Alisyn in the Greenroom

Open Blog Friday

Hey everyone–I’m on from 7-9 today but I will try to blog throughout the show. Here are some topics to discuss this morning:

-What do you think of the reported teen pregnancy pact in Gloucester, Massachusetts in which dozens of teenage girls actually tried to get pregnant.?

-If you haven’t heard much about the Countrywide mortgage scandal, you’re not alone.  Much of the media is ignoring it.  So is this story an outrage or business as usual?

-And do you have a favorite website?  Any site you find particularly cool or helpful? (nothing x-rated please!) At 8:30 I’ll post my favorite one here.

Teen pregnancy thing is just crazy! These girls don’t have a clue what they have gotten themselves into for the rest of their lives! Where were their parents while all this messing around was going on?

Business as usual for two-faced Democrats promising anything and everything to the little people while they rip them off left and right!

Your blog, chas’ blog and a local news station website get most of my internet attention. Other than those I just google topics or stories that interest me.

I am so burdened by the story of the HS girls all wanting to be pregnant. But as I watch the news, and the glamorization of teenagers such as Jamie Lyn Spears, I am not surprised. Your show, although conservative in some ways, has talked about her incessantly and made it sound very fun and exciting. Please tell my 3 teenage (and soon to be teenage) girls the truth…that Jamie Lyn’s life will never be the same, and that her baby will never have a stable life with a mature mother and father.

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Wait a minute…I don’t remember us ever making it sound fun and exciting.

Happy Birthday Alysin, again!!!! I am really sorry I have to go to work today..:(:( Being impatient as usual, I commented on yesterdays, this a.m., but will say again..it is my grandson’s birthday also, as well as Pat’s, a fellow blogger here, so the day is covered over with wonderful people having birthdays. My grandson was born on father’s day that year, and when we went to the hospital to see the new babe, my son gently handed him to his dad, and said….happy father’s day dad….still makes me a bit teary eyed, but makes me smile big too. lol Have a wonderful time!!! lol

Good Morning Ms. Alisyn,

Happy Birthday to you and Ms. Gretchen. Also, sorry for being a day late, but Happy Birthday to Nathaniel. I hope e had a wonderful Birthday. :)

This pregnancy thing is very disturbing. What are these kids thinking? Well obviously they are not thinking. The parents must not be telling these kids anything about sex and the results.

I can see that this liberal idea of early sex education is really working out well….NOT

Enjoy your Birthday tomorrow Ms. Alisyn and enjoy the weekend. You still don’t look a day over 25. :)

Alysin,

Hummm…pregnancies continue, out of wedlock. I guess all that handing out of tools to prevent , just cost a load of money, but didn’t solve the problem? And we are not surprised are we? No, I don’t think so.
They should investigate the country wide situation of course, as they investigate anything that is smacking of dishonesty? Yes, I think so. But, we will see, won’t we, if they meant what they said when elected. Nancy isn’t “grinning” today, betcha. Probably still chewing however!!!

18 Pregenant High-School Girl Story

I’m very dissapointed that you let that women off the hook who was doing the report in Mass. this morning when she went right down the liberal line of…..The school is catholic and they do not allow the children to obtain conctraceptives without parental consent…..The official was going right down the same line and your filed reporter came back on again to support the idea….

I’ve never seen such bunk in my life….It’s fine to allow these fools to speak their mind on your show but for the three of you to sit there and let them get away with it is shameful…

I love you show, my wife and I watch almost every work day morning, but my stomach turned watching you guys not follow-up appropiately knocking these pathetic libera “talking” type points back in there faces….Your Mass. field reporter should never be allow to tell the new again unless it’s on NBC, because she’s part of the problem not the solutions for a sane America….

I have to turn the show off now, go to work, and make money, to pay taxs, for childrens contraceptives now…..Please don’t miss holding the line next time…..Everyone makes mistakes…..

(P.S. – You started to go down the correct path, but your hole team dropped the ball – The right path is personnel responsibility and parental responsibility….please don’t encourage schools to take over any more parenting roles….Schools are full of ill equiped…ill minded “professionals”, I used to teach 5th grade because I thought I could make a difference, but left the field for several reasons…One of the main reasons being I couldn’t belive the poor excuses/systems we have in place in our schools.

Tom

Comment by Alisyn Camerota

Huh? Our “hole team”? I did ask our reporter a follow up question about the school’s line of reasoning. Just cause you don’t like the answer, doesn’t mean we didn’t ask the question.

Good morning Alisyn happy birthday,

I am a huge fan of the fox news show I watch it every morning before I go to work.

I have a concern about this pregnancy thats going on over in mass. I strongly agree with your comment about the media but as you said where are the parents in all of this and why didnt the teachers notifiy anyone regarding this matter before these girls attempted to continue taking pregnancy test.
Thats just my opinion.

Also this issuse regarding off shore drilling.. Give me a break.. Now I’m a republican and I’m all for bringing the prices of gas down from the 4 and 5 dollar range but i have to ask myself why so they want to start another off shore drilling whats going on with our own U.S reservation oil tankers that we have off shore that the government doesnt want to use. Why aren”t we accessing these resources in the mean time. Where are our accross seas oil that we decided to take over with force from these third world countries?? I ‘m beginning think that the prices on oil for gas is just another hike for some politians in office to gain more money in their pockect.. but thats just my opinion.. whats the world coming to??

Good morning Alisyn and happy Friday.

As for the pregnancy issue, I find it very disturbing that these kids feel it is okay to have mass pregnancies. I hate to see what the welfare rate will be in later years if something isn’t done about getting these kids/teens to understand what they are doing or trying to do is not only immoral but dangerous to the babies, themselves and this country.

As for the Countrywide situation, I have to say that it is a scandal being covered up by not only the politicians involved but by the main stream media. Senator Dodd is one of my senators and I am not very proud of that fact. It is not fair that these politicians get away with these types of things when the average everyday person would be dragged through the mud. Its scary to me that these are the people who create our laws but feel above them.

I have more than one favorate website, but FOX NEWS is my NUMBER ONE.

Have a great day Alisyn and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Jean Black

Happy Birthday Alysin!

Countrywide – of course it should be investigated. Naturally the democrats want to sweep this under the carpet to get Obama elected – but Dode and Conrad should step down from the Finance Banking Committee for taking sweetheart deals – if they didn’t know they were taking payoffs they shouldn’t be senators!!!!! We need to get rid of these cheaters infecting our senate and house! Don’t pass this bailout on subprime mortgages! Countrywide would get $25 billion – outrageous!!!!

I am 70 and a red blooded American guy. I watch the skirts blow in the wind like all guys. Your ladies are beautiful particularly Shannon Bream. They are smart and my wife and I do not watch any other news show. But we think you are losing a little respect because of how high the ladies skirts drift when they are sitting. In fact they usually hike them up a little as they sit down. Everybody knows the ladies are shapely; we think they do not have to show so much flesh to retain your male and younger audience. On the contrary we think you would gain more respect from everyone for being more tasteful on the air. Lately we have heard some take Fox to task for your ladies’ “sexy” dress and sitting poses. I am writing today because we like the dress and thigh cover up of Alisyn today on her birthday. Happy Birthday.

Happy B-Day Ali,

Teen age pregnancy issue is sad but nothing new. Another indicator of lack of parental involvement and societal degradation.

Great coverage of the Countrywide issue and media avoidance of further investigation into the role leading Democrats (or is it Dimocrats).

The pipe laying jokes were sophmoric and the Porcelain Doll Goddess (Patti Ann) seemed uncomfortable, but was a trooper (She is so sexy).

Happy Friday all.

Peace Out

I’m curious of a couple of things, it would seem to me the past few months Fox has gotten a touch liberal, or maybe just backed off the real common sense questions and answers.
Example, such a big deal was made of all those people in Texas who had all those teenage marriage and pregnancies, in the cult group. But not once mentioned or compared those inner city places where underage teens are pregnant and abused in the same light.

Now, such a report on a pact made by some ignorant girls, and not report on the cause for such an idiotic idea?

Could it be? Possibly that, surely it can’t be? That Fox is going down the “making it’s news” path? I surely hope not.

Take care, Have a great day………….

Usually parents are upset when schools hand out contraceptives without their permission. But those parents wish that all their daughters had wanted was some contraceptives.

The boys that fathered the babies should not be let off the hook either. They have a responsibility too. Men should always consider that any time they have sex it is possible the woman pregnant may end up pregnant. It takes two!

Happy Birthday Alisyn!!! 29 looks so good on you! A year goes by and I get older, but you only get more beautiful!

Your reporter on scene made a statement that the school (Gloucester) could only accomodate 7 kids for daycare.

I think the school system should accomodate no one.

The pregnant girls need to leave school to care for the babies they wanted. The “fathers” need to leave school to support there new families.

Both “parents” can take turns finishing there education if they choose by alternating day or night classes ie: the father can work days and take classes at night and the mother can do the opposite.

But one of them needs to care for the infant at all times.

We make things too easy for people and the situation gets worse. By forcing these young parents to BE parents and not breeders they may think twice.

Comment by Laura

The pregnancy pact story is disturbing. The first thing that came to my mind was the movie Juno. I did not see this movie, but overheard a group of young girls talking about it, saying the movie made them want to have a baby. (I chose not to allow my 11 year old daughter to see the movie after reading the reviews at pluggeninonline.com).

As far as the school policy of not handing out contriceptives; these girls made a pact to get pregnant, not prevent pregnancy by using contriceptives! Perhaps the school nurse should have notified officials, then parents when it was noticed that these girls were distraught about their pregnancy tests being negative! That should have been a red flag since most teenage girls in that situation would be elated by negative pregnancy test results.

I’ve worked in an oil related business for 17 years, We do leasing and title work. Some of the leasing is offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. The interview with the TX rep…he left something out regarding oil co’s. holding leases in US waters/onshore and not developing. We can thank our gov and its bonehead regulators. When an oil co submits a plan to drill and the enviros don’t like the plan or the gov has a problem, they refuse to let the oil co explore/drill. And yet the oil co’s pay for their leases every year. Usually leases run 5 years and they can be extended. However, the gov collects the lease payments and yet in some cases refuse to let the exploration take place because of regs and red tape. So who’s making the money? Our gov. Who might be losing money? The oil cos. I’m not saying the oil cos are lilly white. But more needs to be said about what the gov takes in on these non-productive leases. I can tell you that a field that looks good, the oil co’s pay huge leasing fees. There are other things I’ll write to you later. It’s an interesting subject. What’s more interesting and very aggravating are the dems who just leave that little extra piece of news out. Convenient,

Happy Birthday to you and Gretchen. You wear more modest pretty clothes.

Comment by Debbie Watson

Dear Friends,

I sent several e-mails this morning about the teenage pregancy story to friends@foxnews.com. The CDC reports the birth statistics and the numbers are shocking. 50% of all babies born to women ages 20-24 are unwed, over 35% of all babies born are to unwed mothers. Look at table number 7 for unwed mothers on the website.

This story opens the opportunity to make a change, not just report a story for a couple of days.

Alisyn:

Teen Pregs:

Why is this all about the school, we leave too much in the hands of “school officials” Where are the parents on this??? One would think that these parents know each other since their kids are such good friends. It would seem to be a big breakdown of parental knowledge, involvement and control of their kids high school experience. The parents have ALSO left too much up to the school.

Happy Birthday Alisyn!!

By the way Larry, try reading the Constitution. It’ll amaze you. On the other hand, I’ve been wondering if Schwartzeneger could be VP.

Really disappointed in the girls getting pregnant. Where are the parents here? Seems like someone missed a conversation about the birds and the bees.

Let’s be careful we aren’t blaming the whole crisis on Companywide. Our politicians are not looking out for us. Taking these huge benefits on their own mortgages is an indication. Not doing the things that will actually help the gas price situation is another example. Wake up America. This kind of corruption is the reason our ancesters left Europe.

Comment by Karen

Happy Birthday Alisyn!

Alisyn, I can’t tell you how many teenage girls I have seen get pregnant who think it’s a great thing. In addtion, part of the problem is the response from the parents (especially the teen’s mother) who gets just as excited because she’s having her “first grandchild”! So there’s absolutely no discussion regarding options like adoption. They starting planning the baby showers and parties….to them it’s just fun.

A friend of mine has a daughter who got pregnant at age 14! Did you hear that I said 14! Anyway that was 11 years ago, and of course she wasn’t ready to have a child, she had no clue. Anyway the mom, ( my friend ) let her marry the father who by the was 18 at the time, and they lived with her. Of course she was the designated baby sitter. OK so she drops out of school, they get divorced, she thinks it’s time she makes up for her lost chilhood years of growing up, gets involved with drugs, loses custody of her son, who is now 11. She still is acting like she’s a teenager at 25 yrs of age. She is fotunately off the drugs but cannot get back custody. Has no education, can’t get a decent job, so she’s a stripper in some dump bar, and consistently misses her weekend with her son because she would rather party with friends. Sad all the way around. I feel so bad for this 11 year old boy who doesn’t understand why his mother can’t and won’t make time for him. Why his father won’t let him see his grandmother ( her mom ) I guess he thinks she will try and get custody. She would if she could. She loves that little boy like crazy and both parents are not mature enough to have a son. So sad. These girls who all decided it would be fun have a big suprise coming to them. Not only will they have lost their own childhood, their child will have difficulties for a long time. I ley my 17 yr old daughter get a puppy last year to teach her responsibility, ha, guess who takes care of our new dog? Me, but I don’t mind, because of course there is a huge difference there, but just proves teenagers cannot and should not have to be responsible to raise a child! So theres my 2 cents! It is a real shame and I wonder what and if these parents of the girls ever talked to them about this before this happened???

Wow, what a cautionary tale. Thank you for sharing it Shelly

Teen Pregnancy Pact: A crying shame all around. But what do you expect when pop culture glamourizes these young famous-for-nothing celebrities and their ‘baby bumps’. Those baby bumps aren’t merely the accessory du jour — they’re real live human beings who will require real time and real money to raise. Jamie Lynn Spears will no doubt get millions for baby pictures and interviews, and she can hire an army of personal trainers and an army of childcare providers and she won’t be wondering where the next dime will come from in order to feed, clothe and shelter her baby. And where are the parents?? Who’s home minding these kids-who-are-having-kids? Tragic.

Countrywide: Both an outrage and business as usual. Outrageous corruption and greed are business as usual these days.

Favorite websites: buffettnews and makeupalley, with the usual before and afters. The first is for fun and the second is actually helpful — it’s a consumer review board for all your favorite girly-girl items.

Comment by Kevin

Why do your reports on the Pregnancy Pact refer to the “…heavy Catholic influence” that is present in Gloucester, MA? Have any of these girls been identified as practicing Catholics? How is your reporting on this any different from when the liberal media describes a crime as having been committed by a “former altar boy”?

Happy Birthday Alisyn and Gretchen, and good morning everyone,
This is why I like Fox News over any other,
because of News like this, the countrywide mortgage scandal, that has involvement with Obama supporters and the MSM is not covering this story yet, but sooner or later they have to.

Alisyn,
I just listened to your segment about the teen pregnancies in Gloucester, MA with the Psychologist.
I was terribly disappointed when you defended the parents because of their economic condition.
Good parenting should not be impacted by economic conditions – these are basic values that should be instilled into their children’s developing minds.
Why isn’t anybody addressing the lives that these babies will be enduring with these extremely young mothers – For goodness sakes, these yojng girls with their young babies are in for a very difficult time.
Babies should be happy and smiling not sad!!!!!!

Defended? Or asked a question, as is my role as interviewer? Does anybody have a dictionary handy for Thomas?

Good morning and Happy Birthday to you, Gretchen and Nathaniel !!

As for the teen pregnancy pact, why is this considered to be headline news? Aren’t there more urgent things going on in the world? These girls don’t have ANY idea of what they are getting themselves into, but I think that the excessive media coverage may lead to other teenage girls doing the same thing. Unfortunately, with so many 24/7 news channels, there are a lot of stories that make it to the air that wouldn’t have when I was a kid many years ago watching the 6:00 and 11:00 news broadcasts! Ah, the good old days………..and I’m talking the 70’s, not the 50’s!

Make it a great weekend !

Alison you got it wrong again, Glucester the town these kids come from is not a poor down trodden place but a rich expensive loads of money town.

I cannot believe you based your view on a movie like the perfect strom

Keep government and Rivera out of things like teen pregnancy issues. Have yet to see were either has helped much of anything! We are all responsible and held accountable to do our job well or…… Why not hold parents responsible for the most important job – parenting? This job impacts our families, society and country, not to mention in todays small world, the world. Bye

Alisyn likes her shopping the same as I like my women… fast and cheap! LOL

(It is a joke!)

Alisyn you should have done the shopping story last week so we all would have known to where to shop for your b’day gifts. :)

Comment by Patrice

Glucester is not poor, lots of single families like you said.
It is a very upperty rich town.
The problem is not about money but how parents expecially in Massachusetts treat their children.
They both work, are too tired to spend time with their children and also believe like many in these liberal rich money laden towns is that children should be allowed to find themselves, they should not be told what to do as they will find out who they are.
Of course when they do this they produce children who are making stupid decisions.

Comment by Liz K

Yea, Laura V! I thought maybe I was the only one who wondered who at FOX decided that Geraldo was the resident expert on every subject. I, too, find something else to do during his Friday appearances.

Comment by Mike Malone

Mike,

I am sure they have based their reporting on the reports from those in the city. I am sure like all towns there are at least parts that are wealthy and parts that are on hard times.

Comment by Larry from Georgia

These girls are the product of their upbringing. There is no such reason to blame unmoral behavior to Brittney, Jamie Lynn, or the tv media. My Mom and Dad were not at home because they worked all day, and neither did we have lots of money. However, Mom and Dad made sure that we kids lived a life that showed respect for other, and were punished for making bad choices. Even when I was in High School, Mom and Dad still made the decisions. Those parents have decided not to take responsibility.

Comment by Mat

two facts
nothing to do with money
The town of Gloucester is not poor or down trodden.

Problem stems from parents who have this liberal view and think that kids need to be left along and as all these shrinks says”find there way”

Thank goodness I moved south with my family out of that state

Hi Alisyn,
Happy Birthday!

In Claremore, OK, population 20,000ish, we’ve had the same teen pregnancy epidemic throughout the high school and jr high school.

My favorite website right now is http://www.hobbway.com – great for auctioning hobby items, specifically longaberger baskets, comic books and star wars items.

Happy Birthday Ladies

Such a shame about planned teenage pregnancy. It is especially hurtful for those of us who have struggled with infertility and pregnancy loss throughout most of our life.

Favorite websites. Hmm, Facebook, WEBMD pregnancy after loss message board (those ladies helped me keep my sanity throughout my pregnancy, MSN Pregnancy after loss grad board, we have kept our community together and I go there for support in parenting, toddlers (ugh, any tips?) and overall support. Also EBAY is a winner!!!!

Glad to see that some agree with me that Geraldo is not the answer man. You could use that time each week for something better. Instead of Geraldo, maybe have a “Stupid Time” on the couch, and invite someone who favors making the United States a part of Mexico, doing away with security of our Nation, inviting all terrorist to a National convention, provide lawyers for all terrorist at tax payers expense, and select MSNBC as our National news media. I’d get about as much from that as I do from Geraldo.

I have to agree with the not-so-subtle anti-Catholic undertones creeping into the reporting on this story. First of all, this was a public high school, yes? Just because the town may have a large number of Catholics, or a large number of the girls involved may have come from Catholic families, doesn’t mean the Catholic Church is to blame — the Catholic Church’s teachings on this stuff are pretty darned clear. It’s funny how people like Jerry Rivers Geraldo Rivera are shocked, shocked, by this story, but are quick to place the blame on the Catholic Church for the problem — there’s a real disconnect there — it’s like, on the one hand, let’s teach our kids that it’s okay to have sex even if you’re waaay too young to understand the gravity and the consequences of the behavior, and let’s help you and enable you, but pretend we’re concerned for your welfare by giving you contraception, and then, on the other hand, he’s all freaked that this happened and needs to blame anyone other than people who think as he does — I mean, talk about not accepting responsibility for your actions! How hypocritical.

Comment by Nora

Oops — agree with those who mentioned the anti-Catholic undertones…sorry.

Good morning and Happy Birthday to you. Those birthday kisses and hugs from your little ones will be your most treasued gift. I hope you also have some time with your husband for a little celebration. It is hard to get couple time when you have small kids, but it very important to the relationship. Your happy marriage will show your children what they can hope to attain.

I used to live in Massachusetts and visited that beautiful town. Every small town has small pockets of poverty in New England. They try to keep them a secret.

Years ago girls having babies were rewarded with all sorts of financial assistance including apartments, furniture and many other perks. The laws changed and I am not always certain of when or who did it. But there are limits on the number of years one could collect welfare. That put a halt to alot of pregnancies. Girls would often have another baby when the first was was turning 5 to avoid geting a job. These were close in age to my children and I was in shock and awe at them telling me about
their “life plans”.

When you had a second baby, they would buy you all new cribs, etc. No mention was made about using the first ones bought. But happily times have changed.

Life is never ever the same after a baby comes. I am heartbroken for those women who will never have the joy of having a baby. Some schools used to have those programs where they had to carry around some type of electronic baby. It was just like a real one.

The Countrywide loans are an absolute outrage that should be publicized until fully investigated by the IRS, Senate, any other law enforcement agency with appropriate jurisdiction.

It is not anything but a bribery/gift to these Senators- very obvious to anyone who reads about it. At the very least they should be required to pay gift taxes on the money just as anyone who is given a car, etc.

Also, the same investigation and penalties should apply to Barrack Obama’s home lot which he bought far below the market rate. Did he ever pay a gift tax?? I don’t think so.

Please don’t let this issue die. It would be a great issue for Bill O’Reilly to investigate.

Btw, Alisyn, hope you have a great Birthday- great show.

Some really good posts here today! The teen pregnancy story seems to be the major topic of the day. Disturbing, to say the least. I, too, don’t get the correlation between the Catholic Church and the pregnancies. Shouldn’t even have been mentioned. Neither should the economic status of the town. These girls “decided” to get pregnant. They didn’t want contraception–at least 18 of them have ended up with the result they wanted. Blaming the parents isn’t the total answer either. Lots of “good” girls from loving, caring families get pregnant every year–usually not planning to. These pregnancies were planned. That’s why I feel the media plays a big part of this. They look at movies like Juno, they see the Jamie Lynns and the Nicoles who are rich and famous getting pregnant and want to emulate that. (OMG–Dan Quayle was right! Maybe having Murphy Brown become a single mother wasn’t a good role model for young girls after all.) I, too, agree that the young fathers must be held accountable. Many of these cases are probably statutory rape. That’s a whole other can of worms that must be opened from this case.

I watched your talking points the other night and you are close, but you do not have all of the pertinent facts. We are capable TODAY of converting all of the vehicles on the road to flex fuel capabilities. We are also capable of manufacturing 20 billion gallons of ethanol per year without touching the country’s food supply and cutting into our corn flakes. Currently we are only producing 8 billion gallons , so the statement that we are cutting into our food supply and therefore increasing the prices on food is a flat out lie by big oil . If you want to know where I got my info contact me …. this is what I do, I am a researcher and developer of alternative fuels and energy. We can import ethanol from Brazil until we can increase our production of fuel to catch up with the increased usage once the vehicles convert. In your comment you said that it will take us 10 years …. I thought you were smarter than that. We can turn this dependency on oil around in 2 years.
There are other things that can be done, like the use of energy reducing oil additives and lubricants, tested and proven by the Dept. of Energy to increase mileage by 6%. If by utilizing ethanol and the energy reducing additives, we can save our use of oil by 23%, we will be free from foreign oil!
Now, the problem …. for 2 years now we have been pushing, jumping up and down and trying to alert this country as to what was coming, but obviously no one is listening. We are jumping even higher now to congressmen and senators and still no one is listening. We can save ourselves right now. I personally have not purchased any oil based fuel for the past 3 years. I make my own fuel in my own garage and my pollution output is zero as far as greenhouse gases are concerned.
I have noticed since April that you have been following the oil prices and reporting on it and trying to come up with ideas on how to help and I commend you for that. It appears that you are taking up the sword and fighting against our dependency on foreign oil. We NEED YOUR
HELP! With your following in the media and our products to convert to flex fuel, we can be free of the great foreign oil dependency. I have all of the info required …. if you are going to war I have the ammo! I have the battleplan! This can be accomplished TODAY! I have a meeting with the Secretary of DEP of the state of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg on the 23rd of June. I hope that she will forward the information on to Governor Rendell and see where it goes from there Thank you for your time and your commitment to helping our country. Pregnancy Pact….. I have worked with disturbed children since retirement from USMC. Many possible “fit circle elements” come to mind that promote such a pact. I would love to be able to work with those children and their families to come up with “the fits”. School’s policy of contraception is irrelevent for sure. One very obvious “driver” regarding sexual behavior are the explicit song lyrics, male and female performers very sexual body movements, TV, Movies, and lack of family units and morals. Fact, not perception or individual opinion. Another possibility to consider regarding parents of young adolescents, the president of the united states cought and proven with adultery, lying, purjury. This was just one proven incident in this totally immoral man. Millions flock after him with total disregard of his absolutly dishonest and immoral history. Do these “types” consider his behavior acceptable and therefore pass it by in child rearing??????????????

Countrywide….. Media passing it by as an issue (present company excluded). Can only mean that it is mostly democratic involvement in the scam aspect. I base that opinion strictly on historic behavior of media bias over the past 40 plus years.

Oil prices….. Let’s get some in-depth coverage of the profiteers dealing in oil futures. They are the ones driving the prices up! Also, would like to know how much foreign aid we provide to Kuwait, Arabia and other OPEC countries that are sticking it to us.

Alisyn,
Teen girls pregnant. And it appears that they were trying to get pregnant! Yet, here is the stuggle/conflict. We don’t want teens to get pregnant, so we offer them birth control (like the pill, or condoms). Tell them to wait until they are older. We say as a community (local and national) we have accepted teens being pregnant (ie: Spears). No, pregnancy is not the problem. We have accepted teens having sex (because as adults we have accepted sex for any reason-premarital, infidelity, you name it). And when that is the standard – pregnancy, std’s, broken relationships, fatherless children, non-commitment in relationships, emotional scarring – are the outcomes! Give me all the excuses, reasons why we don’t promote abstinence until marriage at all levels of society (won’t work, teens can’t control themselves, etc). If we do not decide to tackle the BEHAVIOR the outcomes will continue such as these.

In regards to the teen pregnancies in MA, when are we going to start holding parents responsibele for teaching their children right and wrong. I send my children to school to learn reading, math, science, history etc… I do not expect schools to teach my child my morals and my beliefs in regards to sex education. It really should not matter what the families income is or is not. It should and is about taking responsibility for your own children and stop blaming everyone else and expecting everyone else to raise your children. I get so tired of hearing about the negative impacts of T.V., music and other media outlets. If it is not what you want your children to hear or watch do not allow them to do so. Stop blaming and take responsibility..

Happy Birthday Alisyn!!!

OH MY GOSH!!! I am soooo sick and tired of all this “pontificating” about the teen girls who are now pregnant We have had more “SEX ED” in our schools since the 1980’s than for any generation in the history of the modern culture. The HALLMARK (and I am NOT exagerating!) of our “COMPREHENSIVE SEX EDUCATION culture since the 80’s has been to KEEP PARENT OUT OF THE DISCUSSION. The wonderful state of MA has been on the FRONT LINES of Liberal Sex Education since its conception, parading into classrooms “Sex Experts” who bring the condoms and banana’s, cervical caps and business cards for Planned Parenthood, all the while telling the students that there parent’s are old fashioned and don’t “understand” the pressures that they are going through and that they are free to come to their clinic any time they want for all the pills and creams and latex they might desire without their parents EVER EVEN KNOWING!! Even good parents, who are trying to teach their children right from wrong, are being ridiculed and looked down upon by the EDUCATED ELITE for even THINKING for half a second that they could teach their children to say “NO” to the pressure of early sex and that “GOOD PARENTS” give their children condoms before they leave for school in the morning. And FINALLY, when a SMALL AMOUNT of governement funding is given to programs that promote Abstinence and saying NO to sex as a teenager and waiting for the maturity necessary to make such life-changing choices, programs that ALWAYS INVOLVE PARENTS to the best of their ability, whose homework and take home projects insist that the FAMILY be involved in the discussion, the State of Massuchessets and others (including California, Maine, Vermont and even my home state of Minnesota) refuse the funding and programs and then the same liberal media launch a campaign saying that this education doesn’t work!! WHAT???? You mean all these pregnant teens had involved parents, high self-esteem and were practicing assertive behavior and most of all abstaining???? INSANITY!!! Anyone recall the argument about wether a middle school in MAINE should be passing out birthcontrol to 11 year old girls WITHOUT PARENTS KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT??? Hmmmmm…. it seems that we have collectively lost our minds!!

I think its disgusting what those teenage girls did, making a secret pact to sleep around with any stranger just so they get pregnant. It shows you how our world and society is changing, where old fashioned traditions are being lost, and liberal open mindeness is taking over. But more importantly, the parents of these girls need to be blamed and held accountable. They probably didnt teach them abstinence training, or right from wrong. I also think the school is partly to blame, the principal there should be reprimanded and fired immediately. Plus i dont think the sex education at that school has taught those young girls anything. It probably went in one ear and out the other. Remember a while back, a school was giving 6th graders condoms and contraceptives to help them learn about sex? Obviously the liberal way of thinking there isnt going to work.

Another perfect example is that Florida girlfight beating. I hear a lot of ppl blaming these social networking sites and internet, but it all starts with the parents, which are probably having a bad influence over them. Just look at the ringleader girls mother, i recall an interview where she was still in denial that her daughter was even involved in those horrible beatings. I sure hope justice will be served for that victim.

Comment by Deb

When the movie, Juno came out I was concerned as I beleived young teens could easily relate to this witty young girl who seemed to think pregnancy was no big deal and that adoption was no big woop either. Ask any mother who surrendered a child for adoption, 20 years later if it was no big woop and you will be shocked by the response. Ask any adopted child if they feel abandoned or not, and listen to them. Most adoptees do not want to feel ungrateful to their adoptive parents and will bury these feelings.
Having a child is one big woop that changes your life forever whether you were the child that was kept by a teenage mother, a child surrendered for adoption or you were that surrendering mother that though you were now some kind of hero. Movies like Juno and the behavior of others in Hollywood are sending the wrong message to our children. If teenagers can not or will not abstain, then contraceptives should be offered. I know if this case in Gloucester the girls wanted neither, but I will believe that the movie Juno was a gigantic influence on them. Every time I seet this movie touted as the greatest, I just want to scream. Love to see a movie about Juno though, 30 years later to see if she is the same kind of perky devil may care soul. You should all read “the girls who went away” by Susan Fessler to see how those surrendering moms are now doing. Not so good and neither are their children lost to adoption

Deb, I often wonder if those Hallmark Movie of the Week type movies about adoption, such as Juno, are written by adoptive mothers or by people who have a vested interest in the adoption industry. Again, just more Hollywood glamourization of a multi-faceted, complicated subject, much of which isn’t happy or cheery or uplifting at all. Women like Angelina Jolie and Madonna, who prefer to buy their babies from impoverished women overseas (rather than spend their millions making sure these poorest of the poor get to keep their only treasures), don’t help, either.

Teen pregnancy is not a good thing. Some of these girls may experience dangerous complications or may be psychologically traumatized by the realities of childbearing and childbirthing. Some may be carrying babies with genetic anomolies or who will in some way require expensive, full-time, chronic care. Seems like some of them don’t even really know much about the father, so who knows if a complete medical history will even be available for these children.

The usual liberal crowd will think all this is terribly reactionary, but the reality is that marriage first, sex second, baby third wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

So many broken people, so many lives turned upside down, and a heap of troubles waiting for these babies once they’re born. It truly is heartbreaking.

I was a bit taken aback by your comments about Gloucester MA and the teen pregnancies. Aside from the obvious reaction most folks have of shock and disbelief. It’s true, Gloucester has long been a fishing city with mostly working class people. The city also has a lot of wealth, it has unbelievably beautiful beaches, inns, restaurants and theater. To say you only have to see the movie, “The Secret Storm” to understand the people and the “poor” enviornment creates a limited view of Gloucester. It might also imply that poor people arn’t the best parents or produce children that are easily mislead and desparate to go to such extremes.

Happy Birthday Alisyn!!! I personally am not shocked by the pregnancy thing, my son’s class had so many with children that I am no longer shocked by it. The only thing that would shock me if my son had a child, well God help him then. He is just a child himself. He knows what we think and expect.

My favorite site would have to be my blog! Or my breast cancer support site called No Surrender.

Mortgage scandal. I believe this is business as usual, and the greedy, egotisical brass at the crest of the finanicial market involving housing made an unfathomable amount of money while they almost single handedly brought the economy to a halt with the assist of investors. I’m sure there is more to this story than we know. Now, they probably want to be bailed out by the usual innocent bystanders (the taxpayers). That’s a good question. Why don’t we se more in the news with regards to mortgage industry as we did during the savings and loan debacle many years ago? I believe the top brass should return the commisions they made on all the foreclosures. Of course, this is only my opinion.

P.S. I didn’t know. Belated Happy Birthday to you.

i hope you had an AWESOME birthday! the pact that those girls is redunkulous! i still dont understand why they wanted to get preggors just because. i dont think they even have an ethical answer for doing that. but anyways, my favorite website is amazon.com although i spend a lot of time on my school’s website. HEY, you should come talk at my school as a guest speaker!!

Alisyn you are the most refreshing person on TV. I thoroughly enjoy you. Your husband has to be the luckiest man alive and you can tell him I said that! I also get a kick out of Steve. All of you have great chemistry. But, I don’t like to turn on Fox and Friends and you not be on that day. However,I do realize you need your time off.

I would like to share my thoughts on the pregnancy pact and address a comment left by Brad. I am appalled to hear of this news and wonder what these girls were honestly thinking. I had heard, from another source, that one explanation given for their actions was so that they could have someone to unconditionally love them. I don’t want to point fingers but have to ask, where were the parents when their children were looking for someone to unconditionally love them? More importantly, where were the parents when they were supposed to be teaching their children how to unconditionally love themselves? Mass media should not be given all the blame but I think that parents let their kids watch it entirely too much. Who needs to communicate with kids, nowadays, when you’ve got a shiny boob tube to do it for you? If anything, parents are to blame for letting their children become brainwashed by main stream society.

Brad. I see no reason for you to attack liberals. Perhaps we should address abstinence-only programs and discuss how that’s doing wonders for teen pregnancy.

Allison — love F and F!! Look forward to it every day. But… what is that annoying ?drum beat? that accompanies your news? It is irritating and seems to distract from the purpose of delivering salient information. Any chance of evaluating the value of the background “noise?” Thanks. Peg

As always these teen are going to learn the hard way and will probably wind up saying “Gee why did I get pregnant, the party is over now and I’ve barely begun to live my life………..sigh”

I believe you are getting better as an attack dog whenthe topiccomes to oil and you are told it will take ten years to get oil returns from off shore drilling. Keep up the attack.

Why didn’t Michelle Obama make a separate contribution of $2300 to pay help pay off Hillary Cinton’s campaign debt?

$2300 total for a couple that made millions of dollars last year is a very meager symbolic gesture. Michelle herself had a salary in excess of $300,000 per year.

Has anyone look at the subject of the girls getting pregnant from the position of teens trying to financially help their low-income families bring in more income ?? I know it sounds odd, but remember , this is not a large city mentality, it is small town survival. katherine wheeler , newport n.h.
