Open Blog Friday
Good morning Everyone!
I’d like to hear your thoughts on Jane Novak(pictured below), the stay-at-home, mother-of-two in suburban New Jersey, who innocently started a blog and became an enemy of the state in Yemen. She took up the cause of a Yemeni journalist named Al-Khaiwani who was critical of his government and may be sentenced to death this coming Monday. You can check out Jane’s blog here!

And what do you think of the lawsuit by the woman (pictured below) who was squashed at a Mets game when a 300-lb drunk guy fell on her and broke her back. She’s suing the beer vendor, the Mets and the unknown guy who was ushered out of the game by security and disappeared. How much money do you think she’s owed?
And One Big P.S. — I’ve now had a chance to read your many many thoughtful (and many vitriolic or insulting) comments on our Conferate flag debate yesterday. (I’ve never seen so many comments awaiting me at 5am). I want you to know how much you’ve helped me understand how differently this issue is seen in different parts of the country. Clearly the flag means something very different in the South than what it has come to represent to many in the North. Your points are well taken. And for those of you who object to our grasp of Civil War history, our segment was not about that. It was about the legal rights ON BOTH SIDES of displaying an image that some find objectionable. We consistently made the point that the law was on Mr. Lambert’s side. For those of you who believed there was an unfair allotment of time: the NAACP President’s time was divided with the judge who was providing the legal analysis. So, we weren’t dividing the topic in two but rather three — adjust your stopwatches accordingly.

Alysin,
And the new page is up just in time for me to abama for work. Just my luck as always it would seem.
The lady who got fallen upon by the drunk fan? Well…I might have been watching for that and prepared to not be near him at all if possible? Not anyone’s fault…just one of those things that happen…broken leg? Well, I am sympathetic about that for sure.
Enemy of the state of Yemen? Hummm….don’t know, but why does she care. Is she going to Yemen anytime soon? Missed part of the story…but interesting for sure. lol As it came on I had to take care of the grandpa, who just got up! The duties of, that are never ending, but executed happily. lol
Aly, thanks for moving 2 steps to your left during your big picture segments. How about 1 step back for the shoes to show. woohoo. Looking good as always and living up to the “FOX” tradition.
Laura Ingraham rocks too. You girls better watch out, she read the prompter pretty well. She’s a new mom though so I don’t see her abandoning her radio career for the crazy life of full time TV.
TGIF.
Good morning Ms. Alisyn,
You are welcome. This is a nice place and I for one want to srr it remains that way in any small way that I can help.
Ms. Novak is a special person. Though luck often plays a part in life she has taken an opportunity and run with it in an effort to aid others.
She should receive some special notice from the Administration for her courage and the inspiration she provides to those people.
And the lady at the Mets game. I feel badly for her, but I don’t believe in those types of law suits.
Enjoy your weekend Ms. Alisyn. And I like how Ms. Audra is helping out with the blog. Seems like she is working out ok.
chas
Good Morning!
No, no, no…the ball park is NOT responsible for her injuries – BUT the man who fell IS. The ball parks mistake was no keeping him for arrest. People need to be responsible for and take responsiblity for their own actions.
Where’s Man Cow?
I feel really bad for the woman who is suing the unknown drunk guy, the Mets and the beer vendor. I’m not sure suing the Mets for this unfortunate accident is right. I can agree with suing this drunken guy and possibly the vendor. I believe that the vendor should be held responsible because they are the ones selling the beer, just like a bar would be responsible for selling booze to their customers. I also believe if she can find out who that drunken person was they should be held extremely responsible, because it was their own actions by drinking the beer and getting drunk that created such an awful accident. As for the Mets, I would say whoever owns the stadium should be held responsible too, because they allowed the vendor to sell the beer in their stadium.
Morning Alisyn and Audra!
Ms.(Mrs.?) Novak’s wonderful cause has unfortunately caused her problems. Because we assume there are terrorists cells all over America…perhaps she should fear for her own safety. But I applaud her efforts.
As for the ball park incident, I certainly feel that she is due compensation.
Aly, How about you mention one name from the blog during your big picture segment? Work it in as a shout out or something of that nature.
Great interview in the Greenroom Alisyn…A woman sitting at her computer, watching her children has been able to influence events thousands of miles away. She is a woman of rare dedication and ability. Too few of us today accept limitations set by others and refuse to become involved in events outside of our small limited circle of friends and family. Hopefully she will act as an inspiration for others.
Btw you look fantastic this morning…you are the reason so many of us watch Fox and Friends in the morning. I know your my reason for sitting in front of the television and refusing to do anything until after seven PM.
Thank goodness, during the latest promo for the RFK story, the pictures of JFK weren’t shown as happened earlier. I’ve noticed that frequently your pictures don’t necessarily match the stories. However, I wondered if in this case, the person selecting the pictures is too young to know the difference between the two brothers!
Really enjoy the show and your blog. It’s always great fun to read the comments.
Waiver statement on the ticket …………..

Deserves nothing..
yemen dislikes jane novak and the United States-
home of the terrorists that blew a hole in the USS Cole-
we’ve had a predator shoot a hellfire missle and kill several know terrorists in yemen-
yemen is a hotbed of jihadists-
the met’s game-if the case gains traction-they will be able to ID the walking and stumbling keg-
just as an aside-the amount of money spent on the primaries is obscene-hundreds of millions of dollars-there has to be a better way to contact the masses-and that amount of money could be
better spent on a multitude of causes-
Sorry too early in the morning sentence should have read “Two many of us accept the limitations set by others and refuse to become involved in events outside our limted circle of friends and family.”

Ali, what state are you a native of? I enjoyed the postings from yesterday about the Southern Heritage flag controversy. Here in Southern WV our ancestors were loyal to Richmond.
Hey Pogger,
Expand your horizons and check out Robin Meade……………………:)
WOW…….
I hear she has a blog. I suggest you check it out, Luis!
I would like to hear what the administration and Congress have done in relation to Jane Novak’s blog and threats against her because of it. Yemen is certainly a problem state in the middle east for not taking a serious fight against the terrorists. They have released and allowed the escape of terrorists that were involved in the bombing of the USS Cole.
If memory serves Usama’s family is from Yemen originally. Al Quada has strong links there also. I would hope that the justice dept has taken seriously the threats to Mrs Novak’s life.
Does she know if members of Congress have taken any notice of the issues she has raised on her blog? As we all know members of Congress are often blissfully ignorant of the things they should be aware of.
The lady that was injured at the Mets game certainly deserves to get some money for her injuries. The Mets certainly have some responsibility in this case. She assumes reasonable risk, but it isn’t reasonable to expect your spine will be broken by a drunk guy falling on you when you go to a ballgame.
I might have missed this during the interview, but from how far above did the guy fall? Surely he must have been more than just in the row of seats behind her.
Anyone got some cool weather they could send down to the Carolinas? We are looking at record setting triple digit heat today! If you all can turn on your A/C and point the fans in our direction to help cool us off it would be appreciated.
Regarding the footage shown yesterday on the person who was hit by a car in Hartford CT. The news was saying that nobody did anything to help the person who was hit, but in fact it was said that there were many 911 calls withing seconds/minutes of that happening. So people do care and tried to help, though I would have liked to have seen someone go out to that person just to stay with them until help came.
I could spare a few degrees Mike, here in MD it’s only going to be in the mid 90’s.
Alysin…
Good morning Marshall. Am obamaed for work and have just a millisecond to say hi to you and everyone b/4 I leave.
I guess she may need security fr our secret service? re: yemen threat…hadn’t even thought to put that spin on the story, but it’s early and brain is not totally awake. lol
No compensation would be my take on the story…except with the man who fell on her? And if he is gone, I guess she is just out of luck…I hope. This is silly. lol re: broken leg..
Luis:
Robin Meade is pretty, nice and all, but come on, She is no Alisyn!! Alisyn is #1!!
(And try showing some class and not be insulting to Alisyn by promoting the competition on Alisyn’s blog.)
Pogger:
I know Alisyn is stunning, and I certainly stop whatever I am doing to watch her. I even get up early just to watch her, but I have to wonder if you are on the opposite side of the world from the US East coast, was it a typo and you meant AM instead of PM, or are you really unable to do anything for 12 hours after F&F1st? LOL
Good Morning Alisyn and Audra: Calling on your phone when you’re standing there looking is not helping. People today just do not want to get involved. It’s sad when you’re watching people witness an accident and they do nothing. You two have a great weekend.
Hey Pogger,
I have no class………and admit it
Just trying to help brother out……………..keep fantasizing, LOL
Wish you would have mentioned that the elephants escaped in WaKeeney, KS because my husband is from there, and believe me, the great elephant escape is probably the most exciting thing that has ever happened there!
Ms. Liz, you would think that an elephant escaping would be BIG news…lol
OK, bad pun, but I couldn’t help myself.
Good Morning Fox and Friends.. On the accident in Conn, where was the Good Samaratian? Does anyone help this person in the video tape? It is ashame we are following Europe’s lead in society: more liberal, less religious, and about to elect one of the most liberal Democratics into office… I hope John McCain picks an outstanding VP to help him create more momentum.
I am over forty Mike and every once in awhile I have senior moment and Luis… Alisyn has been in my dreams since the first time I saw her doing pickup pieces out of Boston for Fox News ten years ago. Alisyn is not only gorgeous, she is intelligent, articulate and I freely admit I adore the woman.
Back at ya, pogger. I appreciate your pearls of wisdom every morning.
The woman injured at the Mets game definitely deserves some compensation for her injuries. The guy that fell on her should have been detained and his name and address should have been put in a report. Security at Shea botched the whole situation. The Stadium and security are fair game to get sued. One might expect to get hit with a ball but not by a 300 pound drunk……
Alisyn,
Clinton would of given McCain a good fight, and even if Obama puts Clinton on the ticket, it doesnt matter now, McCain is the only person you can vote for in november, Obamas anti American associates will bring him down, not McCain or the American people, Obamas racist views and his inexperience, will give the Democratic party a lost like no other lost,
Obama is a Carter like Candidate.
Sal
pogger, if you think those senior moments are bad now, wait until you get to be my age….lol
The Mets should not be held responsible, but the security company that employs the buffoons who escorted the guy away from the stadium, thereby protecting him from prosecution, should be! Is this a company contracted by the Mets? Is the stadium Mets property? Or does it belong to the local gov’t? (Public property)
Ms. Novak is a courageous woman to single-handedly take on radical Islam, even from the comfort of her home. I sincerely hope she continues her fight, and gains the support, and protection of our government! Is there anything we Fox viewers can do to help her???
Thank you so much for having Jane Novak on your show! She is a woman of incredible dedication to the cause of freedom, and her work on behalf of Mr. al-Khaiwani is only a small part of her campaign to help improve civil rights in Yemen. Please join the more than 1300 people who have signed a letter to the Yemeni government protesting their persecution of Mr. al-Khaiwani by clicking here.
Loved your pun, Chas — but, I do have a rather quirky sense of humor.
My thoughts on the blog lady, she has to take responsibility for her own action. It matters NOT that she’s a stay at home mom .. or that she “innocently” began a blog. She crossed the line in her country, she made a free-will choice and it broke their laws, so she has to pay the penalty. Period.
Met’s game ticket holder: money hungry unethical person. Enough said.
P.S. Yesterday was a great debate about the flag. Hopefully some people learned something, including myself. We as Americans have a responsibility to make sure that our kids are learning REAL history, not this watered down garbage that our public schools label as “history”.
Glad I was able to bring a small smile to your face this morning Ms. Liz.
Thanks Allyson for the ‘One Big P.S.’ regarding the Confederate Flag issue on yesterday’s show. Only RACISTS project the flag as HATRED……….there are millions (not only that now live in the south) think otherwise!
Pensacola, FL
GEAUX TIGERS!
It isn’t the beer manufacturer or the Mets’s fault that some stupid drunk who lets a beer bottle control his life fell on the woman. So why bring a suit against the innocent parties, just because they have deep pockets.
This so called deep pocket theory of lawsuits that are destroying our society and our economy came from an federal appellate court decision in the 2nd district of guess where, Yep, that’s right, New York!
Forget the actual refernce to the case, would have to look it up again in an old Auditing textbook from Graduate School but ask the judge!
Whatever happened to personal responsibility?
ON the US Marine (and 5 others) that was cleared in the murder trial of civilians in Hadatha (sp?) it leads one to wonder if Rep Murtha will issue an appology to them after his declaring them murders. I doubt it.
ALISYN;
I SURE DO AGREE WITH YOU ON THE STAR’S AND BAR’S.IT SERVE’S TO BRING OUT A PART OF OUR HISTORY THAT WAS A CANCER,IT IS IN LEAUGE WITH THE SWASTIKA(MY DAD HELPED TO RID
THE WORLD OF THAT TRASH)HE WAS A TRUE HERO.NOW FOR SOME THING SERIOUS THE LADY

ARE RELATED TO THE 300 lb DRUNK’S DAMAGE TO HER.
NOW REALLY SOMETHING SERIOUS DOES THE VICE PRESIDENT’S SPOUSE GET AN OFFICE WITH A STAFF?DOES THIS INCLUDE AN ITERN PROGRAM?HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND YOUR THE SECOND BEST
LOOKING WOMAN I’VE SEEN NEXT TO MY BRIDE OF 41 YEAR’S\42 IN DEC.24th.
I missed the flag debate and it sounds like a real argument went on. As someone who has lived in the South all my life, my take on this flag is this. Many people in the South consider it part of their heritage. Its not meant to be anything divisive, but something held as southern pride. I also understand how it could be offensive to others who may view it as a statement of hate. Personally I think this is a stupide debate. Its a stupid flag and we have so many othr real problems to deal with in this country and should not be spending out energy worrying about a stupid flag.
Re: Mets – I agree with Beth, the 300 lb man SHOULD have been held for arrest!
Loved the piece with Jane Novak. Would love to see her more on FNC!
Interesting… I think I will read Peter’s book on Conservatives vs Liberals… Good segment…
I agree with MyTownTalks…………………Obama & Friends took the easy way out of finding something newsworthy and went for this tired old story instead of delivering something relevant todays events (like why the Beckel bombshell about Michelle “Whitey Video” Obama was pulled)
Gary T takes acception to her sueing anyone, but what should she do? This isn’t a frivolous lawsuit. She was attending a game, and was injured, and is in pain, and facing possible long term medical care. Cracked bones are not imaginary! I still think she should go after the security guy’s employer, who may be a contract company, or the Mets themselves. Surely these men had some training in an injury situation like this. And I’m sure it did not include just escorting this drunken “mugger” to the exit!
I was thrilled to see that Jane Novak got some well-deserved publicity about the plight of the journalist in Yemen. Jane’s blog has really helped Americans to understand the horrible regime in Yemen. I would hope the State Department would take note and pressure the Yemenis to release Al-Khaiwani.
Alisyn,
Nice “big PS” on the flag debate from yesterday. On purely about someone taking objection to another’s speech, I think it was best summed up when someone said that the answer to objectionable speech is not censorship, but more speech.
(I couldn’t find the exact quote or who said it. If anyone knows please post. It is driving me crazy.)
Also I think we as a culture need to have a thicker skin when it comes to being offended. Everyone is too on edge and ready to be offended by everything. By being so easily upset and offended it gives others power over us. We can only control ourselves and if we choose to not be angered by someone else’s comment than we have removed their power over us.
Remember when as children we were taught, ‘Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.”?
Jane Novak rocks! I am so proud of her. Thank you for having her on your show and getting some publicity for this petition for Al-Khaiwani.

Our pleasure c.a. It was great to meet her and hear more about her cause.
Very true Mike, as some one said yesterday “The United States of the Offended”. We use to be better than that.
Sailor Ken is wrong as he states above… It was not the Stars and Bars flag displayed on private property by the gentlemen in Florida … it was the battle flag of the Northern Virginia Army … Stars and Bars is the flag of Jefferson Davis and the Confederate States… Two separate flags!
Go Jane!
You made us all so proud today. But then you do that every day. And thanks, Alisyn, for having Jane on the show and giving the plight of Yemen and Mr. Al-Khaiwani the attention Jane has worked to hard to ensure. She is a great writer and an amazing woman.
It just goes to show that one person dedicated to making a difference in the world can move mountains.
Bummer the lady got hurt at the Mets game. That is life. She needs to get over it and do something positive instead of looking for a free hand out . I go to many MLB games and other sporting events and never had the ticket booth ask me for ID. What makes you all seem to think that the ball park in question has that info?
The guy did not break any laws. I think she is a gold digger of the worse kind.
It bothers me that you people at Fox support her efforts in a law suit.
My View , My Opinion.
Big Mark
Sorry. the comments on the show more then once went to a symbol of hate and given that why do it. Without a perspective to work with the issue can’t be properly discussed, at least in my mind.
The Confederate flag resembled the United States flag, but replaced the “stripes” with 3 “bars”. The flag had 7 stars, one for each state that was part of the confederacy at the time. This flag was dubbed the “Stars and Bars”.
The flag flown by the gentleman in Florida is referred to as the Confederate battle flag, and as the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia. The battle flag would be a blue X on a red field. As a battle flag, the flag would be square. The flag had 13 stars, for the thirteen states in the Confederacy. This flag was first used in battle in December 1861.
In all, around 360,000 Union soldiers died as a direct result of the war. The Confederacy lost 260,000 dead under this flag. A history that should not be forgotten by Americans… or changed by those who feel it represents something that it is not…
Thanks for the ‘PS’. Everyone just calm down! I do think that if my neighbor was flying a flag that I objected to, I would like for him (or her) to consider my beliefs, my morals, and those of the rest of the neighborhood/ community. If it’s universally unpopular there in Florida where he is, then he should reconsider his stand, or face the consequences.
Alisyn,
Thanks for the photo of you and Jane, but let us have the full size version and not just that small one. We don’t get enough photos here on the blog of your wonderful smiling face. We want the full size photo when you do post one.
Did Erik Estrada and Bill Shatner not pose for photos when they were in the greenroom and on the AtSS?
What sane man would pass up the chance to have his photo taken with a woman as lovely as Alisyn?
Hey, wait a minute…they did! Oh Audra…
To the people that feel the lady that was hurt at the Mets game is looking for free money I would ask if you were hurt in a car accident by a drunk driver and found out that the police did not arrest the man but instead escorted him away and refused to help you find out who he is, would you not sue the police dept and by default the local gov’t?
Why does she not have an expectation to recover money for the damages done to her? The security is hired by the Mets. The woman was assaulted and injured by an intoxicated man. Security got the man out of there rather than detain him. The Mets are now refusing to help the woman ID the man that injured her. The Mets have to answer for their actions and the actions of their security people.
Hey Luis – Can’t you find a blog on CNN (Clinton News Network) to hang out in? Might be good for your blood pressure and ours. Frankly I’m tired of 24/7 of Obama/Clinton/McCain et al. I actually learned a lot from the flag debate. And all along, I (like you) thought I knew everything.
“It was about the legal rights ON BOTH SIDES of displaying an image that some find objectionable. We consistently made the point that the law was on Mr. Lambert’s side.”
Right On and beautifully stated..That’s what I understood the debate to be about. Albeit, I didn’t articulate it nearly as well as you in my comment.
But since the topic turned to pride and prejudice, it would have been nice to have some African American’s weigh in on the subject to get their perspective!
Needless to say, there’s a lot of emotion on both sides of this issue and it’ll probably never be solved amicably.
Happy Friday Everyone!
A belated note on the Star and Bars…I am really tired of the polical correctness of EVERYTHING! It’s a flag that was part of history and does not necessarily mean racism by the flag owner. As the gentleman said, the KKK also flew the US Stars and Stripes! So, we need to design a NEW flag for our NEW polically correct society? I don’t think so. There were also blacks, oh, sorry African Americans, that served under that flag, and after looking this up, there are African Americans who are offendedl that there is such a bruha about this subject. Get over it! As long as the individuals don’t physically abuse anyone with the flag, I don’t see the issue here. We have got bigger problems in this Country. Pick your battles!
Way to go Berkins!! As usual, Sailor Ken is one of those to jump up and shout and has no idea of the real facts. Way out in space to compare the Confederate flag to a swastika. Obviously, he is one of those I mentioned yesterday. Sailor Ken might consider doing something he obviously does not do…. take some time to do a little research before he sounds off. Take a look at endentured servants, blatent discrimination in military, treatment of the american indian, treatment of american japaneese, all under the flag of the U.S. Get a grip Sailor Ken and lay off the Confederate flag especially since you don’t have the foggiest idea. Terrible things have been done by one faction to another in the U.S. you need to move on. Let’s just get together and work to make this couontry a better place. If you don’t like my flag, don’t look at it and respect my right to honor it. This bit of advice from a retired Marine with over 26 years of service.
[...] Alisyn’s blog post. She wants to know, “your thoughts on Jane Novak (pictured below), the stay-at-home, [...]
Jane is one of the best blog pilots in the galaxy! I’m proud to call her my friend. She is always very gracious and a very good writer. We love Jane and pray for her success and the life of Al-Khaiwani. Thanks to you for helping get the word out. The publicity really helps Al-Khaiwani cause. Should he be sentenced to death we’ll all be very sad and I especially worry about Jane as she has invested so much of her energy in this.
HI Alisyn, Since you have open Blog Friday why not start DRESS DOWN FRIDAY! It would be nice for the Summer and I think your viewers would enjoy seeing you guy’s/gals in casual dress. I think it would add to the personal touch your show gives. You know, the feeling that you guys are just one of our FRIENDS. Your Blog gives us a chance to have a personal touch to you and the show. And after all who wouldn’t want to see you in a nice pair of Jeans!!!…Hmm!
Take it up in the next staff meeting and get back to me with feedback????
MARK
Alisyn, quick question for you. I noticed you did not have a ring on your finger this morning, does that mean you are getting divorced. You are a great reporter of news, gotta have my Fox & Friends in the morning before heading out for work.
Quick question for you, Geno. What newsworthy topics did we talk about today? Just curious about your keen observation skills.
Thanks so much for having me on Alisyn! I appreciate that you and FOX gave the opportunity to a little blogger like me to talk about some very big issues: civil rights in the Middle East and the many innocent victims of the tyranny in Yemen including al-Khaiwani, the starving children, and the other activists and political opposition that gets targeted by the Yemeni government when they call for reform, democracy and transparency. Thanks again and best regards, Jane
My pleasure Jane! Great to meet you. And please give a call on Monday to let us know what happens with Al-Khaiwani’s sentence.
Thank you for showing the story on Jane Novak. A story of how freedom of speech is a sacred and powerful tool that we are currently fighting a global war to protect. Why are we fighting a global war? Because without freedom of speech nobody would be fighting back!
++++++++++
The woman who was fallen on is NOT owed any money by the beer vendor or the Mets. The man who fell on her is the one to be sued. Personal responsibility is vanishing from this country! Nobody is responsible for my behavior other than me!
Novak’s doing a public service and I commend her for finding something which needed examination and then explaining it to the rest of us. I contribute to things which are quite unrelated, so don’t have time to research in every field, and appreciate some of the things she discovers.
good morning,
i am not familiar with jane novack and her blog, so no comment on that, however the lady on the recieveing end of the 300lb sot should get something. good luck to her, cuz i’m sure the drunk has some lame-brained excuse for falling. certainly couldn’t be the booze. to mike malone in the carolinas, i live in the beautiful foothills of mt. hood oregon and we are having record low temps. in fact they are expecting 3-5 inches of snow at the 5000 ft level. unheard of in june. hope everyone has a gr8 weekend. steve
Thank you.
RE: Jane: She is a real american hearo (no budweiser sarcasm intended whatsoever)
The interview with Jane Novak was great. Jane spoke with fervor and conviction. I feel humbled by what she has accomplished.
The STARS & STRIPS is more than just a flag. She stands for freedom, one nation, under God, all of those who have give some and those who gave all to make the United States of America FREE. The confederate flag did not stand for freedom for all. We stand and fight for freedom for ALL which includes AIR HEADS that think they must fly a confederate flag. He is doing it to hurt people, female, male, black, white those from the north south east and west, free people around the world. There were confederate solders who were honorable and that flag as flown is a disgrace to them. All free people should draw a negative opinion of anyone who uses their free speech in such a way.
The poor lady is only going after the beer company as they are the one with the most money. Drunks have fallen on people before. This time it was a 300lb drunk who should have been remove before they fell on someone…not the beer company’s responsibility. The lady chose to go to the ball park….her choice. The beer company did not send her to the park. The ball park provided the location and should have some insurance……she chose to go as did the drunk. The drunk spent all his money on beer but may have a few dollars left. In my book people and lawyers who do this should get nada and loose the right to go after anyone else!
Alisyn, please pass this on to Steve. He is right when he says it is the parent’s responsibility for their over-weight children but the parent are not doing anything about it so along with the health grade going to the parents a required parent diet training class should be required. You see, many parents cannot set a table let alone educate their children on correct eating habits. They were never taught! How are they going to teach the children what they don’t know. Society must require them to learn so they can educate their children or we must take the responsibility for their fat children when they grow up (and out) without insurance and all kinds of medical problems. This problem will only grow unless something is done now. By tomorrow we will have gained more weight.
Jane is one of my best friends, both on and offline. Her dedication to her cause is steadfast and unwavering. It is both an honor and a privilege to be able to call her my friend.
Jane, your “uncle” is just bursting with pride.
Free al-Khawaini.
Good Afternoon, First time in a long time I’m not on Fox….. Watching the DETROIT RED WINGS PARADE!!!!Great for our state…Great day here in Michigan!!!!!
Alisyn, may we upload a copy of the Novak interview to Youtube?
Sure. Thanks for asking!
Jane Novak is one of my co-bloggers at The Jawa Report… and in fact, she is one of my heroes.
Through her tireless, selfless efforts to inform people about Yemen, our so-called “ally” in the War on Terror, and more recently to inform people about the plight of journalist al-Khaiwani, Jane is making a real difference in this world.
For the people of Yemen, that difference is between freedom and oppression. For al-Khaiwani, the difference may well be between life and death.
Jane is a constant reminder that one person CAN make a difference, that one voice CAN be heard above the crowd… and she is an inspiration to bloggers around the world.
Thank you for interviewing Jane on your program, and for posting about her in this blog.
Her cause is a noble one, and she is deserving of all the support we can muster.
Don’t forget to go sign the petition!
Cheers!
I feel really bad for the lady whose back was broken, I know personally having your back broken is life changing. In 2003 my husband fell 2 stories at work breaking both his neck and his back causing him great pain and suffering not to mention it changed our lifes forever. I hope the woman gets lots of money. Unfortunately my husband didn’t get a penny for his injuries even thought he can no longer preform his job as an electrician and will never be the same because of his injuries. Sadly my husband’s employer the ( US Governement) does not pay compensation to employees who break their neck and back while working for theim. So yes I think the woman should sue for her injuries we couldn’t.
As for the stay at home mom who is supporting the Yemeni journalist named Al-Khaiwani, I applaud your efforts. Everyone likes to complain about whats happening in the world today but only a few ever want to do anything about it. A good example of that is the politicans who represent us, I hear it all the time politicans are nothing but liers and cheats they really don’t represent us or even care about us and yet WE THE PEOPLE do nothing to change that fact. Every time we have a change to do something about those who represent us and our country only a few of us show up to vote or fight for those rights. My prove is in the canidates who are running for President today. I admit I don’t know these people personally but I do know their politics and their reputations and I have to say its a sad note that their the best we could come up with to represent us and our country. And please dont tell me that you tried but you are only one person, because that accuse doesn’t cut it. Al – Khaiwani is only one person and his country is so afriad of what one person beleives they are willing to kill him for it. One day that may happen hear if we don’t do something to change it. If you don’t believe me think about some of the things happening in America today that you never beleived would be allowed, and then tell me that couldn’t happen here. God Bless you and American
Alisyn, Thank you for your interview with Mrs. Novak this morning. She is an inspiration to all of the ladies in The Cotillion and for bloggers everywhere. It is very humbling to know that one brave lady can make a difference peacefully across the globe in honor of democracy. It isn’t a partisan issue but one in which we all can join.
Is this running feud you have going on with Luis serious or are you two just kidding around with each other?
It’s been going on now for months!
God bless Jane Novak and her spirit. Her selfless act exemplifies the true heart of this country and its people. Our freedoms are only possible because of the selfless acts of many, although some did pay the ultimate price.
Yemen? They’re not our friend and I’m sure they’ll condemn this man to death just to spite us so I don’t know that anything we do, will help his position. But the fight still must be made and Jane is a brave soul to do so. I can only hope for the best.
About the lady that is suing the beer distributor for some drunk falling on her??? How ridiculous is that? Where does the blame game end? Sue the drunk, yes but not anyone else. I’m sure no one, including the wayward drunk, wanted any of this to happen.
It is unfortunate that our society has progressed in a “blame game” direction. Everybody wants to sue somebody and they could care less about lives affected over the millions they’re expecting.
America – wake up, slim ball PI lawyers don’t have your best interest at heart. You may win a settlement somewhere along the line but we’ll all pay for it somewhere.
Let you conscience be your guide and for Gods sake. lets start living the way we used to, as Proud Americans with good intentions for all. Remember that our freedoms weren’t gift wrapped under a Christmas tree, true brave men & women provided this for us, lets live rightous, if for no other reason, for them as they deserve that much from us.
Hi Alisyn
Thanks so much for highlighting the impact that bloggers have in todays world — especially Jane Novak. She is an important voice of freedom to a country that has none and simply jails and kills those who speak up. She brings alot of hope to people who have very little. She fights for them and her keyboard is a swift sword.
It was a great interview. I am a big F&F fan.

One thing about getting behind abuses of foreign governments; where are all you people when it comes to those things that happen here in the United States? People want to change political/criminal wrong-doings in countries outside the U.S. but nobody seems to go out and VOTE against abuses of power within our own borders.
And that goes for our leadership, too.
We’ll send political bigwigs to other countries to berate them about trade, democracy, civil rights and social injustices within THEIR borders and then they’ll come home to the U.S. and won’t lift a finger to help our homeless, our foster children, our struggling farmers and those families whose combined income barely gets them from paycheck to paycheck.
As a World leader we send billions of dollars to countries with populations smaller than the State of Maine in the name of goodwill. Or we send food, medicine, and other supplies (including teachers, scientists and doctors) to assist those countries in making the lives of their people better. Meanwhile, an American family farm goes into foreclosure without anyone caring enough to but them a bag of groceries or help pay their mortgage.
Granted, there are countries that have major problems when it comes to blatant abuses of power (women being set on fire for being raped, people who are mentally handicapped being experimented on in the name of modern medicine, chemical and biological practices of genocide, etc.) but where is the concern for those disadvantaged within our own Country?
Madonna and Angelina Jolie will travel to other countries to adopt children of impoverished countries but what about American children in orphanages who have the misfortune of being born in the U.S.? Oprah will build schools in Africa but what about the American schools that are being closed because of lack of funding? We’ll IMMEDIATELY send millions and millions of dollars to China (or some other Country that wouldn’t lose any sleep if the U.S. fell off the map) for earthquake or flood victims but what about all the U.S. townships and communities that are hit by natural disasters, annually? There are American families that are still waiting for promised monies from last year’s natural disasters.
I have a couple Service Ribbons for helping in the Search and Rescue of Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees, at sea; while serving in the U.S. Navy. But I can’t help but wonder if my battle group would have extended the same courtesy to drowning Americans. Would we have pulled over and stopped our aircraft carrier, the guided missile cruiser, the two guided missile destroyers and our support ships to rescue six Americans who intentionally poked holes in their boats when they saw us coming? Not only did we stop the battle group to pull them out of the water but we launched helicopters to help fend off sharks that smelled Cambodian/Vietnamese food being added to the day’s menu. All on the American taxpayer’s dime.
About the lady that didn’t see the sky falling… If I’m in a nightclub and some drunk dufus decides to sit on the barstool next to me, I get up and leave. Or at least get the bartender’s attention. Here’s a quick tip; if at ANY time the sun is suddenly being blocked out, and you know it probably isn’t a solar eclipse, MOVE!!! The only ethical litigation that should be taken is against the woman herself for lack of good judgment.
A.M. no feud………just open dialogue.
Hi Alisyn
Thanks for such a great interview with Jane Novak. She is such a great example of the impact bloggers are having in our world today. She has fearlessly stood shoulder to shoulder with yemeni’s who want democracy by bringing their stories to the forefront.
She is really inspiring to me and other bloggers.

Ms Novak should be awarded for her courage and the inspiration of her achievements and what she has done. She is a great American hero!
About what happened to that lady at the Mets game. I feel bad something like that could happen to an innocent person. It was obviously a freak accident. She should file a lawsuit so she could avoid punitive damages.
I wanted to mention about that 78 year old victim of that horrific hit and run that was caught on tape, i really feel bad for this guy. I cant get the images of what happened off my mind. What makes it worse is nobody lifted a single hand. What is going on with the world these days? Where are the Good Samaritans out there? I always try and help someone in need, whoever it may be, even though its a compete stranger.
I do know one thing, Alisyn and everyone else here on the FoxNews Team, would definately lead a hand to an ailing person in danger. Everyone who works there, should be commended for a job well done.
Guy A.L. – You sound really fed-up, but let me just say, I think it’s up to the American people to help one another, not the government. Perhaps if our tax bills were not so high we could more afford to help our neighbor. People like The Joli’s and the Winfrey’s could, and should, do more to help in this country, but that’s not interesting to the media, and so one begins to question motives. I think if the media made it a cause (homeless, American orphans, etc.), more of the Hollywood elite would take the torch and run. Sad, but in my opinion, true.
As for the mortgage crisis, many who are loosing homes maybe shouldn’t have gotten mortgages they could’nt repay. I know personally of several who bit off much more than they could chew at the home-loan table, and they now suffer accordingly. If the rules were a little more strict at the start of the process, there would be many more apatment dwellers, and far fewer defaults. I couldn’t believe I got a home loan at the lowest pay of my adult working life (sort of between jobs), when I was aproved for a 6 figure loan, making only $8 an hour! Nuff said.
Great show… good discussions.
And since this is “Open Blog Friday” Alisyn, would you please pass this along – Rhonda, you go girl… How ’bout them ‘Wings!
Luis – “just open dialogue” Yeah, OK, I’ll buy that..
You obviously have great affection and admiration (as most of us do) for Alisyn. It’s quite apparent to me you are just trying to pull her leg with some of your nutty comments (Robin Meade?, Oh Pulease)…
Anyway, is she so naive not to know you are just kidding around and trying to get her goat? Or, does she understand you are, and is just playing along? I guess that’s my question…I’ve been wondering that for months.
No biggie, just curious is all.
Enjoy your weekend.
The United States of America is certainly a great country, and this type of forum only illustrates this fact. This country is great for many reasons but none more important than the freedom to exchange our points of view with each other, without fear for ones life for expressing views that aren’t in tune with the governments agenda.
Can you imagine how many dead Americans we’d have if GW was like the other tyrants of the world? GW has taken a verbal beating for quite a while and yet he stands up confidently and smiles, doesn’t lash out and doesn’t blame people. He may not always be right but he exemplifies how a true leader of a free society should address his fellow countrymen.
Try speaking out about your hardships and lack of government support in Russia or China, how long before you’re rubbed out? Not long, I imagine.
What stupid people beat and kill their women (mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, etc.) when theyve been raped? I’ll tell all you people staight up, mess with my mother, my sisters, my family, children or the elderly in my presence, and get ready for the full force of the good Lord because I will fight to the death for those not as strong as I and that are being abused by the bullies of the world.
So please continue expressing yourselves, its a wonderful gift, this life. But to be an American in life, is truly one of the greatest gifts God has provided to anyone in this world in any ara.
Sorry I was not able to write about the flag issue yesterday, but i would like to make a points. On the side of the interstate heading into nashville you will see a statue on the side of the road of Nathen Bedford Forrest surrounded by, I believe, 13 confederate battle flags. The man who owns this monument has said that the point of it is to show racism. While many people are offended by this site, either for this man’s Desecration of the flag or for his blatant show of prejudice, this has not affected the visitors to Nashville or to the small historical towns surrounding the city.
She is a patriot and so are you Alisyn for giving an American Hero your time!
A great piece giving some credit to an average American who has found a way to stand up and speak out for justice in a place most people ignore,
Thanks, Fox & Friends. This is another example of why I watch.
sorry folks, I meant “in any era”
The blog of Ms. Novak is just an example of a new phenomenon with great implications for American democracy. While there are no constraints on the press to report the news in an objective fashion, blogs such as hers can make alternative information or perspectives readily available.
good to see you did a P.S. on the confederate battle flag and nice of you to say you have now learned something, but I hope that what you learned is not how two sides view the flag but the real history behind it , who flies it as well who flies the American flag. There should be only one view and that historically correct factual history the rest is , well is viewed on not what the flag is nor what the war was about.
Think it was mike who asked, the answer is I may not agree with you but I will fight to my death in order for you to say it, that was wrote by Voltaire
As for sailor(doesn’t even know whatvthe stars and vars is and what the battle flag is)yet alone on on this subject and I think George from Ohio, so sad that you do not know your history at all or what this subject is about . We learned American history in Europe and I have since moved to the south to study the war between the states and when you study it only then will you grasp what the flag means to many and not the PC Bologna.
I really do hope you educate yourself about all this I really do as when I hear people with that view of yours then I can only come to one conclusion sadly.
s for someone saying about Florida , well I live here now and have done for some years and while you won’t see the battle flag down in southern Florida you will see it where I live in St Augustine northern Florida, you will also see the graves of dead confederate black soldiers, some of the 60,000 whio fought against the north on their own free will, yes there are letters from them saying this.
I bet you and sailor never knew this did you maybe you should get on the topic and read the comments, you never know you might learn something .
Again for doing the P/S on this subject, my Boston wife is also pleased that another red sox fan has a more clear understanding of what the flag means
A.M. Secretly, she has a crush on me
LOL
How’s that for a joke
Reading this blog over….
I think Jane is awesome!!! What a courageous woman and a great role model for all young girls. It’s amazing what free speech can do for a person.
As for the Confederate flag, I think there are a lot of stubborn people out on both sides of that issue, and none of them impress me much. Yawn. Hugs for Alyson!
Alisyn, thank you so much for your piece on Jane Novak and Yemen. Jane’s blog is one of the first I ever read several years ago, and she’s inspired me in so many ways. I feel fortunate to call her a friend, and I think it’s so important that the work she does is getting some attention. Too few people realize what’s really happening outside the usual hot-spots, but the mess in Yemen affects us all, as Americans AND as lovers of freedom everywhere.
I’ll second Vicki’s comment above, where she encouraged everyone to sign the letter protesting the treatment of Abdulkarim Al-Khaiwani and other pro-democracy activists: PLEASE SIGN! (You can have your name shown as Anonymous, if you like.) http://campaigns.aicongress.org/yemen
Luis, Do you mean she dropped a safe out of a window on you and you were crushed? I think that is the only type of crush she has on you. LOL
Exactly, LOL
Love hurts……..:)
“Love hurts”…LOL
Thanks Luis, I just spewed coffee all over my monitor!!
P.S. The new girl on F&F this morning is gorgeous..
Nah. I’m not fed up. Although I do get a bit disgusted with all the accolades people get for helping or adopting people from other countries when there are Americans in the same situations and yet don’t receive nearly the same time or effort.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t help people from other countries. Nor should we turn our heads away from populaces under the boot of tyrannical governments. But come on. Where is the outcry from liberals and Hollywood psuedo intellectuals (like Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, et al) for housing this Nation’s poor?
I am very proud to have served in this Country’s military and am proud to be an American. I believe this Country is, hands down, the most generous and forgiving country in the World. We didn’t just forgive Japan at the end of World War II; we helped rebuild it and made it one of the World’s strongest economic players. The same goes for Germany, Italy and other nations. We understand as a nation that all of us (all nations of the World) have to live together on the same blue ball as it goes careening through space.
The United States has the military might and technology to destroy ANY other country that might really piss us off. Our military doesn’t even have to leave its recliner to push a couple buttons and end the existence of ANY nation we want. But we don’t. Because it wouldn’t make any sense. That says a lot about the character of this Nation.
Could you say the same about certain despotic-lead countries like Venezuela, Iran or Korea? What if any of those countries had the power to dictate World policy? And what if they had the same weapons capabilities? Would anyone want a radical, religious zealot have his finger over the button of an ICBM? And yet Rosie O’Donnell sings their praises while bashing the United States. [Note to Rosie; the leader of Iran says there aren't any gays in his country. If you really want to make a political statement, how about moving to Iran. That'll show him!]
There’s an old adage; charity begins at home. That’s all I’m saying.
To Carlos Martinez:
A country that is an American ally has a religous sect that believes that if a woman is raped, it is her fault. And because this disgraceful act (of being raped) belittles the family (of the rape victim) then she (the victim) needs to be severely punished. So her (the rape victim) family members (father, brother, uncle) often set the victim on fire or hack her to death with a machete or whatever. And the local government basically turns its head. Because she had it coming. So, the judge, jury and executioner are the victim’s own family members.
And yet we give millions of dollars in aid to this country every year. Not to mention share technology and educational opportunities. At least we’re helping out the male members of these families. I can’t say we’re doing anything for the female members that are being set aflame.
So, Doug of Lexington… Am I bummed out? Nah. Cynical? Nah. Perturbed? A little. What have I done to help out my fellow Americans? I’ve worked as a volunteer for troubled teens and a few other things. Am I doing enough? I don’t think so. But I don’t think the Clintons, or the Gores, or the Kennedys, or the Jesse Jacksons, or the Al Sharptons are either. Not as long as they continue to spend more money on themselves (hosting fancy dinners, on ridiculously priced clothing, first class trips, etc.) than I earn in a year. But then again, I’m not out to impress anyone. Maybe that’s all part of it.
I don’t know if this will get posted as it it seems most of my posts never do but here goes again
People will view the confederate flag much like Irans leader will view the holocost. Irans leader is not educated about the subject and has a very narrow thinkiing of it and this is the very same with the confederate flag and tghe war between the states.
Since moving to the south I have found southerners very much more knowledgable abou tthis subject while I ofund my self as well northerners very uneducated about it, When I did look into the subject and why the war between the states happened and why , when , how the cionfederate battle flag was used I was amazed at just how much I was ignorant to history.
I just hope history will be taught inschools and I mean the factual version not the PC uneducated version some teachers will probabaly have on this subject
I hope this is posted as it is only right after such a post by George to correct him and sailor
Such a shame George does not know about history and how can anyone say that about Mr Lambert, he does not know the man nor does he know much about this subject .
The confederate flag was used because the south made a flag which had to look different to the one the north was using other southern flags which were the stars and bars were so much looking like the northern one on the battle field.
As for the American flag standing for liberty , maybe George could tell that to the American native who were killed, butchered, maimed and displaced, maybe they could tell that to the southerners who were killed for just singing their songs, not being allowed to vote for over 10 years in LA or maybe those who were killed and raped by General sherman’s army. or tell that to the slaves who were brought here under the flag
Maybe they could tell that to the blacks who were put on experiment etc etc etc
The point I am trying to make and I hope this gets posted as George and the like would benefit from knowing this is that bother sides have had a dark past so to think of one is great and the other is bad is a very simplistic way of looking at things
On the trials at Gitmo …
Though as Americans we might know that all men across the globe are endowed by their Creator with the certain inalienable rights that we here in the United States are blessed to realize, we must also understand that the freedom to express those rights as a society was bought with the high price of the precious blood of our forefathers and their posterity. To argue that those bought rights should extend to non-citizens (especially those who are known, self-avowed enemies of this country) not only cheapens American citizenship but it is absolutely masochistically ignorant. It is ultimately up to the citizens of every other country on this planet to depose their tyrants and to earn for themselves the privileged realization of their own rights, the rights that we Americans know. These terrorists are not American citizens and certainly they have no claim to the blood that bought those rights for her citizens especially considering that they would gladly desecrate that blood, the memory of its fallen and the ideals that it represents.
Carlos Martinez… I agree with your post about America… but I must share with you that unless my comments on a few other topics (homosexuality, Gitmo etc.) mysteriously appear on this blog… then all here are unknowing witnesses to censorship in this country by an alleged unbiased media outlet already… just to avoid “controversey”.
wow. That was a great interview with Jane. It is great you are bringing to light to people that are fighting for freedom and justice.
Three to blame for the squishing incident:
1. The stadium.
2. People who did not attend the game.
3. Your relatives in Iceland.

Oh my goodnes! What do I think of Jane Novak? She is a kind, loving, intelligent, wise and compassionate woman that has harnassed the power of the pen of the to help others to have the opportunity to enjoy freedom ….. the same freedom that we enjoy.
God bless Jane the enemy of Yemen’s corrupt government. I am happy to be in her and Mr. al-Khawaini’s corner!
Free al-Khawaini.
We cannot prove the beer vendor supplied the booze.
Security has a part for not getting the ID on the guy who caused the injury, it could be a coverup. What did they do with that guy if he was drunk. The ballclub should be offering to help as they did not control the security for the guests.
