parents don’t control teenagers, but parents, especially mothers, guide the decisions of teenagers, and obviously she lacked in giving proper guidance. How will she guide our country?? I realize the issue of her teenage daughter being pregnant should be personal, but let’s be realistic. It speaks to her character, whether or not the republicans will admit it. I think McCain has ruined his chance to become president by selecting her as his VP choice, and even though I am a woman I will NEVER vote for Palin. Substance, not gender is what matters!!

I am a leadership consultant and coach – the dialogue this week (and during Clinton’s campaign) concerns me. I watched this morning and all week as the media chose authors like Megan Besham – Beside Every Successful Man and Leslie Steiner – Mommy Wars to comment on and react to the issues raised by the Palina and Clinton candidacies but mostly Palin.

While these two authors have interesting reads – last year an incredible book was released: Through the Labyrinth: The Truth About How Women Become Leaders (Center for Public Leadership) (Hardcover) by Alice H. Eagly (Author), Linda L. Carli (Author)

Where are these two academicians and their ground breaking research in this conversation about women and leadership?

The findings and recommendations in their book and article that appeared in Harvard Business Review revealed what now appears to be a haunting prophecy about the truth behind how women become leaders and how they are treated during the journey and once they arrive.

I cannot understand why Palin’s decision to run is not seen as an incredible testimony to both her daughter’s choices and her co-responsibility to nurture her other children. Could it be that her choice tells her daughter – You are not the choices you make but what you make of the choices? I will not hide with you nor encourage you to hide in shame. I will teach you that we have to be accountable to our choices and face them chin up. She is a pregnant teen and she will have to learn now how to own that decision. Could it also be that Palin’s decision role models to her daughter – one day you too can run, even though you made a poor decision – you can absolutely pull through this and be incredibly special? Even a leader? Why not? A punished teen parent and an embarrassed mother is a good thing? How?

Should Hiliary’s adult choice to stay with a good president but a continually philandering spouse suggest that she too has poor judgment and cannot be trusted with the White House? Did she or her husband show poor judgment by exposing Chelsea to media scrutiny? Maybe so. But if we keep looking for this kind of perfection in candidates, if we think the vetting is tough now, good heavens Christ himself might have a hard time passing our test.

As for Palin’s infant son, she is married. Her partner is a co-parent. Can he not be as primary or important a care giver with as much ability, compassion, and influence as mom? If we choose to emphasize one parent over another, what precedent do we set for how women, mothers, families and our community all support our children?

When John Adams chose to leave his wife, children and farm in Braintree, Mass to gain support for the Revolutionary War – and did not return from France even when his daughter was dying and his wife needed help – did he get labeled as a bad parent or poor leader? Or as hero and sacrificial servant leader?

Clinton and Palin were called to serve and thank goodness like Adams – they felt free enough and called enough to answer. Folks (and ladies especially), we have got to get consistent with the equality and fairness we say we want and unified in our approach or we will never be the country that makes us so unique and so special in the global community.

I certainly hope you and the other media will locate Drs. Eagly and Carli and begin a new conversation that will enlighten and teach us something about the impact of the Clinton and Palin candidacies on women in leadership.

Or, we may lose too many good women who watch this debate and simply say too much baggage, too many responsibilities that I have to bear on my own and alone – run for office, lead others?

No way.

Alisyn,

Have you ever looked at the Fox and Friend webpage?

It still lists E.D.Hill with Steveand Brian—How very lame. E.D. has been gone for a year+—-and it also talks about Mancow

Really, that is pit-i-ful Maybe you could suggest they update it. By the way–where is one of my favorites E.D. now?

Lastly—Three Barack spokespeople today have referred to Mayor Palin on FOX. Please pass the word to all Fox hosts that she should be called Governor! If you referred to Barack as Councilperson Obama all hell would break loose. I scream at the TV screen host (last was Martha) but she isn’t hearing me. That is slimey politics,

Alisyn,

You comment that Speaker Pelosi working with 5 childern is different then Gov. Palin’s situation
because all her kids are all grown up now. Well this doesn’t take into account that when Pelosi started work they wern’t all growed up. So—How come she was working back when they were kids? Was that O.K. with the Dems?

Comment by Alesia Conley

Sarah Palin epitomizes the image of many working women juggling many roles and doing it successfully and with apparent grace. Her family and situations with her children should be private unless they are involved with politics such as Sen. Biden’s son. Her daughters pregnancy does not reflect badly on her parenting skills or belief about abstinence. Our children will grow up and make their own choices. We can but love them and keep them close. GO McCAIN/PALIN God Bless

Comment by Brad

We all know that if Sarah Palin were a liberal democrat this obviously wont be happening. Its disgusting how the liberal mainstream media has absolutely no class whatsoever, so they find all the dirt in the word to smear at this successful and intelligent woman.

I also think even though BHO made a statement the other day saying that politician’s children are off limits, its a little too late, especially after its someone who works in his campaign, was the one who started these smears.

Comment by Brad

Plus i saw that discussion during the first ten minutes of F&F, about how the US Weekly is showing biased liberal favortism to BHO. I used to be a huge fan of that magazine, simply because celeb news gossip always interests me. Well, it looks like its another publication i wont be reading very often.

In addition to Sarah Palin’s speech, i am also lookiing forward to Linda Lingle’s also. I heard she was the first women Governor of the State of Hawaii, a place where i visit often, and i hope to live there one day :)

This is a reply to the following comment made by Pat in Minnesota: “I find it hard to believe that they use her time as mayor of a city of 9,000 people as “executive experience”. If you know me, I’m a big pro-ponent of women moving ahead in the the workplace or in politics or whatever the case may be, but a person needs a certain amount of time and experience to take on a position which could possibly make them the leader of the free world.”

Perhaps she is lacking in experience. However, she at least has run a business, a city, and a state. Barack Obama is an excellent orator but outside of that his experience has been a few years as a state legislator and then he ran for the US Senate to provide a forum for his candidacy as President. Perhaps I am missing the substance of his resume but I would prefer that the person on the top of the ticket have experience.

You want to run for office on the local, State, or federal level. Nothing is off limits. If you have a daughter and she can’t keep an asprin between her knees then you will pay the price. In the news business, as Ali well knows, we do not care if you go to church regularly. We do not care if you have five kids and they are all on the honor roll. What we care about is what bleeds in the news. This is why Ali and company have a job. If you have a family member who has done something stupid in their life Ali and company will discuss it until it simply will not play out on the television. They will make a moutain out of a mole hill puff the story up untill it will not bleed any longer. That’s their life and their job and it is what makes Fox, Cnn, and all the rest make you drunk with their news. Sooooo if you are thinking about running for a position in government, make sure you and all who are connected to you never did anything wrong. Nothing is off limits.

I am one of those 50+ women who staunchly supported Hillary Clinton. When she was not even considered as a possible running mate for Mr. Obama I was very disappointed and didn’t know what I was going to do (the last time I voted for a Republican was in 1972). Well, I listened to Gov. Palin’s first speech and was quite impressed. I am looking forward to her speech tonight (Wednesday 9-3). What are the democrats afraid of? If the best they can do is put her down for supporting her husband for a 22 year old mistake, supporting her sister through a divorce and supporting her daughter during this time; then she must actually be the remarkable woman that she appeared to be in her first speech. What makes those men think that she can’t manage the job of vice president or even president? She manages to be a great wife, a wonderful supportive mother and a Governor. Women in general are remarkable multitaskers. Governor Sarah Palin has my vote!

Hi Alysin,

Just checking in…good comments, as usual from this very informed group of people. I guess I will be watching another channel on Thursday evening, as Bill O, is having his interview with the jr senator fr Illinois. I guess he finally decided that people who watch FOX, actually do vote? Perhaps…but, a brilliant move on his part, as he decided he must come on the show, it would seem, and the ONLY moment he is available is on Thursday. Hummm…but is ok, as I will watch the convention, and then catch the interview on re-run…..
We are all anxiously awaiting Gov. Palin’s speech tonite. I suspect she will do just fine. This is huge, but she is very used to being in the public eye, it would seem, and I am sure she is very capable of taking care of business. I must add that forty year old woman are awesome!!! Those that wish to attack her, especially off message, need to beware! If they doubt me, they might have a discussion with their mom??? ~~smiling~~ Yep…for sure.

I was raised a Democrat my whole life and voted for Hillary in the primary but after watching ALL the coverage and the sexist attack by my own party by CNN especially Cafferty and the US magazine article to name a few I can say they helped make up my mind. I am voting for McCain Palin. I am ashamed of the party that I have backed for so long that they would stoup this low to attack a 17 year old girl and to spread lies. When the publisher of US’s response that he did not include the fact that Palin’s husband’s DUI was 22 years ago is outrageous and I will never purchase another magazine from them. I wasn’t sure who I wanted to back but I can tell you know I’ve made up my mind and McCain Palin has my vote and my voice to everyone that I talk to….

It happens to the best of families in America. What does it have to do with her qualifications of being Vice President? I’m tired of hearing the mainstream liberal media grasping as strings to make her publicly look bad. And by the way, how can anybody say that she is not qualified to be a Vice President. I don’t remember Biden being a Vice President before, and actually having experience in that job.

If Sarah Palin was on Obama’s ticket, there wouldn’t be an issue.I find it an astounding, and amusing thing that the lefties are actually worried about values all of a sudden. …..I also think that they are running scared, and feel very threatned by Bristol’s mother for very obvious reasons, after hearing her speech last night…..But it isn’t just about Bristol either,Her Dad was arrested for a DUI when He was 22 yrs old,and they’ve thrown that into the mix….This was about the same time Obama was abusing Cocaine…..The lefties are shooting themselves in the foot,if you ask me,because a lot of Obama’s old dirty laundry will start to resurface,I’m afraid….Sometimes its just better to keep your mouth shut.
I wonder if they’ll attack her religious beliefs…..By golly the Rev wright might come back on stage for an encore…….As an Independent my concern is the issues, but the disregard for the feelings of a 17 yr old girl is the very thing that will cause me to vote McCain/Palin in Nov…..I’m tired of the dirty politics, that comes from the left, but what can you expect from a Man and the press that serves him who would be found in cahoots with a terrrorist
Considering all of the comments given to Obama for his ability to deliver a speech,I think it would be wise for Obama to start looking back over his shoulder, because here comes a Mom of 6,who he can’t hold a candle to……Go Sarah….So Lynn lets leave the hypocracy thing alone

Alyson,
Please tell me why the buttons at the Republican Convention had the slogan “Hottest Governor, from the Coolest State”? I think this is totally inappropriate and sexist on the Republicans part. Also, isn’t Dr. Laura a Replublican. Wasn’t she the one that questioned whether Palin could raise her children and hold office? If this is the case why are the Democrats being blamed.

I was watching Bret Hume last night. Why was it stated that Sarah Palin DID NOT write her speech, I do not recall anyone saying B. Obama did not write one of his speeches. There is definite media bias against anyone who is deemed to be conservative or a republican.

For almost 20 years now I have been registered as a Democrat and voted along my party lines in elections. That being said, It is time for a positive change with McCain / Palin in the years to come. I voted for Hillary Clinton because she has always been for human rights for everone and is extremely strong, experienced, and knowledgeable. I believe that she was discarded and passed over by Obama, the DNC, and her own Democratic party and was constantly ridiculed by the media and press through sexist one sided remarks of her and her accomplishments.

Even after all that Obama hammered Hillary with, that the DNC stole from her, that the media and press accused her of and denied her of, and all the sexist remarks made…Hillary Clinton still stood before America on that DNC stage and gave a speach that brought crowds to their feet in admiration of all her accomplishments. WHY? Because she is the stronger person, the more experienced person, and held herself to higher standards than the men she ran with for President!

I believe Sara Palin like Hillary Clinton is being attacked with great sexism and prejudice by the Media and members of the Democratic Party. I sat in astonishment and listened as men in the news media said she doesn’t deserve to be Vice President because she needs to be home takeing care of her children! Never in all my life of watching and following politics have I seen anything so blatently sexist in my life. Never have I seen the media question a mans ability to do anything simply because he had children. No one told Biden that he didn’t deserve to be in politcs or hold office because he had children to raise! This is wrong plain and simple.

Not a month ago I watched Obama on TV say that his wife was off limits to attacks by the media or anyone else…I believe that Gov. Palins’ family deserves at the very least the same courtousy by the media and Obama backers. Unity will never come to America in any sense if people are treated differantly. Being as Obama is half African American he should know something about wanting to be treated fairly and without biase!

I would have voted for Hillary had she been on the Democratic ticket in some form because I believe women deserve the ability to make some positive changes in our Nations Government. I also hope that a female in higher office will be able to address issues on equal pay for women and finally once and for all make things truelly equal even in our pay!

While I will always be a huge fan of Hillary Clinton and would likely vote for her in the future, I will be voteing for McCain / Palin in November! I believe Palin to be strong,Intelligent, and she brings a freshness with her to the race that only Hillary Clinton could have on the Democratic ticket…
I watched the RNC tonight and the words spoke in discription of Senator McCain brought tears to my eyes that lasted throughout. I believe Senator McCain to be the epitomy of Strength, Patriotism,Judgement, Ethics, and the love of American and the Freedom it stands for! I look at that man and how he suffered in duty and honor of this country and I feel a sense of Pride in the United States of America and the soldiers that protect it that is overwhelming and powerful.

I believe McCain to be the most experienced and qualified person to be our President and in this day and age America needs to feel safe and comfortable with its place in the World forum and McCain will deliver that for us all…………McCain / Palin……because Experience,Good Judgement, and National Security matter!

Sara Palins speach was great! She was very articulate and energetic and brought the crowd to their feet consistantly throughout! I was very impressed by this Woman and her family. I believe she brings alot to the ticket. She is truelly one of us….with family problems and family values. I love that about her! As I listen to her I feel like I could sit with her at the kitchen table and talk about our kids’ issues or go to her for advise. I think alot of women across America will feel like that aswell.

I do feel that she is being treated very unfairly by some members of the media (other news channels) and I think its a disgrace! The media did similar things to Hillary Clinton while praising Obama “The Medias Golden Boy” and honestly Hillary was treated badly by her own party because she is a woman! If the medias sexist remarks toward Palin are meant to encourage her to quit I think they are in for a rude awakening! Sara Palin like Hillary Clinton doesn’t have quit in her! That is what I love so much about her! Women see these sexist remarks for what they really are…disgusting and immoral!

Women are tired of being treated as second class citizens and tired of being passed over, knocked down, called names, discriminated against, and counted out.

I would not vote for Obama if he tried to pay me to and frankly after all the negative remarks by his campaigne against Hillary Clinton and Sara Palin…I wouldn’t piss on the guy if he was on fire! I voted for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primaries but I will be voting for McCain / Palin in the Presidential election!

Good Morning,
My issue with certain media outlets is the way the news is formatted to add bias views that might not come close to truly reflecting the person or event reported. I believe that regardless of one’s own opinion you should respect Governor Palin and her Daughter for having the perseverence to have her baby at such a young age.
I see it this way. The Iraq war is tough so should we quit? NO! Gov. Palin’s daughter is pregnant so should she have an abortion? NO! I cannot stand to see people that quit when the going gets tough. THAT IS NOT THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE!!! We are past due for leadership in America that will stand up and fight when the battles get tough and seem impossible.
First, every single one of us needs to evaluate our own life and get it in order before we cast a stone at someone that we should respect at least as a fellow human being.

Thank You,
Fox Fan, Veteran, and Public Servant

Comment by PAT DAVIS

I thought Sarah Palin’s speech last night was awesome. I have never been so impressed with any political speech. John & Sarah can and will get the job done.
It isn’t a question of “which party is best in the White House” but which “team” is best in the White House”
As I understand it, there are several questions floating concerning Obama and his affiliations with certain terrorist and his possible muslin background. We are living in a time, that these questions need to be looked into seriously. Youth, charisma, color nor gender can replace or compete with the hands on experience that John McCain & Sarah Palin have experienced in their journey to this point. His years as a POW being one, of many; hers, was choosing to bring a special needs baby into her life, when she already had four children and a busy carreer. We all know the “popular” and “easy” choice she could have made.
I feel that every Senior Citizen, Veteran, and woman, every family that has a special needs child, any family that has had a daughter get pregnant out of wedlock should feel outraged by the media coverage. John McCain’s age is an issue, but not a negative one. Ask many, in their 70’s, if they are “over the hill” so to speak. “We” are of the age, that we know what hard work is, we know what it means to serve others, to sacrifice for others. Yes, it is time for a woman in the White House, and that woman is Sarah Palin as Vice President of these United States of America. Go, John & Sarah.

In regards to her parenting skills, of all my high school friends in our upper middle class neighborhood, I always felt my parents were the best. They were cheap, strict, and made me and my three siblings pay for collage following our christian high school education. That said I always knew right from wrong, and if I made the wrong the decision I paid for it. There were several times in high school that I was afraid I might be a teenage parent. My parents did everything they could to help me make the right decisions, dispite this, a few wrong decisions slipped through the cracks.

Regarding the election, I wasn’t voting until McCain chose Palin.

The question of whether or not she can be a good parent as VP is absolutly moranic and says mothers are solly responable for raising children and completely ignors her husband and his role as father. If this critisiam came from a R, that R needs to be held up and admonished for the ass he or she is.

Forgive my poor spelling, after twelve years of marrage I gave up a good paying job as a corporate slave to become a stay at home father, and have gotten dummer and more apathetic ever since.

I feel as though if this had of been Obama’s daughter the media would have had access to all of her records and has the child’s father on the news and everything. I bothers me that this is so 1-sided. I can’t wait until November to get this over with. I sure am not going to vote Republican because if something happens to Old man Father time then we will be stuck with someone that has about as much experience in the office as my shoes.

All of the personal attacks from the Dems are proof positive they are scared to death of losing in Nov. They are doing anything and everything they possibly can to tear her down. The attacks from the women on the left are the most hypocritical. But we can rise above their nastiness and win in Nov, that will shut them up. The best revenge is the score board, so go McCain/Palin!

First of all, I want to address Rod in Korea’s comments above. He says that the bloggers here “should just stop talking.”

Hey Rod, aren’t you the pot calling the kettle black? You keep comments yourself!

Secondly, I want to address Mike’s comments above about Fox and Friends. First of all, this is America — you are FREE to change the channel. Second, during the RNC McCain’s ads played because they bought air time. It’s a shame the Obama campaign was too stupid to take advantage of the RNC’s coverage to do the same. If you don’t think that the Fox News Channel is Fair & Balanced, please watch CNN — they deserve you!

On another note, in my humble opinion, after Gov. Sarah Palin was announced on Friday and I heard her speak in Dayton, Ohio, the first words out of my mouth to my family was we (the Republican party) just won the White House! Hail McCain/Palin!

It is nobody’s business!! The liberal/democrats need to be quiet. They have plenty to discuss about their own candidate. If this were Obama, it would be brushed under the carpet and not discussed. This is what is so frustrating. This bit of news doesn’t influence her ability to lead our country. Why don’t they address some of the topics she spoke on last night. We know why…. they don’t know what to say. It seems the only matters they can discuss are … personal things… I believe they don’t have the ability to get technical on the important issues. Or is it that they can’t make up their minds about anything!

Hi Ali
when it comes to the issue of teen pregnancy, or preganacy out of wedlock, I think once conceived a bastard is a bastard for lack of a better term. the republicans have gloried conversetism as part of their their platform, had it been, just for argrument sake obama’s daughter, his race for the white house would have been up in smoke. but it’s the elite daughter of the repulican choice for vp and teen preganancy becomes an acceptable debate. now they want to bully the young into marrying her she should keep her hymen thight and seek an education. that young man was so unfortable last night he just dont want to be there. Tthe republicans always twist situations to fit thier taste. have you noticed that since bush becomes a lame duck the terror treats are no longer color coded. who are the trying to fool this palin woman couldn’t controll a seventeen year old to keep her draws on, nor introduced birth control pills to her ( they are distributed free in pph). and yet still she wants to discredit Barack Obama’s records. As for Mc cain he is so out of touch since when Alaska becomes the largest state in the usa, he needs a good lesson in georgraphy. and they need to do the math sarah pelin combined votes could not top joe biden’s not even if she counts them in english pound currency. republican had congress and the white house for six to seven years they did nothing. Democrates took it only one year now, they the republicans strike down every effort by the Dems. and now they want to blame them for the mess this country is in. Tell the Republican stop breif catching from the Dem “change is Obama’s platform since he announced his run, now it is a slogan for mc cain/palin, give us a break. no more of the same.

Sarah Palin is awesome. Yes she is a working mom, I was a working mom when my kids were younger, I still work. Feminists are all about women being able to do whatever they want to do in the workplace. So what is the difference now. Is it because Sarah Palin, knows that a baby begins at the moment of conception? Is it because she is happy being Mrs., Is it because she goes out and does what needs to be done, not waiting for a hand out from the Government? She is not going to be a victim. As far as her daughter’s situation. How come the media and the fems are trashing her and the family for this. Our children, know matter how we try as parents, are given choice, so you do what Sarah and her husband have done. They accept the situation and love the daughter and the young man and the baby that is coming. There is most clearly a double standard, it is ok to be a fem if you support abortion, you can do whatever it takes. But if you do not support killing babies then you can’t possibly be a fem. I feel much better now for getting this off my chest. So there is a liberal media and it is on the attack to get Sarah no matter.

Comment by Linda Seay

Hi Allyson, I strongly disagree with Carla. I really miss you on the fox and friends. It’s just not the same without you there.
Sarah’s children should be off limits. I think the democrates are running scared. THEY SHOULD BE. My sister-in-law was a wonderful stay at home mom. She had her girls involved in everything and her oldest got pregnant when she was a senior. You can’t go with them everywhere. He daughter went on to college and is now a registered LPN. Grandma watched the baby for her. She did marry the father and they later had a boy.

I would like to address two comments posted above, one from Rod from Korea and one from Mike above.

Rod first:

You say if the media is so horrible why don’t we “just stop talking” basically because all we are doing is keeping the debate going. Well, are you the pot calling the kettle black? Why don’t you stop posting about it!

Now Mike’s comment about F&F being fair and balanced.

During the DNC every commercial break had an attack ad from McCain against Obama but during the RNC there are none against McCain from Obama. Advertising 101 — The McCain campaign wisely bought air time during the DNC and fortunately (or unfortunately for you) the Obama campaign missed the boat, as usual.

Now my humble comment on Gov. Sarah Palin. I was voting for McCain either way but when he announced her Friday morning as his running mate and I heard her speak in Dayton Ohio, I told my mother that we had just won the White House!

Hail McCain/Palin ‘08

Comment by Kristofor

I am not surprised that none of my comments have not been posted considering that every comment on this sight is towards Palin!! LOL!! I thought fox news was Fair and Balanced! Waht a Joke! every comment that is posted seems to be a republicant!!! Where is the Debates?!!! I have watched Fox news for 10 years now, all of my friends told me i was crazy for watching but i stuck with it, until now!! I think fox news is a huge network of people like Limbaugh!!!

Comment by Lucy

Why is anyone surprised the dems would attack Palin’s daughter? When they have nothing of substance they go after the children. Nothing new. They are shameless.

Comment by carol

Does everyone feel the subtle shaking of the planet? That’t the effect of the collective liberal squirming of the last few days. It’s great to be on the non-squirming side for a change.

Foot in mouth syndrome is rampant. Dem commentators stand there and lie to our faces as they pick Sarah Palin apart and tell us she said something that we who listened know for a fact that she didn’t. Or that she failed to say something we clearly heard her say. Who do they they think they’re fooling. Only themselves!

I checked the list of 2008 Hurricane names expecting to see Hurricane Sarah which would hit in November. It’s Sally, isn’t Sally sometimes a nickname for Sarah.

Go Sarah, go Sarah, go Sarah…

The country has it’s own sexual problems and should not criticise. Do you think the people criticizing Governor Palin’s daughter’s situation stand for the right to display vulgar sexual content and call it art. O-But that’s different. It probably has no infleuence on the behaver of teenagers.

Comment by Jill A. D

Bottom line here…the democrats can’t find anything to nail Palin with…so they’ll try to break her by attacking her children…and we all know what a mother bear does when her cubs are attacked…I’m staying tuned to watch the fight…and do we need to guess who will win…??? Go Sarah!

For Kristofor’s comments above:

Why have you watched Fox for 10 years if you don’t like? In this great Country we live in you are FREE to change the channel. It sounds like you are more of a CNN’er anyway, their really fair and balanced, lol. By the way, what is a “republicant?” I think the “t” goes on the end of your party!

Kristofor’s I make it a point to watch all the Big News Channel, Fox News is so far the most fair and balance
CNN MSNBC CNBC In my view are so one sided, all they do is bash McCain, and Republicans, they really
do not have a nice word. Close your eyes, and just listen, listen. Keep a open mind. and you will heard
what I heard, but I still listen to hear there opinions, but I MAKE up my own MIND.

Hi Alisyn,
I didn’t know what to make of McCains VP pick at first. I did see her speech and have watched all the bio’s on her and so far I love what I see. As for her 17 year old daughter becoming pregnant…..all I can say is this….as the mother of 2 young boys I have learned that being a parent is the most humbling of experiences. They don’t always do what we tried to “program” them to do! My heart goes out to her.

I am a Hispanic republican wife and mother my husband and I have seven children between us.
I like what I have heard so far from Sarah Palin and I think John McCain is a genius for picking her. In addition, I can honestly say that anyone who takes a shot at Sarah Palin because of her daughter should try raising a child.

Comment by Michelle Blevins

Why are the Democrats making such an issue about Bristol’s pregnancy? They don’t seem to have much to say about Jamie Spears teen age pregnancy or any of the other young girls in Hollywood in this same situation nor do they question the parenting skills of the mothers of these girls.

Comment by Gary

Alisyn,

As the husband of a great wife and father of a great daughter – I cannot believe the dialogue around Sarah Palin and her ability to balance family and career, especially by women.

Give me a break. Sarah and her husband will work out the details. Two of her children will be leaving the home soon.

As usual, many women who have been begging for equality in this country are the first ones to doubt a women in position to make a significant breakthrough. This demonstrates part of the problem with some of these women – they are not capable of being equal because their jealousy, and petty behavior.

GO SARAH

Comment by Blake

How does Diane Lang know that Sarah Palin already doesn’t know how to say no? I doubt believe she needs to learn to say no! How does Ms. Lang know Todd and Sarah Palin don’t plan on Todd taking care of the children when she becomes VP.

Yes, parents play a role in the decisions their children make but, come on, we all know that you can talk to your 17 year old daughter (or son) about sex until you are blue in the face, but they’re still going to do what they want! At least Sarah and Todd seem to be supporting their daughter and her decision to not abort the baby. This won’t hurt the McCain/Palin campaign at all. Sorry, liberal elite media! Nice try.

Comment by Audrey Flowers

When is the media going to focus on the errors of Obama’s family members? As a parent, I refused to pound on teenagers who became pregnant. I believe this was my best preventive of not having to eat my own words with my own children.

Who cares if Sarah is on Oprah? My home is not a garbage can for Oprah to enter.

Comment by Nancy Steinke

It infuriates me that some people feel that women with children cannot hold high public office and still be good mothers and wives. Do you think that being governor of a state is not challenging and difficult? Governor Palin has shown that she has handled this position well. After all, didn’t Joe Biden have small children when his first wife and infant daughter were killed, and didn’t he choose to be sworn as a congressman and commute to Washington DC while being a widower for about 5 years? I don’t read anywhere that he should have stayed at home with his remaining children, or that he was not able to be the good father that he needed to be because he chose a demanding career. Governor Palin has strong values and will be able to handle all that comes with the territory and that is what scares others to try to discredit her. As for her pregnant daughter, I am sure there are those in high public office somehwere whose teenage daughters have faced pregnancy but chose abortion over birth and we never hear about that. Stick to the issues that are important to our nation and stop the smear campaign against Sara Palin.

Comment by Mary Davis

I don’t understand why Palin is NOT putting pressure on her daughter to get married. This should have happened as soon as it was discussed. What kind of family values do we have?

Comment by Stacey

Funny how Palin supported the Bridge to Nowhere, but of course she is taking the credit for being against it. Typical politician. She’s a hockey mom, who cares? And her keeping her child with down syndrome instead of having an abortion. And? Talk about publicizing off of the handicap! And wasn’t that a personal decision? Her daughter’s teenage pregnancy has nothing to do with her qualifications, however, it should make everyone think that she has 5 children, one that is handicap and needs special attention from his mother. She will also be raising her grandchild because her daughter is still a child herself.

Also, I do think her teenage daughter’s pregnancy is relevant to the type of parenting and her support for abstinence only (which we know doesn’t work) and against sexual education (which has a higher success rate). If she was smart she would support sexual education for teenagers in the future since her daughter is going to be a teenage, unwed mother. She is a extreme far right winger, and is against abortion in all aspects, even in cases of incest or rape. This is shocking and sad to me. She obviously is uneducated in all aspects of life. With her extreme conservative views, she needs to go back home and be a housewife and take care of her babies. They need her more than the American people!

Comment by Julia

What type of person publicizes off of her teenage daughter’s pregnancy and their child with Down syndrome? So sad……

Comment by Shirley

I think she is great; just what this country needs. So her daughter got carried away. I was a teenager once in my lifetime and know it’s easy to do. I’m certainly supporting her.

What happened to fair and balanced?
When Hilary complained FOX NEWS said she was whining.
Now that the shoe is on a republican foot its hands off.
Over the summer you appeared fair and balanced, butt your republican backing is showing.
Your reporting on the polls are exaggerated and all your ads are anti Obama and pro McCain, very transparent.
Instead of fair and balanced just call it what it is, Republican propaganda machine.

The hypocrisy of the media never ceases to amaze me. Obama was born August 4, 1961 yet his parents were married February 2, 1961. Was Obama
a premie? I doubt it. The media is trying to trash Palin’s family until they can find dirt on Palin herself. How unprofessional! Yet it’s not surprising.

Comment by Beverly Crawford

I have a great title for a new book on Sarah Palin’s associates/family/friends…how about
“Sarah Palin ‘n All” (From “Sarah Plain and Tall”). LOL

Comment by D. Nelson

The fact that Sarah Palin’s daughter is pregnant means squat. By the time a young woman reaches the age of 17, she is considered to have reached the “age of consent” (at least in Washington State). Statutory rape laws, etc. cease to apply. This is just a tactic being used to draw attention away from the fact that Mrs. Palin is respected for her policies in her own great state of Alaska. Many of us alive today were born of teenage mothers, and this attack on Mrs. Palin’s daughter makes the dems look as if they are grasping at straws, to help keep a flailing race alive. I really do not want to hear about this young womans choices, they have NOTHING to do with policy, and it continues to make the dems look desperate.

Comment by lbenjamin

I am getting sooo tired of you people trying to put the blame on the left wing. Who cares what Bristol is doing, except for the media. The media does not speak for everyone. If that is the case than Sean Hannity hatred would speak for all white american and I do not believe that is how every one in the white community feels. Come on people, you claim that media is against the right wing, if you know that is the case how can you put all left wing in that category. Someone made the statement that Barack’s comment to leave peoples family out was a weak comment. Just listen to yourselves. How can you speak out of your mouths about one situation and want it to be calm down and try to blow another one out of the waters. You guys need to take a good look in the mirror at yourselves and see that you are doing exactly what you are trying to blame on the left wing. Have it ever occurred to you that some of the Palin comments are coming from the Republicans that do not like her because of her putting them in their place persay. And yet, you throw all bad comments about her on the left wing. Again, you need to look further into your own party….
I actually take my hat off to Sarah Palin and I am from the left wing. Ladies, let’s not forget that we are known to be the nurturing parent of the house as well as holding down a full time job. So yes, we do know how to mult-task. We have to stop comparing us to the MEN in office, it is not the same, by NO means. I think if the McCain/Palin makes it to the White House, she will show how strong of individuals we are. I do not believe that we are taking anything away from her of being a good mother and knowing how to run an office. I believe that the women of the left wing party see that what she stands for is not the same for us and that is the reason and the only reason that we will not vote for her. So people, please lay off the left wing for a while. That’s not what we stand for, bashing people. Maybe the media but not us…..So I believe, when Obama did not want to comment on Bristol pregnancy, that was his true feelings.

Thank you for going back to the full screen on the commercials. We really need that information. I thought you were going to put a commercial bar on the left so you didn’t have to go to commercials. Another across the top to narrow the real picture down to just eyes. Then we could play the game “Who’s talking” – win one of Brian’s books.

I live on the Gulf Coast. Many here don’t evacuate for 2 reasons: 1. the news media hype. 2. It’s very hard to get back in to your property.

Dear Alisyn,

I am so upset with Charlie Gibson. I feel like he owes Gov Palin a public apology. What gives him the right to speak to her so disrespectfully? I noticed he was figgetting in his seat when she answered his questions so well. He was obviously trying to twist her up, but he couldnt do it. He never smiled at her once. It was very uncomfortable to watch, much like this political race.

I don’t remember this process being so painful when i was a youngster. I plan to vote for McCain and Palin, as i feel they are both the Patriots. They both have the hearts of servants. I admire Senator McCain so much, and wish i could thank him personally for his sacrifice to keep me free. Gov Palin also shows that same grit in her political life. I will never watch ABC or CBS thanks to the bias in the reporting of Charlie Gibson and the nasty comments of the democrats. I am so proud to be a Republican. I hope our party never stoops as low as they are. This country really needs to reform this process. No wonder so many are apathetic and just don’t vote. They are sick of all the pickering. I like the town meeting idea.

I read another blog Alisyn that mentioned a book that Barack wrote? Was that quote accurate. Did he say he hated white people and call us “White Greed”. I don’t feel that should be ignored in the press. If he said that let’s get that story out there.
We should never elect a bigot and I do not want a president of my country that hates me.

Thanks for your awesome reporting. Shep is so hot

Biden the Beta Male: He has never had his own idea on anything. He lives on other peoples experiences, and talent. His comments about Hillary was expected by me. He is scared to death of her. She must know something about him, and he knows that after the election Hillary will punish with a vengence all those who apposed her in the Primaries.
Biden should run with Colin Powell, another self serving Beta Male, although he is now running with the lead Beta Male.

LUV YA.
