Curious what you all think about the debate about Barack Obama’s body language toward Hillary Clinton at the State of the Union Address? As Hillary approached, hand outstretched, Obama turned in another direction. Was it a slight? Or was he just giving Hillary and Ted Kennedy a moment to chat amongst themselves, as his strategist said? Brian argued that if Obama really doesn’t like Clinton, he shouldn’t fake it. Steve thinks Obama should act presidential and shake her hand. Thoughts?

Well I’m kinda glad they are causing this rift inside the Dem. party…..it can only help the Rep. later down the road.
I don’t think he should have to shake her hand. I realize this is a presidential race, but she has sunk so low in her attacks on him. She will now try to get the female sympathy - “poor me, the lone woman in the race and they are treating me badly”. Whoever falls for her act is crazy!
Hi Ali,
Great pictures, I’ll bet the weekend was over before you knew it.
Hillary and Obama…………………..
If Hillary were approaching me I would want as much distance between her and me as I could get as quickly as I can. She’s an evil, faux woman and she NEVER does anything without first calculating it.
With that said…………….
As the President of the United States that person will have to deal with people he or she does not like on a daily basis, it’s a simple fact of life. Therefore the Prez must always take the high road and set personal feelings aside.
My guess is that one picture can be taken out of context and made to appear as something it wasn’t.
Things always seem so hectic at the SOTU speechs, with everyone greeting each other, talking, jocking for camera time and face time with POTUS.
I doubt that Sen Obama purposefully slighted Sen Clinton. He might have already been turning to talk to someone when Hillary reached over. Or from his angle he might not have seen her with someone between them. (Dare I say this might be a case of the media trying to make something more of a something that isn’t a big deal.)
If Sen Obama purposefully refused to shake hands with Sen Clinton over just what has happened in this campaign so far then he is showing he isn’t ready for the election campaign later when the gloves are really going to come off. Also what about if he is elected President and is supposed to be civil and shake hands with other world leaders and dignitaries? I am sure Pres Bush (and all the other Presidents) have had to shake hands, sit down and talk with people that they personally think are loathsome and wouldn’t want to have anything to do with if not for it being part of the job.
I agree with Steve, Obama should take the high road, as Steve suggested about another situation earlier this morning. Steve is a class act, as are you and Brian.
Was it a snub? Don’t know or care. How many times has Hillary snubbed people? Plenty I’m sure!!! Let’s pole the prior White House Staff shall we? She comes off as being very High & Mighty.
Does Kennedy’s backing of Obama mean something? I’m confused….I though Obama was for change. ??? Kennedy change? ha! I’m not sure that the Kennedys have as much name power with the newer generations. I never had the chance to be impressed by J.F.K. because I wasn’t even born before he was killed but I can say this…I am so NOT impressed by the rest of the Kennedys.
I would like to see a picture from the other side. ( Behind Hillary) How do we know that Barack was not distracted by another Senator trying to get his attention?
In fact, Senator Claire McCaskill who witnessed it said that’s exactly what happened. Obama was distracted by her.
By the by, will I be receiving Steve’s Mr. & Mrs. Happy book for correctly naming Richard Simmons in time, or did I just dream it?
Hey Eleanor,
Now that A.J., beloved intern, is back, it’ll be on its way!
I wish I could tell you what I think about Hillary. She was just grandstanding, red dress and all to get her picture taken. John McCann all the way.
the comments you ascribe to Steve and Brian were early in the broadcast, before the show ended they were both being extremely snide about Hillary - inferring that she is incapable of feeling and everything is an act. I was surprised at how nasty Steve was - do we have a couple of closet misogonists. Normally I enjoy the show - not very intellectually challenging but very entertaining, I had to turn off as I was swamped with real anger - this surprised me as I am not a feminist. Dont think I can visualise them as entertaining any more.
I tell you this don’t think I would turn my back on a Clinton unless I patted them down first!
It’s definitly not want you want the free world leader to act like. Of course if Hillary had wanted to get Obama’s attention she could have tapped his other arm.
I think your right it high schoolish of both. I can remember fighting the night before with the girlfriend and the next day in the commons you talked to all her girlfriends and avoided eye contact with her.
Good morning Ali,
Those were some great pics, looks like you had a great time, though it’s hard not to have a great time in Vegas!
As for the “snub”, I think there was something going on on both sides of that handshake. Senator Clinton doesn’t do anything without analyzing all of the possible ramifications, right down to that fire engine red suit that she had on! Senator Obama, while I would hope that he didn’t turn away intentionally, probably didn’t want to shake her hand, and I can’t say as I blame him. It’s kind of hard to judge what was really going on based on that one picture.
Anyways, who cares? I’d rather talk about more important things like where did you stay in Vegas, and did you win any money!!!
Have a great day!
I think he did the only honest thing he could, its obvious he has no love loss for her so why fake it. We dont need more fakes in politics we have enough. Also I have to comment on the “women for Hilary”. I think we should give the greater share of women more credit than we do, they are not going to vote for someone like Hilary just because of her gender. Intelligent women can see through what she really stands for and what a fake she really is.
Hi Alisyn…I believe Mr. Obama would not have intentionally dismissed Mrs. Clinton’s outstreached hand. I would more expect Mrs. Clinton to be hiding a buzzer in her palm to give Obama a little shock…I see many similarities in Hillary’s and SOUPY SALES’ personalities.
The reality is that all politicians live in the Photo OP moment. Obama knows that taking her hand would the appropriate action and would prevent the Clinton(s) campaign from enjoying some added political leverage.
Its but an example of Hillary supporters trying to make something out of nothing…like a “…vast right-wing conspiracy…” I believe it says more about a Hillary “I am the Victim” Presidency than it does about the Obama Candidacy.

Nice Soupy Sales reference!
Snub? Yes. But the democrats will solidify with whomever get’s the nomination. I wish I could say that for my fellow Republicans. We can’t decide who we want.
I watched the SOTU and that was the only time Billary smiled the whole night. What do you think Photo OP! When I go to a group I shake hands closest to furtherest and if the guy isnt paying attention I grasp his arm.
Ed
Well, there is no telling where that hand has been!
Of course he should have shaken her hand. It looks petty and childish otherwise.
Welcome back. Thank you for sharing your pictures. So nice. I don’t think Obama snubbed
Hillary. He does not have to be chummy with his rival! I believe he was called to someone
else.
thanks, Delores Zelt
Billary, sorry, Hitlary, darn, Hillary and her philandering Slick Willie have alienated even the Liberal base they profess to represent. Hell, even Al Sharpton, of all people, told Slick to “shut up.” That should provde the answer to this question.
Janice Dean would run off with me (please?) before Obama makes nice with the Arkansas hicks.
Vote McCain
There’s no way Obama snubbed Clinton, he has more class than that. He was distracted by someone and it merely appeared to be a snub…BTW, how in the heck do you remember Soupy Sales??? You’re way too young for that.
Hi Aly,
It sure looked like you gals had a great time. Good for you!
Regarding your question about Obama and Hillary I say who cares, come Nov. they will be falling all over each other. If ever someone should not shake someone’s hand it should of been President Bush refusing to shake the hand of that Nancy Pelosi. All the horrible things she has done to him, going over to enemy countries and spewing her hatred for him and making our country look weak and the names she calls him. She stuck her hand out to him several times during his State of the Union speech and he graciously shook it. He is the epitome of class, something Nancy Pelosi and her fellow dems no nothing about.
Like I have said before Fox & Friends is great and makes my mornings and (afternoons)
Toni
I Emailed the show on this but you didn’t read any.
I said “Wake up and smell the coffee”
Hillary thinks of Hillary.
That big smile and big handshake for Teddy was calculated.
Think about that rock concert scene when the Kennedys endorsed Barack Obama.
The media followed every bit of it commenting on how crushing this must be to Hillary.
The smile/handshake, I believe, was to diminish the importance of the Kennedys endorsement.
Her way of thinking is to send a signal that the media made a big deal out of this all day long, but it doesn’t bother me in the least. It’s not important.
Of course, attempting to appear “angelic” wasn’t gonna hurt her either.
As far as the snub?
If you just beat Hillary by 28 points in SC, and her husband and surrogates treated it like it never
happened would you be so inclined to shake her hand, and stoop to her level of phoniness?
I wouldn’t, and I couldn’t.
Well first off Hillary is a big baby, she could care less and try to get elected. But what I did notice is when the Republicans stood they would glare at the Dems sitting. It was so much fun to watch all the drama. Hillary did take away from Shirley Jackson, she was normally the only woman in a bright color. I love all the drama of the night.
WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD. THE COUNTRY SAW BARACK HUSSEIN UNMASKED. IF ANYONE BOTHERED TO READ HIS (FICTION) AUTO BIOGRAPHIES ONE COULD READILY SEE HIS ANIMOSITY
TOWARD WHITES. HE TRANSPARENTLY HIDES IT PUBLICLY. WHICH THE GULLIBLE UNWASHED MASS, BUSILY IN LOCK STEP FOR SECOND CLASS CITIZENSHIP, DENIES.
Oh please, don’t ever take what Claire McCaskill says as truthful. I could tell you some thing about her while she was lurking around the Kansas City area. As far as Obama goes, he should have shaken hands with Hillary.
Three things that all presidential candidates should do:
1. Smile.
2. Shake hands.
3. Pretend that they can stand the other one.

Sen Obama didn’t snub Hillary I swear this woman will look for sympathy any way she can get it. Hillary doesn’t know what a snub is anyway, her husbands been snubbing her for years with his open preference for other women.
I wouldn”t shake her hand with rubber gloves on.
And Obama Hussein, that’s what we need a musllim pres.
I wouldn’t shake her hand with the aid of rubber gloves. And Barry Hussein Obama, please, that;s what we need, a muslim for pres.
I think Steve is right this time….Obama should act presidential and shake her hand eventhough it might be a hard thing to do. Class that’s what I call it.
Hi Ali,
Just want to say how much I enjoy seeing you on FNC. You are very nice, natural, friendly and also very naturally sexy! My husband agrees with me. Sometimes certain personalities on t.v. seem so artificial and inauthentic and you are a real breath of fresh air!
