Watch this Saturday
by Alisyn Camerota
Happy Fourth of July everyone! Hope you’re all knee-deep in bbq and coleslaw but, hey, watch out for that watermelon (as we learned on Thursday). Just wanted to remind you all, if you’re looking for something to do tomorrow, tune into FOX News Watch (6:30pm eastern on Saturday). I’ll be hosting.

hi alisyn happy fourth of july to you and your family hey could you wear a hat tomorrow on fox?
Hi Alysin, and Happy Birthday to all of us, and we hope you are having a wonderful day. I am so relieved to know my puter is working again…and of course, we will be watching you tomorrow!!! Even those of us who might not normally…so the show should get a HUGE boost in it’s numbers…lol What kyle? A hat? I love hats, but, a hat??? hummm…must be a story behind that and am not aware? lol
hello alisyn ill tune in. ive watched fox news since the begginging i love you guys you keep my mornings entertaining.
“Knee deep in coleslaw.” You have no idea. As far as watermelons go, my wife banned them 20 years ago. But she still says it didn’t work. I have you auto tuned at 4:30 (mountain time) tomorrow. Hope everyone else does too. By the way, whenever I compliment you to my wife (which I only do Monday through Friday, unless you’re on over the weekend) she tells me I have The Best Taste in Women. She’s always right. Hope you’re having a fun, relaxing day. Now back to scraping off that ~*#!$* coleslaw.
I don’t think that was BBQ I just stepped into!
I will be tuning in tomorrow to watch you host that show! Who will your guest be? Why not book Geraldo Rivera and Michelle Malkin. That would be interesting.
Happy 4th to you and your family Alisyn. Hope you’ve had a good day. I’ll certainly tune in tomorrow.
Dear Alisyn…Happy 4th of July. I hope you’re enjoying BBQ and close friends…I would request that FoxNews begin a retrospective on July 4th’s. I think that viewers would like to see how the holiday has been celebrated in times past.
We have forgotten the importance of this holiday…I hope you will focus on everyday American’s celebration of this important holiday.
Shalom Aleichem, Mark P.
Hi Alisyn
hope you had a good 4th of course we would never miss you on any show you appear you make the show what it is you have a very loyal bunch of bloggers out here that like you for so many reasons sure you are cute and perky but most important you are an excellent host and commentator
and report the news without prejudice
will be watching
I will definitely be watching “Fox News Watch” later today (Saturday) to watch you host, Alisyn. I’m a regular viewer, so I was going to watch anyway, but this is an added bonus. I just hope I like the panel. Since it’s a holiday weekend, it probably won’t be Cal Thomas, Jane Hall, Jim Pinkerton, and a fourth person, as it usually is. But we’ll see at 6:30 tonight…barring breaking news, of course. The Behind the Break videos should be fun, too.
I think Michelle Malkin should go back to filling in for Bill O’Reilly. I just saw her this afternoon on Neil Cavuto. I really like her ideas and outspoken viewpoints.
Maybe FNC should give Michelle her own show someday, she would be very good at it
Did anyone happen to catch that Nathans hot dog eating competition? For the first time in history, the contest went into overtime. I dont know how those guys do it. I could never stuff myself and eat a whole bunch of food like that. A person could die from a shock to the heart.
Did anyone hear about this? It was on Americas Election HQ with Patti Ann Browne this afternoon. Apparently a lawsuit is forcing Google to turn over all YouTube personal user info to Viacom, or face a lawsuit. Luckilly i dont use that site, only to browse and watch videos. But i dont have an account there.
Hey Alisyn.
Thanks for the update. I will be sure to set my VCR, since i probably wont be home at the time.
I hope you had an awesome 4th of July
Maybe next year, you can consider inviting me and some of your follow blog posters over for a huge potluck of hamburgers and hotdogs!
Good Morning Alisyn, and everyone,
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July,
and for Randi Petrich’s question, what happened to Page Hopkins,
I wish I could answer that for you, I liked her too, and Greg Kelly what happened to him? Alisyn we will be watching at 6:30pm.
Sal

Having our favorite FOX News anchor hosting one of our favorite FNC’s shows will be the crème de la crème.. Wouldn’t miss it Alisyn!
See ya later!
Thanks for the time if the show Alisunshine. I didn’t and dont want to miss you. In the heat of the day the AC will be very welcome. AC is natures organic watermelon.
Alisyn I am glad you posted a reminder with the time!
Happy 4th Ms. Alisyn,
I set the TIVO yesterday just to be sure I didn’t miss you.
I’m trying to flesh out an idea based on the 80’s week idea, that I run by you and the rest of the bloggers on Monday. That is unless you’d rather me just run it by you first.
I hope you and the family had a wonderful Holiday.
Bloggers one and all, enjoy but be safe, we want you back on MOnday. Happy 4th all!
chas
That should read; “that I would like to run by you…”
One of these days I’ll get use to this lap top….lol
Good afternoon Alysin,
We are all set up and ready to see the show today. I have a lap top now and am learnng to type on it. Trying to keep the thumb off the cursor pad!! Hope you had a great 4th. Rainy and dreary here, and not much better today, but am on the deck anyway playing with the lap top….waiting for your “show” to come on…
Hello Chas..and fellow bloggers. Have discovered the music thingy on the web too…getting so accomplished, so can enjoy music of my liking whilst I type away, in this most excellent place, with all the really smart people.
Well, I’ll be….that posted right now. Hummm…must be the desk top then, as I suspected. Will need to have someone come over and see what on earth I did to the program. lol
hey gini hey chas
Hey Alisyn!
Will you be checking this blog before, during and after this show at 6:30 Eastern Time? It would be fun if we could ask a few questions. Don’t ya think?
hey marshall get a good nap
Pat - Yep, I will probably be up half the night now, because I slept too long and too deep. I may have overdosed on watermelon rind yesterday.
LOL rind and all huh???????
Hi Alysin and fellow bloggers…and there you are Alysin!! And you are magnificent! Must pause and watch…
Hey…have made another observation. This lap top is easier to use “on my lap”! Why didn’t someone tell me that! Oh…she’s back..shshshshsh!
Alisyn is lookin’ and soundin’ good on this Saturday! Where do we go to watch online between breaks?
Alisyn is so different from most of the others that host these programs. She has an energy and curiosity that is infectious and that reflects in the attitude of all the others on the panel.
If we do not put the leakers in jail, then this will continue to happen, of course. And it is wrong, and any sane person knows this. Too sad really…I am not smiling at all regarding this story, and am disappointed in Jane for supporting this. She is usually smart…too bad.
And Cal is correct regarding Rush! And we laugh at them all, don’t we?
Good for Rush!
i certainly agree Marshall…she is dynamic for sure. But, we already knew that Alysin, which is why we are especially tuned in? I like this show anyway, but do not hardly ever watch, as something else is on. Indeed, had to rest the remote to be able to watch on the “big screen” instead of upstairs!
Surely you are not asking me that question are you Marshall? I wouldn’t have a clue! lol
good job alisyn
as usual you were well prepared had all your facts and presented them in your great no nonsense way
no matter what show you are on it is well worth watching
see you monday morning alisyn
That was a quick 30 minutes!
Good job Alysin!! That was great…lol
Oh good! I like Jamie Colby too!
See ya over there kiddo..and you too Marshall.
We did like that a lot for sure Alysin..:) And it was a very fast thirty for sure!
I thought she said we could watch online during the breaks, but I couldn’t find a link to any live streaming video.
Alisyn you were really in your element with that show, but man it went by quickly!
i dont know where you go for that marshall
Man-o-man, Jamie Colby sure is looking good tonight! My heavy breathing can’t be heard in this post, can it?
Hi: Watched you today as host on Fox News. You did great. Not only great, but better than a lot of reporters. Sorry you have to go back to the 6 am show. Those morons are so out of it. You should ask to be moved. I don’t watch it anymore. Every thing is a joke with these guys, even when something serious is on. I watch Karen on CNN a station I don’t like.
Hi Alisyn!
It was a nice treat to see you hosting, News Watch today. You did a great job! Hope to see you hosting your own program on FOX soon.
Cheers, Frank
“Fox News Watch” was pretty good tonight. I’d say “great,” but the segment on the NYT leaking that info was very frustrating. I was watching on my DVR and had to skip the last minute or so of that segment. I couldn’t believe Jane and Patricia were fine with the leak, but this is what fair and balanced is all about: two people see it one way, two people see it another way, and Alisyn moderates the sides.
The Behind the Break videos can be found at: http://www.foxnews.com/foxnewswatch
…that is, they should be found there, but last week’s videos are still up. Give it a few hours. Also check the video page: http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html
Maybe this week’s Behind the Break videos are there in the Latest Video feed.
Hi Alysin,
Am checking the desk top to see if it is still not posting. The lap top did…hummm. Just thought I would mention, all you have to do to turn the lap top off, is push the “off” button. I know, but I thought the turning off would be as complicated as the turning on? lol Here goes nothing…..
Still checking to see if this will post…trying to fix the problem..humm. I who can’t turn the lap top off? lol
Trying one more time to see if it will post from this way in…
Alisyn,
Terrific job of hosting “News Watch”. You are great on every show you are involved with. Apparently the camra crew doesen’t appreciate fabulous legs. Missed opportunity.
Keep up your excellent work.
Paul –Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Alisyn-Great job on Fox News Watch. I haven’t watched that show in a couple of years now but made a point to be home and tune in today.
This week’s Behind the Break videos are still not up.
Not Backing Down:
by Jennifer Pharr
My phone rang on January 3rd.
“Hey, Jen. Glad you picked up. I wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” I reassured my friend. “What’s up?”
“Well, I heard a report on the news that a 24-year-old female was missing after hiking alone in the Southern Blue Ridge and, well…I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”
That phone call marked the moment that Meredith Emerson began to impact my life.
Within the past four months, the deaths of Irene Bryant, Cheryl Hodges Dunlap, and especially Meredith Emerson have deeply penetrated my thoughts and emotions. Like all three women, I love hiking. I have hiked over 5,000 miles in the past three years, and 95 percent of those steps have been taken alone as a solo hiker.
When Irene Bryant, who lived 15 minutes from my hometown of Hendersonville, N.C., was found murdered on a popular trail 20 miles away, I was sickened by how close the event was to me, both physically and emotionally. I remember second-guessing my upcoming day and overnight hikes in the area, and I particularly remember a phone conversation with my concerned dad who begged me to be extra cautious of people and surroundings while hiking in the local parks.
Then, two months later when I heard Cheryl Hodges Dunlap’s body had been recovered in a Florida national forest, I felt violated and angered that someone would prey on a single female hiking alone. The event further confirmed my recent decision not to hike the 1,400-mile Florida Trail alone this winter.
But when the story of Meredith Emerson’s tragic death began to surface, I couldn’t verbalize my emotions. I didn’t know how to feel. The only thing I could do was cry. For a full week after her body was recovered, I would turn on my computer every morning and cry over a new article. I cried over her disappearance, and then I cried over her confirmed death. I cried over the touching sentiments of Meredith’s friends and family in the wake of her passing. I cried over her obituary and the many internet memorials that testified to a life well lived, but one that was cut short. I cried for Meredith, I cried for her family, and—unknowingly—I cried for myself.
Meredith’s bio is eerily similar to my own. We were the same age, the same marital status, and the same race. We were recent college graduates with similar degrees. We both loved wine and foreign culture, four-legged creatures, and good books. We both loved creation and the Creator to the point that both of us volunteered in a Presbyterian Church nursery during our college years. On top of that, we both loved the woods, loved to hike, and felt safe and experienced in the wilderness. Reading Meredith’s obituary was like staring death in the face. The realization of her fate shook me because I could not separate what happened to her from what could or may still happen to me.
I don’t remember school psychology so I don’t know what stages of grief I went through. All I know is that initially I felt scared. I felt scared to hike, scared to pursue what I love. I felt anxious on my next trail run and paranoid on my next hike. I even flipped out when a neighbor of mine unexpectedly approached me in the dark. As someone not easily upset or scared, I was now constantly looking over my shoulder.
Eventually, though, my fear evolved into anger. How could someone carry out such a hateful and twisted act? What kind of deranged background and mental disorder does this killer have that would cause him to do such evil? How dare he end such a beautiful life with his sinister motives? And why Meredith? Why this gracious, loving woman in the prime of her youth? Why not someone else? Why not me?
I’m not sure why Meredith experienced this painful departure, but what I do know is that in her passing I witnessed sincere sorrow for of this 24-year old hiker. Meredith’s memorial page on the internet was bombarded with messages and prayers from men and women, young and old, East-Coasters, West-Coasters, and residents everywhere in between. The page had posts from animal lovers, tree huggers, and people who simply recognized a shining star snuffed out by the evil of the world. After several weeks of reading about and praying for Meredith Emerson, I now carry peace that she lived life to the fullest, that she loved and was dearly loved, and that she will never be forgotten.
Although I sometimes feel guilty that fate called Meredith home early when it just as easily could have been me, I have found peace and purpose in attempting to keep her memory alive and her passion ablaze. This summer I am thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail for myself, for Cheryl, for Irene, and especially for Meredith. I am thru-hiking as a statement to any human predators who disturb the serenity, peace, and safety of the woods. Such men cannot take stifle my love of nature and solitude; they can only make me appreciate it more.
I am hiking the trail north to south this year. Providentially, on my second to last day of the trail, I will pass over Blood Mountain, the site of Meredith’s last hike. There I will pause, pray, and remember Meredith Emerson. I will sit on the mountain and whisper words into the breeze, and the words will be carried away to where Meredith can hear them. I will thank her for her courage and her example. I will tell her how she inspired me to hike, and more importantly, I will tell her how she inspired me to live. I will remind her that she hasn’t been forgotten, and that she never will be forgotten. Then, I will stand up and do exactly what Meredith would want me to do – I’ll keep hiking.

Happy 4th, Alisyn, from the North GA Mountains
If it wasn’t a holiday weekend, to go back to what I said yesterday, those Behind the Break videos would probably have been up hours before the show aired. Oh, well. It’s not like I have to see what’s in between segments every week.
Did anyone here happen to see that special tonight about how the youth vote may help sway this years election? It was a very eye opening, and had a lot of info i didnt even know about. I sure hope this isnt a slam dunk win for that liberal BHO. Because as far as i am concerned, he is going to take this country in all the wrong directions. And that is change that voters can believe in? I highly doubt it.
What are your thoughts on that new show with Larry Elder that was on tonight? It was pretty interesting, including that report on that teacher who supposedly branded some students with the mark of the cross. I wonder if this is going to be a weekly series?
Salvatore-
Greg Kelly recently moved to the 4pm spot with Julie Banderas. But he wasnt on this weekend, probably because he was on vacation.
As for what happened to Page Hopkins, she is probably on hiatus also because of the election coverage. But i am sure she will be back soon, appearing on one of those FNC programs.
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/fnc/new_faces_on_ff_weekend_this_morning_77689.asp
Hope this info helps.
I wonder why Jamie Colby filled in for Julie Banderas for the Fox Report tonight? I noticed she did the same thing for Greta on Thursday.
Maybe someone here can put in a good words to the FNC viewer services to have Alisyn host Fox News Watch every week. Now that would really be awesome
And i think video should surface over on youtube really soon, although i havent seen it yet.
Brad,
The left has been counting on the youth vote and saying it will be the turning point for this, (meaning all of them), election since 18 yr olds got the vote. Truth is that they have always failed to show up in Nov.
The kids seem to get all worked up during the primary but find better things to do at election time.
chas
Subject: Faith based initiatives discussion this morning.
Why would it not be proper to spend federal dollars for the organizations that perform social services that are faith based but it is proper to spend federal dollars to abort babies. We don’t want to offend someone while helping others out, but there is no problem killing babies and offending the millions of Americans that oppose legal abortions.
Seems that there is a double standard.
Good Morning Alisyn,
You made a good show, better, but I also find the NYT leaking that info,
frustrating, it make you wonder what side is the New York Times on?
thanks Brad,
but I havent seen Greg Kelly in weeks, maybe he will be on next week?
Good Morning Chas,
your right, by the time november comes they know a lot more about the candidates, that they didnt know during the primary, and they dont want to say they were wrong, so they just dont vote, I hope, plus they said the same thing in 04,
Sal
Good morning Alysin,
The story by Wolfscratch is beautiful…thank you for the reminder that life is fragile, but should not ever be unrealized or taken for granted. I am still having chills over your commentary.
I must agree with the story this minute on f&f…wouldn’t have been willing to participate in the baby for the teens show…nope! Not at all, on any day, even if I was right next door..not happenin!! And, hey! I did have six, and each one of them were precious…nope, not happenin on any day for any reason. Wasn’t too tired, didn’t wish them away, so there ya are. A good sitter, dinner and a movie, and I was ready to get back tuit.
Good morning sal, chas, wolfscratch and brad
i agree with chas asessment during the primaries when the big party atmosphere is there and someone is calling them constantly or knocking on the doors of these young people they are full of the whole atmosphere but by election time when they are back in school and busy with their everyday lives they dont make time to go to the voiting booth
wolfscratch a very touching tribute and i am glad you were able to go back to doing what you so love to do
There is usually a big push to get young voters registered on college campuses throughout the country and they make the registration process effortless for them. Only a fraction of them voted in the primaries and even fewer will vote during the general election.
A problem I am seeing is that Republicans seem a little lazy this year, because they are not that enthusiastic about McCain. I hope they truly weigh the differences between the two candidates and realize just how important their vote is.
morning marshall
You guys/gals don’t stop do you? Good Day to everyone.
Hope you had a good 4th.
Whoops!
I didn’t like “Showdown with Larry Elder” (except for the Elder Word commentary), but loved “Election ‘08: The Y Factor.” I am, after all, a millennial. I was born in November 1981.
And for the record, still no Behind the Break videos from this week. I officially give up.
Good afternoon Alysin,
I am not afraid of the youth vote either. If they vote, that will be a first, and that is for sure. Usually they have much more important things to do, so we will hope that is the case, yet one more time.
Nope Sean…we do love this most wonderful place to be, and the Alysin is just so wonderful, in a moment of calm, one might check this spot. Yeppers, and that is the way it is.
Alysin,
And by the way…just in passing, as we wonder about watermelon, and other uses for….Listerine folks, in a spray bottle…the old regular stuff is what I bought but any flavor would work I guess…it drives the bees, gnats, and other flying and annoying things, away from the deck or porch, or outdoors, or indoors, and is totally non toxic, and doesn’t stain or hurt anything. Too cool–have tried it–and it does work absolutely.
And cheap, of course, a biggy today with gas prices and milk prices, and grain prices, and and and!!
and smells good toooooooo???
I think youth voters are so blindsided by this “change we can believe in” nonsense, they dont see the real candidate behind BHO. He is flawed in many ways, i couldnt even begin list the reasons. And what is this stupidity i have been hearing about young female college students fainting whenever they see BHO? No offense, but what is so amazing about this guy? Maybe its the fact that all he craves is power.
I just have an uncomfortable feeling that the youth will really turn out this November, and i am afraid it wont benefit McCain at all. That is precisely the reason why his supporters need to rally behind him, and spread the word about his message on college campuses and student unions.
Hey Chas-
Thanks for your perspective, i really appreiciate your take on the subject.
I wonder if these third party candidates, like Bob Barr, and of course, Ralph Nader, will yet again steal votes from McCain? And i bet the liberal swear machine couldnt be more happier.
I totally agree with Gini-
This blog is like a gathering place for all of us fellow FNC viewers. We are like one big happy family
Sal-
I am pretty sure Greg Kelly will be back next week. But i also noticed i didnt see him last week also, and it didnt have anything to do with the 4th of July Holiday.
And the NY Times is a liberal left wing publication, so of course they are going to be biased and leak negative info that is going to affect the Republicans.
That is exactly why i dont bother reading it anymore. I would stay with the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post. Both are owned by News Corp., the parent company of FNC, so you know you can trust it.
Another thing that started to happen with the youth vote, and was mentioned last night, is those social networking sites(which i absolute hate, most of them are full of weirdos), they play a large role. I guess its a way young people can feel more connected to their candidates.
I have MySpace and Facebook accounts, but I’m not a weirdo. I haven’t been blindsided by Obama; I’m a McCain guy. I have the same fear, though. It seems like so many of my fellow youths love Obama and will likely vote for him in November. But we’ll see if they show up. I’m definitely voting this year, though, as I have in every election since I turned 18.
I don’t think those people that fainted at random Obama rallies did so because of him. It was probably the heat.
Brad,
As Spock would say there are always possibilities. That said however, history tends to take the lead, so I feel pretty much at ease that kids will be kids will remain kids. If Obama is going to win it will not be kids that put him there, it will be the ill run for President by McCain.
All factors indicate that the Dems should be ahead by 20-25 points, and the best Obama has is a tie right now. I believe that this is why he is trying to hold off or do away with town hall type debates. McCain would eat him for lunch.
Where I McCain I would do two things right now. First I would pick Mike Steele as my VP. This would negate Obama’s sure to happen racist rants by his people. Besides I think Steele might very well actually be the first black President, should he become VP. Second, I would plan a couple of town hall meetings based upon Obama’s off days and declare “I’ll be there, will you?” I would do this before the Convention kicks off.
Hey Sen. McCain or his people, you reading this?….lol
chas
Or Mike…they were paid to do so? And who cares. He’s not a rock star. He wishes to be prez. So, how is everyone? The lap top is ok, the desk top is still not functioning correctly. Was a relief to know I wasn’t banished.
I read somewhere that FNC is in talks for a Mike Huckabee talk show pilot. I really admired Mike when he was a presidential candidate. He and Rudy were my favorites.
Yahoo 360 and Yahoo MASH are two of the best social networking sites, in my opinion. I have accounts on there.
Hi Brad…still fighting with this lap top…but is pretty nice, as long as I keep that thumb off the cursor pad.
Must purchase a wireless mouse I guess…:)
Gini-
Do you happen to have those AT and T laptop connect cards?
I dont really have a laptop computer, are those any better than the desktop ones. My internet connection is really bad, a lot of times i find myself using the computers in the libraries. Its a lot faster.
Is one a weirdo if they have a myspace? Oh dear!! Grandma is a weirdo…well, the grandkids might think so. I have interfered with big time..them thar kids must keep it clean, and use their very best language if I am going to be a “friend” ~~smile~~ and since they like me (or my pocketbook), they will comply? Oh, I think so. Can’t beat me on any issue anyway…not old enough to be savvy? For sure! What a group they all are. But, they are the ones that thought this would be a good plan, so deal with it I say! lol
So, where is Sean? lol
