Alisyn in the Greenroom

Remembering Tony Snow

Goodmorning everyone! It’s Audra (Alisyn’s intern) blogging for Alisyn this morning since she is on vacation. This morning in the greenroom everyone is sharing some of their favorite Tony Snow memories and discussing what a great man Tony was…I thought it would only be appropriate for all of us to talk about the same on the blog today.

Com’on guys…give it a rest…yes we are all sorry about Tony leaving us. But you can only say so much about a guy.
Why do you news media types have to drag it out to the point that we are hoping that another one of you will drop dead so we can at least talk about someone else.

You guys are only the media…you are not someone we should worship…and guess what…Tony Snow would have been the first to tell you these exact words.

Good morning Ms. Audra,

Say Dave, maybe you didn’t notice but the viewers had no real recourse to express anything since the blog doesn’t actually operate on the weekend. Maybe some people would like the opportunity to express thier feelings and thoughts. You can always avoid reading if you don’t like it.

Give Ms. Audra a break will ya?

Good morning Audra,

Ah Dave…that is too sad that your attitude is so very very delusional. The world is NOT a better place with Tony’s passing, and it is apparent you have a deficit in your psyche, if you do not know this one thing. So, don’t watch if it bothers you. I, on the other hand, do wish to participate in the celebration of his life and share in the mourning of. Every now and then someone remarkable comes along. That WOULD be, Dave, Tony Snow. I am genuinely sorry for you. I must think your life is very shallow and you are neither remarkable or memorable in any way….and will not missed when gone.

Comment by Gini

Good morning Chas. You were very gentle with Dave, me thinks. I think Dave should give us all a break, and keep his puny views, regarding Tony Snow, to himself. lol I never feel that way, but it is a bit like coming to a wake and bashing the “family and friends” of the deceased. Why would one come to the wake, if they do not wish to celebrate the life of? So, Dave, whatsup with you? Stay “home” from, if you have nothing to add about this remarkable man WE will allllllll miss so very much.

Comment by Cheryl

I will miss Tony Snow. I appreciate what he did for broadcast journalism and I thought he was the best White House Press Secretary ever. I loved his smile and the twinkle in his eye. He was always respectful of others. I hope we will all aspire to do the same!

Good morning to you Audra. I was also up at 4:30a, Chas…why? I don’t have a clue!! :):) There is the Huck…I do like him a lot. It is very nice that he has joined the FOX family…a real breath of fresh air, I think. He makes me smile, anyway, and that is always good. lol

Good Morning Audra,
I think Tony Snow was a great Journalist,
fair and balanced, a great Anchore, and one of the best Press Secretarys for the
President of the United States of America, George W Bush,
and the best on Fox News Sunday,
a great Conservative, a great Family Man, just a good Honest person,
he was one the first on Fox News,
and one of my Favorites of the Fox News Family,
Tony Snow was very appreciated by Millions of people, especially Catholics,
my deepest Sympathy to the whole Family, and he will be Missed.
Sal
Morning everyone.

Comment by Audra

Huckabee is a great guy…must be the Arkansas connection! It was neat to be able to have someone in the greenroom that has been to my hometown and understands my accent!

Comment by Audra

I agree with everything Sal said about Tony Snow. Very few people can accomplish everything he did in a lifetime…think of if he would have lived past 53.

Comment by Robert

Tony Snow, RIP. My sympathies go out to his friends and family.

Good Morning Audra,

It is a shame that some people on the blog feel the need to bully others whom do not share their exact point of view. Let freedom ring people, and stop the school yard tactics. We are all adults and hopefully are able to tolerate all points of view. I have seen this behavior over and over on this site. A few people think they own this place and will not allow others to share their opinion. Some never grow up I guess.

Comment by Gini

Good morning Sal,
What a very nice tribute to Tony Snow. We will all miss him so very much, and indeed, our very deepest sympathies do go to his family. He is the reason I first started watching Fox. I am a late comer, so to speak, and his show was the first I saw, when I was scanning and ran across Fox…quite by accident mind you, and was a fan from that day forward. Yes…I will miss him.

Comment by Salvatore

I know what you mean Audra, if he lived past 53,
he would of made a great Politician,
dont you think, he would of been for the people thats for sure.

I believe that he would have made an great politician, if that is the direction he would have taken. But I think his great love was for journalism and I don’t think he would have strayed too far from that field.

Morning Gini.

Comment by LAT

He had the best command of the English language of anyone I’ve heard. There was no doubt about anything he said.

Comment by Gini

I agree Chas…I think too, he would have stayed with the journalism and all things related to. He was the watch dog of the political I think….and did it with such grace and humor. He was smart and savvy, and did not take life so seriously, that he forgot to live his life, and that is what we mourn the lose of, as well as celebrate his success with. A truly remarkable man…..

Comment by Eileen

One of the things I like most about Tony Snow–is that he had the courage to speak of his Faith. He held family as the most important part of his life. That is very hard to do in his field and manage to stay on the top.

morning chas and Gini. :) Hope you both have a great day.

Comment by Gini

Good morning Eileen…thanks, and I am going to do just that. Lunch and a movie with the remarkable man I married, lo those many many years ago. lol

Good Morning Audra and Everyone

I enjoyed listening to Tony Snow on radio or TV, he was an amazing man. I really enjoyed watching him speak with the white house news reporters, he seemed to be having fun. Tony was a natural speaker. He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Comment by Merle NY

Good morning all. Salvatore said everything I was going to say about Tony Snow. He was a mild mannered easy going guy. It was sad the hear about his death at such a young age. I wish his family the best. DAVE….. Tony Snow died…. He was well liked and admired by many. If you have nothing nice to say just keep your thoughts to yourself. Nobody forces you read our responses. Hope you have a great Day AUDRA Good job:)

Hi Chas, what I meant to say was,
If Tony Snow would of choose that directon he would of made a great Politician.

thanx FNC for letting us in on the Tony Snow passing. he was the face of Fox News before Fox News had a place on TV. For some of us, he was even a Conservative Hero. He was the epitome of “Fair & Balanced”. He was also probably the nicest guy to ever grace a country with his “pithy” commentary.
thanx again FNC for letting us get to know Tony Snow.

Comment by Marshall

Tony Snow was a rare breed of gentlemen and the world has lost one of a kind. I so hoped he would beat out the cancer that was running through his body.

What is up with Huckabee? What do you mean he is joining Fox? Always enjoy seeing the Huckabee!

Comment by Liz K

Out here in the sticks, we only started receiving FOX a few years ago, so I missed most of Tony Snow’s earlier career. After he became press secretary, I was amazed at his ability to put a rude questioner in his or her place without being disrespectful and usually with a wonderful sense of humor. What a fantastic world this would be if we all displayed his faith, strength, and courage!

Comment by Marshall

Surprised to see GC do the whole 3 hours. Why didn’t they have someone fill-in for Alisyn?

Audra are you counting down the days until you leave Fox? What will you do between then and returning to school?

Comment by Marshall

Where is SD? Is he on vacation too?

Comment by Audra

Huckabee is now a Fox News Contributor. And I believe Steve will be back tomorrow. I am sad to leave Fox…it seems like I just got here!

Comment by Marshall

Great news about Huckabee! Will he be a regular on any particular show, or just available to all?

I bet you are a little sad about leaving. It looks like it would be a lot of fun and very interesting. But, you have a whole career in front of you when you finish up with school and that time goes by much faster than you realize.

Comment by Liz K

Sorry, but I’m guessing people in 98% of the country don’t care what is on the cover of the New Yorker — now Field and Stream — that might be a different story.

Comment by al m.

Silence is NOT golden! I didn’t like the way Steve, Gretchen and that b player outed Alisyn’s destination plans for her trip Friday. It was uncool, unprofessional and unfriendly.

3 hours of Gretchen? Have they lost their minds??

Comment by Gini

Liz K…I love your comments! And am smiling, as I am positive you are exactly correct. We don’t get the print press anymore in this household….look at it on the internet. AND we are getting ready to go totally cellular, dropping the hard line to the house…YIKES!! That is a biggy I think. Field and Stream is definitely the magazine one sees everywhere. I have missed out on the political cartooning that used to be such a part of the election cycle and was always so entertaining regardless of which side one might be on. There has always been the crude and the rude and the outrageous in that juandra (sp?), however, hopefully the politically correct have not taken it totally out of everyone’s reach. As a society we need to see the ridiculous, which is often the point of the cartoon, along with the very serious. lol

Comment by Liz K

Thanks, Gini. Glad I made you smile.

Comment by Gini

Good morning Marshall…yes, the Huck has been a fox contributor for a minute now. I don’t know how you missed the original announcement of, but he is marvelous, isn’t he? I am glad he is on. I miss the judge too….do love it when he is on. lol And Merle…ditto. re: Dave. But, I have had my say to him already. When I turned on the computer and came to the greenroom I too, was pleased that Audra had put this up for all of those who would wish to comment. DAVE was the first comment posted and I was NOT smiling after I read. lol

Comment by Gini

Liz K….you always make me smile and think, and I always look for your comments. You are very welcome. :)

I am fairly new to the blog world but have enjoyed reading most of The Greenroom’s daily blogs. I have to agree with Robert however, I have noticed a childish mentality towards new contributors. I do not understand the attacks that have taken place on people who just want to share their opinion on a public and open blog. It does make a person feel uncomfortable to take part.

Good luck on your scholastic endeavors Audra. I am sure this summer’s experience will prove to be valuable.

Good morning audra and all fellow bloggers

Tony Snows passing is very sad he fought so valiantly but now he is safe and in Gods hand and is no longer in pain and suffering so that is a good thing While he was press secretary he was always a gentleman and made the press conference interesting MY thoughts and prayers are with his family who has shared the life of this wonderful man

GINI———-that is brave to give up the landline. We also did that about a year ago. It was fine until our one and only tower had a problem. We had no phones at all for over a week at home. That would never happen in a more developed area that does not depend on only one tower. I had to call repair from a phone booth at the local grocery store. That was a long and frustrating time. Verizon is the only one our way with service so I could not even change providers.

It was a financial decision and if I had lots of money, would keep the landline.

Comment by Gini

Then I must think that Robert is the only one who is allowed an opinion, and anyone that might not agree is NOT ALLOWED to speak then? Hummm….now THAT is a conundrum for sure. Let freedom ring? Apparently NOT according to a few who “don’t feel welcome”, on a blog site? That is very very strange. I too am a “newish” blogger, and have never felt that way, but so be it. Probably not going to change my style however, so just have to put up with me from time to time I guess.
marshall g…very nicely put, and I would definitely agree with you. A time for reflection as we will miss them both.
I must say hello to Pat, risking some accusation of fraternizing with…oh well ~~sigh~~ Eileen…as we live in the capital of Ohio, this would not be a huge risk, as it was for you and might be for others living out. :)

Tony Snow made an impression on me years ago. His earliest days on TV you could see he was very comfortable with himself, with whatever subject, and with whomever he spoke. He seemed honest, genuine, and bright. It is comforting that those who knew him in “real life” say that was Tony Snow on camera or off. I will miss seeing him, and hearing his analysis of political news. My greatest sympathies to his wife and three children. God bless you.

Comment by chris

Adura; a very nice topic for a very popular man. Thank you for allowing the viewing public to send their condolences to Mr. Snow’s family. Of course none of us “knew” him, although we may feel as if we did, but he certainly was an entertaining personality, and served his country when asked to do so. MY prayers and thoughts are with his real friends and family at this time of sadness.

Robert and Maryland, I concur with your thoughts. Unfortunately, you see this type of behavior on all blog sites. But I just think it is children playing on the computer when the parents are at work. Adults wouldn’t act in this manner. Hang in there and keep blogging!

Comment by Kevin Tipton

I remember Tony standing in for Rush’s show back in the 90s and always saw how decent and kind he was. He always had a positive outlook on life and these United States. It’s awfully sad and sick of how the left wing bloggers made fun of him after his diagnosis. But still, he ignored it, stood above it, and stayed close to his family and friends, and of course, God. He always had a smile and a kind and uplifting word toward anyond whom he met. In the world of hateful politics as usual, he was that shining light that could never be covered nor ignored. Tony was a decent man with a big heart and my prayers are with his family and friends now that he is in the arms of God. I’ll miss you Tony.

A late comment on Tony Snow — I’m a little older than Tony, a father, professional man, not inexperienced in the world. Very infrequently you have the opportunity to meet or work with someone who truly stands out for a skill or talent. Even rarer to encounter someone who stands out for personal characteristics. Tony seemed to me to be a man who could do both. I regrettably never met him, but had the great pleasure of viewing him on TV or listening on the radio. These brief snippets were inspirational. His effect went beyond the content of his work. I’m sure he touched many more people and in a more meaningful way than he ever knew. Not many of us can say as much about our own lives.

Comment by Gini

You too Sal…it is beautiful in Ohio today. lol

Comment by Kathy Hayes

I wish with all my heart that there were more people in this world like Tony Snow.
He was a true gentleman and a pleasure to watch during each show he did as well as the white house briefings.
I was so hoping tht he would write a book before he lost his life to that dreaded cancer because in it I am sure he would have set the record streight on all the awful lies told by Scot Mc Clellin in his book.
Tony Snow was not the kind of person who would tell lies about people just because he was fired but then I doubt he was ever fired.
I had missed the fact that Snow had been hired by CNN as a contributor a few months ago and am only sory that he didn’t live long enough to make a real difference in thrir coverage of the presidential campaign.
I did however notice they had become more impartial in the last few months and am wondering if this is why.

For anyone who gets tired of hearing about such a wonderful person may I say that I have to wonder if there isn’t in some part because they know they have never done anything in their life that will be worth anyone remembering one day when their time comes.
It’s not to late to do something constructive instead of being a nasty person no one would want to remember.

Audra, welcome to the group.

Dear Audra…I will miss Tony Snow on Fox News and the radio…even more so than Tim Russert. Tony never capitulated in the face of rising popularity and media scrutiny. A man of stature and poise (characteristics apparently lacking in most of today’s media figures).

My heart and hopes go with his family.

I know Fox News will be looking for someone to fill the void created by his departure…I wish you all luck; however, Roger Ailes will be unable to find someone as capable as Tony.

I was very sad to hear about Tony’s passing, my heart goes out to his family.
I thought FoxNews’ tribute to Tony throughtout the day was a wonderful way to express what Tony meant to the FoxNews family. I am sure a lot of the staff on the FoxNews team was very close to Tony and undoubtedly, affected just as sadly.
You guys did a good job of paying respect to a good guy. God Bless Tony and his family in this time!

Hey Dave, (the very first post this am), do you belong to the Westboro Baptist church. I guess you think the death of Jesus Christ is way overblown.

Many expertss have written how to face adversity, few like Tony Snow showed us how to face & overcome adversity.

Keep Jill & their three kids in your prayers.

ali always wanted this blog to be respectful and not a place to bash people and although all opinons are respected we also are allowed to say if something makes us uncomfortable and daves comments obviously made us feel uncomfortable there are many other blogs where this kind of rhetoric might be appreciated but not here

tony snow was a great courageous man

Comment by Suzie G

Tony Snow was a great man. He took the time to answer a note of support that I had sent to him. He personalized that note including words and phases that I had used. He cared about people and appreciated people who cared.

Hi Audra,Bloggers, and Alisyn( if your looking), I’m a little late, but my first thoughts when I heard about Tony, were his family and then thoght about the great conversations and debates him and Tim Russert will have in Heaven. He will be sadly missed by many, except of course, Dave! Have you no heart Dave? Have a Great day!!!!

Comment by Carlos Martinez

Hi Pat,
I wouldn’t worry too much about people that have nothing good to say. Obviously, the fact that he clicked on “Remembering Tony Snow” eludes him, what is one to think when they see a title subject such as that and then complains about how people are paying respects to the named individual? NOt too bright a person! Althoug he wasn’t harsh, he was out of line, as the right choice here would’ve been to not say anything at all.

I think the tribute over the weekend for Tony was a great way to show just how much he was loved and regarded by his peers.
You see, that’s the human side of us; we laugh together, we cry together, and we grieve together and since Tony passed, at this time, we grieve together and pray for his wife and children to get through what must be, the toughest thing they’ve ever faced in their young lives.

If Aly is going back to weekends, will this also stop the AtSS segments? I feel that her blog and the AtSS are kinda linked at the hip, and if they get rid of the blog, then will the segment go away too?

Even if I can’t see the regular show, I still enjoy the AtSS and would really hate to see it be cancelled!

I dont think anything will happen with Alisyn’s blog, she might not update it as frequently because she wont be on

But knowing the regular posters here, we are like one big happy family, and i am sure we are going to find someway to keep this blog active with discussion comments on a daily basis.

We dont know if those rumors are true. I guess we just have wait and see.

I guess the rumors are true about Alisyn leaving. I wonder what Mike Malone thinks about this latest development, and what thoughts and ideas he has about this sad turn of events.

FNC is the number one cable news network for almost 10 years, and i sure hope this isnt a move by the higher ups because the ratings are dwindling.

I am very disappointed that Alisyn will be moving to the weekends.

I have also noticed all this weekend they have been running ads for F&F saying that its hosts are SD, GC. and BK, so i guess the rumors were correct :(

Brad,

I’ll tell ya man, I have no reason to watch F&F without her on it..Without Alisyn, the show’s not fun, witty, intelligent, sexy, etc… It’s none of those things at all.

Ha!..and I was actually looking forward to Alisyn’s vacation because it meant an extra hour sleep for myself. Little did I suspect they’d pull this on her and on her fans. I think I hate them for it.

This is unrelated to either Tony Snow or Alisyn moving to weekends, but once again today, the music and sound effects could not be heard in the After the Show Show. They were faintly picked up by the studio mics, but that was it. Why does this keep happening? And is anyone at “F&F” going to read what I’m saying here?
