Radio Daze
I haven’t forgotten about you guys. I miss blogging more regularly and the After the Show Show but I must say I’m enjoying filling-in for the Judge on Brian & the Judge’s radio show this week. Don’t worry, I’ll be back with a vengance on Monday. But it’s a nice change of pace to be able to wipe off the lipstick, kick off the heels and settle into 3-hours of talk radio. We certainly had a lot to cover today with the assasination of Benazir Bhutto. Here are the big questions we’ll address on F&F tomorrow: what does her assasination do for the presidential race here? for national security here and in Pakistan? for the cause of democracy everywhere? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’m just waiting until someone blames her assassination on Bush or Global Warming.
The assassination of Bhutto is no surprise since Taliban leaders threatened suicide attacks if she returned from exile. What is suprising to me is how weak the security around her has been. I don’t feel this tragic event will impact our Presidential elections at all. None of the contenders, Democrat or Republican impress me in terms of experience or expertise in foreign or domestic policy. The Democrats are a choice of Left, Extreme Left or Hillary who is off the charts. The Republicans need to get back to their core values. Not much to chose from………………….
Hi!
All the questions you ask are hard to answer but the assassination emphasizes how important it is to stop the proliferation of WMD (e.g. Pakistan has nuclear weapons. chaotic political situation). There should be less WMD in the world not more.
I know someone from Pakistan who said that many of the problems in the region started when the Russians invaded Afghanistan and many of the fighters (e.g. Taliban) drawn to Afghanistan radicalized the area after the Russians left.

Alisyn,
I am not real politically inclined..but I did admire her…she had grace and strength..and passion about her beliefs…a great loss to Pakistan and to the world….a tradgedy..
I think it will have an impact because it is a vivid reminder how unstable the mideast is. I would think voters would be more inclined to choose an individual who is experienced and level headed on foreign policy. Obama has no foreign policy experience and it shows. Hillary has no real experience either but is better at the art of deception so she may gain some votes.
McCain probably does has the most experince so I am guessing he might gain some on the Republican side.
It is too late, but I would make Benazir Bhutto Time’s person of the year.
HI Ailisyn,
Her murder is a major blow to Democracy, around the world. I can’t help thinking the Pakistan goverment, had something to do with this.
I don’t believe this will have much effect on our Presidents election.
Thanks for your time,
Carlo

Hillary has already started to play the “victimhood card” ( go to http://www.pigazette.com for clarification of that term), saying ” I knew Benazir Bhutto for 12 years”, and will undoubtedly play up on this ad nauseum. As if that has any import or meaning to the fact that she was murdered by terrorists. The two women had little in common; one a champion of democracy, the other socialist at heart.
Ultimately, this plays into the hands of the republican party, as it re-energizes and reaffirms the importance of the war on terror and a continued US military presence.
Ultimate potential winners: McCain and Giuliani.
My first thought is that Al Quaida wants Hillary to win. Sorry but I think this played right into her hand, more than anyone else’s. Which is really a pain, we need to stay strong and pick who is best for the job.
It’s certainly a sad day today for all democracy loving people. Benazir Bhutto brought hope to many in her country that democracy would return with her when she took that first step
back on Pakistani soil, after years in exile. She knew all too well the dangers
that awaited her, but yet she went back anyway. Oh, she was so close to achieving
that goal of democracy..
What a courageous lady she was..
Let’s all hope that the Pakistani people can find some stability in their country..Without it,
democracy won’t have much of a chance to occur.
My condolences to her family and all peace loving people.
Alisyn,
You, Steve, Brian and Paige did an outstanding job this morning reporting on this tragic event; and again later with Brian on the radio.
It’s appreciated.
Its most unfortunate that she was killed but in that part of the world women are hated for speaking up or even”showing up”.
I’ve never forgotten my parents(who came here from Lebanon) telling me about the Turks
who went from village to village asking people”Are you Christian?”
If you were and you said yes,..they would slit your throat.!!!
We are dealing in the Mideast with Islamics who wish to kill all Christians.
Three reasons that Alisyn has been so busy as of late:
1. The holidays.
2. Fox and Friends, plus the radio show.
3. The untimely death of a leader.
=====================================
Between all of this, and the husband, plus kids times three-
I’d say that Alisyn has done a job, quite extraordinary.

My wife says you are married to a rock star. Would that be Bonjovi
You can kick off your heels on TV too…..we love you
Alisyn,
This is the first time in years, I have seen you and Page on the set together– She’s a natural talent and easy on the eyes too!
I sorry I missed you on the last RedEye show–
Will it be replayed anytime soon?
Tell the producers if they don’t I am going to starved my self!!!

Yes I imagine without having to make the TV “appearance”, would be nice for some Alisyn. We have seen you sans makeup in your pics of newborn Nate, but isnt it scary when Brian takes off his makeup and puts the toupe on the manican head. Probably similar to a cast member from “La Cage au Faux”. LOL
I know its been serious Radio yesterday and today and I missed sending in the emails to radio show. I just had to let that one out.

I dont think her death has any impact on our security. There is obviously no security in Pakistan so i think that, that question is moot. Her death should have no impact on the elections here, since Bush will be out of office regardless of her death. And the canidates haven’t acknowledged the issues in Pakistan.
I am confused and disappointed at the way Fox is behaving the past two days. Since the breaking of the sad news regarding former Prime Minister Bhutto, Fox has all but endorsed McCain as the only candidate that can address the issues around the world.
Is Fox News Endorsing Senator McCain? Steve asked the Senator if he would like to address the “attack” ad by Romney? Do you plan on giving Governor equal time?
Laura Ingraham did the same thing on her show last night. I have never seen her pander to anyone as she did last night.
Fox is my lifeline, but this certainly has been a disappointing performance to me.
Allison I just love your natural friendly manner in front of the camera. Did you start your career in Boston?
Marilyn
its too bad they couldn’t protect her more, she seemed like the bridge to bring some sort of order n maybe peace..
Hillary’s making hay on this tragedy, but the truth is the extent of her foreign policy experience as First Lady amounts to nothing more than tea and crumpets.
I have to say you’re the best on the show, keep up the good work!!
her assanation will destablize the entire middle east. she shoulda had the nobel peace prize not gore. we are winning the war on terror but i dont think the u.s. or any country can establish any peace in that region. with her death and turkey attacking the kurds its a very volital situation and destabalizes the entire region. theres no answer to peace there. its been ongoing for years and years and probably worse now then ever.
How about a shout out to the residents and military members serving in Guam. We are where the American day begins so we will be the first U.S. territory to see 2008.
Happy New Year from Guam
My concern is that there have been threats in the past or at least there have been conversation on air about the Jihadist trying to disrupt our election process in the same manner as they did with this out right killing in Pakistan.
We need to be on our guard.

Why don’t any of the non extreme Muslims have anything to say???? How can they be taken seriously if they continue to remain silent?
