That was very nice and made me very hungry for some meat balls!

Ya know, I have always heard that a good chef always taste the food while they prepare it and that is great. But, I didn’t know they licked the spoon they were working with and stuck it back in the pot. 8O

ali good atss you looked realy great and like you were really enjoying the pasta i must say i make a great pasta gravy myself and its always fun to have your family around to enjoy it with you i will definitely try mamas recipe for meatballs

have a wonderful weekend and happy mothers day to you

Comment by Virginia

Marshall honey….just don’t think about it. All good things coming from the kitchen have been tasted and poked with a finger, and stirred with a wooden spoon, no doubt, and sliced and diced on the wooden cutting board, and set aside for hours until time to add to said dish, probably on the counter top that the cat possibly has explored whilst one slumbered? all the while wiping everything off with that darn spong!!! Yikes!!!!!! You may never eat again. Them thar meat balls were rolled, you know, with “hands” possibley having been wiping off the baby five minutes ago, and/or, every kid in sight “gets” to enter in the fun of rolling the needed meat balls. You definitely need to chill..not to worry. Here I am, having survived it all. Yep! No fear, I say…..lol

Hello Pat….:)

Comment by Virginia

Where is Chas…he sent me over here, as I was waxing into the oblivion that often is present when the gods and ghosts are lurking around and F5 and double click are not working! lol

Comment by Virginia

Happy Mother’s Day Alysin and a wonderful weekend of rest while that family sees to you for a change!!!!! lol

Comment by chas

I always have a piece of bread around to dunk it in the gravy. It gives me a better feel for how it will taste on the pasta.

chas

Comment by Virginia

Well yes Chas…an important addition to every meal. The bread is the pusher, the scooper upper of anything left on the plate, and good for the left over of said gravy or anything good on the stove. Yes….bread, the staff of life for all those reasons and more! lol

Comment by chas

Actually I was still hanging out at the open blog…lol

Make up your mind. ;)

Comment by Virginia

Chas…I see that. My skills are getting a work out scurrying from one spot to the other!!! Geeezzzz! Would you guys pick a spot and stay put!!!! :) :):) It’s like shopping with my girlfriend, who just wonders off with no notice! I used to stand in the middle of the store and shout her name. Thankfully that most embarrassing event…you would have thought she would have knocked it off after the fifteenth time it happened…..cell phones came into our life, so she is never further away than a phone call. :) My other girlfriend went shopping with the missing one, lost her in the store, and went out to the car to wait for her, forgetting about her cell phone altogether which was off and tucked safely in her purse, and doing no one any good, as disappearing friend had called her multiple times, no doubt fearing she had been kidnapped by white slavers and was at that moment being put in the hold of the pirate ship, with the very, very, very, handsome Tobias rushing to her rescue…oh my……..it’s the hot water and the piggies. I lost my head again!!!! Geezzzzzzzzzzzz!! lol

Good afternoon Virginia and chas

i was over at the open blog reading everyones comments. Alis blog has really taken off. I
am really happy for her. i dont feel she gets the recognition she should.

chas your recipe for the meat roll sounds delicious and i will definitely try it and let you know how i like it. i try lots of new recipes and am always open to new tastes. one of my favorites as mentioned on the other blog is peanut butter and bacon sandwiches which i absolutely love. I was actually surprised to see how many people like it also I guess when you dont venture out into that great big world you dont see a lot of opinions

virginia your posts are always delightful to read and full of wit and humor i notice a few others on today that are very interesting also and poor will seems to be having not such a great day in fact he sounded kind of cranky maybe some time in his hammock away from all this madness will make him feel better

Comment by Virginia

Hi Pat…I scurry from site to site searching for the group. I think you are right about Will…I am so jealous, still! Sounds sooooo nice for sure. My pedicure is complete and I can now view the piggies without disdain, as can everyone else, which could be why she gave me the pedicure to begin with???? Now, about the nails and hair!!!!!!! After four weeks in the wheely chair, some attention is also needed in those areas for sure…….lol

Comment by Virginia

Oh Chaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssss!! Where are you??????? lol

Comment by Lori

Good afternoon bloggers:

Alyson did look as though she was enjoying her breakfast! Gretchen on the other hand wasn’t feeling the love I don’t think..LOL

We should suggest Fox open a chat area. It sure would be a lot easier than trying to carry on conversations in a blog. This forum makes people trying to converse look like rambling idiots, because of the delay and lost threads! LOL I guess it isn’t meant to be conducive to chats. Oh well!

Comment by Virginia

I must go in search of the missing Chas…be right back..lol

Comment by Virginia

I am back in the land of F5. Chas is over on open Friday spot..but, I am still fussing with the puter gods and ghosts….:( I will scurry back and see if it is better in the other spot. lol

Comment by chas

OK, now I am here because of no post be added to the friday open blog.

I typed the same thing over 5 times and still don’t see it.

Hi Pat.

chas

Comment by Lori

Im having difficulty posting too. This type of forum makes one look like a looney toon! LOL Answering voices that aren’t there, or repeating oneself 15 times..LOL I prefer monitored chat areas. I guess this isn’t meant for “chatting”.

Comment by Virginia

Chas….whew!!! I am here and you are right. Was it about this same time yesterday when things were a little funny re: things posting…I had just gotten back from doctors, and grandpa and the baby girl had just left for his…yes, I think so. Hummm…lol

Comment by Virginia

Hi Lori….yes, I think it is something they are doing at this moment…or, Dog said something about a “band” of something being too big…I would have to look back and see what she said..but, I don’t want to go backwards again, so I think I’ll just stay right here! lol

Comment by Lori

Yes, bandwidth I think he said. We should Fox open a monitored chat room for the election season. LOL That would be a lot easier!

Comment by Virginia

Lori…yes it is, and usually works just fine. Actually, this is a new program. It used to be comment….wait, go to the store, clean the bathroom, have your hair done…and maybe your comment would show. We were thrilled when it changed, so take heart. I went back and read…27 yrs marriage, not age! Geezz!!!! And a trip to China. I am so excited for you and your family. And at such a historical moment. This is just too nice. We will all be waiting anxiously to hear all about it. lol

Comment by Virginia

Lori….have you checked out Dogs site yet? I think you would enjoy it…from your comments, you are smart and a quick wit. Yep, I betcha you would have a good time over there as well. I have looked, but, not commented yet…I will, however. It should be fun also. lol

Comment by Lori

Thanks Virginia,

I am not sure how many of us are going to go. It’s a busy time of year for us, so we will have to see. His business associates have been asking us for years to be their guests, and I keep declining, I am sure I’ve insulted them, but whatcha gonna do? To be honest I’m not that interested in going.

i think one of the most relaxing things is a pedicure it just seems so decadent to sit there and have your tootsies taken care of the whirlpool, the massage, ahhhhhhhhhhhh it is heavenly

you should try it chas it really is quite relaxing i went to your wifes site on the quilting tell her God bless her for what she is doing I will put in my two cents in one way or another to try and help out she is doing a wonderful thing and must be a special lady

my son was a career man in the air force and i remember when he was over in kuwait in the firs gulf war and he was hurt (not battle related) you feel so helpless and its wonderful to know there are people like your wife looking out for our fine young people

i like this type of forum rather than chatting because it is well monitored in chat rooms it can get really rough

Comment by Lori

I have read some of his site. There is a whole lotta passion there, I will say that! LOL

Comment by Virginia

Oh, how impatient we have become. Remember when you had to wait for the weekend to call grandma and grandpa, and then after ten or so, and only could talk for a second? Then you rushed to your room, pen and paper in hand to write a letter with everything else you wanted to tell them? Now, we expect instant messaging and are just so sad :( :( when it fails. Yes…we are just not to be pleased at all. :)

Comment by PAT NEW PORT RICHEY FL

Lori

are you concerned with all the unrest over there when your husband and if your kids would be going

my youngest son works for a company that makes military radios and goes to a lot of places that i make myself crazy over like republic of georgia and columbia but he tells me he deals mostly with the military and has never had a problem i thought once he got out of the air force i wouldnt be worrying as much but you know how this mom thing is they are your babies for ever and thank goodness he tolerates my worrying

Comment by chas

I am thinking that once the post get over 200 it begins to interfere with posting furthe.

I suppose there is a size limit as far as bytes go that cause the trouble. I wish I could talk about this to someone there. Guess that will have until Monday and I can ask Ms. Alisyn.

Pat, the meat roll sounds a bit odd but it really is good and even kids like it even though it has spinich in it. BTW you can change the spinich for brocolli or califlower or anything else you can mash so it doesn’t poke holes in the meat when you roll it.

Hi Ms. Lori.

chas

Comment by Virginia

Lori…that is exactly why I thought you would enjoy it. lol Dog is a woman, I believe and there are several people contributing to the site. That’s probably why I enjoyed it. :)

Comment by Virginia

Pat…that and a really good bit of fluff and we are in heaven indeed. I ended up watching Burn Notice last nite, in the spare room…but, am still sending someone after the book you suggested. lol

Comment by chas

I’m getting sloppy, Pat instead of Ms. Pat. Sorry, I did not mean to become so casual without permission.

My wife, Eileen, thanks you for your comments and says “you can always be a postal partner.”

She makes $11 an hour on her part time job, but spends $25 to have the final quilting done by a professional, and that’s the postage. The long arm quilter does the work pro bono.

Anyone can help with this one way or another.

Oh and yes she is a special person, she has to be to put up with me. ;) I can be a handful.

chas

Comment by Virginia

If that is correct Chas, then Alysin will have her work cut out for her, just about the time she thought she could relax a bit. Maybe that is what happened to Greta Wire~~~~oooooo~~~ scary place it has become, and probably due to the site growing so fast. We are not keeping a very good secret here. lol

Wait…WHAT? Dog is a girl?

I guess I should have read more…lol

Any trip outside the US would have to be filled with a little trepidation, these days, I would think, however, this is a pretty historical event, and I might decide I could handle a little in this one instance. I encourage you to think about it Lori. Although, apparently showing up for class is just as dangerous??? Is Stanford (was it ) still on lock down from this mornings shooting? The baby girl has left, so I could turn FOX on now…and find out. lol

dog id not a girl is he????? i think his profile said he is a 28 year old male from west virginia if i am not mistaken, which i well could be

Comment by chas

Pedicures aren’t a guy thing, at least this guy.

I was telling Ms. Virginia that either Jewel or Kelly Pickler said they couldn’t stand getting a pedicure because it tickled too much.

I’m not ticklish myself, but really don’t think I’d enjoy someone doing things to my feet. That said the wife loves it when I take care of hers.

So I think it’s more of a ladies thing. ;)

and your little or big pink toes would look so cute in flip flops LOL

Comment by chas

Pat it is then. It’s just the way I was raised. In fact the last time i saw my old neighbors I was still calling them Mr and Mrs. But until I have permission I try and stick to the non-casual and respectful.

BTW, I’m no spring chicken myself. I can retire from Federal Service with 30 years next March.

Perhaps you noticed when I was talking to Ms. Lori earlier I’ve been picking Presidential races since LBJ.

That might give you an idea of how old I am…lol

i understnd the respect thing. i think its or generation. i worked for an internist for 25 years until my retirement six years ago and most are patients were geriatrics. they would tell me to call them by their given names but i could never do that and i would tell them i couldnt because i wasnt raised that way and they would constantly tell me to but i just couldnt

i did see that but i am not good at that age thing i will be 72 next month but still kicking

Bless you Ma’am, 72 God love ya. I am 55 and feel like I’m going on 90 since being sick last year. But I am certain it is just taking longer because I am not as young as I use to be.

I think it is great how us people of older generations have taken to this new fun tech stuff.

But it is about respect. My Grandfather mostly raised me and would be just over 102 were he still alive. I can’t be any other way that would lend disrespect to his memory.

One day when I get it I’ll give you the link to Eileen’s pictures of the quilts she’s been making. You would like them I am sure.

you are right they are my “babies”, and it could be dangerous. It has been one of my personal “goals” to not allow fear to rule my life. Id have them all in a padded room forever if I could! I have had to learn, as Toby Keith sang, “I’m not as good as I once was”. My new theme song BTW…lol

My fuse gets short at certain things. I almost got into a bar fight a couple of years ago when a guy and his girl started to argue. He talked like he was going to slap her.

I told Eileen if I got up she had better leave the room. Won’t take a man hitting a lady. Unless I hit him with a chair I think he would have hurt me…lol But I would sit and ignore that.

i know the feeling i am so glad they are all grown and raised because we sure do live in a scarey world nowadays i worry more about my grandchildren than i ever did my own children

when mine were young you could let them go out during the day and play and not worry someone might run off with them of course 24 hour news coverage adds to these fears we
were not as aware of things as we are today

but my children tolerate my musings and even like me isnt that wonderful

Comment by chas

Hi Ms. Lori,

So happy you have returned.

Fox had that vid on a couple of days ago. It is, for lack of a better phrase, cute.

Eileen made my kids a Picture Quilt a couple of years ago. I took pictures of them and me when they were young and printed them on special cloth treated so it wouldn’t run,

They both loved it.

Both of my girls are women now one almost 24 the other just turned 18.

Comment by Lori

Pat, LOL Yes that’s lovely!

When cable first came to my Mom’s town, she was a huge news watcher, and for the first year she would call me daily to warn me about the latest scary thing out there just waiting to injure my children. LOL

Finally I said to her “Mom, you have got to either turn off CNN, or you will bankrupt yourself with these long distance calls!” She got the hint..;-)

moms never stop being moms i have learned after many years to sometimes just sit and stew rather than drive them crazy with my worries it definitely is a different world i would never allow my kids to do most of the things my kids let my grandchildren do but i know i made mistakes along the way and my advice to them is “do the best youcasn with them and hope the good things get remembered” and so far thank God they are all good human beings no major problems

Chas the quilt sounds wonderful and my goodness i have grandchildren older than your children now i am really feeling old :)

All help is accepted gladly. I think that if more people knew about this more would be willing to help.

Eileen was sent a letter from one of the guys, via the nurse contact that would bring tears to you eyes for the quilt he received.

You wouldn’t think big tough fighting men could be so touched by such a simple act, but to a man they are.

I wish I could get FOX to highlight this cause. Even though my wife is only one person and not a spokesperson for the org, she talks with a real passion for this.

Okay…you have all gone to the new blog!
What abouyt Obama’s comments on McCain’s age…the commercial with his 90+ years mother should put a stop to that…she was sharp and witty…what do you think?

Comment by chas

Actually I’m not a Republican, I’m a republican.

I know you think I’m nuts and that’s ok. But that is what Jefferson consider his ideal of Government.

Small, controllable and subject to change, as long as it was slow and considered.

So I guess I am really a Constitutional Conservative or a Jefferson republican. He never used upper case with republican.

BTW, it is a myth that Jefferson was a liberal. He was a radical thinker with conservative values. He did not believe in parties, judges making laws and believed that the Constitution was made for change, but only after slow and thoughtful talks. He thought that the French moved way too fast and turns out he was correct as it gave them Nappy.

OOOpps, sorry got into that history thing again.

good evening

the commercial with mc cains mother is great she is amazing for the age of what is it 96 i hold nothing what obama has to say he lies like all the rest no one can sit in a church for 20 something years (if he did attend) and not know how the man felt that will be a big problem i think that will dog him until the election

chas

i personaly (sp) like learning things and especially from well informed people I was not a good history student and have learned a lot in the last few years as my grandson just graduated from college with a history major and he is passionate about it so we have had some discussions

Comment by Jimmy Adams in Pelham, GA

I agree Chas…good for you to point it out…maybe she will read the blog and get the idea of what it’s about

Comment by chas

Mr. Adams is also a history guy, with a better education than I have to be sure.

AS so is your grandson. But I like talking history with people that have been taught it as opposed to me who just keeps a self-study course going. :)

i like to think in my own little way i may have been responsible for that but then my brain gets in gear and i realize the story played itself out

Comment by Virginia

Hi Jimmy…..yes, I saw mom. The junior senator might want to be just a little careful with his remarks. McCain’s age and hateful remarks could get him in some hot water…much like the other hot button things we are not allowed to speak of except in whispers like everyone was blind!!! The uniter better be careful…we, after all are part of that group he wishes to unite, and actually the group with a penny and we will probably actually go vote regardless and not be persuaded to take off to part unknown instead of…willing to stand in line, I might also add, and very aware of the option to vote absentee. Yes…we are mighty and strong and “oooooooooolllllllllllllldddddddddddddd”, yes we are!!!! So deal with it young man!!! We still grapple with the President junior senator from Illinois??? That sounds really, really, weird. Now, that said, I am pretty sure that, knowing how uniformed people are, they will be much more apt to pull the lever for the Scottish/Irish boy sooner than for the boy with the “funny name” that makes them slightly uncomfortable as visions of sand and flapping robes come to mind….visions of kilts and bagpipes being much more familiar and less threatening, I think……could be wrong, but…..nope, I am pretty sure I am definitely NOT!!!!! Yeppers….lol

Mr. Adams,

Perhaps I will try again. It seems you have to get her attention early in the show because her comments generally stop around 8 to 8:30.

Besides, I’m pretty certain Ms. Alisyn doesn’t scan her blog for comments made by chas…lol

OK, this is an example. This letter was written to my wife. I have deleted the name because I did not ask permission to use them, otherwise it is without edit:

Dear Eileen,

I am writing to express my gratitude to you and your friend, Betty I, for the beautiful, patriotic quilt you sent to the 332 EMDG (Expeditionary Medical Group) in Iraq. I want you to know how much those quilts mean to us. Yesterday evening six of our Nation’s very finest soldiers were flown in by chopper after a suicide bomber attacked their foot patrol. I cared for one of those young men last night. (I’ll call him Sgt C.). Sgt C is a young American soldier from Utah with a wife and two small children at home. He is one of the lucky ones. His burns and bruises will heal. His ruptured eardrum will heal. Yesterday he earned his second Purple Heart.

As is customary, the Chaplain or his assistant bring the injured troops a quilt and we cover them with it, either in the ER or on the ward. If they are alert we read them the cards from wonderful Americans like you and tell them that someone from home made that quilt for them. We save them for very special days, like yesterday; for an occasion when a touch of kindness and love from home is exactly what is needed. As I write these words my eyes fill with tears. I have watched many young soldiers receive their quilts of valor and I want you to know that it touches them deeply. It touches all of us deeply. I couldn’t read your card out loud to Sgt C because I was crying as I read it. Trying to hold back tears, I held it for him and he read it himself. I can tell you that a strong soldier fought valiantly to hold back his own tears. I don’t know if he will ever write to thank you, though he says he plans to, but I wanted you to know how much your kindness means to these young troops, and to those of us who care for them. This is no exaggeration…everyone who passed by Sgt C’s litter last night commented on how beautiful your quilt was. It was truly one of the most beautiful quilts we’ve seen.

I firmly believe that the Lord puts us where he needs us. Right now I am needed in Iraq, caring for those in harms way. I was placed with Sgt C last night to tend his wounds and was blessed to read your message and admire your quilt with him. Of all the quilts that were given last night I was especially touched by yours. You see, I have left behind a husband and four beautiful children in Damascus, MD. As I read the inscription on your quilt I was even more moved by the fact that it was from one of my Maryland neighbors. I told Sgt C that I was planning to write to you and when I return I hope that we can meet for tea and chat. I will share my pictures of Sgt C and his quilt, adorned with his Purple Heart.

Thank you, again, for your kindness and patriotism. I guarantee you truly touched the lives of many last night….through one beautiful quilt of valor. I know that Sgt C is anxious to return home and show that quilt to his family. It will always serve as a reminder to him of his victory last night and of the love we share as Americans. God bless you and God bless America!

Sincerely,

Major Sarah

Pat you sure got that right! I guess I was in the same shell because I thought we had made a lot of progress over the past few decades. There has been something else going on in a culture most of us was unaware of. Hate is being taught on Sunday and a bunch of vindictive people turned loose on the country come Monday morning.

The only possible way he could loose some of the black vote would be if he got caught on tape saying something very negative about that side of his family. That kind of thinking is not good for this country. It is almost like voting for Sanyaja to win American Idol. lol

Okay…got to go for now…time to take my dogs out for their excerise again…playing ball…..and as I said before…..even being from Georgia….I am not a racist….I have a white Westie named Alfie, and a black Scottie named William…..Virginia….I hear those bagpipes playing!
Back around 8:00 I hope!

Good point Marshall! I wholeheartedly agree!

Well, if BO keeps attacking McCain’s age he will get some senior rage going on and seniors go to the polls unlike college students.

See ya at eight….bye…lol

I try and stay out of the race thing, mostly because I always get in trouble for pointing out that the people that cry racist the most are the people that gain the most money for doing so.

So I will sit back and watch for a bit and stay out of this before the Sam Adams get me saying things that might make people angry.

And no Ms. Virginia, I am sure Ms. Alisyn has much better things to do and much smarter people to talk about things with than me. In fact I am certain of that. I get replys from her simply because I am there and there early. Not because I am anything special or worthy of note to her. Of that I am also certain.

i agree marshall in my humble opinion that is one of the reasons hillary is staying in the fight i am sure they are searching despeerately to find some kind of misstep he has made or will make

his associations for positions that he wants is indicative of what we would have if God forbid he ever got into the white house hillary is no prize either

i also am not a rascist but facts are facts

Comment by Virginia

This is about race because the junior senator is not comfortable in his own skin, and that is very apparent by his behavior, by anyone of any “age” anyway. lol

Comment by chas

Too late to say good bye sya later to Mr. Adams. Oh well. That’s what I get for being so long winded…lol

chas

Comment by Virginia

Pat….one miss step? Well, I don’t even think I will even try to make that list, as we are all too familiar with it already. Hillary is staying in it, because the delegates are still able to change their mind…up until they actually vote…so there is always the chance they might. lol

There the junior senator goes again, talking about Bush. Hellooooo! He is not running. Pay attention boy!!! Your argument is with McCain and his foreign policy not President Bush and his. Oh my…I just must put the channel on Cesar Melan and the dog whisperer for a while so my blood pressure can stay ok. lol

Chas….could be I guess, but Alysin would have to be looking for the familiar. It is human nature, much like wanting to go to the same place for that cup of coffee, or the same girl at the checkout, and the same gas station regardless of the price…like that. I wouldn’t agree that your views wouldn’t also be very interesting for her also. I look for them, so why wouldn’t she??? lol

Comment by Marshall

It is about race because some people say if Obama doesn’t win then it is about race. They don’t mention the guy has NO experience and is very wishy washy on important issues. I am not a Hillary fan and don’t agree with her on most policy items, but she is a junior senator too and she has worked her a$$ off in the senate and has managed to cross party lines in order to get things done. As a sate senator Obama voted present 130 times so he could side-step issues. As a state senator he has spent the bulk of his time in that office running for president.

This whole thing seems incredible to thinking people, but the march goes on and on and on…..

Comment by Marshall

As a U.S. Senator should be in there some where. That’s what I get for typeing and not reading what I type. lol

Comment by Virginia

Pat….I was looking for the lovely Cesar and his doggies, but, as it happens they are doing this documentary and it is as always, interesting no matter what they choose to talk about, as a rule, anyway. lol

Comment by Virginia

Marshallllllllllll!!!!! The key word being “thinking” people. Thinking people would not think he would do…on any day, for any reason. lol

Comment by Virginia

I do realize they are both junior senators~~~~~~~I just use these terms of reference as a reminder to all of who he is, and I don’t like to write his name either…I am soooooooo bad I know, but, he is such a slick customer and has bamboozled those that refuse to THINK, listen, and discern. Drives me nuts! Oh well…we have Cesar and the ever TALL and handsome Tobias and the ravishing, petite red haired Levinia to escape to when all becomes just tooooooooooo much. lol

Comment by Virginia

Marshall….we must type fast and furious to keep up, so there is not always time to proof, and then when we see it up, we laugh hysterically over things left out or miss spelled or whatever, that may change the whole meaning. We are sharp here tho, so fear not. We can usually determine what you might be saying. lol

Pat, anything you or anyone can do to help the org would be great. We’ve hit everything from Oprah to Dr. Phil, FOX News but we are just people working in the org, (well she does all the work), not any official person like President or something.

BTW if you look you will see that the Mr. Bush just honored the President of QOV, it’s there on the site.

It’s not like no one knows about it, it just doesn’t get air time like so many others.

Ms. Virginia, in a respect you are correct, but I think you give me more credit than I deserve or warrant. She didn’t miss me the week work prevented me from posting until I returned. And this does not hurt my feelings. I come here because I enjoy it and the tone is not so vitrolic (sp?) as other places.

I like Ms. Alisyn and think enough of her to try and keep the site a nice place to be by example mostly, but I come mostly because of the people I have met here and like. You of course are one of those people.

But I have no illusion that Ms. Alisyn thinks any more of me than she does of Marshall, Will or you and Pat. I’m just another who takes up band space…lol

Well…you may try to hide from me, but I am getting so good at this, you will not succeed. Much like my dentist, who went off without a word~~~~~~but was found after much gnashing of teeth and loud screaming on my part. Oh stupid me…when they leave a practice they are not allowed to send out notices to their particular patients…and he did leave and open his own office. So when I found him, finally!! Sheesh! I ran over and told him he was found so that little trick didn’t work. He acted like he was glad to see me. Oh hell!!! He was glad to see me I am sure…I am at the crashing part of my life, so every tooth is in jeopardy, therefore he lights up like a Christmas tree every time I show up! Yep! For sure. He is a great guy thought. Sent the baby girl over to him as she had a loose bottom tooth and had been told it would have to be pulled. Well…you can imagine the fit I had…all that money on her mouth!! Excuse me, I just don’t think that is happening. She had no insurance, so I wrote the check for a thou…i.e. reference to having a penny???….but, he never cashed it. Nope, he didn’t. She’s a doll anyway, but, he is nice and we are good buds…as much as one would be with their dentist anyway. I had the same relationship with my mechanic…hummmm! So, of course I think Alysin would miss you Chas. I miss my mechanic for goodness sake, and I wasn’t seeing him every day!!! lol

I like Ms. Lori, she is very smart and unlike many partisans she is willing to listen and not attack logic and fact. She is, even if she won’t admit it, a moderate, and wouldn’t be surprised if she at times considered voting for a republican.

But I am not so tied to party as she and as such have a more objective view of politics.

I am sure she would disagree, but I don’t like either party at this point, but have none of my own.

I wonder if there is something I forgot to pay? Time and space has become a relative thing for me now. I am not so sure the world is any more topsy turvy than it has had a tendency to be always. Wellllll, more so, of course, as is written it would be, however, we also get to hear about it almost before it happens. We have become a bit desensitized along the way, I suspect. Yesterday we heard the captured the big old bad guy in Iraq only to discover that it was someone with a similar name. Not too long ago, that news would have waited for confirmation. Now, we must sort out the truth from the folly, and that is just insane!! lol

So here you all are….I found you. You can run, but you can’t hide. The stress got to be too much earlier trying to post and getting kicked, so as you know I headed back to the flower shop. Ended up buying four tomato plants, six pepper plants, six perenials, and two hanging plants. It’s always good therapy to go there. When they close up for the season in June I will be very sad. The hubby and kids got a me a beautiful double knock out rose bush for my flower garden. I can’t wait to plant it tomorrow.

So many thoughts, where do I begin? I paid a visit to the Greta blog and I am back without too many scrapes. It was very strange over there indeed and I thank Virginia for her specific warnings so that I wasn’t too shocked. They are a strange breed perhaps. When I found this place, it was very easy to read and enjoyable. I read your posts for many days before ever posting. So when I began posting it seemed as thought I already sort of knew you and your opinions.

Lori, It has been great to see you posting. You may be democrat and that’s ok, you can stay. ha ha. AFter all, this is a fair and balanced news channel. It’s so interesting to read your posts as I am learning lots of things. We are opposites politically as I have never voted for a democrat. But even I know that even our republicans are more democratic than republican…in my opinion. They get closer and closer to the left and then everyone gets comfortable there along with them.

The fact that Obama is black and Hillary is a woman is absolutely NOT my reasons for voting for someone else. I’m just simply a conservative and don’t support the liberal agenda. McCain is going to be my only choice in the November election and that makes me so ILL !!!! It really slucks.

Chas: Thank you for sharing that letter of your wife. That was very heartfelt and so refreshing to read. No wonder she continues to make those quilts. We need more kindness in this world.

Virginia: I cannot believe all the trouble I’ve had this afternoon. Great news about the pedicure. I”ve had ONE of them and won’t go back. My feet are so ticklish that I laughed the whole time. The Vietnamese woman finally gave up on me and quit. lol

Will: I don’t remember what you were supposed to respond to today? I’m thinking that it was regarding my posts getting kicked for at least an hour. I tried so hard to reword things to no avail.

I’m sure I forgot to say something.

Then the kids came home and it’s always high drama for a couple of hours. Apparently no one thought we had any food in the cabinets, go figure, so I hauled my buttocks to the grocery store. HHHHmmm… then I had to feed the family. Feed the animals.

We have eight barn cats, four of them being just three weeks old. One isn’t doing good at all, might not make it through the night. She doesn’t seem to be getting enough nourishment, but the other three kittens are chubby. She seems to be nursing ok. Maybe she’s just sick, mama keeps going out into the wet grass and comes back to the kittens soaked (it’s raining here). So the kittens end of being wet and I think the poor thing is just getting sick.

What’s the topic in this blog? I have not even looked LOL

chas, it was probably kelly pickler, she’s a riot. I love to see her interviewed. She had some major work done I think? guess she’s making a lot of money now, but she’s still cute and innocent. hopefully she’ll stay that way.

Lori mentioned earlier about seeing a video on the “Ellen” show. Oh my, how I love her show. My hubby finds that so bizzare because she is so liberal. But her show rocks. It is so much fun and she has great guests. She shows a bunch of funny videos.

So should we combine our posts and make them huge like my first one in here? Because by Monday morning, this topic blog could get huge….and start to kick out posts. then what ? anyone have a plan B? LOL

Make dinner for my mom?? nah, I bought her a beautiful hanging basket of geraniums. Good’nuff.

Oh Sheila….you are marveluuuuuuuuussssssss child!! The pedicure is wonderful, wonderful…take a pill for the tickling and go back. I bet you scared that poor girl to death. And speaking of pedicures…Chas..they are not an only female thing I assure you. Older men come in all the time. It is cheaper than the podiatrist, and they get all trimmed and soaked and massaged and rough skin off…no, it is not for woman only. Not by a long shot. Now, that said, I can’t get the hubby to go either, but, you guys are missing out big time. And it last a really long time, so it is well worth the thirty or so it costs…believe me!!!!
That would be the reason the parties are having such a hard time, and the Independent movement is surging. If you ask a “younger” person, they will say nothing or they will tell you they are an Independent, so will vote “for the man and nothing else matters”. Well, that is why we think they should be at least thirty before they can do anything, much less help elect the president!!!!! Yep!!! That’s a fact for sure….:):)
Lori is awesome and fearless!!!! She must return or we will go on a search for her…she cannot hide, now that I am becoming o accomplished on the puter!!!!!
Whew!!! The color is not the issue. It is that the junior senator is not comfortable in his own skin, so it has become an issue.
Let me think…what else did you say….oh yes. I love the flowers and the planting too…and am sad when the cold and dark of winter descends on Ohio. I want to run back to the deserts of Texas very very fast, but, alas, the primary earner lives here as well as all the children, who, spent all my money, therefore I can’t wiggle out of my spot anyway, so it matters not??
Now…let me think. I told you Sheila. You have challenged my feeble short term memory big time. This is probably a good excersise (there’s that word again) that is very good for me I am sure!!!! lol

Comment by chas

OK, then you and Kelly share the same sensitivity. Actually a common thing I seem to recall that they estimate that between 85-95% of the population is ticklish somewhere.

Why do I know that? Dang if I know, I just seem to remember things that most people find useless and pointless. But I have to look in my underwear to remember my name at time…lol

Comment by Sheila

The poor pedicure girl, I really did scare her…and she got soaked in the process because I kept kicking water everywhere. She was very limited in her English speaking and kept saying…WEWAX ! NO KICK !

Politics issues: You’re right about the younger crowd. I can certainly understand at times. Our daughter’s boyfriend just registered to vote. He was going to register as an Independent, says he considers himself to be a “moderate”. Hubby talked to him a long time. He ended up registering democrat because he likes Obama. It’s all he’s hearing on the college campus, so we weren’t surprised. Hubby wasn’t trying to turn him into a republican, rather, just tried to explain how everything works.

Yeah, Lori stays, like it or not I say. :o ) YES I DID NOTICE she left for the evening unlike some others…cough..cough..cough.. Her opinion is refreshing, which is crazy for me to say because I’m usually so defensive. Guess I am really trying to be FAIR and learn something. It’s been a good exercise for me.

Marshall, write in huckabee…now that’s a thought. lol

I have faith that Chas or Marshall or Will or Jimmy will come up with a plan. Orrrrrrr, you Sheila are smart, and Lori is also smart so it could be a woooooooman who would come up with a solution for the “wideband” problem. Is that correct??? Much like the election we are now watching unfold. Will it be the very talented but not with much expertise, Sheila who will get the job of fixing the puter blog, or the smart and quick wit of Lori who will win the ominous job in front of us? Orrrrrrrrrrrrrr, will the boys cheat! Look on google, and figure the whole thing out because they know about all things electrical and have a secret agent embedded (it’s Chas girls..) as we found out when spying, without permission from fisa, on their web site, known as THE GREEN ROOM…not THE BLUE ROOM, OR THE RED ROOM…altho, we had to search frantically for the spot, but, we put quiet Elaine in charge of that so as not to raise any suspicion you see..very nice, walking from the nail shop after a long calm pedicure and her fluff book..one of our best agents..totally wouldn’t’ suspect her cunning ability to infiltrate the enemy camp…carrying her handy blackberry innocently watching Cesar Melan..who would even suspect?? We keep them off guard with long messages from our other cunning agent Sheila…talking of flowers and everything beautiful, so as to keep them in the dark…it is working…they are in the dark, when the blog shuts down and we are all F5ing madly over and over, gnashing our teeth and crying mournfully until the neighbors call the squad and we are rushed to the psych ward at OSU, where you are a frequent escape and they are very glad to have you found, at last!!!!!!! :) :):) I’m definitley voting in November….does it scare you to death??????????? :) :) Yep, the crazy have their one vote too dontcha know….and a cig will buy mine and if you provide a glass on Merlot (I still don’t have a bottle) I will vote twice for the candidate of your choice, in the true spirit of Chicago politics that we all know soooooo well!!!! lol

I’m 40 and already having trouble remembering things, so I am very scared for the other ages in my future.

Lori, don’t lurk…ask your question here, too, let us have some fun with it ! please…

Comment by Virginia

Oh! Not me…I just explained…escapee from the psych ward?? name in the underwear so as not to get lost, there by having a size 32 put on you even tho you wear a size 38? causing some pain and not discovered until Elaine shows up and is hysterical as he is purple by this time cause he can’t get a breath!!!! And you thought I didn’t know Sheila…think girl. You are one of our very best agents…oppps..I forgot, you are under cover..that’s right. This short term memory thing is affecting my long term memory thing, and I am going blind as well as mad..from my new addiction blogging!!! Ah!!!!! and a wonderful place to be..did I mention that???? lol

Comment by Virginia

Sheila…the most perfect age….relax and enjoy. You are not forgetting dear. You are now old enough to know it just couldn’t matter less..if you forgot it, it JUST ISN’T THAT IMPORTANTTTTT! Yes…a marvelous, marvelous, age. I should have recognized tha about you immediately..well, I think I did as a matter of fact!! :)

Comment by Sheila

LOL Virginia, you’re on a roll tonight. 32 instead of a 38…too funny. I’m thinking that perhaps this agent is getting ready to get a demotion as she can’t figure out the problem, try as she might.

Come on Lori, do you not trust we can handle the question? Give us a chance… (I’m not losing my mind, I found a question posted on the Gretawire by Lori at 8:30, it’s a good one.)

Did you hear today that Hillary is coming to Kentucky? Bring her on I say. Do what you can do while you can. She’s free to be here in our bluegrass state, although I will not be inviting her over to see my new flowers.

What’s up with Kennedy supporting Obama? He’s so weird. Why do they keep voting him into office?

Since Virginia brought it up I am going to say that it really bothers me that my underwear is now speaking Spanish to me. I used to wear a simple size medium and now that label says Mucho Grande You Lard A$$. Wuzup wit dat?

Well Marshall….then the “lets” part is our job without our best to help? But, as a mom, I approve, of course. I forgot it was Mother’s day!!!!! It would have gone right past me if not for the blog. I have lost all touch……..blah, blah..lol :) Explains the call from the daughter that never calls. Ah! I know what I am getting. The boy just called and they are having a bucket sale…can have the bucket for five and fill it up with every cleaning supple that will fit for ten percent off. Well, now, aren’t I just sooooooooooo excited!!!!! lol I wasn’t supposed to hear that, you see, but, with my cunning skills I was able to hear despite the fact I am deaf in one ear and have lost my hearing aid, which I think I had insurance on, but, I can’t remember where I put the paper, or the doctor’s name. Oh well…tha’t life. Who need to hear anyway now that I have found this delightful place…did I mention I love this spot??? lol

Comment by Virginia

Aw Chas….the size mean naught anymore. I have everything from an eight to el grandeousssssss, and I wear it all. It depends on my mood you see. Sometimes I want to be tucked and tailered, and sometimes I want to be in jams, but must go to work, and they just INSIST I be dressed in something other than my jammys…thus el grandeousssssss works just greaaaatttt! As Tony the tiger used to say. Matters not…they have also messed with the shoe sizes. I used to wear an eight and a half, and now I wear a seven??? That makes sense…well, my right foot may forever a size five hundred!!!! Sheesh!! lol

Kennedy hates and I mean hates, Hillary. That is what that is all about. That and Dean, who has decided he is in charge of the world, cause he is realllllyyyyy mad he didn’t get to run for pres! Betcha thought I didn’t know the answer to that, huh? Yeppers, that is it, and he is an absolute sot, of course, and probably doesn’t even know what he is doing as well as he has more money that god so he really could care less about anything but his ugleeeeeee large personage.!!!! Yep…it must be so, I am sure..yep, yep, yep.
There is also a Chas over there, but, it is not our Chas. It is clear it is not, as the typing and style do not match. He is thankfully not and evil blogger, but, not as smart, so for a moment you think it is a friend, but..alas, not. A strangggeeerrrr, with the same name. Lori could be that..so unless you recognize her style, it is prob not her. Oh dear…I hope she is not one of those I may have bee politely telling off?? in my moment in Greta Land?? Surely not…I only presumed to schoole the dumb, and she is definitley NOT. lol

Actually Sheila, that really happened. I had clean clothes in the drawers and closet for my dad when he was in rehab after pneumonia at Christmas….so, I went everyday, as did the children, at various times, so he wouldn’t be alone too much. WELL…I got there first that day, before the baby girl, and that was exactly what had happened. They had stuffed him, and I mean stuffed…into a 32 pair of jockeys. Sheesh and geezzz! I was furious, of course, and they were very apologetic…it was a very good story, after I got over being so very angry at such incompetence…and at those prices. :)

Kennedy just looks evil…something about that family has never set well with me. Probably the fact that we would disagree over all topics.

I will take note about Lori. It may not be here, you’re right. This girl wasn’t out of control or anything. She was asking something about Obama…what the heck he would bring to the White house. This girl posting is a Clinton supporter.
OK I am done lurking over there. They have some very interesting opinions….

Heading to bed. G’night all.

I’d never post over there…I was just surveying. LOL

Chas…I get the joke.. four letter word…rhymes with spit.

If it was Lori, it’s OK… she’s not mentioned the Green room. Even if she did, I don’t think they would feel comfortable here. We are too mellow? We have strong emotions…strong opinions…but we don’t need to get ugly to get our point across. am i wrong?

Gretawire had over 400 posts today… we can’t have that. I think it’s because the subject was Kennedy. figures.

now my pillow is calling. my blood pressure is up for some reason. hopefully i’ll be able to sleep.

My four legged beast needs to go outside in the rain, she’ll just love that.

What do you want him to bring, a foot rub, world peace a real good back rub?

I’m sure he will promises you will get it.

He just won’t tell you a plan as how to accomplish it.

“I’d like to teach the world to sing”…except I can’t sing. All shirt no starch that Obama/

Poor Lori she’s backing the same horse that Hillary did and they shot her. Sad very sad.

Comment by Virginia

Well, I didn’t get it Chas…nope, slow as they come!! Sheila, I am so glad the kid is out. I know…not nice, a bit selfish, but…lol
Answer to the question…nothing but his baby self, and his strange controlling wife, who has no table manners, and altho Bill might not do any better, I think he does have table manners. I am sure she has not a skill we could be proud of despite the wish to compare her with jackie O, as most startling thing I thought. Jackie is laughing hard for many reasons, I am sure, but this one has to be at the top!!!! Oh my, the thought is just, well, just not ok. at all…at all. After Laura B…oh! I am just mortified at the thought poor baby that she is. :) So, he is not bringing dignity..no brains, cannot chose nice people to help him, is apt to be in the bathroom when the red phone rings? I don’t know…many reasons, those being only a few! lol

Comment by Virginia

And yes Chas….she is that for sure! lol (re:Sheila..i am whispering so she doesn’t blush…secret agents do blush, you know). lol

Comment by Sheila

*blush* thanks chas…i know i haven’t been here very long.. and probably posting too much. you guys are fun though and make me feel so young. lol

Now about our Lori…whom I like..in fact, I have to say that she’s my favorite on-line democrat. how’s that for honesty? that obama question came from a Lori in the Greta room, i just found it interesting. Greenroom Lori will no doubt vote for whichever democrat is on the ticket, just as I will vote for McCain [with much pain]. I’ll have to go back and review her posts from yesterday, but I think she sounds like a Clinton supporter. Especially with her being married 24 years and all. Poor Lori, she’s been talked about so much this evening and isn’t even here.

Comment by Virginia

Now Chas…he does have a plan for his plan. He is going to take alllllllll the profit from corporations and give it to “the people” who will be joyous beyond belief, until the nation fails, and he must nationalize everything…again, for the good of the people, who are still swooning at the sight of Pres junior senator fr Illinois. At this point, when Sharpton, Jackson, Ayers, Frank…whatever, HAMAS, and his cousin in Kenya, whatever his foolish name is…are in charge, the ‘PEOPLE’ will gasp, as he sends the teacher to plow the fields and the farmer to write the books. Yes? No? I think so…yep..That is how it is done…according to the history we know so well. lol

Comment by chas

Ms. Sheila,

I was given a pass on my girls teens mostly, due to divorce, but you have to have faith that you taught them well.

Watching a lot of news today tends to make you think that no parent does well, but that is so not the case.

A girl I once knew once said “I’d rather be tied and tickled to tears than have kids”. She had 4 and everyone of them turned out to be wonderful people.

Comment by Virginia

Sheila…we do genuinely like Lori. I wasn’t kidding when I said she was smart and quick witted. We like her for all the reasons you do, and I think she is a Hillary person, and my best friends are all voting for her, true Irish dems, through and through. No discussion and it wouldn’t occur to me that I could persuade them ever and i love them dearly, so wouldn’t even try. I surely hope she does come play with us. It is great fun to have her here. And, she is, after all, one of my best agents!!!!! lol

Comment by Virginia

And Sheila….that is the reason one does not miss card club….if you aren’t there they WILL talk about you!!!! Old joke and so true and we laugh all the time about that…it is the joke. If you don’t come we will talk about you. Yes!!! A girl thing more so I think. But, you need not fear. YOU are marvelous I say!!!!! Yep, and must come or we will sent Elaine to find you, my other best agent! lol

Comment by Sheila

The oldest will be 18 in nine short months. She’s a good kid and to be honest we’ve basically finished raising her. It’s to the point now that you just guide where you can ..and be a good listener. There are still a lot a great parents out there, the media always focuses on the negative stories, that’s for sure. My kids though have some friends that wish their parents were more strict. It’s very interesting to listen to them talk about it all. It comes down to the parents being too busy with their own lives to deal with the kid’s issues. The one girl told our daughter, that we were good parents because when we ground our kids, the grounding fits the crime. Well, we try… I mean why take away their cell phone for coming in past curfew? Or why take the car away from them for back talking? The best thing that we have done here is having them come up with their own groundings. I can’t take all the credit as it’s what my dad did with me and my two sisters. If we didn’t pick a hard enough grounding, my dad would double it. IF you made it too hard, well, stinks for you. We don’t double the grounding if we don’t think it’s hard enough, but we say … nah, try again…harder this time.

For us it has come down to lots of love… compassion…and consistency.

The basic argument of policy is this:

Dems say you are free and should take care of yourself, but we will regulate how you are able and what you must do to care for yourself.

Republicans believe that the Government might help take of you, but it is mostly you who should take of you.

I believe that the Government should protect out borders, people should stop whining about life and get a job and stop, by most means available, keep idiots from blowing up Americans with jet planes or dirty bombs. They should also do this within the limits of the income they collect since I have to live on the income I make.

I had a budget at 15 years old, why can’t DC do that?

Comment by Virginia

Children…well, they are so nice to have. It is a bit scary from time to time. I really do think, more so today than before, perhaps? But, diligence and guarding and letting them know that you are both diligent and guarding, is usually the best way. You have taught them, so now they will chose. It is they way it is and has always been. I think nothing will happen you cannot handle, I suspect. And then, it’s been twenty years or so and it is time for a new mattresssssss, and you can’t believe that the “new mattress” you have is not new anymore, and the kids are grown and fine, and coming home to tell you how really great you are and were. It’s going to be just fine…yes, it will and is. Enjoy the journey for sure….it just gets better. lol

As much as I enjoy talking to you ladies, and have great company even if yours isn’t as good, I fear that I must call it a night.

It is a same that 4am comes so early here in southern MD, which leaves me longing for bed and the comfort of the wife at times I would have in my younger days would have stayed with you wonderful ladies.

I thank you for hanging around. I have been on the plus end of exchange this evening.

Who knew that I would find such attractive people to have fun with.

Comment by Virginia

I agree Chas…and I think that is what the original concept was? You are the student, but, I believe that is what I was taught. It has gotten to be sooooo big and cumbersome and the reps are not doing their job, so the presidency is scarier than it should be. But, we will prevail, I think. McCain will win…but, it is bound to be contentious however it goes.
Sheila….that is how I did it. That is how I was raised also. Having them enter into the punishment faice (sp) always works. Sometimes, they were harder on themselves than I might have been. Hubby and I worked as a team, another essential as you already know. Then guard, pray :) a lot, love, safety of kith and kin (an essential and includes close friends)…yep, you’ve got it locked up for sure.
I agree that the t.v. is not a good way to see the kids. Another plan of mine that got no notice. Every time they show a utube thing, people should send pictures and stories to go with this to show the many many good kids out there going to school and contributing to their communities…now, that would be a flood of stuff they would need recognize for shear bulk! lol

Daughter got home 20 minutes early and chatty as ever. I have no clue where she gets THAT from…

Chas…some great insight as always. The government has enough control as it is…and I don’t need them taking care of me.

My kids will learn to stand on their own 2 feet or get a second job if they must…..they have never seen us rely on the government to wipe our butts for us…so why should they?

Virginia…yep, now it’s time to choose..

My doggie says it’s time to take her to the mattress for some R&R.

Out .. in . peace…

Isn’t Chas nice. He is the first person to say anything to me. I was like you, Sheila, a little shy to intrude. But, this is a wonderful place to be. Greta wire was ok four weeks ago. I was over there more than here, in that this was little bitty at that time. Greta grew by leaps and bounds…she couldn’t keep track either. The same complaint was prevalent…where is Greta and why is she not on with us? So, I fear for this site…I really do. But! Forward we go, and hopefully it will stay ok. lol

normally curfew is midnight… but tonight it was 11 because the weather was really bad and she was driving home from a shopping mall pretty far out.
She typically does something with her friends on Friday nights and goes out with the boyfriend on Saturday nights. They are pretty good though, they’ll go out for most of the evening, come back here about 10, watch a movie together…then he has to be gone and her back inside the house by midnight. I’m pretty strict eh? lol

There is a corner type store not far from my house. I stop there on most mornings because I like their coffee. Must be the brand and the fact each pot is fresh ground. Anyway, went up there this morning and it was closed and had cops crawling all over it. Someone said it had been robbed, but didn’t know any details. That is too d@mn close to home!

Comment by Lori

LOL Marshall, that is a likely story!

I see you did Virginia, I can assure I am not the same person who is on the other blog, and for the record, I will be perfectly happy whomever gets the nomination. LOL

Chas, is right I do consider myself a moderate, actaully I am probably a libertarian.

So now all the bloggers don’t have to wonder anymore..LOL

Comment by Virginia

Lori….we got so silly last nite. We all finally went to bed, with sweet thoughts of all dancing in our heads, worried about you over in the Greta space. But, I knew you would survive!!!! lol Well..the screen is going berserk this morning!!! I waited up with Sheila for the child to get home, and then went to bed, so I was up early, to hubby’s chagrin, prob. Chatting away, you know, while he was trying to have a quiet morning, before he left on his appointed errand. lol

Comment by chas

Morning guys,

A pleasure to see you one and all.

I am going to be a bit slow for a bit here. I am typing a computer lesson and it requires me to think about something I do without thinking…lol

Comment by Lori

Marshall, Isn’t that scarey, when we lived in Dallas my husband and my children went to our “corner story” for some Sunday doughnuts and coffee, and ended up in the middle of a gang shoot out in the parking lot! That is one thing I sure don’t miss!

Comment by Lori

LOL Virginia that isn’t me, I have never posted in any room other than this.. It’s another Lori.

Comment by Lori

* corner STORE.. good heavens need more coffee…

Comment by Virginia

Lori…I think you and I have the same political history, and I am sure I am prob leaning more libertarian also, in theory. I am all over the map, and am furious with the dems for the antics and have been so saaaaadddd while I have watched it all. It appears they did not vet the junior senator. If that were me, I would be on a list somewhere as a person of interest I would think? Wellllll, could be I am on a list, for all I know??? lol Hillary does not scare me a bit, and altho I disagree with her, I do think she can do the job. I would stay in the race too, as no one has that illusive crystal ball, so why not? There is still room for the supers to change their mind and so no wonder Dean wants that issue settled right now. I think he is wrong headed, but, I do not like or trust him and am so relieved he is not president!!! :)

Comment by Marshall

Lori that is terrible! Thank God I think this was just a robbery and no one was hurt. You really have to get off the beaten path to target this store and I doubt they got much cash. I don’t like these drugged out whack-o’s coming into my hood to rob people!

Comment by Virginia

I am glad I do not have to worry about you anymore in the land of strange and not always very smart or witty comments!! We are selfish, and we want you alllllll to ourselves!!!!!!!!! lol

When you get the chance Ms. Virginia check your mail. Your lesson has been sent.

I hope the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

Good morning Alisyn and everybody! Did you see the McCain commercial with his mom for Mother’s day? How cute!

Comment by Virginia

Oh thanks Chas…I will read carefully. I have pictures I have wanted to send, and have been unable to do so. My daughter in law knows how but I have been unable to snag her…busy lady that she is! This is great!!!!! I will check later…lol

Virginia, no not reading, watching fox news as usual, I just saw on there that Japan just came up with ice balls, instead of ice cubes they are balls and they melt slower, (Great for your experiment!)

Comment by Virginia

Marshall…when do you leave to see mom today? :) I don’t know what the kiddies are doing here. The oldest is coming today I think, as she has an open house tomorrow for a client, and will be busy. The other baby girl, that comes every day, is coming this a.m., but I don’t think that is my “mother’s day visit”. The boys? Well, I don’t know. Haven’t really heard. The one is in Atlanta on business, so he won’t be here, but, will prob call as he always attends, such a well raised young man that he is :) :). lol

Comment by Lori

Makes you made Marshall! We also had our car stolen out of our driveway on a saturday morning! LOL My husband had just come back from the store again, and he was unloading the groceries..LOl He went to the door and said hey our car is gone..LOL I can still see his face.. Poor guy..LOl Im sure someone followed him home from the store.

Virginia, I kinda doubt we have the same political view, after reading last nights posts…. LOL But thats ok..lol I forgive ya and still xoxoxo ya.

Comment by Virginia

Elaine…. I still have not gotten the illusive Merlot that I need for this experiment, which sounds, as we decided it prob was, a yuk thing!!! I am determined to fix a little bitty glass, however, and will let everyone know!!!!! I am also watching FOX, but, have not been paying attention. Leave it to the Japanese however, for invention most interesting. We were there for four years back in the dark ages of my youth, and the toys and different things out were just amazing, not many in the states, when we go back. They are here now, tho, aren’t they…for sure!!! Grandpa is up, and dressed and pouring his own milk into his cereal, which hubby got ready for him. He can do it all, so I guess I have learned that along this path of the ankle!!!! To whoever mentioned orange juice on the cereal…..yes, we have done that in days of yore when the milk mysteriously disappeared! :) and it is good, but, again…no surprise. lol

Comment by Lori

good heavens all I am so sorry for my crazy spelling errors this morning… LOl I think I should sit and be still till my coffee kicks in..LOl I sound like a dang fool! <<<<<<<<< Being still

Comment by Virginia

NO Lori…I said history. I am a life time dem and have only left as a result of the far left getting the power of the most precious party, The whole household is dem…moving away, for the same reason. The girls will definitely vote for Hill, if she gets the nod, but, I do not think they will vote for the junior senator. The boys are Independent or republican, along the lines of the dem persuasion that has become a part of their platform…so, altho we part ways, the history is the same. lol

Comment by chas

Don’t worry about the spelling Lori. We all do it and are still able to understand what you are saying.

chas

Comment by Virginia

I can never type in the morning before my fifteenth cupa…but, we manage to read what comes up anyway, as we are all in the same shape? Yep, I think so. lol

Comment by Virginia

Now…the hubby..who knows what he will do, but, he has the best time pushing alllllllllllll my buttons!!! Yes, he does. lol

Comment by elaine

Orange Juice and cereal! Now that really is yuk! Whenever I was out of milk I just used water.

Comment by Lori

Virginia, gotcha, LOL well I do understand how you could have come to your present day outlook, present day politics isn’t the same as it use to be thats for sure.

I have grown up in that climate. My uncle was a Congressman for 26 years so I know politics isn’t for the weak, but this is off the charts I agree.

Comment by chas

And if you needed proof of the leftward Ho movement Alex Baldwin is talking about a run for office…lol

Though in CA he might be considered a moderate. Yea right.

chas

Comment by Marshall

Time for me to get off my lazy butt and straighten up this house before family start to arrive! Have a great weekend one and all and Ali.

Comment by Lori

I saw Alex’s interview, but I missed what he was contemplating running for? Congress I assume?

Comment by Virginia

If one answers the phone and they cannot say your name correctly, are you allowed to say……you have called the wrong number??? Geezzz…and from India, no doubt. Again, I ponder, what on earth didn’t I pay??? Or are these weird calls to sell something? If they won’t identify themselves, I guess I don’t care. Send me a notice and get off my phone with these darned calls that just interfere with my life…well, I don’t really have a life right this minute, but, if I did, it would be interfering!!!!! lol

Comment by chas

It will be on 60 minutes tomorrow.

The clip I saw didn’t provide the information on which office.

Comment by elaine

chas? Are you serious? Alex Baldwin? Is he a republican or democrat? I would vote for him on his look alone! LOL

Comment by Marshall

Virginia my house is kind of at a mid-point between where my mom lives and where my sis lives so they are coming here today driving from opposite directions.

Okay, gone this time…………

Comment by chas

I believe the proper political term is socialist. ;)

chas

Comment by Marshall

Alec Baldwin is left of Karl Marx and he is a complete drunken nut that beats his wives and ridicules his daughter. Scum on the bottom of my shoe would have a better chance of winning a political office.

okay, stop making me read here!!!!!!! lol

Comment by Virginia

No…Alex is contemplating the presidents job. I think he is qualified as he has made all these documentaries? Something about a sub and the Russians I think? Maybe he will run for governor first, so as to get some experience? He is a total nut, for sure. Good looking, as far as it goes…or was..haven’t seen him for a while, so he may have gotten fat and old?
Grandpa can’t remember mother, God bless his heart, so I paused to talk to him. He ask me again what her name was…:( I feel so bad for him. This is indeed a wicked disease. But, I am really blessed to the max that he is here and my hubby loves him as much as I do. Yes, God is very good!!! lol

Virginia, your father is very blessed to have a daughter like you who steps up and takes care of him and is also very blessed that your husband adores him aswell, I hear horror stories out their where the children leave their parents to other means of care, our parents sacrificed many years during our upbringing and when they are of age I believe that it is our obligation to care for them, our way of saying thankyou mom and dad for all of what you have done for us, and this goes for the spouses also, if you love your husband or wife then you love their family aswell.

g-morning Sal

Well even though I don’t have much good to say about our sitting president, one good thing I can say is he sure loves his girls. I wish them a happy day today.

Comment by Virginia

Hi Sal…you are here too. I think? You are still here? Distractions can be sooooooooooooo annoying even when it is the very precious daddy person. :)

Comment by elaine

Lori, my comment about Dick Van Dyke stems from the Alec Baldwin comment and then on to then next comment about puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurty, I totally am reading things right and understand pretty much what everyone is saying.

Comment by chas

Pierce can be President? I think not, you have to be born here to qualify. ;)

chas

Comment by Virginia

Now, you must understand that I do the recognition type of directing so telling someone how to get to my house, can be very complicated, if they move something that I consider a land mark..put there strictly for my convenience, of course. Soooooooooo, when they moved the public library from the corner where I turn to get home, I was lost for weeks on end…I cannot tell you how many times I ended up at the mall!!! instead of home, which, of course, was not a tragedy, as I am sure I thought I needed whatever, as I was there anyway??? Yes, that must be it!!!! Unfortunately, I found my way home quite nicely the day I was robbed in my driveway. Does God have a sense of humor? I just think he does!!!!!! And where was the boy, who pulled up right behind me every Thursday without fail, which is why I was paying attention and landed at home instead of the mall? Well! so be it, the little thugs. Weren’t they surprised when there was no money in the wallet and all the cards were maxed???? Yeppers…you bet! lol

Comment by elaine

chas, not president! puuuuuuuuuuuuuuurty!

Comment by Virginia

jAh Chas….a detail, and he is purty to the total max, and will be, like Sean, no matter how old he gets!!! Yes!!! Purty, purty. purty. Is that not a good enough reason? Welllllll, perhaps not..I guess :(

Comment by Virginia

Oh Elaine…we are saying the same thing at the same time. We posted Cesar at the same time last nite. I laughed my head off. We are definitely on the same page, my most cunning of secret agents!!! Yes, we are!!! lol

chas, you would probrably make a wonderful candidate.

Comment by Virginia

I think Hillary is staying in for that reason. She is strong, albeit, out of favor by all, apparently. I must think she thinks she will be able to sway supers to her, even tho they may have already committed? It isn’t written in stone until they actually vote, I think, or so I understand. lol geezzz, I can’t hit the keys!!!

Well, yes…Chas would, however, his is not crazy!!!! just smart:):) I wonder who else we have missed, because of the hateful nature of the whole play of the Captains and the Kings??? :)

Comment by PAT NEW PORT RICHEY FL

i am sure the clintons have some sordid something up there sleeve as much as i dont like her politics, i have to say she is tough and she is smart and surely no one can call her a wimp she will stand up and fight to the end no way is she going away a much lesser person would have taken their marbles and gone home a long time ago

Comment by chas

Ms. elaine,

The answer to the Obama thing is easy and I have said it before, race trumps gender in politics.

I wouldn’t be electable Ma’am. I actually know and understand what the Constitution says. ;)

chas

Comment by Virginia

And….of course, the ever present power thing. The junior senator is the one they think can take the white house back. They think the nation is “ready” for this. I would agree, but, why him? There are good men out there, so why this man at this time? His youth, lack of experience, friends, wife!!!! are a very curious bunch of radical leanings. I think they think he can be controlled easier than the Hillary! Yes, I do, however, whereas that may be true of him, they have another think coming if they think they can control the very strange and no lady person, Michelle. Yep, they would have their hands full with her. lol And won’t they be suurrprriisseedd!!! Because, they are just a bit stupid, it would seem, by all accounts? Yes, again, I think that must be so! lol

Comment by Virginia

Aw geezz Chas…the Constitution is an after thought these days, so no worries. lol or so the ACLU and some judges would have us believe???

It might, but she can’t raise money now, she couldn’t as an Ind either.

I still can’t figure out what she was thinking when she started to run. No sane person can believe they could win with a 50% negative rating.

chas

Comment by Virginia

Ah!!! Yes, I love pepsi, altho I don’t drink it anymore…don’t know why exactly. Watching weight, cost and it being here and keeping people out of it, coffee is easier and free at work??? That must be it…the free part at work. lol

Goooood morning Alisyn !! Good morning ALIbloggers!! A personal good morning to Virginia, since she’s the lovely blogger that stayed up with me last night while being a strict mommy. Marshall, chas, Sal, elaine, and Pat .. good morning! Oh wait, I forgot someone…. LORI !! My demi-blog-friend…yay! I’m so very relieved that Gretawire Lori was not you. Of course, deep inside I knew better.

Keeping on subject: I’m not fixing dinner for my mother tomorrow, although I am going to visit and take her a hanging flower pot.

Politics: Where am I politically this morning? The same place I was yesterday. Voting for McCain in November, but not happy about that fact. I honestly think McCain could beat either Clinton or Obama, however, I think the DNC is more concerned about it being easier for McCain to beat Clinton, which is why they will push for her to drop-out. If they put Obama on the ticket, they will have a “better” chance. Why? Heck I don’t know, I’d never ever vote for him even if you paid me to do so and I mean that from the bottom of my toes. Even if you paid me one million dollars to vote for Obama, I could not and would not do it. You say, oh sheila, you so would. If you really knew me, you’d know I wouldn’t. I want to be able to SLEEP at night for goodness sakes!! This man has nothing to offer except FALSE HOPE. NO thanks, I’ll pass.

Off-subject: Wow, am I organized this morning or what ?? I’m shocking myself. If you must know, I slept until 9:15 and it really felt great. Now I’m working on my second cup of coffee. I”m not going to be around as much as I thought today as I have a kitten that is trying to die. I’m heading to the store to get kitten formula and a bottle, she’s all bones and it’s happened really fast.

I really should get a part-time job…..

Comment by Virginia

This is interesting as we watch Bill, yet again, gaff after gaff. I don’t think he wants her to win. That is so clear! He doesn’t want to be “first man” and he doesn’t want to share the spot light with her….of that I am pretty certain. She should have sent him away to stay with his probable new girlfriend(s) until this was all over. Talk about a yukky person!! Well…let’s not! lol

Comment by elaine

what obama has going for him is his speaking when he got up at the democatic convention last time around he wowed everyone he definitely is a mesmerizing speaker but thank goodness there are lots of intelligent people around who can see past that butttttttttttttttttttttttt there are lots of people who are taken in by it.

where hillary is concerned we have been listening to her for so long we all know where she is coming from and all her dirty linen is out there

but obama who knows what is real and what is not i hate slicksters and that is my impression of him

Comment by Virginia

Yeah Sheila, that’s what you need, a part time job!! :) :) I went to bed like a good girl after your baby girl got home. Lori had to go, but might come back we hope. Sal is here, but Marshall is getting ready for company, so he is off. Elaine and you and Pat and Chas….we wait for others to pop in as they have their coffee. Of course, that is all I see? The gods and ghosts may have snatched some into cyber space and they watch but cannot participate? lol

Comment by sheila

I’m getting so tired of hearing about Hillary and her lack of funds. Maybe she’d have to actually tap into more of her investments…you either want this or you don’t.
Bill looks so incredibly stupid standing behind her…I thought the same thing though about Elizabeth Dole. This is where my upbringing comes out I suppose. I really don’t think a woman should be president. It just doesn’t feel right to me. I mean would I want to be head of this household? Heck no, I love the fact that my husband is head of this house, although he respects me greatly and we work as a great team. But when a tough decision comes, he gets final say, but it’s not a control thing. Hard to explain, eh.
So I guess in my mind, when you’re talking about the presidency, it’s similar somehow. Hillary or any woman as our president just doesn’t “feel right” to me. I’m just an old fashioned girl.

Comment by elaine

Good morning Sheila.
Virginia, why wouldn’t Bill want her to be president, if she was to be president she would go down in history as the first woman president and he would be part of that history.

Right now I”m watching about the cyclone food rationing. Makes me feel really bad actually because we have a whole shelf of such types of food. We’ve really reduced how many starches we’re eating each day.

HHmmm YOu know what??? I’m going into my pantry right now and I’m pulling 75% of my rice, potato and pasta boxes out and bagging it up. We have a huge benevolence program at church, so I’m going to drop it off over there today.

Not trying to toot my own horn here… not looking for praise… I was just thinking out-loud. I do that alot if you haven’t noticed yet. Maybe my out-loud thoughts can encourage others.

hope you slept well

Comment by Virginia

Pat…I agree in that he is a very charismatic speaker. I believe also there are many uninformed who will believe the promises with no inspection of what it really is. I think, however, there are just as many who are really just clueless i.e. celebs and chats on the sidewalk…..that group is just as apt to vote name recognition. So, I think that group is an NA, in so far as they will push the button for their party, regardless, and the others will not vote for the junior senator because of his name…and then there is the group who won’t bother to vote at all. We are about to find out. I think McCain will win, altho the most unexpected candidate, for sure, and not the one I would have plucked out of the group. He may be just the man, to our collective surprise, that is exactly the one with the character and credentials to beat this socialist/marxist agenda which is being thrust upon us as an American new idea. Not, not, not. We do recognize this evil for what it is, and hopefully will prevail. Well…we will prevail I am sure. lol

Comment by elaine

Sheila, I used to think like that too, but look at other countries where women rule and what about Queens?

Comment by chas

Slept fine Ma’am, thank you.

That’s a nice thought sheila, too bad those knuckleheads aren’t allowing much relief to get through.

Comment by Virginia

Toot away Sheila. As we stumble along trying to address everything sad, the church is an excellent place to make these programs work. We have one, and I will do just that, in concert with and support of your effort! Good reminder, as I sit here trapped. I am sure hubby as already contributed at church, where I am sure they are actively addressing this, as they alway do at every major, and minor as a matter of fact, event. A good reminder to stay focused. There are other things going on than pedicures, elections, fluff books, and cunning secret agents!!! lol

Comment by sheila

I don’t like Queens either. lol I think it’s easier for people that were born and raised in those countries because it’s all they’ve ever known, it’s been their countries culture for who knows how long. So if I was born in one of those countries, I’d probably have a different feel about the whole thing.
Times have changed though, I am seeing that through my daughter. She’s very respectful, yes, she’s very independent. She let’s her boyfriend pay for most dates, but then insist to pay for some herself. Difference here though is that he has a job and she doesn’t. When she pays for a date, he’s really appreciative because he knows that she had to save for a couple of weeks to be able to do that.

Comment by Virginia

Well Chas…knuckheads is a bit complimentary for that group. I mention again…why are we surprised when despicable people do despicable things? Nope…no surprise. The hunta doesn’t care about “those” people who may have perished..good riddance I think is their point of view. Further, we can’t get in there, so we don’t even know how many casualties there are. Wicked business for sure. Blackmail, much like the Katrina and the mayor of New Orleans…yes, I think so, another despicable man, who didn’t care and does not care about “those” people. lol

although i think mc cain is not the strongest in some areas in the area that is most important to me (it might be a woman thing) is his love for this country which i dont think even is a clue to the two democrats i beleive he will protect us with his whole being just as president bush has

9-11 is never out of my mind i can still feel the anger i felt at that date and it drives me cloee to insane to think people have so put that way out of their minds

Mc cain would make me feel safe in that respect as to his other policies no matter who is elected they cant get anything done without that do nothing congress we have who coud care less about us because they are so wrooied about their re elections

immigration is a problem that gets talked to death and every once in a while some little band aid is put on it until some other elction comes along and then it is dragged out and talked to death again i have always believed that bush idea of giving them cards was a good idea at least we could maybe keep track of them its not only those coming across our mexican border there are many people who come here with work or school visas and just never leav and no one knows where any of then are

It sickens me how this relief effort is possibly going to work now. They are trying something today apparently…putting a picture of the government rulers on the relief boxes, covering up the part that says Relief Aid from Tailand. They are also saying that the government is “deciding” themselves who gets those boxes. The worry is that the food still won’t be permitted to go into the villages that need it.
You know what I’d like to do with bad people like that ??? Starve them all.

OH Elaine….Bill isn’t interested in anybody but Bill. His behavior reflect that, so that is not a question at all. I am not a psychiatrist, but, the man has issues. Her presidency would not reflect on him, except badly maybe. He is the “first black president” and does not want her to share an anything “first” with him. I believe that, and it is pretty apparent as he continues to make one gaff right after another. I don’t believe it for one minute, unless he has had a stroke, or early onset of dementia or Alzheimer’s…part of the list of dementia, with other on a list of things age related, actually. lol

Hubby is off to church for the festivities related to may and mothers day and all things Christian that may apply. Toll free keeps ringing on my phone!!! Geezzz!!! lol

Comment by elaine

Virginia, I have questioned the fact myself, wondering why would he behave certain ways and say certain things, it’s not like he never has run for president before. LOL Out of all he is the most likely to know how to behave during a campigne for presidency. I do admire Chelsea though, the way she looks at her mom with such admiration, I’m touched every time I see that.

I think Chelsea is amazing too. She has survived, so far anyway, unscathed by that horrible father who had no consideration for his position as both president and a father. I am hardly a prude, nor am I naive, but his behavior, in this time of instant pictures and messaging was just stupid, as well as morally decadent! Oh yes..I think I am absolutely right about this one. Another really hateful part of his personage as well. He loves Bill, and only Bill period. lol I think…lol

but my life is good i am healthy and loved so who could ask for more than that

I am very lucky so far. They are all here, and I am surprised by that. They have been all over, but, always come back home..again, I say, much to my surprise. We live in the capital of Ohio, so it should be no surprise. Lots going on here all the time. Surrounded by colleges and universities as well, hospitals, junior college, oh gee…there is lots going on. Active German and Irish communities, as well as Italian, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. The one boy is in Atlanta right now for a few weeks with his job, and then will be off with a friend for parts south of the border when he gets back. I hate these trips too…south of the border does not hold the charm it did when we lived down there and went frequently across to Nuevo Laredo. Oh well….life is dangerous, so the angels must be called upon daily!!! Yes, they must. I found cookies in the kitchen when I went to get a cupa…yummm!! I hope they weren’t supposed to be a surrrprissse!!!! :) :)

We haven’t contemplated a move to Fl. Have friends that are snow birds, and a few who have moved actually, and friends who are living there because it is their home. I love to go visit, but, I bet you do miss the comfort of a rainy day and chilly fall walks and all that goes with a climate that changes, and you think you will die, just about the time the sun comes out again, and it is time to plant the flowers, and summer is upon us, yet again. Yep, I bet you do miss it from time to time. We lived everywhere, but I did miss the southwest and the sun when we moved to yankee country. lol

The comments regarding the taking care of the old. We have been very lucky in that mom died quite suddenly, in fact, we couldn’t get there in time. Dad is still here, of course, and did spend a little time in the nursing home, as the move was traumatic to the max…..and very unnerving for all concerned. I think it is always best to leave people in place if possible. Dad was an independent soul, with his airplanes and missionary projects, and friends around him, both those that took gross advantage, and those that were better stewards to their friendship. With mom gone, it just didn’t matter…he is retired military, so he has his pension and he was free to do as he pleased. He was still teaching when he was 80yrs old, so he is pretty amazing. Having him here is great fun and we are having a ball, but, the moment could come when that is not so. We just take it one day at a time. lol My daughter is a skilled care taker, and so that has been an amazing gift…the “Hand” is ever present I think…..He’s always there, as promised…yep!! lol

You are off, but, yes I do. A deck with a patio attached and a pool we put on said patio every summer for all to enjoy. We spend the whole time out there from the moment we can until the snow falls and drives us in doors, and the dark of winter descends to all things sunny and wonderful.
The baby girl just got here, and altho we have established I am a bit confined, she does pop in to check on her grandfather and her mama!!!! Good kids all…yes, I agree. Don’t work too hard, and I will check back in to see who has a free moment…don’t want anyone talking about me!!!!!!!!!!!! I (((( willllllllll rrrreeeettttuuurrrnnn))))……lol

Well hello again Alisyn and the Ali-Bloggers.

Picked up a birthday card for my dad and some kitten food for the sick one. She’s not doing good at all away from her bros and sis, so I am dropper feeding her and then putting her back in the box. Mama hasn’t been back for a while.
I think we’re going to put all of them in the garage tonight with a litter box for mama. She can’t seem to keep herself out of the wet grass enough for these kittens to ever get dry. None of them are looking great.

Jenna Bush is getting married today, good for her. It’s great that they are locking out the media and keeping the wedding attendance low. My goodness i think we had more people at our wedding and we are no bodies.

Town was a zoo, especially the garden store. The line was so long that it caused me to walk all the way through to the other end to go to the registered less visited. A good walk never hurt anyone.

Hi all…we have been watching cowboy movies…grandpa and I, that is. Hubby is mowing the lawn, went to fine the weed wacker only to discover that one of the kids had walked off with it. He was just a teeeeeennnnyyyy angry, but, I told him to call and chill. Obviously it was time for him to rest…don’t rail..go with the flow!! :) It’s back and he is out to finish the job….pizza for dinner, so all is well, and cowboys are still on…haven’t watched the news, so I don’t have a clue what disaster has happened…and it is very pleasant I might add. Soooooooo, all is well???? :)

All is well. The media is all over this delegate issue though about obama taking the lead. Like I care? I’d love to get Lori’s take on it all this afternoon.

Well….my son is sitting here watching a war movie, it’s pretty violent.

I believe we are going out for the evening after I fix us some supper. We’ve already gone out to eat twice this week, so I must cook us something this afternoon.

It’s going to rain tomorrow, so hubby is getting ready to mow a bit outside. I’m cleaning the kitchen and doing laundry. Sure wish I had a steamer as I have way too much ironing to do.

I am in the mood for some cards. Anyone play on-line somewhere? I like euchre!!

Comment by Virginia

Well, finally!!! I was getting ready to go all the way out and come back. Tall T with Randolph Scott!!!!! He was also purty!! Must be lawn day due to rain tomorrow. That is why he is doing it today also. lol

Comment by Virginia

Sheila…so where are you going? Or did you say and I didn’t find that…..or is it just out for the pure enjoyment. I also like euchre, but haven’t played for a long time. There was a table at Christmas and some were playing, but, I didn’t. Was busy with other guests. Was fun listening to them. Oh course, we have a card club, but, that has also not been active for several years. Everyone just got busy in the middle. We keep threatening to start up again, but it seems that things just keep happening, so we continue to wait. Maybe I will gather everyone up after I am healed! :)

Chas…it’s so nice out people are busy with the outside. I would be too probably if I wasn’t doing the ankle thingy. It has been a nice quiet day, actually, other than the weed waker incident and the irritation factor. He’s happy now, and the job is done, and they didn’t hang out after they brought it back…skedaddled out like a scaled cat for sure.
Are you there Sheila? Is the kitty doing ok…holding it’s own, so to speak. The mama won’t take care of it if she thinks it won’t live anyway. We had a pup die because mama take care of her. Lots of tears…but, it happens sometimes. He was so new, there was no saving him. :(

Comment by Virginia

Hi Pat…yes they did. The Bush girls were not off limits like Chelsea was, and I thought that was too bad. But, they can take it and people were not too hard on them. I think the country was in tune with the kids being off limits mostly. One good thing that came out of the Clinton years anyway…:):)

So you have kittens in your front yard to see to Pat? They are adorable for sure. Is there a shelter for cats? We have one, and it is wonderful. Comment by Virginia

This is really slow today….but, Randolph Scott killed Richard Boone the evil bandit, and walked into the sunset with the rich widow, saved to our great relief!!!!!! Now, John Wayne…purty for sure!!! In Three Faces West. That will be fun. I think hubby is back to church for something else that is going on. I have lost track of everything. At least my fingers are working now!!! I was getting a little worried there for a minute. :)

Comment by sheila

I’m in and out today. Hubby is working on the weed wacker and being very vocal about the whole event. Then we have a loud war movie here in the family room. My son is a real history buff, I think I have shared, and he can sit and watch war movies for days. He will tape stuff off the history channel and watch it after school. My grandpa used to tape movies off of cable before we ever had dvr or tivo. He’s gone now, but son will still sit and watch them. One day he was watching a Navy Seal documentary. He says he wants to go into Criminal justice on the federal level. He’ll do it to, smart boy that he is and nothing stops him from learning as much as he can.. always been like a sponge. He’d be a good history teacher, too, but he says that doesn’t pay enough unless he became like a college professor. He’s very good at Bible too, so he’s considered going to one of the Christian colleges and teaching Bible history. Oh who knows what the future hold for this boy? Yeah, did I mention that he’s only 15? Even when he was eight years old, you’d think you were talking to a 30 year old. He can sit on the floor with a two year old and do a puzzle, then sit on the couch with an old man and talk about D-Day for hours.
I’m very proud of who he’s become, can you tell? He recently convinced his guitar teacher to NOT vote for Obama and why. LOL

So I wonder if people who work for Fox follow any of these webpages on their day off or do they make a promise to their families to stay off? If I were Alisyn, I would stay away. She has a big family to take care of and tends to work some stinky hours, that’s for sure. But I’m sure they are very proud of their momma.

The kitten isn’t going to live long. :( Only so much I can do. Momma cat is just sitting outside of the box waiting.

Comment by Virginia

Oh yes, I think so. A wedding is always nice, and I happen to think they deserve a moment of peace from this hateful atmosphere. The ranch was a perfect place. Good for her!!!! But, I would really like to see her and the dress and some of the festivities…nosy? Yes…for sure. We’ll see what they decide to do. And of course, I would like to see Laura and what mama wore. Is everyone having to do F5 a lot, or is it just me? Maybe I will go out and come back in….hummm, I must ponder. :)

Comment by sheila

Oh..where are we going tonight? I don’t know yet. Probably just for a drive, maybe for some ice cream and a movie from the Redbox.

Maybe the daughter and boyfriend will come home early enough this evening to play euchre with hubby and I. Otherwise, I may play on pogo games. That’s a great gaming site.

Hi Sheila….I think maybe President??? Why not, I say…the heck with criminal justice. :) :) Sounds like he is going to have a lot of choices, and I think you have every right to just be thrilled to death. It is just nice!!!! So, where are you going tonight??? I am watching westerns I guess, and hubby is out the door for a while. Grandpa has settled down a bit, watching the movies. He really likes them…but, not Gene Autry…don’t know why??? Very curious. He ask me how many movies John Wayne had made, and I told him…a lot!!!!
I have a history, theology kid too. He is bumping forty now, and it is fun to listen to all the kids when they get together. Informed and fun…yep! Makes a mom smile biggggggg!!!! After all the sleep deprivation that is a nice reward? Yes, I think so. It’s really nice with a little life experience sprinkled in. I just sit and listen…toooooooooooo fun!!!! I am with ya Sheila, for sure.
I am guessing no one sees to these sites?? Maybe Alysin might peek…maybe??? I don’t know when she would have time, actually…but, maybe. :)

I think Ellen is a natural and absolutely hilarious! I love her show, however, don’t get to watch it often. I don’t know what I am doing….well, I have been right here actually, lately!!! Yes, you can put things on the site for people to see…for sure. Or no one said it couldn’t be done, so go for it. Of course, I love the whole Bush group. I think public service is a great thing, and one would have to love it to do it…and I definitley always thought he would be happier on his ranch. It’s almost like his mama said, get in their child and save the country. His legacy, if not corrupted by evil people, should show that. I am sure he made mistakes, but, his agenda was never “evil” I don’t think, or self serving, obviously! Just my opinion. I did hear there is a new movie coming out on himself and Laura…coming out in Oct just before the elections. I wish they would leave them alone! I think they think he is running again??? Anyway…it has been a nice day…we love John Wayne too, so this should be fun!!!! :) And Sheila…we used to take drives on Sat night and listen to Prairie Home Companion, with Garrison Keeler (sp)…now, there is a lib with a great show, and he is funny no matter who he is targeting…lately we haven’t done that either..well, grandpa is the reason. I don’t like to leave him very long…just in case :) :) I have never played games on the puter, but hubby does all the time….:)

Comment by PAT NEW PORT RICHEY FL

yes she did say it was a lot of hits but never actually a number

Comment by Virginia

Now Chas….you simply must be patient. Ellen is fine. She put her agenda back in her pocket, so it is fun to see her. She is genuinely funny…and unlike Rosey, she decided to to her comedy and leave the other personal life decisions for another place…private…that makes it all ok. She seems to be healthy of mind and spirit, and everything else is ok. Yep, I like her, tho I don’t watch her.
Sooooo, fish and chips? Now that sounds delicious for sure. And the baby girl is always fun to talk to I am sure, even if she only politely giggles at dad’s jokes. If we are doing bug jokes, however, I might understand???? Yep! And we know I didn’t even get that one. Had to be explained! Sheesh…I am verrryyy slow from time to time…well, maybe more often than that? Yep…oh, this is better. I am telling you guys..I couldn’t get my fingers to type! Chas…. so sorry that I changed the subject to Ellen. I have something else to say and then I won’t mention her again, K? I do not support such a life style as she chooses. She never used to bring it up which is why i loved her show… she was so unlike Rosie. But this year she did change and even she said it would be an “In Your Face” season…and she wasn’t kidding either. She speaks of her significant often, which does annoy me. Which is why I tape it on the DVR and fast forward to anything I do not like, that way my time isn’t wasted watching her talk of trashy stuff.
I guess she figures now that she has a big enough fan base to be safe from getting kicked off the network.

Now…since I messed up the afternoon for Chas… I will sit quietly and not say the “E” word again. LOL

Comment by Virginia

Oh my God…that was hilarious. I need to go get a kleenex!!! She is such a good comedian…absolutely. I guess I should find her and make a better effort to watch. I don’t know what I am doing? Probably fixing dinner when she comes on…it’s about four or so, I think. I will have to look and see. After all, one could listen as well, even if busy cooking….thanks Sheila..that was excellent for the smiley lines for sure. Just what the doctor ordered!! lol

Comment by chas

Actually she moans and calls me lame or something like that…lol

And I work so I never see her and most likely wouldn’t watch if I could.

Comment by Virginia

Well, thanks a lot!!!! That is why I stopped watching to begin with, so I guess I will just wait for you to put on the funny stuff. I don’t want it in my face..please! That is too bad. It matters not, it is personal, so just stick to what you do best.
Pizza is here, and hubby is getting ready to leave. He is such a nice guy!! :)
Chassssssss!!! Are you there??? We will behave, I promise. Where is Will? Did he take the weekend off? or is he on and not talking. He is prob in his hammock relaxing with the fire pit. I am sooooo jealous!!!!!! :)

oh my gosh i am watching fox they have on these amazing computers

Comment by Virginia

I am like we all seem to be, watching FOX anyway, but, especially right now. This election has got everyone on their toes waiting for the next thing to happen. I am sure that is what is on, unless I have switched over to sci-fi for Star Trek, or something else fun and not of this world (as far as we know, anyway)…or Dog Whisperer…just depends on what the pundits are talking about and who they have on. In the summer it doesn’t come up as we are all outside. AND, now I will be rushing home to see what is going on here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes….so between this, and my forwarder e-mailing girlfriend, I may continue to have button marks on the tush, even after I am healed!!!!!! :)

WAKE UP Chas…….no sleeping after eating whilst listening to us!!! Pat, I am just getting so I can use this, and they have something out that is going to replace, in fact, have to replace as this will be obsolete??? Pleasssseee nooooooo!!!!! I simply must look into the DVR thing or tivo. It must be done, so I can learn how to use it and too much fun when nothing is on…yes! I have plenty of time, so I should call my cable company Monday and ask about it. Prob not expensive either…yes, I must remember to do that. :) And make the mortg paymt, so they won’t be talking about me on the news!!!! :)

Comment by chas

Ms. Virginia,

I have TiVo and it is true, it changes the way you watch TV.

The only time I see an AD is when I watch the News on FOX or a football game.

I can’t even tell you when my favorites shows are on. I watch them from the now playing selection.

Hey, have you tried your computer lesson yet?

chas

Comment by Virginia

This is not affecting me as I am now full, or I would have to have a hungry manic event!!! I don’t think one thing has been mentioned yet that I don’t like or would like. Yunmmmy…Gray’s Anatomy is one that we like also. With the news, again, I haven’t seen a lot of what I do watch normally. I liked Life, the one about the detective that was wrongfully imprisoned and when he got out they had to pay him a fortune, but, he went back to the job, and is trying to find out who really committed the crime. Now, this excellent show was on for five seconds, and the strike happened and I haven’t seen it come back on. Did anyone get into the Heroe’s show? It’s gone too, so we will never know if the world gets saved or not…strike, again bumped it off. Now, Burn Notice is just plain old fashioned fun to watch and it is coming back on..except I keep forgetting about it. They are showing re-runs right now, and will premier with new shows in June sometime..now, I love that one, and am glad to see it come back. I am not going to proof, so figure it out if I leave something out!!! I am so windy sometimes, if I proof it takes forever. :) Did I say sometimes???? geezzz!! :) :)

Comment by sheila

what’s going on ?

chas….I knew you could handle it or I wouldn’t have brought it up. You’ve shown your thick skinned when we talk about those foot massages. ;)

On a sad note, the kitten has passed on. For the best I think as it was beginning to be miserable. The other three have perked up now and I have cleaned out their box, given them new food and water. Now I have to watch and make sure the stupid mama comes back. She was here earlier and stays just close enough to see them. So mean. This is going to be her last litter as this is her third and she isn’t being responsible like normal.

I’m glad Fox news isn’t on right now. It is a refreshing change. lol I get too caught up in it all. The boy’s movie is over and now he wants to watch Schindler’s List. We haven’t let him see that yet, but he’s done so much research about it all that he may as well. It’s pretty a pretty rough movie. BUT, it’s good that we don’t ever forget. It’s really nice outside though, he needs to go outside for a long while.

What should I fix for supper? Tomorrow I do nothing for the family, which will be a refreshing change. lol So I guess I will get off my buttocks and fix something to eat. Smoked sausage, pork n beans .. and maybe some fried red potatoes.

My son says that Mama cat is back ! yay! She’s actually laying in the box with them. Maybe she did sense that the kitten was dying and didn’t know what to do so she stayed away.
We have people that want these kittens so I am really hoping they live… they are really pretty. Four cats is enough…barn or no barn.

Chas….I have not but will. It has just been that kind of day…nothing going on actually, but, everything going on. I am positive I will need to be able to concentrate :) :) if I am going to do this…so, dad has been waxing nostalgic, lots of questions, and hubby has been in and out, and the kids zoomed in with the weed whacker and flew out before he had a chance to chastis them…one of those kind of days.
That’s what everyone says. I think part of the hesitation was the learning of, so I think that is a pretty dumb reason not to take advantage of this new technology. I am getting so brave, now that I have moved out of the just e-mail part of my electronic experience. Work stuff, is like e-mailing….and pre-set programs, so no real experience with new anything. Nice, as one is comfortable with the puter, but, that is all work is. So, yes tivo or DVR….and, no, I haven’t done my lesson yet. It should be quiet in the morning for a couple of hours, and I thought I would emplement the instructions then so as not to be disturbed.
The hubby is going to a ball game, not to church. I was wondering what on earht was going on there. He’s already been once today…I really should pay better attention!!!!! :)

We used to watch Survivor, but haven’t gotten into it this time. We like American Idol and I am voting for David Cook to win it all. We used to watch 24, that was an awesome show..hope they bring it back, but we started watching it from someone’s complete season DVD set. So we do NOT watch it live, we DVR it and flip through the commercials. Let’s see, we watch House and Bones… and Hell’s Kitchen.
We have season dvd packs of Alias and X-files..Stargate SG. We’re also MASH people, still don’t have all the seasons yet though.

I’m not sure about Cable, Virginia, if they have a DVR type system or if you have to purchase a TiVo, but it’s good money spent. We have Dish network as our provider.

Totally agree with chas, you will never watch Tv the same again. I can’t stand watching commercials now and even refuse at times. lol

Ms. Sheila, if I didn’t like it I could always leave.

The massage thing didn’t really bother me. Fact is I can’t recall a single lady I went with in my single days that didn’t like them. So it’s not like I don’t know you ladies like certain kinds of special care.

I never quite understood that, but hey what the heck it worked well for me…lol

Geezzzzzzzzz!! No wonder we all get along! I like all those shows, and I miss a lot. Then, I may be up too late to watch a re-run. I guess this is pretty dumb! We will implement this immediately. I actually think WOW does the DVR? Well, I will call and find out. You are absolutely correct and dumb to not get this done. :) The I can go on my merry way and never have to worry about being on the couch poised again???? Well, maybe poised, but not for my favorite show, only to find out they have canceled it for an emergency special of the junior senator throttling Hillary in a moment of madness, and Michelle has blocked Bill, effectively I might add, and he has been permanently injured…….well, perhaps I should stop there, as there are potential children peaking over Sheila’s shoulder?????? Yep..betcha there are….:)

I watched a little of O last nite when I went to bed, and then again when I got up at the crack of dawn thismornig, so I don’t think I am going to watch it one more time. Was it very good? I kept getting distracted by one thing or another…oh! Hubby had the remote, so I did watch part of it late, but, went to sleep. That’s right. The McCain interview…I am not interested. I did watch Hill because I was curious. Not curious about the boy. Waiting to see if the junior senator is going to come on. Are we taking bets??? NO..he will not go one. Doesn’t have to. He’s got the nod, so why take the chance. NO…he won’t come on….:)

I am sure I don’t need my pill anyway. In fact, after pondering, I think indeed it is NOT the pill, but the nails!!!! Yes. I do think that is it. The hair has grown and the grey is peeking out arond the face, and so you can imagine what the nails look like. I can practically pick my fork up from the kitchen table whilst at the puter table. Comment by Virginia

Geezzzz! Brother and nephews and babies, are in Missouri, and sis is in Tex this weekend with her boy and family, I think, but lives in Okla. Do I need to turn the news on? It will scare dad to death…he remembers some times, and will worry a little…it is that time of year you know, and common really. One just holds their breath, and try to make sure your house is built where the Indians used to camp…no worries. And that is the truth, told to me by my grandmother as I sat terrified as there was no basement or cellar…..as she calmly told me not to worry. So, I didn’t, as her house was sitting right in the smack of the middle of said spot! Here I am…must be true..:):)

Thanks Lori…he is a great man and a very nice father…lucky girl that I am. I always tell him I am his favorite…when he asks me how many kids does he have…that is…so I start out with me, and I tell him, of course, I am his favorite, but, there is of course, the sis, and he isn’t to tell her, because she thinks she is his favorite, and of course, there is the baby brother, and being the only boy he is positive he is the only one and the favorite, so we have to keep this a secret so as to not hurt anyones feelings…by the time I am done with this, he is laughing and smiling. He probably thinks I am a crazy person and doesn’t have a clue who I am, but, thinks he better smile and act ok, as he is definitely in the house with someone who has escaped from the nut house!!!!…Hubby came down today, looked at dad, and said bye..she’s all yours grandpa!!! Dad just laughed hard..they are surrounding me!! If you push F12 nothing happens…just thought I would tell everyone just in case..pushed it trying to backspace…..:):):)

LORI ! Yay, you’re back. Euchre, what a great card game. I have a membership at Club Pogo, but you can play there for free, too, even with club members. They have member and non-member rooms. Members can play in any of the rooms, but non-members can only play in free rooms. We should have a card party !! ON-line of course !! They have dozens of great card games. You can chat and play….and have visitors watching who can chat, too. It’s a blast.

Elaine! welcome back to the party. We missed you.

So Lori, what do you think ???? about this pledging of delegates???? what do you think about them saying Obama has a lead? I’ve been waiting for you to get here and discuss.

But…is the weekend blog supposed to be NON-political??? If so, I have broken the rules a bundle today.

FYI…to whomever cares, we are having chef salads for supper. totally changed my mind on the menu.

Comment by Lori

Sheila! Hello, sorry to read about your kitten.

Yes a card party sounds GREAT! Ill have to check out the site you mentioned. When I left yahoo several years ago I think I had something like 25,000 games! LOL Sad but true.

Hmmm my take on pledged Super delegates? Well, LOL I don’t know much more than you do, for some unknown reason they haven’t called me this afternoon to discuss it with me..LOL Maybe they are giving me the weekend off??? LOL

LOl seriously, I would have to say Obama has the nomination sewn up, unless something huge happens between now and Denver. Its all over but the partying me thinks… Wouldn’t you agree?

Comment by sheila

I don’t know? how long has this greenroom Ali-blog been around? Who asked Ali for a weekend blog ? was is Chas or Marshall ? Well, I really think that this is it…notice that she even put the word “Weekend” in her title.

You know….all those years that I was a Sheriff, they never gave me a badge. that always ticked me off.

Leaving for a while….have to take the boy somewhere.

Anyone for some cards? If so, go to Pogo.com and get yourself a log-in while I’m gone. lol maybe we’ll meet over there later for some EXTRA entertainment.

Chas…which CSI? There is a CSI on almost every nite now, of some sort. Kind of like Law and Order, and forensic files, and the fbi show…kind of fun, I think. If you are talking about the CSI shows, I like the original one on Thursday nite from Las Vegas..the others are good, but, that is my favorite. I like the real ones too, with the real doctors…depending on my mood. Yes, I am going to like my new DVR or tivo thingy alot. :)
Lori…I thought the delegates could pledge, but, these pledges were subject to change until the actual vote, which is why Dean wants the vote as soon as possible, and Hillary would like it to wait…I think it should wait if there is any reason to think there is something wrong. They didn’t let me vote on that tho :( :) :)

Comment by PAT NEW PORT RICHEY FL

well i am getting pretty tired so i am going to sign off for tonight talk to everyone tomorrow and wish all the moms and mrs chas a happy mothers dya s

Comment by Lori

hmmm Virginia, not sure what you are speaking of, butttttt yes all delegates, super or elected can change their mind anytime until the final round in Denver, obviously. Dean has suggested that the “supers” declare who they are backing before the convention, (end of June I think he said) as to give the party more time to unite and rally and focus on the republican nominee.

As I said I don’t think it matters if they wait or do it now, I can’t see anyway Obama doesn’t get the nod,

I think Sheila is coming back, maybe. I thought she was getting taken out tonite?
What is the answer Lori so I don’t have to go and look it up somewhere and get lost and never be able to find my way back and end up in the land of really ((((scary)))) stuff.

Virginia no vote will take place until the convention in Denver…

Comment by Virginia

I thought that was how it was. They probably wouldn’t, so they might as well vote, then. That’s what I told my daughter when she ask, and so I am glad I was right. I am thinking that is why Hillary doesn’t want them to vote then, so she can have another shot at turning some of them. I don’t see that happening, as they do need to all get on the same page and mount their campaign..I agree. This should be interesting for sure. lol

Comment by Virginia

The convention in Denver is when? He wants a vote in June I thought…geezzz! Too many cowboy movies today!!! lol

Comment by Lori

Hillary probably has some bills to pay..LOL Also what does she have to gain by dropping out? I have to disagree with the notion that she is “trying to trash Obama” so she can get into the white house in 4 years… That is just silly.

Comment by Lori

He doesn’t want a vote in June , he wants the super to have declared by june… No voting until the convention… mmmmm not sure of the date virginia I know it’s late August.

Comment by chas

Ms. Lori

How wonderful to see you. So why do you think, (besides just a mean nature), Hillary is going to hang on?

Honestly, you guys haven’t had this bad a time since that debocle that created the cluster mess you call a primary.

I know the party line is we’ll be fine and that’s OK. I don’t accept that, but the GOP is messed up too but as much as I hate it, I can’t change it.

So why?

chas

Comment by Virginia

I watch them all too Chas, and that one is also my favorite. I do love Gary Senes (sp), so I think it is the writers maybe? I just like the characters on the original, I guess. No more talk of~~~~~pedicures~~~~shhhhh. I promise! :) :):)
Lori…I think I just have not paid attention as much as I should have what with everything else that has been going on…that is, to the drama, of course, but the convention dates, etc. Of course, I know nothing is set until they actually vote, but, it is crazy what is going on, so I thought they were having some sort of something for the super before the rest of the show started. I agree. Obama will get the nod…so, I cannot figure out what the Hillary is thinking..it is sooooooooo expensive. We are about to find out, in just a minute tho. lol

Comment by Lori

LOL Well I think Hillary has some bills to pay, and there isn’t a reason for her to get out? is there?

We have had a lot of primaries that went all the way to the convention. This is not a problem for us, we are use to this, it is only an issue with the republicans.. LOl wishful thinking me thinks.. LOl we we are capable of a healthy debate and then are able to come together too..

I am being honest when I say this is all wishful thinking by our opposition.

Comment by Virginia

Well………..duh!!!! I fee dumb.:( Then I am back to the same conjecture. She is staying in to see if she can change the minds of said delegate! That’s what I thought…I don’t think she can, but, if I were her, i might think I a could. She is pretty determined, and she has a good case to put forward, I think. This will be very interesting..for sure, regardless of how one is going to vote. lol

Comment by chas

I also like Smallville even though it flys, (intentional pun), in the Superman legend.

chas

Comment by Lori

Well yes Virginia I think she would like to change some minds, but mostly there is no reason for her to quit, she has come this far why not finish? What would be the advantage of her to quit? Plus Ill say it again, she has bills to pay..lol

Comment by Lori

Chas, Im sorry I have to disagree I don’t think we are in a mess. This is a presidential election for heavens sake.. You are a study in history, you surely remember the smokey back room days? We are far from that.. We had a large field of some very good people, and this is just the process.. Its like making sausage.. LOl It ain’t prety but its good.. ;-)

Grandpa just got up and started for his bedroom. I ask him where is was going and he said to the bathroom….I told him he sure could use the chair in his room if he wished. He said, oh no, and ask me where the bathroom was. :) When I painted the family room I moved his chair, and he thought we moved!! :) :) I told him no we hadn’t, he was just looking at a different wall!!!!!! He did have to laugh at that one. He sleeps now, in his chair. He is exhausted from this nostalgic day! I can switch over for a little while and see what is going on…if Tex and Mi and Okla have been whisked away to the land of Oz. I need to worry, you know, if I do!!!!! lol I guess as long as I know the answers to his questions I am prob all right?????? lol

Why get out? For one the math isn’t there anymore. For two she can’t raise enough money. A fair amount of supporters claim that they will cross lines if their person isn’t the one.

Real glad it is only a GOP problem Ms. Lori…lol

This is not to say that McMedia doesn’t have a bucket of problems of his own. But the only people taking real shots at him are Clinton and Obama. That is if they aren’t taking shots at each other.

I don’t mean to pick on you, because I know you are a party person. But I also respect how smart you are and know you must have a more insightful line than the DNC does.

chas

PS besides, I really like you which means I must find a way to pick on you…lol

Comment by Virginia

I agree Lori. I wouldn’t quite and I will be stunned if she does. You are absolutely right and in fact, it is almost traditional that she should go to the convention. That is why I think Dean is an idiot and a trouble maker and stupid on top of it. I can’t stand the man and I think what he has done is despicable. He should have let the people decide this! But no, mister, I want to manage the outcome! Sheesh!!!!!! He gives a good democrat a bad name!!!! I didn’t like him before and I don’t like him now. I am writing in “the judge” and Tony Snow, and Alysin for the Speaker of the House. That is my tic and I am sticking tuit!!!!!!!! :) :) I can’t seem to get a grass roots going for this most excellent plan however. I just don’t understand, in that I think it is entirely brilliant!!!! lol

LOL Well Virginia it won’t surprise you I don’t agree that Dean is an idiot..In fact I think he is extremely intelligent, and a good party chairman, and most dems love him.

LOL It’s his job to try and make nice within his party.. That’s his job and that’s what he is trying to do… With all due respect he really doesn’t care what you think, you won’t vote for his party’s nominee anyway, ever, ever..

That would be nice I think. Then it would be easier to find you guys!!!!!! lol I was mouth watering for the fish and chips, by the way. I’m so slow I have to play catch up here. We have to pay attention cause Pat always goes and lays down at about eight, so I have to remember to talk fast and pay attention to the clock also! She gets plenty of rest…that’s why she is so sweet I think. I must try that and see if it works for me!!!! I should let you see what this looks like before I fix it. Geezzz!!!! NOT you wouldn’t be able to read it…looks like code…….ahha..I could develop this for the undercover agents???? Yes, a plan to go with the plan!!! I must ponder this for a minute….pondering…….lol

Comment by chas

S’OK Ms. Lori. But I don’t really listen to that stuff. I base my observations on party history and history in general.

But I will not press this any further.

But when this is all over I would expect you to acknowledge I was correct. As I will do if you are.

That way we can remain friends on other sides of a fence, but in the same field of concern. The good of the Country.

chas

Comment by chas

Actually Ms. Virginia it would be much easier, and over, if the Dems ran the primary the way the EC ran, which is what the GOP does.

I chuckle every time I even think of the irony of the notion of being able to ignore the system so they can pick a “better” prospect.

Oh well…lol

chas

Comment by Lori

Oh politics never is a reason to end a friendship. Two reasonable people can disagree.

As far as saying your right? Ill say it now I don’t think our two views are mutually exclusive, the democratic party has not decided on a nominee, hence they are not in agreement. I just disagree that it is a big deal and will have any lasting effect.

Comment by Lori

well our “system” doesn’t make sense If you are thinking about the primary elections the same as we run our general election. but of course it isn’t is it?

Comment by Virginia

Weeellllll not exactly. I have been a registered dem for some forty eight years now. Hubby was chief union steward for the company he worked for, and representative to the union for some thirty years before he retired, so that is not exactly true. Soooooo, this Irish Catholic family has deep roots to the party, and so does the Oklahoma bible belt group also…..long time dems all. Very deep roots and long, long history. So, tho this site is FOX there are many who may be going away from the party for the same reason Reagan and Heston, and others have gone away. Not because we are not democrat, but that the party has left us and aligned themselves with a very left of left agenda which is alarming for someone my age anyway. Ah!!! yes, and they could do a poll right out of my house with all these people who hang out, and every single one of them has an opinion…gee, I can’t imagine where that came from :) , and very concrete ideas of why..it is fun all the time, I must say, much like this place. Did I mention I love this lovely place and the people in it???? lol

Well, I do agree that “the judge” has funny hair. He has moved away from the party and is now libertarian I thought I heard him say? We could pick someone else. I forgot his hair might get in the way…but, Tony Snow is just so wonderful, there’s not anyone that couldn’t like him. He is just a nice guy. We could leave him in for niceness purposes and put….well, ok, if you insist…it can be Dean then and Tony and Alysin as Speaker of the House. Is that b3tter? See…. I am amiable always!!! Yeppers I am…except once, and Chas told me I had to behave or I had to sit in my wheely chair with my back to the puter for three days!!!!!! Sheesh!!!! lol

Comment by chas

Ms. Lori, that’s the way they run things and if Y’all feel good with it it injures me not nor picks my pocket.

Which takes me to your other post. No political difference should interfere with a friendship. Not sure if you know it or not but the injures me not is a Jefferson phrase and he is a man who I wish I was much more like.

But he could disagree, but agree to do so. I would like to think that my years of readings would lend me to have such acceptance, even if I do call people like Obama socialist…lol

I am not so far off in such statements. But again, moves to the left seems to be where Dems are going, I would like to prevent it seeing what it has done to other Countries.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t be civil in the conversation.

Most respectfully,

Comment by Virginia

Elaine…you are back!!! I would agree with that. I am not however. Too old I guess, and pretty concrete about the way I feel despite my silliness from time to time…well, alright, allllll the time!!:):):) I am absolutely not and never will be a socialist/Marxist. This is not arguable. I think the people who bought a house and cannot pay for it is sad, but, hey, the car will be repossed if the loan is not paid..yes it will. Now, I also think we have a very uninformed public, and citizens don’t alway do all they can to stop the process. A phone call is very valuable. The bank doesn’t want the car or the house, they want a resolution to the prob and are usually more than willing to deal. It is amazing what people do, and I see it every day…could do a whole seminar on it by now. Responsibility……that’s it! I am sorry gas is almost 5 bucks…but, cereal is five bucks, and you get one fourteen ounce box. Gone in one sitting…gone! One gallon of gas will take me some thirty five miles…lots more for the punch, wouldn’t you say? Well yes…of course. We live in a capitalist society, free market please……..now. If you hit the “big” guy, it comes right on back atcha…yep! It does…it’s hard out there, but, it always has been, so what’s new??? Not a thing. I was thinking about the price of gas when I was twenty five, and I am still thinking about it…nothing has changed at all. yeppers…and the most amazing thing is.. there has always been exactly what was needed when it was needed, soooooo….I will be voting for McCain, because the republicans are a little more to my way of thinking and that hasn’t changed…got to be the party? yep..it is..toooooooooo sad!!!! lol

Comment by elaine

I know that your intentions were sincere.

Comment by chas

I’m not happy about the price of gas until it cost more than the Sam Adams I drink. ;)

chas

Comment by elaine

Ok, but the American dream is to own your own home, people from generations put their life savings into buying a home, then you create a budget for yourself, yes gas prices has always risen but not this drastic, it will hurt the economy, especially this summer when no one is traveling because of it, then there will be layoffs, so then what to those who actually paid good on their homes, they will have a hard time, just think about how many service industry cities there are in the U.S. that depend on tourism.

Can someone call Algoer and ask when this globla warming is going to kick in? I had a lap quilt on my lap today and the wife is wearing socks.

OK, even in the winter her shoes come off before her coat does. The minute the temp gets orver 70 the socks go.

So it’s way cold for this global warmed day and age.

I stopped proofing it took soooooo long!!!! Lori can read all about it tomorrow when she comes on for coffee maybe. I love coffee in this space…yes I do. This has been a long election cylce it feels like…every one is exhausted. Most of my friends are democrat and they are with Lori all the way, and I love them anyway. The are also smart and of quick wit, so it is just fine. I forgot to call the girls for the Merlot Elaine, so we are delayed another day….lol

Virginia, I should have it sent to you. LOL

Comment by chas

Part of the problem Ms. elaine is that people today have no concept of how to manage money. And sad as it is to say, even the older generation is falling into the spend more than I make trap.

I owe nothing but 1 last car payment. I don’t care if interest rates on my cards go to 90%, I pay mine ever month.

The teachers of the Depression have gone and failed or most have failed to learn the lesson of living within a budget and within your means.

chas

Comment by Virginia

Elaine..Americans are not going to stop driving their cars. Did I not see that Disney had another record year? My girlfriend just left on a cruise. I don’t know anyone who is not going south for the winter. No, things are not changed much. If you cannot afford a car, then you probably couldn’t anyway. The car is now, and always has been a luxury item. It is the only thing that we buy which has no value….none! It is upside down the minute you drive it off the lot, and stays that way practically until it is payed off at which time is not even close to what you payed for it…and all along the maintenance must be done. I am really tired of this argument…for real. Drill and we will have gas, and it won’t take twenty year either, like they would have you think. I don’t know. Pearl drinks high test, and I would like it if it was cheaper, so I like her, so maybe I will not do something else? Yes, I think that is the plan that was always implemented. Choices….yeppers..choices. I see it every day, every day. I thanked one member for paying my salary each week. Astonished? Overdraft fees…yep! But, he NEEDED this accout? For what??? I guess to pay my salalry…oh well, he would not listen so I guess I don’t care. lol

Comment by elaine

chas, but what if people were living within their means and circumstance like inflation happens? And large layoffs, and not hiring new help etc………….

Comment by elaine

It would be different if it was something that we could not control, but it is so frustrating that we have means right here at home to resolve this gas issue and we can’t do anything about it.

Comment by chas

Dang Ms. elaine, I thought the debate was over on that? I was waiting to toss out my hand made shirts, (by the most wonderful wife), in the trash because it was not going to be necessary.

The most wonderful wife makes all my shirts because I have a 6 sleeve and cannot find a off the hanger shirt that I can wear without rolling up the sleeves.

Summer I only wear a black pocket T.

I’m sort of back….took the boy to the store, he needed a couple of things, then hubby and I went for a long drive and brought back ice cream for the kids and boyfriend.
I made a cake before we left. The little store was out of icing so I had to come home and make some from scratch. i didn’t even use a recipe, wow did i shock everyone and myself.

As I am driving to town, I recalled an earlier post from today or perhaps even yesterday. Who was talking about someone stealing their vehicle out of the driveway? Was that Lori?

It’s dark outside now, hubby is in his comfy chair with his legs thrown over the arm, his laptop on…you guessed it..his lap.

Just made some coffee. Anyone care for a cup? \__/@

Comment by chas

Sorry Ms. elaine,

But if you control what you spend, most things are within your control. It’s not like I make a large amount of money. Heck I work for the DoD.

This is a free market and the price we pay is what the market will take. If you don’t buy it, the price will go down.

Please read Adam Smith, “The Wealth of Nations”.

Comment by Virginia

I missed one I guess…Elaine..what should you have sent to me. I hope it is Merlot or/and chocolate!!!!! Yum!!! We are such a funny group you know, but, all old enough to know a bit. I think the iron of today is that the kids have no intention of owning the home they buy like we did. Not at 300,000, nope. They are going to live in it, and then move “up” until it is time to ‘down size’. It is a different market, a different time…companies expect people to move every three years or so…people are moving from job to job..not staying with a company like the hubby for thirty years. So things are different…for sure. lol But, the kids are awesome and will be fine, just like we were. They are in tune most of them. lol

Virginia, you just thought of a new experiment, merot and chocolate milk, LOL, yuk again, LOL, but maybe a bit sweeter. LOL

Comment by Virginia

I think the media is creating some of the hype regarding the market and the economy, according to the numbers. Our employment rate is ok. We don’t count the ones that have gone off the dole, I realize, but, we don’t count the many that have started their own business either, so the numbers are always skewed somewhat. I think I am not an expert, but, if you spend all your money at Mcdonalds, because you don’t want to cook, then you may be broke….and not know why because it came out a buck or two at a time. I did do that excersice with a member at work, and after a month she came back in with a whole new understanding of what she REALLY spent that got away from her without notice. Chas and you are right about that…And we laugh as Gore’s pockets continue to bulge. See, no one was intersted in my new business either. I have a ticket for the pres and a new business, and no takers!!!!!!!!! lol

Comment by chas

The largest user of oil is us. They might take up the slack, but the price here will go down because of the home base companies can pass the cost on to the others.

I’m sorry if I am sounding a bit mean, but I do mean you should really read Adam Smith. It is DULL, but it is the foundation on which our economy and most of the worlds is based on.

And that was written back in the mid 1700’s.

For a family it is most definately more economical to eat at home, but those without will find it cheaper to eat out, because when you buy at a grocery store for one the food usually goes bad before you have a chance to eat it.

We’re all a sight here, hubby in his comfy chair with his computer on his lap, sipping his coffee that I just finished brewing…eating the cake I just made for daughter’s boyfriend’s birthday. chas, I don’t feel that you are being mean, I have this hunger to learn all I can about this, maybe it’s because I am scared of what the effects may be for the economy, I live in a service industry city which relies havily on tourism, and if nobody visits here due to high gas cost, we are going to feel it big. I took note of the book, I’ll head to the book store this week to pick it up.

Except for gas, which effects other cost, the economy isn’t that different than when Clinton left office, (except I was taxed more then). However then they slammed Bush for using the R word.

Now, even with the evidence showing that it isn’t yet, (first qtr a small increase) it is very alright to say the R word.

It is the media and which party is in office.

I know Ms. Lori will disagree with me, but facts are stubborn things.

That is not exactly true. One must be more creative, that’s all. A matter of choices again. But, that said, like everything else, one fits in the budget exactly what one wants. I do not want to eat out at lunch every day…well, actually any day, but for sure not at work at all…please, I want a break from work, I don’t want to play at work while at lunch. So, that is a choice I make, and I will take that twenty five or so and put it some where else…choices…my aunt lived alone and worked every day. On Sunday she cooked and froze different dinner items and froze these foods. She did a little of both, in other words. A fast trip to get coffee is also a choice, or you can make a pot…choice. If you come with a cupa from one of the coffee shops, don’t tell me you need to borrow a fiver. I think you had a fiver and spent it on coffee…yep..I do…lol

You might want to try the library Ms. elaine, the book is over 200 years old…lol

It took me 3 weeks to get a copy from the MD library system.

Ms. Virginia, again that goes to the spending thing. I toss almost nothing in the way of food. I try and buy only what I need and will eat in a certain amount of time.

True it is only the most wonderful wife and I but I still think that it can be done. I did it when I had a non-working wife and 2 kids with a low paying job, (ok, it was 2 low paying jobs). Kids need a Mom at home. I know most you know what you give up to make it better for them.

OK, enough of the soapbox thing. I am glad I have not offended Ms. elaine, it would hurt me as much if not more than it would you.

Elaine…do you have a micro wave? If you do it will thaw. Meat and things will thaw if taken out of the freezer in a timely fashion. Much of the foods today that are fast frozen may be cooked in that condition. Otherwise, it is a matter of timing, of course. If the roast is frozen, one needs to set it in the fridge the nite before and then take it out in the morning. If it is really hot outside, a little care must be taken, however, it is just a little monitoring involved. They also make thawing trays that are very nice and not expensive. I have one and use it a lot. They make freezer bags for food to go in the freezer. Fresh produce, must be purchased more often of course, but, they have the green bags now, and the fresh veges and fruits do stay ok much longer if stored correctly. lol

I thank you Ms. Virginia, but truly I am not really all that.

I’m just a HS grad, nothing more. No special insight, no special knowledge, very little special at all.

I just attempt to be objective, within my understanding of the Constitution, and my reading of the debates and writings of Madison and Jefferson.

My opinion carries no more weight than any other.

ps, Besides, if you keep talking like that I will have to buy a new Western hat in a larger size when I go to Nashville in Aug…lol

I read some of the food advise earlier
I drive my wife crazy….I make out a weekly menu and a grocery list (in order of the aisles at the store) …I have master forms on the computer…so it makes it easy…also saves on going to the store so often

Good morning every one~~~~ah! we are back in business it would seem! I was ALARMED until I scooted over and saw that wordpress had crashed on greta also. :) It was time for bed anyway, and I knew the moment was over and doggies needed to be walked and the soul needed to get a little rest and renewing, but it is just awful not to be able to say good nite and sweet dreams! lol

Jimmy…that is just too brilliant for shopping. Of course, it saves a ton of money as one stays way more focused and is not buying another something or the other that is already on the shelf…and has been but one forgot! Now, what do you do when they change everything around, which they do frequently!!! lol

Comment by chas

Wow, Mr. Adams, looks like some nasty weather in your area today.

the store managers don’t like us…cause we try not to but impulse/sale items unless on the list

Comment by Virginia

Thanks Chas…and a good morning to you. :) I am still waiting to see if I get a “bucket” of cleaning items for Mother’s Day? They surely wouldn’t DARE? Oh, well, they are a pretty funny group and they may have decided that would be just too funny! lol

I think I am the only woman on the planet that hates to shop. LOL What is even stranger is clothing use to be my bread and butter, guess I got burnt out!

re: slow computer

This blog will most likely stay slow since it is trying to refresh 650 responses.

It would be faster I suspect to use the Party blog which has only a few responses.

We are having tornado warning just to our north about 40 miles.

Virginia….the store move things deliberately…honestly…. and what they want you to buy is always at eye level

Comment by Virginia

Good morning Lori. Happy Mother’s day. They aren’t bringing you a “bucket” I hope? :)
The store definitely doesn’t appreciate the more focused shopper. :) I did go in one time for milk and bread and as there were no carts, that’s exactly what I went out with. I did tell the manager thanks, as he had saved me a few dollars. He was not amused, however, I thought it was pretty funny myself! :)

Ms. Lori,

It’s not a favorite of my wife either, but she does it because it needs to be done.

LOL no no bucket but kind of the same thing. I left my house keeper in Texas so for M day I requested a new one.. LOL So in a way I’m getting a bucket, when the girls came in last night they had some Williams and Sanoma (sp) bags which I love, cooking is a hobby of mine…! LOL

Comment by Virginia

Oh Jimmy… I am aware of that. My sis does this kind of work and I have helped many a time do just that. I am a little more aware of grocery tricks due to that exposure. I did alarm her boss one time with a mention of workmen’s comp and whether I could collect after being on my knees for hours! I was just kidding, but, he didn’t know me and was definitely very, well, ALARMED? I soothed his furrowed brow with many funny stories from the land of the yankee, so he did realize I was off for the week or an escapee) from the psych ward, so there was really nothing to worry about! :)

Alisyn…Happy Mother’s Day.

ALI-bloggers: Happy Mother’s day if it applies to you. :)

The Fox site was not nice to me at all last night, I came back as promised and it wouldn’t let me post so I finally gave up and played some cards on-line. I did enjoy reading everything though. Sounds like you had interesting conversation as always.

I’ve somewhat enjoyed my mother’s day. We have high drama teenagers here, trying to grow up too fast and thinking they don’t really need a mom anymore. So mom’s day tends to be a tad bit depressing for me…so to be honest, I’m quite sappy right now.
It was nice when visiting my mom and the mom-in-law, but when at home….well…
Hubby has been the nicest to me today and I feel so very blessed by that effort. He’s done all the dishes, ran the dishwasher, unloaded the dishwasher, took me out for supper and is now making me coffee. He does appreciate what I try to accomplish as a mom…and for that I feel grateful.

So I had to post see, because the post number was at 666 and we simply can’t have that !!!! LOL

Looks like everyone has been enjoying their Sunday with the family…that’s a good thing.

Happy Mothers Day Alisyn! Happy Mothers Day to all! I thought there for a minute that I got banned! Last night I got cut off and couldn’t get on to post, thanks Virginia for the thawing tip and chas, no I am not mad or offended in any way, I love talking to people who speak there mind, that shows honesty and you stand for your beliefs.

Hello Sheila!
