How was your 4th?
by Alisyn Camerota
So nice to have a long weekend! We visited my sister-in-law in the burbs. We ate great bbq chicken and soaked in the tranquility and quiet. It was lovely, though not what I would term “relaxing”. Teaching toddlers to swim is not a “stress reliever,” it’s a “stress creator.” Luckily the twins have taken to the water like tadpoles. They leap in fearlessly (again, not good for their mother’s bloodpressure). How was your weekend? Feel free to share some photos. Just click on the box in the upper right corner that says “Hit us with Your Best Shot.” I’ll do the same shortly.

good morning alisyn
glad you had a somewhat relaxing weekend
you did a stellar job on the show saturday afternoon but that certainly is no surprise
Thanks Pat. I really enjoyed hosting FOX News Watch.
good morning Alisyn and Audra,
good to have you back…..glad you had a great weekend…
We thank you.
Ya know, I learn very little from these debates between Democratic strategist and Republican strategist. The facts are always skewed to extremes on both sides of the argument and most of us just continue to scratch our collective heads afterward. I would like to see more experts on given subjects just simply lay out the facts instead of all the political garbage.
For instance, the Democrats always say it would take 10-20 years before we saw any additional oil in the marketplace, if drilling began now. I have serious doubts about that, but even if it was fact, what is the alternative? I never hear the Democrats put forth other solutions other than a vague mention of windmills and geothermal. Just what can they offer up as a viable energy source that would take less than 10 years to manifest?
I might add that riding a bike on a 60 mile round trip on an interstate highway is not an option for many of us.
g’moning Pat and Marshall…
good morning marshall
even if it took that long if we had started drilling 20 years ago instead of just talking about it we would have oil by now
good morning jimmy
My 4th was great my daughter’s 7th b-day party was Saturday and the Rays rule the BB world. Also tell Clayton that Patton’s revolver’s had ivory handle’s.

Good morning Ms. Alisyn,
You were great Saturday. But I would rather see you remain around here.
Sounds like you had some real nice family time over the 4th. Always a good thing for the kids.
I had an idea after the 80’s week. What would you and the other bloggers think of a “Blogger of the…(fill in the blank)”, like maybe onbce a week.
One of the bloggers could have a short bio and a pic, so everyone could, if they wanted, could tie a face to the name.
Just a thought.
Have a great day. Hi Ms. Audra, hope you enjoyed your 4th also.
chas
Audra says she had a very nice 4th at home in Arkansas.
Alisyn - Glad you had a nice break and you did do a stellar job on News Watch Saturday evening.
What becomes of pictures sent through that “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” thing? Do they all just go to some central location and left to the interns to sort and distribute?
Um…yes. How could you tell? But don’t fret. They promise to get them loaded today (the photos, not the interns).
good morning chas
Mornin’ Pat, Jimmy and Chas! Another week begins…….
Aside from not being able to set off bottle rockets (I’m writing angry letters to the WV state legislature), the 4th was a blast as always.
g’morning Chas…
Good morning all.
Hey Alisyn,
I’m strarting a remodel job on my home. It was 93 degrees and very humid. Wanna talk about stress? Errrrrrrrr!
Otherwise it was a great weekend. Sounds like you had fun too!
Pat
Wonderful… and by the way Alisyn I saw News Watch you did a great job, you looked beautiful. Just proves what I have told dozens of others over the years. There is not a show at Fox News you can not do equally as well as any show hosts on the network. Then again I may be biased when it comes to you.
Thanks for watching pogger! I’m sorry to drag you away from the sumptuous bbq feast your family was no doubt in the throws of this weekend.
My wife being in the health care profession had to work all weekend!!!! People get sick on holiday weekends!!!
Feeling patriotic I watched the DVD of “Gettysburg” and “Gods and Generals” by myself. The Civil War tore this area apart (Va. and WV.) and I appreciate the men and women in the armed forces now keeping us safe in Korea, Iraq, etc. They are America’s finest!!!!
Good morning,
Hope everyone is well.
The 4th was good, we also have 3 kids. Girl (4), Boy (3) (they are 13 months apart, but are attached at the hip, even when fighting) and a 4 months old girl. Trying to teach the older ones to swim, he is taking to it and she doesn’t even want in the water. May have to pay for formal lessons.
Pat in MN, a remodel is a lot of work. Hope you enjoy. I was up your way a little over a year ago, from Minneapolis to Duluth to Hibbins(spelling?), beautiful state w/ some great people. Just wish you had sweet tea up there.
Best to all,
Sean
Good Morning Alisyn, and everyone,
I also find it frustrating when the so called,
Democratic experts say it will take 10-20 years,
that is so wrong, maybe 1-3 years is more like it, and has soon as we start drilling the prices will come down.
Sal
I too have noticed that everyone uses different numbers to make their own points.
Morning Sal,
did you mind emailing me at….jbadams31779@yahoo.com……need to ask you something…
thanks,
Jimmy
Mike Malone - If you are out there, what do you think about YouTube turning over all your personal info to Viacom? I know you are an avid user of the service and I thought you might have some thoughts about the topic.
I just watched your guy’s segement on the Internet IP addresses and running out of the IP version 4 addresses. The plan for addressing this issue has been in place for a while with the IP Version 6 addresses. All the major operating systems and routers already have version 6 capablity programmed into the systems and it will just mean some configuration changes at the ISP’s to overcome this. You guys need to get your tech people, who are feeding you this stuff, educated a little on what is available and no we don’t need Al Gore to fix this problem as I doubt h would have a realy clue about how the Internet works. I’m guessing he is thining it Tubes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cZC67wXUTs&feature=related
Sound like 4th of July is a great holiday. I’m a teen in New Zealand that is mad on Fox News and everyone says that I’m crazy for watching that! I should have gone on my exchange to the USA earlier. Oh well, I’ll still have a great time. I’ll get to experience Thanks giving. That should be cool!
Morning Alisyn, Glad you had a great weekend, enjoy those three children before you know it they will be grown… It was a good 4th. here in Michigan, a little cool, but then again it ’s Michigan just wait a minute and the weather will change!!!!! Dem always seem to dance around every question, and really have no answers…..McCain in 08!!!!!
Good morning Alysin,
Am almost ready to walk out the door for work. Had a rainy 4th, but a good time anyway. Have my lap top now, so everything is better, as my back is not to the t.v. anymore! The jr senator continues to be ridiculous, so nothing he does is a surprise?
and that is always sad, when I must leave! Have a great time without me…really!!
Good morning everyone, again. Marshall, Pat, Sean, Brad, Chas, Boompa, Dog, Brad, and all of the very smart and funny fellow fans, and a special welcome to Crispy, who is having a hard time in this most wonderful place to be.
I am off to work
Alisyn,
Good morning, that’s a really sharp looking necklace, is it Indian made ?
On the Caroline Kennedy story, my guess is she is finally filling a promise she probably made to her mother to someday get involved in politics and attempt to make a difference.
Keep up the good work !!
Alisyn you did a GREAT job on Saturday,
you made a good show better,
any show your on, you do a awesome job, your Numero uno.
Sal
Thanks Sal!
Good morning Alysin and it is back to work for many of us. But work is what gives us the money to play. Our 4th was quiet which is not a bad thing at all. chas and I really like it that way and we can create our own celebration.
and a good morning to you chas..thanks for a nice week end.
I am not sure of the whole thing with the viacom and stuff—-BUT–if you put it on the internet you must assume that anyone can read or retrieve it. Just as nowadays with cameras so many places, if you do it you may find someone has taken a picture. It did not happen in 1984 but Big Brother is sure watching us now. That is good and bad as most things in life are.
People that have nothing to hide——hide nothing.
I went all out this holiday weekend and had a sliced tomato on my burger!
Maybe I should call in just in case it has a delayed reaction……..
Can’t be too cautious. I’m sure your boss will agree.
Three days out of the office means three rounds of golf. I never hear you speak of the sport so I don’t know if you and your hub play. By the way as a resident of the burbs let me say it’s more then a nice place to visit. It’s a great place to live. Be well
Sal….check my comment to you at 7:47…
thanks,
Jimmy
Jimmy I just emailed you.
Sal
ally,
i hope you are ok, after that bump you took today… it is a pleasure to see you in the mornings… luv your energy
Sal,
I just replied to you….it should be on the way.
I’m out the door now….back at lunch!
Alisyn, you’re the greatest! I just wish you were the host (with Brian and Steve) for the full three hours. Why not???
Gary
I haven’t heard this on any of the major media, have you?
The last majorremnant of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program — a huge stockpile ofconcentrated natural uranium — reached a Canadian port Saturday tocomplete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift fromBaghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.
The removal of 550 metric tons of ‘yellowcake’ — the seed material forhigher-grade nuclear enrichment — was a significant step toward closingthe books on Saddam’s nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S.and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgentsor smugglers crossing to Iran
Funny I don’t hear the people that said Bush lied out there saying they are sorry and were wrong.
chas
Good Morning Everyone,Thank You for your input. My Forth of July was a peaceful quiet evening.I spent the afternoon visiting a long time friend,we just hung out and worked on his new -old motorcycle.took some work it did .we still haven’t got it fired up and on the road.Well I guess thats why its called a project bike.oh bye the way i got a joke for you.. What is the true definition of a diplomat?
A. It is a person who can tell someone else to go to hell in a way that the other person will thank him for it! Please Everyone have a fantastic week.God Bless You and Yours ! charles
I have two questions unrelated to each other. In the photo at the beach you say that you are the one in the bikni. There is, however, a woman in that photo that has a very strong resemblence to you in the family photo, right down to the hairdo; whas up?
Next question. when is Fox Nrews going to hight def. Fox is already working in high def for some purposes. In the Sacramento, ca. market Fox News Snday is being shown in high def as is the Mike and Juilette in the morning show. when does the total change take place?
I’ll skip the where is Page Hopkins question. I think that that question can only be answered if you have accepted a job offer from another company. Don’t understand why, just what I think.
FOX Investigate , so we can decide!
For the sake of “Fair and Balanced” news, could Fox please do it’s own separate investigation with the drill companies themselves on the timing of the actual time of increasing the supply of domestic oil. I am thinking that there will be different timing for different places of drilling. Then also investigate the estimated timing with the actual current developers of new environment friendly renewable energy.
Also, why does this “indivisible” county have to have it one or the other? Why not both? LETS BE AMERICANS AGAIN! Not adults acting like pre-teens.

Good morning again Alysin,
I haven’t left yet, though am ready to leave. Waiting on the daughter to come. She watches grandpa. Am just checking the desk top. Seems it will post comment, but it takes longer I guess…and that is curious. Will have to investigate why, as the lap top posts immediately.
CARRIE—–for a very short time we were all united as Americans. That was after 9/11. It was really a beautiful thing to see come out of a horrific time. Sadly, that disappeared very quickly.
If you are serving our country and keeping us free..thank you and may God keep you safe in the palm of his hand.
Conservation and alternate energy sources are a great idea and we should have been more serious about them back in the 70’s when the gas lines scared everyone into action. But, we are looking at a crisis situation now and we can’t continue to be dependant upon foreign oil suppliers. We need to drill now and continue to work toward other viable options.
What I am hearing from the Democratic side of this discussion is very troubling. From what I gather they want to squeeze the last dime out of our pockets, force failing American automakers to build magic carpets and tax the oil companies into oblivion. That scenario looks like a recipe for economic disaster!
This very important issue needs to rise above the political fray of the 2008 elections and become a primary mission for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a sound idea Ms. Carrie, the problen is, however, that a large part of the politicians are pre-teens pretending to be adults.
chas
Good blog, Alisyn. You asked for photos of our 4th of July activities, so I sent some. The 4th, my wife, daughter (16 yrs old), and I watched the Washington D.C. fireworks from the banks of the Potomac on Ft. McNair. The 5th of July, we had an outstanding breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien in Georgetown, biked all over DC, toured the Corcoran Art Museum, the Folklife Fest, & US Museum of Art. Finished the day at the Pentagon City Simon Mall where the ladies shopped and I sat comfortably on a bench watching people. Great Weekend!
BTW, when I was in the thrid grade I had a crush on a pretty blonde girl in my class named Joy. You look like what I imagine she grew up to look like. That is a compliment to you and her! Very pretty. Best wishes…

Alysin,
I am still here. I agree with you Marshall, of course, and we can blame the environmental activist for our troubles today. It is alarming when intelligent people buy into this mentality, so of course, McCain is a huge problem for me, however, am voting for him. He is too old and smart to buy into this nonsense, so it remains a mystery. The other’s too. So, I must think WE must, follow the MONEY, as usual? Yes, I think so…and the bulging pockets out there, starting with Al.
That said, there are a lot of regular folks out there too, who agree with drilling now, and continue to search and refine alternative power sources. Carrie..all is not lost, we just need to be more active. I am as guilty as the next, for sitting back and just shaking my head, and going on with my busy life. But, who could have thought this would happen? Not me, on any day, but here we are, so I guess it is up to us to get on it, and argue with the Captains and the Kings, yet one more time. We need to vote, of course, and we need to pay very close attention to our representatives we send to Washington to do our business. They really hold the reigns of power, ya know? We must insist they actually do our business, and that takes some paying attention to what is going on. Good luck to all of us, and we need to get tuit, and not be discouraged by the insanity around us, as they get the headlines, and we do not! LOL
Bob Goodwin,
Fox News is already in HD. The problem is that right now almost none of the cable and satellite companies are making the signal available to customers.
I noticed the simularity between Alisyn and the other babe in the swimsuit photo, too. Which amazed me, because I would have never thought I could notice anything but the alluring Alisyn. But after starring for 8 or 10 hours I eventually noticed that there were other people in the picture. LOL
Very funny Mike. That’s one of my bestfriends from high school Lori, the one I just visited last month in Seattle who just had her first baby. She was always a babe. Still is.
I spent the time watching “The Revolution” on THC. And before the fireworks as I traditionally do I read the Declaration of Independendce. It’s still astounding what the founders went through and I will always have the deepest appreciation for their selfless sacrifices. We are forever indebted to them. Idependence Day isn’t about cookouts and fireworks, although it is mentioned to some degree in”Common Sense” by Thomas Paine, it is about escaping the shackles of tyranny, which our leaders have mostly forgotten.
Alysin
Didn’t go back and look, but doesn’t Alysin have sisters? or sister? hummm…I thought she did. But, we all looked a bit alike back then boys, a very determined effort, I assure you. We didn’t leave the house without several calls to friends, to make sure we were all on the same page…and that is a fact, at any time. So, though I am “older” than Alysin, things have not changed a bit!
Mike Malone,
I thought I had to call my cable company to hook up the HD on the cable. My t.v. has that capacity, however, I have not made that call yet. I guess I should? lol Just do not know the ins and outs of this process.
Eileen said, “People that have nothing to hide——hide nothing”
Eileen,
Do you have curtains over your windows? Do you let just anyone that knocks on your door to rummage thru your house and look anywhere they want too? Do you close the bathroom door when taking a shower?
Why?
Are you hiding something?
Or is it that you like your privacy and feel somethings are not other people’s business, even if you aren’t “hiding” something?
Gini,
Our lovely Alisyn is an only child. My guess is her parents knew they had reached perfection on the first try and saw no reason to try further.
But if you look at the young lady beside Alisyn I think you will see that there are simularities in her facial features. There hair is different and they are wearing different style swimsuits, so that is not the reason for thinking they have some simularity in appearance. I am guessing she might be a cousin of Alisyn’s.
You do have to get the cable company to hook you up with HD, but it won’t help if they don’t carry the Fox News HD channel. It is a seperate channel from the regular Fox News channel that we all watch.
Oh Mike! That is a huge ditto….you are absolutely correct on every level. Of course, it was never a question of “hiding” but a question and right of “privacy”. Our privacy has been invaded big time, and it is alarming. I think Eileen is very smart, and maybe didn’t think this all the way through perhaps. As I know Chas is a history buff and enjoys his “privacy”, I would think that he would agree with you perhaps? At any rate…even a little of our rights given up, opens the door to much more in the offing..and that is a fact! lol Indeed, I have “nothing to hide”, but my business is none of theirs!
I agree Mr. Malone,
But in her defense I don’t believe she is looking at it as a privacy issue, more of a content thing.
In other words she is not concerned if someone sees what ytube she watches.
chas
Thanks Mike Malone…so I must call the cable company, and then see if fox is hooked to it. Well, I can do that. Opps…I prob should have known that about Alysin! Geezzzz!! You are probably absolutely right, and it is a cousin.
He family is close, and big, aren’t they?
Sir Knight…you are so gallant, as expected. I agree with you absolutely, and Eileen also. There should be no expectation of privacy on the wed/net/utube, etc. There was none ever really, in that venue. The old, if you don’t want to see it on the front page of the paper, better not be writing it down? We were all told this when growing up, and our first experience of, would have been the confiscated note, in school, and read to the WHOLE class…and usually a really really stupid observation or opinion neatly scribed to the best friend? Yes, I think that is surely true! re: aka, Chas
There was another story in the news over the weekend that only got passing mention with an occasional sneer, or one-liner. This guy had shipped about 200 pounds of marijuana across country via Fed-X. That was pretty much the extent of the story and the subliminal emphasis was that this guy was a moron. However, what struck me by the story was that he easily got that box of goodies past everyone at Fed-X and it was delivered just fine. The only reason he got caught was that Fed-X delivered it to the wrong address and the person that got it decided to open up someone else’s package then report the find.
What a comedy of errors! Fed-X is shipping weed all over the country no questions asked, people that get other’s packages are exploring the content to see if it is something they want and this drug dealer is the only one catching heat from this exchange.
Privacy or intelligence doesn’t seem to be an issue with these to people. They air their private affairs daily.
Mike…………..
chas is totally right…I meant the internet thingy or on the street with a camera watching. Thanks Gini also. You are very right about the privacy. chas helps me understand the constitutional part all the time. I am sort of nieve (sp) and often have on rose colored glasses.
Time and time again people are caught through what they do on the internet. They think if they delete history or the cache file it is gone. I was told, if it is EVER on your hard drive a good tech type person can retrieve it. I seem to remember that was used to catch the guy in the Vermont girl that was killed.
Magazines sell your name all the time to other magazines. I often wondered if internet places can do that. Catalogue places do it also. I was a teacher 5 years ago and STILL get catalogues from those places.
I worry every time I have to give out my SS number. We used to have them on our time sheets at the school where I taught. The owners 12 year old son was writing them down once and got caught. That ended that.
*I do think, however, that searching the addresses of users is a sticky issue. It remains, none of their business, so it will be interesting to see how this works out.
Opps…the jr senator fr Illinois, is on the ground in St. Louis..trouble with his airplane, it would seem. hummmm…one is so suspicious of everything he does, so wonder whatsup with that? lol
You are quite welcome Eileen…and you are very smart indeed, and no more naive than I me thinks. We are trying very hard to not be so, though. This is an important thing to talk about I think, with our country at risk, and homeland security, and the whole of. Yep! So, you go girl. I think your comments are thoughtful and interesting.
Alysin,
The boy is here and thinks he has this comment thing fixed on the desk top. Let’s see if he does….here goes!
Hello Alisyn,
and I should say “hello” to my friend Pat Richie Florida, of course. What a great weekend, my poor body is a little better today after resting all day yesterday, and I do mean “all day”.
I’m alive after the “life of Riley” I led this weekend, glad to see we all survived and that the nice people of the world are out today.
I did miss Julie Bandera’s shows this weekend, woe is me!
Carlos,
Don’t be too upset. Julie was on vacation this weekend and Uma Pemmaraju (sorry Uma if I got that spelled wrong) filled in for her in the afternoons. Jamie Colby did the Fox Report on both days.
hi carlos glad you had a great weekend
Thanks Mike,
now I don’t feel so bad, I was just so out of it yesterday that I just thought I’d missed her. Nothing against Uma or anyone else, because all the ladies of FoxNews are beautiful, but I do have my soft spot for Julie Banderas, I automatically smile when I see her lovely face.
I’m definitely prefer raven haired ladies but Ainsley Earndheart would challange that almost anytime. The only time it wouldn’t matter would be when Julie Banderas is around. I’ve named my tattoo “JB” for Julie Banderas.
It is the coolest tattoo I’ve ever seen, and I get a lot of compliments on it, very tastefully done but no doubt it is a mans tattoo.
what is the tatoo and where is it and how about a picture of it
okay, I tried to post it under “Entertainment”, the tattoo is located on my left arm. If you cannot find it on this sight. Look up “Troon McAllister” (author) and his book “SCRATCH”, she’s on the cover of his book. Obviously they’re golf fiction but my new hero, Eddie Camanetti, is the star. First book in the series is “The Green”, I highly recommend it to any golfers, you’ll be hooked. The tattoo on myarm is very similar but there are a few changes, check it out and let me know what you think!
send me an e-mail to clubchucker_golf at the yahoo place and I’ll sent it to you.
Mike M., FNC-HD is coming to Cablevision the week of July 28, along with 14 other HD channels (and Fox Business Network, maybe, please?).
As I’ve said a few times before at this blog, I watch “Fox and Friends” on DVR in the afternoon. So far, I’ve only seen the “First” hour. I’m about to watch the main two hours. But I’ve seen the video of Jay Thomas carrying Alisyn. Good stuff.
Gini-
Anything you post on the internet can be seen by million of people around the world, and it permanantly there. That is precisely the reason why you shouldnt post too much personal info, like where you live, or anything that a person can use to track you down. You always hear a lot about identity theft and other dreadful stuff when a person purchases things on the internet.
With the rise of Youtube and other social networking sites. it makes it a whole lot easier for anonymous people to become famous just by posting all their personal stuff. I just dont see what is the point.
Gini-
Alisyn has one brother, contrary to reports, and he is a well known abdominal surgeon. Hope this helps.
Carlos-
I dont think you missed Julie Banderas, because she wasnt on due to the 4th of July weekend.
Uma Pemmaraju filled in during the 4pm news slot, and the Fox Report and news updates several hours after that was done by Jamie Colby.
Hope this helps.
I know ESPN recently switched the HD earlier this month, but i dont really think its worth the money to call you cable company to install it. Plus next year, all tv stations will be turning digital, so i will be just like HD, you will get a clearer pic of what you are watching. On May 1, 2008, Fox News launched a high definition channel simulcast. Time Warner has agreed to carry this channel in parts of New York and Texas, though rollout to other providers is expected to go slowly.
All i can say about that Youtube privacy lawsuit, is that i am glad i dont have an account on there. I wouldnt want all of my personal info out there for any stranger to rummage thru.
Hi Brad…yes, and thank you. *blush* Should have known, of course, as I am a huge fan. Have a hard time keeping up with my six, so that is my excuse, and I am sticking tuit!
RE: Alysin/kith&kin
I think that is the issue..of course. Like the library, unless there is a warrant, related to a crime, the powers that be are not allowed to know what anyone may have checked out of the library. I think that is a good law? It is still in place, I think? Sure, it must be! The events of our recent history, have caused people to pause and think about all this, and just where privacy stops, and security begins. Like many things, what sounds reasonable on the face of, is not at all reasonable and dangerous..our freedoms are fragile today, and should be guarded carefully, I think.
