My husband has been through 20 physical therapy sessions and 2 cortisone shots in the back between vertebrae for sciatica pain, and it has not helped. We would like to know more about the name of the doctor and the procedure using non-medicated needles injected into the muscles. Is that the same as accupuncture? You had to go through the information so fast, we didn’t get all of the information. You mentioned that if we contacted you, you would get us in touch with someone. Please do. We could really use some good news because my husband is not up to having surgery as he has other serious health problems. Thank you so much.

I have been sufferig w/horrible back pain for 18 months. Diagnosed with 3 herniated lumbar discs and right hip partial displacement. After going through months and months of treatments such as cortisone injections in the lumbar area(s), hip joint and bursa and lots of medications, I am basically no better. Seven different doctors couldn’t even agree on what to do to alleviate the pain. I wear a fentanyl patch daily, was on neurontin (lots of it) to the point I had to take sick leave from my job as I couldn’t function. As everyone knows, it literally takes over your life. I would desperately like to find out how to get in touch with this doctor. What a relief this procedure would be.

I am a Service Disabled Vet and have had 13 back operations, and am still in pain 24/7. I want to thank you for your report. Could you please send me more information on the Doctor, I have tried everything to get help with my pain, to include a morphine pump inplant. The inplant failed and almost killed me in the process. Hi Alisyn ~ First of all let me tell you how much I love watching fox and Friends as my reenager gets off to school in the mornings. Next, let me tell how much this whole back pain segment drives me crazy. I think it would be great if you did a segment on the REAL cure for back pain, and that is through the mindbody connection, as described in detail in one of Dr. John Sarno’s books. His method involves absolutely no medical procedures except a willingness to put back together a mind-body connection that Western medical practices (due mostly to making moolah instead of actually helping patients) has taken apart. I have not only been given a “break” from my chronic back pain, but my migraines and IBS are both gone. No surgery required. Please look into Dr. Sarno for your veiwing audience. hello, I would like to comment on back pain. I got hurt on the job in 2003, I saw two back specialist and was told to get the shots, i got two shots in my spine and they did not work, after the second one i couldn’t walk for four days. then my orthopeadic surgeon said i need spinal fusion surgery. the first one failed it left me worse than i was in the beginning, so, he said he needed to do another surgery, and, during that surgery he fractured a pedicle in my spine and didn’t tell me for a whole year. I was sent for a mylogram and, that’s when they discovered the fracture, and, every time i questioned him about it he would get upset and move on to another subject, but, the whole time he kept telling me i had blood on my spine. then after the fracture discovery he told me he didn’t know why i was in so much pain and he couldn’t help me. I found another orthopedic surgeon near my home, he saw the mylogram report and said i needed surgery to fix the fracture, so, I had the surgery in sept. of 2007, and to this day, and, For the last five years I can’t walk without a walker and back brace. I haven’t worked for five years and my life has been going down the tubes, I’m young and don’t want to live the rest of my life like this. can someone help me maybe that doctor you were talking about.

I want info. about the doctor making news with his alternatives for back pain relief. My mother has been suffering for years and needs his help.

Re: Dr. Norman Marcus and back pain help. I have been in severe lower back pain since last fall. Epidural steroid injections did nothing and I don’t want to do the next things the pain managemet doc suggests. Does Dr. Marcus only practice in New York? I am 74, single and can’t afford to fly to New York. In fact, I have most pain while sitting so I don’t even know how I would do that.

I just viewed your story on back pain. The basis of this treatment is nothing new for chiropractors. We have been treating this same cause of back pain by working on the trigger points in the muscles, as well as, the spinal alignment and function for over 100 years. Injections are not always needed to rid a person of this condition, but i will admit that they work faster then the traditional treatments employed by chiropractic physicians.

That segment on “Back Pain” was great. Unfortunately I didn’t catch all of the contact info for the Dr., or how I can find out more about him. My wife has suffered from back pain for 12+ years and has had a series of 4 surgeries, the last of which was late last year. She still spends most days in bed. I believe that a lot of back pain comes from the muscles. I had to have emergency neck surgery in 2000 – I was hardly able to walk, the doc said he did not know how I was able to move from my neck down. They fused my spine in one spot. When I woke up the pain was gone. I also have a bad spot on my lower back and if I do not keep my muscles streched I will have severe back pain. So I believe that both are needed at times.

I have a question for Alisyn…where can I get in touch with Dr. Norman Marcus? I have had a laminectomy on my back to stop pain in my sciataca. However, following 15 years of no problems in December the pain returned and I made an appointment to find out what was going on. My back surgeon was there and he diagnosed two compressed fractures of T7 and T9. After almost 6 weeks in rehab, I came home Jan 25. Last week my back “pain” returned only this time it was more into my lungs. Now I am on prednisone and a muscle relaxant.

I need to talk to Dr. Marcus asap before I do something rash. And, Alisyn, it took me quite a while to find where to ask you this question.

Please give me this information on how to contact this doctor. I have major back pain and will not get the injections or the surgery. I have seen several friends and family member who had surgery and still suffer on occasions. My pain is in my lower back and i have trouble turn and also walking .

I retired from the US Army after 26 years of service. I do not, in any way , putting all the blame for my lower back pains, but I am pretty sure that the gruesome physical fitness training can somehow be affiliated with it. I have been diagnozed as having a degenerative disease in my lower back. Everytime I went to see the doctors, they would prescribed several exercises and maybe some pain killers or relaxers to go with it. To make this story short, I would just like to say that after following those recommended exercises, the pain will just find its way back into my body and it is just excruciating pain at times.
My question is this..I know the good doctor resides in New York, but can a similar treatment be available here in Northern California? Is there any treatment of the sort available here in Northrn California?

I need some information about the Marcus Pain Clinic. I have been suffering from chronic, severe back pain for nearly 15 years. Steroidal injections no longer quell the pain and I am now looking for alternative treatments. I have altrerady had two surgeries. My current back pain is left over from the last surgery. I have been talking to neurosurgeons with the thought of possibly having a third surgery. Not a happy prospect. I am now 75 years old and the doctors give me only 65 / 35 odds at success. Before I travel to NYC, I would appreciate some first hand recommendations from patients or someone familiar with the Marcus Clinic with whom I could speak. MRI’s and recent reports available. My pain is bordering on the exquisite and I need help. Is there some way the Marcus Clinic can review my case and render an opinion.

Can you please provide me with the information and number or web site for Dr. Marcus. I have lived with pain for 5 years now after my car was totaled. I’ve have had many injections in the back vertabrae area, but not the muscles. At times I can barely make it out of bed. My job as a nurse demands physical strength. allyson, I am interested in obtaining more info of Dr Norman Marcus and his treatment for back pain. I have had chronic back pain for yrs that has progressively gotten worse. I have had numerous steroid inj which don’t seem to help. I’m sure he cannot accommidate all the people who have emailed you but perhaps there is someone closer to my area(LA) that may use the same technique.

I’d like information concerning the back pain treatment.

My wife, 73 years of age, has had extreme, constant lower back pain for years, and is now unable to stand for any length of time, and unable to stand really upright.

She has been fearful of surgery, and the normal bending and cracking of the Chiropractic doctor.

As it would seem to be impossible for one clinic in New York to handle all the inquiries and patients that need this type of help, has this treatment method been shared with other physicians throughout the country, or does one have to go to New York to receive benefit of this treatment?

We live in Portland, Oregon, and would appreciate knowing of any such clinic in our area.

I want to show the video ot your interview with Dr. Marcus to my friends but I can’t find it in my Microsoft Internet Explorer history or by searching Fox News archives. Please give the URL for the video.

After countless types of shots everywhere in my back and SI joint, followed by a great back surgery (L5-S1) that lasted 2 months, and a 2nd surgery to fix the 1st (fixed about 90% of the pain), I now just take long acting morphine sufate (easiest med on the system) and immediate release Morphine for breathrough pain, along with Neurontin or Lyrica and Valium. I limit some activities, so as not to concentrate on the pain as for years it was my life and I could only sit for 20 minutes- which is hard in my occupation. Now, I rarely think about the pain= but I am chained to the pain doctor and pharmacy every month……which sucks……and I’m married to a doctor. PS- After about 3 weeks on narcotics, you can’t get high, IF you are a pain patient,from them- so can the responses. Pills are safer than a major surgery implanting a morphine pump. Taking narcs is not fun, it a chore and I face judgemental people all the time who don’t care that I almost died during 1/2 the procedures I had to fix the problems. I wish I knew Anna Nicole Smiths doctor, but I digress
