Hit Me With Your Best Shot: Jim from Tennessee!

This is a picture of me and my wife Larson. We have smiles on our faces because it is a rare moment when we don't have our children with us.

Hey, it’s working! Fantastic! See, the nine days won’t feel long now that you can all check out each other’s photos!

Jim- TN,

I hope that lovely lady gets to join us for lunch. ;) Seriously, she is a beauty and you are a really good looking couple.

Might even be able to drag Eileen away from her quilts long enough to join us…lol

Lunch is on me, can’t have one of the brave protectors of my freedom paying for his lunch now can I? ;)

I resemble that remark Chas.

I would send a couple of pictures, but I would have to fuzz out the faces of the women involved in order to protect the innocent. lol

Comment by JT

Have we really not done an AtSS since 6/23? That’s the only one I see on the F&F homepage.

Comment by Brad

I would love to send in some awesome weather and scenery pics, but i dont want it to be plastered on the internet for everybody to see. Plus you have to put in a lot of personal info in order to submit one in.

Comment by Brad

JT-

Go on the main page of Alisyn’s blog, then scroll down to the 4th blog entry. That was the most recent AtSS. I know its a little short, but i guess its because Alisyn is so busy nowadays.

Comment by Brad

I hope Alisyn has a wonderful week long trip to Cape Cod. I wonder who is going to fill in all next week?

Could it be Patti Ann Browne? Or maybe Ainsley Earhardt or Suzanne Sena?

I wonder if Julie Banderas could possibly be available?

Comment by Brad

I really liked the PA annoucement from Audra during the beginning of F&F First, and the joke from Alisyn that she was going to dock her pay.

Comment by Marshall

I would like to see Suzanne Sena fill in at least one day. I’ve never seen her do anything but headlines, but I love her smile.

Comment by Marshall

Brad – My 80’s pictures never made it through all that Best Shot stuff, but it looks like they changed the form now and it is not as invasive. It still doesn’t let you know if the picture really made it through though.

Comment by Brad

I was wondering if some of Suzanne Sena’s news updates during the early mornings hours are pre recorded? Because after she finished reading the news, sometimes the show that she says FNC is going to return to isnt the same pic that is shown next to her face.

Comment by Doug - Lexington S.C.

Ok, the wife and I watch everyone morning – Suzanne WHO?!?!

Comment by Mike Malone

Doug,

Suzanne Sena, she does PM & overnight updates 3-4 nights a week.

Brad,
All those news updates are supposed to be live.

Jim,

Great photo! Thanks for sharing & thanks for your service to the country.
Larson is a beautiful lady. A big thanks to her also. Being the spouse of someone in the military is tough and is serving the country too, if in a different way.

Comment by Sherrie in Michigan

Jim, Larson, Thanks to both of you for your service, from a wife of a Marine veteran, and mother of a Marine….. Thanks so much for all you do!!!! Blessings to you and your family.

Comment by Paula LSMO

Ok guys, I’ve got to pull your chain a little. What would you do if the fill in for Alisyn each day was…….a guy?! ;-)

Comment by gini

What a handsome couple…and I smile. I am overwhelmed with memories of my mom and dad and how handsome they were as a couple, with dad allllllllllll dressed up in his uniform, and mom looking as gorgeous as this beautiful lady. Thank you for the photo, and we celebrate you both as patriots! I should find a picture of the two of them, mom and dad, and learn to scan and print and forward, and and and. But, all is in the attic of the nephew, and recovering of the “stuff” is overwhelming for me right now…so, I smile with the memory, and I thank you so much Alysin, for your regard for it all. You are truly unique and I wish you a safe and restful holiday. We will miss you, however, but will survive! :)

Jim-

You are a great American, and your service and achievements in the military will be remembered in our hearts and prayers forever. God Bless to you and your extended family.

I wonder if sometimes its the glitches in the programming of the news updates banner. I remember on several occasions that Suzanne said we will be returning to “War Stories with Oliver North”, and the program is actually Forbes on Fox. Its usually during the 4-5 am news updates.

Comment by Brad

Marshall-

Thanks for the suggestion and heads up. I didnt know that only certain pics you send it make it into the blog. Maybe i will try it sometime.

I know we had a discussion about Bret Favre supposedly returning to play next season. It looks more like those rumors are true. I heard that he wanted the Packers to grant him an unconditional release, so he can explore his other options of playing for another team.

I guess you all heard the news about another female soldier has gone missing. Her car was found in flames. Some reports are saying that this latest case was planned so she can collect the insurance money.

CHICAGO – Comedian Bernie Mac endured some heckling and a campaign rebuke during a surprise appearance Friday night at a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Toward the end of a 10-minute standup routine at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Chicago, the 50-year-old star of “The Bernie Mac Show” joked about menopause, sexual infidelity and promiscuity, and used occasional crude language.

“My little nephew came to me and he said, ‘Uncle, what’s the difference between a hypothetical question and a realistic question?’” Mac said. “I said, I don’t know, but I said, ‘Go upstairs and ask your mother if she’d make love to the mailman for $50,000.’”

As the joke continued, the punchline evoked an angry response from at least one person in the audience, who said it was offensive to women.

“It’s not funny. Let’s get Barack on,” a man shouted from the crowd, which paid $2,300 each to support the Illinois senator.

About 15 minutes later, Obama tried to smooth things over with a joke of his own.

“We can’t afford to be divided by race. We can’t afford to be divided by region or by class and we can’t afford to be divided by gender, which by the way, that means, Bernie, you’ve got to clean up your act next time,” Obama said. “This is a family affair. By the way, I’m just messing with you, man.”

Sad news about Tony Snow. I thought he was going to pull through when I saw him on CNN not long ago.

Comment by chas

Morning friends,

Sad news indeed this morning. My heart and prayers go out to the Snow family.

In a sense Mr. Snow was one of the people I use as an example of how to conduct myself here in the greenroom. Calm, polite and informed was his style and I have always tried to follow that example.

It is a loss to all media and we all will miss him and what he brought to media.

Comment by Gini

Good morning Chas and fellow fans….we are weeping over the news this mornings news of Tony Snow and his death. We all prayed every day for this elegant and smart man. He is home now, and safe, but we will miss him so very very very much…and we mourn his passing. We are reminded that it really is one day at a time, and each day is precious. We have lost a great man today.

Comment by Gini

Good morning Marshall…I also thought he had survived this event, perhaps. We have a tendency to think the medical community can “fix” about anything if they know soon enough. Especially colon cancer…my father is a survivor of this. I continue to be in shock, and so very very sad. I hope the media runs his life story so people will be reminded just what good character and honor is, as this world seems a bit confused about this very important measurement of who should have the reigns of power in these dangerous times….or any time, as a matter of fact. lol

Comment by Eileen

It is sad indeed.

What what I love about this man is that he always seemed to take the high road. I do not ever remember him saying anything bad about anyone. If you can’t say something nice—–just say nothing at all.

I am sure he would like to think that we will remember he lived his life to the fullest even when sick.

Comment by Marshall

Tony Snow was such a “real” media person and he just exuded compassion for all. I thought for sure he was going to be a cancer survivor success story. It deeply saddens me to hear that was not destined to be the case.

Comment by Marshall

Hi Chas, Eileen and Gini! Good to see you guys on this Saturday morning. It is usually pretty darn quiet around here on the weekends.

Comment by Gini

Good morning Eileen and all…and yes, we continue to be in disbelief that we have lost this remarkable man. lol

GINI…..

did you get a laptop for your BD? I sure hope so.

I am deep in my sewing room reorganizing all the fabric I use for the Quilts of Valor. I am cutting out a bunch for the next one.

Back to that project.

Comment by Dana Richardson

Oh please don’t go ballistic on this question, BUT- Jim are those Army blues? Anyway the photo looks splendid- and not having children to chase and correct and …well, control; for lack of a better term, leaves “ya” time to smile; great couple picture! -DrD

Comment by Gini

Hi Eileen…nope! Am using my son’s still, but having a good time with it for sure…and I do understand the reorganization of the fabric. Don’t go there anymore…but, must be done from time to time. Gave allllllll my fabric to the daughter in law for her costuming efforts. She had a ball with it all, as I had quite a bit left from the sewing part of my life. :)

Tony Snow was a Great American who lived a very full and satisfying life during his 53 years than most people will ever get the chance during their lifetimes. Even when faced with the challenge of battling his cancer, he always had a positive outlook on life, even during his last days. He was also a kind and genuine person. A lot of people that had cancer looked up to Tony, as a brave and great spirited person. Not to mention all the charities he had raised money for.

My hearts and sympathies go out to the entire Snow family. They are in my prayers to get them through this tough time.

Comment by Brad

Tim Russert’s tragic death was equally sad, although i didnt agree with his liberal views, he was kind person, just like Tony Snow was. Tim was the only journalist on a liberal biased network, who always tried to be fair and balanced and relentless in his interviewing skills. He would have made a great addition to FNC, if he had only decided to join their team.

Comment by Brad

Its also sad that his mother died of the same cancer, i guess it was hereditary in a way.

Wonder who will be taking over for Alisyn tomorrow…..

Alisyn, Eileen, Chas, Sal, Brad, Gini, Mike, Marshall, Mark,

Thanks for all the great comments and support. I have married someone who has endured a lot of me and the military taking presidence in our lives.

As luck would have it, it was Larson’s birthday this weekend so, to Alisyn, thank you for the nice suprise. It got me good birthday points:)

She is such a great mother and dedicated wife. It never ceases to amaze me how much she can tolerate.

Enjoy The Cape Alisyn, I love it out there. I was there a few years ago. I used to have an uncle and aunt we would visit out there when I was a kid. It was great fun to see the little round cucumbers they would try and grow in the sand.

I guess you all heard about Budeweiser being bought out by a foreign company in Belgium. I think it should have stayed owned by a company in the US. Maybe Coors Light could have offered to take over the operations. Its such a shame. A ton of people are going to lose their jobs because of this. Any thoughts?
