New Year’s Eve

It’s 4am, about 20 hours before midnight as I write this, but it’s still New Year’s Eve in my book.  I’m not one of those people who calls this an overrated holiday or amateur night.  Before I had kids, New Year’s Eve was always my favorite holiday.  I love dressing up and drinking champagne and being showered in confetti.  I love wearing sequins and party hats and breathlessly counting down to midnight.   The night is so full of promise:  it lets you wipe away the past year and make proclamations of doing it better next time.  But that was then…this year I’ll be in bed by 9pm to be fresh (and sober) for our three-hours of F&F tomorrow.  As for resolutions:  I will try to have more stamina for the round-the-clock job of parenting the three adorable toddlers I call “my children” in the coming year and of course I’ll try to find interesting things to bring to you on this blog in 2008.

What are your resolutions?  And what were your most memorable New Year’s Eve’s?

My hopes for 2008 is to bring my business to new levels and raise my income to where it needs to be. I also hope that each day will be filled with promise and diligence.

I would also like to get more sleep in the coming year. this 3-4 hours a night is about to do me in….LOL

And finally, I hope to do more writing, blogging, and working to keep my grade point average in college where it is acceptable. By the way, I am 54 and decided to go back to school. My next class is College Algebra - not good for me, and this could do me in….LOL

Thanks for opportunity to speak my peace.

Hi Alisyn,
My New Year’s resolution this year is to be simply try and be a better person. More open, more introspective, and trying to be more considerate in earnest.

Would love to see a Mr. Happy and also Brian’s sportsblog here as well.

Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

My best resolution was never to make another one. That was about 25 years ago and I have not broken that promise :)

Happy New Year

I no longer do the New Year’s resolution thing. There are things I know I need to do but I just don’t tie them to a New Year’s resolution. If it works for some then go for it!!

I plan on waking up tomorrow stone cold sober and ready to go!!

I hope all have a great 2008 and big thank you too all at Fox for all that you do day and night
to bring us the serious news, fun, laughs and entertainment.

Don’t forget to watch OSU beat KSU on Jan 9!!! —had to throw that in….

Love the morning show. I always start my day with a laugh. Have to leave for work no later than 7A; but enjoy coming home and finishing the day with the after the show show! So I Thank you! New Years Resolution: eat better to feel better. Take 15 minutes a day for myself to read, knit or cross stitch. (As a single mom and nurse, finding 15 minutes can be a challenge. A book or little project can take - well, too long!) Wishing you a Happy New Year!!

Alisyn,

I love your style on F&F — so many beautiful, bright young women, with intelligence and wit - so I told my husband he could have a date with any one of you - we’ve been married for 27 years and that’s how much I love and TRUST him!!! Love watching you all and glad you’ll be sober for the show on new year’s day (tho watching you with a hang over would be quite entertaining also).

A big fan,

When I was in my late 20’s and early 30’s I loved to party on New Years Eve. However, as every one started getting married or just growing up the parties stopped. Those were the best New Years Eves.

Now I’m 52. I make it a point to go out to dinner with my father every New Years Eve. Even though he lives with me I find I must cherish all time spent with him since at 88 years old he may not be here many more years. So this evening I went to dinner with him, watched some TV with him and now since I’ve put him to bed for the night I’m catching up on email and watching Fox News. Like all the years since 9/11 I just held my breath as the ball dropped at Times Square in fear that during that time some idiot would blow themselves up and kill many innocent people. Thank God nothing happened. :-)

As for my resolutions, I hope to have more patience with my father (sometimes it can be quite trying taking care of him), lose some weight and continue on my path towards financial freedom.

Happy New Year to you and all of Fox and Friends.

Hi Alisyn, Happy new year! I make no resolutions because I always break them. My best New Years was 2002…we were in Vegas and I won 8 thousand dollars on video poker. That was the first and last time I have ever won anything. I must tell you I watch Fox and Friends as often as I can and you are all great…the best crew that I have seen and I have been watching for a number of years and I am so happy that I discovered your blog! I like it that you all share your lives with us…it really does make it feel like family. I wish you would post a picture of Brian and his family…I missed F&F when they were on and also your family. I know you said your family didn’t like the spotlight but would love to see the little ones. Wishing you and all the Fox family joy, peace and love in 2008.

Unfortunately, I need to get to work for midnight, so I’m another one who sleeps through the holiday, despite being having been invited to parties. Comes with the territory of working the graveyard shift.

Most of my best New Years memories took place when I was rather young, which isn’t too far back, but long enough that I can’t remember them all that vividly. Italian families are as tight knit as any, and friends are treated like family, so you’d have a few dozen people crammed into a small house (Hey, it’s NYC.) and watching an old TV set in the living room just joking around, consuming junk food for a change rather than the good stuff, and waiting for the ball to drop. It was one of only two nights a year kids could have alcohol. I never liked the stuff anyway. Every year, some middle-aged woman (and there were plenty. no, you’re not there yet!) would try to make me dance. I was mortified, but I had no choice. Looking back, it wasn’t so bad. They were usually drunk, so it’s not like it mattered how horrible I was at it.

I’m a little older, arguably wiser, but it’s not the same.

I to Alisyn, love New Year’s Eve. I love going shopping for that perfect dress each year for the parties I have attended. This year, I spent it with my husband and my son. I had to nag him to go outside at midnight to bang on the pots and pans while the neighbors set off fireworks. I held strong on last year’s resolution to lose weight and lost more than 70lbs., and I stuck to not putting the weight back on. My resolutions for this year is to finally have my back surgery that has been postponed since September. I want to be able to once again be active as I was before my injury and to make it up to my son for the time that I have been unable to play with him outside. I also plan on returning to college and work towards my BS in Graphics Design and Architecture. The last of my resolutions is to continue restructurizing my husband’s Non-Profit Organization and make it bigger and better than what we have worked so hard to build it up to at this point. Hope you all at Fox and Friends have a Happy and Healthy New Year in 2008.

Ms. Alisyn,

New Year’s resolution:

1. To listen more and to preach less.
2. To lead with smaller steps rather than huge leaps
3. To bring under privileged, teenage youth into our workplace and share with them the visions our staff have for their own career development
4. To remember there are as many perspectives as there are people
5. The traditionals: exercise more, eat less, be a better father

I enjoy FNF every morning. The delicate balance of news, sound bites, politics and human interest stories is a difficult challenge. FNF has had a refreshing look. Please do not let the executives push you into looking like every other network. Keep engaging the consumers and keep it as real time or as live as possible.

I have recently retired (Nov 30th) and I have resolved to tutor children in reading as well as read to children at my nearby Operation Headstart location. I am an avid reader and firmly believe that reading comprehension is the foundation to a good education.

My most memorable 2007 was meeting Brian Kilameade as he was walking to get his coffee.(because he can’t drink Fox coffee). He had a blonde moment that day. As a matter of fact he has “blonde moments” quite often. You don’t have to be blonde to have another blonde moment do you Brian. Alisyn I have written 3 books went to the premier party for the great debaters at the Rosevelt Hotel in LA back in December. Spent time with Gayle King, Wesley Snipes, Barry Gordy then went on to be with Drew Carey and no one compares to Brian. Go Figure.
Whether you were born blonde, bottled blonde or just act like a blonde… “We all share the same roots” I even named a recipe after brian in my next book.

But.. Alisyn you are a breath of fresh air to those 2. Ya are all precious. I would love to send you my blonde A.D.D. cookbooks. My second book even has Z Zoo Kiddy food that children can help cook in the kitchen. Please let me know or go to my website and email and i will send you the books. I would love to sprinkle blonde dust on you… Brian doesn’t need it he is Mr. Blonde.

Alyson, just stay as “cool” as you are. Are the “my children” you have to take care of Steve, Brian and Gretchan?. Just kidding. Love the show

Hi Alisyn! Thanks to you and FoxNews for all you do throughout the year. I started listening/watching Fox when my son was on his first tour in Iraq. I’m slowly becoming more technology able, so this is my first time on a blog :). Actually I tried last night during the New Year’s Eve celebration so I could thank all the troops, but I don’t think I was successful in sending it. Anyway, you all do more than you can imagine to keep us informed and our spirits uplifted as we go day by day praying for and thinking about our soldiers!
As for resolutions, this year for sure….I’m going to be on time remembering birthdays! Cards in the mail on time! No cheating with ecards.
Happy New Year to you, Fox and all the troops serving our great country across the globe!

alisyn,
happy new year! i too am usually in bed way before midnight on new years eve. how ever my lovely wife usually makes her way up the stairs just before the clock strikes 12 so we can smooch the new year in and then right back to sleep. it seems the older ya get the worse you feel after one night of being festive! it takes about three days to snap out of one night of fun. that doesn’t seem fair! as far as resolutions go i stopped making any because it seems as though i never got any to come to light. now i set yearly goals and try to achieve those. i don’t feel as guilty if i don’t succeed. this year i would like to quit smoking. its not a resolution, just a thought, and you have to start somewhere. i think the new years eve that i most remember is the year from 1999 to 2000 all the Y2K worries. i remember all the hooplah and nothing out of the norm happened. it seems as though they made a big deal out of nothing. once again happy new year and i hope your resolutions come your way especially the more stamina. you are a very busy young lady. take care steve.

Hi!

You seem somewhat stressed out.

If you can’t get your husband to help out as often as he should (e.g. round-the clock-job), you may consider watching a movie with Michael Keaton and Glenn Close called The Paper.

It won’t make your present situation any easier (contact other wives for strategies on how to get your husband to help around the house; surprisingly there are many ways to do this) but you may get a laugh out of the telephone rant Michael Keaton has in one scene.

Very funny and a great tension reliever.

If you already seen this scene, watch it again, you’ll feel better.

I resolve to help children learn to read by volunteering as a reading tutor to first grade children. I am an avid reader and I believe good reading skill is the foundation to learning. I also read stories to children at my local Operation Head Start facility. I love spreading the joy of reading to others, especially kids.

Hey Alisyn,
My resolution is never again to make resolutions. I just bought larger pants and made peace with my fluffyness.

Alyson,
Many years with young kids you are to bed early, mainly because they are sleeping! So I fully understand that. My most memorable night was a night my youngest was watching Cirque de Soleil with his dad, everyone was asleep. With the tight nude colored tights he kept thinking they were naked, and kept asking his dad why that one girl was naked. She was fully clothed, but it was very funny. Finally Dad said please explain to him she is not naked! I was laughing so hard it took me awhile.

Hi Alisyn!
I am soooooooooo happy to FINALLY see your pic included with the Fox and Friends threesome!!! You are officially now a foursome!!! LOL!!! From one Italian to another (maiden name was “AMICI”!!!) I love listening to you and reading your blogs! When it gets closer to Easter, if you’d like, I will share with you the Easter Bread our family puts together to celebrate the end of Lent!!! My kids jokingly call it “Cholesterol Cake” but my Nona (God rest her soul) calls it pizza bread! It has 13 jumbo eggs, 2 pounds butter, 3 pounds romano/asiago cheese, etc. Need I say more! Then we serve it with cold cuts and a good bottle of Cabernet for Easter Brunch!!! IT IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to wish you and your family a happy and healthy 2008. You clearly have your hands full. I am a twin so I have seen it from the other side and we had irish twins which is pretty close. I am a big fan of yours and of F&F and love your sense of humour. I also noticed that you have never eaten a raw egg.

Hi Alisyn..Happy New year!
I have some resolutions but I am afraid if I tell them to anyone I will fail miserably..that has happened so many times before.
One that I can tell..which is really a wish is to buy an old jukebox! I have about 500 45’s and would love to play them again. I was looking at them today and found a Rick Springfield(Brian’s wifes superstar) 45 from 1985..and the title was Alyson..thought you could tease him about that sometime..even tho Rick spelled your name a little differently :). Any time you can tease Brian on anything its neat..he’s great for all the ribbing he takes. Love the show..it goes on before making coffee or letting the cat out every morning!

The kids are gone before you know it, so enjoy while you have them Alisyn! I just spent the loneliest New Year’s Eve I can remember watching Bill and Megyn on Time Square all by myself…..It seems like yesterday that my now 32 and 34 year old boys were sitting on my lap with their paper cups of apple cider waiting for the ball to drop on TV! How I WISH I could have those days back!!!!

It was many, many years ago and I recall it rained on us the whole day before and that night. I was with my friends -most of whom I never see anymore. Somewhere in Scotland on a NATO exercise where it always rained and it was very cold. Probably 30 degrees or less but in a Scottish moor with constant half-frozen rain I was as cold as a body can be. Somebody dropped into my foxhole and had a tiny bottle of Blackberry brandy which with one terrible cough-medicine tasting sip warmed me from the toes up. We had a pull and then tossed the pint bottle towards the next position. Nothing happened. It was, ha, the cold war and all the folks ‘training’ us were dry and warm. I hadn’t been able to stop shaking or even think straight until that 1/4 ounce pull of brandy. I looked up and after a while a hole appeared in the clouds and the rain slacked off allowing a penetrating frost to cover everything. The man beside said, “Happy New Year”. 25 years later I occasionally stand outside, alone in the cold on New Year’s Eve and have a sip of the worst and best liquor in the world.
