Open Blog Friday
First, I want to thank all the students from Lake Crystal that wrote with their firsthand defense of their Spanish teacher Ms. Ehlers and her tradition of allowing students (with parental consent) to drink Sangria on their annual trip to Spain. It’s always nice to hear from people directly involved in the news story we’re debating. Your’s is an invaluable perspective we should all keep in mind as we judge from afar.
Now, who has a firsthand perspective on chocolate-covererd bacon? Anyone? When we saw a photo of this delicacy today, well we knew we MUST bring it up on FOX & Friends First. Two great tastes that taste great together, I say! Anyone have another odd (but winning!) food combo you’d like to share? What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever combined to great effect?

Good morning Ms. Alisyn,
Friday’s finally here.
I have a question if I may. Do you have any idea of, on average, the number of hits the Greenroom gets?
I also notice that each day another of the old most hit blogs gets bumped off the list and that days blog takes it place.
It will also be interesting to see how an open weekend will work out.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the kids.
chas
I do have an idea of how many hits it gets and I’m told it’s one of the most popular and fastest growing on the website. You guys are making In the Greenroom a big sucess!
Good Morning Alysin and Chas….:)
Morning Virginia!
I make this meat roll that people think odd, but it is tasty.
The short version is you make a meatloaf and then spread it out in a large flat square. Then you layer ham, spinish, cheese on it.
Next you roll it up like a jelly roll and bake it in a 350 oven until done. Time depends upon tase and amount of meat. 3lbs takes about 1.5 hours.
Sounds odd, but looks cool as the swirls in the middle show and taste really good.
chas
ps, you can have my covered bacon, I like the bacon but have no use for sweets.
Sounds good! Can you send a roll of meat to the Greenroom?
Good morning Ms. Virginia.
chas
Good morning Ms. Alisyn,
Not that I have anything against Jenna Bush getting married….(good for her). But how much is this wedding costing the US tax payers? Secret Service, etc.????
I have another question? How does a guy like me, 43 year old CAD Technician, get a chance to talk to a woman like Lilian Garcia from the WWE? She is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen (next to you of course) in my life! Any answers?
Pat
Um…call her? Or better yet maybe she has a blog!
Alysin and Chas….where did Marshall go? I went to yesterdays spot just two seconds before this new question was ask..still sipping first cupa, so the typing is slow!!!
Yeah, he’s missing in action! Alert the media! Wait, that’s me.
I enjoy penut butter and banana sandwiches and chedder cheese with apple pie. I first tried it with my grandfather while having desert and at first I thought it was gross, but once I tried it I immediately thought it was quite tasty.
Have a sparkling weekend.
Laurie
I like those too! Apple and cheese is a great combo. And now when I eat a banana without peanut butter, they miss each other.
Hey! Hey! Hey! And TGIF!!!!!
You are lookin’ good on this Friday morn! I saw that chocolate covered bacon and that just doesn’t float my boat. In fact, I almost barfed just looking at it! Hmmmm…….strangest food I’ve tried……. Well, there was that time I went on a wild Spam hunt at the Piggly Wiggly.
Phew…he’s back.
Just last weekend for the after prom - I was asked to make bacon wrapped smokies. Pork wrapped in pork and stuck with a toothpick. So, three pounds of bacon and hundreds of smokies later. (you cover them in brown sugar and bake for 35 mintues). You have all these little greasy things. I thought I should taste one just to be sure they were ok. WELL - they were delicious and I couldn’t leave them alone.
I’ve been on school trips as a chaparone - we’ve never received any instructions - we never got certain kids we were assigned too. We go to be there for our own kids. Fortunately, there has never been a problem…but we didn’t let them drink and I wouldn’t want that responsibility for someone else’s child.
Alisyn - we LOVE you! Have a great weekend.
Pat….good morning. The wedding doesn’t cost the tax payer anything. The people around the family to protect them work everyday regardless. The president is allowed a life outside of his duties as the president, so the children may go to school, and the mall, and a job, and get married. This question has been ask by others, and it always surprises me. A better question would be, how much did we pay to have Jimmy and Nancy and other fools traipse around the world with a questionable agenda tucked in their hat.
If this is Match Maker Friday, tell us about that Fox Business Channel babe. What’s her story and how does she feel about lecherous older men?
I make this concoction for my daughter Alisyn
Add to small Blender
I/2 cup of chocolate fudge
Four bananas
Quarter cup of soft whipped peanut butter
Fill to top with Vanilla Ice Cream
Blend to smooth.
You can also boost flavor with a teaspoon of Vanilla extract
And a dab of honey.
Calories are off the scale but anything worth eating is:
Ali- Have a great weekend. Blackhawk Chris
Alliblogers,
I just posted and it went to the DBB. I must be on someone “S” list. BTW, stop F5ing. Refresh using the Ying-Yang symbol to the right of the address bar.
Will Penny
I tried to make that Elvis peanut butter and banana sandwich from a recipe I found on the internet. I must have done something wrong because that was a soggy mess and made me want to sing All Shook Up.
Good morning again…ah! Coffee, yes. And sleepy head for sure. I watched Burn Notice last nite, so didn’t actually go to sleep until after midnight…that’s my excuse and I am stickin tuit!!!
One can eat bacon and peanut butter with anything. My friends have been totally yukked out by my combinations, untill they ventured a bit…with wide eyes of deliciousness and stunned that it would be good. I think my mom was very inventive, what with the traveling and the depression years also, when there was little to sustain at times.
Good Morning Alisyn, and Bloggers,
I missed the letter written by the students of Lake Crystal. Perhaps fellow bloggers can point me in the right direction??????
Chas, I hate to be a nit picker, LOL but your economic comparisons of the Clinton administration and the Bush administration, on face, seems inaccurate. Of course you didn’t site exactly what years, stats, etc you were comparing and there are thousands of ways to slice up the math.
I know my republican hubby who is a vice president of a fortune 300 company wishes he could channel Clinton back to the white house. ( He is in the builder cabinet business …. new home starts). LOL So that is saying something. ! I wouldn’t mind it either ..;-) Those bonuses were pretty nice!
Peace out all enjoy your day!
Curses, foiled again.
I tried re-posting my first post and got (what I call) the “Go to Hell- Its looks like you have already posted.”
That is why I have taken to writing in Word first. Just because I self-disclosed that I was classified as MR 40 plus years ago Will not deter MR Penny.
Alli, I request you take out a can of “Whup-Ass” (ask Steve for one - I believe POTUS gave him some on 42408) on those web page mavens.
Digital Love from an angry and frustrated,
Will Penny
Awwww, I forgot… About the dog owner who was sued. If the owner does not obey a leash law (assuming there is one) and the dog damages someones car, the owner is responsible, right? Blackhawk Chris
Ms. Alisyn,
Despite al the bacon receipes, here’s a secret worthy of news.
Billary will be hee in southern WV today, School kids wll be forced out in the rain to make a crowd, along with some of the “old dog” Democrats, and people who will never again get such a thrill to see the former Prasident. To hear a speech of promotion for his wife.
I just wonder, if bacon and jelly would be a good meal for the former President?
Have a good day.
Alisyn, peanut butter on white bread and a glass of Chardonnay, good combo.
Sal
I don’t think a 13 pound dog could do much damage and I bet the guy was speeding so that would speak to a shared negligence in the dog’s death. I want to see pictures of the accident scene with measurements of skid marks, any nearby stop signs or traffic lights. I think this case could be turned around and the guy will regret ever bringing this frivolous lawsuit!!!!!
Hi everyone…I have to read fast! Anything covered in chocolate must be good? Oh yes, I am sure of that…it must be so. Pork of any sort can be fixed with just about anything, just use the imagination, and have fun. Chas…I have done this with the meatloaf, and one can continue to layer until the fridge is empty of any this or that which may be lurking in the corners…yummmm! Everyone likes it, and I some times don’t tell what I have done, so as not to get a premature desicion (someone tell me how to spell this word!! geezzz!) regarding the tast buds. One must be very inventive with all those kiddies and not always as many dollar bills as one might think they needed…as it happens, a needless worry as their was always just exactly what was needed, as promised. Yep…..for sure! lol
Good Morning Alisyn and Friends.
Sal
Good morning Sal….and also a nice midnite snack when one just can’t go to sleep exactly and hungry for something…yes, many times…with a little mayo added, yummmy for the tummy for absolutely!! This is making me hungry for all things peanute butter and chocolate!!!
Virginia, regarding the wedding of the president’s daughter, I totally agree with you on your reply. I wanted to reply myself, but you couldn’t have said it better.
Have a great day.
Laurie
Will…what did you hit instead of F5? I didn’t understand…lol
Alisyn…good morning! Where is this letter from the kids you mention? I have F&F taping as I missed the first hour already. Perhaps it’s something that was read on the air or is this a letter you posted somewhere on the Fox website?
About weird food combinations. We thought this was the weirdest thing when it was suggested to us, but it’s really good actually. Take your favorite brand of Salt and Vinegar potato chips and you use canned creamed corn for your “dip”. Don’t knock it till you try it. It’s pretty amazing.
Good morning everyone! Have a great Friday.
Laurie…this question has been ask, in not very nice terms, a zillion times, and I am always astonished! It is amazing that people forget he is also a citizen, and the presidency is his job. They are watching him brush his teeth practically…geeezzzz!!! But, anything to gotcha the guy by some who just can’t ge over it. Not you Pat…just those that are sooooooooo ready to slam him about everything. They see nothing wrong with the Rush issue and the senate taking up time to threaten him, while our soldiers are fighting a war! What a group they all are, and no wonder their numbers are in the toilet!!! I am thrilled for our president, and I hope they have a joyous time at this wedding for their most precious daughter, and I pray for their happiness and a very good life. They deserve this moment for sure. I would have quite and gone home if a group of people were so absoultel mean and hateful at every turn…yes, I would!!!!
Sheila,
Your recipe cracks me up! LOL That is a crazy combo, but after being on a NO JUNK FOOD “health plan hahah” for 4 months it sounds delicious! LOL
Good morning Sheila…yes, it would be. Potatoes and corn are good, so this would be good. I think one must stretch their imagination, and not get tooooo tanlgled up in the packaging. lol
I am on a “S” list and I don’t mean special. I just tried re-re-posting my first entry and got the GTH message from Word Press. I wrote another posting sans Word and it went to the DBB.
About this point I start to lose my sense of humor and interest.
WP
Gee Ms. Alisyn,
Is the number a F&F Top Secret?
chas
Let’s see…Peanut butter spread on a banana makes a good snack, especially before hitting the gym. Then there was the time I tried dunking a chocolate biscotti cookie in a glass of merlot. Don’t ask me why I did it, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted! Oh, Virginia, my mom used to make us peanut butter and bacon sandwiches for dinner on occasion. They were very good!
Ms. Lori,
I was stating, if memory serves, on my own personal circumstances. Prior to this downturn, and actually even during it I have more of my pay in my pocket and enough to actually have a savings account.
And my income to living cost remains close to the same as it was then.
So like most I “slice it” based upon my situation.
chas
Anyone watching F&F right now. They just showed a clip of Alex Baldwin’s interview saying that he may consider one day running for office. LOL grief. Heck, why not? Everyone else seems to think they can do it. It’s becoming like the Idol show, a popularity contest only? but no, that would make no sense as I had not seen nor heard of Obama until this election. either I’m sheltered or he was basically a no body.
Oh,,,,my smiley lines are in place and I blush a bit…good morning to you also Alysin, and Marshall is here, finally, as well as the rest of the group! And we are ready for the day, and you do look beautiful, to no surprise….:)
Will,
I don’t know what GTH and DBB means but maybe the post you are tying to enter is too large? Or if there is a screen on this site, maybe one of the words, or names in your post is tossing you out???? Maybe? Just a thought.
Good Morning
If Obama is elected what cabinet seat will Resko be given? Has anyone found out where the donation money went and in whos name it was given?
Have a wonderful weekend
Good morning everyone.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like either pork or sugar?
Frozen chocolate covered bananas on a stick are good.
I just have to get something off my chest.
The music being played during your news segment - reminds me of some of the background music from Fight Club.
Is it 5:00 yet……….
No Dog, while I like pork I have no use for sweets.
chas
Will there be any musical guest on the AtSS today?
RE: Chas, ok gotcha. I knew you weren’t trying to mislead your fellow bloggers.
As our personal income rose during the Clinton administration obviously our tax bill did as well, the extra 2500 Bush’s tax cut gave us was negated because we lost the ability to “claim our children” due to our income level sooooo not so much of an advantage to us if I based my opinion JUST on taxes paid.
Sheila…it’s on, but, I was so excited about Alysin saying Hi to me, I missed It!!!!!!
Alec Baldwin could do this, couldn’t he? He saved the world and got the sub as I recall..yep, he did. Wasn’t that a documentary??? Oh dear, maybe it was a movie, and he thinks he is now tooled and ready for the job. That must be it, and as we have watched Alec, I am sure he thinks that just might qualify him too. Sure…if he doesn’t leave the country, as threatened…like we thought he would ever choose that. Although, I am sure he doesn’t scare me at all…considering our choices at this moment, we could just do a write in campaign for him, and then not worry about it at all…he could get his writers to script the next four years….yes, that would also be an excellent plan. IF we have decided to ditch “the judge” and Tony Snow, that is, my recent write in plan that got absolutely no notice. I had Alysin in Nancy’s spot, and it would have to be better, as I have never seen Alysin chewing and blinking…and she would be smart and pretty all at once!!!!!
I like pork sausage on a biscuit with apple jelly. So, I guest I like both pork and sweets, but I don’t want a chocolate covered pork chop.
chas, can’t remember if I said anything yesterday or not, but I did visit your site. thanks for pointing it out. The front picture just grabbed me. My son, who is a history buff, walked behind me and said “where did you get that picture? what’s it of?” He had me bookmark it so he can reference later. It looks like a very important project. Thank your wife for us.
Back to the topic of the day… chocolate and pork. I have to admit I have never tried the chocolate and bacon thing, however, I do like sausage with syrup. Has anyone tried Goetta? It’s a sausage type food that is really common here, but most people have never heard of it. It’s very good fried and we eat it with syrup. Weird, but tasty.
I also lost my kids deduction not long ago, but some of the bills went away with them…lol
I call that a win/win.
chas
I thought Alec was supposed to leave the country after Bush was re-elected. What is holding him back?

Just to the right of the “address bar” (if I am not confusing my terms), the hypertext protocol bar (http), wedged in between the down-arrow and the big red X are Ying and Yang.
This has Ying, Yang, and Yo in it. I’m in a hurry. This is the quickest one I could find.

P.S. Weirdest food to great effect: haggis and scotch (single malt not a blend)
Big headline on Fox about the Myanmar relief effort. The government there just confiscated the food the UN sent over. what’s up with that? The UN needs to be dissolved, but that’s besides the point here. I feel for the good people there that need help but what can you do when it never gets to them? Make drops at night?
my daughter enjoys mustard with her scrambled eggs.
did not post the arrows I inserted. I am annoyed. Two great missives and those turds at Word Press nuc’ed them.
Will Penny
Chas: LOL well my children didn’t leave, just the tax deduction did.. LOL
Shelia, I have had scrapple, is that close to the pork dish you are referring to?
The Democratics are destroying their party by backing a man that has no experience and shows bad judement, if they want the American people to support Obama and his anti American associates, their crazy, Clinton should take it to the Democratic convention, she is the better candidate, and she can win, you cant go to the convention with 48 States, and you have to count Florida and Michigan, or the American people would have no other choice other then to vote for McCain.
Sal
alisyn,
Sorry to bother you. Some of the children from Brian’s soccer team did not get to see the after the show show video. Is there any way to view it on the web site.
Thanks so much!!!!
Ah! All things sweet, and it is even better if it is junk sweet…that would be all the funny little things like, the big candy peanuts, the little chicks at Easter, the huge bag of sugar jellies…yes, sooooo yummy. You are missing out Chas!!! :):) Mother’s day! Geezzz, I forgot..it is upon us, again. My co-worker ask me once how come I didn’t weight three hundred pounds as she watched me stuff my mouth with all this yummy candy. No fat…zero I discovered, which made it all the more good…despite the sugar content. Yep! YUMMMM to the max! Once I am over the event of much stuffing, however, I don’t want any more for a while. I also prefer my hershey chocolate bar in the one pound version. The heck with the bite size or the regular size bar. Let get tuit if the chocolate is the craving!!!! And a bottle of Merlot to go with it!!!!!!!!! Another midnite snack that satisfies the tummy. Yep…life is good for sure. lol The cursor is all over the place, again! It must be the puter ghost at work again………..:)
Lori, I have no idea what scrapple is? We have that brand in a drink here. let me see if I can find a link for the goetta. The best brand is Gliers. Homemade stuff is not the same and neither is this low-fat version they are starting to sell. You have to try the real stuff. OK, the web address is goetta dot com. The opening picture shows the new packaging which is in sausage looking rolls. If you ever get a chance to try it though, it’s best in the bulk form which is cut in a “brick” block form.
Anyone know where this student letter is located that Alisyn is mentioning?
Jenna Bush getting married….good for her and good for them for keeping it private.
Happy Mothers Day Alisyn.
Sal
Good morning Sal…oh yes they can. The interesting part will be, will they? We watch and wait to see how they handle this. Hillary would be the better of the two…less scary, but only marginally. Her agenda is also a socialist/Marxist bent, but, her main agenda is Hillary, so since that be the case, I tend to be less afraid of her. No one likes the Alec plan? or the judge and Tony and Alysin plan? Oh well…..I thought it surely was the solution to all our woes!!! lol
The only food combinations i know are bacon with more bacon and pork with lots of gravy. By the way, Alisyn , you looked terrific in the ATSS thur with that slit skirt. Now that’s a tasty combination.
Sheila….I love your posts. They are smart, and informed and well written. I am challenged to keep up with you!!!
I noticed your comment yesterday, so I thought I would just tell you…NOT at all. You are excellent in every area and I wait to see what you might be musing at the moment…yes, I do! lol
Weird food combinations = a co-workers swears by dill pickle and peanut butter sandwiches. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m curious.
Thanks Ms. Sheila and thanks for the reminder.
If I may do a short post on a project for our guys called Quilts Of Valor. The link which you can get to by clicking on my name, will explain it much better than my poor abilities at writting could accomplish.
The short version is this. Most of our guys who are wounded in battle do not come right home. Thaey are sent for treatment in Germany until they are well enough to return home.
During this stay these ladies, which includes my wife, make patriotic designed quilts that the guys are given.
These quilts are well received by the guys all of which are sent with a letter of thanks for their service.
Please check out their site as these are all doing this on their own and any help, be it material, money or other support would be helpful.
Thank you one and all for you time.
respectfully,
chas

P.S. I could have been to large, but I have posted larger. See yesterday’s recap of my missives explaining the inevitability of the Clinton-Obama ticket.
Good Morning,
I am just trying to make a little sense of the tragedy in Myanmar. After hearing the death toll of over 100,000, the images that I have seen do not show the bodies. Immediate images from the Tsunami showed bodies everywhere, and for weeks afterwards. I am not doubting there were deaths, but I do question the amount. Is this the reason the Junta will allow other relief organizations in, but only allow supplies. What do you think.
Have a good one,
Todd
Rocco and his mother are cooking on F&F. I think we have lost Alisyn for the day. You know she is going to be hanging out with the food!!
I am surprised no one has mentioned combining bacon with peanut butter. mmmm….
I thought it sounded strange the first time I heard of it, but then tried it and it is good. In Hawaii pork and peanut butter are combined a lot. It is good.
Now we know that chocolate and bacon go together, and Reese’s long ago proved chocolate and peanut butter go together, so maybe combining the three together would be good. Bacon wrapped Reeses’ peanut butter cups anyone?
I clicked on last nite and it is a very worthy endeavor for sure, and although I have heard about this, I will now participate in it….another little thing that has happened while being laid up with this ankle. What was just an interesting and worthy endeavor calls me to do more. I guess it was time to be gone from the world of TLC twenty four seven? Well….God could have thought of a different heads up method. Perhaps he did, and I wasn’t listening? Probably!!! I am listening now for sure…geezzzz!!!!! Hello Virginia!!!!!!! I be listening, ok? No more weird events, pleeeaaassseeee dear Lord!!!!!! :):):):) Yikes!!!
Alisyn,
Could you post the three things that the Resume expert listed? I only caught the last two. Thanks. You guys are great!!
Oh Mike…I think it has been mentioned, but, if not it surely should be added to the list of all things yummmy! lol
Fellow bloggers:
I am a life long dem and a former delegate, and happen to live in Michigan, after moving from Texas recently.
It was announced a year ago our delegates would not be seated because Michigan had chosen to move it’s primary date. There were no campaigns, no signs, no tv ads, all presidential candidates took their name OFF the ballot except for Clinton, because they were instructed to by the dem party leaders according to the rules. Clinton’s name appeared because her campaign waited too long to submit the paper work. We couldn’t have voted for Edwards, Obama, Biden even if we WANTED to.
There was also an informal suggestion that we should vote for Romney, because it was widely thought Mc Cain would be the more difficult opponent. (Mr. Rush was not the first to launch operation Chaos) Many democrats in Michigan did just that.
The primary process is not one person one vote, the nominee is chosen by the ELECTED delegates, who are NOT bound to vote for the candidate with the most votes in their state. They are free to vote for whomever they wish after the first round.
Last but not least, even IF MI and FL delegates were seated today, as is, Obama would still be ahead in delegates.
So bottom line Clinton stay Clinton leave, it makes no difference, the delegates at the convention will chose. (Both “super” and “elected”). Either way it won’t and isn’t destroying the party, it hasn’t been until recent that the democratic nominee was decided before the convention, and we have won many elections. Rest assured all will be well with us, and we will be ready to fight the fight in November.
xoxoxoxo
Peace out all..
Alisyn,
I just got a psychic message from your children (Gee, I hope it was from them and not just the voices are back) and they asked me to make a post on their behalf.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!

Have a great mother’s day Alisyn!!
I guess if the bacon is crisp - it would taste good with the chocolate because of that salty sweet taste combo. Would not be my first choice of a sweet treat. I do love ketchup on my scrambled eggs and my family thinks that is weird.
Stanford on lock down…gunman on the loose. Let us arm our campuses already! GEEEEZZZZZ! lol Eleven killed already? Did I hear that right? Oh my goodness….life is dangerous, another reminder……lol And spring is upon us with might storms and much mayhem.

Peanut butter on a cheesburger is great.
French Fries with tartar sauce is a must.
Add a fried egg and cheese on a BLT (I call it a sandwich salad)
I’ve not tried this, but our elementary students in the cafeteria put ranch dressing on pizza.
