Hi Alisyn, I guess I wasn’t the lucky winner of the ” Breakfast with my Favorite Fox Team” huh??…..Never been to NY…tis one of my goals on my bucket list….Oh well, try again…..I was listening to the show this morning and I heard you talk about a young gal who isn’t going to be allowed to graduate with her class because she missed a lot of school due to cancer treatments she was receiving during her school year…….Well I live out here in the Mid West and maybe we do thing totally backwards but……If there are students who for some reason are short credits to graduate and they can be made up in summer school or a short semester of the following year…..they allow the kids to graduate WITH their classmates and go through the complete ceremony, they just don’t get a signed Diploma…all they get is their folder that holds the diploma when they walk up on the stage to receive it…And when the necessary credits are made up, they receive their signed diploma……So what would be so wrong for them to allow this girl to do the same??…….

Hey people: that was probably the best AtSS this year– even over the other comedic highs reached (the cavity, Meat Loaf and the ideology of his lyrics, Shatner and many many others).
I propose a once a month kareoke session or do this every so often like per quarter to break up the normal drama or your typical passe news day.
Ali’s correct, all personal cultural identification is genderized and generational–much like a taste and long-term memory for music and Rock and Roll. Congrats and keep on trucking to your assistant (the guy singing with the encylopedic brain on theme songs. This guy should try Trivia Night competitions up in Yale/ New Haven CT). Yes ALi —I too miss those days and all that simple fun in a world which seemed less complex or real.
I compare myself to Steve’s extreme isolation compared to mine in the NY Metro and Philly markets. In my very early fifties, I grew up and was party to everything on TV or even radio in those days.
I remember daily prime time, Saturday and then daytime reruns of the day (example seeing the original “Flintstones” prime time on ABC Friday night 730 PM) In NJ you not only had the daytime reruns (example reruns of my all time personal favorite show of shows, “I Love Lucy” in 10 or 9 AM slot; various local network shows and then the prime time after 7:30 PM. Remember when you study it, The modern institution of nightly news really began with the Kennedy Adminsitration–i.e. the networks figured out the US presidency sells and at that time became sexy; the point is News ran in like a 15 minute cycle at 6PM and 10 PM and then the networks went off the air. Poor Steve stuck with CBS (but he did see any of the ongoing Lucy CBS shows, Lassie on Sundays (good memory Alisyn **); All in the Family, M T Moore, and the crime dramas–Hawai Five O [my favorite 1968--1979 as a teen Thurs 10 PM and I could then stay up] Kojak later on Sundays etc). Yes I watched Trek on NBC for its three years (here too the Alex Courage theme song also changed–its credits, tones and sound effects after year one.
I dont know if the show itself or one’s own psychic attachment/ reward makes or leaves the lasting impact in memory. You just proved it in this AtSS about the humor and comradery one can generate on such stuff.
In the case of Star Trek I think this vehicle sold itself to the much wider audience through the magic of literally well worn re-runs; (for ex in NY everynite for years at 6–7 PM; ditto in Philly in the late 1970s on your Fox affiliate Ch29 for two hours when I was in college etc.) So I dont know if its the original or the rerun which creates the greater impact or love affair. I once actually worked in professional offices wherein the many of the males to humor themselves through dreary days literally did Trek street theater supported usually with a chorus of clowns doing Courage trek themes ( the love theme, the Vulcan theme, the chase theme, the comic theme, the alien confrontation theme etc.). I can only imagine this being played out by the women workers with Sex and the City (or maybe the male coworkers would love it). Yes I guess it did have a profound impact on my humor or my allowances for others and in my case the women coworkers all thought we were certifiably nuts.
Imaging if you all graduate to Music kareoke, say for sake of discussison, pop, rock or country. Having sang lead in a pop Fifties style oldies band and when I still entertain, I horribly date myself. But just imaging if you are just limiting yourself to Oldies and with those days in mind the next Kareoke AtSS :
I can just see Gretchen’s impassioned version of “Johnny Angel.” Alisyn–I have no idea—but why do I identify ballads with you—something of the torch song variety (”Desperado” from the 1970s or newer ?). Steve, Brian and the rest of males in the studio, with their intellects and comic kookyness– they only would know —I can just see Steve belting out Orbison’s “Oh Pretty Women” Why ??? I just don’t know to me it fits him.
SO, maybe now that the contest is past and the Big Picture is functioning, maybe a Quarterly Kareoke AtSS. Can’t wait to hear it. Man, I wish you were all my close friends–all of you are really a flat out “riot”; you’re all so genuine and decent. Thanks again for the best laugh I ve had all week.

Alysin,
Please tell me where the blog you deleted about the hidden video of Obama and family…… ( I reposted the ENTIRE deleted blog in the Trinity Blog) Bectal said the tape was soon to be produced. Hannity told us it is coming…..

So where is the video?

Where is the original blog and why is Fox News manipulating the news instead of reporting it. Why not break the news????

And if you do… Answers these questions, I will sing of joy!

When are you guys going to stop being so negative against Obama, and Steve Doocy wonders why Howard Dean will not appear on the show? I mean I love your show but sometimes you guys act so Republican, kind of suprising when your boss stated a democrat will win in October. Alos do you want to burn that bridge if Obama wins in November.

Hello Alysin,
This particular ATSS was the first that I watched. It was fun to sing along…since I’ve been a big TV-aholic most of my life! I appreciate how much fun you all have with each other and how your “on-the-air” presentation is also so genuine and inviting.

Shame on those others that left posts on this blog that were extremely rude and distasteful. In my opinion these should be deleted immediately.

Luis, Don’t accuse Alisyn of something so low as taking enjoyment out of such disgusting posts as those by paul and legman.
First off, it is clear that posts are going through without being approved or read prior to posting.
Secondly, as those that have watched Alisyn, or read this blog, for any amount of time know she is not the most tech savvy person and needs the assistance of someone more technically proficent to handle these type of things.
Lastly, Alisyn is a class act and down to earth Lady. She doesn’t need some creep’s profanity and obscene comments to feed her ego. Her ego isn’t that fraggle that it needs any kind of attention.

Whoever is supposed to be helping out with the blog and keeping an eye on it while Alisyn is otherwise busy is letting her down.

Allison, This is an e-mail I wrote to my son’s teachers becasue they ask him to draw and write about something that no one can change his mind about. I am sure that you guys mean well, but you need to read your history books again. The confederate flag is not about slavery at all, but much more than that. You also need to have someone on the show that can really speak about the flag especially the African American I have written about in this e-mail and really have a good debate. No offense but you guys were not fair and balanced on this issue. I don’t really think the Judge is aware of what the South is really about, you have only heard the North’s side of it. Oh and by the way I actually had a Northern once tell me that the reason they move to the South is because they think Southerns are to dumb to run their part of the country. Now how fair and balanced is that? Please read the history of the South before making any judgements on why we love the Confederate Flag. Thanks for your ear.

Shelly

I am sure you are aware of the controversy that has come about due to Trevor wanting to draw a picture of the Confederate Flag for his class. I believe the assignment was:

“Draw something that no one can change your mind about”

Trevor decided to do just that and draw a picture of the Confederate Flag. He was told that he was not allowed to draw this flag because it was “racist”. Obviously the history of this flag has not been taught in the school nor is the teachers and administration aware of the great history and knowledge of what this flag is about. I am a true Southern Gal and have made it a point to make sure my children understand their Heritage as well as how it pertains not only to their past but also to their future. I have to say that I am truly offended that the school would decline Trevor’s desire to draw the Confederate Flag because they think it is “racist”. If there is one thing our family is not, we are not racist. I would encourage the administration and staff of Eagleton Middle School to read and reread the reason for our Confederate Flag and make sure they understand why this flag is not only important to the South but also important to Trevor and our family.

There is a commentary written by Leonard M. Scruggs and his son Mike Scruggs that was written in the Carolina Journal. This document was given to Trevor a few years back by an African American man by the name of H K Glerter that was waving the Confederate Flag outside of Maryville High School because he believes in the Confederate Flag and what it stood for. THIS FLAG DID NOT STAND FOR SLAVERY…..Please if you have any knowledge whatsoever do not teach students that the Confederate Flag stands for slavery. The man that waved the flag started in South Carolina and went all over the South states to uphold the truth of the Confederate Flag. It is amazing to me that as a Caucasian the Administration and Staff are still not aware why they wave the Confederate Flag.

In the article written by the Scruggs’ men it states and I quote:

“The Reverend James Power Smith the last surviving member of Stonewall Jackson’s staff had this to say in 1907:
” No cowardice on any battlefield could be as base and shameful as the silent acquiescence in the scheme which was teaching the children in their homes and schools that the commercial value of slavery was the cause of the war, the prisoners of war held in the South were starved and treated with barbarous inhumanity, that Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee were traitors to their country and false to their oaths, that the young men who left everything to resist invasion and climbed the slopes of Gettysburg and died willingly on a hundred fields were rebels against a righteous government.”

It also states in this article:

“There are those that say that the display of the Confederate Battle Flag is insensitive. They say it is a symbol of slavery and offends many people. But their offense is based on ignorance of its true origin and history. Their offense is based on decades of unquestioned propaganda attempting to justify an unjust war and its deplorable tyranny and conduct. The men who carried the Southern Cross into battle never meant it to be a symbol of slavery. Their letters and diaries prove it was far from their minds. Not many of them owned slaves or favored its continued existence for very long in the future. Less than 25% of Southern households owned slaves. So far as slavery was concerned they only wanted the right to deal with it in their own way, in their own time, state by state, just as the Northern states, all of which had slavery in 1776, had done. They Union Army did not invade the South to free slaves. They invaded the South to prevent its political and economic independence. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation came after more than 19 months of war and did not actually free any slaves in the Union or Union held areas of the Confederacy. It was done as a war measure in hopes of causing disorder in the South. Only later was the slavery issue used in an attempt to give tyranny a pious justification.

To Southern Soldiers and their families the Confederate Battle Flag symbolized their Christian heritage and resistance to tyranny. They were fighting for the right of Southern States and their people to determine their own political destiny, just as their Revolutionary War Forefathers had fought the British. They were fighting against the evil of unjust taxation and many other abuses of power perpetrated by Northern political factions. They were fighting to free themselves of a Northern Political dominance that had enriched the Northern states and oppressed the Southern states (Much like what is still happening today). After many years of hardship and blood spilled on the battlefield the Southern Cross came to symbolize the courage and blood sacrifice of the Confederate Soldier and Southern people. They believed in the justice and righteousness of their cause (Which is what we teach our children) and when the surrender at Appomattox came, they gave up their regimental banners with tears and weeping.

We must ourselves honor the memory of our fallen heroes and al that served in that great struggle beneath our Southern Cross. The words of South Carolina journalist and poet Henry Timrod (1829-1867) in his moving Ode at Magnolia Cemetery should move our hearts to resolve:

“Stoop, angels, thither from the skies! There is no holier ground, than where defeated valor lies, by mourning beauty crowned.”

But no there are many who for political or economic gain would rather see every memory and symbol of that noble arm destroyed and desecrated. There are still others who though being descendents of those noble soldiers by their indifference and moral cowardice would acquiesce to that destruction. In dishonoring the Southern Cross and suppressing a noble Christian Heritage they heap dishonor on themselves.

We first must honor our God and Savior, but we must also honor those noble men and women who fought not for slavery, but fought for us to be free to make our own decisions as to what we believe in and how we believe in it.

Trevor did not make an unjust request to draw the Confederate Flag. This is something he truly believes in, not because of those that are ignorant who attribute it to slavery, but because he believes in the rights of those that are honest, good, and just. He also believes in the right to decide on how he will live his life and what will become of it. The reason he does all this is due to the Southern Forefathers that died for his rights and his freedom, just like those that are dying today for our rights and freedom.

Legman: If you are going to criticize my typo then perhaps you should at least learn to spell Alisyn’s name correctly when posting on her blog.

If you want to compliment Alisyn then pay a compliment in a civil and adult manner, such as ‘Alisyn, you look lovely today. That is a nice tan you have on your legs. Your dress this morning is very flattering’.

Instead you insist on make crass comments and only objectify Alisyn. These are the actions of an immature person that is intimidated by an attractive and intelligent woman. You feel the need to objectify her and subconciously reduce her to no more than the body parts you focus on. By doing so it allows you to feel better about yourself and no longer feel threatened by her. Maybe some day you will grow up, but doubtful since you take such relish in acting immature.

Alisyn, on behalf of those on this blog that don’t know how to act civily, I appoligize for their boorish behavior.

Shelly D what a great entry so well thought out and expressed. And you are so right the families of those who fell carrying the Union flag deserve to honor their fallen ancestors. Although I am a northerner my parents taught me the real history of the civil war so despite the falsehoods in the text books I know that slavery was not the main reason for the civil war. My mom went through the roof when she read that in my history text! Keep educating the public.
Now I started reading this blog today because Ali you said that only males get Star trek. You could not be more wrong. My friends and I back in the mid sixties could not wait to get to school the morning after to discuss the latest episode. The early shows all had a moral and sometimes a political message and we would have lengthy debates about those messages. Believe me the boys only saw the surface of those shows not the deeper content. We even got the nuns to let us discuss the merits of the message and its implication to society several times in our current events class. You need to go back and watch some of those old shows. William shattner should too his present show is a disgrace with anti moral themes.
And Steve thanks for the memory of only one channel. I grew up in NYC so We got all the channels. But I raised my family in upstate NY and cable was not avail all my kids got to watch was NBC. so we played games and spent the nicer months outdoors till bedtime.
love the after show keep up the good work!

Alisyn, first of all watch you every day .. you guys are the best. About the confederate flag … living in South Carolina it has become a very BIG matter. I see both sides .. it can be very offensive and the only thing I can say for a “positive” side (at least this how I do it when I see one) is to remind me of a very “wrong” time in our history and a reminder to me and others to never let our nation make that kind of wrong again.
Keep up the great work.

Alysin,
Please… I have posted and posted for a response… why was the blog about Bectel and the secret Obama tape deleted.

It is common to delete rude posts and I am completely supportive of that. But this is not the case. You wrote a story, made a blog. I along with others responded to it…. Then I went to a meeting and when I returned the ENTIRE blog was deleted. POOF… GONE!

Fortunately, I had left the browser up so the blog was preserved…. I will post it here for you… Should you need to reference it when responding to me. I ask for an answer, respectfully!

I care a lot about this issue. I want to know about this tape and I want to know why Bectel and Hannity referred to it…. and I want to know why Fox deleted it. I want to know if you are reporting the news or withholding it to make news…..

I am new to this type of blogging, but have blogged on other topics…. So perhaps it is common at Fox News to delete blogs started by Co- Anchors.. However, what I know of blogging it is considered bad form to delete entire threads (blogs) unless they break the code of ethics…. And when that is done, there is usually a post explaining it….

So please… do explain to me, if you would… Because my middle name is “Persistent” and I will keep asking until I get an answer. If you wish, write to me at my email address… ( chalice46@gmail.com) I don’t care how I get an answer, but I do expect an answer!!!!!!!

God Bless America!

Beckel’s Obama Bombshell
by Alisyn Camerota
Were you watching at 6:25 when Democratic strategist Bob Beckel dropped a bomb on us? He said he’d heard through his political pipeline that a big shoe was about to drop on the Obama campaign. It has something to do with Michelle Obama. Beckel wouldn’t say anything more other than this explosive story may happen tomorrow. Do you think the GOP has something up its sleeve that could blow up Obama’s campaign? If so, when do you think they’ll unleash it?

Alisyn, i saw those disgusting and nasty posts coming from that weirdo person earlier this morning, and i was going to say something about it., but i noticed that person was attacking everyone who did, and i really didnt want to get involved in an arguement over the internet. That person obviously has no respect for you, and is treating you like a second class citizen while hiding behind a computer screen. I was very upset and outraged when i first saw those messages. I am glad they were deleted as soon as possible.

You are a very smart, intelligent, and down to earth person, and enjoy reading and posting at your blog daily.

Maybe you should start moderating the posts during the late evenings and early morning hours, so this kind of stuff wont happen again.

I know that you are a whiz with your website and HTML skills, and are very knowledgable on the subject, so i am sure you will decide how to best deal and prevent this matter.
