Should Hillary Drop Out?

If you watched the 6am show today, you know some senior Democratic politicians are calling on Hillary to drop out of the race.   They say it would bring the party together, stop the bruising battle.  But is that premature?  She still has a double-digit lead in Pennsylvania — voters don’t go to polls there until April 22nd.  Don’t voters in Indiana and North Carolina count?  Your thoughts?

I am personally a Republican but I see the urging of Hillary to pull out as very premature from a realistic standpoint. It could only mean one thing, many Democrats in high ranking places do not care for her (to say the least)!!

Have a great day, Love the show!!

Good Morning Ms. Alisyn,

I want to see Hillary stay in so I can continue to watch the Dems eat their young. Isn’t it funny that the party that so “honors” one person, one vote, doesn’t want to wait until the votes are cast?

Not to mention that they are still going to look bad no matter what they do with Fls and MI. If they allow them to sit, they look as if they can’t control or enforce their own rules. If they don’t sit them they discount two important states come the general election.

In what should be the easiest election in years for the Dems, they have managed to drop the ball and make it so much closer than it should be.

Hope you had a nice weekend, Ms. Alisyn.

No she should not stop her campaign. In the last election when votes were too close to call, the Democratic Party insisted that “every vote be counted”. What changed?

Comment by DogOnCrack

Hillary will easily win both Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
She still has a chance of winning the nomination.
I wouldn’t count her out just yet.
It’s foolish to underestimate the Clintons.

Comment by Pat in Minnesota

Good Morning Alisyn,

I think she should drop out. Obama clearly has the momentum now and Hillary staying in the race will only hurt the Democratic party. We don’t need any more division in this country, especially amongst same party members. Unfortunately, I don’t think she will.

Alisyn,
Another quick comment…. I wish some conservative would speak up as Hillary trashes Bush’s current state of economics in our Country!! I wish someone would come out and comment, “Where does she get off spouting off about the state of our economy when she can’t even run her campaign and pay her bills for it!!!! She can’t even run a campaign and pay the bills… Not much of an example to be in charge of a whole Country’s ecomony!!!!!!!!

Comment by Salvatore

Alisyn, whats the rush, lets wait and see what happens, Clinton will win the popular vote, and if the votes from Florida and Michigan were to count she would have the lead right now, the Democratic party dont want to deal with the Florida and Michigan voters, so to make it easy, Clinton should drop out, I think not, I think Clinton can still pull this off, with Obama and pastors comments still in everyones minds.

Honestly, if Billary drops out, does anyone really think it makes a difference? She and Obama are alomst mirror images from a policy perspective. Obama is just another flavor of the week and will not get past McCain. Bring either one on………………

Comment by Gus

Happy Monday:

Let her go all they way. It will wind up being resolved at the convention. Besides, you couldn’t create a better drama movie than this!

I think McCain is going to be able to come away from this with a commercial that says, “With all the indecision and infighting amongst the Democrats, do you really want someone like this running the country?”

Cheers,

Hillary should stay in. I love a good cat fight and the democrats are providing it. They are doing to each other what they have been doing to President Bush for 8 years and we get to watch as they implode.

She should stay in. PA and other states’ voters need to get a chance to vote. Besides, I am a Republican and Hillary staying in and taking it to the convention probably will hurt the Dems.

Good morning, Ali!
Personally speaking, I don’t care for Billary Clinton…oops! I mean Hillary Clinton! But I think that we’ve only BEGUN to unearth the skeletons in Senator Obama’s closet. I think that Hillary should continue until the Democrat Convention. This will serve several purposes:
1. If Hil continues to pursue the nomination, she will not be able to make any future charges about being forced out of the race, the voters had their Constitutional right to vote taken away, etc., etc.
2. It will continue to fracture the Democrat Party.
3. The voters will get a choice ~ after all, isn’t that what our process is all about…giving the American voters a choice to have our voice heard as to who OUR choice will be….not the super delegate’s choice? I didn’t vote for super delegates to make my choice for me (even though I’m not a Democrat, I believe my point is valid).

Personally, one of the things that troubles me greatly is how quickly the Rev. Wright controversy has faded. This guy is anti-American, a hate mongerer and has had tremendous influence over his congregation for YEARS!!! And for the Sen. from IL to say he didn’t hear any of that for 20 years is ludicrous. Either he didn’t attend church all those years, or he fell asleep…which I don’t understand how he could have because the decibel level of the Rev.’s rants could wake the dead. I heard Senator Obama’s speech, and I was seriously listening to see what he would say that was of substance. My conclusion is that he tried to make white Americans feel guilty that we have contributed to racism, and a few days later when he referred to “typical white Americans” (comparing us all to his grandmother who didn’t walk on the same side of the street as black men) I was outraged!!! Apparently he doesn’t recall the “typical white Americans” who stood shoulder to shoulder with Dr. Martin Luther King during the civil rights marches back in the day, and Sen. Obama apparently missed the headlines when “typical white Americans” were murdered in in the Deep South when they left their comfortable Northeast lives to help during the civil rights unrest back in the 60’s. To characterize “typical white Americans” as racist is an insult. Can you imagine the outrage if Sen. McCain had made a statement about “typical African Americans”? Obama’s statement was made SOLELY as an attempt to take the heat off him and point the finger of blame at us. He forgets that when one points a finger at others, there are three fingers pointing back at self. I could go on and on and on, but I think I’ll cut this short and go get another cup of coffee.

Thanks Ali, for giving us an opportunity to make our voices heard on your blog. You’re the best!

CJ

No Hillary should stay in and fight for every vote. The more the Democrats fight among them-selves the better. My heart goes out to Hillary every time I see her on Fox News. The poor woman has lost all her friends and supporters and the ones she can depend on are probably planning to vote for Obama. Hillary and Bill made many enemies on their way up and with luck they will meet them all on their way back down.

So hang in there Hillary, fight for that Nomination make Obama and those super delegates fight for the nomination on the floor of the convention. You have worked for this nomination for years and put up with Bill Clinton and his bimbos you deserve to be rewarded for your sacrifices.

I am a Pa. native (Wilkes-Barre). I do not think Ms. Clinton should drop out until she chooses to.
The National Democratic Party with its obsession with race and gender politics have created this monster so let Dr. Dean and his followers come up with a solution to neither candidate having enough delegates to win before the super delagates choose.

I would like to know why you folks at foxnews have such a good time telling all you think about dems. and reporting little news. If your a news channel then why do you have to tear down and insult dems. I mean I’m a dem. and I don’t feel like I’m below you people but you seem like you feel your all above me and all dems. I think you should do your job, report the news and keep your opinion to yourself and stop twisting and turning the truth to fit your lies.

Why should Hillary drop out? She has as much right to run as anyone else.

The longer she stays in the more likely Obama is going to end up being human, and embarrassed by core socialist beliefs.

“The real issue is this. Who would you rather have in charge of the defense of the United States of America, a group of people who never served a day overseas in their life, or a guy who served his country honorably and has three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star on the battlefields of Vietnam?”

This seems to be just one more proof that Democrats just like to hear themselves talk. They established the rules of the game and then when it backfires, they want Hillary to “rise above” the fray and do what is best for the party. Hillary will do what is best for Hillary, as is normal for her. It is interesting albeit sad to watch how carniverous the Democrats are, and how quickly allies become enemies.

Alisyn,
She should drop out to try and unite the party, at least make the appearance she is trying. Dems are so broken right now! The party is fractured because their ideology is outdated, naive, and does not address the overseas threats. Mrs. Clinton is too arrogant and ambitious to drop out and it’s hurting the party. The problem is she doesn’t care about anything but gaining power.

By the way, a great story to follow up on would be the exposure of the altered tactics of terrorists that were touched on this morning. VERY relevant. Thank you

Of course Hillary should continue to run! We have a government that is suppose to follow the laws of the land. What is happening? This has nothing to do with my personal choice. It has to do with the rights of americans. Just because one wants something doesn’t mean the rules can change at a whim. We have become a quick fix, I want what I want nation! That is a dangerous and toxic thinking.

Hillary drops out — pros: no more repetitive, annoying, incessant campaign coverage, to the point where we’re down to analyzing body language and facial expressions. Cons: we’re stuck with a democratic candidate who can beat McCain (not that he’s such a prize himself) easily. Better to keep her in, keep the Dems at each other’s throats, engage in childish, vindicive retaliatory voting (or writing Hillary in), thereby affording McCain a chance to win — not that he’s so much better, but he’s what we’re stuck with thanks to all the backwards ejits who think Mormons are scary and weird. /rolleyes Anyways, no matter how you slice it, y’all can kiss your take home pay goodbye and start tightening your belts so we can pick up an even greater share of the tab for the needy whiny.

This election has become more about personalities instead of issues. How sad we all will loose!

As far as I know Senator Obama has not won the number of pledge delegates that is required for him to secure the democractic nomination. Furthermore this is still a close race between the two remaining contenders. The democatic party leaders should not ask anyone to drop out especially in a close race. Just let the process work itself out and at the end of the day the dems wil have a nominee.

I, also, am a conservative and have no intentions of voting for either Obama or Hillary but I think she should be allowed to continue. . . . I think we are learning more about each others short comings and we (the Republicans) are not the ones throwing the “mud”!!!! I have been astonished though that Obama’s speech he made (FINALLY) in response to the Wright association could so make people forget the point that he is affiliated with such Anti-Americans - why we would even be considering such a man to be our president just sends chills up my spine and I am so fearful for our country!!
I am so thankful though for the FOX news channel to give us the entire news stories - not just segments of it that can support their views, as seems to be the case with the others. . . . Love you guys and thanks again!!

Well, as a republican, I think she should stay, Hillary’s bid benefits the good guys because of thier infighting!

I think both Democratic candidates should stay in the race until all the primaries are over. Meanwhile they will likely be dishing dirt on each other and maybe complete stories on both of them will surface helping those of us in states that have not yet voted to make a clearer choice.

Hi Alisyn,

I love Fox & Friends, & think you are the best! I never miss your show - I record the latter part of the show as I must leave for work. Let Hillery keep running. As someone else said, this Dems against Dems is better than any soap on TV. Just make some popcorn & watch ‘em fight it out!!

All the best,

Comment by chas

And if I may add another point to CJ’s post, this will most likely do the both of them in when they fail. If Hillary doesn’t win the primary will become another also-ran like John Edwards. And a loss in the General Election will sentence either of them to forever reside in the Senate. Look how the former losers have been treated by the Dems.

There is little compasion for a loser in the Dems party.

To assume Obama is the Dem’s choice in light of recent events is foolish. I will say that I have heard alot more dems say they will vote for McCain before they would vote for Obama. This includes the men in the union that some of my relatives work through. That is very serious, Republican is a dirty word in the union. Dear Alisyn…I can’t think of a more disturbing political persona than Hillary Clinton. Even her supporters appear to magnify her characteristics.

The woman interviewed this morning on F&F, representing the signatories of the letter sent to Rep. Pelosi, had the same earmarks. She appeared cold, angry and calculating…she reinforced, to me, what a Hillary presidency would be.

However, I think as the convention nears, we learn more and more about Hillary and her supporters. And, I think as time passes…the more she reveals about herself…we will realize the jeopardy our nation will be placed in by having the Clinton’s back on Pennsylvania Avenue.

So, I say “…stay in…”. “Keep on making that ol’ magic that you do…Hillary (et. al.). We’ll be a better country for it!

Why should Hillary pull out?? NO WAY. I am a Republican who wants Hillary to win. WHY?? Because I know John McCain can beat her. No doubt the Obama camp has their hand in this helping to spin this because they know they are in trouble. The lack of confidence is showing for Obama. One reason Hillary would not pull out is…..BECAUSE she is one power hungry woman! I can’t believe people would think she would pull out. The new President MUST focus on terrorisim..and I am confident McCain will be best at protecting us. We need to kick blooming buttocks in the Senate to get the show going.

NO, IT’S HER CHOICE…

BUT, I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT WE DON’T HAVE ANY GREAT LEADERS RUNNING. WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PICK THE BETTER OF THE EVILS. THAT BAR IS PRETTY LOW.

OBAMA: IS ONLY HERE BECAUSE JACK RYAN HAD DROPPED OUT OF THE RACE IN ILLINOIS. AND IS RUNNING ON THE TICKET OF RACE.

CLINTON: IS ONLY IN IT BECAUSE OF BEING A FEMALE AND HUSBAND BILL.

MCCAIN: I’D LIKE TO FIND OUT HOW HE BECAME WORTH 40 MILLION AND RAISE 7 CHILDREN? IS IT TRUE THEY HAVE PERKS? HE WALKED INTO PUBLIC OFFICE BECAUSE HE WAS A POW. IS HE GOING TO DO IT AGAIN?

ARE THERE ANY GREAT LEADERS OUT THERE?

Hi Alisyn,

I find the whole process fascinating and I believe a “real” convention would be a good thing for the country! The conventions were not intended to be a coronation event but a part of the democratic process. I barely recall the last dramatic convention that we had in this country and I think it would be a tremendous learning opportunity for our youth.

The idea that the Democratic Party would be divided by a brokered convention is ridiculous. Although many state that there is too short a time between August and election day for the final two opposing candidates to campaign is also a somewhat outdated thought. That may have been true when we were only recieving our news from our morning paper and the evening news. With channels like Fox News and others (are there others?) and the 24 news cycle, three months is an eterenity.

Have a great day, Alisyn! I have been a Fox and Friends Fan forever (whatever happened to Louie?)

From the beginning, the pro-obama supporters have been announcing that Hillary will drop out. We used to have a democratic process. I miss it. This primary is being run and won by a sly media and PR campaign. Once that happens there is no going back.

Hillary should stay in. O Bama will have more problems before the convention. Be careful what you wish for, O Bama is not what he appears to be. He just proves you can fool a lot of people most of the time.

Comment by Ralph Caracoza

Absolutely not! I find it amazing that with all the democratic senators and governors of the past, that for years tuned and developed their skills, yet still didn’t feel qualified to run for president. I find Senator Obama arrogant to think that he is qualified to run after just beginning his first term as senator, with no recognized accomplishments, other then being able to deliver with his oratory skills, which is just talk, no deeds. Why not just elect an actor with scrip writers, we all know of many more of the more qualified. And Obama keeps telling everyone that he has the ability to bring both sides of congress together, what a joke. Can you see the most liberal democrate senator in congress win over a single repubican? Again, absolutely not.

Comment by Jo Ann

Of course, she should stay in the race in order for more to be learned about both Dem candidates. And the Republicans should publicize the fact that more conservatives actually give more to charity than the liberal Democrats …who only give away other people’s money with their government programs.

Comment by Riley France

After reading the other comments regarding wether or not Hilllary should stay in the race for the White House. I see that People strongily feel that Hillary is doing things like; “hanging herself”, “making McCain look good”, etc. etc… To be totally honest about how I feel about this,(I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.) that Ol’ Hil’ is blood-thirsty to be the first “women President…” Nothing more! Since all she seems to concerned about his her publicity, (Judging by her own deficit.)
