Alisyn in the Greenroom

Open Blog Friday

Good morning Everyone! So, what do you think of the name of the big blue screen — The Big Picture? We felt that says it all. “Now here’s Alisyn with The Big Picture.” Hey, why didn’t Steve just use that when he tossed to me?? Clearly, we’re going to need some practice.

Did you hear our debate this morning about the quality in employees that most annoys top executives? Cursing. Yup, cursing rates even higher than drinking on the job and leaving early! What the @#$&?? Employees, on the other hand, say the worst offense is stealing other people’s food from the office fridge. (this means YOU, culprit on the 18th floor of FNC!) What is your personal pet peeve?

And, how great was it to see Rick and Bubba this morning? It was one giant love fest in the Greenroom with our old friends from Alabama visiting. Did you hear — they’re running for President? They say two jokers are better than one clown (I think they meant politician). Check out their new book “Rick and Bubba for President.”

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What did Audra get for dinner last night????

Obama’s church is kinda funky. That sermon probably knocked the poop out of the Pope!

Do we really need a bunch of little Clay Aikens in a test tube? Something frightening about that idea… I keep having this vision of a hospital nursery and all the newborns are singing show tunes.

Love Rick & Bubba! Used to watch their morning show on Turner South before it went south.

Have you seen the video of those Thong Bandits in Colorado? WTH were they thinking? lol lol lol

New name for the screen…….actually prefer Goddess Vision (Janice Dean)

I think some employers should have a zero tolerance policy for verbally abusing guests with crying babies………;) (get it Steve?)

The two hillbillies are a tad better than what the Dimicrats have to offer …….a tad :)

Good morning Ms. Alisyn and Ms. Audra,

How’s the tooth this morning Ms. Alisyn?

I thought it was very nice that Ms. Audra came into the blog and posted. I hope that will be a regular habit for her. ;)

Rick and Bubba are great, they make more sense than most of those running right now.

Enjoy your weekend.

Good Morning AA (Allyn and Audra)

Rick and Bubba - loved em! Agreed with them and am going to vote for them - buying the book today!

Cool about the tribe in Brazil too - Maybe the God’s aren’t crazy :)

Have a great weekend.

Comment by Marshall

Almost forgot about the contest….. Who won and when do they go to the big city?

Audra has a lot of friends and family supporting her on this blog. That is nice!

Comment by Laurie

My biggest pet peeve is inconsistent bosses. They lay down the rules and then the next day those rules don’t apply. Very discouraging.

I think Rick and Bubba would make great presidents. They say it like it is. At least they would be willing to take on a whatever is thrown at them and not duck for cover. TI bet they wear an American Flag pin and lays their hand over their heart when the American Anthem is played. They are very patriotic.

Have a sparkling day.

Good Morning Alisyn…give us review of Sex and the City monday. Cause I can promise you none of us men will be going to it.

Comment by Luis

Oh, and have Audra do the news segment………………Robin Meade, you have competition now baby :)

Comment by Mike Malone

Good Morning Alisyn!

How about when the person whose food was stolen starts cursing? Yeah, see, combine the two.
(Rebecca Gomez didn’t have any marinara stains on her blouse the other day did she?)

I hate to break it to you all, but the video that was reported to be of a Javain Rhino was not real. That is actually video from the set of Sean Penn’s new movie. He just hadn’t been to makeup yet when that was shot. Amazing what they can do with makeup and good lighting.

So can we get rid of the Big Blue Wall now? We have had the new toy for two weeks. I think that is long enough. I am getting tired of needing a telescope to find Alisyn on the screen. That inanimate block of circuits gets 80% of the screen, meanwhile the beautiful Alisyn is pushed over into the edge of the screen and hidden behind the graphics. There are some very messed up priorities here. Alisyn, the human being, should be the center of attention when she is telling the news.
I want to be able to see Alisyn!!!… not a bunch of graphics on a big tv screen.

Hi Alysin,

Loved Rick and Bubba. They definitely have my vote for sure. I think they are totally qualified. I have already obamaed for the morning, so can comment with no hurry.

Of course I agree that cursing and other bad language should be the first reason for a boss to fire someone. It speaks to who and what the employee is and is not an asset for the company. The frequent us of bad language spills out at the most unexpected moment, and I just wouldn’t want to take the chance. I also do not want to be subjected to that kind of unruly hateful behavior from a co-worker. Get yourself and your mouth cleaned up before you come to work!!!

You look beautiful this morning Alysin. Good morning Audra. I know you are having a wonderful time! lol I am going to miss the winner announcement, as I have to leave for work! :( No access from work, so will have to check when I get home. I hope it’s ME ME ME!!!!!

Comment by Glenn Plum

Just some feedback. I like the Big Picture but really preferred the initial formatting where the headlines were all listed. My problem with the current format is that the upcoming story teaser seems to draw the focus of attention. We normally read from top to bottom and the current story title is at the bottom of the screen.
You might take a look at it and see if it doesn’t seem a little confusing the way it currently is.

I enjoy your show.

How can that man claim to be a man og God….and carry on like that?…..when do they mention God or Christ? All I have seen is hatred and stirring up racial troubles.

Comment by Walt De Visser

I wonder what would be the reaction if boys wanted to play on the Girl Basketball team? There is no doubt that boys/men respond differently to girls/women in sports. Some would think “Gentlemen and Ladies” vs a brawl or rough and tumble sports. I would rather my grand children know there is a difference between genders and respond to that difference correctly. Yeah, I know there are many women that don’t see it that way but I am conservative enough to still open doors for ladies, tip my hat, and use that Ma’am word!

Good Morning Aliysn,
Clinton needs to take it to the convention, she will have the popular vote, who ever wins the popular vote will win the nomintion, there has never been a winner of a Democratic primarie that has not won the popular vote, so lets just wait and see what happens, whats the rush anyways, I dont understand why the Democratics are backing a man that has no experience with a two year term in the Senate, and if you ask a question they call you a racist, he is not honest with the American people, so I say, give Clinton a chance,
Clinton is the best choice for the Democratic party to go against McCain in november.
Sal

Comment by Jimmy Adams in Pelham, GA

If that is the church that Obama attended for 20 years…it had to shape his attitudes….I don’t think he’s being honest with the American people about his true feelings and attitudes….and that scares me tremendously!!!

Hey Alisyn,

I watched Ann Coulter last night on FOX. You know….she’s a gorgeous woman, but she talks too much, no one gets a word in edgewise. I wonder if she talks that much on a date? Ya think?

Comment by dMIke

“Big Picture,” huh? You know Archie Campbell (from Hee Haw) would make that “Pig Bicture.” It’s a great name though, as you said, it covers it all!

Alysin, I hope your tooth is better! The sharpness you described sounds more like a chipped tooth or shallow cavity to me. If you find the tooth terribly painful when exposed to heat, and relieved by ice or cold liquids, that’s a sign the root is swelling and that’s a bit more serious. Either way, a prompt dentist visit is in order.

Have a great weekend!

dMike

Why, why, why do girls think they should be allowed to play on any *boys* team when a girls team is available? What would happen if the boys decided to try out for all of the girls sports? They have a girls team that the young 12 year old can play, and from what they said she does play for the high school girls team. Why must there be people out there that continually want to buck the system. If there wasn’t a girls team, then it would be a whole other story, BUT thats not the case. Good grief!

Coming from working at a gym to working at a law firm, you do realize that cursing is a huge problem - it creates a very negative environment. With meaty men surrounding me and grouchy salesman there was nothing but a bubble of negativeness around me. I decided to pop the bubble and move on with my job to a law firm where I’m with older women and I vedde much appreciate it. I’m actually the youngest here. I guess I’ll get back to work now. Have a good day!

Your interview on college commencement addresses prompted me to share my thoughts about the keynote address at my sons graduation this month at Emory University in Atlanta. The speaker was Bernard Marcus who told us of what he called his great American story. Mr Marcus was he son of Russian immigrants who wanted to be a medical doctor, faced quotas that no longer exist at the universities, instead went on to obtain a degree in pharmacy. He later decided to be a retailer and co-founded Home Depot. Mr. Marcus has given back the fruits of his success to many causes around the world. I don’t know his political leanings but I do know he inspired me and I am certain that he inspired many of those graduates about the opportunities America offers to all that care to pursue those opportunities.

Good Morning Alisyn and Audra: We have the same problem here where I work. It just goes along with the same theory that food tastes better at someone elses house. Remember when you were a kid and it was always better to get invited to dinner at a friend’s house? I guess lunch tastes better to some people if it’s not yours. Sick! Start putting tabasco sauce on your rigatoni/sausage when you put it in the fridge. But actually the gossip and back biting bothers me as much as the food thing. People can really be mean. Have a great weekend. My family and I are going to a water park this weekend in sunny Florida (just down the road). Hope you guys have a great weekend also!!

I think Brian gets a kick out of saying the home of the “2008 Presidential eeelection” and it doesn’t bother me. It is certainly not only informative but enjoyable to watch Fox and Friends in the morning and the interaction between the trio.
In regards to today’s revelation with the priest…deplorable that such hate speech should come out of anyone’s mouth, let alone a “man of God”. While I had thought highly of Senator Obama, I am certainly having many, many doubts now and taking a good, hard look at McCain.
Hey, Alyson…and the winner is…

good morning,
just turned on the tv (i live in the west) and see that another crane has come down in nyc. isnt that the second one in just a few months? i have been in construction and around tower cranes for 30 yrs. and have never seen an accident. where are the inspectors? what a tradgedy, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families. anyway my biggest pet work peeve is people being late, or just not showing up. it throws everything out of whack. hope you all have a gr8 weekend steve

My biggest pet peeve is when employees don’t do the job they are paid to do and whine about not having enough time to or pay to do their job.

Comment by Guy at Large

Good morning, Alisyn. Too bad about the tooth. It could be something as simple as food getting caught between your tooth and gum. Grab some dental floss and go to work. And rinse real well with mouthwash to remove the possibility of any potential infection from aggressive flossing.

Not a bad name for “what’s her name’s, big thinga-m’jig, hanging from the doo-hickey.” I knew you weren’t going to give it the more reasonable selection that I think it should be. Ooohhhh, well…

That whole employer pet peeve issue is bunk. I’ve sat in more than a few meetings with the suits; the language gets colorful and downright offensive (lots of non-PC metaphors). And don’t even get me started about what goes on in the gym locker rooms and out on the golf course. So, it goes back to the old “those who live in glass houses” saying.

And you’d think all the cursing goes on just between men. In or out of the boardroom. Let me tell you men DO NOT have the monopoly on bad language. Nor do men own the sexual innuendo market. I could tell you all kinds of stories of women leading the charge in both categories.

Personally, I do not get offended when it comes to cursing. Am an ex-Navy sailor, where cursing in the workplace was practically encouraged.

Now gossip is what kills me. I’m talking about the negative, malicious type of gossip. I’ve seen good office relationships go into the toilet because of negative gossip. And I’ve seen people quit and get fired because of it. Talk about damaging a workplace from within. Whew! That’ll do it.

Stealing of my food isn’t a problem. Or hasn’t ever been before. Maybe because I prefer to take fruit and “concoctions” (drinks that I make at home and put in a plastic bottle to drink throughout the day) and they seem to ward off evildoers.

Remember this people; we ALL go to work because we have bills to pay and things we want to accomplish with the money we earn. Let’s try not to do things that would interrupt those purposes in other people’s lives. Because they’re at work for the same reason as we are. If we didn’t have to work, we’d ALL be sunning ourselves at some beach resort, sipping mai tai’s. (Probably cursing and spreading rumors about the seagulls flying overhead.)

Comment by Darren

I am addicted to Fox and Friends - I watch every morning then listen on Sirius in the car on my way to work then at work. However, this morning I missed the story about Alzheimer’s. This disease has struck so many in my family and I try to keep up with what are hopefully break throughs.

Thanks

when i was a supervisor..eating at work didnt bother me as long as they were not talking to outsiders/customers. more annoying to me was personal phone callls. they always seemed to last too long..
hope there arent a lot of deaths from that crane falling.
Obamas friends just keep comming out of the closet. to me, its just not possible he can associate with the people he does and not have the the same feelings. maybe not as strong..but the feelings are there. especially in his wife, who will have a lot of influence over him.

Good Morning,

I just have to tell you that Rick and Bubba pretty much ruined my morning routine of watching F&F with my coffee before going to work. I usually am only tuned in from 6:45 to 7:15am, and they were on practically the whole time and I really didn’t feel like hearing their redneck jokes to start my day. I am from Cincinnati and I never heard of Rick and Bubba and don’t care to watch them for 25 mintues. I wanted to see some news or at least something that interested me, and I actually flipped to another station when they were STILL ON at 7:00am after the break! I’m assuming they are very popular, but a little bit of them goes a long way if you don’t know them. Whew!

Comment by Barbara in Pensacola, FL

For Bonnie in Cincinnati: first, get that stick out of your butt! You may not know Rick and Bubba - and personally I don’t listen to them either but they are people just trying to make it in this world just like you and me. They are from the south and they do redneck jokes to nauseum. But why don’t you just try and go with the flow instead of complaining about people you don’t know. Rick lost his 3 year old son last year to drowning and had the courage to give a eulogy at his son’s funeral. He has gone on with his life with his grief and with the admiration of all who heard about his plight. So, if they ruined your morning trying to entertain other people who got a laugh this AM, too bad for you. A little bit of you goes a long way also.

Comment by Marshall

I like Rick & Bubba! It was good to see them this morning because it has been a long time since Turner South was sold to Fox Sports and their radio show stopped being televised.

F&Fs has some guest I don’t care for at all (Dick Morris for example) but I struggle through and make it to the next segment of the show, so I guess it all balances out in the end…..

Comment by Carlos Martinez

I don’t like mean people in general but it worse when a fellow employee carries his problems from home to work. Now, I don’t want to seem unsympathetic, but the truth is that some people can be extremely touchy when something is going on and they allow it to manifest itself in the wrong direction.
I do love my job (applications engineer), our home office is in New York and we’re in California (yeah baby!) and we do laugh a lot here.
So, mean people at work should be shot!

If Pleger’s sermon was a segment on Comedy Central it actually would have been hilarious. He kind of sounded like Chris Rock. He has no business being a priest and whoever sponsored his visit to Obama’s church should be ashamed.

We love Rick and Bubba at our house, and it was great to see them this morning. Actually, we saw them last night on Hannity and Colmes, too, but were pleasantly surprised to see them with y’all again this morning. We do get their radio program here, and it’s really a good show. They are hilarious–but they are also intelligent, entertaining, and so in touch with the thought process of most of us folks out here in flyover country. If you missed their humor, then you’re the one who lost out! Also, if you didn’t see or hear the eulogy Rick gave at his son’s funeral, you missed one of the most powerful presentations ever given from a podium or pulpit. (Obama’s reverend friends should be taking notes from Rick.) Thanks for giving them a little bit of “extra” time.
