My name is Scott Kraner. I live in Geneva, Al… Geneva, Al. is about 70 due north of Panama City, Fl… I grew up in Ohio, joined the Army(Desert Storm) and when I got out I moved to Nashville, Tn… I am here now because of some great job transfers(serious). I was trying to think of the six degrees, so here goes, I know someone that knows Rick & Bubba, you know Rick and Bubba, so that is two degrees. But that was too easy!!!

The really funny thing is, I win a lot of bets on stuff like this on me and the President. I met Woody Hayes (long-time coach and professor at Ohio State) when I was in college, and he knew George H. W. Bush, so we only had 3 degrees of separation.

I believe that more people are connected than you might believe, but every person in the world being only 6 degrees off is a big stretch. I am sure that the information comes from a reliable source like Microsoft, but I still can’t buy it. Probably what will happen is Microsoft will come out with software that one can buy to find your 6 degrees of seperation from others. So this might just be a little marketing. So lets take for example before this blog I would have been way more than 6 degrees from you Alisyn. I love your enthusiasm though and thanks for letting me wake up to Fox and Friends.

This is actually a bit scary when you think about it.

There seems to be some disagreement about the injuries suffered by the 12 yr old girl that fell down the chimney. The AP story says she was basically unscathed. The NY Times is reporting a family friend says she is recovering from a dislocated hip and possible fractures. Other sources report that she has broken legs and a dislocated hip.
Regardless of the conflicting reports it is amazing that she survived and without life threatening injuries.
One could say she landed flat on her ash.

Clayton was correct about the ability of starfish to rejenerate a lost arm. A complete new starfish can be jenerated from a single arm that has a portion of the central disk attached. It is possible that Clayton actually “created” a new starfish depending on where the starfish’s arm broke off.

My wife and I were at a membership campground, in the Orlando area, in the swimming pool. As everyone does, we were all asking questions of each other. What kind of do unit you have, how long have you been members, where are you from, etc. The one lady was from south Florida and said, ‘My best friend is Britney Spears aunt”. Then added “That may not be something to be proud of, but her aunt is a very sweet lady”.

Alisyn, if you don’t count emails or text messages as a degree of seperation than you have completely discounted the entire study since it was based upon a study of text messages.

I think the original game of ’six degrees of Kevin Bacon’ was simply that any hollywood actor can be linked to Bacon thru the movies they have done. Such as trying to link Bacon and Bogart by using costars and movies.

I have met Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Dole at different campaign stops. I also met Charlton Heston several years ago when he campaigned for a the local US Rep.
And I know the guy that owned a restaurant where Pres George W Bush ate while passing thru town. So I guess that opens me to lots of political and hollywood people.

Regarding the spot on protecting our sea turtles. Just spent a week in New Smyrna (no shark bite, either), and had the opportunity during my morning walk to see a mother sea turtle make her way back to the ocean after laying her eggs.
Along with a small group of people we watched as she struggled after a long night to get back to the water. I think we all wanted to help her, but knew it was not right.
What a sight, she would take two steps, and then stop, rest and move on. Finally making the water.
Every night during this period, 4 or 5 turtles make their way to shore and lay their eggs, while volunteers mark them.

Actually, now that I am more awake than comatose, I have thought about something about this “6 Degrees” thing.

My paternal grandfather was a “G” man back when he was a younger man.

His claim to fame (two, actually) was that, one, he grew up with “Col. Harlan Sanders.” Yep, Kentucky fried Chicken Col. Harlan Sanders.

And, two, as a G-Man, it was his honor (honor?) to escort Al Capone to jail (on a train somewhere) after Capone was convicted of tax fraud.

Or at least these were some of (among many) stories he told me. Yeah, he was pretty cool old man.

So, as far as I can figure, I am Two Degrees from each of these men in our history!
