I think Scott had 3 interest at work, money, pay-back and self-promotion. He has sealed his fate with the GOP but the left will now welcome him with open arms, not if they are bright, but that’s not something I tend to grant the left.

If you are going to stab the guy in the back who gave you a great job that you weren’t suited for, let’s face it you’ll stab anyone.

Welcome Audra, remember to keep track of you rsanity. There is no hat check girl to do that for you.

I wrote about Scott on my blog Ali, it has to be money. Right now he is not trusted by any GOP and a democrat or independent would have to worry about him doing the same thing again.

Scott McClellan should have left along time before he did if he was feeling like he said in his book. Why didn’t he leave then and why wait to write this book now? Maybe he stayed because he felt he could gather more information for his book. For the amount of stuff he put in it he must have known for some time that he was going to be writing this book.

For the new intern, Audra, you couldn’t be teamed up with a better mentor.

I have not actually researched this very much so I am coming from just the little I have heard.

I just wonder why he did not reveal this information when he was in his position. If he had done it THEN, perhaps something could have been done about it. But the world usually does not treat whistle blowers very well even when they act in the very best interest of everyone. I will read more about this and see if even this would have been possible.

Audra…my advice to you is learn from Alisyn during this internship. It is a really wonderful opportunity for a college student and will carry you far in your future career.

Based on timing, some motivation is political as related to the upcoming election. $$$$$$$$$$$$$? Low IQ?

McClellan’s motive, I doubt was conscience oriented. He just joins the ranks of the “I can make a buck on this if I time it right” crowd. He’s playing to the leftwing, endless supply of money, thrown at anyone that would defect from the Bush administration. I wouldnt be suprised if the publisher of this book was someone with a definite motive to demean the Republican party. I cant think of to many politicians or their appointees that would come close to having a conscience, that would deter them from making a buck or getting revenge they feed on in Washington. This just fits today’s disloyalty that is unfortunately expected in high level politics. Scott’s “my conscience is bothering me” story would have more validity if he had not released the book at such a political pivot in timing. The timing of the book spells it all out. MONEY!!

Scott McClellan’s, Benedict Arnold-esque actions expose his real colors. Bush doesn’t need political enemies with the likes of McClellan in his own ranks. The obvious aspects of writing a tell-all book is a given. But one thing I wonder is, how much of writing the expose book was coerced by a “liberal” within McClellan’s camp? I wonder if McClellan had someone cheering him on to “write more, write more!” over his shoulder. Maybe his original intent was just to write a book. No National Inquirer edge intended. Could his publisher, a close friend, or even a family member egged him on? Or was there a “bonus” for adding mud-slinging?

The Big Picture, I believe, was a World War II PBS type series about the battles of WW II.

As for Brian giving the Commencement Address, tell him that no matter what the subject KEEP IT SHORT.

Just because Scott McClellan wrote a book the whole world of the media is abuzz! I think it was obvious when Ari Fletcher stepped down that McClellan was a fill in. He had no where the pinache of Ari Fletcher or any other White House Press Secretary (Tony Snow comes to mind!). It was obvious, written all over his face. Scott McClellan was another flunky that was in a position to fill the job when Ari Fletcher stepped down until the White house could find a real Press Secretary as they got with Tony Snow.

Therefore, why should some book he (McClellan) wrote get any publicity at all. There are lots of people writing books, everyday. I could write a book, you could write a book. Anybody that has an agenda to promote can write a book, they do it all the time.

I fail to see why people like Scott McClellan, who has an obvious axe to grind, Barck Obama, Hillary Clinton, Geraldo Rivera, Ann Coulter, etc, etc who write a book get so much publicity from the press. They are numerous PhD candidates working on dissertations everyday about subjects that a lot more importance than grinding some axe. What makes these people (the clintons and the Obamas, etc) so important? Why do they deserve all the attention when something useful is going down someplace else.

I’m sorry, maybe my 20 + years in the military left me a bit jaded. I do not get impressed with someone based on their title, their position in whatever heirarchy, or their self imposed importance. I fail to see why they are better than anyone else and deserve all the ballyhoo (to use your own word ), There are a lot of good people out here who go unrecognized day after day, the ones who are doing the real work, those who cinch the belt up another notch, roll up their sleeves, and get the job done! But I don’t hear anything about them! Instead the press jumps on the easy stuff and spreads the vitrolic words and meanings handed out by people like Scott McClellan.

Isn’t it obvious whuy McClellan wrote and released the book now? Then call it what it is! Political BS!

Audra, i’ve been to Sercy and to your college for a tour, years ago…is the memorial to Preacher Roe still there…i think that was his name. Actually spent two summers at Camp Wildwood, it may have closed too… But what ever you do, dont let New York get to you. You have been in a place where it is hard to get in trouble uless you go looking for it, in the city, trouble will come looking for you.

Most of the folks at Fox and Friends are safe. But you’ve really got to watch out for Brian. If he cant explain why people like sports, he could be dangerous. so dont hang out with him without a chaperone. Stick close to Ally and i think you will be in good company. (You know she is gonna get her own show soon because she has become America’s Sweet Heart, and you could become her producer)

I just googled “The Big Picture”. It is a Kevin Bacon movie from 1989 and the title of many articles on a myriad of topics from finance to HIV. It works but isn’t very original. Hopefully we can brainstorm something more catchy.

As to the McClellan story. What another political scandalous mess. Nothing has changed in Washington. Next story please.

Hi Alisyn, I sent several suggestions to name the wall, and they never reached you and i am so upset over this, I know the contest is over. But fox and friends never really clearly said where to submit the suggestions and I kept listening to the show and they never repeated where to send, so I just emailed them to the fox and friends regular email. I sent several suggestions, but my favorite was to call the media screen MILLI - and the room MILLENIUM CENTER, I also suggested calling the screen THE PELICAN. I probably would not have won anyway, but it would have been nice to have been heard. NEXT time you guys have a contest please specify more on where to send the comments.

i totally missed the topic it would seem scott mc lellan wrote this for money what other motivation could he have in my opinion he was never that effective he was always stammring over his answers. i see no one has come to his defense. in reality everyone seems to be against him and are just as puzzled as anyone as to why he did it

The Big Picture was produced by the US Army and was aired from 1951 to 1960 or so. I remember watching it as a kid. You googled it wrong. Try adding “tv” after Big Picture. It was full of pics of all sorts of military things and most likely propaganda…but i loved it as a kid.

I agree totally with Jester. All these kooks need to hop on the next mars exploration vehicle and go live in their own utopia.

Scott Mc”Tellin’” appears to me as someone who has no real talents or abilities of their own but was able to hitch a ride to popularity and prosperity on the coattails of others. But, then he woke up one day and the ride had come to and; so too ended his popularity and prosperity.
He should be outfitted with one of those big baby diapers (he probably already has some) and put out on the Whitehouse lawn with his little sun bonnet & binky… so he can more appropriately throw his little tantrum.

You know, I remember this man being loathed and lambasted by the far left bloggers and web site contributors. I saw cartoons and characitures of him with all sorts of unflattering embellishments on sites like Huffington Post and Daily Kos. There was a daily ridicule of McLellan, complete with really mean nicknames, and an unceasing effort to discredit every word he said. Now… suddenly, he’s believable, completely credible, and no doubt has attained “hero status” with the unhinged Bush haters out there in leftyloonyland.

I have noticed that most extreme liberals think there are two kinds of people in the world; those that agree with them completely, and those who are criminally insane.

Looks like McLellan jumped from one side to the other.

McClellan wrote the book for money and attention, he probably is making out twice book sales and Bush bashers paying him. It makes no sense for anyone to come out with this stuff, true or false when we are still at war. It only makes it that much harder for our great troops to keep their heads up. I am so proud of them standing up for our freedom and saftey even with all the nay sayers.

It’s money pure and simple. He is banking on the popularity of the book, based on GW’s approval ratings. Also, if he wants a chance at a job ever again, he must become a liberal media darling, by puting some distance between himself and his former conservative employers. He now has his bases covered.

McClennen’s book is getting way too much publicity. What’s in it that Bush hasn’t already been accused of? As far as motive, who knows? I doubt if it was his conscience though.

On Scott McClellan’s Book….The motivation may be deeper than just a clearing of his conscience in my opinion. Is it possible that the timing of this little surprise is geared toward helping out the other party?
I hate to sound so cynical, but the way he surprised his closest friends, and fellow employees I wouldn’t be surprised if he was offered enough money that he just put another well timed nail in the coffin of the Republican Party Presidency, knowing full well it could effect the next election coming from someone who was an insider.
To go slightly off the subject, I wouldn’t go here but for the fact that it is mentioned. The Iraq War has and always will be a target for the other party, with basicaly no argument from the Republican Party since they along with everyone in the country was given the wrong information. I accept that. I feel the administration chose to take the fight to them, keeping us safer within our boarders. I hate the fact that people must die for the rights of others, but thats always been their duty. My own Father served proudly.
And because military deaths are always an easy negative for the war argument, may I ask you to do me a favor??? I can’t help but think that while serving all over the world there has to have been military personell killed in the line of duty in a non-wartime senario right? I am curious as to how many of our military personell died during the Carter, Regan, Bush 1, and Clinton years. GW is just getting hammered about it, and although one death is too many, it never seems to get beyond the number of deaths we have had so far in this war. How do the deaths in Afaganistan, and Iraq, or anywhere else stack up against the other administrations I mentioned? Any clue?

Ohhh! First time blogging with Alisyn. This is exciting! Anyhoo, about “Scott McClellan’s Motive”… the first time I heard about this was actually while I was flipping through channels (while F&F was on a commercial) and I came across another network that was bashing Bush, how unusual, and rooting on the ol’ Scottinator. He’s got another thing coming for him if he truly thinks he can flood Bush supporters ears. I guess he forgot to think of the other side of things and others opinions who actually were in the same office as him. So far, he’s still a loser and I’m taking a big leap here - but he may remain one.

And welcome Audra! One day when you move on to bigger and better things and I finish up with my Journalism major, just maybe I can scoot myself up there too! But for now, I’ll be 19 with a dream.
