Alisyn in the Greenroom

The Smithereens

It was great to hear the Smithereens out on our plaza this morning.  They sound exactly the way they did in the 80s and the lead singer told me that’s by design:  they work on preserving their sound and energy level.  Now if only we all still looked the same.  You can buy their new The Smithereens CD “Live in Concert! Greatest Hits and More” now.

Ok, I know I’m horrible. But I don’t remember these guys. Can you hum a few bars Alisyn?? I didn’t get to hear them since I was at a REAL job. :)

Comment by Marshall

I was goofing off at my real job too and didn’t hear them. That’s why I wish they would put the AtSS up sooner, because it really enhances my goofing off time at my real job. 8O

Amen Marshall.

By the way, I call that my “innovation” time. It’s a new buzz word around here!!

Comment by Marshall

I like that “Innovation Time” idea. That’s much better than me suddenly saying Thank You Jesus when I am startled awake by the boss.

Well, I just watched the ASS and I still don’t think I know those guys.

Comment by chas

Allow me to join the club. I haven’t a clue as to who these guys are.

Of course, a few weeks ago 80’s music was the topic and I failed to answer 5 question, so I’m not much to judge by. ;)

It’s kind of watching the culture quiz on O’Reilly’s show, isn’t it?

I dont remember this band either, and i am usually a whiz when it comes to the decades trivia and music. What are the names of some of their songs? I really didnt catch that concert, because i had to go to work.

I wonder if Gretchen will be filling in again during the Culture Quiz segment?

Comment by Brad

Will Gretchen will filling in during the culture quiz thing? Just wondering?

Comment by chas

Comment by Brad

Is Gretchen going to be on the quiz thing this week again?

Chas-

Thanks for the heads up.

I almost forgot to mention, remember all those cigarette advertisements you would always see in magazines and newspapers during the decades? It was hard to go anywhere without seeing those. They wer everywhere, on the bus stop benches and even billboards.

Generally speaking I prefer Allisyn’s warm enthusiasm over any of the female hosts on early morning TV; it takes quite a bit for me (i’m on the West Coast) so it’s 3AM to catch Allisyn so that’s my opinion. Please take care of Allisyn Fox peeps! You sort of have a reputation of ((((blowing up)))))) your starring readers.

ALISYNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN Please post some of Steve, Brians, yours etc 80s pic on here. I HATE when you all leave the ‘good’ stuff for the last hr. I have to leave at 8:00 to go to work so I miss alot of the ‘GOOD STUFF’ Wish you all would STOP doing that. Thanks

Comment by Leah

80’s Week. You MUST have Don Johnson & Co. of Miami Vice. Hope I did not already miss them!!!!

Well, I tried clicking on that box in the upper right corner that says “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and I think it honked me on the nose! We will see…. lol

I doubt the pictures made it through that uReport maze that wants to know your great grandmother’s social security number and when you last bought a tomato, but it was fun looking back through all the old pictures and remembering that time in my life. It seems like yesterday and at the same time it seems like that was some other person and I was only an onlooker. Funny ain’t it…..

Comment by Cherie

Please post some of y’alls 80s pics here. Please stop saving all the ‘good stuff’ for the last hr of the show. I have to leave for work at 8 am, I don’t get to watch the last hr :(

Comment by Paula LSMO

Against my best judgement I too decided to submit a picture-LOL. I agree Marshall, getting through the maze was enough to make you dizzy. Too late in the evening for me to have to think about where to send the picture.

I don’t remember the Smithereens, well at least the name. I’d probably hear a song and know who they are. The song they sang on the AtSS sounded a little familiar.

By the way, I still think the name that Alisyn said on Red Eye was LD.

Speaking of watermelons, i guess we will never know the exact cause of the samonella outbreak caused by the tomatoes. It could have come from any other fresh vegetables, according to reports.

Three things about this morning:

1. Music was heard.

2. News was delivered.

3. Fox and Friends were outside.

Not that I know Ms. Alisyn any better than anyone else, but I submit that it is at least likey that she just tossed out a name, knowing it would be bleeped out just to stir the pot.

In which case it might never been known, not will you ever know if it was put out there just to tease you or as a fact. I suspect the tease.

It is amazing how few bands keep their sounds over the years. I just saw Steely Dan at the Beacon last Saturday and they still are the best. I had almost forgotten the Smitherines. Good tune and great memory. Thanks. By the way last week you were trying to be a Yenta for Derek Jeter and I don’t think anyone suggested Julie Banderas. She is beautiful and brilliant. Mr Jeter should be so lucky. Be well and enjoy your holiday.

For those that need a refresher on the smitherians or any of the 80s music, you can go to amazon.com and put the name of the band in the search engine. it will list thier hits with the possibility to hear a sample of each song. Then if you want you can buy the mp3 version.
Good way to clear the old cobwebs out of the corners of the music memories. :)

Opps, I misspelled the bands name. They are the Smithereens, of course!

Alisyn, you and all the host on the show are great fun , witty and upbeat as you blend in the seriousness of the world news in a very approciate manner, thats what makes the fox news shows so wonderfuly different. Don’t let the fox news shows change a thing . THe Blend of of fun is a good mix , it just helps the viewers handle all the realness of whats tragic across the globe, war, terrorist attacks, crime on all levels we all know these events are most important its in all our minds daily, However the moments of fun on fox & friends for the viewers to wake up to can only help to start the day off in a better mind set, so thanks for the wonderful job you all do their at Fox news?Fox& Friends. I wonder if you can upload some of their songs over on itunes, or maybe someone would be selling it on ebay.
