That was very nice and made me very hungry for some meat balls!

Ya know, I have always heard that a good chef always taste the food while they prepare it and that is great. But, I didn’t know they licked the spoon they were working with and stuck it back in the pot. 8O

ali good atss you looked realy great and like you were really enjoying the pasta i must say i make a great pasta gravy myself and its always fun to have your family around to enjoy it with you i will definitely try mamas recipe for meatballs

have a wonderful weekend and happy mothers day to you

Comment by Virginia

Marshall honey….just don’t think about it. All good things coming from the kitchen have been tasted and poked with a finger, and stirred with a wooden spoon, no doubt, and sliced and diced on the wooden cutting board, and set aside for hours until time to add to said dish, probably on the counter top that the cat possibly has explored whilst one slumbered? all the while wiping everything off with that darn spong!!! Yikes!!!!!! You may never eat again. Them thar meat balls were rolled, you know, with “hands” possibley having been wiping off the baby five minutes ago, and/or, every kid in sight “gets” to enter in the fun of rolling the needed meat balls. You definitely need to chill..not to worry. Here I am, having survived it all. Yep! No fear, I say…..lol

Hello Pat….:)

Comment by Virginia

Where is Chas…he sent me over here, as I was waxing into the oblivion that often is present when the gods and ghosts are lurking around and F5 and double click are not working! lol

Comment by Virginia

Happy Mother’s Day Alysin and a wonderful weekend of rest while that family sees to you for a change!!!!! lol

Comment by chas

I always have a piece of bread around to dunk it in the gravy. It gives me a better feel for how it will taste on the pasta.

chas

Comment by Virginia

Well yes Chas…an important addition to every meal. The bread is the pusher, the scooper upper of anything left on the plate, and good for the left over of said gravy or anything good on the stove. Yes….bread, the staff of life for all those reasons and more! lol

Comment by chas

Actually I was still hanging out at the open blog…lol

Make up your mind. ;)

Comment by Virginia

Chas…I see that. My skills are getting a work out scurrying from one spot to the other!!! Geeezzzz! Would you guys pick a spot and stay put!!!! :):):) It’s like shopping with my girlfriend, who just wonders off with no notice! I used to stand in the middle of the store and shout her name. Thankfully that most embarrassing event…you would have thought she would have knocked it off after the fifteenth time it happened…..cell phones came into our life, so she is never further away than a phone call. :) My other girlfriend went shopping with the missing one, lost her in the store, and went out to the car to wait for her, forgetting about her cell phone altogether which was off and tucked safely in her purse, and doing no one any good, as disappearing friend had called her multiple times, no doubt fearing she had been kidnapped by white slavers and was at that moment being put in the hold of the pirate ship, with the very, very, very, handsome Tobias rushing to her rescue…oh my……..it’s the hot water and the piggies. I lost my head again!!!! Geezzzzzzzzzzzz!! lol

Good afternoon Virginia and chas

i was over at the open blog reading everyones comments. Alis blog has really taken off. I
am really happy for her. i dont feel she gets the recognition she should.

chas your recipe for the meat roll sounds delicious and i will definitely try it and let you know how i like it. i try lots of new recipes and am always open to new tastes. one of my favorites as mentioned on the other blog is peanut butter and bacon sandwiches which i absolutely love. I was actually surprised to see how many people like it also I guess when you dont venture out into that great big world you dont see a lot of opinions

virginia your posts are always delightful to read and full of wit and humor i notice a few others on today that are very interesting also and poor will seems to be having not such a great day in fact he sounded kind of cranky maybe some time in his hammock away from all this madness will make him feel better

Comment by Virginia

Hi Pat…I scurry from site to site searching for the group. I think you are right about Will…I am so jealous, still! Sounds sooooo nice for sure. My pedicure is complete and I can now view the piggies without disdain, as can everyone else, which could be why she gave me the pedicure to begin with???? Now, about the nails and hair!!!!!!! After four weeks in the wheely chair, some attention is also needed in those areas for sure…….lol

Comment by Virginia

Oh Chaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssss!! Where are you??????? lol

Comment by Lori

Good afternoon bloggers:

Alyson did look as though she was enjoying her breakfast! Gretchen on the other hand wasn’t feeling the love I don’t think..LOL

We should suggest Fox open a chat area. It sure would be a lot easier than trying to carry on conversations in a blog. This forum makes people trying to converse look like rambling idiots, because of the delay and lost threads! LOL I guess it isn’t meant to be conducive to chats. Oh well!

Comment by Virginia

I must go in search of the missing Chas…be right back..lol

Comment by Virginia

I am back in the land of F5. Chas is over on open Friday spot..but, I am still fussing with the puter gods and ghosts….:( I will scurry back and see if it is better in the other spot. lol

Comment by chas

OK, now I am here because of no post be added to the friday open blog.

I typed the same thing over 5 times and still don’t see it.

Hi Pat.

chas

Comment by Lori

Im having difficulty posting too. This type of forum makes one look like a looney toon! LOL Answering voices that aren’t there, or repeating oneself 15 times..LOL I prefer monitored chat areas. I guess this isn’t meant for “chatting”.

Comment by Virginia

Chas….whew!!! I am here and you are right. Was it about this same time yesterday when things were a little funny re: things posting…I had just gotten back from doctors, and grandpa and the baby girl had just left for his…yes, I think so. Hummm…lol

Comment by Virginia

Hi Lori….yes, I think it is something they are doing at this moment…or, Dog said something about a “band” of something being too big…I would have to look back and see what she said..but, I don’t want to go backwards again, so I think I’ll just stay right here! lol

Comment by Lori

Yes, bandwidth I think he said. We should Fox open a monitored chat room for the election season. LOL That would be a lot easier!

Comment by Virginia

Lori…yes it is, and usually works just fine. Actually, this is a new program. It used to be comment….wait, go to the store, clean the bathroom, have your hair done…and maybe your comment would show. We were thrilled when it changed, so take heart. I went back and read…27 yrs marriage, not age! Geezz!!!! And a trip to China. I am so excited for you and your family. And at such a historical moment. This is just too nice. We will all be waiting anxiously to hear all about it. lol

Comment by Virginia

Lori….have you checked out Dogs site yet? I think you would enjoy it…from your comments, you are smart and a quick wit. Yep, I betcha you would have a good time over there as well. I have looked, but, not commented yet…I will, however. It should be fun also. lol

Comment by Lori

Thanks Virginia,

I am not sure how many of us are going to go. It’s a busy time of year for us, so we will have to see. His business associates have been asking us for years to be their guests, and I keep declining, I am sure I’ve insulted them, but whatcha gonna do? To be honest I’m not that interested in going.

i think one of the most relaxing things is a pedicure it just seems so decadent to sit there and have your tootsies taken care of the whirlpool, the massage, ahhhhhhhhhhhh it is heavenly

you should try it chas it really is quite relaxing i went to your wifes site on the quilting tell her God bless her for what she is doing I will put in my two cents in one way or another to try and help out she is doing a wonderful thing and must be a special lady

my son was a career man in the air force and i remember when he was over in kuwait in the firs gulf war and he was hurt (not battle related) you feel so helpless and its wonderful to know there are people like your wife looking out for our fine young people

i like this type of forum rather than chatting because it is well monitored in chat rooms it can get really rough

Comment by Lori

I have read some of his site. There is a whole lotta passion there, I will say that! LOL

Comment by Virginia

Oh, how impatient we have become. Remember when you had to wait for the weekend to call grandma and grandpa, and then after ten or so, and only could talk for a second? Then you rushed to your room, pen and paper in hand to write a letter with everything else you wanted to tell them? Now, we expect instant messaging and are just so sad :(:( when it fails. Yes…we are just not to be pleased at all. :)

Lori

are you concerned with all the unrest over there when your husband and if your kids would be going

my youngest son works for a company that makes military radios and goes to a lot of places that i make myself crazy over like republic of georgia and columbia but he tells me he deals mostly with the military and has never had a problem i thought once he got out of the air force i wouldnt be worrying as much but you know how this mom thing is they are your babies for ever and thank goodness he tolerates my worrying

Comment by chas

I am thinking that once the post get over 200 it begins to interfere with posting furthe.

I suppose there is a size limit as far as bytes go that cause the trouble. I wish I could talk about this to someone there. Guess that will have until Monday and I can ask Ms. Alisyn.

Pat, the meat roll sounds a bit odd but it really is good and even kids like it even though it has spinich in it. BTW you can change the spinich for brocolli or califlower or anything else you can mash so it doesn’t poke holes in the meat when you roll it.

Hi Ms. Lori.

chas

Comment by Virginia

Lori…that is exactly why I thought you would enjoy it. lol Dog is a woman, I believe and there are several people contributing to the site. That’s probably why I enjoyed it. :)

Comment by Virginia

Pat…that and a really good bit of fluff and we are in heaven indeed. I ended up watching Burn Notice last nite, in the spare room…but, am still sending someone after the book you suggested. lol

Comment by chas

I’m getting sloppy, Pat instead of Ms. Pat. Sorry, I did not mean to become so casual without permission.

My wife, Eileen, thanks you for your comments and says “you can always be a postal partner.”

She makes $11 an hour on her part time job, but spends $25 to have the final quilting done by a professional, and that’s the postage. The long arm quilter does the work pro bono.

Anyone can help with this one way or another.

Oh and yes she is a special person, she has to be to put up with me. ;) I can be a handful.

chas

Comment by Virginia

If that is correct Chas, then Alysin will have her work cut out for her, just about the time she thought she could relax a bit. Maybe that is what happened to Greta Wire~~~~oooooo~~~ scary place it has become, and probably due to the site growing so fast. We are not keeping a very good secret here. lol

Wait…WHAT? Dog is a girl?

I guess I should have read more…lol

Any trip outside the US would have to be filled with a little trepidation, these days, I would think, however, this is a pretty historical event, and I might decide I could handle a little in this one instance. I encourage you to think about it Lori. Although, apparently showing up for class is just as dangerous??? Is Stanford (was it ) still on lock down from this mornings shooting? The baby girl has left, so I could turn FOX on now…and find out. lol

dog id not a girl is he????? i think his profile said he is a 28 year old male from west virginia if i am not mistaken, which i well could be

Comment by chas

Pedicures aren’t a guy thing, at least this guy.

I was telling Ms. Virginia that either Jewel or Kelly Pickler said they couldn’t stand getting a pedicure because it tickled too much.

I’m not ticklish myself, but really don’t think I’d enjoy someone doing things to my feet. That said the wife loves it when I take care of hers.

So I think it’s more of a ladies thing. ;)

and your little or big pink toes would look so cute in flip flops LOL

Comment by chas

Pat it is then. It’s just the way I was raised. In fact the last time i saw my old neighbors I was still calling them Mr and Mrs. But until I have permission I try and stick to the non-casual and respectful.

BTW, I’m no spring chicken myself. I can retire from Federal Service with 30 years next March.

Perhaps you noticed when I was talking to Ms. Lori earlier I’ve been picking Presidential races since LBJ.

That might give you an idea of how old I am…lol

i understnd the respect thing. i think its or generation. i worked for an internist for 25 years until my retirement six years ago and most are patients were geriatrics. they would tell me to call them by their given names but i could never do that and i would tell them i couldnt because i wasnt raised that way and they would constantly tell me to but i just couldnt

i did see that but i am not good at that age thing i will be 72 next month but still kicking

Bless you Ma’am, 72 God love ya. I am 55 and feel like I’m going on 90 since being sick last year. But I am certain it is just taking longer because I am not as young as I use to be.

I think it is great how us people of older generations have taken to this new fun tech stuff.

But it is about respect. My Grandfather mostly raised me and would be just over 102 were he still alive. I can’t be any other way that would lend disrespect to his memory.

One day when I get it I’ll give you the link to Eileen’s pictures of the quilts she’s been making. You would like them I am sure.

Pat,

you are right they are my “babies”, and it could be dangerous. It has been one of my personal “goals” to not allow fear to rule my life. Id have them all in a padded room forever if I could! But that wouldn’t be much of a life would it? LOL So I just to stay focused on the here and now and have faith;-) MOST of the time..LOL

I have had to learn, as Toby Keith sang, “I’m not as good as I once was”. My new theme song BTW…lol

My fuse gets short at certain things. I almost got into a bar fight a couple of years ago when a guy and his girl started to argue. He talked like he was going to slap her.

I told Eileen if I got up she had better leave the room. Won’t take a man hitting a lady. Unless I hit him with a chair I think he would have hurt me…lol But I would sit and ignore that.

i know the feeling i am so glad they are all grown and raised because we sure do live in a scarey world nowadays i worry more about my grandchildren than i ever did my own children

when mine were young you could let them go out during the day and play and not worry someone might run off with them of course 24 hour news coverage adds to these fears we
were not as aware of things as we are today

but my children tolerate my musings and even like me isnt that wonderful

Comment by chas

Hi Ms. Lori,

So happy you have returned.

Fox had that vid on a couple of days ago. It is, for lack of a better phrase, cute.

Eileen made my kids a Picture Quilt a couple of years ago. I took pictures of them and me when they were young and printed them on special cloth treated so it wouldn’t run,

They both loved it.

Both of my girls are women now one almost 24 the other just turned 18.

Comment by Lori

Pat, LOL Yes that’s lovely!

When cable first came to my Mom’s town, she was a huge news watcher, and for the first year she would call me daily to warn me about the latest scary thing out there just waiting to injure my children. LOL

Finally I said to her “Mom, you have got to either turn off CNN, or you will bankrupt yourself with these long distance calls!” She got the hint..;-)

I don’t think I read the profile…I meant to go back and do that, however, one thing and another, I just did not. Just an impression, and prob not correct. Were is Sheila? moms never stop being moms i have learned after many years to sometimes just sit and stew rather than drive them crazy with my worries it definitely is a different world i would never allow my kids to do most of the things my kids let my grandchildren do but i know i made mistakes along the way and my advice to them is “do the best youcasn with them and hope the good things get remembered” and so far thank God they are all good human beings no major problems

Chas the quilt sounds wonderful and my goodness i have grandchildren older than your children now i am really feeling old :)

Ms. Lori,

All help is accepted gladly. I think that if more people knew about this more would be willing to help.

Eileen was sent a letter from one of the guys, via the nurse contact that would bring tears to you eyes for the quilt he received.

You wouldn’t think big tough fighting men could be so touched by such a simple act, but to a man they are.

I wish I could get FOX to highlight this cause. Even though my wife is only one person and not a spokesperson for the org, she talks with a real passion for this.

Okay…you have all gone to the new blog!
What abouyt Obama’s comments on McCain’s age…the commercial with his 90+ years mother should put a stop to that…she was sharp and witty…what do you think?

Comment by chas

Actually I’m not a Republican, I’m a republican.

I know you think I’m nuts and that’s ok. But that is what Jefferson consider his ideal of Government.

Small, controllable and subject to change, as long as it was slow and considered.

So I guess I am really a Constitutional Conservative or a Jefferson republican. He never used upper case with republican.

BTW, it is a myth that Jefferson was a liberal. He was a radical thinker with conservative values. He did not believe in parties, judges making laws and believed that the Constitution was made for change, but only after slow and thoughtful talks. He thought that the French moved way too fast and turns out he was correct as it gave them Nappy.

OOOpps, sorry got into that history thing again.

good evening

the commercial with mc cains mother is great she is amazing for the age of what is it 96 i hold nothing what obama has to say he lies like all the rest no one can sit in a church for 20 something years (if he did attend) and not know how the man felt that will be a big problem i think that will dog him until the election

chas

i personaly (sp) like learning things and especially from well informed people I was not a good history student and have learned a lot in the last few years as my grandson just graduated from college with a history major and he is passionate about it so we have had some discussions

Mr. Adams is also a history guy, with a better education than I have to be sure.
