Alisyn in the Greenroom

The 80’s!

Ahh…my favorite decade!  Remember the horrible haircuts (I had one resembling Joan Jett’s), the stone-washed jeans, the bad tv?  For all the ills of the decade, I maintain it had the best music.  Here’s what would have been on my IPOD (had that been invented back then):  Squeeze, the English Beat, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Go-Gos!  And of course, who can forget Shrapnel?  You can, you say?  What’s Shrapnel, you ask?  My all-time favorite 80s band.  I followed them to the ends of the earth — or at least CBGBs.  Yeah, that teeny-bopper in the hot pink lipstick and leopard print shirt, dancing in the front row of the mosh pit, yeah, that was me.  Now tell me your favorite 80’s memories and feel free to send pictures!  (just click the “Hit us with Your Best Shot” box in the upper right corner to do so).  Can’t wait to see them.  As for my photos, you’ll have to tune in at 6am tomorrow to see some.  (and tomorrow I’ll put some here too!)

Happy July to Alisyn!

It is good to see you back on the job this morning!!!!!!!!!!

Wesley Clark let his ego overload his a$$. I listened to his Sunday fubar a couple of times and it was clear to me that he was trying to sell himself as the guy that would be more than happy to drop a bomb.

The 80’s thing is fun this week and brings back a bunch of memories. I found a few pictures of the long haired me back in those days. My hair was all one color too! lol Where do I send them?

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Can’t wait to see the pics! Just click on that box in the top right corner of your screen that says “Hit Us with Your Best Shot”.

I cannot wait see those pictures Alisyn I bet there was quite a few Fox News refused to let you show on the air. I spent the eighties…in Law Enforcement trying to keep little cuties like you out of trouble. Believe me no one was more bland than me in the eighties. Never was trendy…never will be. I would have love to have seen you operate in those days and no you would not have gotten by me plenty tried and failed.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

I’m sure you were a credit to your profession pogger, though a few law enforcement agents did let me slip through their supervision.

Comment by Laurie

Good morning Alisyn.

I am a product of the 80’s myself and I think it was the best time. The music was awsome and I too liked many of the bands you addressed. Mainly I think the guys in most of the bands back then were alot better looking than most today. I loved the hair, lots of hair and the tight pants they would wear. Aaaahhh!!! I can go on forever about that. We would go to concerts quite often and on the way home we would blast the music. Those were the days.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

We were probably at some of the same concerts!

Good morning and welcome back. I loved and still do Bon Jovi. Jon really knows how to seduce the audience and has just gotten better with time. Glad he got rid of the big hairl

chas says hi and is happy you are back. He will not have internet access until later this AM. But that decade is NOT his favortie with music. So I save my 80’s stuff for my Ipod or when he is not home…lol. Nothing beats the Beatles for him.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Alisyn a question for you why did newswoman from the 80’s and 90’s wear pantyhose and the ladies of this era donot?…what makes a woman decide to wear them on TV and when not to?…I Know you do sometimes and more than most…Is is not part of the professionalism the we call America or is it that times have changed

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Do you really like pantyhose that much Jay? wait, don’t answer that.

Comment by Jackie

Are those 80’s photos on the website someplace? Will they be? I listen while at work on XM radio and cannot see them, but the reactions are making me want to see them.

Comment by Mike Malone

Good Morning Alisyn,

Nice to have you back this morning. Patti Ann did great filling in for you yesterday but you were missed also.

Alisyn, please tell the ASS people to get their acts together so it isn’t screwed up today and the rest of the week!
Yesterday’s the audio never was on and then it was turned off early part way thru Colin Hay’s performance. It was so screwed up they apparantly didn’t have anything to even post to watch later.
It is frustrating for the fans and disrespectful to the guests that stick around to be on the ASS.
This constant screwing up of the ASS wouldn’t be accepted if it were a segment of the TV show, so why are the powers allowing it to happen to the ASS?

Looking forward to your 80s pics and memories tomorrow morning! :)

Good morning Ms. Alisyn,

It is nice to have you back. And though it has been pointed out already Ms. Audra did do a wonderful job filling in yesterday. She actually became quite chatty. ;) It was nice spending some time with her.

Eileen pretty much hit the 80’s nail on the head for me. Except fo Reagan there wasn’t much I liked about the 80’s. Not the Music escpecially. So no to reprogramming me…lol

Let’s see, if memory serves the Star Trek Movies started coming in the 80’s, so that was a good thing.

In any event, nice to have you back Ms. Alisyn, even if it is only 3 days this week. I hope you and Ms. Audra have a wonderful day.

Hey Allisyn, While I was very young in the 80’s my favorite memories are converse high tops (mine were red) and parachute pants (also red) and my Lionel Rchie tape!! “You are the Sun you are the rain…that makes my life this foolish game…..” It doesn’t get much better than that!!

Oh, and to Jay Ryan, respectfully, …have you ever worn pantyhose…if not, try it and you’ll see why NO ONE wears them anymore!!

Comment by Jim

Did Gretchen show her 80’s pics yesterday? Missed that one. I guess the googled ones of her pageant days will have to do.

The Smurfs. B A Barracus. Tom Wopat as Luke Duke. Those Daisy Dukes - now a fine fashion statement. Mrs. Seaver..(NICE!). The 80’s rocked because TV was much more limited than it is today. We have way too many options and way to many fan clubs.

The best thing about music in the eighties was that all of the oldies stations were playing 50’s and 60’s music. Even though us old farts are dying out you can still hear that music on the radio.
